Mike Moore Media. I'm taking in with our friends with the City of Readswell and City Manager Summer Moore. Yep, a new name is on our Media Line right now. Hey Summer, how you doing? I'm doing well Mike, how are you? I'm doing great. Yep, we have the last name now. Congratulations. You just are recently married, so I'm wishing you and and your new husband all the best. Thank you so much. We certainly appreciate that. Yep, well we're back on schedule today to talk about lots of things happening around Readswell and oh my goodness, can you believe it? Fall is here and you're getting ready for the holidays there in Readswell. We are and we're so excited. We have got a great team here. Our teammates here and City staff, they do a great job and preparing for our fall event. We actually will be start decorating this coming Monday in downtown Readsville. We've got some really cool displays planned. We have our large pumpkin that will have decorated at Market Square and then we will also our teammates at Public Works and I want to give a shout out to Hector at Public Works and some of his teammates. They have done an outstanding job constructing us a giant cornucopia or as some may refer to it, a horn of plenty. So we're really excited to put that out this year. We also have some cool scenes planned for Mural Park. So just a shout out to all the City employees who are making that happen. If our listeners are out and about, you'll see our City staff decorating starting Monday. So please stop by, bring your family and friends for some really cool photo opportunities. Our goal is to have everything decorated by next Friday which would be October the 4th. Everything should be out and ready to go. We plan to keep all the decorations up up until after Veterans Day. So it'll give you a little over a month to come down, check out the displays and also while you're downtown, remember to shop local and visit our businesses downtown, especially as we start the holiday season, make it some great gift ideas, but definitely come downtown for photo opportunities and check out our merchants and all the great items they have to offer. Certainly, yeah. One of the things that you brought with you, the idea when you came to Readsville, was that the photo ops you're talking about there and oh my gosh, that's been a big hit with all of the different seasons. So yeah, the decorations go up for that for the fall for autumn on Monday and then through through Veterans Day you said and then then the Christmas ones go up. So it's just that's that's a wonderful addition to the downtown area. It's a great teamwork. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. And then we've I know we've got the last. This has been a great summer for music and events there at Market Square, but that's winding down. So tomorrow night's the last one. It is. So tomorrow night is our special occasion band. Hopefully it does look like the weather's going to break. So right now the concert is still scheduled for tomorrow evening at Market Square. So please come out and join us for that. We're excited about that. Our Main Street director Robin Yaunt has done an exceptional job with those concerts this year. So please come out and support that. It'll be a nice break from the rainy day today. That's right. Yeah. Food vendors for that special occasion band. So that's Market Square tomorrow night seven to nine. All right. Now let's talk about some more events coming up. Oh, Fab Fabfest is coming soon. Yes. So we're really excited. I hope our listeners will mark their calendars. So I think it's both of us here getting that alert. Yeah. So sorry with the weather going on. But yes. So we're really excited. That festival is we're preparing for that. That's going to be Saturday, October the 19th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. And that festival is our food art and brew festival. It's a great partnership with the Reebville Downtown Corporation, our RDC in the city of Reebville. I know in speaking with our Main Street director Robin Yaughn and our director of marketing and economic development. Montana Brown. They've got several I think over maybe 40 or 50 vendors for crafts and at least 14 or 15 food trucks. We will also have the band of odds performing that evening. So please come out and support that. That is just a great fall festival. And again, that is Saturday, October the 19th from 11 to 7 p.m. Downtown Reebville annual fab festival food art and brew. Yeah. I love the name fab food art and brew. That is just great. Yeah. So October 19th for for that. And and then that gets a little bit closer to Halloween. So what's planned for that? It does. So we're really excited for our Downtown Trick or Treat event. Our Main Street director, Jill Weston, had started that program a couple years ago and it's really taken off. So Robin Yaughn has swooped in and continued that program. But that is scheduled for Friday, October the 25th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. And I believe that's an early release date for students. So they should be out early that day. So we just hope people will come downtown. Merchants will be participating giving out candy. The RDC will be participating giving out candy along with the city of Reebville. So it's a great event. It's free. It's also a great way to come and visit our downtown businesses and see all the great amenities and gifts that they have to offer. But again, that's October Friday, October 25th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Downtown Trick or Treat event. Okay. Right. Got it on the calendar right now. And that reminds me and I should have checked the Facebook page on this but and you may not know yet. But the downtown Reebville the event going on today this evening with the customer appreciation. Have you heard is that been rained out or do we know anything about that? I do not know anything about that yet. I saw something on Facebook earlier or last night or something or trying to decide if you're going to move it to tomorrow. So yeah, so we'll get that information and publish it on our Facebook page too. Okay. Anything else we need to mention summer? Not that I can think of at this time just for everyone to be safe with the weather event we've got going today. I did see where we just got an emergency alert about looking to take shelters. So just encourage everyone to be safe out there today. That's exactly right. Yeah, we do have a tornado watch and effect for Rockingham County until 6 p.m. So yeah, we're all getting those alerts on our phones and TVs and everything. So yeah, just stay tuned to that and make sure you know what's going on weather wise and to find out what's going on in reads. Well, I'll give that those websites and everything as we finish up. Thank you summer. Thank you Mike. We certainly appreciate everything. Just reminding our listeners to come out and check all the great things we have to offer. And I certainly hope you have a safe day and just be safe out there. Yep, you as well. And again, congratulations. Okay. Thank you so much, Mike. Thank you too. Bye. Bye bye. All right. The last time we talked to the city manager in Readsville, she was summer wooded. But now she is summer more just getting married in recent weeks. So wishing her again all the best. Let me again remind you that you can check out a couple of websites. First, let's start with rise up Readsville dot com. Rise up Readsville dot com. That's a that's a great place to go to find out what's happening in the city. And then Facebook team Readsville is another one. The actual city website is Readsville NC dot gov. Maybe you're new to the area and that will help you get acclimated to services and all of the things like that. Also, we need to mention until we had this in our notes and then didn't get to mention it. But everything Expo is coming up with the Readsville Chamber of Commerce. That will be at the new venue there at the pin house. So check out that information there with on Facebook for Readsville Chamber of Commerce. And Diane Sawyer, President of the Chamber, just did a podcast with J.R. Cecil this week. So you can find that on our website as well. And iHeartRadio and Spotify and YouTube and all of that. So you can find out more about it that way. Okay. Well, that's it for now. Shop local. Shop in Readsville. Support our hometown merchants. And again, the fall photo decorations will be going up starting Monday. And they'll have next week to put all that together in downtown Readsville. Always fun. That brings in people from close by and far away because the photo ops are just so good with all of that. So remember that's that's going up starting next week. And we'll be up through Veterans Day. And that's a good time to get in, bring the family and friends and get those photos in in downtown Readsville. [BLANK_AUDIO]
