Three hours 20 or so minutes from right now the ball will be kicked in the air in Cincinnati where the Bengals and the commanders are playing we will be there. In Paul Brown Stadium now pay core stadium which is beautiful on the water downtown Ohio River right across from Great American ballpark we're broadcasting live right now from Lawrenceburg and Indiana visiting our old friend Tommy. They've got a great watch bar and situation here I want to tell you about some of the foods we've been eating in just a few minutes but one of the guys we gave us some solid wrecks when we came out. The Cincinnati was our friend Jay Gruden who joins us now on the bet QL guest hotline on air and on the road Jay Gruden is driven by the Ted Brett Automotive group Ted Britt Ford and Chantillion Fairfax your F 150 headquarters Ted Britt Chantillion Lincoln and Ted Britt Chevrolet and Sterling home of temperate for life lifetime vehicle coverage see and shop them all at Ted Britt calm Jay this place is pretty cool man we were staying in Covington Kentucky right across the bridge from the stadium so we walked across yesterday I went to Great American. We got a ballpark tour this morning and then we're getting ready to go to the game tonight but you were here calling plays in this stadium not long ago pretty amazing environment down on the river on game night. Yeah change a lot of grown significantly they've done a lot to it down there and it's also the better it's a great area down there great people. It's a living Cincinnati to it's kind of spread out you can pick your pick whatever type of environment you want and they got something for everybody's good family place to pick picture tonight Jay Cincinnati obviously pretty hungry 0 and 2 probably share one last week. Could easily be one and one. What do you expect them from them and how do you think Washington will respond. Yes, they're going to be tough you know they get the T Higgins back which is huge they did lose a couple defense alignments they're going to have to do something to stop the run a little bit. The biggest challenge for Cincinnati against Washington Washington Washington a good job running a football gets a very good front for the Giants saw the Giants did the Browns yesterday. So I expect the Washington to run the ball and try to do what they did last week against the Giants that's heat up to clock keep the ball and keep burrow off the field I think that's going to be the key to the game. Yeah the 29th ranked run defense in terms of yards per game yards per play I think which is maybe a better metric there 18th or so for Cincinnati but it certainly hasn't been a strength early on. How do you expect to Washington to try to exploit that on the ground. A very similar way I've done it you know use formations and then you know if they try to load the box and they'll flip it outside to some receiver screens and get positive plays and just maintain possession of the ball and hopefully when they do come up maybe get some big plays in the corner tonight. Let's see him get a couple shots behind the defense and makes a big play but the most part J will be patient run when he has to run possess a football and good things will happen. J is as a play caller there's that it's you know it's one part science one part artistry feel and you know there's a million things that go into calling the perfect play at the perfect time. You mentioned that occasional shot or something to McClure and I missed one in week number one you know overthrow which happens it's the league but when do you feel like there's that right sense. Go into that description right where you go now's the time I feel it and they're not thinking about it now I'm going to take that shot see if we can hit that home run. When does that feeling come? Yeah it really comes early you know if you have some success on first down you know running the football then you might want to take a shot the next first down you get. But yeah it's just a feel for it and I know that they scripted some plays and practice some plays practice some plays early in the week and later in the week and I feel good about three or four shot plays that they want to get off the script. You've got to be patient make sure he sticks with the plan early then pull out some of the dingers early later in the first quarter early in the second quarter make some big plays. Jay Gruden on Grant and Danny here on the fan one of the things that has come up in town is what is Terry McClure and really and it's not that anyone's trying to knock him he's a really good football player. But Danny and I were talking about a week ago yes he needs to be more involved and there's a lot of meat on the bone still that hasn't really been eaten on that front. But there was a time a few years ago where I think the consensus was he was a top 15ish wide receiver in football and if you go through the list now it's more like top 25ish. I mean is that because of usage lack of production because of bad quarterback play or like where are you on Terry as a player it would seem to me. He's a guy the boxes dudes out plays bigger than he is makes contested catches but it's not that often he's not like Malik neighbors when I watch him like it's not that kind of receiver. Yeah he's an explosive guy he needs to get the ball in his hands he can run after the catch he can do a lot of different things he's good tracking the ball adjustment of the ball making the tough catch. He can do a lot of things he's been he's been kind of worn down with a couple quarterbacks are not starting league anymore last couple years and you've had different coordinators you have a new coordinator now he's got a rookie quarterback now. A coordinator trying to find his way with the offense and try to make it simple for a young quarterback and that's sometimes the more simply get makes it hard for a marquee receiver to move around and get the looks that he needs to get. So yeah I think they're trying to just bring Jayden along at a slow pace and that's going to inhibit Terry a little bit from his usage as far as getting shallow crosses and slants and getting matched up to the number two receiver and trips or moving around him. That's just not like Cliff Karen King's various beliefs he doesn't even believe in leaving a guy on one side of the field and working on that way. So a lot of variables go into getting a star receiver the touches and unfortunately for Terry hasn't had the good quarterback play and now he's got a rookie quarterback in a rookie play call or call in place for a rookie quarterback trying to make it easy so it's tough for a receiver to get his looks. That's to be clear that I think that's probably it's good to hear for a lot of people you evaluate him as like a legitimate weapon and a like an ex you think he's on that Pierre type level where the passing game can go through him. Oh yeah for sure for sure and I think he can do a lot more than just play X you know. Pierre liked to be on the ball all the time he didn't like to be off the ball and motion around and doing all that stuff he liked to be on the ball as an ex and worked to go balls and the slants and the girls and all that stuff. And the daggers Terry I think is good enough and smart enough and has football savvy enough to do more you know to put him at number two and number three and trips and motion and put him in bunches outside or inside at the point. Whatever it might be in stacked formations and that's where Terry's really good because he's got good feel for the game he's got good knowledge he's explosive once he gets a ball in the fans I think he's a very good runner after the catch. And like I said before he can have he has a speed to take the top off which you know so I don't really know what his weakness is if you have one let me know what it is. What were your favorite ways to J. Gruden with this year I'm great Danny what were your favorite ways if you'd look up and go my favorite target whoever that happened to be over your years in both Cincinnati DC otherwise where you go he hasn't gotten going yet what were your favorite ways to get him going. I want to be a quick screen right away. You know what I mean or you know the other other ways you can line them up in stacks and let somebody think top off one more of choice route and option route where you can usually read zone or mad and break it off in man or hook it up in zone or break it in about five leverage and read leverages. Those are always easy ways to get in the ball and be a number two and trip sometimes a good spot to be because if they press number two you can get them on the stomp phase we used to call it. One of the quick slants with number three running the shallow cross there's a lot of good ways to get a marquee player of the ball we had AJ he had almost 1400 yards by last year with him and obviously the Sean we took our shots with the Sean Jordan Reed as our main receiver there when he was healthy and obviously want to look for Crowder and Pierre so you know there's a lot of times you want the covers to dictate where the balls goes but if you have pure progression type plays you have a marquee receiver you want your best receiver to be progression number one. You know sometimes he won't get it if you get progression number one not to go for aggression two or three or whatever but you got to get him in situations where the quarterbacks have looked at him first covers takes it away then they'll go off of them but try to get him some looks. Jay Gruden with us on Grant and Danny on the fan we're creeping up on three hours from kickoff ahead of Monday night football will take you up to 630 tonight and then pregame right here on the fan so no reason to navigate away from GND as we get closer and closer to football. What about on the flip side with Washington on the field defensively it is a petrifying thought to think about this secondary which has had no answers with Chase who's ready to break out presumably Higgins who's coming back and Joe Burrow slinging it. How would you even begin to try to put together the plan to allow the Bengals offense to not get going through the air. Yeah I think I would feature a lot of two high safety for milk hyper just to piss him off you know what I mean and make Joe Burrow. Check the God dang ball down and try to get the pass rush try to get your hands up the balls and then when he does check it down let's come up and be physical and try to get the ball out. I don't know if they can play single high coverage and play a lot of man to man I don't know who's going to match up with he I don't know who's going to match up with Lamar. Shouldn't that be a big Zach Moss game then two Jay sorry to cut you off but yeah I mean isn't that what we're seeing around the league like if they if they play deep and make milk hyper mad. That's where the run games coming from around the league right now right. 100% but the Bengals have not had a very good run game you know Zach Moss. Moss only had like 12 chairs for 30 yards last week you know so it's not like they're they're a juggering out of running the football between the tackles and I think Jonathan Allen and. Drum pain and Armstrong they got to step up and feral. They have to step up and stop the run with light boxes and I think they have the ability to do that and got Bobby Wagner who can also play the run pretty well so I think they have the ability to stop the run with light box they didn't do it last week you can single carry but I think they. Can do it they just got to move the front a little bit on some defense alignment get these guys and disrupt the this is up the running lanes and force bro to throw on third down and. Hopefully get some pressure because I don't think I don't think Washington cover the Bengal receivers and single high coverage man to man situations. Jay go go deep into what you've seen from Joe burrow so far this year we know when he's right he's one of the best in the game but is he right. Uh yeah I mean you played better last week obviously the first week is you know I don't know what it is with the Bengals are starting out as slow as they do last year they scored zero points I think and. They're too talented offensively to start out like that I don't know if it's a lack of three season work you know last year burrow had the calf and this year maybe he didn't get as many reps as you would like. Maybe a new offense alignment working together get a new right tackle I don't know what it is but they're way too talented to have quarterback is counted as Joe burrow to start out as slow as they are I can't put my finger on it. But I imagine we're going to start put the pedal to the metal starting right. Yeah think about this Jay these numbers tobacco you just said are pretty crazy. So five years of the burrow era for the Bengals they've been 0 and 2 four times in those five years that's a really good football team most of that time obviously in week three is kind of traditionally when they've got it together. In those games they're three 0 and 1 burrow jumps up to 255 passing yards with eight touchdowns two picks a rating of about 97. It's like this has been the week almost throughout the entire Zach Taylor experience where they've started playing football which is fairly inexplicable and strange but there is a trend here I guess. Yeah it really is and I can't put my finger on it because they're running the same stuff I would think training camp and things that Joe Burroughs liked over the years and the more time Joe Burrough puts in in this offense the more place he's going to call that he likes especially early in the season. So it is a head scratcher for me I wish I could have the expert piece to tell you why they've struggled so badly in the first two games last four or five years but I don't but I do know they have a good football team and now that Higgins is back and Chase is back at full strength and obviously Zach Moss and chase Brown or another guest Becky he had a good game last week so they have the weapons for him so we'll see if they can do it. But they can't do a lot if they're on the bench if that's why Washington needs the main fan possession run the ball like they did last week at the Giants. Totally. You mentioned Higgins a couple of times go through like the actual schematics of what he changes by being back for Taylor. And just another option you know a lot of times if you play for instance the coverage quarter quarter half you want to have usually play the half sides that your best players are going to play the quarter side to see Higgins he can destroy corners. He's physical he can do the jump balls. Obviously the fifty fifty balls he's awesome Matt he's good after the catch so yeah now it just opens up the whole field now you want to play cover to out opens it up for a second and you're running back to the back field obviously running the ball or check down. Open the middle field for those guys so they have ways to get after you. Most teams have one good corner that can match them up with Jamar. Not many teams have two good corners and I know the commanders on 40 don't have probably one let alone two to match up with these guys that's why they're going to have to play more so. Jake Gordon with the Sierra on G&D Noah Brown I want to jump on him would you see from him last week you know not a ton of targets I don't know how many receivers are going to get a ton of targets but seem pretty explosive big and strong. Roll maybe this week going forward what do you say. Yeah I mean I like big physical guys like that you see what the receivers for Sam Fran Jennings did yesterday with his opportunities going up with Debo out he's a very similar type guy. The guy very beneficial in a running game that can block and I want to get opportunities catching the ball he makes big plays and those guys are great targets for a young quarterback and just try to get them on. Curl routes and then routes and flant routes those are big targets big hands and he can make good runs after the catch and it's a great option to have you know that Terry take the top off and I got a big target run on the hike. So yeah I like the fact that he started to step into that role as a number two receiver I thought the army brown might do that but or Luke McCaffery but you know who cares who does it just have somebody come in and make some plays. Jay when you were coach in whether it was as a coordinator or as a head coach do you remember guys actually getting wide eyed from Monday night football at this level or trying to do too much or is the Monday night thing something more fun for us that players don't really care that much about. Yeah I think coaches get wide eye too you know the school nerve wrecking you know sometimes they get a little nervous. Coach's name Jack. Yeah maybe they get their name on TV you know it's geniuses you know so they got to be careful that but not really. I think sometimes when the lights do cut on some guys do get nervous and you see them you miss a block or whatever whatever it might be they try to do too much too early that's usually the big thing they try to do things that they're not really capable of doing. For the most part these guys are all pros they play the high level and cause football their draft picks they play some NFL football and this is their time to really show what they can do Monday night football is a great time to play for these guys and they should be all excited. Jay Gruden on Grant and Danny we never really get to talk to you hours before a game so this is something that I think is interesting for people. What is the the lay of the land right now like we see players coming on and off the field doing their routine you know walking around with their headphones on. What's the actual last few hours before the game like schedule and then also as a coach do you address the team with a speech before every single game. Obviously it's not some like any given Sunday speech every time but like are you always giving some type of pep talk or is it done kind of more by position group like how does that work. Typically the main talk is a night before the game Monday nights are a little bit different because typically have a walk through around 11 o'clock and then I'll have a lunch and you have pre game or pre game meal you know three or four hours before the game then they get there. They all warm up and then right before after they warm up team warm up they come in and get ready to go and then I talk to them for about five minutes or not even five minutes about a minute maybe tops. Just to a few reminders few things that we worked on throughout the course of the week some slogan points that we really want to focus on through the week whether it's ball security whatever is penalties lack of penalties. Start fast you know things of that nature things that we worked on throughout the week and just remind them and have some fun and go kick to my ass. So at this point right for the players they've been waiting around all day that's what's so different for these night games right Monday night Sunday night games. And it goes off your routine to a degree is that something that we overrated as pudgy zilchers on on this side or is that something actually you guys have to learn how to deal with in terms of the players part of this thing. Yes tough you know you sit around a hotel all day long that's why you try to get them up and moving for a little walk through an old meeting for like 25 minutes or an hour maybe walk through the first 15 plays again offensively and defensively make some calls for empty or some empty automatics or maybe you're having coverage plays a bit three by one we're running this covers two by two run on this and have a mic linebacker communicate it. Maybe walk through a two minute drill just to get them up and move and then they go back down and rest for a little bit and obviously get to the trainer maybe some guys need some more treatment. It's a good time to get extra treatment and then they go to the state and they're ready to go. Jay we appreciate you as always great insight into tonight's matchup. Thank you and we will chat again next week. All right good luck commanders so I'll talk to you guys later. Appreciate you buddy. Next on Grant and Danny what are you expecting from Jayden Daniels tonight. What do you think he'll do in Monday night football game primetime game number one in his young three week old career. We'll open up the phones MGM National Harbor listening lines. 800-636-1067 on that right now. What do you expect from Daniels against the Bengals 800-636-1067 is the number on G&D. I mean I'm just trying to do whatever it takes to help get a win. But overall for the team just you know it's a new team. We play hard we play with F or physical. We're not going to back down from nobody. Logan Paulson in 30 minutes. We're with you for another hour. Grant and Danny on the fan. But we're getting ready for Monday night football in Cincinnati. We'll be on our way to the game one hour from right now as we get set for in person. Tons of fun. Danny Ruier in an NFL stadium watching his beloved Washington commanders. Yeah it looks like it's raining. It is raining Milton. I was going to say Milton it right there. Of course the game I decided to go to a poor's raid. That's going to affect things adversely. It will not be raining it doesn't look like a kick. I'm looking by the hour by hour. So here's the deal. We're expecting some thunderstorms in and around Cincinnati in the next hour and a half to hour. It looks like by game time everything will clear up. It's going to be humid and it's going to be in the 70s. But as the game goes on it's basically a room temperature high humidity football game. Which shtick aside like as players. You're not going to do a whole lot better than that. Assuming it's not raining during the game. And there are storms in the area right now. The thumb warning of like weird wind updates. It's a weird wind update. We're getting some of that. But it looks like no bad precipitation during the game. It's all going to clear out before the game which is ideal. That is nice. Yeah you presume the field conditions will be good. Although you know I don't like washing necessarily would mind a mucked up environment right. They're not the perfect passing team. So maybe if it turns into a you know a mud bowl or mid 90s Nebraska pushing contest then I benefit them. Let's go to the phones. What do you expect from Jaden Daniels tonight? What do you want to see from the commanders when you turn your TVs on back home. Other than me and Danny smiling in the crowd. They're going to give you one of those five K shots where we become a meme. Like the Chargers lady screaming on TV tonight. Let's go to Jamal and DC on Grant and Danny. What's up Jamal? It was going on fellas. Hey buddy. Tonight I'm expecting I think we're going to do during the game this far. I think he would finally throw a touchdown. Actually I'm going to play too. We want to throw two touchdowns. You want to carry the other athlete. I think Ryan Robinson will continue the moment of restarted and we'll get over 100 yards in the ground from him and the scores. Well, however, I don't think will win. I think they're going to lose the game 28 to 31 because I mean we all see the same defense that's been out there. Looks like the same. Welcome last year. And I just think doing that Joe Barrow and then will, you know, score more points than us, but we will walk away from the game. Silling like the 10th competed and we're seeing the progression of James days and me as a commander fact. This year is not about wins a lot. I mean, James, James Daniels will make better week seven things than he did. We want that happen. Successful. Thank you. Jamal, you're reading from the same pages, my friend. I mean, it sounds like you just took the words right out of my mouth or vice versa. I cosign everything. You just said I'll give you the old verbal retweet. I mean, for me, number one, Daniels's development is the whole game. It's the whole deal. It's everything. And if he has a big game tonight against the Bengals, this team that's supposed to beat Washington handily, I think that's revealing and telling and that would be really, really encouraging. So we'll start there, but the other thing is, and what I really liked about his call is if they lose tight and they play as well offensively as what he's suggesting. In any game this year, it's a huge win because you can fix the defense. You can go get members of your secondary in the draft and in free agency. You could throw money at that problem. If you have the right quarterback and the playmakers that we're hoping elevate their game start doing that, then you're way closer. You're way ahead of it. Then we think they are right now. 100%. 100%. I mean, so to me, progress isn't linear. This is not a fairytale where, and then one thing happened and the next thing happened and the third thing was even better than the first two, adversity strikes, right? You're going on the road, national television. This is a different animal than week number one. It's a different animal than playing a couple of, you know, Tampa was fine, beat the hell out of you and playing a bad team like the Giants. It's a Bengals team that's got a pretty good pedigree. I know they haven't played well this year, but that's just this year. They have done some things recently in the past that you're aspiring to get to. They're the level that you have simply not been for decades. So I think this is one of those tough ones. And it's not necessarily about having a tough game that's going to happen. It happens to the best players ever to play this game. It's what you do after that. Where's the adjustment? Where's the, you know, the response? Where you get knocked to the turf? How do you get better? What can you do differently? That's just for Daniels, that's for Kingsbury, that's for everybody under the sun. You know, they've, the fact that they're one and one has kind of masked a lot of the problems. Remember last year they were two and O and everyone kind of knew, you know, two and O, that's great, but they're not that special. And we certainly saw that play out over the course of the year. I think this is a tough game and that's going to happen. It's about what you do afterwards. What do you expect to see from Jaden Daniels tonight is the question. And we will take your calls at 800-636-1067. If you want to tweet us or jump into the YouTube chat on the 106-7, the fan stream, that works too. How's Daniels going to play? We talked earlier, we predicted his line. How about just more anecdotally in terms of like, it's not going to be too big for him. We know that. That's one of the beauties of the whole situation. He's had moments of nerves which are normal, but whether it was camp, pre-season, regular season games, he belongs. That's obvious. I just wonder, Lou and Aromo is no joke. The defensive coordinator of this Bengals team has fooled a lot of really good quarterbacks over the years. He's one of the few guys that gives Patrick Mahomes fits. If Daniels and Cliff Kingsbury can win that matchup, that's going to feel like that. That is a lot. Those guys are maybe a little more advanced as a tandem than we think they are. But I think Aromo is going to have a plan for a young QB. It's not on the line of Todd Bowles and Tampa probably in terms of how diverse the looks are and how much you throw at them, but it's closer to that than just a real basic vanilla formula defense. Well, for Bowles, if the solution is blitzing, boy, does he have a solution for you? That's what he wants to do is bring pressure. This isn't necessarily always about that. Frustrating you. It's about taking things away that they know you like and forcing second, third, and fourth reeds, giving their past Russia a chance to get home, which it hasn't consistently yet, but certainly can as you've seen a guy like Trey Hendrickson, who we're talking about, who said I think a 17 and a half sack season on his resume. So yeah, in this to me would go, he plays a lot better than I am anticipating tonight. And again, I'm upset either way. I'm still a big Jayden Daniels guy. I'm enthusiastic about him being here, but at first he's going to strike. Like if it doesn't strike tonight on national television and he holds his own and they win or close or have a chance to, that's going to go a long, long way in my opinion. Let's go to PJ and rested on Grant and Danny here on the fan. Hey, Peach, what's good? Hey guys, happy evening. It's a wonderful optimistic evening. So what my goal is this, you know, if we win icing on the cake, I'm not saying we don't have a chance to win, but Cincinnati being owned to with Joe Burrell, they're going to really, I think they're going to score so many points on us. I'm just looking to have Jayden have a smart performance. I want to see him kind of get the receivers more involved. And I would like to see somebody besides Terry McCorn on the receiver get more than 50 yards. So I think, you know, if we lose 30 to 23, but Jayden plays well, I'll be very happy with it. I would take that. Yeah, 100%. Hey, Peach. Yeah. Appreciate the call, dude. I would take that right now. Son and scene. I know that's not popular. I know people don't really like to think that way. I've got a different, more long term vision in mind. If they're losing a one score game where it's not, you know, nine to six, you know what I mean? We're the offense does some stuff. And yeah, it's the same old crap with the defense. I can absolutely live with that. And we saw a wide receiver do that last week. Noah Brown on just three targets basically in just a half a football after being elevated had three grabs for 56 yards. So if you just want a receiver who can pile up over 50 yards, we've seen it. Danny Ruya, ladies and gentlemen, agrees with his beloved favor mascot, Major Tuddy. Do you guys know this? Danny and Major Tuddy see things eye to eye. What did that diabetic pig say? You've always loved Major Tuddy. What did that overweight goofball say? We're doing the fat shame of mascot here. What do you think you and Major Tuddy agree on other than everything? Guess what? The name stinks. No. Major Tuddy tweeted at 421 today. On September 23rd, my mom's birthday. Happy birthday, mom. Hey. She's a big fan of the Washington outfit. Washington. "I tried Skyline Chili," said Major Tuddy. Overrated. Okay. Now, he's right, except Major Tuddy doesn't have teeth. Alright, Major Tuddy is a stuffed animal or whatever the stupid thing is. Okay, and I hate it. But, yeah, but he is correct. Everyone needs to calm down. Cincinnati people have conflated muddled flavor with complication and sophistication. Cinnamon does not belong in chili, nor does dark chocolate settle down. It's the 20, it's better than Hoosier chili, which is just beyond stupid. Is it the point of Skyline chili? It's chili on pasta? No, that's the three way, right? The chili, it's supposed to be this, like, it's so complicated. It's such a diverse flavor. It's not. It's sweet, and it's stinks. Stinks. I need to tag in our resident chili expert. I should say our Cincinnati expert. I don't know if he's a chili expert or not. Our guy Thumb. Thumb knows what he's about. So Thumb, first of all, I'm sure you've tried it. Have you become a convert to Skyline chili? There is a competitor out here named Goldstar. I side with Goldstar. I think that Skyline is disgusting, but Goldstar is actually a little okay. It's pretty much what Danny said. And off Mike, you were talking about Major Tutti and how he doesn't have teeth. You don't need teeth to eat Skyline chili. That's a great point. It's like sugar soup. It's sticks. They put it over very plain spaghetti, and then they take, like, a brick of government cheese. I don't know if you guys have ever been in an actual, like, skyline establishment, but they have a professional cheese grater. Not like what you would do to grate your cheese at home. This guy gets hired, comes in, hourly employee. All he does is shred cheddar cheese, start to finish all day long. It's a hell of a gig. But it seems like something you would like. I can't remember. You're a chili guy. Yes. I like chili. Right. So, again, what they do is they take, like, 74 cent, whatever, Safeway store brand noodles, boil them up and put this sweet, sugary chili-like substance on top of it. Kind of sounds good. And pretend it's, it's, I would rather a spaghetti sauce. You know how much better spaghetti bolognese is than having spaghetti with stupid chili sauce on it? But it's not what we're talking about. This chili stinks, Grant. And again, they think they're so smart and brilliant because it's sophisticated. It's not, it's a muddled, confused mess. The only way you can actually make it work is if you have a Coney, which is chili dogs. No, that works. But you got it. You guys call chili dogs. That's the Detroit days out here. Yeah. That's the Midwest Detroit day. Okay. But that's the only way to do it. If you go in there and order anything else, it's wrong. My man knows. It's under a 2080 scouting scale. It's not even on. You're not even sending the scout to the game. You know, you're how much better Kansas City chili is. You sell the scout to stay home with burnt ends. You know how much better that is? Tommy knows a thing or two about some delicious eats. He's got the sports book tailgate appetizers here at Thoms Watch bar, also known as sports book at Hollywood Casino, where we are enjoying the day in Lawrenceburg with our old producer, Tom daily crispy corn fritters. You would eat that barbecue pulled pork sliders. Can I interest you in that? Yes, you can. Maybe a little salted pretzel bite with beer cheese. I almost got that today, but I got the potatoeskins that are not shared with you instead. Mac and cheese bites with pepper bacon jam. That sounds like a 60 as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't know because you wouldn't give them to me. Popcorn chicken with fireball ranch. Yeah, I would do that. Smoked bourbon barbecue meatballs. That's what I'm going to do tomorrow. You're going to call it the Paulson? Do you have red solo cup, Tommy? Yeah, can we put him in a solo cup? Yeah. It's got to be a clear cup. Oh, by rule, by rule, sure, yeah. And a dip bar with spinach, queso, and tortilla chips. That sounds like a Danny Hooke. That's a Danny, Rudy. We're doing all right out here in Lawrenceburg. It won't be long before we were on our way to the game. You guys want to hop in on the commanders. And your expectation for tonight on Monday Night Football 800 6361067. This is a potential coming out party and a real opportunity for Jaden Daniels to show the country what he is all about. Let's get to a commander spotlight next on the fan. Got there and picked a spot in me. Obviously, we got to get Terry the ball. But at the end of the day, you got to spread the ball around. Defenses are going to key on Terry. Respectfully, respect to him because of what he did in his league. But at the end of the day, man, when it's time and we have a one-on-one matchup, sometimes Terry's out there, go let him win. But other than that, we're just going to keep playing our game. We're going to keep moving forward and just go from there. That's Jaden Daniels. We're Grant and Danny. Logan Paulson joins the show coming up in about 15 minutes right here on the fan. We will be getting over to the stadium. I will say I saw a lot of burgundy and gold, Danny, over the course of the afternoon. Yeah. Some folks came into the bar. Obviously everybody dominant in Ohio stopped by, but we saw some people roaming around here in Indiana, 30 minutes or so from the stadium. But beyond that, downtown, we were at Great American ballpark right next to peak or over at Fall Brown today. There were a ton of people rocking burgundy and gold. Do you see folks taking a tour just like we were? Yeah. I saw people that obviously drove because they had, you know, the red skin steamed or commander steamed gear like all over the truck and whatnot. So one of those trips where you got to want it, several hours, but you could drive. Most people I'm sure flew. And there was more commander's gear than I thought. More often than not still, which is interesting. You see red skin stuff, but there were plenty of people at the block W's. I saw some Jaden Daniels jerseys. So slowly but surely the commander's gear is being purchased. It is catching the fan base pie storm or something. Yeah. It's slow creep. Just stick aside. You're seeing more and more as time goes. I think if Daniels is a beast, you're not going to have a choice. Right. You're going to have to do it. Exactly. Like my son, literally three days ago, my wife was at Target and wasn't even. It was Saturday actually. My wife was at Target meeting my sister for something and they got home and my son ran up to me in the basement. And he goes, Daddy, Daddy, look, he was holding the Jaden Daniels number five commander's jersey. Now we did not make one commander's purchase as a family until that for however many years. We didn't really talk about that purchase. I think my wife and I both had a plan, but my son saw the jersey. He knows I talk about Jaden Daniels all the time. He likes Jaden Daniels. He's three. And he was like, I want that. And my wife was like, we're going to, we want you to be a football fan of the local team. You got to do that sort of stuff, right? We're going to do that. So we now have a commander's item in our household. I tried to convince my eldest to see if he'd want some gear, but he's like, does he play for Man City? Then I don't care. So that was a no from him, dog. Let's go to Dick in DC on Grant and Danny. Once the hop in on the MGM National Harbor Listen Alliance here on Game Night. What's up, Dick? Yeah. I think that Daniels will not do as well as they're projecting, not because there's anything wrong with him, but he's not going to have the time of possession. The shirt's defense isn't going to allow this offense to get on the field that much. 23 or 24 minutes, maybe. Oh, if it's that low, they're in trouble. I think they may be in trouble anyhow, but that was a huge problem in week one. Yeah. You looked like the plays were on the time of possession battle at times in that game. You can't have the ball. You can't make plays. Yeah. I mean, to me, that's the recipe, right? That's the worst case scenario where you're chasing it. You're hurried. It feels like you go three and out. The game is slipping. You're in quicksand since that is, you know, dominate and run it up and down the field. That's what you worry about. Then you get into those bad situations, right, where it's third to million. The quarterbacks pressing a little bit. They're not built to do a whole bunch of points in a short amount of time. Very few teams these days are, but they're especially not. All right. Let's get to our player to lock in on Grant and Danny right now presented by Baldino's lock and key. You're a one stop shop for auto keys and fobs. Visit Baldino's dot com. Mine tonight is going to be Brian Robinson, who had a career day eight days ago against the Giants. He's trying to build on 133 yards the most in his career, 7.8 per carry because he ripped off a 40 and a 33 yard. Both of those were the longest runs in his career. I think there was something they found there with the idea of read option. The defense having to account for Daniels and getting Robinson going downhill. I think you'll see a second straight game where he's up over 15 carries if they're able to stay on their plan on script, so to speak, and they don't fall behind. Robinson is my player to lock in on. John Allen, for me, he's got to be great tonight. Either him or John Payne, but I'm picking John Allen and I'm wearing his t-shirt. It's an honor of him. No tackles for loss just yet. Quarterback sacks just yet only a couple hits to show for some pretty decent effort so far. A breakout statistically is needed for him tonight if they're going to have a chance. That tip pass interception, that, you know, trash at Joe Burrough's feet throwing a bat, forcing a bad throw. He needs to be a factor from the first whistle tonight. Let's go to the Bengals player to lock in on. I mentioned in passing earlier, Trey Hendrickson's a baller. I don't love really good edge rushers that fight their butt off down and down out against Washington's tackles just yet. We'll see how much Brandon Coleman we get on the left side. Or is there going to be more Cornelius Lucas who actually, if you look at the grades via PFF and some of the sites that do that kind of thing, Lucas has maybe been a little better in pass pro anyway early on than the rookie. But Trey Hendrickson, who normally rushes at the right defensive end spot opposite a left tackle is a handful. He's got that carrigan-like ability to just keep coming. You know, he'll have two, two and a half sack games pretty frequently. I have a hard time believing there's not going to be a time tonight to any when I look over at you and say there he is. There he is again. Slappy in the ribs. Another guy to look out for is Sam Hubbard, a little bit more of a run stuffer than an edge rusher typically. But he's a giant guy. He's impactful. He wears number 94. Those are the two defensive linemen up front for the Bengals to keep tabs on tonight. I got to watch T Higgins. When he plays, when he's consistent, he is a thousand yard receiver. He didn't last year because he didn't play missed a handful of games. But he was on pretty much the exact same pace that he kind of was always on. Six, four, 220 pounds. Big, physical, great hands and traffic. Could do a little bit of everything he makes his season debut tonight. He couldn't possibly wait another week. Couldn't possibly have made sure that he was a hundred percent healthy. Later on, no, no, no, had to be tonight against Washington. There is no better way to get ready for football than to preview the game and dive into the X's and the O's. And with our guy, Logan Paulson, who's going to join us next live right here on Grant and Danny on the fan.
