We are taking you all the way up to 6.30 here on the fan. We are giving away tickets at 4 o'clock ahead of the Beltway Blitz to the HFS to pull over at Nat's Park on Saturday. And at 6 o'clock before we say goodbye, we've got tickets to the CAPS 50 Fest. Ladies and gentlemen, Danny Ruye. Let's all make a pact that the Nationals don't play the Mets for a little while. Let's just not do that anymore. That wasn't much fun, was it? No, but what was fun? The Fredericksburg Nationals. Hey, here we go. One, the Carolina League's single-lay championship last night behind Travis Secura on the mound. Oh, he's nasty. Who is going to be the future ace of the Washington Nationals? I have decided it. You can put that one. Yeah, put that one in pen. Whoa, dude, that's a, he's a big leaguer. He's going to be part of the rotation. This is what a number one looks like. The future ace of the Washington Nationals? Secura is that dude. Five innings, one hits, no walks, nine strikeouts last night. He is by far their most impressive farmhand. And look, they got some decent arms in the system. Arlene Susana, who they got in the one. Soto deal throws 102 miles an hour at a nice little year. Travis Secura is different. He's 20. This was his first pro season. They drafted him in the third round last year. 20 starts this year, a 2.3 ERA. He punched out 130 batters and 85 innings. He is awesome. He throws upper 90s. Actually, in high school, touched 100. He actually threw a little harder in high school than he did this year, a little more pitchability. But he also added a splitter I was talking to him about recently. Kind of that Paul Skeen Splinker thing. He is awesome. Last night, he was great. But the Fred Nats, man, down 95 champions. Yeah, how about a championship? Excited for them. Listen, people can roll their eyes. Totally fine. It's not only baseball. So, you know, you never know who's committed. A member years ago, George Steinbrenner used to stack the Staten Island Yankees, for example, with better prospects, so we could go watch them. You know, and like they would win more games than everyone else. So it's like, yeah, so what would we do? First time in 10 years, they won the title at that level. But that's my point. I'm just saying it's that there was nothing wrong with that. At a minimum, you have to acknowledge there's something bad that took place there, right? It's good for those kids. Yeah. When they didn't have good prospects, they didn't win the championship in single A. And now they have good prospects and they did. It's a great ballpark and a lot of friends and family that I know go to those games down in the King George area. So happy for the Fredericksburg National. I don't want to get too deep into the weeds on this. But is there any correlation in the minor league system when teams down there win championships and does it lead to success with their affiliated big league clubs eventually? And that's kind of along the lines of what you were looting today. Yeah, it's not on a mat. I don't think it's like direct, but you'd rather win games at the minor league level than lose them because you learn how to win and generally talent wins. The Tampa Bay Rays as an example have been the best team at the minor leagues in terms of win percentage the last few years. They actually won championships at almost every single level for a couple of straight seasons, not coincidentally prior to this year. They're a playoff team every year at the big league level. So I would say there is a bit of a correlation, sure. But I don't think it's one to one. What's important though is who are the players that are doing it? And last night's the core is on the mount. They'll be in DC in two years pitching for the big club at 22 years old. Yes, I think that's the case. If you look at, for example, the Hershey Bears win in every Calder Cup, there is now pretty much. It doesn't automatically mean, okay, now that once this class graduates, they'll be winning Stanley Cups for the Capitals. It's not exactly one to one, right? But who's doing it? Totally. AK, one of your now top three prospects, according to whoever you ask, in Travis to Cora Shoving, that matters. If you want more on the Fred Nats title or the Nats minor league system, you're going to have to go listen to bust and lose baseball tomorrow when our new pod drops. Make sure you grab that in the morning. But we are on to Cincinnati, literally and figuratively, as a show. Have you begun any of your preparations? You're packing. My wife said, today, are you going to do any packing in advance? They didn't do the thing you always do. The thing you always do. But you pack at midnight and then you fly out at 7 a.m. And that is exactly what I'm going to do. You're going to be doing that. I wouldn't have it any other way. I had my first cursory glance at where we are in the laundry cycle. Okay. Right? Where I'm going. What's not, what's not going to be available to me at all? Like certain underwear that won't be there, socks I know are just long gone. There's no chance they come back by Saturday evening or even Sunday morning. So, you know, I'm just trying to make my evaluations in that regard. What are you going to wear to the game? Do you have any team apparel that you would wear to the game? No, nothing that says the stupid name on it. But it could say red skins or just be the colors of the team. I suppose, yeah. I think I'm going with neutral colors because I just, I haven't worn team gear in many, many years. I'm probably going burgundy and soul shirt from 1 to 6 up in the fan shop. That's pretty good. I'll probably do that. Yeah. Yeah. That's not a bad idea. Yeah. We're winning off the field. I've got one of those. Yeah, we'll go to those. Burgundy and gold winning off the field. It might be my play because that is not a team issued item. Right. Or like, press box Paulson, I'm a neutral colors guy at games. Sure. Yeah. Well, if you're in the press box, you can't be. Raw rying. Well, but you could take press box Paulson out of the press box, but you can't take him out of the Paulson. Well, that's fine. I see that. Even if you sit him in the crowd, he's still going to be a press box. Are you whooping holiday? Are you like it? Let's, let's say first play, little play action. Now, that's, that's where we don't see that much right here. But that's where the quarterback would fake the ball to the running back. Okay. To help enhance the passing game. I guess it's not something that we're doing much. And then they throw a screen to the left. No. Behind the line. No. In this case. Okay. This is Terry McCorn, receiver for the team. Now, he's only got 39 yards through two games. Kind of like. Terry's catching it. Yeah. He's been acting like a minus two. No, he's been acting kind of like a fullback, like an Alex Armus type receiving total of this crowd. This is a little stutter go. This is what we, this is a deep ball. Sales over his head by six. No. Okay. Daniels throws it. And this time, Terry McCorn catches it. And, and, and there's room in front of him to run, and he does run and he runs into the end zone. First play of the game. It's dialed up. Touchdown. Your reaction is 70 yards to the crib, 70 yards to the residence. Oh, I am punching you in the ribs. I'm screaming. I'm screaming. Oh, yeah. We're getting loud. What's that press box, Paulson? That's fan Paulson. Well, I mean, we like that guy. Folks at Condorian Murad are taking us on the road. Yeah. They don't want us to be squares. Oh, I see. Just sitting there on our hands. We got to give the fellows a good time. I mean, like press box, Paulson immediately has a tweet ready, like good look here, good dial up from Kingsbury. Oh, the tweet. Great throw. The tweet will come. I will say though, and people need to prepare for this in advance. I'm at the game. Yeah. I'm doing it on a phone without my laptop. Yeah. There will be way less tweetage. And what kind of major observations am I going to make? If I see an open receiver, you know, Luke McCaffrey, you guys wouldn't know this based on his targets or catches, but he is the third most open receiver in terms of separation score in football. To the first couple of weeks of the season, you know, if I see him running free, maybe that's an observational make by C Jaden Daniels, rip off a 57 yard run. I'm going to tell you about 2012 and how fun that was and haven't seen anything like that around here in a long time. I see Daniels drop a dime for a touchdown. We'll break it down a little bit, but there's just going to be less ability for me to really dig in in the lab. I'm not going to have all my notes. I'm not going to have my special little stack packets that I normally work with. I can't tell you the last time had someone had a 75 yard touchdown catch. All that stuff's not going to be available to me. My fingertips. So it's just going to be a little bit of a different mode for me. A different vibe, which are you comfortable with that? It's not my preference, but what I like is hanging out with good people. I get what you're saying fellowship and camaraderie, and I like being on the road. What I prefer to, am I most in my own habitat with a dress shirt and khakis sitting in the press box? I am. Yes. No doubt about it. There's going to be so many rib punches, by the way, I'm going to have to wear like one of those like a quarterback flat jacket things, you will be questionable for next week with a rib. My oblique is in danger, either a cracked rib or what does Chris Sims get like he went to the hospital with like a spleen thing from getting hit so hard in the ribs? Maybe you'll have a spleen thing. That's right. Yeah. I don't want you to have a spleen thing, but please don't give me a spleen thing. That sounds terrible. It's not my, it's not my idea. It's just, you know, we don't know what's going to happen. Maybe Jaden Daniels lights it up. We don't know. Thursday night football tonight gets week three started Patriots jets on Amazon prime prime time eight, 15 kick in the big apple. How about this? I didn't realize this. This is the jets home opener tonight because they were on the road in week one. Yep. We saw that Monday night football game in Santa Clara week two, they were at the Titans in Nashville. So the jets for the first time since Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles in week one after running out with the flag in the Meadowlands last year are back on that turf for game number three against a Patriots team that has been way better than advertised. They beat the Bengals as an outright underdog, the biggest underdog in week one in all of football. And then last week they took the Seahawks to overtime. They could be two and O coming into this game. So actually, I'm not going to bet this game at all. I think it's going to be low total, which we're seeing. It's not going to be a lot of. The Patriots. If that's the case, there's going to be a lot of yards. So there's no reason to hammer overs on stats and I think it's going to be kind of a field goal type game. It's going to be an ugly Thursday night game. It's going to feel like a 2011 AFC type matchup. You know what I mean? Like Rex Ryan looking for snacks, ground and pound type deal. But yeah, I mean, the Patriots want to play that way. They want you to not be able to air it out. If we have a pushing contest, we'll take our chances. That's kind of what they're they're dragged people down to their level. If you're the Patriots and you lose tight tonight, your defense plays really well. It's carbon copy of the first two games, right? But let's say you lose 17, 13, 20 to 17, something like that. And it looks a lot like it did last week in terms of you ran the ball well, you played defense. You just weren't explosive enough in the passing game. At what point does your Drake made plan start to shift a little bit? There was a report this week that he's up to 30% first team reps in practices. It's all well and good if their original plan was, let's sit him for half a season. We got Jacobi Brissette, we're going to be terrible. We don't want him to play behind this dreadful offensive line. But you know, like I know, you can get impatient when you feel like you're actually not that far away. And if they keep stringing games together, where their defense is good enough that they're in games and they're basically a team that if they made one or two more plays in the passing game, they might be able to win, then the guy who was your best quarterback in the preseason might become more and more interesting. I'm a bit of a simpleton, as many people know, and I'm mocked routinely for it. And I'll take it. I'll wear that. Here's, I got some pretty good if then's pretty good axioms and rules that I sort of govern my thought process. Here it is. The only reason I'm not playing Drake may is because I thought my evaluation was that team is so terrible, right? I'm going coming into the season, you're going to get him decapitated. You're going to get his brains bashed in. It will have a David Carr situation. He'll never make it because he'll be destroyed because this roster stinks. That was my pre that's why I wasn't going to play Drake may right away. That was my argument for it. Through two games. That's not the case. They're not a disaster. They're not a tire fire. They're not an embarrassment. I don't think they're good. I'm not sitting here telling you that that's the AFC's champion. What I'm saying is I thought they'd be as bad as Carolina or close to it. One of the worst teams in the NFL. They do not look like one of the worst teams in the NFL through two weeks. They're at the bottom of the middle. But they're frisky. They're competitive. As you said, they absolutely could be two and oh and probably should be that therefore the clock is now 60 minutes style for me to start playing Drake may like I'm not dropping him into into a war zone. I'm not dropping him into a terrible situation where I'll have no chance. I'm dropping him into a competitive team. That's not going anywhere this year. The team has definitely been better than expected. The biggest reason though why he didn't start the year on the field was the offensive line in past protection and that part of it has not been all that good. They rank 29th out of 32 teams in past blocking according to PFF. Only the Rams, Seahawks and Dolphins have done a worse job protecting the quarterback than New England through a couple of games and to Jacobi Brissette's credit. The ball's been out. We know he's a veteran. He's smart. He's a processor. He's 31 years old. He's been in the league dating back to 2016 at this point. So I think you could make the case maybe that he is better for that offensive line than Drake may would be and maybe that's the whole argument. You're not going to hit the explosives. He's averaging like 130 yards a game and half of a touchdown basically through two games but he has not thrown an interception and he's turning sacks into throwaways basically. So instead of third and 11 you're facing a second and four or something and you're able maybe to pick it up on the ground and get to your 17 points. Now if they're throwing two maybe it'd be a different conversation but by shocking the Bengals the way they did I don't know I just think it's interesting if you're going to be that good defensively and you're going to be able to run the ball is it worth the volatility of a young quarterback where maybe he'll take some sacks maybe he'll make some mistakes but you might get some good in the passing game too and this kind of goes along with what we've been talking about with offense and touchdowns and yards and some other things being down. I think teams have kind of decided against the volatility. The explosiveness that's good with the big negative plays that are bad and they're okay with the more middling you know less highs and lows on the graph like it's okay if we get to 17 instead of sometimes 24 and sometimes 10 we'd rather average 17 every single week where the guy was more of a known commodity and the Patriots are going that route right now. Which you know sounds good if you're if you're you know if it's a big concern to you to eke out that sixth or seventh win which it's not for me big picture I don't I just don't play that game. It's also easy to do that when your defense is going to rank fifth the way it's playing. Yeah and I don't expect them to be fifth in a month but you know again they deserve credit for what they've done to this point tremendously so I didn't know what to expect from Drawd Mayo he's got him playing hard and they all seem to know who they are they know they're not supposed to be something different they're supposed to be this kind of you know a boring grounded pound attacking defense you know run the ball not screw us type offense but to me that's fine for a little while everyone's got their feet wet now it's I drafted this kid third overall for a reason let's get the future started time but if they win this week which is not crazy man they're six point dogs I don't know that the Jets can be anybody by six right now just I don't really see that I don't think they have like that explosive trait to beat somebody pretty badly I think if they somehow win tonight you're just why would you disrupt this you'd probably keep riding it I am jacked up to go to the game though on Monday night it's going to be a lot of fun again let us know if you're in Cincinnati we're putting a little list of folks together to check in with when we're out there you can tweet us at Grand H. Paulson and at Funny Daniel will be broadcasting live on Monday and Tuesday from Indiana will be staying in Kentucky and we're going to the game in Ohio where the Bengals play their home contests and I think Danny Ruier will even maybe have some food at the stadium with me I don't think we're doing a tailgate or anything because we're going to rush over when our show in there we finish the show that we got to go across state lines so maybe sounds like a possibility you might get some stadium fair with your pal yeah are you the kind of guy who's going to like walk around and look for something fun to eat at the risk of missing some football or is it just a question can like to me it's a where's the chicken tender basket how can I get back to my seat I'm not missing a snap no I hear you I'm specifically not doing a chicken tender basket I could see you being a guy who shows back up early second quarter and you found like the sandwich that you read about online no I well there's there's some of that in you know there's a hundred percent that in me I I can't miss football plays okay like I can do this different than that's yeah and that's and that's a fourth inning you show back up and you're like you won't believe the line at roaming roosters right you're like yeah I would you know it's there's one register open and four people wanted food they didn't know what to do anyway for that I need it I need fast but I also need the cool thing I need I need the best thing I can't just do the we're at the Grand Slam boring place so that we're at Bengal corner where you have chicken tenders I can't do that you will find me at Bengal corner right I can't do that here's here's what you gotta do you walk up to the counter you ask for that souvenir cola they got a pay for it in that stadium because Arthur blank a Hall of Famer in my book he's going to the ring of mine for a reason for free right but they say we'll get we'll give you this soda for free if you do a Bengal roar and I'll go roar get my food but if you want a chicken tender basket I'll bring it to you you wait nice you wait in your seat yeah I'll grab two of them and we'll we'll enjoy the game together daris I know I can count on you to enjoy a nice chicken tender basket with your pal in Cincinnati or you're gonna do the Danny bit and go roam the stadium oh I actually do get a little size to roam a new stadium that I've never been before no no it's a lock we're gonna walk the premises when we get there for sure have to but I'm saying for food are you going to prioritize something interesting over football no football football comes priority will be priority in this instance especially because my team will be playing so yeah football will be the priority but I will eat a chicken tender basket speaking of chicken tender baskets daris was blown away by this I don't think you know this about me yet so you know what I always do with my chicken tender basket for many many many years order them and eat them quickly yes but what do I eat them with ketchup horse do you know what I did on accident about a month ago for the first time accidentally put barbecue sauce on the chicken tender close honey mustard yeah I love it it's so good I'm now in on honey mustard on my chicken tenders I couldn't believe it he's a chicken tender mark I never had honey mustard I know how is that possible me and daris with the nats game the other night and I'm like dude this is incredible he's like what I'm like this honey mustard I've been doing it the last two or three times he's like what about before that what about your whole life had never done it in my life honey mustard on chicken tenders is phenomenal really people should find out about this I'm telling people right now they're going to find out as we speak that's why I'm providing this service so what I do is I put ketchup on one side of the chicken tender basket that's for the fries and now honey mustard on the other side for the chicken tenders you have not tried this you will thank me Joe I bet you like it my my six-year-old got into the honey mustard game he's now very excited to dip his eyes chicken nuggets in there and even sometimes when we go to get get chicken tenders he said what's this we said honey mustard he goes those things don't go together and we had to explain a lot of times things that you don't think are intuitive yes mustard and then honey what does that make any sense of course it does it's perfect well you know my proclivities and kind of how my brain works with food so the reason I never tried it a it's a sauce and I'll do sauces that I haven't had so that's number one but number two but it's a paradox how could you ever have had a sauce if you never have one that you never had right but number two honey is in the title not a honey guy right it's very sticky it's very gross comes from bees have no interest in honey unless my like I can't talk or I lost my voice and how many grab some ears to spray into hot water or something yeah so the idea of honey just bothers me so I've always been out on it honey mustard excellent yep thought you might like that yeah that is that is great information for people Terry McLorin John Allen Deron Payne off the slow starts for the commanders who are you most confident still in having a great season we're gonna get into that next right here on Grant and Danny on the fan plug in a Hyundai EV and the extraordinary happens it's not just the ultra fast charging capability and long range in the ionic five and ionic six or the complete warranty details and limitations visit under USA dot com or call five six two three one four four six or three four details yeah through the first two I definitely know their presence inside some games you get more chances to rush and some games you don't so what we want to always make sure is we're finding the match ups when we can and get in some drop back stuff sometimes when you have the production they've had other people go into the game saying okay these two are not going to ruin the game as well so a little bit of both but yeah we're definitely looking forward to them for this week and really you know making their impact and they want that too at Stan Quinn talking about Deron Payne and John Allen on the interior and what has been a quiet statistical start to their seasons welcome back Grant and Danny on the fan the commanders are one in a one and they're going to since he for Monday night football it stands to reason that the three biggest stars on the team who just by way of the numbers have not started fast are going to bounce back and it's more likely I'd say that all three have really good years than don't but if you were to just put your money on one of those guys to still have a monster season still put up their normal numbers or maybe even better who might that be Deron Payne John Allen or Terry McClorne those are the three high paid perceived best players on this team and we'll open up the phones on this at eight hundred six three six one oh six seven eight hundred six three six one oh six seven my answers John Allen the best track record the most consistent of of all three of these players so the years we look at you go you only have five and a half sacks what do you mean consistent you look at his pressure percentages you look at the percentage of times he beats his guy you look at the tackles for loss you look at quarterback hits all the knockdowns all those things he had years like before he broke out for that nine sacks season where the year before he was just as good in terms of those metrics I just listed and I we said it then if you replay every one of those plays again and you gave me those same ancillary metrics that sort of tell you how someone's doing as a pass rusher he would have had nine sacks in the next year he did because of the regression happened to me he's been their most consistent defender I don't expect a super ridiculous incredible year I don't think that's in anybody's cards here among this group of three but John Allen to me has been so consistent and he's at you know way more missed tackle than he's ever had that stuff is coming he'll normalize he's going to be the best first thing I want to do is talk about the two D tackles I think that they were pretty good against the Giants in a way that maybe they haven't gotten credit for there is now some film I think circulating on Twitter that I'm sure a lot of our you know social media oriented listeners have seen where those guys were getting doubled and chipped a whole lot obviously I don't think that is because the Giants were scared of them as much as it is because that's what happens now with your best pass rusher it so happens in this organization that those guys are on the inside and not the outside but also teams don't want the interior pass rushers generally to be the difference maker on a play because they'll kill a play because the quarterback sees him coming in his forced office mark and moves him around in the pocket so I just think it's what you see all over the league generally is we're doubling we're chipping these interior rushers we're making the guys off the edge who theoretically it takes longer to get home beat us right so I actually thought the Giants game was okay if you look at the numbers so far this season as a total pressures count the Ron Payne through two games has seven John Allen has five which is not terrible now here's the issue they've combined to hit the quarterback two times John Allen has both of those hits on the QB pain does not yet have one all seven of his pressures have just been hurries but I actually think pain has been more impactful oddly and the reason I say that is on both of Cleveland Farrell sacks he is the only guy on the team by the way with a sack at this point on both of those plays the Ron Payne has made the play and Farrell has just kind of broken out his mop and done some sweeping up at the end of the snap and he gets the sack on the stat sheet but I would essentially give pain to plays on sacks that he won Allen I don't think has any of those yet but that all said I'm not sure that they've been as invisible as people think but they have not made the loud plays that are noticeable to people so that's number one on McLaren I'd say I'm a little bit more concerned and when I I use the word concerned any what I reference is not just Terry but it is usage and it is the style of this offense it's a little too early to make big conclusions but I think generally the wide receiver will be less significant in this offense than the tight ends and the running backs in a way that's even a bigger discrepancy than I anticipated because you and I both suggested this is what was going to happen and that was why they were comfortable trading John Dodson but if you just look at the numbers on you know target share and percentages and how they involve the receivers they are throwing the ball to receivers behind the line of scrimmage at a rate that is massive compared to the rest of the league that's not Terry's game really I mean he's not going to turn those plays into big gains 38% of their wide receiver targets have come behind the line of scrimmage the highest rate in the NFL the league average is 11% that's the offense right now it'll change some but I don't feel as good about McLaren having a big year as I do those other guys so I'm going to say pain will be my answer based on the fact that I think you could easily have one one and a half two sacks as it is that Farrell has got the McLaren case is is interesting so we talked about this yesterday why offense and really passing totals are dramatically down here over the last couple of seasons and the start of this year really especially and there's a there are a bunch of answers from a chlorine as well one of them and this is not my favorite part about this because I love the guy always ever been is awesome but there are a handful of receivers who if you were the only good option on your receiving core will still put up numbers guys like Cooper cup we saw Malik neighbors Tevante Adams you know go up and down the list of some of the best players Justin Jefferson without a great number two receiver opposite him the million guys that are excellent then there's a kind of another tier where if it's not 72 and sunny don't expect that CD lam 1700 yard season even if he's the only good receiving option week to week so McLaren's kind of below that tier then you add in the offense the design as you said how easy it is for defenses to go all right that's where 17 is probably going to be or even if he lines up and goes in motion one time we can still key on him it's pretty easy there's not much else there I just don't see that breakout happening now I don't think that he ends up on the pace that he's on which is 340 yards or something paltry ridiculous but I don't think that 1100 yards seven touchdown season is coming either you know old Maclaurin is 28 29 29 he is and he just turned 29 it's not like he's about to be 30 but he's not a kid you know and even for his experience in the league he was kind of an older rookies he's always a couple years older than I think of him as if that makes sense I don't plan on disrespecting Terry Maclaurin who I think is one of the great ambassadors of sport in this town and has been one of the true professionals and awesome players in this city for a long long time but I do think it is okay to you know if you can't handle this I'm just going to ask you to put your big boy pants on and grow up a little bit to ask a question which is like where is he right now among the best receivers in the league where would you rank him when they paid him we talked about him being a fringe top 15 wide receiver I would not say that right now is that because of how they use him maybe is that because of like opportunity possibly but it's multiple offenses multiple schemes last year in just the two weeks now but you have seen a decline in some of the explosive metrics I also think the conversation could be different if I could say this if when he was running wide open on the first play the second half in Tampa if Daniels doesn't overthrow him he's got a 70 yard touchdown on his resume yep and his numbers stack up pretty favorably with a lot of other guys there was another play in that Tampa game where he ran like a deep post in the middle of the field and he was behind everybody wide open and Daniels either didn't see him or didn't want to push it you know and ended up scrambling on the play pulled the ball down and ran if you hit on that maybe he had 170 yards or something against the buck running we're talking about has Terry ascended to top five I mean so I get it I'm not saying the plays won't be there occasionally but I just have I don't know that I've ever seen like I don't think you could throw the ball to Jamar Chase four times and he could have eight yards I don't think you could have a four catch Justin Jefferson game where he has eight yards and through four catches this past week with a minus two and a minus three in there but chlorine was at eight yards so if it sounds negative that's not my goal but I think it's just a bear thing to ask like I'll go through it with you yep you're not putting them up there with Lamb and Hill and Chase and Jefferson and Brown right those are the top guys I would say that the next year of like a Monra Saint Brown Garrett Wilson Chris Alave the Vante Adams those guys are above him too yeah what about the next group down like a Puka Nakua Michael Pittman Marvin Harrison jr Malik neighbors Mike Evans like I would say they're all better than that and then you start going you know Nico Collins and I'll take Collins Drake London DK Metcalf Debo Samuel Davante Smith is maybe in that conversation but I haven't mentioned Koopa Koopa Cup yet I always struggle with Koopa cups name Koopa for some reason I say Koopa a lot if I'm doing it quickly yeah I don't know what Koopa cup Koopa Jalen Waddle I would take Terry over Stefan digs right now probably I think they're similar digs is a little bit older as well DJ Moore I would take over him what about Brandon Ayuk or Terry I agree I mentioned neighbors what about Z a flowers or Terry Terry I think I would go flowers probably Riggly or Terry that's close similar T Higgins or Terry Higgins Rishi Ricer Terry Rice George Pickens or Terry Terry I think I would go Pickens but it's a nice debate they're not winner Terry Terry Amari Cooper I mean so basically we're saying that's the tier that's now top 30 that's upper 20s that's different than a couple years ago and we're going this is a top 15 receiver mm-hmm part of it is there's some really good young guys that have joined the league part of it is just the way we view him is different because it hasn't been as explosive or productive but we're now at top 30ish top 25ish maybe that's a different thing it's a different conversation and also and again I want to read or it sounds like this is a negative Terry thing this is the same conversation we used to have about Ryan Carrigan where right Terry McCorn's not the problem Ryan Carrigan is not the problem yeah he's not Von Miller in his prime I'm sorry this guy that's going to set the franchise record for sacks is not Aaron Donald the defensive player of the year I'd like to have a couple more players as good as Terry McCorn and I'll figure it out right like he's he's better at his position than 97 top my head percent of the roster is it theirs maybe it's Cosme Alan Payne everybody else he's he's he's competing where he should be he could also by the way if they wanted to get seven or eight grabs and go for a hundred to a hundred twenty five yards every single week because I mean he is the epitome of consistent and he's not gonna the plays are there to be made he's gonna make he will catch the football he's not gonna drop it he's not you know he's going to do the thing that he's supposed to do I don't think he's gonna create a whole lot off script so to speak he's not gonna separate a ton but he'll make the contested catch he'll get you what's there generally that's up to them now to get him to six for eighty seven for a hundred instead of five for twenty six or whatever this last couple weeks has been on average let's open up the phones the question for you guys McClaurin Alan Payne slow statistical starts only two games in we feel like all three of these guys are gonna pick it up but if you were gonna put money down today on one of them having a huge season still who would it be we're granting because he is you know has that like play making abilities you want to find the spots to go as we're going just into our second you know full lap together there'll be more ops for him than we need them to be what you don't want to do is force the ones that aren't there and make sure even though in a certain route he may be the primary read but if that one's taken away that you don't force that one and go to somewhere else I really respect that about Jaden of making good processing decisions sometimes you have a play design that's you know going to go to one place and it's not there so the worst thing you could do is try to force something in that's not there and so I'm pleased that we're not doing that do we want to get them involved man you bet in the biggest way and so the catch and run opportunities I thought we had you know one or two chances that we didn't go as way when we had a penalty on that I thought on a trap pass I think Nick might have been down the field on a slant that was going to be a big place that one doesn't count as one of the targets to go that's Dan Quinn talking about Terry McLaurin today welcome back Grant and Danny on the fan I actually want to go back to start a next hour maybe and drill down on this idea that they don't want to force the ball to McLaurin despite Quinn acknowledging he's their best playmaker in the passing game and is that good logic would you rather Daniels just kind of read things out and get the ball to somewhere else or should there be more of an emphasis on even if it means occasionally taking a risk like pushing the ball down the field to McLaurin the difference between him and the details is he is completely dependent upon a lot of things pass pro the quarterback seeing him finding him throwing it to him all those things and there's just no denying Danny that part of the issue he's had recently I don't mean these two weeks specifically but really throughout his whole career is quarterback play and we talk about this on this show all the time but he has never one time in his entire career had a legit passing quarterback throwing him the football and the hope is that's about to happen with him and Jayden Daniels getting on the same page as we go this year and you hope that he's still the same guy that could take advantage of right like a couple years ago when he was the fastest guy in the room and had all the explosion and he's saddled with garbage at that position you know you see you saw this with Alan Robinson right who was just with some of the worst quarterback he could possibly fathom and then when he finally got to the great place he no longer had his fastball I'm hoping that's not the case with McLaurin remember since that foot injury at the start of last year that kind of hampered him a little bit I don't know that he's been as explosive of the same guy he can still get it done he's still good but I don't know I don't know if it's by the time that they're ready to wide open this offense and modernize it and have Daniel slinging around that McLaurin will still be able to to get that huge season that we've all been waiting for for him it was great to hear Quinn talk about the importance this week that they moved McLaurin around and that they needed to do more of that yeah it's almost like he's reading the press clippings a little bit on some of the issues people had with week one uh Danny's got John Allen I'm going with the Ron Payne the question for you of the big three stars that make the big money Alan Payne McLaurin who are you most confident in having a huge year still despite slow starts. Shane's in Virginia on Grant and Danny what's up Shane? Commander Grant how y'all doing today? Hey look it's simple Terry's always been a number two receiver since he's been his league unfortunately he just had to be a number one here for the commanders he's a solid number two that's what he is and that's what he's going to be unfortunately he has no quarterback like you said that's got to be Payne Payne I think right now is I got something to prove I think he's been a second fiddle but John's been Alan since he's been here and I actually think he's going to be I have a better year than Alan this year but it's got to be uh Ron Payne I think he's got an explosive year he's got all three guys got step up it's color what it is or by the end of the trade land on they're all going to be out of here that's what I was going to ask you guys a question now look now say if this the say the world the wheels completely fall off do we trade is Terry trade bait now at this point if he's having that big of an decline no I don't think so because I don't think they have the ability at that position to risk losing what he means to the receiver room John Dotson's one thing he's never really shown the ability to consistently get open and make plays but chlorine's excellent he's proven it over many many years he's a great football player even you say he's a two I don't get into the is he a one is he a two thing I think that is is Joe Flacco elite stuff like it it's a moving target weird argument because it's uh it's what would be the art term of something that isn't you know tangible or actually there depressionism uh no not that artsy um I'll think of the word in a second but when it is it's not a real thing you know it's it's not actual what it's actual is where does he rank at one point I think it's easy to kind of make the point this way and we used to say he's top 15 do you still now I think that's a hard argument to make at this point oh I would tend to agree again and a lot of that's based on production and some of that's not necessarily his fault but some of it is right I mean there's there's a hand in it the thing I was the exercise I always try to do it's impossible to prove him where the other but I go if you've swapped right now city lamb was here and term of corn was there when he put up 1700 yards and double digit touchdowns like city lamb did last year do you think so I don't and I think lamb would have better numbers than bacorn did uh here in the same office anybody would argue he's that I mean that's a top five wide receiver but but but you but that's the exercise I'm going okay let's let's let's let's do a body swap let's do that Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds movie where we just change places and see what happens you have to go to the fountain go to the bathroom or something I think that's pretty much what happens yeah David and Bethesda you're on Grant and Danny hello David hey general uh Grant and Danny commando but um I think it's it's got to be Terry Terry MacLaurin uh when you look at Allen he just looks disgruntled he's got his money I don't see him stepping his game up again pain possibly but Terry really is our best receiver dating Daniels has to find a way to get him a ball and he's open a lot so that's the point I want to drill down on sorry to cut you off I thought you were done there but yes he has opened a ton there's no doubt about that and on the two plays specifically down the field where he's gotten behind everybody he's been targeted once and overthrown and then not targeted on another of those opportunities if you hit on a third of those as the year goes on the numbers look very very yes and my guess is they're going to Daniel stores a beautiful deep ball I think he hits that first play of the second half the Tampa on the sideline that he missed probably 75% of the time maybe that's too high but you know 60% of the time as the year goes on more often than not he's gonna hit that but he said you've got to get him the ball they did a good job at making sure they threw him the RPO's and the screens and the line of scrimmage stuff that they can control this week but you heard Quinn say I don't want to force the ball to him I don't think we should just be trying to involve him to do it we got to read things out do we agree with that let's get into that next plus more on if you think McClure and or one of the details ends up breaking out you're listening to Grant and Danny plug in a Hyundai EV and the extraordinary happens it's not just the ultra fast charging capability in long range in the ionic 5 and ionic 6 or the adventure seeking spirit of the Kona electric or the groundbreaking 601 horsepower ionic 5N and it's not just the comfort in knowing that every Hyundai EV is backed by a 10 year 100,000 mile limited electric battery warranty. festival saturday afternoon at nationals park somebody's gonna win a pair at four ahead of the beltway blitz right now though we are discussing the slow start to the season for details john alan de ron pain statistically alan's got two hits on the quarterback pain has zero through two games he does have the two big plays he's made that have led to the only two sacks of the season for the commanders one in each game both by kleil and ferrell and then terry mcclaurant has started similarly to last year frankly a very very slowly he ended up picking it up getting to more traditional numbers he's one of the only five receivers in the league to go for a thousand yards four straight seasons he got to 10.02 last year just barely got over the threshold but he's got eight catches for 39 yards sub five yards per reception which is wild by the way that's hard to do i think he'll be better just like i think alan pain will be better but the guy i'm saying is going to have the best years pain so i've got alan and it's not i don't think anybody's doing this in a walk right i don't think anybody's gonna have that ridiculous year that we you know reference and think about for for you know for decades to come but to me alan's been so consistent his his sort of metrics that aren't the counting stats like the ones we look at we always look at sacks we look at you know uh force fumbles that was false etc and those are usually their form but his pressures quarterback hits tfl's stuff meaning that he is having an impact are pretty consistent throughout the last four or five seasons even when he's had higher sack totals like i said at a nine had a seven and a half even when they're down it's still those numbers have always been there for alan i expect him to get back to that we'll get back to uh what Dan Quinn said about terry mcclorn in a minute because i want to get to that audio on basically this idea of not forcing him the ball and operating the offense based on whoever comes open not making sure mcclorn is more involved let's go back to the phones peeps and lana wants to hop in on grant and danny what's up he hey guys hey you want thanks take my call you buddy oh look out of the three i i want to think it has to be terry because i i know pain and now it just shows you get doubled up on one and i think they are kind of wore out um but terry terry is i know he's a little slower but he's also a little smarter and i've you know terry's been back in jayden from day one that he knows you know he's a young man and it'll come and so he's not pressing i'm not going to press it but i think you're very gonna break out see that it's going to be terry and maybe he's not going to burn somebody deep but he certainly can you still get open he has that ability and i think he could make an impact tomorrow appreciate you i want to double click on this idea because you brought it up that he's not as fast as he was a few years ago what are we basing that on like why do you say that is it just a anecdotal to what you noticed yeah i don't have any measurements i don't have any you know any pop times in front of me or you know but any kind of pf's and lick ran by his assignment on the play design for him to catch a nine route he was there he did everything right he's free on that post where he was kind of clearing out and then has a chance to get into space people may not have even noticed the play but it was one of the jayden daniel scrambles against tampa he was wide open down the field he has gotten free behind everybody twice already this season so to me it doesn't feel like speed is a problem but i will say separation with him has been an issue it feels like over the last couple of years and that sometimes is an explosiveness thing yeah i think it's all part of it to me like i don't know how to describe this because again he might be able to sit down sit down i'm sure that you would do this but he might be able to like race his former self and come close like in a straight line thing right on the markets that go and maybe they maybe they're tied through the 40 or the 50 or whatever it just doesn't feel like he's has quick explosive dangerous as he once was twitchy now part of that could just be everyone knows it's him or bust and there's defenders everywhere he's got nowhere to go maybe that's something i don't know it's just it's a feeling because i'm all i'm working for or working towards is or working back from is where where is that production where is the okay in an offense that threw it a million times last year he barely cracked a thousand yards like how are we getting that you know just still just i'm reaching for an explanation i don't i don't have anything definitive i would love and i just don't know that we're going to get this i don't know that's going to happen but i would love the chance to see what mclorne would look like in a really good passing offense with a really good quarterback and hopefully that is what washington becomes this year it's very possible but in his career to this point this minute this is not an indictment on kingsberry or daniels or the current teams or everyone stay out of your feelings i'm just saying for terry mclorne's career he is never at any point it's a lot of case keenham and sam howl and alex smith and just a bunch of busters dude it's it's he's never had the chance to just go out with and you read in in patrick mohomes and see what happens or even just a reasonable situation you know a cousin's or a dare car or whatever like nothing i would love to see what that looked like but hopefully daniels becomes that guy as the year goes on edwards over spring you're on g_n_d_ what's good hey edwin for how you guys uh great thank you what do you got uh definitely terry definitely terry you know it's frustrating just seeing lazy it's like it's like being a group uh so just to finish it or again over war on the chiro social media um which which guy i don't know he is good as this guy over here at this guy over there you know these guys and they're playing with this functional quote about functional uh passive schemes we were barely even a four passing team honesty you know and there but let me ask you this because this is not just about two games i would agree with you if he was coming off 1400 last year or something i would make two cases then i want to get your response to them number one you just watched malik neighbors for the giants in his second career game that's terry does not do like that it whatever that is is not terry and that guy's better now that's not i'm not trying to knock terry mccorn my point is just that's what an elite young wide receiver talent looks like i know he was drafted in the top ten mccorn was a third round pick but that in and of itself is an acknowledgement that means something i would think he got more targets in the second game of his career than he's ever gotten his whole career number one the number two point i would make is you're bristling at the idea of people asking questions about mccorn when are they allowed to you know his his catch percentage his yards per per catch his yards after contact like all of those numbers are going down essentially year by year when are they allowed to ask questions or you're just never allowed to i'll ask you my question last year just come with a blog a complete blog in fact how might be seen in a functional team like we're even a decent like just a bit added to a professional perspective like calling what you say call your phones i appreciate the call yeah i hear i hear the passion because he's your fan of terry mccorn and my response and again this is this is like the unpleasant part of it because no one no one dislikes terry mccorn he's an awesome dude he is one of my favorite players in dc sports in the last 30 years if i had a daughter i'd be like it was the appropriate age please date terry mccorn bring bring him home i can't wait to have thanks him in dinner with him but dj more had justin fields and matt eber flus went for 1300 yards amari cooper had joe flacko off the bleeping couch who went for 1250 yards is he not saying like yeah also through the ball a million times last year yeah so yeah i understand that eric bnme is currently not scoring at ucla because nobody in the nfl wanted to give him a job and same house a backup but they also threw it a million times like his targets last year he had 132 targets which was essentially the most he's ever had before the other time he had that many targets he caught almost 90 balls last year he caught fewer than 80 yeah two years ago and devonta adams was in uh vegas david car david i just did it damn it dare car got benched he went for 1500 yards and 14 touchdowns in a year where car was ultimately replaced right like i understand that it hasn't been an idea devonta adams was on a raiders team yeah where they benched him he garoppolo he did jimmy garoppolo last year and he got benched and then they went to uh aoc not the politician lady but the quarterback who may or may not be any good nobody knows yet and he had a uh pretty good year statistically i think get a hundred catches for 1100 yards or whatever yeah garret wilson uh had infinitely better numbers slash not infinitely but better numbers last year than than tara mccorna especially on a per game basis see now even sounds like we're killing terry which is not my goal it's not my goal either but i'm but like when you are like oh it's a bad situation it absolutely is no one's ever i've argued this for years like of course it's a bad situation i think it's a bad situation now that should have gotten someone else to help him but the point is like that's the only reason i can't have that that's and that's kind of my point here and that's not the only reason this is one of my big frustrations just generally with a fan base that i love of which i am one and with a group of people that i adore okay you guys are the reason that it's still fun to be a fan of this team the people that are still here that are still grinding that are still watching but there is and this is not specific to dc or commander's fans i think this is team by team but there is this community of folks that any questioning of any of the players that we've just decided are awesome and he is awesome but they're above reproach this team never wins ever they haven't won anything since he got here ever not his fault but we're not the group that is too good to be questioned they haven't had good passing offenses they haven't had good offenses they haven't scored a lot and they've never won so this idea that you just can't question anything no no no no you want to do that with the chiefs or something be my guest we should be questioning everything all the time we should be asking tough questions and it's just you know if a five-year-old with his jersey doesn't like the question i can understand that but big boys and girls driving to and from work i think it's okay to have a discussion about what is he and i also agree with the caller to say man it would be fun to know what it looked like with a real passer for a full season and he was the number two with Jefferson with Kevin O'Connell and Kirk Cousins in Minnesota the last couple years instead of you know Jordan Addison last year or whatever or K uh KJ Osborne my guest is Terry McClure will put up some damn good numbers i agree with you brian's in leesburg what's up brian hey brian hey first of all i hope you guys have a great time this weekend i can't wait to hear all the details secondly i think it's gonna be either one of the two tackles pick them and i have a different take on it i think it's going to be one of them because for them it's about their own effort Terry is hamstrung but had the system he's in they are not i think it's more about their effort and for him it's about the system he's in and i'll hang up to hear your response yeah another way to say kind of something i alluded to earlier the other detacles can dictate a little more directly how they play maclaurin is a product of the environment it is such a dependent position that he could do everything right all day long be running free constantly and have two catches for 29 yards and nobody would know the difference it's fair i mean think about what we said about Luke McCaffrey so i'll cut you off no it's right after week two where the hell was Luke McCaffrey what's going on and then the numbers come out and he was the third most open receiver in the NFL according to separation in on that day but it just the plays didn't go his way it didn't get funnel that way jade didn't see him whatever happened and there's a feeling about him a negative feeling about his performance that he had nothing to do with basically right and and yeah it is super dependent but it's also it's something that that when you're not one of the two or three guys that are literally unstoppable the uncheckable monsters of Justin Jefferson tirey kill you know it times jamaar chase although had him in the case this year but in years past if you're not one of those guys that it does not matter what the scheme is doesn't matter how you bracket or cloud or cover or jam or in and out or whatever the hell you want to call it those guys are going to get there so what a burger if you're not there which is not a crime to not be there there's hundreds of guys that aren't at that level jack in the you can be taken away and mccorn can do a degree there's also the limiting of the offense i really think that's a huge factor they're not right now in the business of terry let's let's block something up for you you go 20 yards and run a you know a deep comeback or you run this uh square and that's going to take three four seconds for us to really get what we want they're not in the business of doing that right now because they got a rookie quarterback in an unsure line shanes and oxen hill on grant and danny what's up shane i just wanted to say mind that i think that terry will be awesome in another office let me turn off this background i think that he will be great in another offense you know i think that he's comparable to guys like brand and i you can you know some of the other top guys in the leak he may not be as dynamic with the ball in his hands after the catch but if he was in the shanahan offense and the ball was being delivered on time i think that he gets enough inspiration he has the speed and he has a hand to be a standout receiver i think in a lot of the officers in this leak and that's one of the reasons why not to make this about jade and danny but it's the reason why i wanted another like a true quarterback so to say prospect and i'm gonna say that i was a main guy you know something because i just thought that he was better at the quarterbacking aspect of things not being an athlete first but um i just wanted to say that that i thought that terry is under appreciated and i think that um kind of undervalued still with this offer this thing is like that it would i thought it would be different than what we say would be enemy and um yeah i just hope that we finally can seem up something and that he gets the credit that he's due because i think that a lot of the things that he you know uh it's not his fault you know that he doesn't get the ball like he said it's on the quarterback to get it and the blocking and i think that he's just been dealt a bad hand honestly i get it and i'm with you shame thank you buddy appreciate you let me ask you this yep i'm a kyle mark everybody knows that it's just so correct by the way anyway uh 85 catches for 1197 yards that's what i predict terry mcclorn to have in san francisco this year 85 for 1197 he runs those square rings those digs like all that stuff underneath crossers and drags beautifully i think they would have basically he'd be more of the ayuk i would call it to like the the debo or whatever but to me he would be like the piaer of the kyle offense in a sense do you agree with that like in in that offense with that kind of play caller he would eat he would you he would you better than hear yes i mean my whole thing with him is i don't even want to use the word dynamic but like he is not a separator but the only word i keep coming back to is like from a weapon standpoint is a dynamicism or something but like that ability neighbors is you all watch neighbors i'll just use that whatever that is it's just not his game you see what i'm saying yeah jamaar chase some of these young he is a very he's like an art monk nothing wrong with that by the way one of the greatest ever do it but it's it's kind of like run cut guy on your back catch the ball like to me that's more of what he is than what the league is trending to which is it'd be nice to have a millig neighbors you know that that's what to me the the 1300 1500 1700 yard guy looks like try to use it a different analogy think think of basketball who's the best score in the league right now to in top of your head luka dancia just who i thought of okay how's that work for i'm out of out of season on the end but yeah i was i was going to say step shooter luka score luka score in 25 again i'd assume 34 a game you know what what everyone knows he's getting the ball it's worth it for that coach to go i don't care that they know i'm going to dial stuff up for luka dancia at all times so i'm glad you said that this was Dan Quinn today talking about not wanting to force the ball to tear him a chlorine and instead instead wanting jaden daniels and he's happy that he's basically going i'm not going to fit that in there to him let's find somebody else try to move tarry around into different spots which you know is important because he is you know has that like play making abilities you want to find the spots to go as we're going just into our second you know full lap together there'll be more ops for him then we need them to be what you don't want to do is force the ones that aren't there and make sure even though in a certain route he may be the primary read but if that one's taken away that you don't force that one and go to somewhere else i really respect that about jaden of making good processing decision stop it there here's my point on this tarry is a contested catch king think about that catch against the cold singing totally but like over the years tarry mcclorn is a contested catch star right the idea it's it's rarely going to be ass open it's just not going to be wide open all the time that quote worries me a little bit like i don't force it no no no to tarry mcclorn he doesn't need to be open to catch the football in fact most of the time the defender is going to be close and he's going to make you look right it's that slant that jaden threw a dime i'm just six seven yards slant whatever but it was like the best throw to me in a small window that he's made nfl drove it in type throw that's tarry he gets takes a big hit it's got a guy hanging from his back draped over him like a blanket and quince point is if it's not there let's not throw it well if it's got to be there then he's not going to get as many looks i will say isn't that the beauty of mcclorn that's that's part of the appeal right is is on a 50/50 he makes your right because it's not 50/50 he's winning so the point i'm trying to make with with donchage and you can pick any of it doesn't score or so it doesn't matter that they know the whole priorities they get to get in the ball even if they know it's critical there are receivers that would fit that bill i betcha justin jefferson appears on the scouting report when you play the minnesota vikings that doesn't matter it's too important they can know all they want he has to get the ball now there's nothing wrong picking again the mba example nothing wrong with i don't know uh miles bridges that's a good player miles bridges a very nice player that cost balance is not worth it anymore in other words i can't stop everything that i'm doing and go i need miles bridges to have 25 shots otherwise we had a bad night at the office right he'll get his he'll get some he's a good player he will he will make some plays and make it happen for you but he ain't luka donchage because nobody is that's an mvp candidate right and that's an extreme example but the same kind of applies here there's a tier of receiver where it doesn't matter the day the weather the the the the opponent that dude is getting the football and that's the only thing i'm walking to my offensive coordinator's office that week going do you have enough for uh tirey kill this week because we we had it we only had a couple catches past week and and you could see our offense really struggle do you have enough in for him this week great i'll see you sunday we're not doing that with mccorn the giants i'm over talking about mollig neighbors but i love mollig neighbors also i just love mollig neighbors how do you feel about mollig neighbors i like them a little bit there was nobody else on that offense that worried you even a little bit not in iota devin single terry plowing for five is cute go go get your five sir 20 of those and you get to score a touchdown the rest of the receiving core it's just jags if they improve a little bit they'd be the 80th best receiver in the league and washington knowing that 16 targets 10 catches buck 27 would have been 11 for 135 if he made the nice catch on the sideline to put the game away they couldn't do anything with him you're right i mean that's that you got if you got that skill said it it doesn't really matter you just find a way but uh we're gonna see if they can continue to scheme it to make it work for terry mcclorn grant and danny on the family let's talk about the quarterback position who's hot and who's not watch us right now want to talk about the quarterback position who's hot who's not in the nfl are double plays coming up at three forty five and in 30 minutes on the nose we're giving away those tickets for you to go see the hf festival at nats park on saturday all right let's start with the quarterbacks who have played the best so far this season because it's a pretty surprising list how about what Derek car has turned in for his homework in new orleans to this point through two games car five touchdowns in a pick completing 77 443 yards car went for 203 scores against the panthers and then took the second half off and then 243 in a pair against the cowboys was intercepted once they have scored on every single drive clint kubiax got them under center 70% of the time the most of anybody in the league and it is working throwing it back to the you know early 2000 chana hand style right i mean that the office has been unbelievable good they haven't even needed chrysolave at this point i mean he's barely been involved this hit scored 90 plus points through two games what an absolute display level of confidence let's go one to ten scale here that Derek car has a great season i'm gonna say seven and a half i actually really like the fit for him in his offense under center drop back play action i like their weapons okay he's not gonna sustain this heater that would be impossible but i think it's gonna i think it's gonna be okay i think he's gonna be good i yeah we're not doing mvp record setting type stuff right but he's going to have a decent year because they they run the ball tremendously well they're everything's kind of you know one look leads to another everything's related they're doing fakes off of fakes encounters off counters etc everything looks right for them i think what's the league adjust this will cool off which is i'm sure a hot take after they've averaged 45 points a game this is me saying they won't average 45 points again the rest of the way as there's more tape out there but i i think he has a nice year another quarterback who has played very well sam darndold in minnesota 72 complete 476 yards with four touchdowns and two picks they're two and oh by the way their defense is number one in blitzes number one in pressures number one in sacks pretty much every single category right now under brian flores but as far as the quarterback goes he had a walk in the park kind of game against the giants 19 of 24 with a couple of touchdowns and then he was very solid against san francisco now the numbers are buoyed by a 97 yard touchdown obviously the justin jefferson and jefferson did the heavy lifting on that play but who cares i mean otherwise he's still through for right around you know 170 yards a touchdown and was 16 of 25 passing so it was a much more pedestrian darndold performance in week two but hard to argue with what they've gotten out of him in their first two games post cousins he's been fantastic there's no changing that there's the period here's the next paragraph i i just can't give you one to ten i'm not mentally there that sam darndold is going to have a good year i i'm two out of ten confident i just don't i can't i with not him if his name was sam stevens i go i maybe maybe they found somebody there's too much oh my god what are you doing sam darndold in my in my memory back how old do you think he is 27 27 still not very old still a guy that was in terrible situations earlier in his career totally was with the jets in the panther specifically he has since worked with kyle shanahan and kevin o'connell that'll turn you around a little bit i'm gonna give him a four and a half out of ten like you i don't completely believe in the player but i believe in o'connell i believe in jefferson in the scheme i believe in receivers are going to get open from time to time and i think that uh the way minnesota is playing defense he's going to be put in some admirable positions where they're going to be in and a lot of football games are going to be leading a lot of football games so that helps too they also are running the ball really well with erin jones who they just brought over this off season last year there uh uh alex madison was the guy and they struggled this year it's like erin jones and tight chanler those guys are pretty explosive i have a baker mayfield we saw the baker mayfield show in week one he crashed back to earth a little bit against the detroit lions in week two but through two games listen to these numbers four hundred seventy four yards five touchdowns in a pick two and oh tampons completed seventy four percent of his passes he's also rushed for a touchdown as well baker mayfield just twelve of nineteen for a buck eighty five in his last game but that first gem against washington still looms pretty large level of confidence that mayfield who was good last year yeah has a strong season for the box so probably right in the middle of five this is this is a really good fit right because you mentioned it evans godwin and rishad white all excellent pass captures on their own right so having all three of those guys would help anybody i like that old line um the division doesn't scare the hell out of me i think he ends up having an okay year what i said before the play washington is he'll have a great first week and then slowly peter out as the season progresses and not do what he did last year last year to me was more like that's that's the positive top end extreme i think he settles into just underneath that seven out of ten confident he'll be good again last year was four thousand yards nearly thirty touchdown passes ten or fewer interceptions i think something like that i think it'll be similar again this year evans godwin solid defense bad division no reason i don't think that mayfield in his second year there isn't going to be pretty comfortable uh now week one was the lion's game and he didn't play washington yet we wouldn't be talking about him at all it was kind of pedestrian but you get to play the commanders your numbers are going to be pretty good and i just think as you said it's a solid fit as we saw last year the last one of the hot quarterbacks to start the season here on grant and danny kyla murray lit it up against the rams in week two four in completion 17 of 21 that's 81 percent 265 yards three touchdowns and basically he did a lot of the heavy lifting in the first quarter when he went four four one thirty tomorrow ven Harrison for a couple of touchdowns they ended up taking their foot off the gas pedal because they were just embarrassing the rams should have gone running clock like high school football week one he was solid as well 28 34 lost to the hands of the bills for Arizona but he was 21 of 31 for a buck 60 in a touchdown kyla murray playing lights out football four tuddies and zero picks this season 73 percent pastor what do you think i am a believer i am buying heavy stock in this one to me not having clif kingsbury around and him being healthy with a bit more rejuvenated roster around him i think he's in for a huge year i don't know how huge but i think it's gonna be a big way so give me a an eight and a half out of ten i'm gonna go with a eight out of ten as well adding Harrison to that offense is gonna be really really helpful for murray he needed a guy like that to alleviate some pressure all right let's look at the flip side these are the bad quarterbacks in the league i suppose the category is who is the next quarterback to be benched post the benching in carolina of brice young this is from bed online they've got odds here the odds read most likely daniel jones of the giants at four to one i guess they'd go to drew lock although that fan base loves tommy devito bo nix at six to one you'd be benching a rookie to go to zak wilson little harder for me to believe unless he just plays really badly for several weeks jacobie bersett at six to one even though no england's overachieved i think the argument here is rookie waiting in the wings drafter third overall drake mays nipping at his heels will levis hate to one this one's interesting who's the backup to will levis in tennessee i'm trying to look it up just now but i'm getting a little slow internet situation will levis has had a back-breaking awful turnover in each of the two games the titans have played it's really cost them to the point where he walked over and his coach said to him what in the bleep is a matter with you mason root office their backup oh there you go i guess i could see that you know if he's a first-year head coach you're off to a bad start everyone's gonna be questioning you if will levis doesn't pick it up i could see a path to that the other one's gardener menshew and vegas with the raiders because eight no konnell is backing him up who played last year and they were in a nip and tuck competition until basically right before the season that was the last competition to end in fact so of those guys where you could take somebody else who's the next qb in the nfl to be bent levis is my answer just because of these galling mistakes right where tennessee's been in these games that they've played defensively they've been pretty damn good i would say they've they've frustrated opponents and really made them work for stuff and it's been you know lead relinquished because of a horrendous play in week one against chicago and you've got a similar story in week number two against the jets you can't do that as you're trying to sort of establish this new way of doing things doesn't necessarily mean it it sort of does that you wouldn't go back to him at any point but as you're trying to build the calahan way so to speak you can't do that right this is how we're going to win it's take care of the football place of defense ground and pound oh my god will love us you're not fitting the program so maybe then they go to mace rudolf i'm going to go with jacobie bersett at six to one third most likely according to the odds new england plays the jets tonight on thursday night football they may beat the jets i think they're so far through two weeks a comparable team if they play close though and lose they then have the forty nineers next week in san francisco let's say they lose that game and they're one in three and they're playing close i think with the dolphins texans jags jets coming up on the schedule that's a little softish landing spot where if they wanted to get drake may into the fold that would be a time where you could do it the dolphins without tua you're going to lose to the texans but it's back-to-back home games then you go to jacksonville be a nice weather game against the jaguars then you're back at home for the third time in four weeks against the jets then you play the titans the bears which doesn't look like a big deal the rams maybe they're healthier but it's it then the dolphins again the colts like that's that is a easy schedule by the way for the patriots so i'll say in the next few weeks we see drake may or settle up something to say about that if he plays well right when i i don't think they make a change so the only the obstacle there to me is first-year head coach trying to you know sort of puff his chest out a little bit and say this is how we're going to do it and a former teammate of jacobie bersett yeah it's like we're going to compete and we're going to the best player is going to chance is going to win and blah blah blah the best chance to win and that player is going to play and we're going to eat nails and crap lightning i don't know that that to me would be the obstacle right is the is like sort of the macho attitude of it but big picture for the organization may is the answer just a matter of when if you're going to do that with lightning and what is thunder in that analogy exactly see what i'm saying i think we know it's thunder a little roaring thunder the roaring thunder and you've never admitted to doing that at work you okay in there knock knock that's just to run thunder can we get a courtesy flush uh the double play comes your way next on grant and danny what's going on in our lives nothing to do with sports and then right at the top of the hour in 20 minutes from right now we're giving away tickets to the hf festival on the fan so you you you our double play every day three forty five is driven by your local washing area honda dealers stop in for a great deal on the rugged incapable honda pilot contact your local washing area honda dealers today so here's my question i thought this was more ubiquitous than it is okay so it's the fall which is wonderful it's our time and uh the wife gets inspired in the fall for delicious food stuffs we had wings over the weekend that you got from wagman's she's made chilly a couple different times as the weather's starting to turn which is just so nice windows open eat the chilly football type times so we had a different dinner the other night okay and chilly from sunday the dinner from the other night i think it was either monday or choose d had rice as part of the meal i love rice so much one of the reasons why i find it impossible to lose weight any hurdles i combined leftovers like vultran i put a base of rice down then i put the chili on top of it mix it up put on the microwave then as i'm stirring it heating it up at a little cheese kind of normal topics i got looks like i had just i don't know like it invaded another country like i was a space alien with a million heads i thought the chili rice combo was fairly standard because i remember from being a little kid going to elementary school and that was one of the lunches like in the rotating group of lunches that you had when you just went to school and like here's the lunch from the cafeteria it we had chili and rice and it was a pretty standard thing i've always thought that goes together apparently i'm one of the weird ones so i ask all three of you that uh work on this radio program together with yours truly is that a standard combo or like an eccentric combo is that a weird combo having a little have a little rice with your chili i i would prefer rice because i like rice with anything yeah and especially in that situation you put the rice down as your base you plop the chili on top it's wet tops it up makes perfect sense as far as i'm concerned having said that one i don't do chili not a chili guy always something better it's just not something that's for me there's beans in it so i'm out to when chili is done at my house and i don't take part there's never rice involved but if i was eating chili and rice was an option every time i'm putting it right on top of that rice okay thank you yeah thank you from the dude dude before we go on chili you guys are generally aware of chili yeah it's merits so great okay then okay just give it give us a second i'm also aware of chili and it's merit yeah so we're good um daris please continue uh i can't i'm trying to recall if i've ever had jillian rice it sounds phenomenal and it sounds like something i would do i don't recall ever having it made that way now my one seed for bases if we're calling it that like i like you think of an ice cream sundae like it's got that cookie base or like a piece of cake or brown or whatever my favorite base is cornbread that's the one seed and it's perfect it just goes and now you're going you're chopping it up i like to do a base of cornbread chili and then take a piece of cornbread and crumble it on top almost like a topping it's a base and a topping it's like a big cornbread sandwich but i beat it with a spoon of course in lieu of cornbread the rice to me serves a similar purpose right so you're a cornbread guy at the base of chili yeah it it sounds like it works to me i don't see why that's such an issue um but yeah if it's whether or not it's standard i can't say i'm familiar enough with it to know if that's standard right i know what you got so first and foremost you actually sleep on wendy's chili some of the best chili in the game but that's another topic for another day but i think rice and chili sounds really good but you don't really it's not normal no it's not normal but yes but still though like it sounds good and it kind of seems like a form of like a jambalaya in a sense like kind of like an americanized version of a jambalaya especially if you've got a superior chili on the spectrum chills like if you've got the Texas like that terlingua red which really is just a bunch of beef with seasoning and it's delightful you're not getting me the same thing bad about about the success of joe in a sense yeah but in a minute it's got that like anger to it it's got that heart like you don't need the you don't need the rice there no you for that rice always makes everything better so if you're asking should rice be with it my answer would be yes i just it's traditionally not with it but rice with anything that is soup like and or scooped out of anything i think rice is perfect so send your pal a tweet i'm at funny danny not that is this good because i know it's good i've i've i've no doubt there there's no problem that's not the question is this normal like is this as mainstream as i think it is or thought it was before i've now had a cross-sampling of about a dozen people that have been like i've never heard of that and that feels weird to me that's where i'm at i finished the miniseries on netflix the perfect couple i told you about this a few days ago it took me a little while to bang through it what with football monday night thursday night sunday night it's just a lot of football but i got through it it's six episodes it is your prototypical it's like the length of one of the old hbo miniseries netflix calls it a miniseries and came out on netflix on september fifth it's got an awesome cast i think it's a netflix og um but they pay a lot of money for these because nicole kidman and leave shriver and uh eve houston and some other stars are in it it was very very good uh twists and turns like a roller coaster which is what we all want you're kind of always wondering what's happening it is exactly what your boy is looking for it's a paulson will house you know who done it yeah i'm going well could dot com it is time for your belt label it's covering the nats the nfl and the commanders so let's start you off on the diamond dave jagler has been on the call of a couple of the buckles against the Mets here late no more Mets please so we're good on moving on from that series dave whenever you're ready thanks well the one thing about the Mets i will say this is they're giving off a little bit of a 2019 that's five in this respect they were 22 and 33 which is pretty close to 19 and 31 and they've had a heck of a second half and with what Jose Iglesias has done was talking to their folks they're like it's just what Para did for the nationals in 2019 mid-season pickup kind of you know leading the clubhouse and you know the omg thing is kind of their version of what the baby shark was i'm like oh all right i can maybe buy what you're selling i don't know if they have shirts or in Strasbourg atop the rotation but the nigh has been pretty good they get in they're going to be a tough out i will say that so then that's ran into a buzz saw unfortunately enough to see them again yeah so one of those things jags where i'm watching the game last night DJ hers is pitching and i think there was a change up about you know eight inches off the plate that got dumped in the right center field for it for a hit a bloop down the right field line that Dylan Cruz actually made a great plate of short hop and hold to a single a seeing eye ground ball in it the love of CJ Abrams it wouldn't like they're they're banging them off the walls and hitting a bunch of nukes for a lot of those crooked numbers it's just one of those didn't feel like your nights i how do you assess nights like that for someone like DJ her she's looking for positives yeah i mean i look at the big picture of the season and say this kid has been a tremendous positive unfortunately because they've limited his innings he's only thrown you know 80 some innings in the big leagues this year and so when you give up a touchdown and three of those runs scored by the way after he left the game his era was in the three five after he pitched three scoreless innings by the time the day is done it's at four three i mean he jumped almost a run with that touchdown so i mean yeah it's easy to say last night was a rough night but you know the first time through the lineup he looked really good i just i think over the big picture of the season this kid has been a tremendous positive now are there are there growing growing things that he has to yeah he needs to be more pitch efficient get deeper in the game he's got that effectively wild thing going on where he can he can kind of lose control and then dial it in and last night a couple of walks heard him he's going to have to improve the command but clearly the stuff is there because when he's in the zone he gets swings and misses he gets a lot of strikeouts so from what we thought he might be coming into the season to where he is now i'm not going to let one bad ending ruin that he's had a very good season jags i wanted to get your thoughts on some news in the rotation so Trevor Williams is coming back and is going to make a start and then they're going to go to a six man rotation it sounds like for the last couple turns through the rotation so i guess a two-part or first on your thought on the six man idea and then second this will sound silly but and i know he's making six million dollars but it's kind of admirable to me that Trevor Williams at 32 on a bad team that's you know wasn't going anywhere like with maybe a couple starts left in his in his arm later in the year scratched and clawed all year to get back at the end of the season yeah i think as far as the six man rotation first this is all about the other guys i mean uh that we've been seeing with Parker and you know sum up and down and and Irvin some down now up the last couple hers all these guys are well over you know innings totals that they've ever pitched before so you know whether instead of having three starts left maybe they have two or in the case of hers one so this is kind of looking at the big picture of those guys trying to get them to finish the season and not have to quote unquote shut them down so that's part of the six man rotation and as far as Williams i mean i think this whole thing kind of took longer than we thought it would but at this point you know coming off the end of the of a two-year contract he needs to be out on the mound to show that that he's healthy going into the offseason hoping that someone can bring him back i mean he was so effective early in the season as kind of that that's five inning pitcher now he's signed with nationals to be a starting pitcher i don't know what team is going to look at him and say you know after throwing 60 some innings hey we're going to give this guy 150 innings next year and give him a bunch of money so maybe he's back to that swing man role that he was successful with when he was with the with the Mets a couple of years ago so i think it's important for him just to show that he's healthy and maybe there's some value there about a reunion with the nationals they you know he could be a guy to step in the rotation but you know they've never really had a true long man this year and he could be someone who fills that role and certainly a veteran to help the young guys now that Corbin's going to be departing could be a good thing as well jags i like tenor uh just what i see that you know he's probably maybe better at second right now than he is at third defensively but i like is it bats what does he look like to you with 500 played appearances or give or take next year well the question is what position is he going to play defensively i mean yeah i think you'd like to see 500 of bats because he hangs in there against lefties they've been playing him against lefties so it's not like a situation where you'd say well we have to platoon him he gives you a good at bat so i i think there's some some potential there but the question is where i mean we know that they they like our see at second base third base is an open spot but he has struggled there defensively so uh i i think you've got to find out whether that's a utility role or is there some dh in there but uh he's definitely put himself in the mix to look at going forward dave jagler will be on the call tonight nats cubs and wriggly field he and charlie slos can be heard right here on the fan at about seven o'clock jags thanks for the time we appreciate you okay guys take it easy somebody good let's keep the blitz moving and talk about the nfl we spin around the national flip bullet with our buddy mike jones of the athletic mike what do you make of the new orland saint scoring on every possession so far and being two and oh with a quality win against the cowboys man i i don't know because i saw week one and said well it's just against the pathetic carolina panthers and then when they went out there against dallas you start to wonder is this team actually for real when he talked to people during the off season some people wondered if maybe this was darrick car's last shot to be able to hold on to that job and if if you would wind up finishing out this year as their starter just based on how last year went for them very disappointing they get a new offensive coordinator clank kubiak obviously was working with cau chanahan the son of gary kubiak another mike chanahan cycle and he has just infused that offense with life they have the weapons but then you look at their defense as well which i think it's held teams like fourteen and a half points a game ranking among the stingiest as far as yards gain they have a really well-rounded squad now again it's two weeks so we'll get two worked up about it but this is a really big test for them this week i know that eagles wet the bed um against uh the falcons on monday night football but it's still a talented team if they can go out there and be as i mean they don't have to score 40 points but if they can go out there and beat the eagles or look very good as they're competing then i think you'll have to say that yeah they are a team that early can contend in this division and maybe in the conference similar question here mike for the chargers they're they're strength of schedule thus far as that blown you away right they beat the the aforementioned panthers and they handled the raiders in week number one of the raiders coming off a surprise one of their own right but you look at this and i guess i'm asking when do we kind of go or do what when do we kind of get rid of any asterisk or the yeah but with them like they haven't beaten any good teams just yet pitzburg this week which would be interesting kansas city in two weeks but when do we kind of take away the label of yeah who have they beaten and that they're there for real what do they have to do to kind of prove it to folks well i mean i think if they come out of this first quarter of the season and they have a winning record and we will see how they if they even if they give the um chiefs a fight then i think you can say hey they're they are a quality team their defense is really good i think it's uh like six or eight points a game uh that they're giving up that's it um and you know obviously they're running the football really well we haven't even seen just in herbert start slinging the ball around a whole lot and have a big passing game they have it needed it uh so if jim hardball can go out there say they get a win pitzburg and then they can give a tough fight uh to the chief then we'll say hey they are improved um i don't know how far they can go and what they'll do against the tougher competition but this recipe is working for them and we'll see how long it carries them what team that is off to a bad start is surprised you the most and are you most worried about um i don't know i think i'm a little bit surprised by the ravens um in the way that they've looked but they did lose their defense coordinator and they lost their uh defensive line coach and their line backers coach so that's three talented guys that were the brains behind their operations and now they're giving up twenty five twenty six twenty five uh points a game that's not what we're used to seeing from a raven defense their offense is actually racking up the yards they're you know gaining more than 400 yards a game but they're just very middle of the road scoring wise they've got to get things clicking there and you know Mike Shanahan used to always say don't rush to judgment before the first four games of the season are in the books especially now because these teams don't play in the preseason so if they can get things short upon the defense and i think they're going to be okay it's going to come offensively a little bit concerned also about the bangles they always start slow but like you know if you get in a hole one of those two teams if the the ravens are 0 and 3 or if the bangles are 0 and 3 then it gets really tough to compete in this division because you have uh you know it's a knockdown drag out with all the teams that face each other right here and so it's going to be hard to go on a run but thank you as always man all right see you guys appreciate you buddy hit that local 53 sounder my god that's our old four season music and here he comes on the beltway blitz Earl how do you feel right now kind of a vibe check about Monday night football at Cincinnati wait did you say Monday night football yeah you know what my music this week is that's my music look at that look at that what it is right there this week what do we expect look it's it's a big game because it's Monday night we have seen a couple of weeks of jadon daniels uh who's looked pretty good i mean this is you know record a side which is pro sports look record counts but record aside this season was about mainly have you found a quarterback and you can't say two weeks in but you know so far so good uh the best of the rookies i know you guys have been talking about it uh this week and for a couple of weeks so he's he's done the job all you can ask it would be nice if they can score some touchdowns kind of an important thing i think in the nfl these days but this is a we go through this now every year guys where the the first month is just chaos in the nfl the first two weeks have been amazingly chaotic around pro football you just heard i'm talking about you know the ravens could be 0 and 3 this is a team everybody's Super Bowl pick they're still everybody thanks for the best 0 and 2 football in nfl history 0 and 2 team but you know this is where we are the miami dolphins now without a quarterback maybe now for the rest of the season uh one of those hot picks so we we don't know uh the cowboys got slaughtered uh buying new orleans who now the saints all of a sudden look like you know they're you know world beaters what we should see this week is a team that goes in there and uh i don't want to see doesn't get embarrassed that's probably a bad term but this is this is a potential set up because it's monday night it's in centenaddy that's kind of a tough been a tough place to play a loud building uh they've got a really good quarterback still even though he's trying to battle back from last year's injury and joe burrow oh they have a receiver that can torch you and they've gotten you know beat up by receivers already the first couple of weeks so you you kind of want to brace yourself for this but this is also the nation's first look at jaden daniels and if he should play well if they win this game on monday night we've heard a lot of national talk all these shows about jaden daniels for a while now through training camp and early this season watch out because you know that could that could go up to 11 if he plays well and they win monday night oh no doubt this story is going to be awesome come tuesday what about the yeah maybe ron will have something to say about it as an analyst i'm quite sure you will you know they got a quarterback i would have taken are you more worried about the corner position or the lack of pressure from the edge you've talked to me all summer about this what i keep bringing up the defense of the secondary was always a concern of mine i think one of my other concerns offensive line that's been okay but jaden daniels is i mean everything's coming out quick he's doing a great job so that was obviously part of the plan uh let's not sit back there all day let's just do something quick and cover up that deficiency the secondary is just i don't know what they do grant it's it's they just don't have the players oh in the secondary you need defensive backs that can cover receivers they seemingly can't find one still um and you know the Emmanuel Forbes injury opened the door for a guy they signed this off season who may have been worse uh so it it's it's going to be a problem all year unless they add more players and guys who somewhere are not playing football that are suddenly better than what they have this is going to be a problem yes you can make up for it with some pass rush and i know that was a topic with with Dan Quinn i'm going through the stuff right now i'm going to use some of that on countdown to kick off what you can do it should be a strength of your team and it's not that that is a concern but i think that comes around with the interior the line playing better and paying an alan i mean you've got to have them you know be a force inside i know that hasn't happened statistically yet but no matter what that secondary guys they're changing the players back there are not changing and that's a concern because uh they had a rookie torch them last week a guy in the second game in the NFL what's jamar chase gonna do this week with joe burrow i cringe to think about what could happen or i wonder what your interpretation is of this when dan gone was talking and it was a thoughtful answer and i certainly appreciate it i'm not necessarily criticizing him just i'm just reading into it here a little bit when he said we don't want to force the ball to terra mccorn the kind of putting words in his mouth but that was the theme right yeah where i'm going if terry was that great you would force it to him because it wouldn't matter like you do what the giant she said from malik neighbors you would do what kevin o'connell is going to do for josh the jefferson that you do what mc gennell's going to do for tarry kill and so on down the line i appreciate that answer because it's you know reflects about jaden gannell's where the offense is but i'm kind of going if you if you in your eyes he was that awesome you would force it to him that that was kind of my interpretation i wonder what yours was and and forcing is an issue because what do you mean by quote forcing the ball now malik neighbors was getting open so you know you just throwing them the ball what you know what 18 times wasn't for him last week's targets it's crazy so and that's the thing if forcing the ball to mcclaurin means he's not getting open and you'd have to risk a turnover to do that then that's more of a receiver problem right than an offensive scheme problem so no one wants to hear it and and i know you know the commanders nation on x and all the social media don't want to throw their guy into the bus he gets he's our guide he's given up so much but you know tarry is a is a professional and i know it's a new quarterback again but you know same year same time next year basically for him so they're gonna have to get some chemistry going at this point i wouldn't worry too much but it is concerning the guys got 39 yards receiving your your number one guy your number one receiver has not done much but guys you know i can look around the nfl and we've seen Travis Kelsey is not put up great numbers that this year so far and i know that's kansas city it's different situation but it's happening all around i i'm not that concerned because i kind of trust in tarry mcclaurin before i go real quick because i know we're at the end yep this week i kind of this is a full circle game i mentioned oh riverboat but you know what this is the rematch right from 2020 and and this goes back to the draft when chase young was number two pick and commanders lost a year before that and you know the whole miami thing and they lost a chance to draft joe burrow look where we are now uh joe burrow has the still obviously lingering effects of the wrist injury youngest in new orleans uh the top of that draft jeffa cuda in detroit he's already gone from there number three pick defensive back andrew thomas has kind of been a sort of a bust with the giants their offensive tackle to a may never play football again and justin herbert is now jj mccarthy in the pros you know he's throwing 15 times a game this is where we are with that so they've come full circle this is the kind of circle around you play them every four years game manor these teams in different places and we'll see what happens monday with joe burrow potentially you know maybe never right again i i love joe burrow and he's already been to a super bowl you can't take that away but there's a weird way and maybe the commanders four years later are in a better place at quarterback then they were back then we'll see couple a championship appearances super bowl yeah and they're just looking at different team now it would be hard to not take burrow right now but if i gave you the option two guys you're drafting will you take burrow or you take you can have one or the other burrow jadon dangers right now where they are what you know about them who would you take burrow burrow easily right okay well i don't know if it's easily i don't know if it's easily i don't but you're right you do take burrow health not with standing right right that's the part that makes it maybe not easily but i think burrows the top three quarterback okay yeah the variables the rest the the other the variable is a young quarterback where ten percent of them do do anything right let me take the other then we take the other layer everybody thought well you should have gone to it at number two how does that look now when you take what you have now over what miami has right now sure i mean it's but i'm saying i mean it's been four terrible years that we had to sit through but yes i never was it two a guy any more than four a grant more than four 34 i think it's like 32 but since that's right all right we're listening this weekend oh see buddy okay see boys and girls can you play the monday football theme one more time on the way out out of there it goes yep we got to get those chimes going daris we got to hear those a few times asking you shall receive my god look forward to it monday and i football your boys will be there in Cincinnati the commanders and the bangles grant and danny on the fan that there is your beltway blitz next big and a jayden daniels you've played two games so far as you've been better about what you expected worse than you thought that'd be hard to imagine really you might add some really lofty expectations we'll dive in on that next on gnd you you you you in 90 minutes we'll give away tickets right here on grant and danny to the caps 50 fest third i blinds performing past capitals current capital is going to be there it helps kick off their season 50 years of caps hockey alexo vechkin needs a 45 or so gold season to surpass wing gresk when that be nice he is in his sights man he needs one more ov like big year and he can pull it off this season i was shot with our buddy um dark force dc news now the other day about this just i'm i'm again i these come up a lot but this happens as you grow older i'm old enough to remember all of the greskie milestones when he passed gordie how when it was beyond absurd that he was going to play in los angeles because that's like what he and his family wanted when he left that Edmonton dynasty behind and how un like how ridiculous that record seemed because it was from a time that we don't have anymore where it was easier than it's ever been to score uh you know the the name of the game was getting up and down the ice and it was odd man rush versus odd man rush it was everybody was fast breaking all the time and those Edmonton teams were beyond stacked it was like if you played there during that time you're probably a hall of famer playing next to wing greski and ovechkin in a much harder era to score is going hopefully knock on wood to walk greski down and surpass that record it's it's stupid dude like there's only a couple of those in dc history where when you're done you're number one at the top of the list art monk did it and there's a chance that ovechkin does it a pretty good one it's it's amazing 41 goals behind wing greski on the all-time list for alex ovechkin all right let's get into jayden dangels we got french schwaab coming up yahoo sports five o'clock about 30 minutes out that lead us around the nfl had a week three getting started with thursday night football tonight want to have a little opportunity to take your temperature on jayden daniels we'll do that on the mgm national harvard listener lines right now eight hundred six three six one oh six seven question on the table for you is based on your expectations for daniels has he been better what you expected or worse than you anticipated and i just can't imagine he's been worse because he's been pretty solid unless you thought he was immediately going to just light it up and take the league by storm or something but it's your answer not mine eight hundred six three six one oh six seven and if you want to give us a little more detail what's been better or what's been worse or what's been the same through two games for jayden daniel so you lead the way i'm annoying on these kinds of questions because this is what i expected i i was a jayden daniels mark i'm not saying i invented it but uh you know watching him play i i coveted the skill set not knowing the washroom would have the number two overall pick and that he'd be available to them and i wanted him throughout the draft process for this reason i thought day one bare minimum he'd be fine and that doesn't sound like a compliment but it's it is that's what it's meant to be because of his skill set because of the work ethic because of who he is i think it's he is a high floor player higher floor that we usually see for these quote-unquote dual threats right i think there is a the chances of the bottom dropping out and him being an embarrassment we're never really there to me now that doesn't mean he's a superstar an MVP candidate that's what i hope the high ceiling that's that's i still see but i'm you know that's impossible to get to only a couple guys get to do that but to me this is what i saw what i thought you could spoon feed you could bring him along slow enough still have some progress still have an offense and and you know slowly build with him and we've seen exactly that for two weeks yeah i think like another way to to word it would be are you've been overwhelmed underwhelmed or this is about what i expected there have been things that have been better than i expected a lot of the off-season stuff we talked about yesterday from camp to the pre-season to the work habits to the studying have far exceeded my expectations for a young guy he seems really mature he seems uh just grown up in how he acts and operates by the way i've been watching the documentary on prime oh i haven't i haven't had a chance to watch it is a good it's very good it's the l_s_u_ n_i_l_ documentary uh livy don you may have heard of her she is a gymnast and extremely talented you follow her right uh on instagram yeah i do not oh uh if i do it's only because my wife made me because she's a big fan of gymnastics um livy don jayden daniels um some other people at lsu jayden daniels is so likable like it's the best access we've gotten him behind the scenes essentially you know who i really like who came off very well and i've only watched a couple episodes his mom i really really like the whole bit is some of these people at lsu that are student athletes decided to like go for money as soon as they could and his mom essentially said we are focusing on football because you can make a couple million dollars on n_i_l_ being you know the poster child at lsu for that law firm if you go in the top five you're going to make thirty-some million dollars we're going to focus on being the best quarterback in college football make an investment raising but like his mom is sharp i really like her uh but regardless long story short i have been impressed by him and you know that part of it overall just him off the field i think it surpassed my expectations um what i've also liked is he does not really put the ball in harm's way that's a good thing and a bad thing a small part of me would actually like to see him throw an interception soon because i think it'll just let him know like oh nothing happens yeah like my kid finally doesn't strike yeah but my kids afraid to like ride his bike down the hill because he thinks if he falls over it's all over we all die dude you're gonna fall over you're gonna scrape your knee i'm gonna pick you up we're gonna be okay i don't care about a pick or two i need some big plays too i need some small window throws some aggressive percentage looks down the field so having said that though i liked it even in practice when i was out there the preseason there have not really been many turnover worthy throws that's a give-it-take-it-the-way thing you know i'd like to turn up the faders on that sum but i just think by and large we saw four picks last year with the combined 50 touchdowns he seems to be a guy that does not really turn the ball over a lot i think that is a healthy good thing so that's been impressive where i say overall has been about what i expected is as a passing offense through two games it hasn't been overly impressive i thought the second half of the Giants game as we've talked about a lot was much better uh he stood in the pocket he played quarterback distributed the football that all the things i want to see him do and i hope he builds on that the only thing i would say that's a little bit disappointing and that's too strong of a word but the only thing i would say that has been i've been a little surprised by negatively even though i thought he would run a lot his default setting to not like stay in the pocket and throw and to take off and run has been more extreme than i anticipated and that was a little bit of a concern for me as it was but i also know it's only been two weeks and it's probably too early to make a judgment on that but if you're asking me is there anything so far that you would have like graded as this that's been worse than that he is such a good accurate passer it is a part of his game he does not have to be Lamar to me like he does not have to lead the league in rushing at the quarterback position he can make all the throws part of the intrigue and jadon daniels is that he's an awesome thrower of the football i just like to see him prioritize and major in that a little more certainly than he did in tampa bay and certainly than he did in the first half against the giants but maybe you know speaking of my son falling off the bike maybe seeing what he saw in the second half that the offense opened up that no a brown got open that some things went his way maybe he'll go back to the well more often now moving forward that's certainly my hope yeah i mean and it's all you know it's it's all growth opportunities right there my my favorite um one of my favorite economists and it's very nerdy to have one but thomas soul has a great saying that i brought up a billion times which is there are no solutions only trade-offs so if you trade higher production you're probably going to then have some more negative plays with that that includes sacks that includes maybe hold on to the ball too long for a fumble that includes throwing it into a tight window which is traffic now the ball is tipped now it's an interception now you airmail somebody over the middle when there's a tight window and it sails to a defender for a pick even the greatest quarterbacks ever to live have to give up something right there's there's never one size fits all very rarely you get a season where it's all perfect where patent homes throws for five thousand yards fifty touchdowns and get sacked in the bottom four or five um you know percentage of of of quarterbacks to drop back that's very very rare for the most part even the great ones like you look at air rogers over the years when he's throwing again for forty eight hundred yards forty five touchdowns was one of the league leaders in sacks allowed that was the trade-off you had to give something to get something so you would like some of those danger zone faders to turn up and i think eventually you will you learn when to when to fire when to tuck it when to you know throw it away and it's never perfect you're always pursuing this ghost of a perfect quarterback play but i'm with you in the sense that the trend line is okay first sign of danger even not even danger even the potential that something might lead to danger he took off he ran absolutely one week two less so so now there's a balance right and everybody wants to say oh it's been two weeks i get it yeah we're talking about that's what we're asking about it the two games that he's played what do you think so far what i think so far is it's been pretty good it's been a lot better than kaleb daniel williams kaleb daniel's is that guy could be a amazing imagine it's been a ton better than kaleb williams has been a ton better than bode mix he doesn't look like a rookie very often that's all really good mostly everything is either what i expected or better uh and the that would be the one thing is and it's just my own proclivity like not everybody cares about that right i'm sure there's someone listening who doesn't mind if he runs for 171 and throws for 105 i happen to i think it's good for business your receivers are happier people in the locker room are happier if if you're majoring in passing the football and minoring in wanting to run it and we'll get there i believe that but we just we got eight quarters to evaluate so far eight hundred six three six one oh six seven is the number jate and daniel's has played two games things are going pretty well for him i would say if the season ended today and it doesn't uh he would be probably the offensive rookie of the year what's been better what's been worse what's been as advertised to this point we'll get your thoughts next on grant and danny you you you yeah i mean um at the end of day still football um it's still going out there having fun and playing the game but um i'll say probably one thing is you know you're going out there and and you know they got guys that get paid uh and we got guys that get paid so give my guys chance to go out there make plays um and you've seen that towards uh the second game uh it gets the Giants go out there and make plays so we can help win the game but you know the name of the game man you know we got to put up points we got to score touchdowns finishing the res zone um and that's something that we need to do that's jade and daniel's met with the media today welcome back to grant and danny on the fan we've both gone on record same he's been about what we expected question is better worse or the same as you expected through two games let's go to kevin and dc on gnd what's up kev hey guys what's going on i've got two points to make one i think he's playing great for one reason he's not trying to force the ball anywhere especially not forcing the ball to turn it only thing that scares me he needs to slide at instead of flipping i just don't think he's gonna slide i don't think he's got that club in the bag now that does not mean he's not going to avoid contact he will do his best to do that he does the the Lamar Jackson role the fall forward thing as we've seen though that could be you know somewhat scary but i think we have to prepare for him taking shots it's just going to happen inevitably it'll happen in the pocket when he gets driven into the ground at times happened in that alabama game a couple of years ago when he got concussed it's gonna happen out of the pocket i do agree he needs to prioritize his health as often as possible the bottom line is we're through two games that's all there's been is two games he took a helmet helmet shot from a safety coming downhill and he left the field after getting the wind knocked out of him trying to get a first down in the first half of the game taking a huge shot to the ribs yeah i mean i think it's just baked in hits are going to happen even if you don't run as part of the quarterback position the whole point here is to try to limit the devastating ones to limit that kill shot so to speak right i mean all it takes is that one moment where you cut back you're trying to get that extra yard or two or whatever it's you know it's again it's a trade-off they're going to be at one maybe one or two fewer big plays one fewer third down converted in week number five but you get more weeks in theory right you're limiting those really big shots where everybody's running full speed do you agree with me to some extent that it's just not going to be it's not going to be what i want your priority for him no i mean oh yeah i mean yes i agree with you yeah like on a one to ten scale of how much do you care about avoiding contact i'd like him to be at a six and i think he's kind of always going to be at a four or something like that you know what i mean i just it's not like i'm punting on it or don't care about it i just think it's inevitable there's going to be times where he's slow to get up and you just hope that when he gets banged up it's you know he's able to get right back into the game the only thing i hate is there's an independent person that can just pull him off the field at any point after one of these hits that's the part that worries me because he doesn't just get to say i'm fine he doesn't get to just keep playing if he wants to that's out of your control when they tell you to go over to that ten mics and Fairfax what's up mike hey what's up guys let me show us always hey just have a couple quick points if you guys can give me just a couple moments um i i agree with you uh grant regarding the rating i think he's he's much better than uh Caleb so far and both here's my issue that after a during the first game i was not thrilled with Kingsbury and the reason was especially when they got to the red zone he was calling plays as if jade were a two hundred and fifty pound football back i'm going what the hell is he doing you know yeah this ain't Kim Newton it's not Josh Allen man dude that was insane okay so second also um but the second game i was more pleased um jade and shung he's a rookie he doesn't know that this is all they knows it's one go i'm faster he is quick but what's got us what's really going to determine if he's really going to succeed in this in this game is when Kingsbury opens up the offense because right now he's just doing a lot of the short passes to the side etc he has he thought if he passes down field but not enough to really determine if he's can he read the field the way that the that the top quality the the guys that really succeed in the NFL read the field if he can do that and keep away from interceptions and not run as much he will be awesome i'm really excited but but guys guys look he's got to stop at the right look he's got to get hurt he is going to get well here's the problem with that mike thanks for the call he's not going to stop running and he shouldn't because he shouldn't have drafted him if he didn't want him to run that that is the superpower but if your point is he should avoid contact more i can agree with you there it's just it's a really tough needle to thread frankly no for a guy that's going to be running frequently and he's going to be and he should be frankly to avoid contact it's football it's going to happen he's just got to be smarter like the hit he took helmet to helmet in the first game was a bad one the hit he took on the ribs and everyone said oh he was getting the first down he showed up that was awesome i agree with it's the fourth quarter in the games on the line i'm not sure if i agree with you in the first quarter of a football game against the Giants instead of setting up a fourth in one and maybe having a punnet or whatever but luckily he just lost his win it sounds like he was on the sideline he was back in the game the horizontal passing game the league is trending that way we talked a lot about it yesterday if you want to go back and grab the pod the way defenses are covering this now in the secondary the cover two looks they're forcing underneath rows even by that metric though that's not a good enough way to say why they've been so horizontal 38 of their wide receiver targets have come behind the line of scrimmage the league averages 11 percent you're talking about they're they're turning up that dial basically 4x for them on wide receiver targets behind the line so that's going to have to change moving forward but they have not to their credit i think this is smart they haven't asked them to read much out that's a good thing with a young quarterback but you're also not going to really get great results in the passing game until you start asking them to do that let's go to Kevin and Arlington what's up kev hey guys thanks for taking my call i gotta admit i'm a little uh intrigued and surprised because again the jump from college i don't care if he did throw 40 kitties and four picks and you know with just so incredible but the leap is so great and what i've seen is first of all he starts his career against Todd Bowles and don't think for a minute Todd Bowles whenever he plays Washington he wants to make statement and he did that's a hell of a team and we're going to see it as they continue to move forward but but by the second half he was better and then in the second game by the second half he was better he seems to get better as the game goes on uh he's incredibly accurate he doesn't make foolish decisions that does not seem with the ball he may be foolish or just inexperienced in terms of knowing when to get down how to get down whatever but again second game the progress i saw was was really really intriguing and exciting but my my concern at this point other than obviously we're all concerned if he gets hurt and there's always that possibility but what's he not seeing at your point earlier grand about how open uh if you go back to the all 22 that McCaffy was and it seems to me because he's good at processing but it seems he's missing things i'm not sure why i don't know if we're going to get any answer made it just hey nobody's perfect he's just starting out but i'm not as worried about that yet kib just because of how young he is and you know we also don't know if the coaching point that week for the sake of argument is against this too high look right you're supposed to be looking over here now or if it's dude you got to see that we don't know it could be anything in between very true he made a good point though something i should have brought up the accuracy is way better than i mean it seemed like a strength of his in college frankly but he was also throwing to open receivers a lot in college malik neighbors was awesome brian thomas was awesome downfield his accuracy was pretty special statistically but just watching him even out in practice at camp it was pretty obvious like ball placement being accurate which is such a huge trait that is absolutely impressed me and far exceeded my expectations which is a big deal. Zach charlotte'sville listening on the odyssey app what's up hey boys thanks for taking my call um so through two games i think better than i have expected um through two games he gets lumped in with that graphic with kyla billions of bone x where they have zero touchdown six picks he he he you take jadon dale's out of that graphic it looks the same um i would expect him to have maybe some inner interceptions early on in the year now if you extrapolate this out throughout 17 games yeah it doesn't look great but three two games i think he's been better than expected and the caller before me said you know you got to think he went up against hot balls in week one um so i think better than expected um you know i think they're going to get teary involved i know that's a big talk point this week um so yeah that that's my thought better than expected and i think the best you have to come thanks buddy appreciate you no doubt about that um he's gonna hopefully just keep stacking pennies you know game by game week by week and we'll see where it gets us in the nation's capital ben standing asked him about waffle gate today at his press conference i'm going to tell you what he had to say preparing for Thursday night football in the kickoff of week three of the NFL season tonight and to help us get ready for the game Frank Schwab of Yahoo Sports joins us now Frank what have you made of the New York Jets the host tonight so far this season hey it's been it's just tough scheduling wise for them early on hey look you go on the road your first game with your quarterback who has played four snaps and you know 20 months or whatever it was and you have to play the San Francisco 49ers on the road on a Monday night like that's really tough you come back you play a road game the next week on short rest so yeah they didn't look great against the Titans but I kind of gave him a pass for that and now you come back you play a Thursday night game so I don't think we're even gonna find how much tonight I think they've looked fine I just I don't know I don't know a lot about the Jets right now I just they're not throwing it down field too much you wonder if that's Aaron Rogers you wonder if that's just what defenses are giving them you wonder if it's just gonna take a while for everything to click we just again they've just been such a weird scheduling spot all season long so far including tonight that I don't know if we really seen the Jets true talent level yet and what they're going to be Rogers is obviously rusty he's also old though yeah I mean how long is it going to take him to think to knock off the rust because I thought specifically against Tennessee even though the numbers were better like he missed a bunch of throws he'll be making in a month hopefully I would think so too and look we're not going to get the Aaron Rogers of of even three years ago who is you know still an MVP contention I was just I just can't I can't believe that Aaron Rogers at at age 40 coming off that injury is ever going to be that level again but can you be a good competent quarterback yeah I think so look I picked them to come out of the AFC this year and represent them in the Super Bowl because their defense was amazing and they have offensive talent they rebuilt their offensive line the only variable for them really was Aaron Rogers can he played a good level I didn't didn't need him to play to great level for the Jets to be a good football team just just be good be 12 to 15th best quarterback in the NFL and I still think you can get there like you said he is rusty he is working with a new set of teammates there's a whole different situation for him it's almost like his you know his first year there so I'm willing to give them a pass for for you know what has happened but as long as they keep winning like you can't these excuses run hollow when you lose a home game to the Patriots tonight if that happens you know like as long as you keep winning and you're two and one dealing with these issues that is a lot easier than you know one and two in the sky falling Frank I want to ask about the Patriots I wasn't a particularly good student which we're probably surprised none of our listeners and I remember the look my Spanish teacher in eighth grade gave me when I got a question right and like answered a question in a full Spanish sentence it was like out of nowhere that's kind of how I'm looking at the Patriots I thought it'd be them in Carolina vying for like among the worst teams ever assembled like they wouldn't be able to get out of the huddle without spiking themselves and to be a disaster they probably they very easily could be two and oh I've been really impressed give my expectations were so low yeah I think we need to give John Mayo a ton of credit I they're playing hard for him they're playing well they know what they are they're they're they're playing within themselves I mean they're not trying to ask your Kobe Brissette to drop back 35 times you know I mean they're they're really managing the game well a lot but look I thought they'd be awful like I literally I looked at was talking you know the couple weeks before the season started I was looking at their schedule saying you know O and 17 is not impossible here I don't think it's gonna happen but look at the schedule and tell me which wins you come up with they play really well against the Bengals huge upset and then last week they played well enough to win they just didn't I see how it got him at the end I think Seattle's gonna be a really good football team so yeah just a ton of credit to Gerard Mayo who I didn't know he was impossible to know what Mayo was gonna be as a head coach and he was taking over for perhaps the greatest coach of all time so I just thought that he would struggle a little bit you know early on as a rookie as a guy who's never been even as a coordinator but I think that the you know if you're the Patriots right now as we sit here today I can feel pretty good about elevating him to be your head coach and and where things are going with him and and we'll see I mean it's still early on it's like two games but I think he is you know so far to this point showing he could be a pretty good NFL head coach for this team Frank Schwab who sports with the Cyron G&D when do we see Drake May? I just don't know I thought it was going to be like a week or two you know like okay well it's not going to work what you call will be and they're going to have to make the move but I think the counter to that though like you're going to be played well but part of the reason they're not playing is because they were obviously worried about the situation around him well situation around it doesn't look that bad anymore does it like they're off of the line playing a lot better than I thought it would reminder Stevenson's running the ball so your excuses for not starting May are kind of not valid anymore so I do think we see him at some point this year but I do think it's going to be a while because I think Jacobi's playing well enough he did not play well in the preseason and so credit to him for really playing well when the regular season started but he he's playing well enough that they don't have to make that switch and I think in a perfect world the Patriots would like for May to sit as long as possible still get you know a little taste of the NFL by the end of the year. Frank Schwab on Grant and Danny I think picking a winner for a survivor pool this week is really really complicated and hard is there anybody that you really like in that regard? Cleveland I I really give it up on Cleveland being a good team and I have given up on the Giants being a good team so I think that one that one definitely stood out to me there's another one to Tampa I don't look I'm based in Colorado and this broke with offenses in nightmare right now it is just bad like they cannot move the ball they're not going to have a functional offense for a first half of the season I think bonyx will be fine eventually but you're asking the sixth quarterback drafted in his rookie class to start day one I that that was just tough no matter who your coach is so yeah but your survivor pools this year have been awful like I mean week one I all sense of that he loses and then last week pretty much everybody except the Chargers lost if you didn't have the Chargers you're done so yes it is hard to even just pick one winner and yeah about pick pick a straight one straight up winner this week it has been difficult that kind of speaks to how crazy and unpredictable this season has been so far yeah the biggest underdog in the league has won outright in week one and in week two by the way Washington right now is the biggest underdog in week three and we're going to football huh against Cincinnati so maybe that means the commanders will knock off the Bengals in prime time and Cincinnati will fall to 0 and 3 you mentioned bonyx I actually want to follow you down this rabbit hole on the rookie quarterbacks we're happy here because Daniels if you add in the running has clearly been the best of the three of the rookie cubies that are playing but Caleb Williams been dreadful bonyx has been really bad like what are your thoughts on trouble and paradise with those other two guys and and just how long it could take to get going yeah CJ Stroud screwed up things for everybody now everybody thinks that okay well Williams is going to be a four thousand hour passer on day one it doesn't work like that for most guys and CJ Stroud is just different he was just unbelievable as a rookie most rookie quarterback struggle and even CJ struggled early last season it took him two three weeks to get things going so I mean in Chicago's case I think that Caleb is just falling in a bad habit he had last year at USC the offensive line in front of him is not good in Chicago but you got to get rid of the ball like I mean the coaching staff has to drill into his head look three steps and out like we're not we're not trying to run around and do everything because that player might have made against the Washington state last year well there's gonna be three Texans defenders already try to heave it downfield the cold commitment and pick it off literally on a foul it's different so I think that they just have to get Caleb to not do so much I think he'll be great I don't have any worry about him whatsoever it's just tough early on as he gets adjusted bonyx I just again I think he's gonna be fine I never had a high ceiling for him I never thought he was gonna be fantastic I think he'll be a perfectly reasonable quarterback in a Sean Payton offense and he still could get there it's just really really hard for right now that team is not good Bronco's fans got really really excited and the end of August I've given them a hard time because I made the joke like you know it's hard for bonyx to play with a gold jacket that you know Bronco's fans fitted him for in August I mean it it just not happened it doesn't happen that way for many rookies even Jane Daniels he's been perfectly good like there's nothing wrong with him at all but for the first six seven quarters of the season they clearly said just get rid of the ball we don't want you throwing it downfield every so every pass he threw for really until the second half last week when he had to make plays was screen pass screen pass two yards three yards you know to minus one yards by the last scrimmage and so that just kind of speaks to how Washington wanted to protect him behind a bad offensive line I think he's playing out of his mind I don't think he's playing great I think he's been perfectly reasonable I think he's going to continue to grow I think I think the world of Daniel that he's going to be a heck of a player but it's hard to play quarterback in the NFL's or rookie and we're seeing that from pretty much everybody is there Jayden has kind of navigated it better than everybody else Frank Schwab yeah who sports with us on Grant and Danny of these surprise I put that in quotes two and O teams I mean the Chargers played two bad teams so they're two and L but I don't know how for real they're but that's kind of the question here of these sort of surprise two and O teams thinking the Chargers Minnesota and New Orleans who has the best season I think the answer most people would give us New Orleans but I might go Minnesota just because I have so much trust in our coaching staff aside from the guys in Kansas City I might be the best coaching staff in the NFL right now at least a short list I mean John Harbaugh's great and all that so I get it but Kevin O'Connell clearly is just kind of a quarterback whisperer at this point he's had San Darnell played a level we haven't seen him play out consistently in his tire NFL career and then Brian Flores all the you know a controversy around him and the Dolphins and the lawsuit and all that he kind of gets lost that that guy is is a really really really good defensive coach and and you're seeing at that San Francisco 49ers at seven points through three quarters last week that's because Minnesota's playing really well I think they can keep this up New Orleans I just I don't know I'm just having a hard time buying in but that the offense looks completely changed and different great I mean they've finally modernized the offense you know new coordinator Quinn Kubiak a lot of play action a lot of recent emotion pretty much every cheat code you could have in the NFL Quinn Kubiak said yeah I'm just gonna do that all the time they're like I think at first the NFL a precinct motion and in play action right now and you can see David Carr or Derek Carluks comfortable so I think they're gonna be fine I think but I don't think there's some 13 win team or anything like that and then the charges I'm just not buying yet I just yeah you beat the Raiders at home and you beat the Panthers or the 33rd best team in the NFL because I can't even rank up 132 at this point they're so bad like they are so what do I really take out of that and even this weekend play a Pittsburgh team that has one touchdown in two games they they could be easily be three you know and I'm gonna be sitting here saying I don't really think that much of the Chargers but wins are wins and it's great they're getting them. You mentioned Seattle earlier is a team that you thought could be for all one of the book click on that what does that look like because here's why I ask San Francisco if you play there you pretty much are on the injury report now in addition to Deebo Samuel and Chris McCaffrey we know now George Kittle popped up on the injury report so it's almost like you know San Francisco you know when they're healthy they're good well they're not healthy so now what does that mean for that division and how good is Seattle can they take advantage yeah I still think that division going away I still think that they're gonna be good enough to squeeze out wins while some of these guys get healthy but you know they did go one three without Deebo Samuel last year he is an integral part of what they do they have I'm not saying Christian McCaffrey I'm not saying Deebo is a better player than Christian McCaffrey I mean Christian's obviously great I am off of the player of the year and all that but I think Deebo is harder to replace just because he has such a unique skill set that they do struggle to replace him and they're gonna struggle in offense when he's not there Seattle is just kind of this work in progress that's winning games but I see anyway the way I look at I see the the progress that offense is really different with with Grub coming over from University of Washington and Geno Smith looks really comfortable and I just think that defense is gonna get better and better I'm part of the Mike McDaniel Mike Mcdonald herd I think he is the people who called him the Sean McVey defense I'm kind of buying in on that I think he might be I he's just a really really smart defensive coach and maybe a really good head coach for all we know they're 2-0 and I think they're just gonna keep getting better and better better there's a lot of health in that Seattle team I think that's the healthy you can make a plus maybe not necessarily with a division but be one of those like 10 win teams you really don't want to see in wild car weekend if you're the cowboys or eagles or whoever they end up growing Frank Schwab is with us here on Grant and Danny Yahoo Sports joining us the breakdown week three of the NFL season the last game we watched in prime time as we get ready for Thursday night football was that stunner where the Falcons knocked off the Eagles and nobody really saw it coming at the end what do you make of those two teams Philly super on easy first two weeks could easily be oh and two the Falcons had that dot against the Steelers and then stole one could also be oh and two they got the Chiefs this week but ran the ball really really well and cousin seemed to come to life a little bit what do you think about those two clubs yeah it's hard to say because I I'm not I don't like to change my opinion based on a really really small sample and we're really given a felt of a lot of credit for one drive I mean with a minute 30 left to go in the game or however long it was take one Barkley has a pass to be catches 95% of the time and if he catches that what are we saying about the Atlanta Falcons right now they're all in two with one one touch on in each of their first two games and but they had the drive and and maybe he can get some momentum off of that maybe he could get some confidence off that Kirk finally did look good and he looked comfortable and and I don't know though I'm not willing to buy fully in but I'll tell you this as far as that they go this week the Chiefs have a lot of issues the Chiefs are a team that could be oh and two look at how close their first two games were I mean I say likely barely out of bounds and then a crazy defensive pass and our parents called it a lot of people don't even think it was DPI on fourth and 16 they're that close to be in oh and two with my example check it out for a long time I'll even browns out for all the regular season it looks like that we got traps Kelsey's not doing anything like that that seems to look I think a little bit of trouble I get as far not trouble as far as I'm gonna make a playoffs but just can they play up to the Kensley Chiefs level I don't know that they can right now it's they got a lot of injuries a lot of stuff going on so that's Atlanta and then Philly yeah I don't know what to make of them again but Sigma partially catches that pass they're 2-0 and we're feeling pretty good about Philly right yeah yeah yeah you you struggle a little bit to beat the Packers but they're gonna be good you struggle a little bit to beat the Falcons but they're not terrible team either so I don't want to change completely a turn on Philly based on one drop pass pretty much but yeah all the issues they had in the secondary so kind of popped up when Kirk Cousins just sliced to them on that last rise so I'm a little skeptical of the Eagles but that again I I look at them going to New Orleans and say why can't they beat New Orleans well it this whole season has been weird so you know that the line moved for for people who bet that line moved six points from last week it was Philly was favored by three and a look ahead line and three point underdogs what happened like because they got Barkley dropped a pass yeah I don't know so I think Philly is going to be fine but they just might not not be that super bowl type of team that would they work two years ago are the Lions still maybe you know just to nip it at the hills of the 49ers in terms of best teams the NFC or are we reeling a little bit after week two I saw faith in them I mean they all gained the Buccaneers 460 something the 218 I think it was I might be a little bit wrong on my numbers there it was one of those games where the better team didn't win I'm sorry I'm sorry Tampa Bay like you got it you you won the game you came up the clutch interception you know golf in a fourth quarter and all that kind of stuff but from play to play the to try really I'll play them so I'm not freaking out too much about them I saw a lot of faith in them I think they're gonna be really good but now they go in a face in Arizona team who maybe that team is really good like I didn't have any faith in their defense being being good this season I thought Arizona was going to lose a bunch of 38 35 games but they throttled the Rams last week and you look back a week one the first half they they did a really good job against Buffalo so maybe that defense is better than I thought and that team is going to be a surprise playoff team in Arizona so I that of all the games this week I'm most interested and I think Detroit Arizona could be fascinating I think that could be a really really entertaining up-and-down game and we could you know it we might be coming out of that game saying wow Arizona legit Frank you are an award-winning prognosticator all right you don't want to pat yourself on the back so I will you've done some good things in the past picking games among your peers six and a half is the line tonight the Patriots are catching six and a half at the Jets what's your feel on that game a very very epic pick on the Jets because as the part the problem I and I talked about it before is a scheduling thing like you play again at Monday night week one against a physical Rams team on the road week two and then the NFL like ah that's fine you plant Thursday night like that is so unfair to them and it's so ridiculous but I just think about a better team I'm not buying it on the Patriots being good they played hard they played well hats off to them but I'm still a little skeptical and so I'll take the Jets minus six and a half although big under their big favorites on Thursday night is generally not my jam but I'll go with it tonight I love the tepid pick that is something I'm going to be using many times throughout the season Frank thank you buddy you don't have it just remember you don't have to take every single game on the board you can pass a few of them yeah that's a great point well we got to make our picks like this one's tepid also thanks Frank appreciate it guys that's pretty good there you go week three you have now sat down the table is set we are ready to feast as we get ready for a kickoff in three hours I hear on the fan next on G&D why is the line so big between Washington and Cincinnati does it feel right seven and a half point underdogs at the bangles the bangles are owing to and they lost in week one is the biggest favorites that week what have they done to earn that let's get into that next on the fan you you you you you four days out from monday night football commanders bangles welcome back grant and Danny on the fan now I don't think you and I see eye to eye on this who hey but I came in here today spitting some liquid hot magma a little venom on this I am and I'm not doing shtick I'm very surprised by this line we don't we don't care a whole lot about betting lines on this show I'm stunned that Washington is the biggest underdog in the NFL this weekend I don't really get that they're one in one I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like they could be two and oh they got waxed by the box I know their defense is no good and maybe that's what it is maybe the odds makers are going Joe burrows gonna go ham sandwich jamar chase is gonna get right but by the way the bangles they were better in game two but they have not really looked like themselves throwing the football sounds like t Higgins practice today maybe he's trending toward playing but it'll be the first time he played with Joe burrows since last football season because he did nothing all off season as he was holding out it's not like they're just going to hit the ground sprinting the total in the game is 47 so they think it's going to be you know wide open I would say like both teams are going to be able to make some plays but seven and a half points is the line if you look at some of the other games the panthers are only five and a half point dogs against the Raiders this week turning to Andy Dalton the bucks or two and oh the Broncos can't you know get together in the huddle to go get a first down it's like a scene out of the little giant there's six and a half point dogs I think Washington catching seven and a half is super sexy I don't know if they win I don't think they do in fact I'm quite sure that they probably won't but to if they lose by seven I win the bet I don't think this is a you know 30 to 13 kind of game the bangles were the biggest favorite in football two weeks ago by the same odds makers and lost the game outright and then they lost the game since and their reaction is let's make the bangles the biggest favorites in the league this week I think they're being overvalued here's how we got there I'm trying to I would have thought five and a half was the spread I that's somewhere I think it should be right so here's how we get there I'm going to do it's this is the thing that usually gets into trouble by the way when you start talking about this it used to have to do this with college football all the time before there's a bcs before there's a playoff you go well this team beat this team by this much and then that team beat that team and this team beat that team therefore team number one is better than team number five it's exhausting and stupid but we only have a couple weeks so here's how we got there Cincinnati yes week one they've done the Cincinnati week one thing I think the odds makers are throwing that out but not saying I agree but I think that's what's happening you just get to do that do I get to throw out commanders week one it'd be nice it'd be nice okay but I think they're I think they're not acknowledging that that how dreadful Cincinnati was in week number one million reasons why one they've got a history of it by the way that's not like it was seven weeks ago it's not last year 50 percent of their sample on the year and it was not even two weeks ago they have a pattern of starting terribly they have a pattern of then business picking up usually it's a little bit later than this but whatever number two is when their guys are right and healthy and have practiced a little bit they are much better than a team say like Washington which wasn't the case in week one but might be the case now and again this I think of how we got here I think they also go Kansas City's past defense is excellent and they struggled last week but that's a really good defense and they probably had a good or not I probably had a great chance to win that game on the road against maybe still the best team in the NFL so that's a Cincinnati perspective the Washington perspective here's what I see you guys the Giants are awful the Giants are so terrible that anybody doing anything positive against them should be taken not with one grain of salt but all the amount of salt that Harry throws over his shoulder at the bar where he hits sea bass with the salt shaker and he comes over and hawks in the burger all the salt Harry I took care of it I took care of it if that gentleman over there is sea bass this is basically sea bass said that yeah if uh to me this is basically saying washing the team Washington is is the one that showed up in week one that can't do anything that's a jane daniel scramble or bust and any decent defense any decent offense will have their way with them this will be a free-for-all a carnival ride since that he gets right washington is embarrassed on one and i football and the world goes on that's what this line is telling me they think i want to come back to this okay but i think there's a very good chance that neither of our producers knows anything about dumb and dumber so here's what i know Ryan doesn't well i know but the sneaky one is he's gonna sit there and pretend like he knows and he i bet he's never seen it so fire up some game show music please dares if you don't mind now ryan had never seen dumb and dumber supposedly watched it within the last year if i remember because he was talking about how oh it's terrible you guys don't know what humor is your era is so not another teen movie 11 is it the best so i'll start with dares what's your file on dumb and dumber you know it's funny when when he finished stuttering right now because when he finished you you looked at me and i just felt i felt it i knew you were about to do this if i can explain this to the folks listening on the radio i looked over at you not because he was saying anything about dumb and dumber because i wasn't reacting no no just naturally like oh that's you know like your neck you're literally in my sign line of sight and you know what dares did he his eyes beaded the other direction it was like oh and that's how i knew yeah guilty he is dodging this like he's a commander's defender that needs to make a tackle in the secondary guilty body language Michael Davis away so with that said have you seen dumb and dumber i think i have oh my that's the wrong answer i think i've seen it's always last name i don't know i have no idea okay ryan have you seen dumb and dumber of course of course of course i watch it because of you guys how many times just once it was dumb it's the point by nature yeah it just what is Lloyd's last name cushion berry lsu center yeah what is Lloyd in dumb and dumber's last name no idea danny christmas now the best part is Harry's last name gentlemen uh i'm gonna give you a hint stamper a famous athlete you're pandering that's actually a well done yeah it's a famous athlete at lsu over the last couple of years and he's in a ring of fame i believe uh harry don yes it is harry don oh you i realized you i would give a different hint i went with i was going work who's in the tent who's in the uh ring of fame harry don harry don hi harry don i just i just said who does you got there it needs to be acknowledged the owls that for two guys yeah who trade comedic movie excellent comedy funny zings not on air or anything but just all day long you and i are going back and forth with like 90s comedies no two people have ever appreciated the references less then the two people we work with all day every day yeah the ratio of appreciation to people is very bad for us it is a low number like if one day we should actually do this and i don't know if today's the day or not we should come up with iconic movie quotes great movie quotes from the 90s early 2000s that's a great summer activity and just see how much they can get i know we always say write that down for like some sort of future thing like we should create some sort of spreadsheets somewhere where that goes all star week of 2025 next july yeah when i i mean when it's just tumbleweed and what's the what's the best tapping for a nacho like when we're doing that let's do that we do that but but come on give us a call what's the best tapping for a nacho come on guys that was the week that you're out we did that actually and we did that we did four times in in two days sorry i missed that hmm uh yeah so my i could have used somebody to talk to me okay true love is hard to find sometimes you think you found true love and then you catch the early flight home from san diego and a couple of nude people jump out of your bathroom blindfolded like a magic show i'm not going to finish it what is the line uh what movie is that line from there's you can go uh increment try to make a point here frank you don't have to celebrate it and i've seen anchor man anchor man is a great movie for the record okay uh i'm just gonna guess like dumb and dumber ladies and gentlemen i rest my case back to what we were talking about that's your nestle saturday the washington commanders in the Cincinnati bangles daniel this is not about the commanders i'm not pretending like the commanders are really really good danny i'm not i saw tampa game like you did i know they just beat the giants and they had major flaws and if malik neighbors makes a catch or gram ganot doesn't pull as groin or any of the other stuff that happened didn't happen they probably are oh and two with a loss to one of the worst five teams in the league yes as a bingles that good should the bangles be favored by the biggest number of the week as a winless outfit that hasn't gotten right offensively and you're like well you know they're they're trending in the right direction remember how this exact same thing happened with their offense last year the bangles when they finally got their offense going like four five it was like five yeah it took a month for them to get going and i'm supposed to expect that t hagan's is just gonna be dropped in like it's a claw machine and he just immediately goes out and goes eight for one oh seven no chance now could jamar chase go absolutely bananas sure if you tell me right now he goes 15 targets 12 catches 171 or something i would go yeah probably but seven and a half man it it just seems like a lot to me there is a and listen this isn't gospel right we all know how we get here right they're trying to get people to bid or bid i'm sure to bet on both sides of bid they're trying to bid what's the item for bid for the football games whatever am i alone in saying i think this is a close game am i in i know i'm in the minority it sounds like but i think this is a one possession decided in the mid to late fourth quarter kind of game you disagree with that yes i mean most you think in other words it falls into the standard deviation of football games like not like Tampa where there where there was no chance late which is to say it shouldn't be the biggest line of the week right so this to me reeks of one thing not necessarily about Cincinnati it's about Washington it's about what this this is what it says to me whether it's right or not obviously time will tell me that they get these things wrong all the time um but what it says is anything positive you guys are seeing with Washington is completely fraudulent because i have had the Giants are that's how i read that whether you agree or not i think that's what they're saying you get nothing for having the best playmaker supposedly in the game i mean the conversation in town is Daniels is an equalizer right i mean we had our own the show earlier is doing updates and he was talking about like the gap between him and burrow not being huge not i'll disagree with that but i think his point is based on joe burrows health but i don't know man i just i think that while washington is not that good and since nanny is very good they're not playing like it right now this should be a four and a half or a five and a half point line and i'll put my mind where my mouth is not a lot of it very little of it how many units are going down this will be a one unit play of okay the unit's gotten smaller this year by the way we don't judge that though no we're not unit chambers we never unit chamber on the show we have never ever once unit chain it's your special unit i've lowered the unit we're going to go one unit play on the commander's plus seven and a half i just i think it's a tight game in fact i'm gonna look like a fool uh oh do not save this audio oh no when i say this dares i want you to let this go into the ether and never play it again i actually think there's a chance they beat the bangles can we get that played i really do i i think there is a chance that the commanders beat the bangles and sensey on monday night huh jaden makes a couple of plays with his feet runs around a little bit the nationally televised audience is talking about him as the rookie of the year on tuesday i could absolutely see that right remember that little voice in your head sometimes you know it's hearing that voice right now low grand is honestly i am grants got that voice i don't think they're good everyone's gonna oh you're over rating the commanders i'm not it's one game against the team that i think is flawed that it's not played well yet and i'm not ready to crown the bangles you guys want to crown them crown them i'm not ready to do that just yet i'm not playing the the chiefs who just beat them when they didn't even play well by the way this weekend i'm not playing a good team like the saints i'm not playing a great quarterback like derrick car that's a bit but i i'm not ready to crown that issue i was like wait what you're just staring at me like where's he going with it yeah i was like i thought i had a zing ready but i i do think the bangles are because of their off-season and everything going on in the turmoil and they got receivers that want to be paid that are mad it's not right that they're not passing the smell test and neither is the one grant she in look at you homer simpson over there look at you right in the ill the illie than the odyssey who's going with me that's what i want to know get you who's ready to lock yourself from close game into their winning there i i said i it would not surprise all do it but i think my prediction right now is 27 23 bangles but i don't if you're telling me they win or they lose 30 to 10 i think they win dude i don't think they get worked on monday night you do i do eight hundred six three six one oh six sevens the number grant and danny on the fan you you [ Pause ] So, I just confessed to Danny that I don't really understand why the commanders are underdogs to the extent that they are this weekend. I'm acknowledging that they're not that good. I just think the Bengals are being put on an underserved pedestal as an 0-2 outfit that has not really played that well. I've watched both of their games this week. I've seen them in their entirety in a pretty dreadful performance at home the only time they've been at home, by the way. Against a team, they were bigger favorites against and lost the game out, right? That was just a couple weeks ago. In this past week, they played pretty well, they could have beat the Chiefs, who didn't play particularly well, and they still lost that game. I don't see this as a Cincinnati destroying Washington situation, an embarrassing Monday night. They've got 30-plus, you've got 10 or fewer, kind of night. I think it's a one possession game, decided in the fourth quarter, and I would roll with Washington catching points. I want to know if anybody's with me. Jim's in Haymarket on Grant and Danny. What's up, Jim? Hey, how you doing, guys? Jim, well, bro. Excellent. Grant, I'm with you. I think, honestly, I think they're going to win 28-17. Whoa. I think they're going to work outside of the red zone. They have been moving the ball. I think they're going to get these things worked out, where they're not going to jump off sides, and I think they're going to move on it. And honestly, Cincinnati hasn't really impressed me at all this year at all. So I think that's it. And I think Daniel's is going to, I think he's going to shine this game. What about this? Thanks, Jim. Appreciate you. Danny, this is our first Jaden Daniels in primetime situation. Yes, it is. Anybody ever watch him in big games at LSU? He got worse, right? He didn't play his best football, right? He's struggling those games. Alabama, Florida, you know, the rivals and the SEC. Oh, wait. I'm being told in my ear, he always excelled and was monstrous and just thrived in those situations. We love Jaden Daniels, don't we? We think he's the real deal. Everyone's ready to throw him in the Hall of Fame before he throws his first touchdown, yeah? He can't go out and play a hell of a football game. I bet he can. This was Jaden Daniels today. I mean, it's special, obviously, to be able to play one this early, just coming off my first actual game, the first home opener now, first Monday night game. So it's going to be special, but at the end of the day, it's another game he's just playing later on in a week. Let's go to Braden in Silver Spring on G&D. What's up, Braden? What's up, guys? How you guys doing? Hey, buddy. Hey, so I'm going to go ahead and go against Grant here. I don't really see a way that we play it tight. I mean, you know, Jaden Daniels versus Joe Burrow, you know, two LSU Heisman Trophy winners. I love the storyline. I love how cool that could all be, but at the same time, you know, this is as big of a get right game as any further bangles. I feel like, you know, they just played the Chiefs really tight. Chiefs are Super Bowl contenders, winners every year. I feel like our floor is kind of like that giant or our ceiling, rather. At this point, it's kind of like that giant game where everything just kind of has to go right for us. And given, you know, Jaden might ball out a little bit, but like, look at what the Giants were able to not do and still be in that game. I think the bangles, you know, given its T Higgins plays, I mean, they're going to light us up, light our defense up. I just don't know how we keep it close. So here's where I get a little crazy, Danny. Okay. T Higgins playing might actually be better. And here's why again, zero timing, no work at all with burrow until this week, another mouth defeat. Like they have a couple of weeks of trying to figure this thing out with Jamar Chase and Mike Gasecki, who led them a tight end last week. Seven catches for 91 yards. But now if they incorporate T Higgins, now it's another guy who's basically going through a preseason game on the field. I actually think that could work to Washington's benefit. Maybe, maybe I'm insane because their secondary is horrendous and they can't cover Jamar Chase and they can't cover T Higgins. And so both of them on the field are two guys they can't cover and maybe that's worse. But I've just now for two straight years, seen the bangles start like this and it generally last year took about a month. We're halfway there. They played a lot better against Kansas City. No doubt. There was only one way to go because they played awful against New England. They were atrocious and there was all the drama that led up to it and it's still not all totally solved. This is their get right week. That's what they're talking about in Cincinnati. I'm just saying, whether they're right or not, that's the discussion. That's fair. I mean, their season is maybe not on the line, but you can't go 0 and 3. Right. They're 0 and 2 and they know that an 0 and 3 start would be devastating. So they are in a lot of ways playing for their year, which is scary. For sure. They can act a keke. What's good? What's up, guys? Hey, man. So turnovers and touchdowns. BTS. We haven't scored a lot of touchdowns yet. I'm not a big Vegas guy that seemed to know all about Vegas, but I would assume that that would drive partners to say the line is going to be shorter and because the commanders have the ability to score more points. And we haven't gotten a lot of turnover. The internal was theoretically people think lead to or expect the more turnovers you get going to lead to points, points that could lead potentially the touchdowns. We haven't done that either. So that's why I think the line is bigger. And I'll say this, add a little football in it. I was saying when you are the other day, that I feel like the formations are too tight. The reason I believe that is because teams are starting to figure out this X come down. And they're starting to attack it and attack it to the point where it puts us sometimes and down and bad down and distant. I think we could give our chances more opportunities to score if we actually spread our formations out and use our weapons in better situations, which if we had done that in the first two weeks, we might have a shorter line against the thing. You know what I want to see. Appreciate to call this, as always. So they've done so much of the horizontal sideways stuff behind the line, the wide receiver screens, the RPOs. I want to see them hit on one of those. It's just like a beautiful look where you've got two receivers, you know, out, let's just say, flying to the left or whatever. And whoever's in the slot or closer to the quarterback kind of drifts out backwards and toward the sideline for a bubble. And you set up to throw that screen so everybody bites and the other guy runs almost like a, maybe a, you could run a fade or a go ball if it's the outside receiver, whatever, down the sideline. But you see that when it's executed, it's one of the prettiest, prettiest plays in football. Like you fake the screen, they bite up, and then they get behind the defender. To his point, everyone's going to be sitting outside on these short passes sooner than later. And I would imagine this week. Again, I don't want to beat this stat into the ground, but wide receivers for Washington target almost 40% of the time behind the line of scrimmage, the league averages 11%. That's a trend. People can start to sit on that a little bit. So at some point, you've got to turn that into something that's surprising. You got to offer the counter to that. And maybe that happens this weekend. Speaking of how teams are covering offenses, there was a discussion today on ESPN that was pretty interesting about cover two, the idea of like the two deep safeties. And there are analysts that actually wanted outlawed, like we're getting rid of the shift in baseball so that it's easier to move the football. What do we think about that? We'll get to that next on the fan. This summer, get away in the Hyundai you've always wanted at the Hyundai Getaway Sales Event.
