We'll get you the headlines from around the NFL today in just a moment. And we will set the table for the Nats and the Marlins six, ten pregame six forty first pitch tonight. Right here on the fan. I've mentioned earlier, though, we needed to talk show a Tony top of the hour. So I'll throw this out there briefly. So Tony is leading the league and runs scored home runs. It's slugging percentage, OPS total bases and a bunch of other categories. He's going to win the MVP award this year, even though he didn't pitch. So think about this. He is one of the top ten or so starting pitchers in baseball and one of the top five hitters in baseball. He wins the every MVP award every year because he does both. Imagine though, whoever your favorite team is, for most of you, it's the Nats. They don't really have a true ace. But imagine at the peak of Max's powers on a year where Scherzer couldn't go out and pitch like an all star. And he was coming back from TJ. So he was rehabbing. He didn't pitch at all, but he just hit 50 home runs and stole 50 bases. That's what show Hayo Tony is doing this year. He joined the vaunted 40 40 club, of which there are a single digit amount of members. And he's now got 44 home runs and 46 stolen bases. He's the first and only player Danny in history to ever hit 44 homers and steal 44 more bases in the same season. He's got a real chance to go 50 50. He'd be the only guy in that club. Again, it's a one man club as it is the 44 club right now, but he's going to very likely steal over 50 bases and slightly less likely, but also very plausible is on pace for 50 home runs. In a year in which he's not pitching and he's rehabbing. The greatest baseball player in history, ladies and gentlemen, and you're seeing him right in front of your eyes, you're lucky enough like me and Danny are to be on this spin in rock, enjoying baseball at the same time as him. So we need to be very careful here because I know a lot of baseball fans, they clutch their pearls. They get very upset. He's not going to have the greatest career. He started, you know, probably a little bit too late and, and you know, who knows in terms of the career compiling numbers, may or may not even get to 500 homers. Here's what I'm telling you. I don't want to speak for you, but maybe this is what you're telling these folks as well. Nobody's ever done this. There's never been a person on the planet who at the peak of their powers, you can pick whenever they want, has been able to do what he's doing right now. This is the best anyone has ever played baseball in the history of this planet. And it's happening right now this minute as a 29 year old for the Dodgers. That is if he went to some band box, he didn't go to Colorado to put these numbers up. He's going to a division champ where frankly the ball doesn't carry so great a lot of times at night where you got to really hit it and sometimes it don't even stay hit. The numbers that he's putting up, as you mentioned, was taking a break from pitching a brief respite part of what makes him so unbelievably special. So he just decided I'll dominate that way. It is staggering. It is ridiculous. The game is hard. I promise you, it's hard. It's the hardest one we got and he makes it look like he's the big kid in the league. It's unbelievable. It's just to me, it's comical to think about the Mackenzie Gore can't help you pitching this year. So he's just going to hit in the middle of the lineup and go 50 50 it's just dumb. And you said this earlier, we were talking about this, not even for show purposes, but you and I were just kind of marveling at the numbers. And it's so true. The amount of guys who have ever had a 50 Homer season and a 50 steel season, not in the same year, but how many players in history? Anybody other than Barry Bonds have done, have done 50? I'm saying one year you hit 50. Yeah. Do it. Maybe probably maybe look that up and see if he's still 50. I would think early in his career, he did. But it might be two or three guys who have ever in different years done 50 home runs and 50 steals because it's so hard to be that fast and that powerful and he's doing it in the same year in a year in which he's got a rehabbed repaired UCL and is getting fixed up from Tommy John surgery. The answer is no. Hey, Red never did. So there you go. It's a career. How was 46? So bonds bonds, but never before has anyone done it in the same season and we're just we're lucky to be like I think a kunya could. If he was able to stay healthy once me last year, he was 40 70, which is pretty good. Yeah. He would have a chance for sure. Yeah, he could do it. He would have to. I don't know that he's going to ever hit 50. If he played 160, he'd have a chance to, but it's still hard. He comes and goes and ebbs and flows offensively. There's a lot of inconsistency where it's show Hey, it's just every day. Same guy, man. He's hitting the ball one 17 somewhere. Is he lifting it or not? What an unbelievable specimen. What a star. All right. NFL news, Trent Williams ended his hold out today, got a new $82.7 million deal with the San Francisco 49ers. If you look at his guaranteed money added to what he's made in his career, he is now expected to make $350 million in his career by the time it's all set and done, which he was the last guy or the last group with the massive rookie contracts, I believe, before that the draft wage scale changed. So that helped him number one. But then he became the best left tackle in the sport at a time where that was the second highest paid position as of several years ago and you get enough contracts. He's now playing. He's 36 years old. Yeah. The same age as me. We were essentially rookies together him in his first year and me on the beat out in Washington. 15 years later, he's still doing it. He's giving up one sack in his last 44 games. That's how you end up making $300 million in your NFL career as a left half. He's still listed as one of the top 20 players in the NFL and depends on your publication, ESPN. I think had him in the teens with their latest top 100. There's not a better left tackle. Yeah. So how many positions are more important than that to you? Not many. I mean, again, the guys defied it. I mean, the for all the seems to be some antics is not the right word because that's such a negative connotation. But there always seems to be something swirling around that dude. You can trust that he's out there working like he's down in Houston, the greater Houston area, sweating and doing everything he possibly can. And when he shows up on campus, he's going to play excellent football. That guy's amazing. Yeah, to that point, there's been some question about if he plays in week one or can he be himself in week one, this is kind of old hat for him. He'll be fine. Like, I'll do my thing. And when I show up, I'll dominate people. Don't worry about me. One of the most underrated players for a really, really long time has been Cameron Hayward of the Pittsburgh Steelers, their detackle. He got a new three year contract today. That's the type of dude who's just a lunch pail stealer for life. You never hear anyone talking about him. He's the most stealer. He's been great for so long, and it's one of the reasons why TJ Watt gets a lot of the credit deservedly with all the sacks and the pressures and the takeaways. But that defense has been outstanding for many, many years. He's been a pro bowler right in the middle of it. He got a new three year extension today, didn't hold out, didn't scream about it, didn't post a bunch of clips with different coaches he wanted to play for. He just kept showing up to work the stealer way and they gave him the money he wanted before the season started. I think he's been a link 13 years in Pittsburgh a few more years to keep going at it. What a star. What I mean, one of those guys that never, as you said, never gets heralded, never gets enough credit. He's done everything. I mean, he's had double digit sacks. I think three or four times in his career. He's been a space cedar. He's been, whatever the defense has asked him, just a stud. All right. Let's get you ready for Nat's baseball right now on Grant and Danny. As I said, six, 10 pregame in a six forty first pitch. Let's start with your Nationals lineups presented by the window man. Since 1989, the window man's been the educational window company. Get your free no pressure and no estimate at the window man dot com or their Fairfax showroom behind Patty Corbin and Redfield leading off Dylan Cruz batting second. Oh, they're 10. Yeah, I'm going to be about adding third year DH Andre Straparo batting fourth and left field. The James wood batting fifth and second base, Louis Garcia, batting sixth at first Joey Gallo, batting seventh shortstop seat check Abrams, betting eighth, Gabriel Ruiz, betting ninth, your grandma guy, our guy, Jacob Young, Nat's weather presented by Pepco storm seasons here. So no need to worry about that air conditioning air conditioning 70 degrees. Mm hmm. That is your weather report. We got a fantasy football draft with listeners tonight. We are fired up about coming out with us over at Highline R and R and Crystal City. We're headed that way now.
