I don't know which version of the commanders are going to show up Sunday at 425 p.m. Eastern time attempt. I don't, I hope I hope it is the anybody anywhere, any place version of the team. I hope it's that version I sure as hell do, but if it's not, if it's not, it'll be an interesting post game show with the DOC and myself, Rick, Doc Walker. It is, uh, it is something, man. We finally made it. I'm glad that we're here, but honestly now that we've actually gotten here, we got a game coming up Thursday between Philly and Green Bay, in my opinion, the two best teams in the NFC facing off on Friday out in Brazil, then Thursday, Ravens and chiefs, I may have said that backwards. So like, no, I, you know, what are some of them bringing it home last time? I saw a dance fight movie was West Side Story. Who? West Side Story. There is the remake of Romeo and Julia. You've never seen West Side Story. All right. Not familiar. Romeo and Juliet, like the Shakespeare play? Yes. And they remade it as the West Side Story, and it's about like 50 street gangs. Nah. They're like dancing around with like, you know, switch blades and stuff. It's kind of ridiculous. They're, they're dancing with Swiss blitz, switch blades in their hands. Yeah. I mean, they're like props. They're not real. You know, it's like Greece? Sure. Yeah. We'll see. It's like Greece. It's a musical. It's a musical play. So in that sense, yes. But okay. Obviously neither. You know how they make like contemporary versions of Shakespearean plays and stuff? The other reason I know anything about Shakespeare is because we had to read it in high school. There you go. And by the way, I know the kitties are out of school today. Aren't they? No kids get labor day off. Mine did. Yeah. So why does the school year start tomorrow? For my kids, it does. So yeah, it depends on your jurisdiction in your schools and all kinds of stuff. So I think Virginia has been in school for a couple of weeks. I think DC public school went back middle of last week. They should have sent DC back the first week August. I'm telling you, and I know a lot of you probably understand exactly what I mean when I say that. It is game week though, a full of Washington commanders as we get geared up for the regular season opener, man. The debut of Jaden Daniels, I loved if you got to watch any USCLSU last night, the highlight of the contest was our guy. Great game, by the way. Obviously I'm being facetious when I say Jaden Daniels was the highlight, but watching him parade along the sidelines yesterday hoisting at high has been trophy, rooting for his guys. It was awesome to see. It truly was. It was awesome to see. Now the hope is that he has those same emotions at about 7 30 PM Eastern time coming up Sunday because that would mean we won. That's all I care about. We'll give you the keys to victory for the Washington commanders coming up here in the three o'clock hour. Plus as I like to do each and every game week, I'll give you my key commanders as well. One of six, seven is the number, but before we do that, first weekend of the college football season was honestly to me, just a reminder that this year with the expanded 12 team playoff, it's going to be bonkers and honestly a 15 week fight. That's the best way I can describe it. It is going to be a 15 week fight because as you saw this past weekend, I don't think there's a clear cut dominant best team in the country. Some folks are going to say Georgia, they put the belt to the ass of the Clemson Tigers. So I know Georgia is going to be in that conversation. They were dominant, but let's just be real here. This weekend, to me, was about finding out, well, who's really going to be a factor? Come December and January, who's really going to be a factor during the college football playoff? Because see, with an expanded 12 team playoff, there is no way in hell. I think there's going to just be one clear cut dominant team, at least I hope it's not. I just, I hope not, Georgia look good, Ohio State played around in the first half with their opponent this week. Oregon struggled with Idaho. It's only the first weekend, but I'm looking like, oof, to me a 15 week knock them out, drag them out, bro, point blank, a couple of teams already are on my radar. Notre Dame, Miami, USC already on my radar is legit college football playoff contenders. They are, but don't sleep on your Penn States. You're Michigan. You can look damn good, even a dark horse, like Oklahoma State or Tennessee. This season's playoff race, for my money, probably going to be those unpredictable yet. Most casual fans are not prepared for this level of competition. They're just not. That's why a team like Florida State, who has to win tonight, by the way, if Florida State doesn't win tonight, one, I'd laugh my ass off to the seasons over, but they lost last week to Georgia Tech and they honestly can't afford any more losses on their resume. They can't, but what I love about this 12 team playoff is that to me, it provides more opportunity to have meaningful football in December. You aren't going to be out of it with an early season loss, more likely than not. No, it also was crazy about this college football weekend. We had some massive, massive performances. We had some eye popping numbers get put up by a couple of different skill guys out there throughout the country. I got to start with my guy T Mac, Tara Toa McMillan, wide receiver one for my money coming up in this draft out of Arizona, 10 catches, 304 yards, four touchdowns. He was un guardable. He was, he was, but I'll be real with you. If I'm Arizona, I come in the 21st ranked team in the country, that Tara Toa McMillan T Mac's stat line is the only thing I'm happy about after this weekend. It's a 40 day importance to New Mexico, Arizona, the hell are you doing? I could send to them a sleeper, a dark horse, potentially, because someone's going to get in that we have no clue that's going to get in right now. One of the local flavors here are Virginia Tech Hokies. I saw some college football playoffs with them making it. Not after they choked the way that they did this past weekend. Hiring drones in the strongest second half, not enough, but crazy performances around the country. Tara Toa McMillan, one of them, he was absolutely awesome. The running back from Boise State was absolutely ridiculous. The running back from Boise State and what he was able to do, I had to look this up because I honestly was not, what's the old meme? I'm not familiar with your game, Boise State hosted Georgia Southern and they're running back for boy, they're running back for Boise State. They put Oregon next week, by the way, and I mentioned Oregon didn't look too hot this weekend and their season opener against Idaho. They better be ready for Ash and Jinti. You kidding me? They better be ready for this young man. He runs angry. He runs like somebody pissed him the hell off. He runs like someone smacked him in his face before the game started. This stat line, when I read it to you get us out unbelievable 20 carries, 260, 70 yards, six touchdowns, Boise State as a team ran for 385 yards. They have his 10 point six yards of pop on the ground against Georgia Southern. That is how you come out and spent your week one opponent. That's how you do it. That's how you do it. I just, I just feel like this group in Boise State, I don't, I wouldn't, I wouldn't go out and pick them to beat Oregon next week, but coach landing squad at some point, I don't know if Boise's good enough. It's going to be on upside alert. They struggled to get past Idaho and I wonder. I wonder how this thing plays out. The weekend wraps up tonight with Florida State going up against Boston College. You're supposed to be one of the bottom feeders of the ACC so we'll see if FS you can, can handle their money or handle their business so to speak. The way last night finished though, instant classic between USC and LSU and Riley Moss was awesome. I thought both quarterbacks were really good. If you got the chance to watch last night, it was a, a quarterback master class. Two guys and two stories that I really respect seeing today's age of the transfer portal. What these cats do is they come in, they don't like what they are on the depth chart and they say, and mommy, daddy, fill out my papers. I'm leaving. I'll take my talents to another conference where I'll get kissed on the ass there. Not Miller Moss, right? Not Garrett Nussmeyer. I think I called Miller Moss Riley Moss all morning today. These two quarterbacks, both guys that had to sit and wait their turn, three plus years on the bench for both of them and the way they played last night, it was very clear that they were ready to seize their opportunity. They were Miller Moss big time on the final drive of the game. Chiron Hudson come up, came up with two big catches. That's, that's the type of stuff that you live for. But the story to me is USC and what they were able to do defensively, that defense looks night and day better. If Caleb Williams would have had this defense out at USC, maybe he would have some hardware other than the Heisman trophy didn't see a lot of breakdowns and coverage. Players are in the right spot. They look fundamentally better. It was a tackling master class. Some of these eight to 10 yard gains that you saw from Nussmeyer company would have been 20 to 50 yard gains last year because of the tackling. Baby steps is what USC is making. Kalaji Kancy, Vida Vaya, Pavante David, Yaya Diabi. They have really talented guys in the front seven. One of my keys for Washington is established to run, have balanced, no matter what. It cannot be negotiable. It is a non-negotiable in terms of running the football Sunday against Tampa. You cannot drop Jaden Daniels back 30 plus times Sunday against Tampa or he will be broken. I'm being very cutthroat and barbaric about it. If they drop him back 30 plus times on Sunday, he will not walk out of Raymond James standing in one piece. You won't. That is not the formula for this group, especially in the opener. You have revamped your offensive line. You have three new starters. Really, you can make the argument, maybe four new starters up front along your offensive line. This Tampa team is not the front to go try to be cute against, right? Everyone knows Cliff has an affinity for his five, five wide outs. He sets the spread package and leaving Jaden Daniels without any extra blockers. That can't be the game plan this week or else he will get swallowed. A couple of the keys to victory for Washington this weekend. They got to listen, we'll call it. They got to run the ball and have balance offensively. The big key that maybe kind of slept on here defensively, they have to force a takeaway. Baker may field the quarterback that has been prone to giving it up over the course of his career. If they give you opportunity to turn the football over, you got to make the play. Joe, what junior talked about this last time he was at the podium, turnovers are a huge part of this thing, but see, you can't always blame coaching on a team, not creating turnover. You got to catch the damn football when you're supposed to. And I think throughout the preseason, we saw several dropped interceptions from Washington. If they are going to have success in 2024, that cannot happen. You have to capitalize when the other team makes a mistake. If you stick it with me here, if you're three keys to victory for Washington, that have balance offensively. They must establish the run, whether it's successful or not. It's a non-negotiable. You must run the football. I don't care if you're, you're, you're held to 2.8 yards a pop in the first half. Who gives a damn? Run it. Run it. And run it again.
