It is the, you know, the stakes are, I would say relatively low, but the camaraderie is high. Dan Quinn and Adam Peters, coach and GM locked arm and arm today at the podium, talking with the media after cutting their roster down by nearly 40 players yesterday. I want to let you guys hear this and then we'll give you our thoughts on the other side on GND. Adam and I, we talked a lot about the weight of this week and it's nothing compared to honestly what a player feels, but we bring this up because it was also really cool to hear how many players so want to be here. And so that's like one of the cool things that you realize when you're going through this process and so you balance the hard week and then also how thrilling it is to see this puzzle start to come together. And that absolutely brings a new level of excitement for Adam and I and we both feel that. So it's a hard day yesterday and a cool day today to see all the work and the puzzle is starting to come together seamlessly with a lot of players and a lot of work that goes into that. So I really took my hat to Adam and his staff. They have absolutely, you know, dug in and it's been really cool to see. Yeah, I'll just add on to that. You said it, it's the hardest day of the year and first time doing it in this chair and it's even harder and but the good thing is, you know, these guys are all competitors and they all took it hard, but a lot of them wanted to be back here and we couldn't be more thrilled to have them and we're ready to go. We got our team and I think obviously there's going to be, you know, not the final 53. I know you guys hit on that. You know, it's the initial 53 and they're still going to be moves that we make, but we're thrilled with the guys we have here and can't wait to go to battle with them. So with that, go ahead and throw some questions at us. So another move just came out and John going to the stage. If you can discuss that but also Ridgeway. Really? What? Got to have a little fun. Stressful. Yes. But it's that move, but also did you anticipate maybe more moves with the waiver? Why are you guys talked a lot about that number two claim in the order? Did you anticipate maybe more than that? You were surprised that maybe there wasn't more off of that. Yeah, I think, you know, what what I think that's reflective of John is is more one, I want to thank our pro staff, our pro scouting staff. They scoured pre-season tape for hours and hours and hours and really got together and gave us a lot of really good candidates to bring in and to bring up and made tapes, had our coaches watch them and all that. But in the end, I think it really speaks to the guys we have in this building and looking through the waiver wire and and being really happy with the guys that we have. And we thought, you know, you compare them to the guys that you have and and the guys that are out there. And we thought, you know, the guys that we have in the building, we're really happy with. So at this point, we didn't make any waiver claims and we had the number two waiver claim. We still have the number two waiver claims. So and we'll have that for the first three weeks, at least and hopefully no longer than that. And we'll keep doing that until we we're always going to do what's best for the team and how to make our team better. So we didn't see that in this round, but it could be today, could be tomorrow, could be weeks from now. So with Ridgeway, I'm sorry, it was a question. Just to say why I guess one. Yeah, I think with a guy like John, he did a really good job and you guys saw how good he did on Sunday night too. And so with that, there's a lot of interest in them. And you look at your team and you look at who you have in the building and compare it to what teams are offering. And we thought it's a really good opportunity for him to go somewhere and play a little bit more than he probably would have played here and a scheme that probably fits them a little bit more. And so we were in constant contact with his agent and John to his credit, probably there's some things swirling around the last few days. He went out there and put some of his best tape out there and really battled for us out here all off season, all summer, all training camps. So we wish the best for him. And I know he's going to go and have a really good year in New Orleans. One thing I'm curious about, Drew, you guys, this is your first year here, but you guys have both been around, but I'm curious like what lessons you've learned along the way that maybe you can apply to building a roster at a new place like this? It's for both of us. I think there's a lot, John. And I think the first part is the team. There's one thing about collecting talent. There's another thing about developing the team. I think one of the things I admire about Adam is he has a fully strong grasp of that, of the team concept and finding the best pieces that fit together. And that's our job to help feature certain players what they can do, what roles we put them in. And so that, to me, is kind of the secret sauce of it and one that didn't take long to visit with Adam about that. He had the same strong feelings about something like that as well. Yeah, I think you said it. That was the first personnel manual I ever had, John, was the Patriots. And it says, "We're not collecting talent. We're building a team." And that's what we're trying to do here, too. And that rings true, you know, 20-something years later. And I think we're going to keep getting better at it. The more we're around each other, the more that our scouting staff knows what they're looking on the field, looking for on the field offensively and defensively. We're going to get better and better and better. And we're already on our way to that, probably faster than I thought we would be and really excited for what's to come in the future. Hey, Adam, sort of along those lines in terms of the roster building, you've been pretty disciplined from the start. You didn't sign. You signed a lot of guys and free agency, but not a lot of splacking contracts didn't make trades in the draft in terms of giving a pick. A lot of fans, of course, want those bigger moves or might even be a player on your former team they were interested in. What would you say to the people about that discipline versus trying to make those bigger moves, how do you kind of explain your philosophy now that we're all the way coming through this? Yeah, I think it really just goes back to one core philosophy is you always want to do what's best for the team. And that's for the short and long term. And so every decision we make is going to be with that in mind. And we're going to talk about it. And there's going to be a lot of different things that come across our desks. And we sit down, we talk about it, and we think this is the right move for us right now and for the future. And so each time, each individual decision is going to be the same thought process is this the best for our team. And that's going to drive our decision-making. And then for both of you, in terms of the roster, sort of along the same lines, Dan, you mentioned this the other day with the two undrafted free agents, how they sort of maybe epitomize the mindset that you guys are trying to accomplish. How much was that the ultimate goal to obviously want talent, but to build that mindset, build an identity even maybe above worried about talent in the moment? I think you're on the right track then that you better have an identity and know what you're going to be about and how you get down. Because if you don't, you'll just kind of hodgepodge it around. And so I think when you see us play, you've got a glimpse so far of some of speed of physicality of going to finish. And so those are some of the traits that that we admire about a lot of the players on this 70-man roster. And the more we do it, you know, the stronger it's going to get. But that is a really important piece of it. Dan, if you had a chance to talk with the initial 53 and just the fact that they are in that locker room together now, and if so, could you share what you said? Yeah, we had our, we had a team meeting today, you know, for the first time. And it's that connection together. I would say they've connected really strongly, Chick, which doesn't have always happened right away. But to see a lot of these guys as teammates, what they want to be about, the standard they've set for one another, I think that's one of the really coolest parts when you look back and you watch. And I felt that Sunday night Adam and I were both after the game just seeing the energy for the players, you know, after a score, after a big play, the sideline, you know, kind of going crazy for some people. That's the type of environment that, you know, Adam and I both really want to be a part of, like where we know we can work our ass off, but really enjoy it too. And so what I do see from this crew is a crew that does that. And so they're working really hard together to find their edges, but they're also enjoying it together. And so that's why what better complement than when you release somebody and they text you back later. Amen. I really want to be a part of this or that or when a player is claimed by another team and they're waiting around to visit just because they wanted to, you know, check in with Adam and make sure, you know, to show that gratitude and appreciation. That doesn't happen everywhere, Chick. And so to see that, I don't think there could be a better complement of the people that Adam has brought in that they stand for the right stuff. And Adam, you mentioned this is the first time to be in that chair. You've been through the process, but now you're in that chair, having those conversations, one on one with these players, was it different? Did you learn something? Was anything surprised about being the guy who's deciding the fate of guys? Yeah, it hits harder. It hits harder. And I would look back and I'd always look at John Lynch and say, you know, why is he so has so much turmoil and if he's not sleeping one night, like you're fine. And then you're sitting in that chair, you realize the totality and the weight of it. And, you know, it wears on you and they're hard. And they're hard, you know, these are guys that you see out here every day and they're working their tails off and they're going for it. And so when you're having those conversations, you understand like how much it means to them and how much it means to you. And, you know, you want to keep every one of them because they're all, you know, they're all worthy of being there, but you can only keep 53 in another 17. So I now understand how hard that is and how much it weighs on it. And it's tough. Yeah. Obviously, they weren't your guys draft picks, but five or seven draft picks from last year were released. How do you kind of balance guys who are on, you know, cheap team control versus upside and talent? Yeah, I think, you know, in regards to the draft picks from last year, I think DQ hit it on the other day, Mitch, you know, these guys were all commanders and they're all ours, you know, so and we're thrilled to bring a bunch of them back on the practice one. And, you know, it goes, there are a lot of them are going to be playing for us this year. And so, and a lot of those guys embody what we're looking for. We just had in our eyes, some other guys ahead of them. But that doesn't mean that, you know, they're not going to keep getting better and become really good commanders for us. But you're always, you know, we're trying to win and goes back to his initial press conference. We're recalibrating. So we're not, you know, we're trying to build for the long term and win championships. You know, year in and year out, but we're also trying to win right now. Do you guys anticipate making any major moves now before the season? Define major. [Laughter] Through easy. I'm trying to think of something funny to say, but I can't. But it's kind of, it's going to give you the same answer here Sam. We're always going to do what we think is best for the team. So if a major move comes across and we look at each other and we talk through it with each other and we think that's best for us for a short and long term, we're going to consider it and we're going to make the move as best for the team. So we're, we're not averse to any of that, but we're not just going to go make a big splash move just, just to make a splash move. How do you feel about the supporting cast you've given Jaden specifically in the receiver room? Yeah, we really like those guys Sam and, and, and that's why we felt we were comfortable with making the moves we made. And the guys that we have now are getting better and better each week. And not just the receiver room, but then you have two, really three running backs, and catch the ball out of the backfield. And one who's a specialist at it. And Brian Robinson, I think is underrated at that. And then Jeremy McNichols is a jack of all trades. And then you got the tight end room where we got four really good tight ends on the roster and another fifth one on the practice squad that can all catch the ball. So that group of eligible receivers we think is really good and, and have gelled really well with, with Jaden. Two significant contributors to the team in the last week traded away for basically pick swaps coming back. Was there any consideration trying to get players back or, or was that always kind of long term versus short term considerations? Yeah, I think you look at all the options when you do that and you have conversations back and forth about what, what you're getting for compensation. And so oftentimes the, you know, I think, you know, certainly Ridgeway was a pick swap. I disagree with you a little bit with Jahan on, on a pick swap, but we got, we got some good value for Jahan or picks instead of a player. Yeah, picks. Yeah. But yeah, you look for in it, if it's a players that help your team, then you definitely consider that in our estimation, the trade that we made was the best value for us. And if there was players that we thought could help us in the short long term, we would have considered that too. But in, in the end, we thought this was the best deal. And then the long term mindset makes a ton of sense. You both talked about true north and recalibration, but does that get more difficult as you get closer to the season and it's like, hey, Tampa's in 10 days. Does it change or do you have to put blinders on kind of? I think it's a lot harder to, to get good players at this point in the season than it is in March and, and, and really in April, those are the times that you can really get a lot of good players. And there's just not as many out there right now. They're all on teams for the most part. So you kind of, you can tweak your roster a little bit at this point for the most part unless you have a big opportunity somewhere. But, you know, we're really happy with the guys that we have out there and, and we're pumped to, to go see them and, and they're going to go out there. And, and I think really compete their ass off and, and, and play off and, and I guess, you know, that's a long-winded answer just to say we're happy with the guys we have. And like we love to develop on the players too. So where we are, you know, here on August 28th, you know, players are going to also grow and improve with it. And so like every good team does that. You're playing your best towards the end. And like that's part of developing and growing and, you know, that that's a cool thing. Adam, I like some of your predecessors. You're coming into a whole new situation with no kind of institutional knowledge of kind of what happened here, but having seen sort of players around the league. How did that fresh perspective kind of help build this roster for you from time you started until now and kind of having a fresh and no, no preconceived notions about the people who are here? Yeah, it's great to come in and, and it's also good. It's good for me to have a fresh set of eyes, but it's good for the players that were here to have, you know, us having a fresh set of eyes on them and allowing, you know, evaluate them for what we see. And so I think along with the guys that we brought in, you know, I can't, you know, be more complimentary of the guys that were already here in the way they bought into what DQ was doing. And and really having just a kind of a renewed sense of what they're doing. And, and I could go on and on, but the, you know, the big names, you get Jonathan Allen, you got John Payne, you got Brian Robinson, Sam Cosme, Terry MacLaurin, all those guys bought right into what DQ was doing. So that was really cool to see, because they, you know, that they didn't know us from anything either, just like we didn't really know them from anything and they bought right in. And that was cool to see. So we're really, really proud of that, really happy and thankful to them for that. And, and Dan, same thing. Well, how cool is it as a coach to almost get a chance to help along with Adam kind of mold a roster in terms of the players you see the scheme fits for? Yeah, there's a lot of excitement as hard as the last couple days are. There's also a sense of like excitement to see this puzzle come together and clear it and go. And so when you have that, you can feel why we are so excited for this group. And that's about to go out to practice. There are a group of guys are absolutely going to go for it. And that's what we're looking for. So it's cool to see this puzzle come to life and see how it all fits together and the pieces fit together. And so like that's it's a really cool experience. And you can feel our excitement for it because we know what they can do. How do the two of you approach that practice squad construction? Are you guys looking at it? Like, all right, we want to bring in three running backs, two wide receivers. Are you just looking for the best 17 players that you can add to the roster? Yeah, I think philosophically on practice squad and really just kind of anywhere you're you're looking for a really good mix of guys that come in and play for you. And that's what's one of the coolest things that one of the only good things about COVID is that we're allowed to get a bigger practice squad because of the things that were happening then. And so that allows you to get six veteran players if you want on your practice squad. And then you can fill in the rest with with younger guys. But so you have a mix of guys that come in and sub in if you have a few injuries for a week or two. And then you have other guys that you can continue to develop. And like DQ says, even the veterans are still developing at that time. So you want to get guys that can help you right away, but and then have another group of guys that can keep developing. So that's what we would look for. But you're always looking to get, you know, the best 17 that you possibly can. So you all have mentioned recalibrating as well as when now. So what does that look like from a season perspective? Do you look at the season of like, Hey, we're definitely trying to make the playoffs. Let's try to get at least 10 wins. It's seven. What does it look like? You know, just for you all's perspective right now in current state, what does that look like for you? Yeah, I think I can answer that one first and I'll kick it over to Adam. The win now is not way down the line. You know, it's not this, you know, the end of the season and I get that's what a lot of people want to do. But I think we'll miss everything if we do that and look to what's down the line as opposed to like, how do we just go and keep attacking and keep getting better? It's our division, you know, all of that. And so if we do what we're capable of doing and play the way that we want to play, we'll be really proud of those results. But to say where it's going to be so far down the line, not interested in that, just want to see how good we can get and then do it again and do it again. And if we do those over and over, there'll be some really cool things that'll come from that. Yeah, that's that's my answer too. That was really just getting better every day and then the rest will take care of itself. That's Adam Peters with Dan Quinn meeting with the media today, a trade by the commanders. They sent John Ridgeway to the New Orleans, St. Jared Peters response to working that deal. What did we make of the return for Ridgeway and some news on a popular offensive lineman in town was hoping to get back on the practice field tomorrow. We'll have that for you next on GND. He went out there and put some of his best tape out there and and really really battled for us out here all offseason, all summer, all training camps so we wish the best for him and and I know he's going to go and have a really good year in New Orleans. Adam Peters meeting with the media earlier this afternoon discussing John Ridgeway who the commanders traded today to the New Orleans Saints with a seventh round pick for a sixth round pick and a late round pick swap. Ridgeway's 25 years old will be 25 all football season long. He played in 32 games here in Washington in the last couple seasons even started six games at defensive tackle. He's played a bunch. I don't think we talked enough earlier, Danny, though, about what a good, smart, normal football move trading John Ridgeway for a draft pick was. I want to go back to that trait because I think we might have even brushed past it too quickly today because you kind of file it into the drawer of and it's a minor move. It's a late round pick. It's a guy that's a wacky roster, whatever. This is not the way they've done things for a long time. They haven't been able to trade dudes they were about to cut for draft picks very often, but this is what good GMs do. There's nothing like draft capital, man. John Ridgeway and I mean this respectfully to him. Okay, this is not meant to be disrespectful. He is a replacement level guy. He is a jag of sorts who they got off the waiver wire and they got some good football out of. I actually happened to like the player. He's big. He's pretty physical. He's strong. He can help stop the run a little bit, but he is at best. That is very best on a 72 and sunny day when everyone's healthy at D tackle, the fourth best defensive tackle in this organization. Behind Allen Payne and Johnny Newton, who they just drafted just outside of the first round. To take a guy like that. Who there are plenty of. Fidarian Mathis is comparable. They obviously thought was a little better. Former second round pick out of Alabama. There's Ridgeway's on a lot of rosters and to be able to get New Orleans to give up a six for him. A Saints team, by the way, that might not be good. We had Mike Jones of the athletic on in the beltway blitz. And you asked him today at four, which teams could pick in the top five and who's going to stink in the Saints and the coach with the highest odds to get fired first this year is the head coach in New Orleans, Dennis Allen. It's very possible that could be the seventh pick in the sixth round or something like that, not to mention a pick swap where in, they said late rounds, maybe it's fifth, maybe it's seventh, probably, I don't know, but you can flip picks if you get to move up the board with New Orleans. That's good value for a guy that you could have cut and no one would have thought about it. It would have just been one of 30 some names that came out yesterday and everyone would have moved on. This is good. Business. This is the type of stuff that winning, well-run, sharp front office led organizations do. And I cannot stress that enough. Agreed. Yeah. It's a blow the radar movie won't think about it once games start next week, but it's, it's that kind of sharp behavior where you're on all the time. I mean, it's what made so many of the deals Mike Rizzo has made over the year so special, right? You get a guy off the waiver wire, you get a guy off the scrap heap and you turn him into a productive player and then spin that player for profit. They got, they got everything. They got years of good play out of John Ridgeway, right? And now that wasn't all this for seems doing by the way. I mean, they didn't acquire John Ridgeway, but he, he, you find him, he plays for you, does well enough, I suppose, to be a commodity that someone else wants. And he became expendable because of the nature of that room with this one and the guy that you drafted in the second round to layer some talent. So when that's the case, when someone's not part of your plans for the long term, you don't do the thing that Washington did for so many years under Dan and Bruce. Nobody. And I mean, nobody would hold on to guys more and then be sort of stunned that this is all they could get when they're dealing somebody out of spite, right? Like the, the, the, the, this isn't a right home and tell your parents you've seen the greatest trade of all time. Nobody's saying that. A, a six rounder and a pick swap is not, is not, you know, the, the over the top difference maker, but it's just a good procedure. It's just, as you said, it's good football, acumen. It's playing not only for this year, but having the plan for next year and beyond, it's sharp. I like it. I don't understand why the Saints would have traded a six and a pick swap for him. And I'm not pretending like that's some amazing asset that they packaged for Ridgeway. In fact, it's quite literally not. We know that, but look at their detackle room. I just pulled up their depth chart. I don't understand why there was a huge urgency for Ridgeway. Maybe he ends up being in the rotation top three, four guys. I'd imagine he will be, but they have Kaelin Saunders, Nathan Shepherd. They just drafted a sixth round rookie named Christian Boyd who made the team. Brian Brussy, who, uh, remember the first round pick a few years ago, last year, two years ago, uh, last year, okay, first rounders, one of four guys is listed as a backup on their depth chart. They have on their 53 right now, six D tackles of which Ridgeway is one. So I don't know, unless somebody got hurt or there's something I don't know about. That's just weird to me. You don't see teams trade for guys that might get cut very often, but they really wanted John Ridgeway. Yeah, I, or I guess it was we would have put in a waiver claim and now we know that we wouldn't have gotten him because someone else wanted him. But my point is it's not like a conditional seventh. You know, it's not a seventh round pick in 26 or something. It's a sixth round pick this year and a pick swap. Like that's a priority that you get that guy. Yeah, you wanted him. I think, yeah, I think they probably decided they had need for that specific seal set, right? The rough and tumble sort of, um, uh, you know, run stuff in type dude just to, to deal with whatever maybe is in their division or something like that. Again, I don't quite understand it to be honest with you, but you know, God bless what we'll take the picks. I've got two Ridgeway memories that stand out to me. That's about it. But I do have two and I'll thank him for his services in the nation's capital. The first was a viral picture of him showing up to work. It was like a slow motion Baywatch type video of him in overalls walking through the parking lot at commander's facility. No undershirt. I don't know why he was dressed like that or when it was, what the deal was, but it was just a great video. It's like slow motion of Ridgeway in overalls with his chest hanging out, just walking up to the facility was hilarious. That's my main memory of him. Okay. The second one is when he body slammed a dude from the Houston said, that's my memory is the, is the power bomb or the, the, I don't know what that called it, the DDT, a stone cutter. I don't know what it was. I think the street profits have done that to a guy. They have him together. Both of them together. Mm hmm. I remember where I was when John Ridgeway did that. Where were you? New Orleans at Manning's restaurant. Peyton and Archie. Why were you there? Because Washington was in, what are they, who are they planned? Was that a Houston game? It was the Texans. I'm thinking it was when my wife and I went to the LSU game to go see Jaden Daniels a couple of years ago. It was all you, Johnny come lately is like Jaden Daniels. Now I went to Baton Rouge and saw him in the first of his two years at LSU. Okay. Before he was a Heisman trophy winner. Okay. Before it was cool. All you geese now flocking to tell me that Jaden Daniels is the man. Mm hmm. I went to Baton Rouge because I love Jaden Daniels first. We don't so weird about that. Forget that. Is this is now, well, how many years ago was that? So that was two years ago, two years ago, three, four years ago. It's not a competition. Yeah. But I was in North Carolina and I went to a high school game. Really? And I saw, yeah, I saw a direct man playing high school. I'm just saying like, I'm not competing with you. I'm just, I'm just telling you that something that happened. Is that interesting? No way. Yeah. Wow. It is a North Carolina high school, which there's no need to ask me what the name of it was. What was the name of it? It was a high school in North Carolina. Oh, it was Friday night. I saw Jaden Daniels at San Bernardino high school. Did you really? Yeah. That's so fun. I saw Jaden Daniels at Piwi football. I actually, it's so funny. I know Jaden Daniels is parents. No, I helped. I helped. I introduced them. No way. Yeah. Wow. So like they're like, we're expecting him. Like he's going to be great. I know it, you know, so like I was there from the beginning. I was there. I helped deliver Jaden Daniels dead. Did you really? Yes. That's amazing. I was in the hospital. You weren't. They needed to help. I was just in the hole. I don't think the timing works there. And I, they were like, someone need to come into the room. And then I just, I just, I put on scrubs and I ran in and it was just me. I can't top that. Okay. Because that's like time machine type stuff. I win then. Yeah. You were there first. But yeah, John Ridgeway. He bodyslammed a guy once. That was the day I tried Ben Yays for the first time. And, and yes, because I didn't think I like Ben Yays. I thought it was like some weird French thing. And what it was was basically like a fried Oreo or like a donut. Yeah, it's a fried donut with powdered sugar on it. It was the greatest. If only someone had told you. I was eating Ben Yays while John Ridgeway bodyslammed a guy. Because you know, I have that thing where I can remember where I am. Yeah, when I'm watching. Remember where you are. I remember where you were. Exactly. I remember where I was. I was eating Ben Yays at manning's in New Orleans, waiting to go to the airport watching. That was a Texans team led by the long neck guy. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Come on. Oh, long neck to go. Don't tell me it. Don't tell me it. Dares long neck guy. Gala Glenn, not Mike Glenn, another long neck guy. Davis Mills Davis Mills BAM Davis Mills. I think that was a gross game with memory serves. Oh, it was bad. Is that a big dumb game? Was that after our trip to New Orleans when I gained 17 pounds? Oh, it was way after just a couple years ago. Yeah. Why? And we were there. And part of the reason I gained all the weight was the Ben Yays first. Like I would have a Ben Yay pre breakfast before we went to Brennan's to have breakfast. Like that's that's how you put on that kind of weight. You commit to it and you wouldn't come at Ben Yays with me. I remember that. You're like, nah, I can do that guy. I didn't. I didn't know what they were yet. It's just a word I'd never heard of that sounded bad. There was a place a hundred yards from the front door of the omnivore we stayed just off of Burbon that has phenomenal Ben Yays. It's right. It was right there. You could smell him when you walk when we got from the morning. It's a delicious street. I know. Grant and Danny on the fan. The practice squad has been determined. Let's get into who is back and who left flight out of the nest and will play elsewhere this year that we wanted back. Also, the Cowboys made a big splash move in their backfield. Is it going to matter? And Montes sweats chirping a bit about his days with the commanders all coming up on Grant and Danny. [silence] Nats play tonight. Yankees in DC to take on the national 645 first pitch rubber match series on the line between the two this evening, best of three. We'll get you to pregame at 615 with Charlie and Dave. We'll get you ready for Nats baseball with our own little preview coming up in just a few minutes. Top of the hour on Grant and Danny. NFL headline. John Lynch met with reporters just a few minutes ago. He said that he expects holding wide receiver brand that I yuke to be on the practice field this afternoon. Remember three hour difference so they haven't practiced yet out on the West Coast. He was asked what happens if Brandon I you doesn't show up and practice today. And he said we'll deal with that. So he's saying they think he's going to be on the field he's supposed to. I'm going to bet that he's not there. Kyle Shanahan would ask something similar said quote, I hope so and quote so seems all seems resolved. Everything's fine. If they just close their eyes long enough, maybe it'll go away. He doesn't have a whole lot of leverage. I guess he could sit out a handful of weeks if you really, really wanted to. But eventually you got to show up to accrue the season. So at some point he's going to walk through that door. I just don't think he's going to on a Super Bowl caliber team with a chance to go have a monster year in that offense. You're not going to cost yourself money next year by lowering your numbers and really being the malcontent who didn't show for the season to start. It's one thing if you don't want to go to camp, you don't want to play in the preseason, whatever. As of today and certainly Monday, it's a different ball game. I think that's it because no matter how principled you feel like you might be, like you've been wrong. Let's say for the sake of argument that you're furious and you'll never let it go. You're still not doing, you're not getting what you want by, you know, standing fast and living on belling it. You know what I mean? It's just not going to happen for you. So it doesn't mean that you don't earn yourself more without playing good football. The path to get out of there is to dominate there. The Cowboys signed Dalvin Cook. We've poked fun at that running back room a lot. And it got younger. Actually, that's a good thank you. I actually love this move for Dalvin Cook because there's not another place in the league where you could sign right now and possibly end up being the lead back at some point in the first half of the season. He's 29. So that's funny. We joke about the age, but he was an 1100 yard back four straight seasons from 19 through 22 in Minnesota. Went for 1100 1500 1100 1100. They pretty much saw the writing on the wall in that final season of 2022 that maybe he was not as good as some of his numbers. He had a career low 4.4 yards per carry. So he fell out of favor. They moved on from him. Last year is with the Jets. He was bad there. And then the Ravens. He never got to play there. Two teams averaged a total of 3.2 yards per carry, worst, it's been on 67 attempts and then couldn't get a gig this off season. He's also had some off field trouble turmoil, some issues he's dealt with as well. But four time pro bowler going to Dallas, I do think he's going to play for them because that's a bad running back situation. Yeah, there's there's no, listen, if this is five years ago, it's the greatest running back situation ever assembled. It's it's clearly not five years ago, though. They're going to have to do something down there, whether it's rotate guys to keep these guys with a lot of mileage fresh and cook and Elliott. And yeah, I'm really sure what the plan is. Speaking of him being signed to the active roster for the Cowboys, it sounds like Washington is going to get a boost with a player returning as well. Now, this is not someone from outside the organization. Brandon Coleman just told reporters this afternoon. He should be full go. No restrictions that the injuries behind him and that the rookie left tackle is going to be on the practice field tomorrow. That's a major deal. That's this is one of the tipping point picks that makes this off season really, really good or a question mark. This is one of those things where Brandon Coleman is a starter and is able to go and plays at the level that they think is, remember, a lot of the teams are doing their evals had him as a guard. Washington did not. They didn't go out and get in a week free agency class and sign anybody. This was their solution at tackle to move on from a guy that had played for a while in terms of Leno who hasn't caught anywhere else or to have a swing tackle and Lucas start for a short amount of time. They think they got something to Coleman. If they do, we're going to view this whole thing differently before we get to the practice squad that Washington put together and before we talk about Monte sweat taking some shots at his former team here in DC, which we teased and we will get to before we get out of here. Jeremy Fowler VSPN is reporting according to his sources that Noah Brown, the wide receiver released by the Houston Texans yesterday, is signing with the commanders. That is receiver that we were all asking for. Noah Brown has been very solid when he's played the last couple of years.
