Instead of looking at the world around us, try and think about what's happening in the spiritual realm. It's time we see into the unseen. God has so many good things going on. Now, here's Joyce with today's teaching. I've been stopping several times a day and just thinking, "Man, there's angels with me everywhere I go." And as I said last night, there's not those little fat baby cherubim with the little fluffy wings on their back. I mean, the pictures that people come up with that represent the things of God, probably the first angel we saw we'd fall flat on our face and reverential fears. She wouldn't be an old chubby baby floating around with wings. Our God is an awesome God. But I want to talk to you today. I mean, I've been talking to you for half an hour already, but I want to zero in on what is the key. There's keys, but there's one main key, and that is simply this faith that we see in Peter when he said, "You are the Christ, the son of the living God." And I don't know about you, but sometimes I just need a good talking to about staying in faith. Because you know what? Faith is easy till the devil gets after you with doubt and unbelief. And a lot of that doubt and unbelief comes by paying too much attention to what we see and feel. And not enough attention to the kingdom that we can't see. And believe in what God says about what's going on in that atmosphere more than we believe, even what we see, right here. Our state Missouri is called the Shelby State. And I wish it wasn't called that since I live there, but it is. And you see, in the world, that's pretty much the attitude, "Well, you show me, and then I'll believe it." But if you're going to get along in God's economy, you've got to learn to be just the exact opposite. I'll believe it, and then I'll see it. We always believe first, sometimes for a long time, with all kinds of tests in between. But if you won't give up, be not weary and well-doing for in due season you shall reap if you faint not. I love to go and look at Hebrews 11 just every once in a while. It's just says, now, faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Faith is the substance, the amplified Bible says, so it's a real thing, it has substance. Faith is a substance of things we hope for, the evidence of things we do not see. So I may not, I won't have it in the natural until I first have it by faith. When I first started serving God, I always believed that because I'd been abused, I would just have to be satisfied with a second-rate life. I would have never thought back then that I could be doing what I'm doing now. I mean, it really, really, really, really is a miracle. But you know, it wasn't something that just all of a sudden happened. I mean, there was a lot of hard work and a lot of sacrifice and swimming pools full of tears and quitting and starting again, quitting and starting again, giving up and getting started again. Listening to sermons and reading books and reading books and reading books and reading books and reading books and reading the Bible and reading the Bible. This is not just, you know, one dabble, do you? You can't just, like, have a lifetime full of problems and go to church a couple times and then get mad at God if they're not all fixed. I remember the lady who came to me. I was somewhere up there on the East Coast, but I don't remember exactly where. That was when we had few enough people in our meetings that I could pray for everybody at the end. And she came and she looked at me and she said, "But I want my money back." I said, "I don't understand what you're talking about." She said, "Listen, I've been doing what you told me to do for three weeks and nothing has changed." Honestly, it was hard for me not to laugh in her face. We'll give the dabble 50 years to destroy us, but we don't want to give God more than three weeks to fix us. Come on, this is going to take time and consistency and willingness to be obedient to God. Some of you, your lives could radically change if you would just get rid of some of the friends you got. If you take him and keep all the old stuff... There's going to be some things that he's going to want to prune out of your life. But there are things that are killing you anyway. And in Romans 11... I can't take time to read this word for word, but I'm going to skip around here and hopefully you'll get something. By faith, we understand that the universe was formed. By faith, Abel brought God a better offering than Cain. By faith, he was commended as righteous when God spoke well of his offering. By faith, Abel still speaks even though he's dead. By faith, Enoch was taken from this life so that he didn't even experience death. By was that God took him because he walked with God. By faith, Noah built an ark. By faith, Abraham, when he was called to a place that he didn't even know where he was to go, went, walked away from everything, and went. By faith, Moses' parents hid him when they'd been ordered to not keep him. By faith, Sarah gave birth to a child when she was long past the childbearing age. By faith, and by faith, and by faith, and by faith, and by faith. If you want to do anything, it's going to have to be by faith. I wish that I could describe to you how little Dave and I knew about what we were doing when we started this ministry. I mean, it just was totally nuts for us to believe that we could go all over the world and preach the gospel. But that's what I felt like God had said to me, and I don't even know how I believed it, but I believed it. If I thought about it practically in my mind, then I couldn't believe it. But if I just looked at what was in my heart, I believed it. See, that's the way God works. He'll put something in your heart that makes no sense at all to your natural mind, and you have to make your mind up if you're going to go with your head. Don't you love it when you ask somebody a question? They say, "Well, off the top of my head." I said, "The last thing I need is what's on the top of anybody's head." You know what we need and what God gives us as we walk in the spirit, one of these beautiful things about kingdom living is discernment. It means that not a function of your mind. But a function of your spirit, you can know when something is right or wrong and you don't even know how you know and you just know. But most of the time we go with what we think because we're afraid to trust, we call it a check. And there have been times when some perfect person would come along that seem like they'd be perfect for a position in our ministry. And I just know why, but I just didn't feel right. Something just wasn't right. You know, it took me a long time to get to the point where I would pay attention to that. And I would think, well, I don't want to be dumb, so I'd go ahead and hire them and then, sure enough, we'd have all kinds of trouble. God wants to give you discernment. And He can give you discernment even about timing. When I need to talk today about something that could be volatile, I never do it without praying first that God will give me the perfect timing and show me exactly when the time is right. We don't just do things when we want to do them or do what we feel like doing. We've got this communication thing going on with Jesus and we're always asking Him to help us in every situation. I don't even try to put my contact lens in in the morning without asking God to help me. One morning I thought, no, that's silly. This is just a pair of contact lenses. I don't need to pray about putting my contact lenses in. Well, it took me about seven tries that morning to get them in. I thought, well, forget that. I get it, God. Help me. We walk by faith. We live by faith. But faith is all about believing what this says more than you believe what you see or feel. Come on. Is anybody with me? And I'll tell you what I want you to do. I want you to turn your faith loose. I think some of you just need to be stirred up again in believing God for greater things. That's what Paul told Timothy. Stir up your faith. Fan that flame. Maybe some of you at one time really were believing God for something that was impossible and you just waited so long and had so much trouble that you've just lost sight of the whole thing. And maybe God wants to reignite you today and get you on fire again and get you to stir your faith up. And if you don't just kind of decide Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. You're not too old to do something new. Come on. And you don't believe me. I didn't even go on TV. It allowed us 52. Who starts something like that at 52?
