I know I have a certain association with a certain morning show. You know, we'll get into that. We absolutely will. I'll see if the people alert me to what was going on. I heard some scuttlebutt about it. I did hear some scuttlebutt about the morning show. We'll discuss Spencer Raxter's roaming around right now. Spencer Raxter with the Big Hollow. This is the Lions Play on Monday night. We haven't even had a chance to really get into it. That's how tight of a grip the Tigers have on this city right now. And I'll say this, like, I hear some of the people talking about the Tigers and listening around town. And I saw the people starting to pipe up the calling fans, bandwagon fans and stuff like that. And look, if anybody would have a quote unquote "right" to do that, I guess, it would be me to some degree. Right? Yeah, sure. Because we talk about it all the time. Absolutely. The reason I get so passionate, DMACC, is because of the amount of time I put it. We've gone over this a million times. With that being said, even me who generally would say, you know, where you guys been, this has become a thing, DMACC. It's bigger than baseball. It's bigger. The story attached to it. The Detroit Tigers are our city. The Detroit Tigers are Detroit. Grady Kigs. That's what I'm saying. Like, and it's rare. Go back to the Old English D. Million percent do like it's bigger than a lucky stretch or a run or anything like that. Like this team identifies with this city and this city identifies with this team. And that can be corny sometimes. Like, don't get me wrong. Like, we take the Detroit versus everybody stuff too far sometimes, I think. But this, this, what's going on here, DMACC, this is Detroit. No, because we know it. Right? Younger fans don't know it. And the fans that are experiencing this for the first time, because I haven't seen something the last 10, 12 years out of any sports team. But it's when the fan, like the, what I always said, and as a professional in this town, right? The Detroit sports fan, no matter what sport, is fickle, right? But they're knowledgeable. So when they see the work ethic, like they give every day, everybody, whatever they're doing as they're nine to five or their 12 hours shift or putting the work in, they see the effort and they see when it's real. We've seen it from back in our day, winning cups, you know, with the grind line and with even like our star guys, how hard they work from the Russian fives to the Eiserman's Lindstrom stuff like this, our top guys worked hard. That's what they think going to work pistons. Everybody buys in. When we feel it's real, everybody's in and if we mobilize, we mobilize a national guard in a tragic situation, man. No. What a great spending. I were in the building last night. What a great down at America. Great win. Damn, I said Riley Green yesterday and it was torque. I knew it was one of those guys, right? Exactly. With a bomb last night, but the atmosphere downtown, that's what it's all about. So if you build it, the fan will come. We've seen it with the lions. We experienced that. Look at the way, like you said, everybody's just sort of like we're getting back into the groove of, okay, during the week and we're excited because we have a baseball team. We're going to focus on this. We got the weekend. It's not just one team that we have to talk about football the whole time or whatever else because we have other teams doing things. The Red Wings got underway last night. People are excited about their first exhibition game. Huge win. I'm kidding. You're right. What a ball. You know when the first one. But no, I think it's a vibe, so it's different in this town and everybody else is like, we're Kenny and I, right? Yep. A lot of people came from apathy this year, but we're ready to come back. We said it all along. I'm just going to take a break. It's about going to do it to myself because we watched you become a crackhead right every day. Now, thank God it's paid off and you rehab and everything is going good, right? But that's what it's all about being a fan and it's real. So that's what you're saying. People in this town will show up no matter what stadium it is when they feel it's real. Maybe it's I'm the one, right? Like I always said, like drug addicts, when I said, I just, I don't understand at what point did you think it was going to be a good idea? But look at me. Yeah. Still on the crack. The one person worked out for it made it better. Everything's better in moderation. It is. No doubt. In fact, anybody is sitting up here trying to trash fans and say bandwagon. Well, everybody thought this team was there. I mean, statistically, they were supposed to be there. You know what, KG? I think that's a part of it. Yes. This is one of those rare things where people are like honest about it. One of the rare things we have in this world and it's dying more every single day, but one of the rare things in the world where we're comfortable enough to say, you know what? I didn't believe. Nobody did. They were 10 and a half back. Who believed? They were dead. We haven't seen this in over 50 years in baseball. They were dead. They were dead and that, that gay, everyone's talking about like their moment, that game at San Diego when they were about to be swept in the series. And I was, I had actually flown down to Florida and listened to the game on the plane and listened to the game when I got to my room and was battling to stay awake. And I thought it was done. I'm like, well, just in this. And then I can, even I can tap out and they did it. But whatever, whatever your moment is, I'm glad everybody's here, DMACC. That's the moral of the story. Well, you're right. And then what did it take to happen and where you don't think that there's moments because Parker Metals hits his first opposite field home runs this little league, high school. I thought it was little league, so but but but look at the special moments that are happening. Like you're watching it. Just enjoy it. That's what I sense too, Neil, is we realize how long it's been. But people are starting to enjoy it again. And DMACC, it goes back to what I said the other day. And this this is why this is why you're not going to hear me gatekeep because we live in the age of gatekeepers, KG, as we've talked about. You're not going to hear me gatekeep ever because this this is organic and this is something that we should celebrate because a there's nothing to lose. There's absolutely nothing to lose. So just off the plate, but listening there that had some people that, like you said, spent a little bit older that you tell us these tickets, but having a great baseball conversation because they were commenting going, well, for the new, this is rather long long game. There's a lot of three, two counts. Yeah. You know, a lot of stuff like that. Then there's another dude down here just absolutely up the umpires, up and down, but not in a vulgar way, not in anything like just in a all positive and then behind the boy, it was such, it's such a great people watching and enjoyable where everybody can get. However, however you want to spend, so you can do tiger. Letting people know you got different gears at the tiger game. And I did. I went to the pro shop. I got a jersey. Um, Avi Bios, City Connect. But then the night, I was at my son's soccer game last night and I was, I was listening on the radio watching the game and the crowd was electric and it was one of those organic moments that you can't really plan and it hit me. I haven't seen that ballpark like that in years. Park is packed. You had the little orange sky and everything like that. Just that picture, man. That says it all. It's back, baseball's back and it's back because of Terrik Schuobel, Riley Green, Carrie Carpenter, Parker Meadows, except Wencio Perez, the bull pin, every single guy in the bull pin. Yep, like that's why it's back and AJ Hinch, of course. But yeah, DMACC, it was, you were down there, spending was down there, Chuck Brewer, Neil channeling his inner San flannel with that take. Never lose again. Doesn't it feel that way, though? It does. Doesn't it feel like it feels like they can do no wrong? It feels like everything's, you know, if it's going their way, right? They're doing every move that AJ makes is the right move. So you just kind of ride it out, but you know, you have the potential and the one thing is that it goes without the non-negotiable is that they play hard all 27 outs. They run balls out. You know, they do the little thing. How about their base running? Comparatively, they're the best first to third team. I saw it again last night, saw just absolute pinwheel at third, scoring McKinsey from first. Like, they're aggressive, right, on the base pass, and that's something that's really helped this team with the youth. The couple I was sitting in front of, the older couple, the lady mentioned, she says, well, they're younger. You know, they're a lot younger than they used to be, which is true, but so some of the things that we're gonna have to watch them go through learning process with that bats and stuff, they're doing a heck of a job. And they're doing a great job in the field, too. So they're doing doing the little things. But the base running, it's pretty to watch them run the bases. I heard this story too. Burn brings it up in the chat. Gibby was saying there were people who had no idea that they didn't accept cash at the park anymore because it's been so long since they think about that. That's crazy. Yeah. It's been a while since it's been like that. Yeah, but it's behind that since COVID. Yeah, for real. But that's it. You know what I'm saying? So, yeah, the Tigers' magic number is three. That's combinations of Tigers' wins and twins' losses. They just got to win out, though. They control their own destiny. If they win out, they clench on Saturday night, if no matter what the twins do. Now, the twins fell behind three-nothing against the Marlins before the Marlins' magic really wore off. So what I did is I stepped my game up today. Yeah. The Marlins throwback. The Florida. The Florida Marlins. Screw Miami. All of Florida. Florida. Yeah. I went back to the Florida Marlins throwback hat. You know, the two-world series Florida Marlins, by the way. So that's... I pulled out my... This is it. This is all I have left in the clip, K.G. This is it. It better be. I lost the bonus bet messing with you and your damn Marlins, man. Because you didn't consult with me. I didn't. I didn't. I'm sorry. Time to take the Marlins was pre-game. I know. I won it. I wanted to get in live and then I saw the three, the three run line. I felt good about it. I had to be disciplined, man. I felt good about it, man. I felt good about it, man. But even so, like, the Marlins did their job. They won a game. It's a two-to-one underdog every game. So anything that happens today is a bonus, DMACC. 100%. We gotta take care of business because the schedule of playing the Rays, we just control our own destiny. So, I mean, you're in a great situation. Keep on going out. You just mentioned the fact of, does it feel like we're ever going to lose again? Well, we shouldn't lose this last series, right? We shouldn't lose. Did I finish them off? This is where you're at. This should be the message in the locker room. Job's not done yet. You know, I was spending, I was going to mention you. Wasn't it really cool? We'll be able to go back and say, hey, I was in the, I was like America when Jackson Joe made his first appearance out of the pad and that place was electric. Oh, yeah. I heard people knew it. Like it was, it wasn't one of those things that they were sliding in. People were waiting for that. They were calling, they were calling for him when he started, when he was on the feed. Yeah, I heard they started in the eighth inning, we won't Joe. Yeah. He, and you know what? He mentioned, talked about it after in his post-game interview too. So, yeah, I thought that was pretty, pretty cool. And because A, it was scoreless, but he came in there throwing, I think his first pitch was like high 96, then the hit that was gone off and was 99. Yeah. So, he, hopefully he realized in that early time is that he could throw as hard as he wants, but if he doesn't, you know, that fast ball, you have to major league level now, and I'm sure there'll be some growing pains, but it's one of those, you know, win, win, whatever, everything plays out right. That's where you want the kid to make his debut. And a game like that, where he can get it out of the way. So now he's felt the crowd and everything else, but people were electric, Neil. And in that park, when he pitches in that park, dude, like, it's just, there's so much pressure on the Scooble stuff because this becomes real than everybody. Like once it's in the playoffs, now we're playing for keeps. You know what I'm saying? Absolutely. And you say that you still have house money this year. No, no, no, I understand that. But it's the one, one pitch, like it's so emotionally taxing to be a fan for a playoff baseball game. Like we forget this. The one, one pitch in playoff baseball is electric because if it's a ball, your chance of getting on base versus it being one and two, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, absolutely. The emotional swings are incredible. And it's just, we are wholly dependent on winning that Scooble start, wholly dependent. But I will say this, D-Mac, when you look at the path, because we're going to end up playing the Astros. Like that's the way we're in, like I'm caught, we're in, and we're playing the Astros. That's how it's going to shake out. But when I start looking around, man, I don't, I don't, I'm not terrified of the Yankees. Garrett Cole is mid. I have him on my fantasy team this year. He's very mid. He rarely makes it into the sixth inning. You want me to fear Carlos Rodon? No, like even, even with the Astros, Verlander probably won't even be in the rotation for the Astros. You know, his ERA is almost six this year. You can, you go into every single series in the MLB, in the playoffs, in general, not just in the AO, but definitely in the AO with the best pitcher in the series and the, and the best manager in the series. Yeah. You got a shot. That's what I'm saying. Like if you can, and the Tigers have been masterful at this, masterful. You get the big hit because DMEC, what do we talk about the first night of the Tampa series? I walked in here and said our five through nine hitters were over 14 with five strikeouts. You can get away with that, but you have to pull one of those out in the playoffs. You have to be able to win that game in the playoff with not your best stuff. If you're five through nine goes over 14 in a playoff game of five strike out, you may win. Yeah. I'll tell you what, I'll take it one step further. If Spencer Torkelson can perform more like he did yesterday than he did two days ago, they'll get to the Alcs. You know, you know, it's funny, Spetti, because I think you and I are vibe in here. Like Riley Green and Kerry Carpenter are non-negotiate, right? Like that's understood. And they're going to produce like a trip to the club. If Torkelson can find his extra base power like he did yesterday, consistently, like we saw down the stretch a couple of years ago, they will get to the Alcs, having a masher in the middle of that lineup with all those guys that can get on base. That's the only thing they've been missing. That would be huge. The only issue I foresee before we go to the break and I've noticed this a ton in baseball is when you get to the playoffs, I don't expect it. Everything does that hard reset. Everybody's 0 for 0 and everything is so magnified. If you're 0 for 2, you start gripping and DMACC marked me on this. When you guys were when the way to the world was on you guys and before you had cashed one in, I would imagine for you when you fall behind in a game that you're supposed to win. It creeps into your mind, I would imagine at some point. Yeah, but that's what separates men from the boys is that you got to fight through it. It's adversity and perseverance. That's why I put in yourself and why do you see a lot of times good teams, even this tiger team, right? Through this big run that they've had, it's not like they're getting out like yesterday and just, you know, waxing teams and being ahead and playing from ahead. They would play from behind most of the time, but they don't quit, it's that mentality. There's also a comfort level in that sometimes that you got to fight against that you don't worry about, but you it's it's a fine line because you can't get down too much or rely on that before you get going. It's just sometimes that's the way it is. And whereas Jeremiah Bayer in the World sports show says Perez is more important than Torque taking 30 pitches in the game. Perez has been great. Yeah. And when he gets on base, when he takes those walks, I love it. You know what's more important than that? Homer. Spencer Torkelson hitting a double and doubling them in rather than striking out. Like that, Perez getting on base is I love it. It is extremely important what Spencer Torkelson is going to be the guy that drives him home or strikes out. Yeah. And that's and that's that's the overriding point that I want to drive home to the people because we haven't done this in a decade. So we didn't even know that Comerica Park didn't take cash anymore at the stadium. So there are some other things that we have to get equated to the pressure and that one one pitch. Yeah, it's different. It's. Perez has been insane. You know, I can't wait for that first one one pitch and a Tigers playoff game. Just you get so high or low on a strike or a ball. It's irrational. Yeah, it's where the depth comes into play. All right. Don't want to do the rag know thing or don't want to do the art. Let me do the rag know thing right now and see how far this goes for the look. The trade deadline. We know Spencer Raxter's thoughts on the trade. Whatever it takes. Get somebody here. And that's fine. That's fine. DMEC. Let me run this question by you about the lions. Given the nature of Frank rag now, the discussions in the past and the recent past coming into this year, you know what I wouldn't hate to see DMEC is? I wouldn't hate to see the lions, even if it's with a prime pick, kind of shore up that offensive line with a first round pick, if need be, for real. And I know that's a future discussion stuff all the time, all right. What's that? It's about time. That's my point. Like I think we need to adjust our thought process and get comfortable with that because what is what is what does it always seems like the good teams do all the time. Load up. I'm always taking an offensive lineman, you know, early in the draft. Well, that's your strength. Right. We've said that. That's the backbone to your team. So you got to always make sure that it's insulated, you know, we've had because you've got a gold jacket loading penny. So well, Taylor Decker's been great Frank rag now, but these guys are getting up. It's also having guys that can fill in and be part of that nine man rotation or whatever it is. And again, you got to be thinking about and Brad Holmes, I'm sure is that next contract. It just seems to me, right? Penne Sewell is the last first round lineman offensive lineman picked. So that was what? Three years ago? Yeah. Right. So it's time, right? That's that's the way. Cyclically, you got to go out and it's time to pick that guy. And usually what what would you think it's probably because we're at with Frank, you might go to one of these center, these is there that center out there that's going to come in and fill Frank's job, just the way Frank filled Dom's job. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? That center position is so key. I would even double down on it. I would go get somebody notable at the center position in free agency if possible and draft at that position. And then that opens you up to do that. If you do that with a veteran guy like they did with Zaitler this year, right, who really let you say it's coming to his starting to come into his own and get comfortable and not offensive. Whatever Brad, like Neil, I think Kenny brings up a great point, however they do it to solidify it because I could go with getting a pro ball guy or or that next guy that's already established and then draft in a second round off right to fill it up as long as you're filling those needs. But I wouldn't be against if Brad home says, no, we're drafting an offensive lineman. This is what we're doing. Okay. I'm curious to get your thoughts, Benny. Is that guy out there, Spenny? I haven't. We haven't gone that. Yeah. I haven't dove into that yet, but yeah, I would agree with that, you know, when you're picking 32 overall, you know, in the first round, you could get a good interior offensive lineman there, which lines we'll be doing next year and that's and you guys have heard me talk about this before. I'm big on it. I do it with fantasy drafts. I think teams do it in real drafts. If I can get the best of something, yeah, typically when you're at the back of the draft, what can you get the best of? Why? It's interior offensive. Yeah. Maybe the best center, you know, stuff like that. It's just for me, and again, I'm not saying like it's over for Frank Ragnell or anything like that. It's a real discussion. It's a real. He's contemplated. Retired me over this last off. That's my point. And I know like lost in all the, you know, window, super bowl or bust, all of that. Yeah. Like we didn't, we didn't talk about it a lot if at all. That's a great point, Kenny. Yeah. You brought up that remember after this season that he played through that there was that time period of am I going to retire? So with these injuries, what do you got this year next year, maybe three years. He's not even 30 years ago. And here's the one thing that you have to be confident is this conversation is already going on at Ford Field, right between Brad, Dan, and whatever else. You know, D-Mac, and you turn me on to this, and this was something that I learned from you when we started working together here at Woodward every day, when you talked about the Steve Eiserman board. Are we still getting too caught up in the details DMACC? A little bit. No, it's like expectations at the end of the day, but I think it's coming along. I see progress in the base as far as okay, it's when in the game, not sweating too much of the smaller stuff, being aware of things like you look at like we're everybody. The second half of the Arizona game, we didn't put a point on the board, but it didn't ever felt like we were didn't have control of that game. You know what I mean? We did the little. So it's more to the expectations, but I think we're getting there. And we can't be Kansas City yet. They all got two Super Bowl wins and it reminds me, remember last year's Kansas City? It was just like we beat them out of the rip. They lost another game down the road. It just didn't seem like they were there, but they're always there. So it's just understanding and it's more like the, you know, we got this now we want it. We want to see improvement. What I want to see Neil in my haven't seen is a 60 minute game, right? Is that consistent game, that game plan? You just want the offense to be sharp. Yes. I think that's what you're driving. That's all it because because look, are we all pretty, you know, like we're, if we're going to get nitty and granular, yes, I want Terry and Honor, he's still learning, you know, what he can get away with and, you know, pass interference penalties, but, but everything else on the defense, it's, it's common and it's only going to get better. As long as they stay healthy, but, but yes, you're the number one, it just, can we just maybe this week operate like we did last year and they did in the first half. They did. But not for the whole game, but not for the whole game, you know, but I, again, for the people that say, and by the way, we are switching roles on Lions game day, yes, the heavyweights will be handling the pregame duties down at second best in Detroit. It's because of the timing and their show will be going on in roughly the, the pregame show time. I will be hosting the watch party, by the way. So look out. I'll beat her, which is going to be fun. We're going to switch roles. So we'll enjoy that and that'll be fun and that'll be a good time. But with that being said though, they still, I was not as critical the offense in the second half as the masses were because they still got first downs. They still move the ball to some degree. And guess what? You have a good defense now. I mean, it really is a blessing in this guy's because what are we talking about here? We're talking about our red zone execution, we're not talking between the 20s, right? We can move the ball. It's not like, it's not like that. Sometimes it seems like we were just trying to be smarter than the rest of the room instead of just being basic and, you know, pounding the ball until we get stopped because we, we stop ourselves. Yeah. In the ball. The other team doesn't really stop us. But that is true, but I just go off the fact that we have three years of data that suggests that the Lions will get this together, at least offensively. I think the scope really needs to be on how good this defense has been through three games so far. We can go out there and have a three and out drive and count on our defense to stop the opponent's offense. Last year we didn't have that luxury. If we lost the ball, then we can expect to get cooked on the other end. That's not happening so far. So I think that's a credit to AG and just the way this defense is played and knowing that you can play the field position game now. That's something that wasn't afforded us last year. You can actually legitimately play the field position game. And if you got a grind out a second half, the offense is not working, so be it. But the defense is getting it done, then it works. I wonder too if that played a part because when we were out at Hey Social for the Watch Party last game, I think you had left by this point. And in the fourth quarter, a fourth and two came up or whatever it was. I don't remember exactly what it was. And they pun it. Yeah. Were you still there for that one? No, no. I was gone. I was leading the charge to go for that. Right. A lot of people were. I, but you know, I'm not a good case study because I want to go for every fourth down. Of course. But like, I wonder, if I was having a beer with Dan Campbell, you know, no microphones in the corner of the bar at the back of the bar, and I asked him, I said, Dan, did the fact that you have more, do you have more confidence in this defense and did that lead you to making that? Yeah. I got Jack Fox. Don't give it twisted. Yeah. All these. The second most important player on this team to know that you do to know in your bag, you have Jack Fox that he's going to like knock one into the 10 yard line. What is it like as consistent as as there is a punner in the league, right? And then you still weren't sure if they were punting, they could have gone for it. That's that's a stormer every time, no matter where, if you're going to go for it from your own 20, right, you're you're going to go for it anywhere. So I think it's like a lot of the cat and mouse game. But to your point, when you have confidence that your defense can bring you a stop. And that's like, look at what look at what that defense did to Kyle and Murray. Yes. Right? He kept a little, you know, the little scramble feet pretty much contained and didn't let him do. Like you watch what he does other teams earlier in the year and and from now on out, we did a heck of a job against him. Yeah. And to your point, Neil, it does seem like Dan Campbell was coaching a little more conservatively so far this year. I know. I don't like it. I understand that. I think about the pass. Why did Dan Campbell really start going for fourth downs all the time? There was no choice. You didn't trust your kicker all the way. You didn't trust your defense all the way. So now that you have it, we think we have two of those things, he's starting to change it up a little bit. And I think that's a, that's a, that goes a long way like in the good category. We don't have to, we're not living and dying on fourth downs, you know, as much as we have in the past. I don't think we need to burn in the chat.
