September 27th, 2024. Tomorrow's an excellent day of college football. Sunday is probably the best slate of games that we've had through four weeks of the NFL season. It is a rainy Friday night lights evening around the DMV and a football Friday is ready to get underway. Ladies and gentlemen, Danny Rubio. My God, that's who pays music. Dude, it does not run us at this before the show started. It does not feel like Friday because you and I had like a delayed start to our week because we were traveling through Tuesday evening. We get back and it's like, okay, now the start of the week is here. No, it's already Friday. We're talking about a football weekend and got underway last night. With a pretty gross game. Ultimately kind of choppy, not a lot of flow, a lot of ref attention, including a couple of botched calls that I thought were just egregious. And again, I always call this in a question. I know it's not the point. But if we have replay and we can't figure out something that's so obvious, why do we have replay? So this is, you know, whatever, who cares? But Daniel Bellinger got called for a face mask when it was his face mask that got grabbed and he never touched anyone's face mask. Anyone's at any point in time 30 yard swing. I don't get that. So what happened? Did the ref tell the umpire a face mask on the correct defensive player who grabbed his face mask and then the umpire announced it wrong and nobody noticed? Or did the ref get confused? Or did he think he saw something and didn't see like what actually happened on that play? I don't know because what did happen was that on a third down, a giant had his face mask grabbed by a cowboy. They assessed a face mask against the giants to end a drive and cost them points in a game that ultimately was decided by one possession. But I'm wondering the actual like where was the flaw in the system? Did they just make a bad call where they thought they saw something they didn't see? I get the sense that the referee that saw the penalty probably said the penalty was on the cowboy's and it got lost somewhere in telephone and nobody really noticed. The next thing, you know, they kick a field goal and they're on to the next. Yeah. I mean, you got moments where there was going to be a hold on the Dallas touchdown and I think I think the New York or whatever office buzzed down and said, "Nope, no hold." And they picked the flag up. I don't know if that's exactly how the mechanics went, but that's the most easily correctable thing. And it's like, I don't know what to do. We're just befuddled. The play clocks at zero for one, one thousand, almost two, one thousand, and they snap it and they go, "Oh, well, I can't believe it's no well." And with all of the billions and all the attention and all the millimeters upon millimeters that define this game on a weekly basis, how close all of these games are, we just sort of go, "Yeah, it's a 30 yard swing." Anyway, next play. Like, I can't believe it. So to your point, replay assistance is what you're looking for. The replay assistance, which is the somebody buzzing down and telling the refs they got at wrong thing that should be ubiquitous. We use it sometimes, not all the time. How did they not correct the face mask issue? They did correct the hold that wasn't a hold and they picked up the flag. They later in the game, if you remember, there was a throw to Wandell Robinson where he dropped the pass, was kind of on an island all by himself, looked like he took a couple of steps and then fumbled. As it turned out, he didn't actually catch the pass. But when he dropped the ball and fumbled, the Cowboys had a clean recovery and were going the other way for what would have been a touchdown on a 12 point swing, essentially, with the Giants driving. Replay assistance buzzed down and said it wasn't a fumble, it was an incomplete pass. And oh, by the way, the Giants had an ineligible man downfield. But why are we using that some of the time and not all the time? That's got to be more uniform where A, they've got to do a better job communicating. Is this replay assistance and what did they actually review? Why did they change the call? What did they see and B, when are they able to use it and when aren't they? And why can't they use it on every play then? Why are they only fixing some of the bad calls and not the others? But inevitably last night, the Cowboys get a win 20 to 15. They're two and two. The Giants fall to one and three that Prescott and Dallas offensively could not run the ball. That's not new. That has been a problem all year long, but they did enough. They only needed 20 points. One of those scores came on a 55 yard touchdown catch by CD Lamma at seven for 98 in the game. And Prescott was pretty efficient, 220, two scores, no turnovers, five incompletions. But it was kind of a yawn fest. It was a little bit of a boring game. As you said, a lot of penalties and the energy on the Thursday night broadcast is terrible. I'm sorry. It just is. Al Michaels is one of the greatest broadcasters in the history of sports. He's one of the great play by play guys that's ever lived. He has zero energy. Kirk Herb Street either matches his energy or also has no energy because he's got 15 jobs and he's busy like petting his dog. I'm not really sure. I love Kirk Herb Street. I do. He is awesome on college football. He is amazing on college game day. He's one of my favorite broadcasters. I'm not really sure what's happening. I have to imagine that he's just kind of meeting Al Michaels where Al Michaels is. But that broadcast is a snooze fest. And then you add the game to it. It was just brutal last night, I thought. At the end of the game, Danny, Al Michaels at one point, he kind of sits out for like several seconds of just watching. There's no real net sound though. So there's nothing really going on noticeable on the field. And then he goes, all right. Our post game cruise ready. I mean, that was the sign off right because it sounded like someone's talking in his ear telling him, okay, let everyone know the post game shows ready. He's just listening while it's happening. Then he receives word. He goes, all right, post game show. It's like, oh my God, dude. Oh, I know it sounds like we're just we're overly complaining about it. But man, oh man, it's because you already said it. If there's a hall of fame, put on Michaels in right now. Let him enjoy that. He was tremendous. Some of the most signature calls in the history of sports period full stop. The way that it sounds now is Michaels is now a one out of 10 in terms of energy. So can you imagine what it would sound like if her street was like this? What about amazing playing? Okay. Second and four. That has to be terrible, you know, so herpshoots now just sunk down to that same level and that was a good play. And you can see what they wanted to do there and try to get them on outside one on one. And all right. Let's see second down. You know, it's, it's this I'm sorry to bother you guys, you know, like we're, we're trying to get into this thing. It just doesn't match it. Here's the question I've got coming out of that game because the giants, I thought out played the Cowboys in a lot of ways. They had more yards than Dallas, they ran more plays than the Cowboys. They couldn't finish drives. They were the commanders of a couple of weeks ago when they played the Giants. It was all field goals. Five of them buy a backup kicker and Greg Joseph, who they just signed the former Viking filling in because Graham Gino's still hurt. They're on their third kicker, I think in three weeks actually, New York is, but Daniel Jones was pretty good. He was terrible when it came to throw in the ball downfield and that was the difference. At one point last night, he was like 26 of 30 and his incompletions were all 20 plus yards down field where he's two for 14 this year. I thought Malik neighbors was incredible again. Malik neighbors is a superstar, 15 targets, 12 catches, 115 yards. He's off to a historic beginning to his career. This was his second time with 10 catches and a hundred yards and four weeks as an NFL receiver. He lines up everywhere all the time. Like there is no consecutive play where it's okay, trot's out to the left and that's where he is. It just feels like everything is a design to get in the football. I love it. I love it. One in man coverage. You can just say, I mean, he's great. I had a concussion at the end of the game, but the Giants at one and three are very flawed, obviously. The Cowboys are two and two. You impressed by them at all? None of the little, they played a terrible game against the Saints. They played a bad three quarters against the Ravens, came storming back still lost. And then last night, an unimpressive win against the Giants. They have one quality victory, I would say, in terms of performance. And that was against the not very good Browns team in week one, who the Giants have also beat their only win in four games. If the Eagles aren't good, Danny, then I'm willing to say right now there's not a good team in the NFC East. So the question might be about Philly, but are we sure that there's a really good team in the NFC East right now that is standing in Washington's way from doing something no one thinks they can do? So I'm not sure, but I still believe that Philly's good. Remember they haven't had AJ Brown, they lost a Monte Smith, no Ling Johnson, then a number of injuries up and down. And maybe you hold that against him and say, well, yeah, right now, they're not that good. My point is they've kind of shredded water here. They should be three now with some decent clock management. They would have beat Atlanta. I'll go the other way. They could very easily be 0 and 3. Totally true. They should have probably lost the Packers game if it was on any kind of site in the United States of America where the footing was better. And they had no business beating the Saints this past week, other than two Saints players running into each other on a mesh concept to get Dallas Goddard free for 70 yards. So the margins are smaller, two in one. You're absolutely right. They could be 3 and 0. They could also be 0 and 3. For sure. I guess it just goes to show you, but my point is they're playing competitive football without a couple of stars or even even a few stars and then some really good players to boot. So either hold that against them saying, Hey, yeah, they're not that good. Like look at San Francisco. Are they good? I think so. But that's pending everybody that's awesome coming back at some point, right? So that's kind of my same philosophy on on on Philadelphia. I mean, I'll take a four to 60 yard offensive performance week in and week out, which is what they did last week against the Saints only end up scoring 15 points and it was only because two guys collided to your point that they finally got that late game touchdown to win it. So I still think Philly's good defensively. I've been pretty impressed with them. They shoved it on a New Orleans team averaging 2 million a game. I thought that was pretty impressive. This weekend, I'll tell a lot. They're going to Tampa who's, you know, got knocked off their pedestal a little bit with it with a substandard performance in week three. But Tampa Bay's pretty good and has had their number recently as well. So I still think they're good, but I'm not sure if that's if that's the question. I don't think there's a great team in the division. Is there a good team in the division? I'm willing to meet you on Philadelphia somewhere in the middle and say, they're pretty good. They haven't played like it. I've been utterly unimpressed, but I'm willing to say without AJ Brown, it's different. They didn't have Devontay Smith this past weekend. Their top wide receiver was Johan Dotson and they won with Dallas Goddard leading the way as a receiver in the Saquan Barkley show. And the reason I do like Philly a little bit is because Barkley's proven to be a tremendous addition. That might be the move of the off season through three games right now in the NFL. He's in the running for offensive player of the year and he's been a godsend while they've got these receiver issues, but the Cowboys are not impressive. The Giants are going to be a sub 500 team and I think the Eagles are closer to a if things go well, you win 10 or 11 games type team than they are competing for the top spot in the conference at 12 or 13 wins. My point is look around the NFC East people. It's not that good a division. If you played Dallas this weekend, if you're Washington, you're not worried about that game. Now they might beat you. Sure. You're not that good either, but that's a bad matchup for the Cowboys. I think Dallas can't run the ball. You want to be Washington? They're going to let you run the ball on them probably. Similarly, the Cowboys before last night couldn't stop the run. They did a really good job against Devin Singletary. I didn't stop in the commanders as a whole different ordeal, but they were the worst run stopping team in the league through a couple of weeks going into last night. So on paper, I would just say Washington is the type of team that might give the Cowboys fits. Two games come and at this moment, you'd assume the commanders are going to beat the Cowboys in one of those two games, right? You would say based on what you've seen. Based on the matchup, Philly is going to be more of a handful if AJ Brown and if Devontay Smith are healthy, but I'm just not worried about those teams. And maybe this is in some way an endorsement of Washington, less an indictment of the other teams, even though that's how I'm viewing it. In the past, the Cowboys were head and shoulders better, Eagles decidedly better. I don't think that's the case, really. I don't look at a team in this division is saying they are well out in front of where Washington is right now. And I think that's fair. I mean, as you, as you said, you kind of, you kind of go through it. This is not 2020 where the division was historically bad and Washington won it in a big fraudulent way and everyone patted around the very on the back and we congratulated ourselves on a seven and nine season when the Eagles quite literally tried to lose, right? It's not that so funny, by the way, yeah, the Eagles could have won the division in week 17 in game 16 with the division on the line and they actively bench their quarterback because he was playing too well. And they were about to win the division. And that's how Rivera won that division with the, were they the Redskins or the football team? It must have been the football team. So yeah, to clean that up, they were, they were a four and 11 team that year in 2020 coming off the, they're super bowl appearances. So they couldn't have. Okay. That's right. Yeah, they didn't want to do anything. But, but no, no, they could have won the game. That's what it was. They couldn't have won the division, but they were going to win the game and they didn't want to cost themselves draft position. That's right. And so they said, Jalen hurts. What are you doing, man? You're moving up and down the field and scoring touchdown stop. And so they benched him and put in Nate Sunfeld. Sudfeld. Yeah, that's right. Put in Russell's boy, Nate Seidfeld purposefully trying to make it harder to beat the bad Washington team that then beat the backup quarterback to get to seven wins. Otherwise Washington would have finished with six and maybe the Giants or the Cowboys whoever it would have been someone else. Yeah. They would have gotten in at six wins or seven wins. Six wins, by the way. Yeah. And Washington won that game 20 to 14. Never forget. But yeah, you know, listen, we said it then it was empty calories and it certainly was. Those donuts went down nice and smooth. So it's not, it's not that division, right? At Sugar High tasted good that morning. I had fun. It's not that year, right? And I think I don't think anybody's saying that, but it's also not a couple of years ago. Either were Phillies 13 and four or, you know, 12 and five or whatever. They might end up getting there, but they're not as good as they were the last couple of seasons. I'll even, I'll stipulate that. I still think they're good to pretty good to good, which is maybe a higher tier because there's more deposits in the bank than, than an upstart Washington team who's played well for a couple of weeks here. But the point is there's no juggernaut. There's no healthiest San Francisco. There's no, I don't know. You could pick the lions wagon from last year or Kansas City or somebody that's been really dominant. They don't have that right now. Jalen Hertz has more picks than touchdowns through three games. Yes, they could be three and oh, they could also be 0 and three. I'm just telling you this division is not running away from Washington anytime soon the way it looks. Philly is certainly the best team in it and they will be better when they get a J Brown back was one of the best receivers in football. Let's open up the MGM National Harbor listener lines to start the show on Washington and Arizona though. What's your gut tell you about commanders cardinals on Sunday? 800-636-1067 800-636-1067 Danny, how do you feel about the game? They're going to miss Austin Echler and I don't think we're talking about it enough. That is the easy button on offense that takes two and turns it into 10 that, you know, the kick returns have been massive. Start at the second half just really cementing the momentum that made sure it wasn't a flu put in Washington right in a scoring position without running a play. I think not having him is going to be a huge, huge, huge factor in this game. Arizona's defense is not particularly good. I mean, last week, everybody ran for 100 yards against them. Numbers approximate, Dave Montgomery included. So I think you're going to be able to thump, they can be able to move the football. I just think there's going to be a punt. I know we haven't done that in a month or so, but I think you'll have to give up the ball a couple times and I just don't think Washington can stop anybody. So I think they're going to lose the game by a score, but it's not going to be a roll over. The Cardinals defense only gave up 10 points to the Rams two weeks ago and only 20 points to the lions last week. They picked off Jared Goff. You ran the ball well on them. Well, we could go though. If you were Dan Campbell in Detroit, David Montgomery went for over a hundred four and a half pop. Uh, Jimir Gibbs, who's more of a twitchy explosive guy, five yards of carry 83 yards, combined those two right around 190 rushing yards against the Cardinals last week. So that tells me there might be something there. It's going to be hard earned, but four or five at a time for Brian Robinson. I wonder if there's a trick up their sleeve in the backfield or something gadget wise that they're going to try to do to get the ball. I think it's going to be a lot of endarounds and receivers carrying the football type stuff and jet action because what the Cardinals have struggled with a little bit early this season is backs with speed and guys who have some of that burst getting outside, not necessarily the downhill stuff on the interior, which it just takes more of those battering ram carries to matriculate the ball anyway, but they've given up, you know, the 18 yard carry to Gibbs last week. Some of that explosive stuff. I want to know how Kingsbury's going to do that without Austin Echler, but what's your feel on commander's Cardinals? That's the question eight hundred six, three six, one oh six, seven is the number Grant and Danny on the fan. I know there's a long ways to go here for Jayden, but for rookie is there any surprise to you at all what he's done, even just the first three days, you know, I don't try to, you know, put what he can and can't do on there, but what I have seen and what I expected to see was his improvement. I think you may have heard me say the bigger the challenge like sometimes with him the bigger the smile and that's on the field to go. So here it is another challenge, you know, this week, different fronts, good blitz package. Let us be ready for that as well, that was Dan Quinn on Jayden Daniels, he's got to be feeling good about his kid quarterback on into a week four game with the Arizona Cardinals. By the way, in case you're curious, the Cardinals defensively ranked 19th in the NFL and yards per play. They are sixth against the run, but they are 31st against the past. They have given up huge chunks, Danny, eight point two yards per completion against the Cardinals on past plays. They are 31st of 32 teams. They do get after the quarterback pretty well. They're sixth in sacks per pass attempt, so that's an area of the game I'm concerned about. That's something I'm monitoring. The question for you guys is what is your gut feel on commander's Cardinals. So I worry about penalties. There were zero through three plus quarters that just isn't going to happen. Doesn't happen. No team operates that cleanly. You know the Cardinals did what I would do, which was they put together a tape of 10 or 12 plays, I'm sure, where Washington could have been penalized, like any other team. And they sent that into the league and said, hey, they didn't get called for this. I want you to watch this. And you go into the game as an official knowing, hey, they had a pretty good goal of it last week. It was pretty clean for these guys. Yeah. Now, maybe they only have three penalties and we can all throw a party in high five after a win this week, but I just doubt it. I think there's a correction coming normally after a clean game or two. Like they've been playing the, the other shoe drops. So that's the first thing I think they'll be behind the chains because that holding will get called that didn't or that ineligible man or whatever it is. Number one, number two, I do worry about the sacks in this game or it just the pressures being dialed up. Jonathan Ganon is a good little coach and he does a nice job defensively with his staff on putting together a plan normally to get home as evidenced by them getting a sack on about 12% of plays or so, right? I mentioned there's only five teams that have done a better job, Jets, Texans, Broncos, Vikings, Giants who had five sacks against Jaden Daniels in one half and then the Cardinals. So I think there's going to be some hits on Daniels in the pocket, some sacks. I just hope it's not game changing minus eight minus 10 minus 12 type stuff. If you're Daniels and you're moving forward, if it's a five step drop, let's drop to five. Let's not just do the back pedal for a while or try to run around and, and create and then get sacked for now minus 12 because if you can not kill yourself behind the chains, then who cares if you're getting sacked for minus two or minus four? That's just like a run that didn't work at that point. It's not as big a deal. That's right. It's not the drive killer. Yeah. I mean, so the running thing I want to come back to talking about the run defense. I think their numbers are really buoyed by what they did in week number two to an anemic Rams team that just was totally overwhelmed over match, decimated by injury, who came off the mat, by the way, really impressively the following week against San Francisco, but that was utter domination. They gave up a buck 87 to Detroit, one 30 on the ground to the bills. A lot of that's Josh Allen scrambling, but a lot of it wasn't to say they have not been as good at the scrambling quarterback, which I'm getting to. Yeah, we'll get there. So I do think Washington will be able to run the ball this week. I just, I just saw it now. Detroit's got the best offensive line in the sport, probably a little thunder and lightning type action. We got thunder and I'm not sure what else this week, but I do think Washington will be able to move it a little bit on the ground, probably just thunder because it's going to be a lot of Brian Robinson. Yeah. What I hinted at though, at the end of the segment is I'll bet you you get three or more carries from wide receivers. Little McCaffrey lining up, a powder on an end around as a key a situation. Exactly. I would not be surprised, something Cliff Kingsbury did occasionally in Arizona with Hopkins and others. If you even got wide receivers to line up in the backfield, occasionally. Yeah. Let's see the last night. Yeah. He got a carry off tackle too, but Luke McCaffrey in training camp. He finally did line up at running back and, you know, not in actual 11 on 11s, but like at practice and work on getting carries and hitting holes and stuff. I don't think they're going to ask him to go be Christian McCaffrey. But look, you're one Brian Robinson injury away from what exactly? I mean, Jeremy McNichols and who? So if Robinson gets banged up or is in the blue 10 or the red hat, come and grabs him at some point in the second quarter, who's your tail back with McNichols? It's not like you're just going to start feeding him the football. So those are things they've got to be considering and thinking about. So you're going to see some end around some jet stuff. I think that will definitely be the case. Kyler Murray and this Cardinals passing game have been pretty effective. They're 12th and yards per pass attempt. This is a top five rushing offense though. And if I was the Cardinals, I'd come out and I would try to get the ground game going against Washington until they stopped it because I think teams that have committed to the run against Washington have actually had some success doing that. But my gut feel is actually that the commanders win a close game. I think it's going to be tight. I don't think it's going to be the style points victory of Monday night. It's not going to come as easily. I'm not sold on Arizona in the same way that I didn't think the Bengals were as good as kind of the market expected them to be. I think Arizona is still a very beatable average team. And while Washington is the exact same thing, they come in with all the momentum. They come in feeling really good about themselves. I think they're starting to flex a little bit in the mirror at the gym and like what they see. I think this feels like a 20 to 17, maybe a 23 20 game, but my gut tells me it's tight until the final wire and in Washington may win this thing. It's not crazy because I think I'm with you and where we're both teams kind of line up, right? I mean, again, in Arizona, they're doing the same thing that yeah, Washington played great on, on Monday night, but missed out, you know, not getting extra points in terms of two two point conversions, a field goal that's easily made. They just give up 38 points. We just struggle to talk them in Arizona against the Detroit team that's that we think is pretty good. Washington's not in that tear. This is a very winnable game for us and we're favored accordingly. So yeah, this is closer to a toss up, but the Echler absence is massive. That's that's the thing that I'm circling and by the way, he'll be on the show at five. We'll get to check in with him. Ideally, he's feeling better as he hops out of the concussion protocol and gets ready for football. Moving forward, they ruled him out very quickly this week with the big travel out West didn't want to have to get him out there, Arizona and ask him to play on a short week after a concussion. Let's go to Sean and Falls Church on Grant and Danny. What's up, Sean? How we doing guys? Thanks, Jay McCall. Hey buddy. Yeah. So I think your spot on in terms of trying to get some design runs from other people other than Robinson. I mean, maybe even Jaden there, I think it's going to be kind of integral is how he moves in the pocket in terms of the passing defense in and out of the pocket. And then just on both sides, you've got Echler out, you know, pass protection. He's big there. On the other side, McBride out for the Cardinals. I think that's a big, big thing. I think both teams are able to pass it pretty well. It's going to be in the 30s kind of like with Cincinnati, but yeah, oh, they're in the 30s again. Now we're talking and offensively, you start to really feel good about this group. He mentioned Trey McBride. We have not mentioned this, but he is out. He was a 90 catch, 80 catch last year, I should say the projection this year for him via the analytics sites was he was going to be a 90 catch guy and he was on his pace to have another monster season. But last year, 80 catches for 825 yards as a sophomore. He's a third year tight end. He went six for 67 two weeks ago, then he got hurt against the lions at three for 25 on six targets before he got hurt in that game, not having him huge because he is a more athletic version of Zach Earth's basically like a lot of their passing game goes through him. In junior on the outside is their explosive playmaker, but Trey McBride would have been their most targeted guy more weeks than not leading the team and catches, right? You sort of work inside out if those body blows, then you kind of get the more explosive stuff there on the outside. Harrison's gone 10 for a buck 98 through three games McBride through two and a half for the cause you mentioned he got hurt 14 for one 22 kind of working underneath this Marvin Harrison only have a hundred 98 yards. Yeah. Because remember week one, he didn't do much. I remember, but he had 130 of those in the first quarter of week two. So he has 68 yards in what is 11 other quarters of football. That's fascinating. Let's go to Patrick in Fredericksburg on Grant and Danny. What's up, Patrick? Hey, guys, the big thing for me, I think I just want to see how David Daniels responds to throwing an interception or doing a turnover here. I mean, I know it's kind of weird to say, but no, no, I just want to see him respond. And then the other part to that is, you know, I just am worried about Kyler Murray. I think he always plays well against us. And I don't know what his record is against us. I think he's two and no, but I always feel like he just has a great game against us and he's got solid weapons. And then last thing, you know, I think our field goal holder, you know, trust way, I think he's going to show up a little bit more. I don't know if we're going to be able to move the ball consistently, but what I just don't know if I have a good one about this game. I think we lose a close one, but you know, I just hope the coaching staff, no matter what, when we lose, we keep responding and we keep getting better every week so far. We've gotten better. I like that about being clean in this offense and the defense. I know the defense has some spots still, but I just hope the coaching staff still, you know, coaches up and doesn't do a Ron Rivera where it's just kind of like, Oh, well, we'll get him next time. And, you know, just feel like we're evolving. It's like we're on this treadmill type of thing. So I think we lose a close one, but either way, I'm hopeful for the rest of the season. Thanks guys. Patrick Kyler Murray's only played one game against the commanders. It was the football team back in 2020 was in the first month of that season. In fact, it was, you know, but the four games before they had benched Wayne Haskins, like right in that first month, he went 26 of 38 for 286, had a touchdown and a pick. And also was sacked three times in that game. They held him in check. Okay. But the Cardinals did win. So his only start against Washington came in a victory. That having been said, generally speaking over the years, maybe what he was thinking about is this team, this organization has not done a great job against running quarterbacks. They now have one of their own in Jaden Daniels, who gives team fits and petrifies you with the back breaking scramble, always on the table on a third down. And you always know Kyler Murray's got one or two of those in the second half on a big drive available to him up his sleeve, so to speak, my guess is both quarterbacks make a player to it their feet. That's going to prove pretty costly for the defense across from them in the second half the game. But without Austin Echler, maybe that is the answer from a running standpoint is more design stuff for Daniels doesn't mean you have to do the power carries between the tackles. I still say they shouldn't, but they had a couple of plays that on TV, I bet look like passes where he would bootleg and then keep the football and keep running. And when we're in the stadium, you can actually see it's a designed run because the receivers that are quote unquote running routes are just blocking immediately downfield. I think they should run a few of those where it's like the play action boot look, but it's almost like a naked keeper. So to speak, the sidelines, your friend there exactly and it gets them over to the short side of the field toward the sideline and it's just a way to steal for five, six yards here and there without Echler, I would plan on running that a bunch. I think this is a 10 carry game or more again for Jaden Daniels, probably to help take some of the heavy lifting off Robinson unless he's chewing them up. I just don't see that. I think that's the one thing the Cardinals can probably plan for is, hey, this same thing the Bengals did. The Bengals are terrible at stopping the run. Brian Robinson had nowhere to go. They just beefed everyone up in the middle. They dared Jaden Daniels to beat him outside the numbers. He did, by the way. Yeah. But that was their plan. Yes it was. I think the Cardinals should have a similar plan and go. You made a ridiculous throw, 55 yards downfield to Terry and another really good one to call game. Let's see if you could do it again. So I think there'll be some of that. I still think it'll be a lot of, let's look at the Tampa tape to watch that. Now I know the offense is evolving and there's more on Daniels's plate by design, but let's see how we respond to all these weird exotic looks and blitzes and things like that. Let's challenge the rookie that way, right? Through this past week, you know, when they brought the house, Jeremy Nichols pickup picks up one guy. Daniel's can't even follow through and through one of the great balls in, you know, team history to Jeremy Klorn for a teddy. So but that's what I would be doing if I'm Arizona because I'm going, we could take our chances a couple of times. Let's force a turnover. We don't think they can stop us. Let's go. We'll go. We'll get the shooting match with them. Dave Burns, who does radio in Arizona, helps us preview the game, scout the Cardinals a little more detail on what they like to do, what they're good at. Welcome back. Danny on the fan, we are getting your thoughts on this weekend's match up with the Arizona Cardinals. Give you our top five games of the week in the NFL coming up in just a moment as well. Let's hit the phones eight hundred six three six one oh six seven kebs in Arlington. What's up Kevin? Hey fellas, happy Friday. So I think we're in for another nail buyer, you know, if you look at our record, we're two and one, we could easily be oh and three and we get better every week. No hope I can say that at the defense, but I can certainly say that about the offense. Here's the thing, I went to the Cardinals game a year ago, we they have a very good defensive team. Murray is, you know, the kind of quarterback that he give us fits, he's going to want to show up and announcing Clippy, but I also think having Clippy helps our defense prepare for Murray. So I, when I did get concerned as to why we won't win potentially, it's because that awesome network losses is huge. And then the other aspect of it is I've got to see this one defense stop someone like James Carter. I haven't seen it and you know, we, until we do a world like you were saying earlier about it. It's wide open, but until we have some defensive sturdiness, we can't be the playoff team we want to be. Appreciate you, dude. Thank you, dude. For some reason, the Cardinals were awful at running the ball last week against the Lions. No, I went nine for 17, nine for 17 now one week before that he was 21 for a buck 20 in a touchdown and the week before that he was 16 for 50 in a touchdown. So he's had a game where he could do nothing 1.9 a pop. He's at a game that was 3.1 a pop, but he got 16 carries. They stayed ahead of the chains. And then he's at a game where he went ham. I don't think the Cardinals are a really good running team, but I think Connor is just a downhill, not messing around North and South, your typical kind of 29 year old thumping type running back that has given Washington some problems this season. If you just want to go right at them in the interior, go get your four and five yards. And if you do that and you're in second and manageable and third and short, all of a sudden Tyler Murray might be able to make some noise. I do worry about this defense. They've been bad. Yeah. And not only have they been bad, but as Kevin just said, they really haven't improved week one to week two to week three. It's been kind of the same story. This is the eighth worst defense via DVOA in the history of the stat. So there's really not a whole lot they can hang their hat on ideally against the two time pro bowler and Connor this week, they slow him down and then it's up to Kyler Murray trying to make plays happen without turning the ball over through the air vans in PG County on Grinton. Danny. What's up, then? Hi. Yes. Good afternoon. How are you today? I'm blessed. Thank you. Yes. Um, the best I can do is I can I can say 50 50 and I say that because I mean, if I want to be hopeful and for entertainment purposes, I would say, yeah, they're going to win. But if I'm a realist, I'm going to say I'm going to look at commander history and look at, you know, their DNA teams that they should blow out, you know, they, they find a way to lose teams that, you know, they should be, they find a way to win. So, you know, instead of looking at it from a week to week perspective, you know, if they want to win this week that way, I'm looking more, you know, in its entirety. My, my, my thing is I want him to improve as an organization and get better over time. Like, Jake Daniels, I have to admit, he scares me because I'm having RG three flashbacks. He likes to scramble. I'm more of a quarterback, run a little bit type of person, you know what I'm saying? Totally. So he does hear me in that aspect. Yeah. We got that. Appreciate you. Yeah. I like my quarterbacks in the pocket throwing the football, but his superpower is pretty obvious. Right? He makes his coordinator right. He steals yards. He keeps you ahead of the sticks. It is something that teams, it's not even like they like it or they admire it or they want it. They need now. He makes you right to get your bad looks and it's just, it's a cheat code. He steals yards from defenses with his feet. So a couple of things. The earlier point of the call though, it's the same until it's different and a week a month and a football was awesome. That's what that is though. So far, what do you do with prosperity? This is the ultimate hallmark of the Snyder and other kinds of teams in addition to investing investigations and alleged illegal activity and impropriety and all sorts of crap. But the other part was every time there was a big win, a step forward, something awesome, there would always be two, three, a thousand steps backward, the road pull, et cetera, right? We're riding high from Monday. That was an awesome win because it was because it was great. It was great theater. What would be more Washington than the letdown and we're trying to change all this stuff, right? New ownership, a general manager. That's like an actual general manager, but it takes time to put in enough deposits where people start to believe that this is actually a real thing. I also think and we'll talk more about this later in the show. Cliff Kingsbury coming from Arizona and having some intrinsic knowledge of their inner workings, whether it's Kyler Murray or members that offensive line, there are still plenty of players there. They didn't gut the thing like this group did when they took over for Rivera. Over a couple of years, it's a different roster, obviously with the draft and free agency, but he's got knowledge on a lot of the guys that are there that he can try to exploit defensively, that he can obviously give some intel to as far as his defensive coordinator in his own building, Joe Witt about Arizona's offense and things that Kyler Murray can do and handle and doesn't handle as well and isn't as good at overcoming. And so I think that that should be a bit of a built in advantage. More so say than Arizona's knowledge of Kingsbury, where you've got new players and you've made changes to your scheme and you're at USC last year. And I would think philosophically from the standpoint of some of your principles being the same, sure, but a lot of your tendencies may have changed since then we'll get the latest on the Cardinals will scout the opponent with Dave Burns coming up at the top of the hour. Dave Burns joins us now to get us up to speed on all things Arizona Cardinals as we get ready for Sunday's matchup. He's the coast of Burns and gamble on Arizona sports each day in the afternoon. Dave, thanks so much for the time. We appreciate you're on in DC on G&D. How are you? Grant, Danny, good to have good to be on with you. Thanks for having me on today. I appreciate it. I appreciate your time as well. So my read before the season, Dave was that this Cardinals team is going to be better than people thought they were going to be frisky and maybe win a few more games than people were anticipating through three weeks. I think I've kind of got that right. What was your read and then what have you seen? Exactly the same and exactly the same. I think our read was that they were going to be a little bit better. The question was in the margins, how much better is a little bit better? What's the ceiling? How high can they go? What are they capable of doing? But so far I got to tell you, I would hope our fan base is getting the point where they're a little evolved beyond, hey, good job and way to try hard and you kept it close and all that stuff. But there was, I think, a level of encouragement with how they played in the first half against Buffalo on the road, how they played in the second half against the Lions last week when they kind of buckled down and how they dominated a Rams team that granted they were all beat to hell with all the injuries and everything. But they punked LA and they never do that to the Rams and they certainly never do that to the Rams here. So I do think there is kind of a level of guarded, okay, they're better than we thought and that kind of plays with what we were hoping for this offseason. Now let's see if there's a next step to that and I think that's a big reason why this game this Sunday is such a big deal. Dave, when the commander's staff turn on the film, what they see in the way of, on both sides of the ball, offense, defense, strengths that they know that this is where the Cardinals are going to provide problems. It didn't show last week, but I think the strength will be in their running game and I think the strength will be in their use of 12 personnel and 13 personnel, their ability to run the ball out of that, their ability to throw the ball out of that. Now let's take a little bit of a hit because of Trey McBride being ruled out for this game, but I think they're going to see an offense that is really quite dynamic. Now again, it didn't show last week against the Lions, the Lions have all the better defenses in the NFL, but what Kyle Murray, this is not, this is not Sir Cliff Kingsbury, Kyle Murray, he's under center, he's running boots, he's making his progressions, he really has, maybe not all the way, but he's evolved and advanced. As a defense, what you're going to see is a really suspect, second secondary, you're going to see no real obvious pass rush, but it is improved from last year. There's no like one guy outside of maybe Dennis Gardec who makes you say, "Ooh, that's the guy right there." But there have been a lot of negative plays. They're a good baker, you know, after what, having what I think was a subpar year last year, I think he's been a terror so far this year, he's played like a guy with his hair on fire. So you see a defense that is, I would say, very average, which honestly given preseason prognostications is a little bit of a victory for the Cardinals. I think average is about the best case scenario you could have hoped for if you're a Cardinals fan. Dave Burns with us here on Grant and Danny, breaking down. There was one of Cardinals. Dave, you mentioned no-tray McBride. What does that do to the offense? Well, okay. So I mentioned 12 and 13 personnel, right, which is, you know, two tight ends or three tight ends. What made Trey McBride so great is that he's one of the best pass catching tight ends in the NFL. At least he's emerging into that role and his ability to be a pass catcher when you, you're putting a formation out there that just screams, "We're going to run the ball," and then you throw it, Trey McBride is a great weapon to have in that, especially with Marvin Harrison Jr. is out there, too, and commanding so much attention. Jonathan Gannon said today he 1,000 percent believes in the room without Trey McBride. That's going to put a lot of emphasis on Elijah Higgins to kind of step up into that role. I think this week, and I know the Commander's defense, obviously, not off to a great start. I think this week is going to be a real good test for the Cardinals' willingness to kind of stick to their identity, even though McBride, one of the key parts of that identity, is not available. I want to see if they stick to it, even though they're down him because he's just such an important part of that. David, seems to me like Kyler Murray was marvelous against the Rams, and then has been really average or a little less than that in the other two games. A, is that correct and just kind of give us a state of the Union on Murray in the passing game? I'll give you against the Lions, I think he was pretty average. I thought he was better against the Bills than he got credit for, than maybe the numbers would show for it. I think he was a victim of a few things out there that weren't exactly going his way. Ultimately, he's got to rise above, he's the quarterback. The Lions game was a step back, there's no doubt. It was a very meh game for him, and I think in large part because the Lions did such a great job taking away to run for the Cardinals, and without that, I mean, it's Batman without the suit. There's just not a whole lot there if the Cardinals aren't able to run the ball, and I think Kyler's not there yet in this offense, if they're not able to run the ball. I'll tell you, everything in the off season has been A+ for Kyler Murray, but we're not in the off season anymore, we're in the regular season. I think the fan base has been impressed by his willingness to work, his willingness to be the "first guy in, last guy out, kind of guy," and his willingness to embrace everything that this new offense has brought, but at the end of the day, it's got to be results. And so far, the results have been mixed, he certainly had his moments, but not enough of them. If there were a few more Kyler Murray moments in these first three games, they're easily two in one and not one in two, I just think there haven't been enough of those. It seems from watching the games, he's not running a whole lot. He prefers, and I like this, but to kind of live in the pocket at this point, or throw in the football, wherever it is, even if they move him around out of the pocket, how much of a factor are his feet at this point? It's still a factor. I think he's finally, I don't want to say learned, but I think he's finally, I guess learned to come to understand the value of hanging around and staying in the pocket and making his progressions and not taking off and running. It is still a valuable weapon. James Connor is kind of the thunder, and they don't really have a lightning kind of running back to kind of counter that physicality that Connor brings. So I still think that's Kyler Murray in spurts, but there's no doubt he's far more focused on keeping his eyes down the field, looking for a receiver to get open, doing his progressions, all that stuff. Through passing the offensive coordinator has done, I think, a really nice job of designing plays to roll Kyler out a little bit more, get him out of the pocket, get him a little bit better view downfield, because that's obviously going to be a challenge for a shorter quarterback. He'll still take off and they're all guaranteed the three, four, maybe even five moments where things break down and he takes off and everybody will be wowed by just how fast he is because he is just a blur, but he, the governor is on a little bit, he's not looking to do that as much. There's no doubt. Dave Burns Arizona sports with us. Breaking down the Cardinals here on Grant and Danny, Dave, I just have this theory about sports. I want to run by you and then ask you about Marvin Harrison specifically. I feel like somebody comes along and ruins it for everybody else, but in a good way like just like CJ Stroud last year. Now the expectations every rookie quarterback, if they're not that, they're not any good, right? Or we have to have them, somebody match that or exceed it in order for their season be valuable. Watching Malik neighbors get 10 trillion targets and all of the offense basically for the Giants and you go, Oh, Marvin Harrison Jr, you know, pretty good. But it's like we view it as disappointing. We shouldn't. But I wonder what the feeling is about him there so far and with all, you know, how heralded he was coming in. I wish you could see me because I've got this smile ear to ear because we had this exact same conversation on our show guest. I mean, exactly. And this was before Malik neighbors did what he did last night. It's exactly like, like we looked at, we looked at neighbors numbers and we compared them side by side with Marvin Harrison's numbers and not the numbers, but where they rank in the NFL and nobody, I mean, I don't want to say nobody, I just about nobody in the fan base is going, Oh, my God, the Cardinals took the wrong guy. Oh, this is terrible. What an embarrassment. But we are so quick to do that with the quarterback conversation, aren't we, right? Like we're so quick to say, Oh, this team screwed it up. All that team screwed it up. There's very little of that going on right now. I think the one element of consternation when it comes to Marvin Harrison Jr, he has been targeted a lot and he's only catching about 50 percent of the balls that are targeted his ways. Most of that appears to be on him. There had been a couple of bad throws. That is something they're working on. I know a buddy of mine who writes for the Cardinals website pointed out that Larry Fitzgerald's target completion percentage his rookie year was like 50 percent. So no one's worried about it. Everybody knows it's a work in progress. I don't think I don't think there's a soul in this valley who thinks the Cardinals got the wrong guy or picked the wrong guy because of three or four games so far in the NFL. But that is funny because, like I say, in the quarterback competition or the quarterback conversation, boy, we're quick to make that judgment, aren't we? He is 130 yards in one quarter and then 68 yards in the other 11 quarters. That's just crazy. You know, what is it beginning in the Rams game? It's crazy and it is not, I'm telling you guys, it is not from a lack of trying. Okay, maybe it was the lack of trying in game one against the Bills. They did hardly look his way and I think he was nervous. He was running slow and nobody was. Don't worry. He'll be wide open. He'll get some great looks this weekend day. This is his coming out party. I'm sure Monday. I'm telling you it'll be free. Whatever you want on handle, it'll work out. The over. I'll be sure to pass that along to the guys. That's good. It'll be over. Marvin Harrison Jr. receiving yards. Take the over check. Okay. Secondaries is porous is a spaghetti. Don't be so comfortable. It'll be a remote control. His feet will be up. A soda. I think I'm trying to put together a line for you. Good. I'm not trying not to be unrealistic. Yeah. Do it. Do it for don't like mess around with Dave. Yeah, I'm not trying to be. Do it for real. This is what I would tell your audience. Seventeen catches for 329 yards and four touchdowns. And it's reasonable expectation. Right. I don't want to hot take it or shock it. Yeah, like the new record belongs to Marvin Harrison. Like I would. That's where I was at it. Okay. That seems like a very nuanced balance perspective guys and I appreciate you being so level-headed about it. Yeah. That's what we're trying to do here on the Grant and Danny radio program. Stick aside. Can you buy his jersey out there yet? Is that still a thing? No. That's still a thing. Can't do it. Can't do it. I mean, are fanzics like overall, are they very high on the guy or like that would annoy me to no end if he came in here? He does. They're high on the guy and they're annoyed to no end about it. They're probably more annoyed about that than they are about how many catches and how many targets and how many yards and what he hasn't done yet on the field. I'd be willing to bet they're actually more annoyed about not being able to buy the catch jersey because they haven't from day one. I mean, he's we were making arguments that he's the most popular player of the Cardinals have drafted since Matt liner now, you know, they didn't work out real well, but Matt liner was a real popular pick at the time. And that he almost instantly became one of the most popular athletes in the Valley right now. And you know, those Valley with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker and Kylo Murray and Corbin Carroll and Diana Tarazzi and a whole bunch of stars and he just shot right up the list. Everybody loves this dude and they hate the fact that can't buy a shirt. Yeah, it's very weird. What about 10,000 foot view? What do you guys think this team is? Is this a wild card caliber team or right now this moment to me that the line I know Washington is not that good. But coming off Monday night football, I kind of thought it'd be closer to a pick them type game. What are the Cardinals? I think the Cardinals are a team that in December will be playing meaningful football games to determine whether they can be a playoff chain. Is that is that a cop out answer? Is that good enough? I think I think that's what we think they are. It's a nice step forward year based. Yeah. No question. No question. I mean, coming off of, you know, back to back seasons where, you know, the disaster with Cliff two years ago, last year winning four games when Colin was hurt the whole time or almost the whole time. Yeah, absolutely. A step point. In fact, I think the front office is kind of looking at it that way like, okay, we could have invested some resources into this year. We could have gone out and gotten a pass rusher. Maybe we could have made a play for Hassan retic if he was available or somebody along those lines. If he didn't, we're saving it for next year because we think next year is the year where it all comes together and we're ready to compete. So I think the realistic goal is on December 1st, the Cardinals are still in it and they're still playing meaningful football games to determine whether they're a playoff team. I think from the 10,000 foot view, that's what we're looking at. Dave, I went to a small private high school in DC and we had a sister school right across the street. And I remember once being in our little local Mexican restaurant, I went to all the time and everybody at the table, boys and girls, had all dated each other at one point. And I remember they could like, this is a little bit awkward. This is a little bit weird. And I wonder how similar that's going to be to Cliff Kingsbury coming back to Arizona where he still has a house. How do you guys feel about Cliff? How did you feel at the start? How did you feel in the middle? And then kind of how do you feel now? Here's how I think we feel about Cliff. I don't think anybody really holds anything against Cliff badly. I mean, I think, and I say that, the last year Cliff was just a disaster. I mean, it was just an organization cratering, completely bottoming out, and Cliff is complicit in that. That was partially Cliff and just kind of his lack of being a CEO type. But man, there were so many things, so many things wrong with this organization internally in terms of their structure, their GM, everything that they just kind of bottomed out then. I think the good of Cliff was he took over a three-win football team and the next year they won five, and the next year they won eight, the next year they won 11. But starting with that playoff loss to the Rams in which they were absolutely, completely, totally unprepared to play that football game, it was a rapid descent into pure vitriol for Cliff Kingsbury and that Cardinals team. Tyler played horribly, that he got hurt the next season, coaches were getting fired, general managers were making bad decisions. Cliff in the middle that had absolutely no answers and worse of all, Cliff just absolutely seemed to lack the ability to adapt to his environment and to adapt when things started changing in terms of how teams were preparing for him and what he was doing and flexing his game plan a little bit. And I think at the end what confused Cardinal fans more than anything was how could ownership give Cliff Kingsbury the contract extension when they did. That was the one thing, it was like weeks after they lost to the Rams in that playoff game and that was the thing to piss everybody off. Just now, you're going to extend this contract as you know you're just going to fire them in a year or two and that's the thing and that was more on them than it was on him, I think. That was more on ownership and management than it was on Cliff for getting that contract extension. Nobody could understand how we got it in the first place. Burns and Gambo, Dave Burns, Grant and Danny here on the fan. We appreciate the insight and thank you much for taking us over to the Cardinal side of the equation. You're getting us some intel. My pleasure guys. I'm going to pass along your gambling tips today from two to six on our show. You do that. Flipper Anderson's record is in jeopardy. By the way, I think I've moved the line just slightly. I was being crazy earlier. I'm up to 396 yards now. I'll take you over then. Thank you, Dave on Grant and Danny here on the fan. He mentioned Malik neighbors and the Marvin Harrison Jr part of the conversation we were having right now this moment. The two most likely rookie of the year candidates would be Daniels and Malik neighbors and it's way too early to look at this, but Harrison has fallen way behind neighbors and Williams has fallen way behind Daniels early on there were the two quarterbacks, the two receivers and the thought was maybe Williams was taken before Daniels. So he was more likely to be the guy and Harrison was taken before neighbors, but it's actually the two LSU guys that were taking second at their position that have kind of climbed to the top here. How about some of these numbers after last night, Danny from Malik neighbors? He was targeted 15 times for the Giants on Thursday night football last night. He was targeted 16 here two weeks ago, by the way. He has 35 catches through four games second most ever for a rookie in his first four games behind last year when Puka Nakua caught 39 if you remember in his first four games. He's got two 10 catch 100 yard games already weeks to and week four. The only rookie ever who has had more than two 10 catch 100 yard games in a season is Odell Beckham Jr. also out of LSU also to the Giants and that was in 2014. He did it four times. Neighbors is already halfway there, not even at the quarter pole of the season. By the way, I looked this up, Terry McClorn in his NFL career now closing in on 90 games. I think it is Terry has done it twice in his whole career. Neighbors has done it twice in a month. Neighbors is on pace for 148 catches. The record for a season is 149. He's on pace for 1600 40 yards. That's only been done 20 times ever. He's on pace for 12 touchdowns. The good news for Daniels again, it's all very early. He obviously had his massive game on prime time, which is really going to help him too. But last year, remember, Puka had this crazy year nobody's ever had before as a rookie. He went for 105 catches, 1400 85 yards and six touchdowns and he still didn't win the award. Yeah. Because CJ Strout's cool. CJ Strout had a good year. But by the standards of like, what is great quarterbacking, he had 4,100 yards and 23 touchdowns. Ho-hum. Like, you know what I mean? Yeah, of course. Like, rookies don't do that. And I'm not trying to belittle his season. It was miraculous. And he's already one of the great quarterbacks in the league. But Puka Nakua, take the rookie label off, had one of the great receiving seasons we've seen in a long, long time, a much more elite season at his position than say CJ Strout did. But Strout was the number two pick. He played at Ohio State. Everybody knew him on draft night. He's a big star. The team won the division. So I guess the point is, Jaden Daniels just has to be good. And then it almost doesn't matter what Malik neighbors does. That's what we learned last year. Yeah. So, and also context matters too. And here's what I mean by that. Houston was the laughingstock. They were the Carolina Panthers before the Carolina Panthers. That was an organization that couldn't get out of their own way. It was nothing but dramatics and disaster. And no one thinks of them that way anymore because they have CJ Strout. Whereas Nakua went to a pretty established group that's, you know, went healthy nine or 10, 11 wins, not too far removed from a couple of Super Bowl appearances and a win. It's sort of seen, okay, if you're a receiver in McVay's offense, you'll get some looks. Now he should, he very easily has a great case, by the way, probably should have won it. And if we're putting all things equal, but the quarterback position obviously gets so much more of a premium. You look at Heisman Trophy finalists over the years used to be a great mix of people. And now it's, you know, the top four quarterbacks and maybe like one linebacker from somewhere because he is good on Twitter. But that's pretty much it. If you're a quarterback that helps turn around a more about franchise with good enough numbers above the threshold, you've got a great chance at winning it. Good news for Jaden Daniels. Very good news. Potentially. Next on GND, I keep saying this is one of the best Sunday slates that we've seen. Let's get into some of the best games of the weekend and put our money where our mouth is there and actually show you why this weekend is going to be so good in the NFL. We'll go through the games next. You're listening to Grant and Danny. Plug in a Hyundai EV and the extraordinary happens. Here's your best five games of the slate as far as I can see and we'll look at some of the other matchups on the other end. This was actually tough to rank though. There's some really good games around the National Football League. I think the best game, most interesting game as far as storylines go is Minnesota Green Bay. The Vikings are three and oh, they just throttled the Texans. Now they're playing the Packers, one of the two teams in the NFC North that was expected to finish better than Minnesota. If the Packers get Jordan Loveback, I think this is actually going to be a pretty telling game. If they don't and it's Malik Willis again, well then Minnesota may well win and therefore no and you can kind of explain it away. But I still think the Vikings are starting to turn heads more than just they did early in the season when it was a cute story to the point where people are now going, all right, Kevin O'Connell, coach of the year, Sam Darnold, one of the best stories in the early part of the season. Who knows? He keeps playing like this all year. Maybe he's looking at a franchise tag. What do you do with him? What do you do with J.J. McCarthy? And what's going to happen in this division? The flip side is the Packers have won twice without love. Matt Fleur's done an incredible job. If they're to get love back and get a win, now you're three and one. You're even with Minnesota and they're in a really good spot moving forward to start hitting their stride and climb North in the North. So I think this is just a revealing game and I'm really excited to watch. That's a huge game. Opened up is Packers four and a half point favorites. That's now moved to three, two and a half depends on your book. This is a huge one because the Green Bay can survive this stretch with or without Jordan love at 100%. I'm not sure if he plays this weekend or not, if he, if he does, I don't know how close to 100% is going to be, but for Minnesota, you know, stacking the hay right at this stage, right? They're doing things that people didn't think they would do and their schedule was really hard out of the gate and it gets, it's often up as the season goes. But if they end up for no, you got to change your eye line for them a little bit. You already do. You already have to kind of put some respect on their name in terms of what they've done defensively. Certainly. And Kevin O'Connell, as you said, early leader for coach of the year, taking everyone else's leftovers many times over in Sam Donald and fit them to your scheme and system and getting pretty good production. Pretty amazing. Just another of the great offensive minds who came through this Washington building. The bills are three and oh, they travel to Baltimore up 95 to take on the Ravens. Baltimore lost their first two games and then got their season back on track with a win against the Dallas Cowboys. They're now one in two, they've got more to play for frankly, more on the line than the bills do. Goes without reason, reasoning that you know, one in three, you're in big, big trouble from a playoff standpoint. So that hunger makes me lean toward Baltimore, but the bills have actually been exceptional. Josh Allen's playing the best football of any quarterback in the league. He's got seven touchdowns, no interceptions and they're doing it without their receivers of a year ago. It's kind of a very diversified offensive attack. He's playing point guard. He's running a little more than he did. They're running the football a little better than they have traditionally. I like the way the bills are playing. Bills Ravens is going to be fun. Bills have been terrific through three games, a 64 point point differential, the best in the AFC certainly through three weeks and among the best in the NFL. They have been fantastic on both sides of the football. I thought they would not be. I thought they got older, a little bit more attrition in terms of injury. I thought they were worse in terms of playmaking and you know what it doesn't matter when Josh Allen goes, and that's what's happening is the MVP through three weeks and change now that we've gotten week four started officially. The Ravens really put themselves in a bad spot by losing in week two, giving up a lead in the fourth quarter to the stupid Raiders. They played even pretty evenly with the AFC defending and Super Bowl champs Kansas City Chiefs were a toenail away from being tied going in overtime, maybe winning it with a two point conversion, but that's a bad loss in week two. So now you because you're at such a premium where you have to harvest some of these nuts here to get yourself back into a playoff picture, they are more desperate than Buffalo, I think to your point. Yeah, they almost have to be Buffalo just to make up for the Ravens game. Essentially, the Seahawks and Lions have played two of the more entertaining football games in the entire league the last two years, scores where both teams are in the forties, just really great back and forth shoot outs. And the NFL saw that and said, we're going to put them on Monday night. Yeah, it's like a big 12 game Seahawks at the Lions. Seattle's three and over. They haven't really played anybody. They'd be Denver by six points in week one. They survived the Patriots overtime field goal win and then they just completely bullied the dolphins in week three, but there was no two, a 21 point deficit for Miami in that game. So now they really get tested and we're going to find out if Seattle is any good against the Detroit Lions. Meanwhile, Detroit is two in one. They lost that game. They want back to the Buccaneers or they outplayed, but golf had a clunker. I actually didn't think Jared golf was great against the Cardinals either. So they need him to get back to playing like he did really frankly over the last two whole years to try to advance to three and one, going into their bi-week post Seattle. Yeah, Detroit, it's, it's been strange for them because you would take every metric possible that they put up in the week, the week to loss against Tampa Bay. But again, they lost to Tampa Bay, 463 total yards, every, everything said that they were going to win that game. Then of course they didn't. And you know, they were fine against Arizona, but again, couldn't really punch the ball in enough and had some, some self-sapotage and some things. They haven't played their best yet, but they're still, I think pretty well regarded and rightfully so as one of the best teams in the NFC and kind of a challenge to San Francisco, whoever happens to else be up there at the top. But these games with Seattle, you stole the words right out of my mouth, have been unbelievably entertaining over the last couple of seasons. So normally you'd go at three of these two teams Seattle, Detroit, it's all my lister games of the week. That one circled because that has been perfect theater the last couple of years. It's been one of those one o'clock games that's available in a couple of markets, but it's a red zone fest. Yeah. You know, it's just Scott Hanson talks about that game like 84% of the time it's on that one. And they're back in the red zone again. So the NFL wised up and said, all right, let's show it to everybody. Let's do it. I'm time. So that's my number three game of the week. So you got Vikings Packers one, Bills, Ravens two, Seahawks, Lions three, we're gonna go back to the NFC here NFC heavy because the games in that conference are just great this weekend. It's Falcons is my number four game. This is going to be an important game in the NFC South New Orleans is two in one. They lost the game. They probably shouldn't have to Philadelphia this past week. They could easily be sitting at three and oh, they've been awesome offensively going into that third game against Philly and they crash back down to earth. They were Washington before Washington. They were the team not punting. They scored on every single one of their drives for the first two games of the season. Think about that. Not having been said, they got a tough customer perhaps in Atlanta at home. The Falcons played with almost could have should have would have beat the Chiefs this past week. Wrong end of a bad call or else maybe they would have, but the Falcons are one in two and they don't really have margin for error this week. The good news for Atlanta, I guess, is both of their losses have been AFC teams. So as you go forward this year, if you're tiebreaker friendly, the season's gone about how you would design it with a one in two record. They beat the Eagles in the conference, they lost to the Steelers and the Chiefs, but they've got three consecutive division games coming up. New Orleans, Tampa, Carolina, with the next two at home, they really could benefit immensely from beating New Orleans and Tampa. That would get them to three and two, three and oh in the conference, two and oh in the division going into a game with Carolina, but it starts with a Saints team that's probably better on paper and yet still an underdog via the sports book. Yeah, this one's wild. So it's one of those things where when you get off to that start that the Saints did, right, the third or fourth most points in history through two weeks and then you come back down to earth and if you lose in week four, everyone's like, yeah, I knew it was a joke. I knew it was fraudulent. I knew those guys weren't that good and this is just, you know, a weird early season hiccup. It doesn't matter, but if you win and you look pretty good doing it, I'm not saying you've got to score 45 points, so that'd be pretty sweet. But if you win this game, you're three in one in command. You probably should be foreign out kind of to your point and the only fluke then is the weird loss to Philadelphia where two of you guys ran into each other and now you're in charge of that weird NFC South from Atlanta's perspective, kind of same deal, right? You need some validation. You need some a few things after that weird week one performance where cousins didn't look at his part. Next thing you know, you could be right up at the top of this again, herky jerky bizarre division with Tampa having a tough opponent as well. Speaking of Philly, the Eagles cracked the list here. The Eagles in the box in Tampa game number five. So four of these five games are NFC only games, but Philly and Tampa has a chance to be really good. Two and one Eagles leading the NFC East, two and one Tampa leading the NFC South, right? A Philly coming off of a impressive win where they bald out defensively, as you've said, against the Saints. I still don't think they're that good and they're not quite healthy, so they're right for the taking for Tampa Bay. But the bucks were horrible last weekend. That right bad. They looked great against Washington, dominated them. They looked really good against the Troy got outplayed and stole a win. And then they got beat by 19 by the bone next led Denver Broncos 26 seven. That game, by the way, was at home where they're home again against the Eagles. I actually liked them to beat Philly. I love when Pete teams are at home two straight weeks. I also hate when teams are on the road, two straight weeks, Philly second straight game away from home, whereas the bucks are at Raymond James for the second time in as many Sundays. So I think the bucks win this game against Philly and get to three and one. They've owned Philadelphia of late. I can't point to all the numbers, but it just they've that playoff drubbing from a couple seasons ago as Philadelphia was swooning down the stretch. I was last. I mean, last year, but this is a again, an important game for Tampa because they've played worse each week. They probably didn't deserve to beat Detroit in week number two. They did don't take it away from them, but their worst game of the year is their most recent game. So this, you know, they're puffing up their chest a little bit. The first couple of weeks telling everybody, see nobody respect the snow and believed in us. Well, you could also be two and two here through, through four games for Philadelphia. Again, they're probably thinking we're getting by right now without a J Brown, without, uh, Dante Smith, without Lane Johnson, without a couple other bodies. If we could somehow be a group that's given us some fits over the years, we'll be three and one through a tough stretch and be feeling pretty good about ourselves. That is a good weekend slate in the NFL. That's just the five best games. I mean, there's some other really interchargers, chiefs, the big one, interesting match ups. Yeah. I think the chiefs are going to roll. You think that's going to be a good game? I think it's, there's intrigue because the charges basically remade themselves to try to compete with the chiefs. It's Justin Herbert. Healthy. I don't think so. Well, then what are we talking about? 9,000 runs and punts and a weird, low scoring game. I mean, Justin Herbert can play in his healthy that I'm in on that game, but if that's the Easton stick Taylor Heineke fest, how much of a chiefs whooping are they going to take? That's a 15 18 point game, maybe. Danny, let's went off the field next, pal. Together. Let's do it. Of course I do. Good. Next, we're going to figure out what's gone right in your day to put a smile on your face. 800 6361067, don't do it for me. Don't do it for Danny. Don't even think about doing it for either of us. You're doing it for Bruce Allen on GND. And then what? Ah, but of course, it's time to figure out how you're winning off the field on great and Danny in lieu of our daily double play, driven by your local Washington area, Honda dealers, stopping for a great deal on the rugged and capable Honda pilot, contact your local Washington area, Honda dealers today. This is a mini moral victory that nobody else would care about. I can give you an example. You're looking for an example. I can give you one. You guys want one? Here's what happened to me. I don't know how this happened or why GP, but starting, you know, that's the boys starting around either Tuesday, maybe Wednesday. I've been thinking about cheesesteaks. What? Again, why? I feel blue. It's not like I saw some sort of subliminal marketing or something, but I was remembering fondly back in the day, called right around the turn of the millennium, 2000, 2001, the Philadelphia cheesesteak factory based in Georgetown, not far from the corner of Wisconsin and Mm. I put probably 7,000 cheesesteaks down in the summer of 2001, paying their rent for years at a time. Just going in there and ordering. I'd order a Western, I'd order a regular one. Sometimes I would get the helping your poppers to wash it down. Point is I'd love that place. I'd throw it all the time and got really, really fat, but I'm thinking about cheesesteaks a lot lately. So I put it out on the old Elon app last night. Give me some DC cheesesteak recommendations and the people came through with flying colors. There are a couple that I'm going to try. I'm excited to do so, but I will tell you, I tried today a little place called Gratzy Gratzy right there on the wharf, the lieutenant wharf on my way right here to the radio station. I picked it up and I ate it and it was delicious. Therefore I am winning off the field. I'm not going to give I'm not going to give any more details here than are needed, but I did not get lunch with Daris and Toby. Therefore I am winning off the field. They decided to get lunch together. I elected not to I walked in and see what they've gotten from home. I didn't take part in that lunch. Therefore I am winning off the field. Can they still eat it with all the shrapnel that's in there now? I think they can't. I think Toby's already pummeled here. Is Daris willing to know that my lunch is to your own. Don't yuck them. Hey, you guys have fun over there. You enjoy yourselves. Let's go to Dan who's in Fairfax on GND. What's up, Dan? Hey, boys. Normally I'm getting out a little after four o'clock and catching the blitz, but today my boss looked at me and said why don't you go home with you this early and I get to just pay it in this segment. So I'm, you know, winning off the field. I do, sir. You are. You are. We are very well up to speed on exactly what's happening. That's a nice little thing when the boss comes over and says, you know, you've had a good week, Peter. Head on out of here early. Well, just get down. Have a good weekend. Head on home and see the kids. I'll call Grant and Danny. Oh, my way home. It's got a rich and only on GND. Oh, Richard. What's going on, boys? How you doing? How about it? Doing great. So my wife invited me out to Bethesda for a big wig of bosses hanging out in the stuff. Thank you, Derek. I managed to talk myself out of that and I'm going bowling with the boys tonight. Therefore, I am winning off the field. Bowling. Every time I see a bowling alley, I'm like, why don't I go bowling way more often? It's fun. Every time. Really? Bowling is so fun. I don't think I've ever thought that. I love bowling. I see big Lebowski every once in a while. I drive by bowling. I was like, why don't I just go bowling? I have not had any urge to go bowling in many, many years. Dude, we went bowling as a show. We did. It was so fun. It was a great time. It's just not something like when I go golfing, I do that. If I go play around the golf, I go, I should play golf again soon. When I go to a movie, I go, why don't I do this every single night? Mm-hmm. I go bowling. I go. That was fun. Yeah, I went bowling. Dude, it's because it's not seven hours like golf. It's like you go and you bowl a couple of frames, you knock down some fried food and you get out of there. You don't have to worry your own shoes today, actually. I do. I have a good one. The boss told me when I got here, he's like, hey, I owe you lunch still. I said, why do you owe me lunch? He said, a couple of weeks ago, you pick, you got my lunch. We went over. I think it was like Shake Shack or something. Okay. I said, oh, it's fine. Don't worry about it. He's like, no, I'll get your lunch. What do you want? What are you getting? He said, Kava. I said, great. You look great. I invented that. I did invent it. And I got a Kava bowl and I didn't pay for it. Therefore, I am winning off the field. He's going to Sean and rest and hello, Sean. What's going on? How are you doing? Good, buddy. You know, one of those days where you're like, you know, your significant other wakes up just in a bad mood, do everything you can. I'm trying to get her happy. No, I don't know that at all. I love you so much, sweetheart, if you're watching on YouTube, go ahead. Right. You don't know where, you know, you get called in to go to work and now I get hurt some time to cool off. I get to go make some money. So, you know, therefore I'm winning off the field quicker on the uptake, Bruce, right? Yeah. It's Bruce. It's slow day for Bruce to struggle for Bruce over there. That's number one. Number two, to be clear, let me be. Did he just say he's winning off the field because he's leaving his angry girlfriend for a little while to go to work? He's leaving his irritated wife. I think that's why Bruce was a little hesitant because you're going to work, which means that might be a little bit of an on-field win. No, no, no. Yeah. He's got a, he said significant other, I think, so I don't know how to phrase it. You know, sir, we're mislabeling. We just have to, we just cause to fight that way. Now she's going to, he'll get home. She's like, the guys on the radio said I was your fiance, but you won't pop the question you bastard. But here's the point. That guy called in and said, I live with a girl. Who was in such a terrible mood. She was so awful to be around that I got to go to work to a job I don't like. Yeah. And just to be away from her front level of ours, therefore I am. Like, I mean, really, that was out of boy. That's a good one. Josh, an upper moral borough. Hi, Josh. Hey, so my winning off the field is the fact that you just asked about cheesecks. I am a certified fat kid in both name and practice. And just I'm sorry to derail the segment, but I don't speak to this very, very, very briefly. So I have vetted every cheesesteak in the Mid-Atlantic region, spending lots of time in both Philadelphia and Bucks County and the suburbs. And then certainly in my home area of when I hear Bucks County, I think of like John King on election night, like pointing it on that and you should also think of Cooper shark delicately melted over sliced beef because that's a really important part of Bucks County as well. So I've vetted this every cheesesteak place in this area. Gracie Gracie is number two. So you're on to something there. Yes. There are only three places that have actual Cooper shark. Every cheesesteak that's worth its salt needs to have Cooper shark. What is Cooper shark? It's Cooper cup shark. Yes. It is. It's a, it's a, it's a delightful, perfectly sharp, but not too sharp, melted cheese that goes on a good cheesesteak. Gracie Gracie is number two, the Coa cheesesteak in college park is by far number one. It's the best in the area, best in the region. I'm Josh from upper Marbrough college park is not close to me. I drive an hour to go to the Coa cheesesteak in college park. I don't work for them, but I want you to know that. So, so Josh, I've heard it's that I got to Coa a lot. I got Soco's or Soco in Tacoma park and Al and Alexandria was the other one I got. Can you speak to any of those? So Soco's and Al's are both good. They're a little nontraditional. You can get some, you know, some green and red peppers, which doesn't actually go in a real cheesesteak. And the rolls are not quite as good to Coa brings their rolls in from Philly, I believe, or someplace that has delightfully soft yet, you know, chewy enough rolls. And so it's a matter of, those are good cheesesteaks, but they have stuff that's not normally in a cheesesteak like green peppers and red peppers and so forth. If you want a traditional Philly with the Cooper sharp with a little bit of onions with a nice chewy roll, seeded roll, you're going to go to to Coa to Coa. So remember when we had that guy on who was the president of hot dogs? Yeah. He was just like the master of all things hot dog. I think Josh should be that for cheesesteak. Do you want to be the cheesesteak advocate? What happened? I would like to be the cheesesteak guy. This is a kind of a dream come true. I'm tearing up a little bit right now. You're a special cheesesteak guy. How did you become so obsessed with the cheesesteak? So was this just like your own thing or did you pass your project? Was it a job at some point? I mean, it's something about a, you know, a 42 to 44 inch waistband and, you know, a desire and three kids that send me to food to drown my sorrows and cheese. I don't know. I just like cheesesteak. My God, I get steamed up for Josh. I love it. He just gave us an idea. Everyone should have to announce the size of their jeans when they call it. It just puts a face with the name, you know, puts a body with a collar. He's like, you know, Hey, this is Tim over in the plate of 44 28, you're like, Oh, short portly guy. Okay. Then someone's like a 32, 36. They're like a tall skinny donk, you know, we got to go. You're a nice small boy. When you call in, just give us your gene size. That's all we're asking for. It's not overly. We're not overbearing. No. We're not getting too much detail, right? Beltway Blitz is next on Grant and Danny. Okay. Thanks. Bye. a lot. a lot. a lot of people. a lot of people. I'm not even sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure what's going on. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm not sure what's going on with that. Washington's football team has a bright future. It's time for you to plan for your future as well. Jacob Young is the good guy and Kyle Finnegan is the pitcher of the year. What do you think? Well, I mean, I think there were some obviously some interesting decisions there to make. I think the pitcher of the year was, you know, what do you favor? Finnegan did save over half their wins, 38 of 69. I think Jake Irvin has the compelling case. He's been in the top five in the National League much of the year and innings pitched. There's some value there. So, you know, it's good to have choices. And, you know, I think it speaks to to hopefully, you know, it's better to have, you know, two good choices than, oh boy, who do I check the box for? But the player of the year, I mean, it's a shame that James Wood wasn't up here all season. I think it's tough to vote for a guy for player of the year for the player of the half year. You know, it certainly looked like it was going to be CJ Abrams, but he tailed off in the second half. Garcia, you know, for his credit, I mean, he came into this season kind of fighting for a spot. I mean, it seemed like the Nationals were trying to replace him spring training. He held off the trade lipstick in charge in March and, you know, had for him a career offensive season. But more importantly than that, he's been more consistent defensively. So, is he an all-star caliber player yet? No, but he's definitely made tremendous strides over this year. And the key for him is can he build on this going forward, not just kind of rest on the laurels of a good season and have a better season next year? Speaking of better seasons, I thought one was really in store for Cabarouis this year, Jags. After hitting 260 with 18 bolts last year, and I know he got beat up a little bit by some of the metrics defensively, but it just felt like he was kind of steadily improving in that regard to me. Just feels like it was never right for him at the dish. Never made me really comfortable. Never really got going. And then there were moments like last night, I was trying to remember which royal it was, but that delayed steal, just kind of catching him napping. He was catching the ball very nonchalant and great play by the Royals player to execute that perfectly done, delayed steal shades of, you know, tray ternary and Desmond doing it to other people, but not a great year for Ruiz and what should have been kind of entering his prime mid-20s. Yeah, I mean, obviously careers are linear, Danny. You know, guys improve and guys go down. I mean, you know, the Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez has had it down year after a big year last year, but this is a key off season. You know, obviously he's got the contract. He's entrenched at the position. You know, now, you know, go out there and improve. And I think, you know, for him at the plate, there's just got to be, we talked about this with Garcia, and I think he did a good job of this. There's got to be better swing decisions. Ruiz has the incredible ability to hit pitches in the other batter's box and pitches that are going to hit him in the leg, but that's not always a good thing. Now, those are pitches you shouldn't be trying to hit, and he has to improve his plate discipline. If it's 5%, 10%, swing it better pitches, and his chase rate on 3-2 counts this year has been over 80%. At some point, you know, don't be afraid to get called out on strikes. And then pitchers know, hey, we don't have to throw him a strike to get him out. So there's definitely improvements that need to be made. But as you say, last year, you know, prove that there's good things there. He does have power. He should be, you know, a 20-25 homer year guy. And then, you know, defensively, I think probably the framing has been a little better. I mean, the pop times and the one knee catching, I think, has taken a little away from his throws. So hopefully maybe some arm strengthening this year to be a little more competitive on stolen base attempts. It definitely, you know, this is a big off season for him to improve in all areas. Jags, one area where they made major strides this year was in the starting rotation. Last year, the ERA collectively was over 5 this year. It was sub 4-1/2. And they got a lot of durability out of their arms. Irvin made 32 starts. Corbin as well. Gore's going to make his 32nd tonight. Mitchell Parker, 29 starts. They really didn't have to use all that many starters as well. I felt like that should be viewed as a major win for them. Yeah, it has to be. I mean, they've cut the homerun rate. They've cut the walk rate. And that was the message. You've got to get out in the strike zone. That was delivered in spring training. And, you know, a lot was mentioned about, you know, Corbin and his last star yesterday, how he sets the tone of, you've got to post. It doesn't matter if you have a good starter or a bad start. You've got to post every fifth day. And, you know, Gore's been right, you know, right under his wing. His time here. And I think Parker has taken that with his 29 starts. So do they need some fortification? Sure. I mean, you're going to lose 180 innings in Patrick Corbin. So how do you replace that knowing that Josiah Gray is not going to be available for much, if not all of next season? Cade Cavalli has missed two years now. And even though he's feeling good now, how much do you count on for him next year? Hopefully maybe some fortification outside of the organization to help what has been a huge win this year. Because DJ Hers and Mitchell Parker, they weren't on the radar to be as big contributors as they've been this season. So that has been an organizational win. Gore finishing strong is positive and Jake Urban being kind of the leader of the staff. So that's a good place to start. Now you hope those guys get better and you hope they can fill in around them. Jags, thank you. It was always forever. Great weekend. I will. I'll miss you guys. I'm sure you'll be ringing my phone around April 1st. We better talk to you before. Yeah, we're going to buy the before then. Wow. You guys lose my number for six months. It's a season of silence. You hit that you hit that do not answer on that golf course, Jags. We know you. Be who? What? Thank you, buddy. All right, guys. Talk to you. See you, pal. Get that NFL sounder, Dares. Our body rotor world, Zach Kruger joins us to talk about the NFL. Zach, I want to start Tampa Bay, Philadelphia. Tampa Bay recently has had Phillies. Number Phillies depleted with some injuries to some skilled guys. How do you see this one going and how important is it for each team? Well, guys, happy to be on with you all again after a couple of weeks away. I got some some new fatherhood duties I found, but happy to be back and try to test this game with you guys. First up, Eagles, like you mentioned, a lot of problems going on here with the Eagles. Why receiver group just before I came on here. AJ Brown, assistant listed as questionable after missing weeks two and three with a hamstring injury. He also did in practice on Wednesday or Thursday. He's not going to limit session on Friday, so we'll see how things go there. But Brown being available is going to be huge for the Eagles in this one, because Ivanka Smith has also been rolled out with the concussion that he suffered in week three against the Saints. So if neither of those guys can go, it's going to be potentially a big Dallas Goddard day, which we saw last week against the Saints. 10 catches for a ridiculous 170 yards on 11 targets. It's certainly one of the monitor here. Obviously a big game for the Eagles who just haven't quite hit their stride like some are hoping that they will. This is something that also had a lot of trouble heading into the season. So we'll see how this goes. But the Eagles wide receiver situation, definitely a big one to monitor also on the Buccaneers. Then rookie running back Bucky Hodges. He was limited in practice this week. He's supposed to be questionable in play. He said earlier this week that he would, but he could also see a limited workload. So we'll see how much of the back to split the premiere shot white and Bucky Hodges in this match up. Speaking of big time wide receivers who could miss. I know that the Vonte Adams has already been ruled out with a hamstring for the Raiders and the Browns. They're also the Raiders are without their edge Max Crosby as well. Feels like maybe a spot where the Browns could upset the Raiders without some of their best players. They're surely possibly that. And really after you see the Panthers upset the Raiders, you have to assume that anything's on the table, right? So the Raiders, like you mentioned, Grant, without the Vonte Adams or Kobe Myers last week against the Raiders. Seven catches, I'm sorry against the Panthers, seven catches 60 yards and a touchdown. And second year wide receiver Trey Tucker, a speedster out of Cincinnati. He had seven catches for 96 yards and a touchdown is on his own. So definitely going to create an interesting opportunity for more targets for the Raiders receivers with the Vonte Adams out. Also tight in Michael Mayer, ruled out for this one. Brock Bowers is obviously kind of led that tight end group as a rookie first round pick. But you can see some more opportunities as well. If an upset happens, Jerome, four is going to be a player to watch for the Cleveland Browns. Over two hundred or exactly two hundred three yards in terms of touchdown so far this season. Obviously, Tuba Hubbard had a big day against the Raiders last week as well. Four didn't practice on Wednesday, but it seems he's just managing a minor knee injury. He practiced on Thursday and Friday. I would expect him to listen as questionable. He'll wait on the Brown to court to drop. But I'd like to room four as a possible player who contributes another upset of the Raiders in this game. Very rarely would a team or two teams that have one win combined through six games. The as intriguing as the Andy Dalton bowl this weekend. Zach, this Panthers Bengals matchup is incredible theater. I can't look away. I know a train wreck is coming. How do you see it? I didn't understand what a quarterback can do when you can just simply see over his offensive line, Danny. The end of all three hundred passing yards and three touchdowns last week against the Raiders. Now he gets his foreign team in the Bengals. A couple of big players are watching this one. The biggest being Deontay Johnson who popped up last yesterday on the injury report with a groin injury. Deontay Johnson said himself that he sat himself out of practice through those conditions of the field. He practiced today. He's officially listed as questionable. So I expect to have him available for Andy Dalton. Jumping close to a career high hundred twenty two receiving yards in his first and only game with Andy Dalton. So that certainly bodes well for the Panthers off into the hole in the Jamar chase. We saw him finally have his twenty twenty four breakout against the commanders of past week six for one 18 and two touchdowns. He was on the injury report early to shoulder injury. He has since been cleared. So I expect the both the Panthers and Bengals to be at full go more or less for this game, which I agree is more exciting than what it sounds like on paper between two teams, which is one win. Zach, I want to sneak in real quick about forty five seconds left here, but the commanders are at the Cardinals. Second straight road game after Jaden Daniels was so good in that offense. Continued humming totals in the fifties, which bodes well, I'd say, for a lot of yards and points. Yeah, it bodes well for a lot of yards and points. Let me give you a sneaky player to watch here real quick guys. Cardinals played in Elijah Higgins who has four catches for forty one yards and a touchdown this season. Training pride has been rolled out with a concussion. Higgins is a former wide receiver at Stanford. He listed at six foot three two hundred thirty pounds and ran a four five four forty times a combine just a few years ago. We know that these wide receivers converted tight ends can obviously provide big points in the passing game, especially as far as fantasy is concerned. If you're looking for a guide and maybe throw in your financial life and your desperate tight end, Elijah Higgins could be a sneaky way to go if you don't have an elite option there. Zach, always a pleasure, my friend. Talk soon. Have a great weekend. Take care guys. See you buddy. Hit that local 53 sounder. Let's class up and join a little bit. Let's handsome up this segment just to hear our pal Nick Ashew, Rebecca QL. Nicholas, first of all, tell people about game day garage. For those that had foosball, I saw your handsome face and I'd love that. I have a little freeze frame that I keep in my heart, but also above my computer. And I appreciate you in both of those. Yeah, it's kind of a new project. I've been working on with that QL and all to see the whole thing. It's kind of like a instead of just doing like a watch party live stream. We've actually got a little production team going. Very small humble production team and kind of put a little extra work into it. So it's almost like kind of a mini reality show. What it's like to watch a game of some people sweating their bets and their fantasies, you know, mashups early on and Thursday night football and kind of what goes on with that. It's been a lot of fun so far. So just kind of building up trying to do something a little bit different. You can find it on YouTube. New episode just came out. I've got it out the link on my socials and a thank you. I was going to put the link to that on their socials as well too. It's growing little by little. It's been a lot of fun. That's very cool, man. I'm proud of you. Happy for you. All right. How about the commanders and the Cardinals this weekend? What's your feel? You know what, man? I think first off, just from an emotional perspective, watching the commanders that offense trend up week after week is just such a promising thing to see. Now you're going up against the Cardinals defense. It's middle of the pack in terms of stopping the quarterback and yards allowed in terms of the passing game. So it's really both well for somebody like Jade Daniels to continue this trend upward. Obviously what concerns me on the other side of things is somebody like Marvin Harrison Jr. and what he can do to watch it in secondary, which we know has been a problem for years guys. I'm sure you've talked about ad nauseam as we've seen so far this season. I think it could be a really high scoring game. I heard you guys talking about that just a second ago. I mean, I think it goes over the total there sitting at 50 and I think you're looking at another opportunity where the commanders are going to win games moving forward. You're going to have to be a high scoring team. I know this sounds dumb, right? It sounds like a it's a really dumb analysis of like you're going to have to outscore the other team. But like in reality, that's what it's going to be because the defense is certainly going to let them down a ton. How much are they going to miss act Echler? I think it's a lot, but it sounds like I may be the minority. No, I'm with you, man, because we've seen what he's done in the return game and also was a pass catcher out of the backfield. One of the things I've loved about Echler is also the fact that he's become one of the safety nets for Jaden Daniels out of the backfield, right? We know young quarterbacks really love to have that. It's usually a tight end, or maybe it's a veteran receiver. I remember Santana Moss was that guy for RG3 his rookie year, whereas you know you need to play on third down. You know you're going to that person. Zach Earth is one of them, but Austin Echler has been that too. Much more is a pass catcher, but I think that's going to be a major, major loss for them when it comes to the passing game. So I'm absolutely with you there. Nick, what on the defensive side of the ball do you expect to be better if anything this weekend? Honestly, man, not much. I'm going to be honest with you here. I mean, I expect Marvin Harrison Jr. to have a big game, and I think they're going to have to watch somebody like Tyler Murray, obviously both with his legs and with his arm. But I mean, Marvin Harrison Jr. is the big threat first and foremost. Not the only, but Arizona's got a sneaky good offense, and we've certainly seen some big numbers from them put up at times against what they did against the Rams a couple of weeks ago. I just, I don't have a lot of confidence in this defense. And look, I know this is a rebuild. My expectations are very tempered with this team. I feel very good in the direction that it's going. But it's clear that the offense is taking more stride than the defense has so far this season. Nicholas, they're going to be able to get any easy things into the offense. I think that one week was incredible, right? Going deep to McClure in that time. Yeah, it was really, really fun, but I don't know that they're going to be able to major in that. I think most of the stuff's still going to be that horizontal raid that we kind of know and love from Cliff Kingsbury. Do you think they'll be able to get some chunk plays? We know without Echler? You're going to, you're going to have to start trying to find somebody else beside Echler in those situations, right? I mean, even if it's more of a Brian Robinson, only call one pass for four yards last game. If he becomes a little bit more of a receiver like he was for them at times last year, that might be something you do. Because yeah, like it's great. I mean, it was just invigorating. I think for everybody to see Terry McClure and get involved in the offense. And in the deep game, the way that they did last game, but like defenses are smart. Even like dumb defensive coordinators. So hey, that number 17 double team him. He's really good. So like you're going to have to find other answers. You're not going to get those incredible throws and opportunities every single time. Like Jayden Daniels did obviously late in that game Monday night as well. So yeah, I think Brian Robinson is somebody to look at not just as a runner, but maybe more as a pass catcher now that you're going to have Austin Echler out. Nick, you're a guy. Thanks, buddy. Love you guys. See you, buddy. That is Nick Ashew, Ben QL here on Grant and Danny. All right. Next, we've talked a lot about Monday night this week. What's going to carry over and what won't? What did happen on Monday that worked? Do you think works again against Arizona and what ends up being very different this time out? We'll open up the phones for you guys at 800 636 1067 coming up next. Remember Austin Echler on the show in 40 minutes on the fan. [BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO] Reset the plate clock, babe. Don't the three seconds left. Daniels flips. He's got another and this time it's Trent Scott. The tackle was the extra offensive lineman and what a night for the commanders. Which offensive lineman's going to score against the Cardinals? That's the question. That is the real question. Welcome back. Grant and Danny on the fan of the breakout performers and or just success stories of Monday night. What's going to carry over and what won't? Short week, you stayed on the road, Arizona is up next. That's the question. 800 636 1067 is the number will open up the MGM National Harbor listener lines for you guys right now. So Danny will start with you. What's something that worked really well on Monday that you think they'll go back to and we'll have plenty of success with on Sunday? The chance for one on one opportunities. I think you're going to see that. I think based on the fact that you've got to cut. It's like, I always use a boxing analogy. It's not a good one. But you've got to cover your gut because Brian Robinson's giving you those body punches, right? You've got to cover because Jaden Daniels is going to scramble outside. You've got to cover because Austin Echler when he's healthy is a weapon. You've got to cover because Zach Kurtz is operating in that underneath the middle of the field. You're going to be able to get some pretty good looks for wide receivers. Now, I don't know that they've got a wide receiver core that's capable of taking advantage every week. You know, I know this isn't the week to do it because of how awesome this past Monday was. But down and down out, I still don't think this is among the better, even really top 20 wide receiver cores in the game. But you're going to be able to get some good looks and guys are going to have a chance to make some plays. I think that's sustainable based on everything else that they do. Yeah, I think that one thing that will carry over is I feel really good about the trajectory of Luke McCaffrey. I think he runs really good routes. He's very smart. And the more they want to involve him, the better. Now that doesn't mean he has to be the number two wide receiver. In fact, I don't think that's the plan. But I think he could play the slot for them. It's just six catches through three games, but he had three in week one. He had three in week three and he had 44 yards, including a 42 yard catch and run to set up a first and goal on a fourth and two. I think that they need to continue to incorporate him. I'm not suggesting majorly for the record, but I do think it's a minimum of two and probably in the range of four to five targets every single week in the slot is probably about right. He gets open at a rate that is amongst the best in the National Football League. And he's just learning. He's figuring this thing out as he goes. He's only going to get better. But I think there's something there. Down the depth chart at wide receiver. I'm not telling you they have a great number two or an awesome slot receiver. But I think the way they're going to use Noah Brown as their receiver opposite McClorne on those in breaking type things out wide. I think that works. I think he can box guys out. He can use his size. He's got a big catch radius. He can make Daniels right with the lunging diving catch. You saw him go to the ground and scoop a ball off the grass, basically, to make a big reception. He had a nice 16 yard catch the goal line. We had a guy on his back that, you know, he had kind of stacked behind him. Like, I think that's a good role for him. And then McCaffery in the slot on smaller DB's is a win at six to 200. That's a rare size for what they're asking him to do in the middle of the field. I think some of those things carry over. I don't think you're going to hit the 55 yarder to McClorne necessarily every single week. And this has nothing to do with McClorne, who's good, and Daniels who looked amazing. But that throw and catch at the end of the game is so low percentage. That's incomplete. I'm going to say like three quarters of the time. Yeah, an inch to the right with Terry's knee when it hits first. You're out of bounds and it's an almost play. There's a reason the next gen stats said there was a 10% chance of them all being completed the moment it left Jaden Daniels hand. So I think maybe the McClorne performance I'd say has less of a chance of carrying over. But I think turning up the knob on Noah Brown, Luke McCaffery, and kind of down the depth chart receivers now that there'll be more respect played to McClorin. And maybe there's going to be, you know, a second safety kind of shading his way on some of the deep stuff. I actually think you're going to see plenty of that underneath opportunity for Jaden Daniels this week. So things something it won't carry over. It can't be that clean. You can't have zero turnovers, zero penalties until, you know, moments left in the game there on the fourth quarter. Stuff happens adversity happens. The tip pass, the muff snap, the, the miscommunication, the tip pass, the, the ball that juggles out of the receivers hands, the overthrow. A mistake is coming and multiple mistakes are coming by the way. It's the league. It's what happens. This sport. We have too much data to know that, right? You're not going to go penalty free again for 50 minutes. Give or take a football. So you're all of a sudden are going to face more bad down in distance. They've been unbelievable. And even when it's gone poorly on first down, they've had great makeups, right? Whether it's, you know, fighting back from a first and, I assume the second and 12 or a second and 20 or things like that, they've done an amazing job. That's not sustainable though to have a, you know, first down penalty. Be backed up 20 yards and still get that first down and walk down and score and never punt. Some of the, the adversity is coming in that regard. So I'll circle a different point in that same category, which is they're going to turn the ball over at some point. Probably this weekend. Yeah, it's going to happen. You're going to go four straight weeks to start the year without turning the ball over. I guess it's possible. Now oddly, you don't expect a Jaden Daniels pick because he just so rarely puts the ball in harm's way. I think there's a couple of things really good about that and a couple things kind of, I don't want to even use the word bad because it's a trade off, but that keep you from maybe being better offensively about that. So the good is he reads things out pretty well. Number one. Number two, he is not taking big time risks and he almost never takes a bad risk, right? That's really good. What I would say is less than ideal about never turning the ball over or kind of the way he's played the position is. It feels like with a couple of the throws to McClure and notwithstanding, he's got to see it open if you see what I mean. Like he is not anticipating and throwing before a guy's breaking. That's sometimes where, oh, I thought you were going to do this, but you did that and that's where you get the pick or the PBU. It is fourth and two. I'm going to keep drifting backwards, backwards, backwards. I'm 11 yards behind the line, but now Zach hurts just came free in the middle of the field and I'll drive it in there because he's wide open. The more of that, and you're going to get fewer takeaways that way, which is a good thing, but also when that doesn't come open, when you've now drifted, drifted, drifted and you're waiting, that play might be dead. Whereas if you're anticipating and you're driving it into a window before a guy's there, you know, that's where you're going to be most efficient. So I think occasionally, when you see guys like you almost will always see with a really low interception rate comes a very low touchdown rate, or a very low big 20 plus 40 plus explosive play rate. It's like eating fast food every day and not gaining weight to have almost no picks and to have those explosive big things also. Yeah, every once in a while, you get an Aaron Rodgers, 50 touchdown, six interception season, and then you realize how remarkable those things are in the MVP award and you get the whole thing. Precisely, but it just doesn't happen. Like the 30 some touchdown season is normally accompanied by, for the best quarterbacks, eight to 13 interceptions or whatever. And it's just because it happens sometimes. So I view the no interceptions thing as good, obviously, but it's, there's also some telling there that isn't always great. So it's all like I'm looking forward to a pick, but I want to see how he responds when it happens, which I think people can relate to and be. I want a little bit more. Anticipating unless he's open, he's clapping his flat footed. Let me throw it to him. And they've gotten guys open, which is awesome. If that keeps happening, they're not punting. Don't change anything, but that will not keep happening. That's not how it works. It's not always like that. So the thing that is sustainable to me, or another thing that's sustainable that we'll see going forward is even if Daniel's is wrong, it's still helpful. The hidden yards that he provides in what should be a 12 yard loss that's turned into a sack for minus two, a incomplete pass that he could have forced or thrown away is a five yard gain in her first down. Those little hidden things aren't sexy that don't, you know, make sports center or, you know, the fastest, whatever it is in television. Those hidden yards are so helpful for the group to stay ahead of the sticks for them to find something where maybe there wouldn't be a drive otherwise, right? A second and 10 is a lot worse than the second and seven after he scrambles and makes a small play. Maybe you're missing out on the occasional 12 yard pass or 15 yard pass, which you'd like eventually for him to grow into. But there are a couple of those times in that Cincinnati game where you're like, oh, that was open right then if it was perfect. Okay, it's not now. Nothing's open. So instead of a loss of seven, it's a four yard game. Those plays are huge. Those trade offs that teams have decided they want, right? That's something that is the beauty of and the best part about having a quarterback who is the athlete and the runner that he is. Like if he plays like he does on Monday, then it doesn't matter because he's not only a great runner, but he's the best passer on the planet. You know what I'm saying? But what teams basically have decided, and I'm not saying individually any one team, but around the league is will forego the really good pocket passing stuff. We'll turn all of the faders down on some of that for the easy button rushing first down, back breaking scramble, the cheat code third and one fourth and one play where we've got read option and naked and boots in our bag that you can't defend and like that, that four and five yards that you just steal all game long. And that's the part where my proclivity is still like, let's throw the football. That's how you win in this league. Let's stand in the pocket. Let's pack the football and let's throw it. Teams have kind of gone away from that for the athletes position like Daniels because of what we saw Monday night where it's like, it looks like he just scrambled for one and you're like, he just got seven yards. How many times did that happen? We look up at second and three. We're like, what? He ran from a, you know, two guys out of the pocket. Now he's like running and he did such a good job at actually like keeping plays alive and looking down field and occasionally throwing like you did the Terry move the chains on a fourth down. But it seemed like every time he would get out of bounds with a little scramble and a keeper. It was five more yards and it looked like because of his speed. And that's the trade off where you go. All right. In the case of Lamar or whoever it might be, maybe we're going to miss some things down the field. We're not going to drive some of these throws into these windows, but it's okay. We're always going to be ahead of the sticks. Now it happened on Monday night that you had the best passer in the league and the guy that was running and stealing the yards from the other team. So if you could just do that every game, just do that. Let's just keep doing that all the way to some Super Bowls. That was fun. But I'm with you. I think that that transports to Arizona. And without Austin Echler, by the way, it was going to be on the show in about 20 minutes. They're going to need him to run the football and to steal. I think it's a big Russian week for him. So here's the question for you guys of that performance on Monday night that went so well against the Bengals. What carries over and what doesn't 800 636 1067 will also get into what we're going to be saying if Washington wins versus if they lose on the other side of this Cardinals game next right here on GND. [BLANK_AUDIO] Austin Echler will be on the show in 15 minutes right here on Grant and Danny at 525 today. We will go through some of the fandoll individual props for the commanders against the Cardinals will play a little over under with dad. He will lead us through that segment. By the way, you know, Darris went 5 and 0 in confidence points, picks on very where. That might have been his first five for five. The old Wendy's Biggie bag or whatever it's called. He got after it last week. So the green on his screen is a three way tie essentially right at the top of the board. And then someone's in last. Somebody is pulling up the rear, you know, someone is very early, Danny. Yeah, you're going to be okay. It's late early is what it does. Then it starts to slip away and you start out. Thank yourself. Next thing you know, you're the intern. What is going to carry over from the commanders, Jim against the Bengals and what won't. That's the question for you on GND MGM National Harbor listener lines. Kenny's in Largo. What's up, Kenny? Hey, what's going on, fellas? Hey, dude. Real quick. I'm just I'm just saying, what's what's going to stay and what's going to be more. We're going to see more bombs away. Jay, the Terry, and we're going to see less. No turnover games because I feel like he's going to get more comfortable, more confident. It's on the debauditary. Now that he's done it and he's, you know, succeeded a couple times in one game. But with that, he may start throwing a couple picks. But Kenny, do you agree with me that that's okay? Like give it and take it the way our point is not a huge deal. I don't, I don't mind that big. I love it. Exactly. I mean, give him the confidence. I love it. Shoot it. Take it. Yeah, we haven't seen it and he can do it. So let's get it. I love it. Shoot it. You're a shooter. Put that ball up and that launch. This is something that I've, you know, like I act like I'm out like walking in protest. So I'm not like really doing anything as an activist in this regard. But something I've sort of believed for a while that I find myself arguing on deaf ears. Not all interceptions are created equal. And I think nobody seems to understand that when you add them up at the end of the year and you go, this guy had more picks than that guy. So therefore, this guy's worse than that guy. Like if your picks are all armpits on like a, let's say it's a third and 11 from your own 37 and you're just taking a shot, giving a guy 50, 50 chance and the safety comes over and catches it. And it's a, you know, a change of possession. That's 51 yards down the field. Great. Yeah. Stress away. Just pinned him back. That's it. Peering in a story. But if it's, you know, over the middle of the field or on a little out route that somebody jumps and takes for a touchdown the other way, I would say that one's worse. For example, reading a couple of years ago, there was a guy who had like 10 picks, like six of them were on Hail Mary's or something. Like at the end of halves or games, right? And it's like, to that point, you're going, it's not a real pick. I wish there was another stat, like some other kind of way to do it. You could go through and say, how many of these were actually hitting a receiver's hands? Two. How many were at the end of half or end of game on a Hail Mary? Three. So your nine picks is now four, probably a better way to keep the stat where it should just be interceptions that are on the quarterback, you know, that aren't at the end of regulation or something like that. But yeah, I agree with you. They're not all created equal. There's no doubt. I do think just the video that I saw of Terry McClellan going up to Jaden Daniels after I'm not even sure if it was the 55 yard catch or the touchdown. It must have been the touchdown. But he came over to him. He's like, keep throwing me the ball. He's like in that spot, man. He's like, it's 50, 50. I got you. You got to trust me. You got to let me make a play. And it wasn't in any way. It was the opposite of diva behavior. Like it was like, I got your back. Because if you heard the Monday night broadcast, I think it was Lisa Salters had a report from McClellan and Aaron Rodgers actually referenced it on the McAfee show as being a big McClellan guy. But Terry basically told them in their meeting with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman and Lisa Salters that he said something to the effect of, I'm not going to be a squeaky wheel to get some oil. It's going to work out over time. But me coming out and being vocal and telling Jaden, he's got to do this. He's got to do that before a game. Like, I'm never going to do that because it's not fair to him. It's not going to make him better and it's not going to make our team better. He's just that kind of guy. He's a prose pro. He's awesome in that regard. But in game, kind of after the touchdown in that moment of euphoria where everyone's got that dopamine hitting and everyone's loving life. He walked up to him, Danny, and he's like, you see, man, we got this. Like, you got to throw me the football down the field. You got to take these shots. I don't have to be open to be open. My game is not that. And I just think the more of those you hit, the more confidence he'll have to throw it for sure. Callahan's in Minnesota listening on the Odyssey app, which is available to you wherever you go. What's up, Callahan? Cool. What's up, guys? I'm back. Tommy Boy. Hey, these sold half a million break pads. Still takes time to call. That's a huge deal. Her being a pack. Yes. I said Luke McCaffrey. I think he's going to carry on over into Sunday's game, getting more involved like he did this past week. And especially with Eckler out, I feel like he might be a little bit more versatile, like especially the running back role or if he's getting carries. I don't know. But for regression, I'm going to say Eckler, especially with the concussion on cake returns. Wow. Oh, cake returns. Good point. Kick returns is a good answer, actually. What doesn't carry over? Eckler is joining us in 10 minutes has been excellent. Just incredible in that regard. The first kick return of the season on the opening kick off of the year, he returned for a touchdown. It got called back via penalty, you may remember. I guess that would have been week two, but the home slate, home opener, the first kick, he returned for a touchdown. He then ripped one off way beyond midfield. I can't stress how big of a momentum gatherer that was to at the start of the second half because they had an eight point lead that you go into halftime. We've all lived this a million times over where you come out. The Bengals get a quick stop and the whole game changes and you have to punt. And now they take the lead or tie it up or whatever. Like immediately that play made it feel like the first half was not a fluke. Washington's winning this game. Just based on Eckler's effort, just by doing that, they go up to his course. And that right to your point, they're right there. It's, it's, they're in field goal range, right, right away inside the 35 yard line. I was walking back down the steps as the kickoff return was ending. And I said to deres, I go, how the heck did they get down there? He's like, dude, Eckler, great return. So I was in line to get popcorn. I'm watching it on the monitor. And it's actually really funny. Right in front of me. You were in line for popcorn for a while. They, they did not have, they couldn't get the idea that someone might want food from their food stand. There was a big complication there. That was a lot for them to deal with popcorn was delicious, though. It was very strong. There was a couple in front of me and the wife was arguing with the husband to like calm down. She's like, you got to stop. And he's like, you don't understand. We suck. And the kind of, they both sort of turn, turn to look at me. And I was like, yeah, sorry, but the popcorn. Yeah. And he's like, he's like, this guy gets it. And I'm like, dude, I said, miss, we're ma'am, I think we've been bad for decades. I understand this feeling. It's frustrating, you know, whatever. And as the kick returns happen, he's going see Austin Eckler joins the show. He had the big kick return. He was having a monster game at the 24 yard touchdown. And then he got dinged with the concussion. He will not play on Sunday. Let's check in on him on Grant and Danny next. And Danny next. [BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO] Grant and Danny on the fan. Welcome back. And thank you for making the show part of your day. It is time to get some trusted insight from a trusted insider presented by IT cadre where DC sports insiders share their exclusive perspective only here on Grant and Danny and our trusted insight and our insider today comes from Austin Eckler running back with the commanders who had another tremendous game on Monday night and the Jaden Daniels coming out party in Cincinnati before getting banged up and edited the sideline and leaving the game with a game. And leaving the game with a concussion. So Austin, we got to start first by just checking on our guy. How you feeling? I'm getting there, man. Concussions obviously are a big deal in the NFL for a good reason. And, you know, it's one of the things you kind of have to kind of feel out how your coverage is going. Mine's still coming along, but hopefully be back in, you know, a few days or so. How much better do you feel now than the night of on Monday? Oh, wow. Monday, definitely with this oriented, you know, had a ton of different symptoms going on. So I've made major, major progress since then. So that's, that's good. I'm feeling more like myself. So, yeah, definitely made a lot of progress since Monday night. Austin, to the extent that you're willing to kind of share, because I think the word concussion for a lot of us who are, you know, putting fantasy lineups in and seeing that Q next to people's name, it's just a word. Like, you know what I mean? It's an injury, but it's like hearing someone has a hamstring or whatever. There's so much that can go into it. And it is really scary. Like, I know everyone is different. And I don't know that you know how many you've had or what have you, but can you give us a little behind the scenes? I'm like, what that actually entails and means for you this week? Well, so anytime you have a concussion, the NFL, you go into the protocol, which is a very step by step built out process of you have to pass certain tests before you're able to move on to the next one. And then you have to go through all these different tests until you're able to return to play. Then you do a few more tests. And then if you pass all those, then you're finally cleared to actually go back to contact. And so, like we mentioned, all concussions are kind of different, have kind of a life of their own, so that's what these steps are there for. So they start out very simple, being able to just remember being able to have different symptoms, have to see some type of gradual pullback, the extension of those symptoms is what they want to see first and then maybe start doing some slow activity, stuff like that. So it's just like gradual comeback to play process that everyone has to go through anytime you have a concussion. Makes sense. Austin Echler won't play Sunday in Arizona. He's back here in the DMV team is out in Phoenix. We'll dive into what they might be able to do to move on without him. He's been arguably their best offensive player this year. So it's a big loss. In game, do you know right away? It happened right after your long kick return on that three-yard run-off right tackle inside the 10-yard line. It seemed like maybe you were grabbing at your ear. It was like your ear ringing and then you go into the blue tent. I saw the red hat walk to the sideline because we were in the stands in Cincinnati. Do they just tell you it's up to us now? What is the machinations in game? No, I mean, yeah. So I got hit and then I honestly didn't know what the heck was going on. And so I knew I was done immediately once I got to the tent. I actually, when I was in the tent, I didn't even remember how I even gotten the tent. Wow, come. Like, yeah, I kind of was, they were asking me questions that I'm like trying to think like, "Did I walk over here?" And so that was what I was dealing with. So I mean, anytime you have that scenario, you know you're not going back in the game. And then you kind of just, you know, go through the protocol, go in the tent, go in the back room. And then at that point, it's just kind of like, "Get ready." And then, so my ear, I'll hold my ear, which I didn't even know until I really got to the locker room or actually in the tent, they were, they were like putting the gauze on my ear 'cause up then there was a giant laceration in my ear and I'm like, "How the heck did my ear get cut open?" Is that from your helmet? That's weird. I don't know. It must have been, you know. And so I have like four stitches in my ear right now. So straight up ear hole. And that's the definition of an ear hole right there. No, yeah. And then your wife, I know was there seeing her social and I don't know what other family, but I'm sure you got to fire off a text 'cause they're worried. Like, what's that part of it like? Yeah. So this is one thing I really appreciate about Washington out here. Like, they do such a good job with just family and everything like that. So they were the ones contacting Dylan, our Player Director out here contacting my family, my mom, my wife, letting them know, "Hey, he's alert. Hey, this is what's going on. Just keeping him up to date." And so really, really just, you know, great, great family oriented organization over here. And so they definitely did their job there and keeping my family up to date. No, it's good to hear Austin Eckler with us here on Grant and Danny. So the, the trivial part, obviously, we were first of almost concerned about you and your health, et cetera. But the trivial part, the football part, apart rather, not the fart, you were rolling in that game, dude. Like, that was good. That was the Austin Eckler show. Kick off return, the touchdown where everybody's flat footed and you're on your way to the house. Like, that first drive was the Austin Eckler show. You were crushing in this game. You're going to finish with a whole mess of total yards and all the fantasy points you could muster. What were you feeling before all the badness? So, I mean, you know, it's funny because last year, the first day of the year, high ankle sprain, I come back ankle sprain on the other side too. And so I'm dealing with these flipping ankles the whole year and everyone's like, "Oh, this kid's washed. Like, Austin's done. He's done." And it's like, "Well, if I didn't have prohibited feet, then I'd be able to run." And so now I'm finally healthy back on my feet and, you know, feeling like my old self again. You know, back when I was running for 1600 yards, 20 touchdowns. And so that's what you're getting. When I'm healthy, this is what you're going to see on the field. Like, that's kind of what I've been doing for a while now. And that's what you can expect to see as you've been able to, you know, for the first three weeks here. Five touches for 57 yards, basically in a half of football. The couple of catches and the three carries and then the monster kick return, which we'll get into. So you had the first run of the game on first down, set up a second in short. And then you catch the ball on second and down. So the single handedly moved the chains. I'm imagining that first play is on the first 10 or 15 script, right? Like, when do you know that the first play is a handoff to you? Did you know that on Friday? I think it's a little, I think it's a little different here because I'm the returner as well. So I think they want to see, okay, you're going to be fresh and easy, not, you know, and so, oh, hey, it was a touch back. Austin, you're in the game. And so Brian and I were actually in the game at the same time right there. So I'd love to see that personnel. Let's get both of us out there. You know, two playmakers on the field. So that one was one. Hey, touch back. I often you're in the play. Let's run it. And so, yeah, we knew. And then that first catch to move the chains. Are you the primary on that? Or was that another one where you know it's coming? Yeah, I don't know if you call that play, you know, but I was like hiding behind the left tackle. Yeah. I'm like really down low. I don't even think actually they saw me under there. So, because they didn't react to me at all going out the flat. Little side, I didn't get more out of that. But they, you know, the corner did a good job reacting. But yeah, definitely the primary were trying to hide me and get me to the flat and pick up at least the first down. Yeah, I mean, guess the reason I asked you that, you know, in that way is first two plays go to you. You had a screen shortly thereafter. That was a big gainer across midfield. It just seemed like you were a huge part of the game plan to get everything going in the right direction. And I just wonder what that does for not only your confidence in this offense with Cliff, but maybe even to make you feel good about what you mean right now to this group. Yeah, absolutely. It's something that, you know, you have to build trust within your coordinator that, hey, we want to get this guy the ball in different ways. And I think that's what you saw play out there. Like, literally, it was, you know, run off the edge with two, two running backs in. Then we stayed in and I, you know, I'm in this awkward position running a slide underneath and then all of a sudden you're throwing a screen to me. You know, I'm running the ball up the middle as well. You know, my touchdown. So, I'm being utilized in different ways, which is exactly what the conversation that I had with Cliff to be in. The season was like, hey, but there's different ways I love to be utilized there. You know, having me moved around is definitely going to be a benefit for us. Because I feel like I can execute in different parts of the field and, you know, having that confidence with him, having it me be having it in myself and going out there and not letting them down, probably going to see more of it. Yeah. For sure. Austin Echler with the serial G&D. And speaking of confidence, I mean, you guys, you know, to get to the level that you guys play at and go through what you guys go through, you've got to be supremely confident and it's deserved, right? You're the best athletes on the planet week and a week out. Even with that baseline level, Austin, here's my question. When do you know that you're going to have a performance, not just you, but that is the team where you're like, do you have a feeling at some point, like, on a walkthrough during the week where it's like, dude, we were about to woodshed this team like we were about to put up all the points and all the yards and, trust's way, take a break. You're not punting. Like, what, at what point do you know? Is it even during the game where you're like, they cannot stop us? Like, when did you know that for this week? Okay. Yeah. So, I mean, during the week, you know, you're really just focused on yourself. You know, sure, we have their looks and everything like that. And we have our scout team that's running their looks, but it's coming down to us running our details, making sure we're in the right spot, right time, right rhythm, practicing different catering, different scenarios. It's all commanders, right, commanders, commanders, commanders. And so then we get to Sunday, and that's really where the new challenge starts. Now, we're actually going against our opponent. And so we have, obviously, you know, we're fresh. They're fresh. They think they're going to win. We think we're going to win. Like, there's no telling. Oh, yeah, our game plans are going to correct these guys. Like, you really don't know. Every game has a life of its own. And, you know, good things happen, bad things happen, but it's not the end of the world. We continue to over overcome. And so we get to the game and they, you know, score on the first drive. We come back. We score on the first drive. And that's like, okay, here we go. Seems like we're going to be a some type of dog fight back and forth kind of game. And sure enough, it played out like that. It doesn't always sustain itself like that, but it just turned into one of those games. Sometimes you have the opposite. Sometimes you have a blowout. And so you kind of take it with what it is of, okay, what is our details, where we have a situation where we react from there and try to give it our best that we can. Our weekly segment with Austin Echler as a reminder every Monday, excuse me, Tuesday at five Austin joins us here on Grant and Danny, but because of the injury on Monday night football, he was kind enough to make a time for us today and fit one in this week here on Friday. But it's presented by IT cadre trusted insight from trusted insiders presented by IT cadre where DC sports insiders share their exclusive perspective. Austin live on GND. Speaking of Tresway Danny just mentioned him. He's the punter on the team, by the way. I don't know if you ever remember him. You may not have met him yet or known him. What do you have against him? Like, why don't you guys like Tres. He's just trying to punch that time card and work like everybody else. You know, Tres is one of the guys in the locker room that like everyone really respects like he's the guy that asking everyone, you know, how they're doing, you know, how's your wife, how's like, he's the guy that everyone's like, you know what, like everyone's got a genuine, genuine respect for Tres. So he's one of those guys. I'm in the locker room. So it's definitely not going unnoticed. You know, he's still out there holding it for the field. We actually, we've known Tres for so many years. Like, when I was on the beat for four years, he was on the team early on on his early days. And so we had him on the show on Tuesday after the big game just to ask if he was still alive and just to tell him how impressed we were on the holds on those five extra points. You're such a good holder. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. It's been great. How he's been a break. Look, eventually we're going to have to punt, you know, this run is great. But, you know, eventually, you know, football football, you're probably going to have to punt one or two. So you've got to keep himself ready for sure. So you may not have been able to see it. I'm sure you'll be able to go back and watch it. But in your stead, Jeremy McNichols has a hidden play that now has kind of made its rounds on social media and the like on that incredible touchdown, the term of chlorine. He's picking up a blitz and he knocks some, you know, linebacker blitz and onto his took us. And it's like now everybody's like super excited about that sort of thing. You know, those kind of hidden plays I think are just so cool for for you guys and for fans and everybody to kind of revel in that when a performance is so cool or so great like it was on Monday night. Have you had a chance to talk to him about, you know, about that and then maybe about his role here over these over the time where you're not going to be around. Yeah, it's funny. Bring that out because I was laughing so hard when I saw him. He was trying to cut the guy and the guy legs like I kind of caught up on his back and then he kind of like flipped them. And I text him like a couple days after like, Hey, man, that cut block on that throw was absolutely hilarious because it's not supposed to look like that, but it just kind of looks funny because of how it kind of played out. But shout out to Jeremy getting in there and getting it done and he's going to have to continue to do that, you know, coming forward here because I have to fill my spot there and you know, take a bigger role in the running back in the running back position. Austin, what did you make of Jaden Daniels performance to incompletions his first two touchdowns. And on top of all of that, we finally saw the ball go down the field. He dropped a couple of deep shots in buckets. Yeah, yeah, I think this was, you know, him coming into his NFL self like he is still young. He's only played three games. You know, and so he's going to continue to learn to try some stuff. You know, we're going to have new schemes that are put in that maybe weren't in the week before that he likes a little bit. So he is going to continue to evolve in this game and who he is today isn't going to be who is, you know, even in the next game or the game after he's going to continue to get better. And that's what's great if you have a rookie that gets off to a great start is, hey, they have a jumpstart and they're learning and they're having success. And so that's exactly what we have right now is that, hey, we have a young guy in there at the helm at the quarterback position. He's having success. He's finding his rhythm, finding a groove for him that works with the team that we have around him as well. And, you know, it's not necessarily luck, but it's just not common. I think to really see that type of success super early. For me, I've just kind of seen it with Justin Herbert. And now with with Jayden. So I've gotten lucky with the rookie quarterbacks coming in. But I'm here to help support him and make him look as good as we possibly can. I know that that's my teammate or two. Austin, how would Austin Eckler replace the absence of an Austin Eckler type say in an offense that's been going pretty good over the last couple of weeks. What needs to happen? You know, it's tough. It's like, that's one of the questions like, hey, if you lose like a, you know, someone on the team that has a key role, how do you... I don't think you necessarily replace them, but you say, okay, who else do we have that can step up? How do I utilize them to their strengths? Because you can't say, okay, I'll go do all the things that Austin does, which is the same thing if it's say, hey, me, go do all the things that Brian does or some other running bad. It's like, that's not fair to that person. You have to treat them as if they're their own player. Which is kind of great for us because our weeks are basically almost a new game plan in every single week. So all right, this is the players that we have this week. Here's the game plan based off of these players. So I don't think it's about replacing me. I think it's about getting other people activated in other ways that maybe doesn't involve Austin now. Makes sense, I guess. I mean, it just seems like you've been so instrumental both running the football more importantly, catching the football. And B-Rob can do that. We saw it last year, even from Sam Hall. It's a part of his game that's undervalued. But they don't really have another version of you. What's McNichols? We haven't seen him a lot. I guess he more of an Echler-style backer or a little bit more of like a Robinson Thumper. Well, I would say he's definitely more of an Echler-style, just as far as body type, anyway. But that's not fair to say because, you know, you might be a little faster than me, actually. Well, he definitely is a little faster than me. So that's going to be advantage for him over me, anyway. But like, it's not like an apples-to-apples type thing. But he's definitely, you probably five can, you know, you can see him on the depth chart, whatever he's listed at. Like, he's more my size. So you're going to get more probably my type of runs, other than B-Rob at like six to, you know, two thirty, trying to run dudes over like that. I guess I mean more like is he a traditional like B-Rob is a Thumper you can throw the ball to and your guy get him in the ball in space and you better bring help because no one's getting him on the ground because he's shifty. Like, I didn't know what McNichols like game is. Yeah, I would say more than the latter there. Okay. So you've been on some good teams and some teams that, you know, came in second a decent amount, Austin. And here's what I'm wondering, before you got here, as a lifelong Washington and someone that loves the team and has seen all the ups and downs. Something that's usually happened in the past is a big win will happen. Whether the team's good, bad or different, you see like a big huge victory that maybe people didn't necessarily expect or however it goes. And then there's always kind of the subsequent two steps back or kind of a rug pull a let down. How do you prevent that as a guy that's been around and I know you're not there in Arizona with the squad, but that sort of thing where there's another game coming and nobody cares about last week, this week, right? Like I've seen teams just sort of collapse afterwards. How do you prevent that? Yeah, I mean, I think it comes down to your leadership on your team. And I mean, considering one of myself, one of the leaders on the team, it's coming back to keeping people focused on what matters, which is the details of this week. The details. Hey, what are the details of this week? And that's something I was preached every, literally every single day. I'm yelling out their details, details, hey, locking on the details. Here are your offenses up. Guess what? Locking on the details. Because guess what's going to help you win games on Sundays? Regardless, if you just came off of a blowout that you won or lost or is a close game, we have new details. We have a new game plan. We have to go out there and execute to the fullest of our ability. And how do you maintain that if you have something good? Well, that means you've done something hopefully good in the past. We've come down to your fundamentals and your preparation. So how do we replicate that? Well, let's keep preaching the same thing. It comes down to your culture, comes down to your leaders, comes down to how each individual person is attacking the week. It's not something that you necessarily turn on in office. It's really a gradual build. That's why culture is such an important topic when we're talking about football teams. Because it comes down to how you prepare, how you play, how you hold yourself accountable, how you set a standard. All the things that come into helping you be consistent during the year. What do you think of the team staying out there and just going straight to Phoenix? I kind of like the possibility that you don't come home and all your buddies aren't telling you how good you are for a few days. They just got right back to work. Yeah, I mean, that's what we're out here for. Dan Quinn says, look, we're not out here. You know, it's a rebuild or do whatever, you know, some of these people say about us. We're out here to win football games. That's why we're hired. We didn't get hired to win next year. We get hired to win right now. And so if that's what he sees is the next step, hey, we got to go straight out there because it's a short week. We don't have to waste time flying around all this. Let's go. We're here to win games. That's our job. So if that's what he wants, that's what we're going to do. Chance to get to three and one in Arizona will be a tall order without our guests. Austin Echler, but the guys are getting ready to tee it up on Sunday. How will you watch the game? This has to be so weird for you. Are you just going to be in your living room? I freaking hate it, man. I hate it so much. I remember, I believe it was 2020. I hurt my hamstring pretty bad. Had to watch like seven games from home. And I remember just doing push-ups. Like I just get mad. Like I'm just like mad. It was angry push-ups. I'm not there. Like I'm still in game mode, but not there. So I don't have no way to like kind of blow off steam or my energy. So like I'm just, I'll do some sit-ups. I'll do some core. Like my fiance. She's like, why are you like so intense right now? Well, just you don't understand, you know. Will you watch by yourself or like is it cool if people are in the room? Well, my wife, we'll probably walk together. But she knows how I am on game day. So it depends viewership. Yeah. By the way, that turnover phrase is perfect. Because that's how us crazy people do it. Intense viewership every week. That's what we do. Yeah. It's not like a casual. Let's just have a nice conversation. It's not time for conversation. It is a lot. Right. This is my job. I'm not here as a for fun viewer. Like I'm supposed to be out there contributing to the team so I can keep my livelihood in this league alive. What's cool when I'm watching it and not there. I'm like, I feel like I'm missing that, you know. Totally. But for a lot of us watching the game, we're just kind of seeing, oh, okay. What are they doing here? Like you're the, you were in the, you're in the script. You're like an actor in the movie watching the movie. So you're like, oh, this is that play. Oh, I see it. Watch Luke. Luke's about to come in the backfield. Like you got the whole thing ready to go. I guess they might, there might be one or two wrinkles this week. They install that you haven't seen, but it's not like it's, it's not in the playbook. Right. Yeah. I keep up with everything. So I still watch, I still watch the practices out there. I'm still a lurker. I'm a lurker from the sidelines. You know, I'm going to make sure everyone might see something. I'm going to text somebody like, Hey man, what the hell is this? You know, like it got to make sure, make sure that everyone's being held accountable for the details, you know. So when I watch it, I know what the heck I'm looking at. Um, but yeah. Austin, great to hear it man. And thrilled honestly that you were on the mend and the air was trending up there. Obviously it first and foremost concerned about, about you and, and the fact that you're getting better is awesome. Can't wait to see you back in the field. But I appreciate the time as always. Likewise. Thanks for having me on board. Thanks buddy. There's our guy Austin Echler. He will be out on Sunday commanders go to Arizona to take on the Cardinals. It cadre makes that segment possible every week. I T cadre's trusted insight, helping leaders of the nation's most important organizations understand complexity, align efforts and make the best data driven decisions to achieve success. I T cadre, your vision, our purpose, Grant and Danny with you on the fan. Let's hit some props. Some over under projections for some of the commanders starters without Echler this coming Sunday next on G and D. I'm going to go ahead and take a look at the next one. I got a feeling things could be looking up for a little over under props this week with the commanders offense breaking out last week when I introduced the segment. I said Danny's going to take all under pretty much happened. I'm going to take a couple of overs, but I didn't have a lot of faith in the receivers. I think we both might give some more overs out there. So all my overs are typically I gave overs on earth's catches and yards hit. Over's on Austin Echler catches and yards hit and didn't because he got hurt. His yardage over dead catches total didn't and then every over for the opponents when it comes to passing the football. All the hits thing where I was wrong. Maclaurin anything where the commanders did well offensive no other than just the receiver Echler and Earth's, but regardless, we don't need to re legislate last week. The point of the dude's story is it is time to do a little over under find the props on Fandall Fandall sports book. The app that we'll use will bring in our producer. Darris did had Dameron, what do you got that never gets old. Let's start with QB one for your Washington commanders. They have Jayden Daniels passing prop set at two 15 and a half climbing to 15 and a half. I will say under, I think Washington has him run around a little more. I think this is like a 12 or 13 carry game. I could see him running for 70 to 80 yards, something like that. Big Brian Robinson game, I think he's around 200, but I just don't see him going for, you know, last week it was two 50. I don't think he replicates that. I think they, they surprise the Bengals a little bit with the vertical passing game. I think the Cardinals will be prepared. I'll say a slight under on two 15 again, those hidden yards with Austin Echler that add up, right? Those little dump offs that go for 12 and seven and 14. They're not available to you. Don't happen this week. So I think we're just joined a seem to think McNichols could do some of that. He did. And I love Austin Echler for it. But this is old rainy. Do you? Not quite buying that. I got a slight under on this one. I think there's the rushing fader spoiler. We turned up a little bit. How about the opposing quarterback? Kyler Murray, who's only faced the Washington commanders once in his career. Sorry. You weren't so much over, over, over, two 30 and a half. Oh, sorry. You weren't done yet. That is deployment over. I thought you said four 30 over. No, two 30 and a half easiest over the lever over. Yeah. It's going over. They can't stop any. All right. So Brian Robinson, his rushing prop is set at 67 and a half. So I was at it's interesting because I was actually thinking up it should be higher than normal. Normally he's in the mid 50s low 60s because it's it's him. I mean, he's the whole kitten kaboodle this week. I will go over for Brian Robinson. I think it's like an 18 carry 72 yard game. Something like that. Yeah. 18 for 80. That's what he does in this game on the ground. He's going way over that total. The rushing prop is set at 47 and a half. That is a hammer over that 47 and a half. I think there's a better chance he rushes for a hundred than goes under that. I will say Jaden Daniels is in the 70s in this game. Yeah, I think he goes over this total to scratch my head, not actually, but figuratively going. Why is it? Why is that one on the low side? What am I missing here about this? I know I think he went under that this total this past week, but I think one less receiving option, one more Jaden Daniels scramble here or there and you go over that total. I think that's a hammer over seems like it. I will say quarterback rushing totals are never that high. Like, even if you look at Lamar peak of his powers, it's normally in the low 50s. The calamari who's got his average in 55 yards of games over under 33. That's what I'm saying. The rushing for quarterbacks is always lower than you think. I don't think I've ever seen a Lamar over maybe, you know, upper 50s might be the highest it gets for him, even when he's running all over the place because the expectation is just that there aren't going to be enough opportunities as the game goes on. But 47 and a half seems easy for me. Danny just mentioned this one will go to the opposing quarterback column. Murray's rushing prop set at 33 and a half. So I've got a slight over on this one. I don't think it'll be as robust as it's been through three weeks because I don't think Washington pressure is him a ton. So to me, his, his, you know, big plays in the running game are those scrambles and those seven yarders, maybe the cutback here or there that go for a 10 to 15. I think this is a slight over, but it's not like a huge banner rushing there for him. He ran for 57 against the bills. There wasn't a lot of second half urgency offensively until Buffalo came back. He ran for 59 against the Rams and then he ran last week for 45 against the lions. So he has cruise past this number three times. He'll be four for four. He will go over that total. The opposing starting running back is one James Connor, who's probably said it's 66 and a half. This one's close. It can stop the run better than people think. And I know everyone thinks that that's insane in week number one, they shoved it on Rashad White who couldn't run at all and have a great running table. Yeah. I don't know how great Arizona is at running the football. Calamara is great at running the football. James Connor's not very dynamic. I think they do an okay job. I think this is a slight over, but this isn't like a layup to me. I think he ends up like right around 70 yards. James Connor went for a buck 20 in week two for what it's worth. He's been under this total in the sandwich games week one against the bills. 16 attempts for 50 yards, 3.1 per. And then last week nine for 17 along of seven, 1.9 per. I'm going to say under, I don't think they need to run the ball all that much. Maybe he gets over to it at the end of the game. If they have a lead, but I actually think Washington may well win this game. I think it's going to be back and forth. And I think that they're going to throw the ball predominantly and get what they want through the passing game. So I'll say under for him. All right. The receiving side, Terry McCorn broke out last week with a hundred yard game. They have his props set at 52 and a half under on this one. I would love to be wrong a second straight week, but I've got two weeks where there's not much production there. One week where there is, and if I'm Arizona, I'm going, that's the only thing I'm scared of right now with this offense. I can live with Zachar. It's underneath. I can live with Noah Brown or Luke McCaffrey underneath or Brian Robinson thumping. I can't live with over the top, which was the easy button twice for Washington. I'm going to do everything I can to take that away. So I think he's back to those more meager totals this week and he'll go over 52 and a half. It's not going to be a hundred like it was last week. The 55 yarder did the heavy lifting there, but he's going to get seven, eight, nine targets every single game. He's going to catch five, six, seven balls, most games. And if you put up, you know, 11, 12 yards per contest, you get him up over this number. I think, well, I haven't seen some of the 15 to 20 yard stuff that he's always majored in here. Those square ins, those digs, the middle of the field just doesn't seem like a big part of their offense. One of those has to be coming at some point. We also saw a couple of plays where Daniels while leaving the pocket scrambling reset and through to McCorn tells me they're getting on the same page in that plaster where like you're on the move and he's trying to just find space. It takes one of those where he gets you in some real estate and you go run for 25 after that and you're on your way. So I'll say over, I think he goes for something like, you know, six catches for 70 yards. The security blanket, Zach Hertz, he's got his props at a 29 and a half. I'm always over on Zach Hertz right now. To me, this one's like, I'll be wrong betting on Zach Hertz because the offense goes through him largely. Look at targets, look at catches, even when they had a half a football where they didn't do anything the tight ends really in Cincinnati, they came back to him, they targeted him five times and got him five catches in just one half against the Bengals. He hit his over. He's gone for 38, 62, 28 in the three game so far. He has not even been targeted as much as I expect, but I think it's a bigger Zach Hertz game because I think the pass rush gets home. The recordinals this year, one of the 10 best teams in the league rushing the quarterback. They're in the top eight and sacks per pass attempt. I think this is a game where the commanders could have a hard time keeping Daniels upright from time to time. That means back side of the backfield, no Echler and tight ends that's Zach Hertz a safety valve. Yeah, they know Echler part. The targets go somewhere. I think they go to to her. Now you may have him stand and chip or max protect every now and again to help out with some of those blitzes and the like show TBD on that, but I do think he goes over that total and previous weeks, it's been hard to find a wide receiver prop other than Terry McQuarran. We've got two this week. Noah Brown set at 29 and a half under 29 and a half. I think he has two or three catches, but mostly for him, it seems like in the 10 to 12 range. So I'll say like two for 28 or three for 27, something like that for Noah Brown. Yeah. Under on Noah Brown, but not don't have a great feel for this one because he could go. He could be doing a nice job and not get targeted at all. There could be a Noah Brown game coming though where he's good enough. He could go like seven for 80 if they just don't involve them or yeah, or you get, you got to look that you like, et cetera, a matchup that you like. And maybe that's this week. If the Cardinals say Terry's not beating us, like we saw the film that we're not giving them that. Let's send a safety over bracket him that way. It's like T Higgins on the backside when you feature Chase where he's got, you know, the ability to get inside these players and box them out. That's Noah Brown's game. Could be that. Yeah. This could be the week, but I've got an under. All right. The final one is Luke McCaffrey. They got him set at 19 and a half over. I think this is a big Luke McCaffrey opportunity. I think he's going to return kicks with Austin Echler out, at least partially. There's a chance of Lamadeza Kias is involved in that area as well. I also think he's going to get a carry might be in jet action, you know, in the slot, but I actually think he could line up in the backfield. I'm telling you there's a wacky, you know, opportunity there for Christians, little brother, but obviously that wouldn't help him in receiving yards. I say all that to say, I think he's going to have to be involved. Echler said it's not about replacing me. It's about getting other guys more active. I think that could be McCaffrey. This was my Zeke suspicion as well. I think he gets six touches in this game. I think he goes over because it's again, it might be out of the backfield. It might be gimmicky. It might be a little slot screen or something like that. You're going to see him a little bit more involved as the, as things progress commander's cardinals four o'clock window on Sunday, you're listening to Grant and Danny next, our confidence points picks for week four, which games do we feel best about prognosticating? This is the fan. the fan. The fan is going to be a little bit more involved. I think he's going to be a little bit more involved. I think he's going to be a little bit more involved. I think he's going to be a little bit more involved. I think he's going to be a little bit more involved. I think he's going to be a little bit more involved. I think he's going to be a little bit more involved. I think he's going to be a little bit more involved. I think Josh Allen has a field day and I do believe the Bills will win this outright. I should audible to Green Bay just to zig when you guys are zagging because that line doesn't smell right and you're both falling victim over here. But we don't do any trade backs. You can't change your picks after you send them in. Two point play Steelers minus one and a half Pittsburgh is the better football team. They will cover the number of one and a half because Anthony Richardson's awful. He is good athletic traits. He can throw the ball farther than everyone else. You guys are suckers if you care about that. He throws terrible interceptions. He's completely like 48% of his passes. He's a tough watch. The Steelers defense is awesome. They will cover win by one and a half. I got two and a half. I also have two and a half. Okay. Two and a half. They have moved today. I, not this morning, but I will take that and run with it. I have the Seattle Seahawks. I think they going up against my Detroit lines plus three and a half against them. They usually play Dan Campbell pretty tight as well. I'm not fully bought in on the lines being that steam rolling machines. They were last year on offense. So I think the Seahawks are actually really good. I have them covering but losing my three. Doesn't sound like a vote of confidence for Jared Goff. No. I'm going to be 16. Still my MVP. Okay. Red rifle. Revenge game buying Carolina plus four and a half. Oh, let's go. Are the Bengals going to be out in four? No, they wouldn't buy a point. Okay. My one point play looks like all four of us have made a pick on this game. I also have the red rifle covering that plus four and a half Carolina over the Bengals. One point play. Will Levis somehow some way figures it out plus one and a half. The Tennessee Titans against the Miami Dolphins, Miami is just gross without to. The Denver Broncos plus seven and a half going up against the Jets. I think bow nicks will have a nice little day against that Jets defense. Give me the Minnesota organization plus two and a half. I think they covered that number even if the Packers went should have gone green bay. Absolutely should have just audible the small test broken our own rules. Getting Danny on the fin next, we'll give you the commander's Cardinals official game prediction plus the player to lock in on and we'll get you ready for Nat's baseball as they've got a 645 first pitch tonight, their final series of the season.
