"It seems like I have been found. I have to go now. Stop him! You've never got me!" Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and on the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 region, broadcasting from the University of Calgary, Canada station, you are listening to CJSW 90.9 FM. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Well hey there it is just shortly after 11 o'clock on a beautiful Saturday morning here at CJSW 90.9 FM, CJSW.COM on the internet. This is speaking in tongues. The world was a show. My name is Darrell. That was a brand new single from Nicodemus Baba Sisoko and Gittkin called Baba Rides the Wonder Wheel from Wonder Wheel Recordings. Some World Beat from Nicodemus and from Wonder Wheel Recordings which is a great label out of the New York area. Tunes from around the planet for just about the next couple of hours and we're going to enjoy presenting them to you. If you want a text booth you can certainly do that at 403-220-3991 and we would be happy to chat. Just commenting last week that it's a busy time of year for everybody but it is an energizing invigorating time of year I think too and in that spirit we will attempt to keep you entertained for just about the next couple of hours until one o'clock when we hear from the dip. New recording has just come out. It's just been released from Soundway Records which has been a go-to label for me for many years now. Maybe not quite so much of late. I think they've not been quite so prolific of late as they were at one time for whatever reason. The nature of the recordings that have been released haven't been captivating to me personally sometimes as the recordings were, say, five years ago plus. A new one has come out from a group called Dardiski and we're going to hear a track from that right now. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Sonic deliciousness can be found at CJSW 90.9 FM. Your community radio buffet. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I cleared out my throat before I came on mic because I love my audience and I care too much about your listening pleasure. That was quite a sad. It wasn't that there was some energy in that set most recently from Chicha Libre from Tequila y Aguadiente. That is a new release on Barbash Records. Only four tracks on it and we heard a remix of "Caminito de Mi" before that Alex Cuba with, I believe, is his father, Luis Puentez, and I love that track for many reasons, one of which is that it so much reminds me. It reminds me of the Bono Vista Social Club stuff which I love kind of across the board, Alex Cuba and Luis Puentez with Kayon the Betch from Vosteme Familia in which Alex Cuba sings and plays with members of his family. Unga, before that, from Montreal S. F. Loca from Clache Le Foy. Again, that's on a label called Montreal Sauce Pecont company. That's a great album. It's been on the CDSW chart list for a few weeks now. ML before that, some Tunisian music to Manit from M.R.A. E.M.N. Blues. They're new recordings called "Only Love Remains" and we heard "Le Fuc", "Le Fuc" and "Dar Disku" off the top. De Bali from "Dar Disku", their self-titled recording, freshly out on sound, way recordings. CDSW 90.9 F.M. CDSW.com on the net. This is speaking in tongues. The world was a show. Hope we're keeping you reasonably entertained so far. Something else has just released a new album that I've been looking forward to hearing is Ken Kawashima, who otherwise known as Sugar Brown. He's put out some excellent albums before Toronto-based musician who is a really strong bluesman. I think he has a grasp and a genuine affection for all of the different facets of blues music. He's clearly been a very enthusiastic student of the history of the genre and sub-genres and he basically can play in just about any style. He's got a good voice, got a good player. He is a good player rather. We'll hear a track from this new recording. The recording is called "Toronto Bound" and it is a self-release. Let's hear a track called "Catfish Attraction" from Sugar Brown. ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ attraction. We made you belong to me for 20 minutes or a stripper. She finished with jumping jacks and went for a giant baseball fishman squeeze a cigar between his teeth. He said give me that guitar. Turn it down and open deep. And the delta fish market won't get to you Jackson. You're gonna see a real catfish attraction. ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ Sometimes nothing will do, but a little bit of rock steady, in this instance from the aggravators, a truck called Chance Gaming from a really, really superb release called Rock Steady Revery came out in 2017, released by Bunny Lee, the agro-vators. Keep that band name in mind. Yeah, sometimes it's funny with music, how sometimes whatever you happen to be listening to is the only thing you possibly could be listening to in that moment, that just nothing else will do on the planet other than that thing that you're listening to, and sometimes it's like rock steady music for me. Hopefully strike that chord with you, at least every now and then on CJSW90.9FM, CJSW.com on the net on this program, and so many other programs, every program that is currently on the CJSW listening dial 24/7, 365 days a year, you can hear it all at CJSW, and much of it, you can't hear anywhere else on top of that. Wherever you happen to be around the planet, welcome aboard, as I mentioned off the top, I think I remember to do it today, if you want to chat 403-220-3991, you can text a booth. I don't know how you're listening to us today, wherever you are right now, if yours are tuned in to 90.9FM, you might be listening live on our 18,000 watt signal. You might be streaming us live through CJSW.com, or you might be listening to us on the app, which you really ought to download if you haven't done that already. It's been around for a while now, and it really is indispensable. So, world music, music from around the planet, stuff that a lot of the stuff is new, like it's brand new, it's just been released that I've been playing. Some of it has been around for a while, as in the case of the aggravators, but haven't played very much rock steady at least lately, and you might never have heard the aggravators. I hope it all sounds fresh for you. I'll just nod in the direction of Tom, who might be listening today, who supplied, by the way, sausage rolls during last year's funding drive, kind of unexpectedly at the last moment, for which I'll ever be grateful. Local DJ, he's done some DJing in the UK before too, he's really, really good. He has a thing for music from around the world, he introduced me to another band from Australia called The Seven Ups. They have just released a new EP called Fight Night, and we're going to hear a track from The Seven Ups. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Second album from Charlie Crockett in 2024, "Visions of Dallas." And we heard a track called "Lonesome Feeling" from him. He played live here in town just a few months ago. It was a great show musically. A little uncomfortable to stand on a concrete floor. At Great Eagle Casino for the entire evening. But a great show from Charlie Crockett that night. If you get a chance to see him play live, he's got a super band. And I think he's a great songwriter, singer. And a couple of new albums, both of which are really strong. This one is called "Visions of Dallas." And "Lonesome Feeling" was a track we heard. Joe Ealy before that, who is somewhere in his 70s. He's a dude who's getting up there. He clearly still has it in inverted quotation marks. His latest recording driven to drive. And we heard watching them semi's role from Joe Ealy. J.P. Harris before that got all the respect in the World for a guy who can call an album. J.P. Harris is a trash fire. And we heard the track "Trash Fire" from that album. J.P. Harris is a trash fire that's new to the C.W. Chartlist. King Canyon. And before that, I try to not to repeat playing tracks too too often on this show. But I chose to do that in this case. Just a sublime track, I think, called Mulholland from King Canyon featuring the guitar of Derek Trucks from a self title recording by King Canyon. Sean Beaver was in that set. Some local music-related fly from the Temperance Weizacher, a new one to the C.W. Chartlist. And recommended by Miguel a track called "3221" from Doverville, E.P. No. 1. From Taiwan, "Mongtong" and "Escaping and Circlement." That's a new track from them from their new album called "Mongcock Dual," which just dropped last night. As a matter of fact, from Australia right at the top of the set, the "Seven Ups" and "Free Flying Birds" from "Fight Night." They're latest EP. Here's some new music from "Julia and My Orga."
