Welcome to the Double Doos podcast an amazing show that lasts only 22 minutes and is for you the listener So soak it up. So here are your two big beer hosts Will Avril and Nelson. Hey, we'll hit the timer Right still in person here. We are together again face to face a couple of silver spoons I think I've sung that one too on my song definitely so sung before yeah That's that's one of your standards. I Never though for a well sings have you sung it? No, I mean, you know because I have to learn all of the Words and I don't I only really know that here we are face to face a couple of silver spoons Well, it can't be that many words probably even even if it's like an extended full version of the song They usually don't go more than like a couple minutes like I know I know that mr. Belvedere song is like two minutes long I want to say Yeah, maybe I'm wrong According to our new arrival, I think is the name of it I remember correctly, okay, I Don't remember it to be on I never I wasn't I didn't watch a lot of mr. Belvedere. Well, that was your mistake I have I have a lot of problems. Yeah, rousing stories of the blitz from time to time I I don't know aspersions on the quality Youkar was the dad. I mean like I said, I got no problems with it. I just didn't watch it I feel like that he paid he really paved the way for for his role in major league by being a sportscaster and an X ballplayer and in Mr. Belvedere Yeah, yeah, oh major league. I bet that doesn't hold up particularly well You know, honestly, I I don't think it's as bad as a lot of things It's been a few years since I watched it, but I watched it not that long ago and I think I Will give you it's not passing the Bechtel test right because there's two female characters, so I believe never meet But Yeah, yeah at the same time I feel like it's more like goofy baseball stuff then it's 80s misogyny You know what hasn't was to the test of time Scott Bayo's zapped boy. How do you know? Yeah, it barely stood the test of time back then He was already kind of questionable Zapped does not respect consent. No, it does not it most certainly does not Well, we're excited to be back with you dear listeners We we want to let you know that if you enjoy double-deuce for free. Why not pay for it? We have a patreon you can join our patreon and our patreon you get special bonus episodes Including a special minia every month and then I sing sometimes and then Nelson talks about things. He's watching. It's a whole Another layer. It's like if this is the top layer of the onion of double-deuce You're getting into the nice tasty little the little green bits where the new onions kind of isn't gonna grow Or is it not gonna go nice? It's a really that's a real. It's like right at the root of that onion. Yeah, it's the root That's that analogy didn't really work very well It's not it's not your worst analogy, but it's not your best. Yeah, it's it's it's in there I think people can figure out what you what you meant. What was my worst analogy? Um, you know, I know you've had a couple rough ones, but and right the moment. I think I I Forced myself to forget that's fair so that I wouldn't have to relive that trauma Yeah, and I have not come to terms with them yet Yeah, I'm sure some some some therapy session at some point in my life I'm gonna dig into those sure but and when I do I'll text you Listeners what what you are more aware of the things we say and do on here than we are We just go into a fugue state and then when we're done. There's an episode But what's Will's worst analogy hashtag Will's worst analogy? Do you ever get to feel like our hashtags are right to you all? They can be sometimes. Yeah, I feel like that one's not terrible Three words you're you're you're better with the brevity on the hashtags. I tend to get excited Yeah, and I say a lot a few more words With any writing don't don't be scared to edit. Yeah. Yeah, I Mean, you know Ernest Hemingway who was one of the you know the breeziest writers of the modern age And it is the shit out of his stuff to get to that point. He didn't just write like that You don't think so. I mean, I've seen like the pictures of the drafts and stuff where there's a shitload They're marked up all the fuck where he's like crossing stuff out adding stuff in Simplifying. Yeah, are you sure that that's just not like for show like you know, I mean well But I mean that the edited notes look more similar to the actual Final product so it seems like an elaborate ruse if if you were able to just do it Why wouldn't you just do it? He had a lot of drinking to do so why have to go through that much more work? Yeah, and slow your drinking down. That's a good point. Mm-hmm. That's a good point But it was the in the end. It was the drinking that got him Well in the yeah The World War one I think was a big part of it, too. Yeah. Yeah, and also, you know Early 20th century ideas of masculinity Got him. Yeah, those were pretty hard. Those were pretty pretty restrictive. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah What would not not deal like refusing to deal with drama because that's what being a man is about right when a lot of deep inner personal, you know, sort of revelations Having always works that and also I believe that his his main outlet was writing and he The alcoholism pushed into the point where he was no longer able to write much anymore. I Think it was a big thing. Yeah So there you go. There you go. Those are like the seven things that killed their his timing way in case you've been wondering all this time Oh, man, if that's not the title of the episode, I'm gonna be upset the seven Molly that was that was the eighth thing, but nobody talks about the Bali. I Don't know that that's a drug he would have used. He probably would have would have thought That it wasn't manly enough Mmm, you probably would have helped if he'd done some Molly Honestly, he might have been more in touch with his feelings and able to to maybe work on them to a degree So step one we get a time machine step two we go back in time and introduce her in a semi-weight of Molly step three he doesn't kill himself and He writes. Oh the Sun It said what the fuck which is a studying sequel to the Sun also rises. Yeah, where he discusses his trauma Yeah, and everybody's happy. I mean, yeah, I feel like to some degree. He does discuss this drama the Sun also rises Do you not give me a lot to work with here? Especially where you like he said to explain it he asked to couch it in the terms of a physical Issue rather than a mental one. Yeah And then there's bullfighting in the middle he does like bullfighting he does and a lot of drinking a lot of drinking Yeah, well, that's not much pretty good though to do when you're both when you're watching bullfighting, but drink great I Mean that seems natural to me. Yeah, I don't know. I'm not that many way. No me neither. Yeah Hey speaking of Let us know hashtag I've heard his timing way and I approve of this No, I was gonna say I want to slide on over into I saw a show corner, okay because I saw a little jump of a show that we started watching and I Had missed it, but then there's a personal connection. That's kind of fun. So I On Netflix pops up Kevin can fuck himself. Yeah, you know, I saw that though It was on there and I thought I should check that out. Yeah, I remember when it like was on I think it was only TBS maybe It's from AMC is from AMC. Maybe that's what it was And you know I noticed it did the AMC app died because I noticed all of a sudden that like all the AMC shows It sounds like that probably means that that and there's whatever the AMC plus isn't doing so hot these days I think they basically just sold their content to like Hulu and Netflix. We're just like here everybody can have this now And you can all pay us instead of us I feel like that's the all the places tried streaming at a point and they're just like let's cut out the middleman Because also again, it's like there's too many who's gonna pick AMC plus as like one of their their ones Which is really hilarious because we basically just come back around to having cable even though we've been a huge long journey Of individual subscriptions and trying to unplug From cable. We just ended up recreating cable Only slightly more expensive and you know much more clusterfucking because you have to go to 16 different places to do You're watching instead of just one Yeah, I mean probably less than that. Okay, eight. Yeah Yeah, and you can combine some like my paramount plus is on my Amazon So I only have to go to one place for both man. You're like especially because the paramount plus app I remember was garbage and I was like this thing doesn't work It is terrible. Yeah So I was like you have to go somewhere else like this this app does not function on its own but Yeah, no the can't give back himself is a fun little show I don't want to give away too much, but the conceit is basically that like any Murphy's like wife in a sitcom, but it's also like the CBS sitcom where the wife is a real person Right, and then and then yeah, then she is basically yeah Like it's CBS sitcom where she then like goes into a different room and it's like actual reality and it's a bunch of grammar And it's it's very fun and a friend of mine from college and I'll shimkevids is one of the writers on it I thought that was pretty cool. I was like, oh, I wonder if that's an email shimkevids And I'm like how many mail shimkevids can there be really? I mean, it's a pretty unique name shimkevids. Yeah And it turns out same mail shimkevids nice She's kicking around in in LA writing this fun thing with any Murphy at it and you know, I like me some any Murphy I don't know if she's doing it anymore. No, I feel like that shows on a little while back It was and and you know I it's two seasons and I think that's probably all of that I can take the one thing I would say is I think that the Conceit is fun for a while and then it starts to get a little I grow too far past it They try and it takes a little too long to grow past it. It's like the I feel like since there's not too many other examples But it's like a little like the reverse wand division because in one division was like there were those two first episodes that were just in This is a calm world and so you're like what the hell is happening here? I don't know if I can hang with this. Well, this is like because it's back and forth and back and forth and back and forth He's like, okay. Well, this starts to feel a little a little bit a little bit say me But but it's interesting enough and she's a fun enough actress that I think she can carry it Kevin is really annoying Yeah, he's we were laughing because he reminds us a little bit of no offense But he reminds us a little bit of Troy our friend Troy Hirsch And Jerry Mitchell a little bit of a combination of those two okay with a little bit of That Peter nude from family guy in there in the mix Right on Also, I'd like to introduce you to our special guest today Oliver Fox Hi, all right anything to say to the listeners Okay, awesome. All right Ollie's here and he says poop This is nine Right on. Yeah, you know, I started Because I saw it was on Netflix and I had never I feel like when I was when back when there was less content I used to occasionally rewatch your show in the summer months when there's less TV on And I haven't done that as much and I feel like that can be a good way to to finally get you a job Good to show that you like was to like watch it to binge it then and see how it holds together And so I was rewatching the magicians Halfway into the second season. You've never seen the magicians. Check it out. It's real good. Okay. It is also a real good example of how to adapt books into a show and Expand on things but not change the general nature of them Like the books are really good, too But simpler there's but at the same time like everything that happens in the books ultimately Happens in the show. It just they fuck with the timeline a little and also There is the setup that there is a like a time loop going where one of the kind of major incidents in towards the beginning of the books is Bigger in the show and keeps happening over and over again And so the idea that like at some point things happen like they happen in the books Oh, and this is another instance of these things happening and they happen different this time But uh, it's good and it expand like all the characters They maybe expand their roles, but they all exist and still feel like who they are Except for one character. I think is just is just a dick in the in the books And they give him a little more depth and it make him more interesting in the show He just he's just kind of a general antagonist in the in the book Well, I uh I recommend both highly I don't know what the books are kind of like if Richard gates wrote harry bonner and it was just like It's a bunch of kind of broken depressed people finding out that they can do magic because it's the Can see just kind of there's a magic grad school that people kind of go to to learn to be magicians Nice, but uh, most of those people are kind of sad And so and then it's just kind of from there that like well, we're magicians Now what the fuck do we do with our lives a little bit in the book? And then things happen that kind of push that what what they do with their lives forward Well, there you go, but yeah, there's a lot of on we there's a lot of uh It's good. All right. Well, I think that's what they're good. I'll put highly recommend both the show and the books Nice. I uh, I had also been enjoying um I just started when you and I talked about a few episodes ago about sunny Uh on apple tv. That's that's fun. That's like my troll. I'm excited to see the end of it, but uh Right. It's interesting how it has been progressing. It definitely takes a journey Yeah, it definitely takes a journey and it's been a fun journey And I feel like there's there's mysterious things that are starting to be explained But our parts of it are still mysterious, right? Exactly what the accuses Pardon all of it is. Yeah Yeah And boy, yeah, the eukusas just they're great bad guys because they're terrifying They're terrifying And even even I get the sense that this is kind of mediocre eukusa. Yeah, they're still terrible. Yeah I still like that first one where she's like eukusa used to give out better snacks Still one of my favorite things about like the eukusa gone downhill I Uh, what are you watching? Let us know hashtag double do's. I'm watching this show And then let us know Because we want to know we want to hear from you. We want to we want to love you In a way that you deserve to be loved. We are inherently here for you listeners. Yeah, you're our people We care, you know, I started watching that bad monkey show on apple too with the vincevon Yeah, I like it pretty well. It's got uh, it's almost Kind of like a fleshy vibe in a way Very fleshy vibe. That's actually what I was going to say And there's a little bit of one of those Uh, I feel like There's the the vincevon being kind of the pithy sarcastic But sometimes earnest guy and not every joke lands, but some of them are pretty solid I feel like there's I'm he's entertaining me overall I like his I like his buddy cop. I like to get a little bit next partner Yeah, I like things to be a little bit sleazy, but uh, but also like kind of whimsical And uh, and it's very like the the the the the emmy who keeps thinking the things He's trying to do or him trying to have a date with her But he's like no, this is what I do with my partner and it's like going for ice cream And you find out like no, that is what they do Yeah, it's it's fun. It's wonderful It's a it's a good It's an interesting little uh, a little uh, twisty detective kind of thing It's fun. Yeah, it is. It's uh, I I'm only three episodes I think we're only three or four episodes so far into it. So you might be caught up Hey, look at me. We're not too far into it yet And it's also got uh What is his fucking name? With the musta, Rob Delaney Oh, yeah As the uh, as the uh, uh, the developer guy I like these from Rob Delaney Peter from the Deadpool movies The second and third ones if you've seen those Or if you just know who Rob Delaney is Um, I would like to give a shout out I'd like to have wedding celebration coordinator for your friends, uh, Jill and Layton In the UK English wedding English wedding There were pictures from it On the internet and they had a steampunk wedding And they were dressed like uh, like pirates and victorian ladies and now it was It was magical It was it was in that the dragon hall, the hall of dragons No, what's on it? Are the crumbly what's its fancier at an english wedding? Oh, yeah Oh, yeah Did they come in like a fancy little like, you know, sometimes at your seat There's like a little things for the guests Yeah Is there like a little cellophane wrapper with like a fancy ribbon holding it together with the crumbly What's it? You know that phrase powdered my nose That's a direct What english wedding crumbly what's it? Well, you don't use your nose with the crumbly what's it so much? I mean the english do Huh It feels like an ineffective Means of disbursement in your in your system Well, you need to talk to them because that is how they do it I need to be fair. Yeah, it's one. It's it's an it's an american thing that the english have adopted Given their own name too. Yeah. Yeah. Like how they can't pronounce adidas Or aluminum. Yeah. Yeah. I'll give them aluminum because it's older They've been doing that a long time You just uh, you just got to listen to someone saying adidas wants to know that you're saying it wrong Oh, man. Now we need a real british person saying adidas We're gonna have to find it. We need a local british person. That's the problem Both last week and this week, we talked about british influence I feel like jaguar too is is weird how they say that because I believe that is also I'm not sure the the etymology of jaguar, but I I feel like it is not An anglicized word. I believe they're anglicizing it in a weird way Considering the jaguars generally are from like south america. They also don't know how to say z Yeah, well, they just think they they say they don't they don't want to they give it the proper name as opposed to the nickname Just Oh, yeah, that's where you threw luke skywalker up. Uh, sorry Our our special guest had a question about his lego set Yeah, so we just uh we're kind of it's a cool lego set listeners. It's a sort of lack that in case you're wondering I guess we mentioned it last week. We didn't mention it this week That's also where you can find out what crumbly what's it's our you need to know If you missed last week, you're gonna have to go back But contextually, I bet you can figure it out with the powdered the nose reference. It's drugs Yeah, yeah, but not nose drugs Not nose drugs related to nose drugs. Yeah, or is the bid to say your nose That is what they say. Yes. Yes, and it's how they say nose pushes up your nose Uh, you know, I I want to we had mentioned what we were talking about things we watched and we were watching the time bandit show Yeah, and that season wrapped up, but I have to say the the the the earl of sandwich character Was was one of my favorite parts It was just where you get shot in the duel. He's like, but i'm fine Because in my coat is I carefully concealed the sandwich that he pulls out just a perfect bullet hole through it Yes, it just killed me. Yeah, absolutely killed me. Yeah, I I really enjoyed the episode with man's amoosa too I thought that was quite a lot of fun. There's a lot of good stuff there I think Lisa cootro does a great job of pulling off the she does she holds it together That the group they're fun and I also like how the very Kind of moving their way into stuff That's a little more traditional to the movie with that new group that has shown up that we're working The screaming that almost seemed like the movie time bandits before they become time bandits Right. Well, I appreciated that. I I really appreciate it getting a sister into it too I think one of my favorite things is uh, and for those of you who haven't seen it There's not really any spoilers here, but uh, the the reveal of Susan Uh, like starts as just sort of a vague character that's referenced every once in a while And then gradually like yeah for for about Susan and then by the line out about her and then missing fiance Yeah, who was on uh, have you ever seen there was a show called wellington pd? Yes, it's the what the the captain it ends up being the the fiance is like oh that guy That's where I'd seen it before I knew he was familiar Uh, by the way, don't sleep on wellington pd either It's it's it is a goofy New zealand like x files in a way, but they're just like new zealand beat cops investigating paranormal crimes Yeah, it's wild and you just wait where they go to the party with ghosts They're all like we're not ghosts and they kind of turn the flashlight on them like now you see If you were alive, you would be the light would be passing you less translucent solid even Great Good show We talked we gave you all kinds of recommendations. Yep next week. Uh, we want a full report on what you watched Hashtag what I watched it's finals time Is finals time. Yeah, because we asked it for a report. Oh Like a final report. I got you. I got you. Excuse me It's the final countdown Stop flipping me off Oh, that's all of her flipping them off. Not me. I feel like I should probably clarify because it's probably not clear No, you're you're yeah Sorry, I was catching up on some notes. I should be saying double deuce, but i'm catching up on some no That's okay. We could just have a long awkward pause. Well, uh, vamp That's some good elevator-style dancing How long are you vamp for? I'm not I'm probably gonna put my pen down so Well, then oh, yeah, double deuce No, I feel like we gotta do we gotta build it up a little bit Uh double deuce better Double deuce no, no, no you just double this no Double deuce Maybe with feeling double deuce We'll work on it Double deuce Maybe we shouldn't work on it Double deuce double doos Double deuce Double deuce Double deuce Thanks for listening.
