Frightened Seafarers
The Bible tells us that when the storm arose on Jonah's journey, the mariners were afraid and cried every man unto his God, Jonah 1-5. We're not told just who or what those gods were, but we do know that they were useless to the sailors in their time of crisis. When things get desperate, you need something, some one you can really rely on. If your God is your intellect or philosophy or something rooted in Eastern mysticism, that God will do you zero good when the storm clouds gather and the waves of pain or loss or despair crash upon you. When times are tough, you need a personal, loving, caring God. You need the Creator God, the one with power enough to not only create storms, but to settle the storms in your life. Don't waste your time with gods that are not gods. The true God is willing to be real in your life today. I'm John Bradshaw for It's Is Written. (birds chirping)
