We've got Jay, we've got Jay Moore, we've got you. As we talk to you about the Bears and our victory over the Los Angeles Rams, if you got your chance to watch that game, if you're at Soldier Field, let's hear your thoughts as the Bears are now two and two on the season, winning 24 to 18, 3-1-2, 3-3-2, ESPN, 3-3-2-3-7-7-6, is our phone number. Also, you can follow us and watch us on YouTube, YouTube.com, look for ESPN Chicago. Also on Twitch, Twitch.tv/ESP1000Chicago. Well, Cap, a signature victory for the Bears, bouncing back from the game against Indianapolis, and the Bears go on to victory against the Rams 24 to 18. A lot to like, a lot to clean up. Fall start penalties, unacceptable, got to get them cleaned up, got to. But I thought it was Caleb's best game as a pro through four games. He was efficient when he, go back, Shay has it on his Twitter. It is the throw for the touchdown to DJ Moore. I mean, there's literally one inch of space to fit the ball in there. And he throws him a dime, bam, and then DJ does a great job. Secure it, get your feet down, touchdown Chicago. That's one, two, the throw to call Camette up the middle. Another really good throw and a really good catch. The heavy package with Doug Kramer in three tight ends, got Lewis, Everett, Camette, Doug Kramer at full back. Here comes Rochon into the end zone. It looked like Walter Payton going behind refrigerator Perry when he hit George Cumbie, the linebacker for the Packers, and knocked him into Wilmette. Walter walked in, flipped the ball of the referee. Thank you. And a phenomenon was born. Maybe this is the identity we've been searching for. Hit people in the mouth and let's go. Now clean up the nonsense. Some thoughts from Caleb Williams who talks to Jason McKee after every game here on ESPN 1000. Some thoughts about DJ Moore. Yeah, so I had a round concept to the left. I think it was Gerald and Rome. Rome took it inside release. Gerald had a safety over top and I believe it was a backer on him and didn't like that one. So just moved on with the progression. I knew backside the DJ either they were going to double him with the safety over top or that. He was going to be one-on-one with the back of the way that they were playing it with a two-high structure. So they ended up actually leaving DJ on a backer, which is unbelievable. Those are the type of matchups that you want and that you wish for. I've been able to get our first touchdown going and things like that. It's great. So those thoughts from Caleb Williams. I like that Caleb just seems comfortable and it's just the work in progress. He's played four games in the national football league and you know all these maniacs on social media ready to rush to judgments. Let's just let it play out. We have never developed a quarterback here. Never. Rex is our quarterback until he wasn't our quarterback. Jay 52 and 52 Mitch. No, blew up the whole plan how you were going to develop him. Justin put him in tough spots and then nope and now you got this kid. He's got a world of ability. He's loved by his teammates. Just keep developing him. Please, I'm begging you. Lot of firsts that took place yesterday, Cap. I mean, Rochon Johnson rushed for his first touchdown of the season and the second quarter. DeAndre Swift added his first touchdown of the season on a 36-yard run on the fourth to give the Bears a victory. Caleb Williams also tossed his first touchdown pass at home, connecting to DJ Moore in the third. So a lot of firsts there and it all comes with better communication and better results. I mean, you think about it. You spent a week talking about accountability, how the communications got to get better. Well, 264 total yards, 131 on the ground. Sounds like not only the communications right, but the execution was right against that Rams team. Yeah, and DeAndre Swift did his job. When he got opportunities like the touchdown run that he had, you see Coleman Shelton with a really good block. You see Cole Comette with a really good block. And then he hurdles one guy, makes a cut, gone. And you see Matt Pryor, 6, 7, 3, 30 running behind it with his fist in the air like, "It's going to the house, baby! Touchdown!" That was super cool to see. And then Caleb getting him the ball in space where he could do certain things. That's the guy we saw in Detroit and Philadelphia last year. When he gets the ball in space on a pass play like a screen or a dump off, he's really tough. Really tough. But as much as we've talked about Shane Waldron as an offensive coordinator, Cap, he can hold up his best drive as an offensive coordinator. Those 12 plays, 74 yards, almost 6 and a half minutes to get it done. He can hold that up and say, "Look at the array of plays that we put in there for a kid up to utilize to a victory." But that one right there, that tells you that, boy, that's good bears football right there. Running it, short passing game, Caleb being involved, it's all there. I thought that was very, very, very well done. There was also an overthrow down the right side to Roman Dunezay. Yeah. If you go back and watch it, because I did, a Dunezay gets held. I mean, it's clear as day, defensive holding, no call. And it would have been, if he doesn't get held, that's probably a touchdown. Caleb was asking for that call, too, and I think Mark Sanchez was joking. You're still a rookie. You'll get that call eventually, kid. Yeah. But it was- How about we just call the game? Throw the flag. It was absolutely a hold. And so it will get there. But as Waddle said to us last Wednesday, he's close. He's close. You could see plays, the DJ Moore play, which Tommy's correct, that the ball, I went back and pulled it up again. The ball's got to be, have a little more air under it. Sure. It's too hard and too flat. DJ also may have slowed down. Both things can be true. So there's going to be opportunities and you're going to start to see things and go, wow, where's that bit? It takes time. The production was great. And I want you to think about from this standpoint, Cap. You're a rookie quarterback. And even though it may not be telegenic or aesthetically pleasing, I don't mind the checkdowns, as long as you're moving the chains. I don't, look, you're going to run the football, but if you're going to have to pass it, I do not mind the underneath throws and the checkdowns and the screen concepts to be able to set up longer passes if it's there. Agreed. I have no problem with it. I know, listen, Cap, you get, I'm in the hood cave and I got three games going on at the same time, along with the red zone. And it's like, I see a lot of that checkdown. Some of the Bill Walsh nonsense like the, you know, the West Coast and check it down in five, five yards, because you're hoping for a tremendous run after the catch after those five-yard passes, six-yard passes. But as long as you have turned the ball over, I don't care. It was six and a half minutes. It seemed long, but it was effective. That's the NFL. I can see it across the screens all the time, like five yards here, four yards. Just keep the ball moving. That's all. I'd rather have that than for you to throw a 25-yard bullet pass into some DBs arms, just because it's in the playbook. You have to just feed him, Caleb, bit at a time, bit at a time. It'll open up, but don't give him the kid in Kaboodle and everything first. I know that's what Waldron wants. Correct. He'd rather be able to have these big sonic plays, these big-time Instagram play. It'll come, just win games. Just find a way to win, man. That's all. I don't care if you win, I mean, three nothing. It wouldn't be a lot of aesthetically pleasing football this weekend. But just find a way to get to three and two. Get to one and all this week. That's all you can control. That's it. Got to love Jaquan Brisker, though. Gotta love him. He's a beast. Got a penalty I did not like, but there's a lot of penalties I did not like in that game. Just like, the door was open for the Rams. They just didn't walk through it. It's a different show today at the Bears lose that game because even with the trusty Stafford as the quarterback cap, in the red zone going over three early, the interception late by Stafford, the penalties that the Bears had, I guess a good ball club. Bears probably don't win that game yesterday, but because the Rams are banged up and because they shot themselves a foot time and time again, thumbs up the Bears took advantage. Correct. But Brisker, I thought, had a great game and he spoke with J-Mac after the game as well. Really, we were very excited, really excited for the opportunity. We know that they were going to be a balanced offense because they had the best players out there who just had to read our keys and just play our defense. What has made this defense play at a high level consistently this entire year? You guys seem to come away at the right time with the takeaways. You almost had another one down there in the red zone. We'll make sure you guys continue to play at a high level. Just trusting each other, really, the chemistry we built over the years, just knowing where we're going to be and things like that. And just really wanting to get turnovers and fight for each other. So, have what made it come out on top? Break down the performance from your offense today. They seem to come alive this second half. Break down how excited you guys were defensively to see your offense move the ball and finish with touchdown drives. Get very excited. They see the confidence grow and things like that. And they got a lot of players back this week and they look very different. They came out with a lot of energy. You could tell in practice, they came out with a lot of energy and practice. So, it's very good for us and it gives them confidence. What has been the mindset of this team? You guys have faced a lot of criticism. Obviously, been in a lot of close games. There's been struggle at the time. But what has the mindset been of this team? Really just focused on us. I'm focused on the outside noise or anything like that. Just stay true to us. Just stay loyal to us and things like that. Don't really worry about too much and just get closer. Just keep getting closer and things like that. Just be as I saw it. It's so good, Cap, to see the other team on the other side of the field struggle. Yes. And not being able to execute and the Bears being able to capitalize. I mean, I was watching Sean McVay's press conference after the game. After Eva Flus and Caleb spoke. So, let me flip over here. And then Rams, Rams, boom. Click in, see what's going on there. McVay was just so pissed at just like the little things. Talking about the red zone issues and the protection on the sack fumble. The miss field goal, that also was a factor in the game, as you recall. I'm just glad that the Bears able to capitalize on these things. There's two takeaways, you know, from the Bears. Tori Taylor and his great punts. I'm just glad that the Bears able to capitalize on some of their miscues. When you said he talked about the protection issues on the strip sack. By Montesack. On the sack fumble, yeah. Okay. Is he taking a shot at his own line coach or his himself? Because Sanchez correctly pointed out, you're trying to block him with a wide rookie wide receiver and a tight end. What are you doing? That's what we do. Right. I'm like, this is what the Bears do. You want the Andre Carter for a play? Yeah. That's what we did. So, this stuff goes on around the league. It's not just us. And we think that McVay is top shelf when it comes to head coaches. Who he is. But then there's always the detail, right? He goes back and look at the film, he's on the plane, actually. Looking at the film, going back to Los Angeles and you're like, oh son of a bitch. That's what I was right there. It was right there. Right. I'm just glad that the Bears capitalize. That's good. It's because you build on that. Let's say in Carolina is a pushover, but at least you have a win in your back pocket. Now you just keep moving in the right direction. That's it. Get to want to know this week. Whatever by hook or by crook. Show progress and get to want to know this week. That's it. There are two. What ifs when it comes to Chicago Bears football? One. Could the Bears beat the LA Rams with two? Tom Brady is a bear. On cap and J-hood. You're capping J-hood on back. Appreciate you guys. I listened to you streaming on ESPN 1000 app. Chicago's home for sports. ESPN. Chicago. On the 36 of the Bears for Matthew Stafford under center. Kyron Williams the back. Motion, track well. You don't have to call. You just listen to the Bears games right here on ESPN 1000. Lance Briggs scheduled a join us coming up at 935. Here on ESPN 1000. Get a chance to go into the grades of Lance for the offensive defensive special teams. Let's find out what the professors grades are. Wake them up. Shae. Get them ready. In entertainment. Be well, we'll find out. As I said, if you notice, schedule the join us. I said, yeah, I didn't plug it. Shae, I didn't plug it. Damn. I just said, schedule the join us. Correct. Lance will be with us. 935. How much won bet? All right. That's how we turn now to Tom Brady. I bet you the best steak yet. No, um, we might have been through that once. Poor Cappy. 84 wins. So Matt or no. 83 83 wins. You didn't even hit your wind total over. What was the number? 83 and a half. That's why God made Tuesdays. We'll talk about tomorrow. And even the night. What if Tom Brady comes playing tonight? You try to get even tonight. What's that? There's two Monday night games. Oh, I see. The tiny wood special. The two Monday night games. Love it. So the Tom Brady, uh, who I don't know about you, Shae. Again, it's about being comfortable as a broadcaster. Saying things that normally other broadcasts would not say. You put a little burn a saddle all of a sudden you get the intense Tom Brady. So let's, it's two things with Tom. Tom Brady could have been a Chicago bear. Think about that. That was a big headline that almost interrupted all the proceedings around the NFL. When that came out, it was like, wait a minute. The hell with the games? Hold on. Ho, ho, ho. Brady could have been a bear. I won't always think it's just about the money, but you were showing this this last night. I thought it was so cool. It's how you made your choice. So I brought, I brought these, I saw them at the house and I said, you know, I'm bringing these to show KB and there was a lot of reasons to choose Tampa and I made about 18 criteria. Why? And there was things all the way from the salary, obviously, to the weather, to the facilities, to the how great the players were. And ultimately, Chicago was a team and I've never told that story before. They were very stealth in their recruitment. I was seriously considering. But in the end, it came down to Tampa and it was close to my son, Jack. I love Bruce Arians and the role that he played in offense and ultimately, the great players like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin's that I'm still out there watching today. Cap, I need your help if you don't mind. Just for a second, need your help. Could you look up the year that Brady could have been a bear? Yeah, I think it was 2020. It was after a bad 2019 season. So the pandemic year. Yeah. Is that the way Ray didn't know how many downs it were that year? Yeah, we beat him that year. Four, he didn't know it was going to fall down. No, that was four down. Sorry. His deal with the bucks. Yeah, two year, $50 million deal 2020, 2021. Okay. So, Cap, he had a criteria, you said, right? Okay. So what we should do is take a look at what he would have worked with. Okay. If he would have considered the Chicago Bears because he had a lot of things he laid out there. But did he look at the roster and then looked at Bruce Arians in the Tampa Bay bucks and say, this would be better. So he'd be working with David Montgomery as a running back. Yep. Pretty good kid. Pretty good kid. AM, Anthony Miller, on one side, Alan Robinson, the other. Back in the league, by the way, Alan Robinson. You see that? No. Okay. Back in the league. Yeah, with all the injury. Now Xavier were the, not Xavier, were she right? It looks like blue as ACL. So they're going to need a receiver. So AM and Alan Robinson, Jimmy Graham and Cole Comett, a rookie Cole Comett at tight end. Who wouldn't want Jimmy Graham? Even as a bear, Cap, he still, you put him in the right position in the goal line. He could have been able to be something for Tom Brady. Correct. Your offensive line with Charles Leno. Have you seen this? Have you seen this? You've seen this? Not that Leno, but Charles Leno. James Daniels, Cody White here. Tremaine Effetti and Bobby Massey. Cap, how many wins for Brady with that group? What the bears win that year? Eight? I think they win eight, Nate. Uh, that's correct. That's correct. Yes. Eight, Nate. Yeah, lost to the Saints. Under Nagi. Now that's not, let me just say, Shay, these, these weapons of Alan Robinson and Jimmy Graham, we'll just use those two, are some of the better weapons that Brady would have had his career. Like proven weapons. You want to say it? You want to take a shot at Jimmy Graham, solid tight end? Well, are you saying better weapon that Brady would have had his career? Because I had Rob Gronkowski for 10 years. Well, he would have brought Gronk with him. That would have changed things for me. Are you sure? If Gronk were on this team instead of Jimmy Graham, yeah, that would move me. No, that's not what I'm sure. That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking are you sure that Gronkkowski would have went with Brady to Chicago? Yes. But we don't know that. He'd have gone wherever town was going. Natural sure. But then why receive a spot with Anthony Miller and Alan Robinson? That's what I'm talking about, Shay. He had Randy Moss. For a year, for a cup, for a cup of coffee. Yeah, Mike Gavin, Chris Scott was a first year in New England. Do you say Anthony Miller? Yeah, Anthony Miller and the Tampa weapons are miles. Absolutely. I understand that. But I mean, I think that you should know about your Patriots history. Because you're a fan. You do know that, again, there weren't game-breaking wide receivers. That's saying that these guys are. But in Alan Robinson, for Tom Brady, that would work. That would work. The whole thing. The whole, all of Tom's legacy is he made players better. Because Belichick did not think that ace wide receivers was good for the offense. It was about the lines, offensive defensive lines. That was his legacy. Tom could make others better. That were underachievers. Is that not Tom's legacy? That's true. At least one of the things. That's true. Guys that were not game breakers and all pros. He was like, "You know what? This is what I work with. We're going to get it done." But I got Gronkowski. That'll help. Here's the other... You don't think much of Brandon LaFell hooding? Who? Norman Felly said. Yeah. Three's company. Three's company. Yes. Here's the other thing. Do you remember Brady making a quote a couple of years ago when he goes, "Yes, I went through it." They're sticking with this. Am I going to be blank? Remember that? Yeah. Is he talking about Mitch? Yeah. Oh my goodness. I think we just put the dots together. Well, it can't be because he said that he wanted... He was close to choosing Chicago and ultimately didn't. It doesn't feel like the bears were the side that said no. Right. So many nationally think he's somehow Garoppolo. With the Raiders. That's who I think it is. Well... I thought that it had been diagnosed Ryan Fitzpatrick. That's so funny. Wasn't he in Miami? Yeah. Wasn't that the thing that Brady wanted to be in Miami and Ryan Fitzpatrick was in Miami? But also wanted to be out west too. And there was the Raiders thing with Derek Carr. People thought it was Derek Carr. Right. What if it was Mitch? But Garoppolo was San Francisco. Did Brady want to be a 49er too? That's very... I think... I thought it was Garoppolo. And then I heard him saying this thing and then I'm like, oh my bear's finished second, but they wanted him. Remember they tried to trade for Russell Wilson. They tried to sign Tom Brady. And in the end they traded up to get Justin. This has to be on the record at some point. He's done playing. He's a broadcaster. This has to be on... Who are you talking to? Who are you talking about? Mitch? You're sticking with Mitch over me? I don't think so. Garoppolo over me? I'm just asking the question. Fitzpatrick over me. Like... I always thought it was Garoppolo. I think that's interesting. Or Derek Carr. But the question still stands. Brady on the Bears. Platinum? Well, when I just laid out for you, the offensive line and the weapons. Montgomery will run a football hard. Alan Robinson, Anthony Miller. Yes. With that defense? Yeah. You still had that defense. Yes, they're a playoff team. Okay. 'Cause just for a refresher, this is the good old days. But... of Acheem Hicks and Balol Nichols, Ed Nosed, and Khalil Mack, Rokwan Smith, Danny Trevathan, Robert Quinn, Fuller Johnson, Tashon Gibson, and Eddie Jackson. Yeah, the thing is, I was told that even the owner in Tampa, which snapped to attention when Tom walked in. And that... Tom made it clear. If I'm coming there, I'm calling a lot of the shots here. And how's that work at Lake Forest? Right. So he comes in and goes, I'm bringing it drunk. And we're doing this. And here's the type of things we're going to do offensively. And that's the deal. If you want me, that's the price. It's not the money part of it. It's the control part of it. Like, I told you, somebody who's got a friend who works in the football side of things there said, "Dude, when you come to work, it's his way." And if you... He goes, "You just snapped to attention." Even the owner. Yeah. Oh, Tom's here. Better be ready to go. He said, "That's just the way it is." And it's not for everybody. But like Tom said, when he was blasted Baker Mayfield, you want to win or not? So... So Michael Jordan said, "That's fine. That's fine. Want to be pushed the way I pushed you?" That's fine. I'm about championships. So does he make the coaching change, Brady? He becomes in, "I can't work with this guy." Oh, Negi? Yeah. No shot. How do that work with him? The guy was getting coffee for Andy? No shot. Yeah, but Patrick Mahomes idolizes Negi. Maybe... Maybe there's... I said Tom Brady. Right, but maybe Brady says, "Matt, here's what we're changing." Blah, blah, blah. We're doing this, that, and the other thing. And he's got Gronk there, and he's got this guy there. I'm like, "Who knows?" He's telling Negi to get out of the way. Yes. Step aside. I'll help. I'll put my fries in the bag. Step aside, pal. Correct. But I've got this cool Santa slate. Yeah, what? We're not doing that here. Get out of the way. Lady! Lady! Easy, easy, easy, easy. Santa's! Our offense looks so much better. Yeah. Brady controlling everything in Hellsall. That would be unbelievable. Excuse me. Who's that? That's George McCasky. Get up. They've had Matt and Aggie in the Silence of the Lamb's Hole. Brady's just dropping meals. It rops the lotion. I just could just envision it. Now he's got, just like Walter and all these offensive genies. They've got this voluminous playbook. They want to show how genius they are. And Tom's like, "See all these rings? I don't need your genius. Just step out of the way." You want a ring or not? That's the price. See these ten plays? Just call out one. My plays. From New England. Thanks. Exactly. Oh, okay. Whatever you say Tom, we just want to win. We've got this family from Waukesha. That's good. The hell with that family? Have Alan do it. I'm trying to work. Next! All right Tom, whatever you say. Yes sir. There's this family from Carpentersville that'd love to have your autograph. Autographs. 350. That's Tom Brady, man. He's just focused on work. That's his nonsense. Don't sing my name. You know, I don't put me in this nonsense. I just want to win. That would be interesting. Oh, doctor Tom Brady. You talk about the culture changing quick, man. But then what happens to Bill Laser? Coming up. As he feels seeing that spot. Remember that, right? Yes. Bill Laser. Three-yard passes. Going backwards. We lived that nightmare, you know. That was such a stupid thing. Will you give up play calling to Bill Laser? Bill Laser sucked. I mean, what are we doing here? Lance Briggs is coming up next on Cap and Jay Hood. [Music] The great Lance Briggs joins us here on Cap and Jay Hood on this Bears Victory Monday. Lance, good morning. How are you? It's so good, gentlemen. It's so good. They get a W Lance. I thought it was Caleb's best game of the four that he's played. Not the most passing yards, but we went back and watched the all 22 view of the touchdown of DJ Moore. I mean, he had like three inches of space to fit the ball in there. And somehow he delivered and it got a touchdown. And the Bears win. They ran the heavy jumbo package at the goal line. Good things to take away. Cap, I didn't recognize our team out there. Okay. Let's line it up in eye formation with the lead blocker movement. Tight end up there just to lead up. Get into the second level. You know, with zone, I think it's with zone as well as they did. And when everybody was saying, okay, maybe it's time to give up on this guy. Why do we pay an eight million dollars? Then all of a sudden, we got Swissies all over the place in Chicago. Wow, it was happy. It looked good. They've really been protected. Caleb by running the ball, you know, Swift had 165 all-purpose yards. And for me, that's the way to go. You do what you have to do so that you can do what you want to do later. I think that Taylor Swift has like to have a word with you about that Swiftie talk. And I think that's trademarked. Be careful. Be careful. I care about you. There's a lot more Taylor Swifties than there are. I agree with y'all. I just said, just I care about you. I just don't want you to get sued by the other Swifties. But yeah, that, I mean, Lance and Cap and I talked a lot about it already this morning. Just, you know, the elixir to the offensive problems is you're trying to be able to run the football. I just want to get your thoughts about Caleb Williams overall. Do you feel like he's getting better week after week? And if there's something specific, tell us that what stands out about his play. I think you're getting better. You know, I've never thought that that is the talent is the problem. That's not the problem. There were what bothers me probably the most is the, there's overthrow. You know, there were opportunities for him to, DJ Moore, and it was, you know, it's the number one pick. I'm thinking that ball, when you have an opportunity to throw it, that ball's going to fall right where it needs to. You know, and on at least two occasions, it sailed out of reach of the wide receiver. Now this is four weeks now that I've seen over throws from our number one pick. So that's a little alarming for me. But other than that, you know, how he handles the pressure and all that good stuff. I think he is progressing and doing better every week. You know, and if two over throws were the thing that alarmed me the most, then we're going to be all right. So I got to ask you, as a guy who played a lot of years in the National Football League, seven times to the Pro Bowl, all of that stuff. When you hear that Caleb, Mercedes, Lewis, DJ Moore, and Cole, Komet had a private meeting with Shane Waldron and said, one, you got to coach us harder. Two, we got to start running downhill and smashing people in the mouth and have an identity. And then DJ comes out after game and says, that dude coached us way harder. He was holding people accountable during the game when they made mistakes. As a veteran player, do you think that stuff is overblown by the media? Or they truly take it to heart? Because I know you did it in your career. No, I think, I think in today's football, you know, you have, I think there's more analytics than there is. Understanding that, you know, how to lead men. And it's a very difficult arena for a coach to demand, you know, what he needs of players that a lot of them make more money than he does. However, you still have to find a way to do it, you know, and so there's this deal where you have all these great minds and be in a fail, okay? But can those minds lead men? You know, and so when you also have good leadership, leadership takes accountability and says, okay, this is what needs to happen for us to be successful. You know, you're paying me good money, coach me up. Coach me up, tell us what we have to do. You know, and hold us accountable, hold us to the flame when our fingers are too close to the burner, you know, so I like what I heard. It was a little alarming to hear it because of what probably happened leading up to that meeting. However, the fact that they have addressed it and you saw some change is important. Now, let's see if that continues down the road. More with Lance Briggs right around the corner on the Captain J. Hood Morning Show. Follow Chicago's Home for Sports on Twitter at ESPN1000. Cap and J. Hood are back on ESPN Chicago, Chicago's Home for Sports. Briggs. Lance Briggs with us every Monday and after every Bears game right here on Captain J. Hood on ESPN1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. Lance, let's take a look at your grades for the defense. I said, this is the Jaquan Brisker game, but there's some things that we saw from Dexter Senior and from Montes, what that stood out. So what's your letter grade overall for the defense? Well, the professors have looked at the professors happy this week. There were at least 10 negative plays through stacks, tackles for losses, seven tackles for losses throughout the defense. They were very impressive. Held the Rams to 18 points. However, they did give up 203 passing yards. It was a three yards over and 119 rushing yards. It was 19 over what the goal is. So the professor is going with a B minus for the defense. All right, great game, not perfect, but great. In terms of what you saw from Caleb Williams, again, through for 100 and whatever, but took care of the football, what was the most impressive thing you saw from him as he's continuing this growth pattern over four weeks? It didn't turn the ball over. Dolphins did not turn the ball over. That's something that has been a problem for us offensively over the last couple of years. You know, we've done some good things offensively, but then giving the ball away has just been a batbreaker for us. So the fact that we haven't, we didn't turn the ball over, and he's been protecting the ball, my opinion extremely well. That spells opportunities for us for the Bears. You play good defense, you play good special teams, and your office doesn't turn the ball over. You don't while they're finding their pace or finding their groove. Once they find their groove, Hell, you know, sky's the limit. Okay, so as we take a look at the running game and the offensive line cap, I just think that I must say that the Bears have found a formula, but I just think that it feels good to be able to run the football, and hopefully they can do it well again. These next few games that you have off defensive lines are not very good. This one here, and then the next mute got to Carolina and then Jacksonville. Yeah, you still should be able to run the football effectively, right? You should be able to run the ball downhill, smash people in the mouth and get back to Bears football. So Lance, I don't ever want to hear again. Khalil Herbert is our short yardage back, and we're going to try this sprint speed option outside. No, no, no, no, do what works. It rubs Chicago in the wrong way. It rubs us all the wrong way. And just it's a bad feel that this isn't the right city for that play. Yeah, but here's the other thing. We had Ibra Flusan an hour and a half ago, and we asked him about, did you just put that in this week with Doug Kramer? Oh, no, that's been instant training, Kim. So what I should have said to him was, but I don't want to, you know, whizzing the guy's Cheerios after a win. Then where the hell was that? Well, the expectation of Ibra Flusan's responses is that it all time low. Okay, we don't expect a whole lot from his responses, and we're going to dissect it like we always do, and we're going to find some more to find hold here and there. You know, the best thing we can say about Ibra Flusan's congratulations on the W. All right, defense looks great. Offense, but I'm glad to see that they were kind of unrecognizable by running the power offense that they ran. We were successful. Let's do it again. Yeah, Lance, but I'd like to know what your grade was for the offense in the first half versus the second half. I'm sure that you already had a letter grade in mind. It is four quarters, but at first quarter, it kind of looked like the same. Did it not? Yeah, but it's going to take time. You know what I mean? I'm what we saw with the commitment. We saw with the commitment to a power run. You know, like I said, Caleb had an opportunity to hit O'Douffe, Adouffe in the end, though, should have had at least two, possibly three touchdown thrown, but he overthrew him. And so that would have also affected that grade as well. As a whole, let's put it all together because you've got to have got to play four quarters. Yes. Offensively, it's going to be probably their highest grade of the year. Why my professor's going with a B plus. Oh, and by the way, the O'Douffe's day overthrow. He got held and there was no call. They go back and watch the tape clear his day. Did you not hear his grade though? He gave him a B plus. He did. It's the highest grade of the year. Is that his grade here? Hopefully, hopefully it continues. Keep it going. Keep it going, Lance. Why don't we get you back in here in the building with us? Oh, I'd love to be there. I would love to be there, you know, and next week I'll be there with you. No worries. All right, we're holding you to that. We enjoy your company. Thank you. Thanks, dad. Thank you. Hey, I also want to make sure that I do got a text and I give a shout out to white boy Rick. Hey, Rick loves you. My guy. Okay. I know you're hearing this. All right. Miss those weddings. All right. White boy, Rick, you said. So, shout out to white boy. Okay. All right. That'll be all, Lance. Thanks so much for your time. Thanks for calling GCI with your shout outs. Thank you. Let's see you next week. Rattle, rattle, thunder, batter, boom, boom, boom. Don't worry, call the car next night. White boy, Rick. The arms dealer? I don't understand what that was. Sideburn, my approach. It's brought to you by anger law. Three, one, two, six million. I'm my boy. For the great Howard Anken. That's how that goes. Basketball Hall of Famers, it can be a Matumbo, it's passed away. What? At the age of, I'm not done, at the age of 58, due to brain cancer. Oh, God. So, you think about a great rebounder, a time all-star, and someone who brought people together. You talk about just the global game that is basketball cap in Africa. Matumbo did a great job. We know him as a great basketball player, but in his post career, someone that was great to just bring the game. We were more global into Africa in the area. So, 58 years old, just vibrant and funny. Sound like Cookie Monster. Just like, he was just a great personality to the game, and he passed away. Our deepest 70s, he was a hell of a player, man. Can I also give you one update from the show? Okay. I put into the Google machine. Do people still use Stuart? Stuartus. Google says, "By the end of the 1970s, the term Stuartus had generally been replaced by the gender-neutral alternative flight attendant." Yeah. That's about right. Time-wise. Stuart, if you want to use the mail version. Still calling him Stuartus. That's about the end of the 1970s. Here we are in 2024. The Stuartus! Wow. Give me a martini, kid. Take that. Nice gams. Hmm. Hoodie, now he just calls him Sweetheart. He's graduated to Sweetheart. Excuse me. Hot and smooth. Hot and smooth coffee here. Oh, god. Night end of the 1970s. Wow. Cap still call him Stuartus. Flight attendant, Cap. Flight attendant. And I was disappointed. Yeah. I will make sure to note that. We thank you for listening and calling in. A big part of our Bears' Bud Day. Our thanks to Shane and Jaymore. We'll do this again tomorrow at 7. Let's do it, baby. So long, everybody. Take that. From Chicago.
