Two and two with the victory as Soldier Field yesterday. - Johnny, that was a must have victory. And it was done in the fashion that Ryan Polls drew it up. His quarterback was efficient, didn't take chances with the football, didn't turn over the football. I thought that was his best game to date. No, it wasn't 363 yards like a week ago. It was more pedestrian in terms of numbers, but when he had to make a big throw in a big spot, whether that's to Cole Comette with a laser beam right down the seam, first down. And to touchdown to DJ Moore, and if you go to Shay's Twitter at Shay Norling, it was, he had a window of about the size of an envelope to fit the ball in. Defender was right there. Boom, time right in the hands, touchdown. DJ got the feet down, touchdown Chicago. And then thank you, Shane Waldron. DJ Moore said after game, this dude was getting after people throughout the game for the fall starts or the this or the coaching him hard. Good, then you listened to what your leadership committee told you. But what I really liked is we're gonna smash you in the mouth and we're gonna put Doug Kramer at full back. Good luck, three tight ends on that set. I went back and watched it again. Three tight ends, Everett, Lewis, Comette, and Doug Kramer. We are running right at you. Good luck trying to stop it. Roshawn Johnson finds Pader. - Without having a full back in place with Blasting Game, it was good to see Kramer with an opportunity to help the ball club. It is a team after all, Cap, it is a team. - Correct. - Like we mentioned it a couple of days ago, all hands on deck, offense, defense, special teams, whatever it takes, you need to win a football game. And the Bears did that on Sunday. For me, Cap, this is going to be entitled the Jekwan Brisker game. This is what it is for me because you had the game winning interception. He was able to get unencumbered to the quarterback and was able to get a sack there. Stafford did not feel the heat. And Brisker went right there off the line. Boom, right there a sack. Then we had 12 tackles as well. I'll remember this game as the Jekwan Brisker game because for a guy that made an egregious penalty, he bounced back. And a game, by the way, marred with a lot of ridiculous penalties by the Chicago Bears and some undisciplined. We will give Brisker a lot of credit for coming back from that penalty that he had and really made a difference for the Bears defensively. - Yeah, and he should have had two picks in the game, but he didn't reestablish his second foot on the first interception in the end zone. - Yeah. - So he stepped out of bounds in the way the rule reads, just for everyone so we're clear, you have to reestablish two feet in the field of play and then you can make the play. If you touch the ball before you do that, then it is not an interception. It was simply an incomplete pass. Super cool though to watch how hard he was hitting and to watch the way the Bears, that defensive line, got after Stafford, harassed him. They made it tough and that's a talented offensive team missing Cooper Cup, Puke and Akua. So when they get them back, they will be a better team, but I thought the Bears offensively took care of the football and as I said, I thought that was Caleb's best game. - Let's talk about what you just mentioned before, talking about the DJ Moore touchdown. I think that the glimpse into the present and the future for the Bears offense, the way the Bears went down the field surgically, going down the field and getting that touchdown from Williams to DJ Moore. Just the mixture of running the football, short passes, Caleb on the run as well. All of that I think is shows you that the Bears can score with time, be able to confuse the defense. I think they did a great job. That particular drive gave me solace to think, well, that's a bright future here. - Well said, DeAndre Swift, we haven't even mentioned him. He did something we haven't seen since, I believe he was a Michigan state grad, Jeremy Langford in 2015, 70 rushing or more, 70 receiving or more. He did that yesterday. He ran the ball with authority. They ran between the tackles instead of stringing this guy out, run and wide. And then the touchdown, there's a really good block by Cole Comette who you can see laying on the ground. He's got his fist up like, that's gone. That's going to the house. A really good job by Coleman Shelton on that play with a really good block. And then DeAndre Swift did all the rest. Caleb, as I said, very efficient with the football when he had to make a big throw in a big spot, he delivered and the Bears win. - 165 all-purpose yards for DeAndre Swift was 93 yards rushing and 72 yards receiving. That's all good for DeAndre Swift to guide those much maligned and rightfully so, the first three games of the season where he's like, "Hey man, find a hole, get a hole, be able to get in an opportunity to help this team offensively." And less than two yards a game was not getting it done. I'll say this, Cap, you didn't necessarily pay him to do what he did yesterday, but he did a lot. He did a lot to be able to help a young quarterback. Not only run the football, but just on the short yardage game. You know, for some, they would say that the short passes, like the new run, well, the run is the run. But the short passing game also is almost like a run as well. - Yeah, no question about it. When we started the game and they threw that wide receiver screen or out, a little dump off to DJ Moore. - Yeah. - I'm like, "Ah, here we go again." Can we get DJ down the field, please? A little. - Vertical. - Yeah. - A little. And then when they started to run the ball effectively, just stay with it, just keep hammering them hard. And Caleb Williams, when he hit the throw in the middle of the field to Cole Comette, that thing was a laser beam. Great throw, great catch. All right, here we go. And then the play, I'm like, "Whoa, wait a minute. "That's Tom Cramer back there. "What are we doing?" Oh, let's do this. I thought, please don't be a decoy and then throw the football. Just run it at him. Bam, Roshan Johnson. Into the end zone. I have a question for you though. You're the man in charge of the audio board there, right? - Yeah. - Right. - As Flus would say, and he'll be with us at 8.20, right? Did you not play a cut last week where Shane Waldron said, "Our short yardage back is Kaleel Herbert." - Believe so. - Yes. - He had exactly zero carries yesterday. - Yeah? - So I want to know who performed the code red. Who performed the code red from a few good men on coach Waldron? Because all of a sudden, this fascination with running Kaleel Herbert between the tackles inside the five went by by. - Let's go, mate. - Yeah, okay, maybe it was you. Maybe it was, I think it was more like Ryan Polls and then leadership committee got to him to perform the code red. We're not running that dude in there. That's what he got exactly zero carries. And Roshan Johnson tough yards got it first down. Let's go. They ran the Doug Kramer play in the middle of the field. First down again. Thank you. Get an identity. Let's go. - Well, you know what that is, cap? That's coaching. - Yes. - That's adjustment coaching for week to week. We did not do well enough as a coaching staff to put the players in a position to win against the Colts. So why don't we try this wrinkle? I mean, this is not not foreign to you. You've done it a lot as a coach. Like, okay, we tried this, we believe in this, but it's not quite what we want. The results are not there. So why don't we try this. So let's try this. - Yes. - So I mean hats off to try something new, something different. 24 18, a win for the Chicago Bears. And how do they do it? Because they didn't do the same old same old. - Correct. - They didn't say what it, they didn't stay what it to. Well, my playbook says this. Is this what we started off in training camp? Well, clearly it's not working because the running game was constipated for a while here until yesterday's game. - Yep. - It was start and stop, could not find a hole. And again, the offensive line, we just wanna let you guys know this morning. If you watch the game, it's still not fixed. There's still issues with this offensive line. I mean, happy for the victory. But again, because it's just a bunch of moving parts here, guys out of position and all this other stuff, it has to be fixed, but I was just happy to see the running game work. And also some time for Caleb Williams to throw. So that means that week after week it's getting better despite some of the issues around the offense. - Yeah, Kevin Jenkins go down in game. - That's tough. - That's tough. He's your most talented offensive lineman. But they were better when he went out, some guys stepped up. Matt prior to see him on the DeAndre Swift run, he got a block and then he's running in the middle of the field with his fist up leg. That's gone. - Yeah. - Like it was cool to see the emotion. Guys fired up the way they're playing. So again, it's one game. Now you gotta get to wanna know this week against a team you should beat. In your building, you should beat the Carolina Panthers. So let's worry about this week. I don't care about London or the bye week or anything. This week get to one and oh, that's all you gotta do. - And also the game ball. You think Brisker, Swift, Caleb? Nope. It goes to Marc Sadie's Lewis. - Love it, my guy. Love that dude. Think about it. - It's a team victory, right? There's only so many times you do this now. Okay. This is for Big Dog. Hey, two out of 72 games. (crowd cheering) - There you go. And then he spoke. He was awesome. Nobody had rather do this with blah, blah, blah. It was. - Football is my life, you know what I'm saying? I've done a lot of those outside of this, but I had nothing better than experiencing victory with Charlie, right? Everything we talked about during the week showed up today. Now we can look in that mirror. - Right. - We are who we know we are, right? - Right. - So the big part of it is it's coming back next week and doing it again, right? - Right. - Anybody could do this once, man. Anybody, what's special on here, man? You gotta believe it, right? - Right. - You said, you gotta believe it. What's special, we work hardest. We deserve this. Right? It's not by accident. I'm so grateful, man, to be at this point in my life, 40 years old. - Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, my spirit, we always have a high state of mind, and whatever it is that we're doing, every single day, so we show up authentically. - Hey. - Every single day. Let's get in here and bring it in tight. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Hey, hey, hey, family, what you doing? - Hey. - Hey. - Apparently, J-Mores in there with Kevin Hartz. - Yeah. - Listen, hey, what's going on? - The best is, he's using right, like, flu shoes is wrong. I'm like, wow. - That's what you do, man. You just fire it up. You don't know what you're saying. You know, as he reflues, it's, as Marz says, they're just fired up, that's all. You don't know what they're saying. It's not a speech, it's just from your heart. It's whatever comes out, right? It's so cool. - Right. - I loved in that room. - Oh, man. - So, let's get your thoughts here on a Bears Victory Monday, 3-1-2-3-3-2, ESPN 3-3-2-3-7-7-6, which you loved and what the Bears still need to work on, with the Bears winning 24-18. A game that you should be able to win against the right bank of Rams team and the Bears come through winning 24-18. There was just a lot of emotion going into this game because if you fall to one in three, now you're starting to doubt everything. Then the talk is, oh, are we gonna get a coaching change or the OC getting fired? You had to win this game. Again, the word must win. That's usually reserved for elimination games. Must win or you're out. But this was as close as it gets. You needed to find a way to win and they did. So now go back to work, get healed up, figure out your offensive line issues, clean up some of the undisciplined fall start stuff. Some of that from everything I was hearing after the game and a couple of calls that I made, some of it is on the old line, yes. But some of it, they said it's just getting comfortable with the cadence that Caleb brings. It's a different cadence that Justin brought, or then Mitch brought, or that Tom Brady would have brought had we gotten that deal down apparently. But it's a great step. - It is a great step, Cap. But again, for this Chicago Bears team that has, so suppose again, be better than what they have been in the past, some of those pre-snapped penalties and those things, that can't happen. You wanna do that against a good team? See how you unfair? - Correct. - We had blocked by Braxton Jones, first in 25. What a great way to start the game, Cap. Oh, that, first in 25. First in 25? - Wait, what are you doing? - I get tired of watching the Bears starting first in 15. Like, first in 10, then as a penalty. Now it's first in 15, second in long. Get tired of that, 'cause that's not good for the offense, but definitely not good for a rookie quarterback. - No, you're putting him behind the sticks. And now he's like, all right, let's see if we can pick up five yards here. Then we can pick up another eight, now we're in a third and seven. I'm like, what are we doing here? Come on, we can't make these mistakes. The other thing is, in going back and watching before I went to bed last night, I re-watched like the condensed version for a while. The Braxton Jones is not the answer right now, left tackle for me. He's not strong enough. He doesn't have a wide enough base. You see how many times he's upright, and he gets driven back toward the quarterback. - You gotta have a mauler at left tackle. - I agree, but to Ryan Poles, he's just been that really solid underdog. He's rooted for a fifth round draft pick that held his own, but like anything else, you look for upgrades on your roster. And Poles sees it, I think the way that we see it, that he likes what he has, but I know that he wants to do more. - Yes. - So I get it. It's always been an underdog situation at left tackle. It's just that the general manager's always thought, I like him, he's a gamer. He's pretty scrappy. - Yeah, but you need some size and an ass back there. So an anchor. - I agree. - Yeah, so that's important, man. Like across that line, especially at the ends, left and right tackle, you want to have, like I said, a mauler, big guy in there, the immovable object at left tackle. - Somebody who's got, you know that, a year ago talks about all the time, heft in the backside where, man, he gets a wide base. You ain't moving that dude. This guy gets too upright, and then next thing you know, he's being driven back into the quarterback. - We'll hear from Caleb Williams coming up at 7.30. Matt, he refludes the head coach for the Bears at 8.20 right here on Captain J. Hood. Let's go to the phone lines and talk to you. You heard our thoughts. We have more, but we want to get to your thoughts as well, Bears fans. On this Bears Victory Monday, as the Bears defeat the Rams, 24 to 18. Los Angeles, California. Co, listing on the ESPN Chicago app, is on Captain J. Hood. Co, good morning. - Hey, good morning, fellas. How are we doing? - What's up there, cookie? - Doing good, doing good, man. Hey, happy victory Monday, man. So, real quick, just a couple of thoughts on my end. I owe, sorry, Taylor, a big apology, 'cause I called him out a couple of weeks ago, like, "Dang, we drafted a punter in the fourth round. We could have had an old lineman." - The kid is special. He flipped the field several times for us, which was definitely helpful after all those penalties. 64-yard punt. I mean, he just doesn't need any better to get that. The other things that I liked were the, there was a couple of times that Caleb got out of the pocket and ran for a few yards. I think that that's gonna be important to his game, because everybody knows he likes to throw from the pocket. So, just to switch it up, shout out to Shane Wilder. What I'm looking for personally is consistency on the offense. I need consistently good play calling. Even if we lose the game, I need the play caller to call a good game consistently. More than two and three times. 'Cause I'm sicker in the bad, get it right for one or two games, and then four game losing streak, so. - And by the way, Ko, you're not compliant, but a question about having an offensive lineman in the draft, they got one, but I understand your point. You're saying, hey, imagine if you had someone that you could plug in right away on that offensive line. But again, with Tori Taylor, I had no problem with Taylor being drafted, because if I tell a cap, you need to have the best across the board, offense, defense, and special teams. If he's the best punner on the board, you take him. And look what he did there. He looked like a golfer out there. - Oh, man. Like the way he gets it to hit and kick back, I'm like, how do you do that? - Pretty strong. - Pretty strong. So. - All right, guys, have a great day. - Have a good day out there in LA. - All right, we put your telephone call. We say hello to Lewis, who's on the road. He's with us here on Cap and Jay Hood. - Lewis, good morning. - Hey, good morning. - Hey, good morning, guys. Always love to talk to you after a, well, I don't enjoy talking after a lot, but I love talking to you guys after a win. There were a couple of things in my life that the offense looked a little bit more consistent. And that someone finally knocked some sense in the Shane Walgen at the second half to get him to actually get DeAndre Swift, like with quick dump offs, do what he's good at, which is, you know, getting the ball in space. And start running Roshan Johnson between the tackles. What I don't like is it seems like he still kind of has a bit of an issue figuring out his person now. I actually noted it down on that first drive, I believe. There was a quick out to call him up with DJ more blocking for him. Why is that not the other way around? Why is Cole not blocking for DJ? He's faster, he'll get the line of the game. Caleb Williams, I think he's diagnosed with him, got Caleb Williams, he's diagnosed with the field amazingly. I mean, he's getting to the line, he's making his checks. He is a cerebral player that I haven't gotten to see play for Chicago possibly ever. Now the downside, I don't know if it's, we're overloading with information, but he was brought in partially because he has such a good deep ball and he is consistently messing his deep ball. Like I think he left 21 points on the board because he missed more on that option route. - That was not on Caleb, that DJ slowed down. That ball was part of where they wanted it. - On the fake screen, on the fake screen. I thought that- - I'm talking about the one down the right sideline into the end zone. - Oh no, I'm talking about the fake screen where DJ Moore had inside leverage and Caleb threw it outside back left corner. That made no sense to me, he should throw that inside where he's got leverage. It was that and he missed, he did Miss Roma Dune say again, I like the way Caleb's progressing, don't get me wrong. I just wonder if like maybe because he is so cerebral, if they're feeding in too much as if he's, you know, in year three as opposed to a rookie, a cerebral rookie that are teaching him like a cerebral, year three player and that's talking to things. Just a little too much in this, the deep ball. - Yeah, that's fair. I bet you're gonna get there with a rookie. No question about that. Here's the thing, and you make a great point, Cap, and so does Louis. All these things have to just get better moving forward. - Yep. And as far as the blocking is concerned, far as the blocking is concerned. So you block for each other, Cap. - Right, just because Cole is bigger, DJ Moore's gotta be able to block too. - Correct. - That's the whole thing about being an offense. If you're not getting the ball, you have to block to help your teammate. And so he's talking about that play where it's set up for a commit. They can't do it for each other. - No, they've got both those plays in their trick bag. I was talking about the throw down the right sideline into the end zone. - Got it. - Now, do I think that Caleb would say, I'd like to put a little bit more air under it? - Yes, but go back and watch. DJ does not run through the ball. Otherwise, that's probably six. Got to hit that one. - Yes. - The throw, again, go back and watch it. The throw he made for the touchdown to DJ, he's got the width of a piece of paper to get the ball in. The defenders right there. - Oh yeah. - And if you go back and watch it, it is scary how perfect that throw is like, whoa, haven't seen that in this time, ever. - Every game where I lose, you see an elite throw or throws by Caleb Williams. - Correct. - So you see the glimpses there, not flashes that get you fired. That's not what we're talking about. We're talking about the stuff I saw at USC. Every now and then you see it, Cap, you're like, oh, that's why he's the number one pick. - Correct. - The keyhole throw, just that little bit of a space to be able to get that ball in there. - Yeah. - And the throw to combat up the middle. - Yeah. - That was a laser beam, great catch by Cole. He had to go up to get it. Caleb put it right where it had to be. - Yeah. So that's why he's the number one pick. - Correct. - Correct. - If so, if you go question that, I saw a lot of that in college, especially this junior year, not a surprise. - So good win, take it two and two back to work, and let's go. - If you're on hold, you will be on the air. - 3, 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, ESPN, 3, 3, 2, 3, 7, 7, 6, our phone never. We got a whole 'nother half to go, and it all comes down to us executing. You know, staying ahead of the chains, not getting many penalties, and focusing on what we can control, what we can manage, all the things that we can, all the things that we can do. And then, you know, after that, go out there and make plays. - DNR just we've had a big game, 165 total yards from scrimmage. Was that a part of the game plan, getting him more touches, whether that be in the passing game or in the run game? - Yeah, I think with the guys that we have, it's always important to try and get the ball in their hands, especially with somebody like him that can run the ball so well. And then obviously, you know, when he gets the ball in his hands in open space, when he catches it, he's unbelievable. So, we've known that for so many months and so much time. "But you can only judge DeAndre "on the body of work through the first three games, right?" - That's correct. - And it was not good enough. He was running into the back of the offensive lineman. The blocking was, it was all a combination of crap. He was magnificent yesterday, magnificent. - Yes. - Imagine what happens when you make that adjustment cap here or there. And again, this is still a reclamation project, this offensive line. But just the idea that you have some openings. Not just for the running game for Caleb Williams as well, to be able to have enough time. - Yeah. - I know that there's a difference between Saturdays and Sundays when you watch football, right? And then you watch Millro and the same deal, but they both have, as you call 'em, iron gates in front of 'em. Five All-Americans of All-American tight end, two All-American running mechs, like, not tough. - That's when we talk about how Caleb can't revert back to his days at Southern Cal. - Uh-oh, sorry about that. - Unbelievable. - I forgot to turn my phone off. - You forgot to turn it off. - Holy cow, holy unbelievable. - Mind ya. - Five dollars. - I don't have any cash, but I'll get it. - Five dollars, yeah. - I'll get it. - It's on a bear's victory Monday. - I mean, you're just doing a show. - Damn. - And then of course, your knucklehead friends and family don't know. He's on from seven to 10, don't call him. - True. - Don't call him. - I don't even know who that was. - Let me just just... - Well, it had to be someone important. There it is. Yellow. (bell ringing) - I'll call you back, I'm doing it. - Well, listen to "Morning Show." Take that. Sorry, I'll get back. - I always turn it off too, I'm so good about it. - Not really, I mean, this happens at least once a quarter. - It hasn't happened in months. - Months. - Are you taking tallies of that or? - I am because I'm guilty as charged of doing that. - I was. - I haven't hit it in four months. - So I have to say every quarter, that's correct. - Wow. - Two, one, two, three, two. ESPN is our telephone number. - The quarterly bang. - But Lexi, Mississippi, listening on the ESPN Chicago app. Here's Jay on a Bears Victory Monday. Jay, good morning. - Good morning, guys. How are y'all? - What's up, man? Chigga. - Raghofelli, y'all. - Oh, kind of, yes. - Go ahead, Jay. - Good day, good win. I love how ferocious the defense is playing. I think Javon Dexter, senior's stepping up for us. I think the offensive line has got to play better. Can't have that many penalties. And I'd love us to put a first half together where I'm not sitting in the fourth quarter biting my fingernails off. - I heard the booze like you heard the booze in that first quarter because the thing that you're watching and you're seeing, you know, not being able to score, now your eyes are rolling back your head, Jay, like, okay, are we doing this again? - Yeah, it was something, man. The first in 15s, first in 20s. I was like, are we gonna do this again? - It looks like we came out on top. Exactly right. Jay, we appreciate your telephone call. 3-1-2-3-3-2-3-7, 7-6, our phone number. - The great Tom Waddle is listening as he does every morning. Thank you, Tommy. He said on the throw that you and I were discussing that Caleb missed DJ for the touchdown on the right sideline. - Yes. - He said yes, he does slow a bit, DJ, inside release 'cause the cornerback is playing on his outside shoulder. Release inside, get with to create space for the ball to be delivered. He does hesitate to touch, which is a mistake, but the ball is too high and too hard and flat. Replay from the sideline shows it's way too high. So that means Caleb isn't giving his guy a chance on his deep balls, which is strange 'cause his deep ball accuracy was outstanding in college. So it's gotta get better. There's things you gotta clean up. You gotta go back to work, right? - We're working progress, exactly right. Some thoughts from Caleb Williams for a J-Mac talking about the mindset of the offense through the first four games of the season 'cause parents are two and two, what does he think? - Yeah, I think us understanding who we are, I think us understanding what type of team we're gonna be on, things like that, and also just playing together. Like I've said in so many different times and interviews, and the wins or losses that we are about one person in each of those plays, from it popping and things like that, and staying true to it, not being frustrated. So I think those have been the main things, and then personality and things like that is important for us as a team, being aggressive, being tough, kicking people's tail, kicking the man in front of you, and things like that. So yeah, I think we did well with that today with all the different personals that they brought in, all the different coverages that they try and do, and whole shells and things like that. I think the offensive line and everybody else does such a good job with that and us controlling what we can control, and going out there and winning the game. - Caleb Williams with J-Mac, after every Bears game right here on ESPN 1000. - Love it, to the full lines we go, Adam is in Boston, Massachusetts, listening on the ESPN Chicago app. All right, Adam, good morning. - Good morning, how you guys doing? - What's up, Adam, how you doing, man? - Big Bears win, that made my weekend. That was awesome, two things. One, I heard someone say this, and I couldn't agree more. The best punting performance I have ever seen, it was actually exciting to watch those punts go 65 yards and then bounce back like a golf shot and land at the seven out of bounds, amazing. - Yeah, the last one was the key one because you force Matt Stafford to have to play from the eight yard line. - Yeah. - Totally different. Totally different vibe. If they had gone down and beat you with a touchdown, you'd be like, "No, I did have," and thanks for the call, Adam, have a great day. I did have a question for you guys. Che and I were, - Che, you and I were texting about this. Why would you fork down, Caleb slides down, short, two yards at the end of the game? Gotta punt the football. You're at about midfield. You gotta punt it and kick it to freaking Racine, Wisconsin. Why would you take a time out there? Explain that to me at three time outs. Why would you take a time out in that situation and not just take the delay a game? Heaven forbid, Stafford made a play through a bomb. Hail Mary got catches it and runs 75, 80 yards for a touchdown. Now you're losing. You'd need that time out to stay alive. - Correct. - Like a blood transfusion. Take the penalty. What are you doing? Why take the time out? That made no sense to me. - Would you like to ask, Matt, you were losing a 20 about that? - If we get time, yeah, people gotta understand that. We get a limited amount of time. Like when our time's up, we're up. So we can't keep going and going and going. I got other things I want to ask them that wasn't the number one takeaway. But I want to ask them about other stuff. But if we get time, I'm going to ask them. What was the impetus for taking the time out? - It's great, Cap. Lead the interview, morning after a win. - Coach, great. What was that time out about? - Right. - Let's go, mate. - So it's not like the biggest deal, but Shane, are you with me? - I was texting about it. - I texted you, I thought it was crazy. - That was odd. - You're like, just take the delay, you're punting anyway. - I'm like, yeah, I'm like, what are we doing? Shane texted me, I'm like, oh. - It's odd. - It's odd. - No, it's just. - Like, is that not flusiscoll? Is it someone else in his ear? Like Richard Hightower saying, "Hey, take a tuck." - That would be me. - Okay, it was you. Then, again, I'm nitpicking. - He's not on yet. - I understand. - That was a sound bite. - I'm nitpicking. - I'm nitpicking, but I demand excellence. - This is a time of year that is not very fun. - Well, you're two and two. I mean, you're surviving. What do you mean, Matt? Anyway. - Do you know what that's from? 'Cause it took me a second to figure it out. You probably already. I think that's when he announces like, the cuts on the hard knocks. - Oh. - I think that's the guess. - I guess so. We want two, three, two, three, seven, seven, six, our phone number. The Bears are, they earn that victory, but there's some things that they're very fortunate enough to win. There's a reason why that they won, Cap, but they're fortunate to win. And I think you have to ask in the wake of the two-point issue last week, the two fail replay challenges the week before. And now you have this issue. So I would like to ask him if we get time again, I got a billion other things as you do you. We want to get into a bunch of stuff. The Andre Swift, the online, the Kevin Jenkins, there's so much to talk about. But those are mistakes that when you least expect, you're like, oh God, what happened? We're out of a time out there? It's got to get fixed. - The Rams were without two star receivers. They're starting guard or center and one of their starting cornerbacks. Now the Chicago Bears are not trying to buy it to find out if they're going to get the number one spot in the college football playoff. That's not what this is for. It's hard to win the national football league, so you give the Bears credit. However, we have to take a look at two sides of the coin. The first half of the coin cap is that the Bears only had 43 rushing yards at halftime, but they finished with 131. The longest was the Andre Swift with 36. The Rams also held the offense to 97 net yards at the first half and then they turned it on. So to me, this was a tale of two halves. Yes, the Bears earned a victory, but also the Rams didn't do themselves any favors as well. And Los Angeles, they opened the game over three in the red zone. Against a better ball club, someone's punching it in cap, over three in the red zone early. Someone's punching, so what I'm saying is, I love the victory, but this is when we talk about how the Bears have to get better, because against better teams, those teams are gonna find a way to get into the end zone. Stafford, unfortunately, could not do that enough. - Correct, he was not as sharp as he usually is, and then he's going up against an elite defense. Elite. So that stuff is gonna get cleaned up. You've gotta continue to go back to work and get the cadence right, the pre-snap penalties. Two false darts on Cole Comette. You know I love Cole Comette. I think he's a hell of a football player and a better guy. You can't have two false darts. Whether that's on Cole, whether that's on Caleb's cadence, it's getting comfortable, gotta get cleaned up. 'Cause you're always behind the sticks, you're always going backwards. That's the whole thing, we'll just have to restart the down. Those kind of things have to get better. However, I'll also say this. Then again, happy that the Bears won, but this league is just filled, marred with just ticky-tack calls. Some are right on the button, some are not. Some are just kind of ghost plays by the referees. Think about that last play, the interception that Stafford threw. That's a close call. What time is it now? - Oh, where he got hit in the head? - That's it, that's a PI in most games I watch. - Oh, no, personal foul, you're talking. - Personal, yeah. - Yeah, where he got hit on the, when he got hit, you're talking on the release, he got hit in the head. It was close, I don't think it was egregious, but at nine minutes left in the second quarter, it's probably a penalty. - My homes would've gotten that call. - So Stafford gets calls, he's a veteran guy. - But you don't see my point though, like all these games I watch, that's a penalty. But I'm just glad that the Bears, that first of all, that the interception took place to ice the game for Brisker. I'm just saying that these are things that the Bears have to be able to overcome. - Correct. - Not to, when they say clean up the mistakes, that means they have to lessen their mistakes to win ball games. - Like if you want to look at what the effect that you, what you're talking about is, if Tori Taylor doesn't get it down at the eight yard line, let's say it goes into the end zone. Now you're, you know, several yards farther. And now you get a 15 yard penalty. All of a sudden you're like, oh God, now they got a Hail Mary opportunity here and they got time to dink and dunk to get themselves into position to take a shot. We'd be sitting here today going, what the hell? But instead your punter pinned you deep back there. Really good job. - Let's go to Frank on the south side. He's with us on the Captain J. That sucks. - Man, and then the best win, but what I was calling about, I was calling about that one test, what is my play of the game? Because because the fumble that got that offensive rolling and he took the pass in a red zone, it was on the third down that, with a less touchdown, 'cause Jalen Johnson was behind the gap. And he also took I think two more passes that game. So, my test, what is my play of the game? Thank y'all. - My test sweat was phenomenal. He came around the end and he just bull rushed that guy and then moved off of him. Like he rode into his body, bounced off and made the play to strip the football spectacular. - Yeah, again, a team win for the Bears. And again, it's just more than just one hero. There's many that were able to step up, understanding the importance of trying to win this ball game. I call this the Brisker game because Brisker was all over the field, helping defensively. Caleb Williams taking another step and the running game cap. We were looking for the running game to get better 131 yards on the ground with Swift and Johnson and Caleb Williams also running the ball as well. That slip and slide boy, you know, you learn it once and that's what he's doing. I see in quarterbacks that are just not being able to slide or not slide properly. Caleb's got that down as if he had a slip and slide underneath him. - Yeah, he does, that you're correct. He does a really, really nice job with that slide. Get down, like Justin would be too upright. - Yeah. - He's obviously much more athletic, Justin. Caleb's no slouch, but Justin's an elite athlete.
