She was born in Plattsburgh, New York, and graduated from Moorhead High School, attended Rockingham Community College, and received an accounting degree from Greensboro College. She worked with Edwina Webster, CPA, and later Kimberly Brown, an associate CPA, and actively participated in her community and church. She was an integral part of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where she served as treasurer for many years, and was active in the Moorhead band boosters as treasurer and event planner, surviving our husband Bunyan William Roar and their children Marissa Josephine Roar, Joshua Thomas Roar, and Jared Scott Roar, and brothers Van Eaton and Penny and John Eaton.
