We'll see you in the next one. >> News, sports, weather from Dr. Bill Williams, traffic info from Kane, and one of the Gulf Coast's most familiar voices. It's mobile mornings with Dan Brennan and Dalton R. Wig. >> Good morning from Dan and Dalton at M. Talk 10065, mobile mornings, that's six minutes after eight o'clock. With the executive director of the Reese's Senior Bowl, Jim Nagy, with us this morning, Jim, how are you doing? >> I'm doing great. That's good to be on again this morning. I've got to ask you something real quick, Jim, with your, you know, you knew a lot of guys around the league for your years as a scout. Now as the point person, executive director of the Reese's Senior Bowl, I can't imagine how often your phone bings and clings and then tells you to check a message or something going on. I'm sure people reach out to you every moment of every game. >> Yeah, I mean, it's different. Certainly 20 years in the NFL, you make a lot, you have a lot of friends and build a lot of relationships. But yeah, this job just gives more people a reason to reach out, I would say. You know, usually when you run the road scouting, everyone is just checking in to compare notes on players and see if you were alive out there. But no, this is pretty unique because it's not just the team's really, as much as it is at the NFL folks, it's really the agent community as well. I'm on the phone. It seems like half the day with agents. They play a critical role and who ends up coming here to Mobile and who doesn't? Yeah, those relationships are huge, but yeah, way more phone time, man, way more, way more phone time than I had when I was, when I was working as a scout. >> And with good reason, I mean, I see where you, since scouts out, you guys aren't just at the Bama, Georgia games, Texas, Mississippi State, I mean, I think I saw where you were looking at a guy from Lenore Rhine earlier this weekend. So you can see it from everywhere. >> Yeah, two schools that most people haven't heard of Lenore Rhine in Hickory, North Carolina and Tusculum University and up in Tennessee played a Barnburner yesterday. It was, you know, unfortunately that game, you know, prayers to all the people in western North Carolina, I heard your news break during the, in the commercial, you know, the Hickory North Carolina is kind of right up there in the western part of the state by the mountains and they had to, they had to, first of all, postpone the game on Saturday and then relocate it and play the neutral site on Sunday yesterday afternoon. So yeah, prayers to those people, but yeah, I mean, we were at, we were at a game at northern Arizona, our Sacramento State, you know, we've had division three players in the senior ball, we don't, we don't care what level they come from, actually, I love it when they come from the small school of Jordan out there trying to find the best guys. I don't care where they come from, whether it's Tuscaloosa or Auburn or Hickory North Carolina. >> Well, let's talk about the big game Saturday night. I know you were paying close attention to that and a lot of folks around here, even if they're not Bama fans are wanting to see, you know, Ryan Williams and some other local guys succeed and boy did he, the true freshman, I think you posted that if he comes out after his junior year, he'll be 19 years old. That's just unbelievable, especially considering what he's able to do out there on the field. >> Well, what I posted was he'll be a 19 year old playing in the senior bowl. >> Yes. >> That's what I posted. >> That's right. >> Let me clarify that. >> I think that would be a record if I had to guess, right? I mean, 19. >> Yeah, it certainly would be. Yeah, I think he would turn, he would turn 20 the week after the senior bowl or just a couple days after the senior bowl that year. >> Yeah, it was a phenomenal performance, you know, when Georgia, I mean, we could talk about this the entire segment, this game, but when Georgia took the lead, whatever that was, right around the two minute mark, I was like, wow, this is, that would be a really tough way for Alabama to lose this football game and then they come out and boom, whatever that was, I think, 75-yard touchdown, Ryan Williams, and that was all on Ryan Williams. I mean, you know, Gail and Miro got the ball out there, but the play Ryan Williams made on the ball and then as he lands to avoid the two defenders, and it's just, to me, and again, I posted something on social media, I thought I'd do on the weekends, unfortunately, but that's one of the best plays I've seen in all my time, and I've been doing this my whole life. This has been my life's work is working in football, so, but I haven't seen too many more impressive plays in that and that video I posted or I, it's got over 5 million views already since Saturday night. So, no, it was a, it was a phenomenal play. He's a rare player for a kid that age. I'm just glad I, I think the first time I saw him, he was playing 7 on 7 against my son, but against UMS, right, high school was my first exposure Ryan Williams, but yeah, he's a phenomenal talent. You know, we did this game for two years on UTV-44, and I would, Dalton, tell me if this is the truth, but I, I think that I would struggle describing, it was kind of like he's, nobody can stop him, right? I don't, I guess he's really fast, I just, I couldn't even describe what I was seeing because it wasn't like anything else I was seeing on the field, is that fair, Jim? Yeah, I mean, he's, he's, you know, I don't, I don't, I mean, I, I try to watch a lot of high school football in my son played for a couple years, as I said, so I really was into it then, and we're, our staff is out in a different high school game every week, you know, that's important for us to be out of the game and we're, we're giving stuff out to the kids and whatnot, but I don't follow it as closely as some of the people, you know, in the media down here doing, I was talking to Randy Kennedy at some point over the last year or so, and he thought he was the best high school player from down in these parts in Julio Jones, and that's, that's pretty big praise right there, because I, I believe Julio's going to have a gold jacket one day, maybe in Canton, Ohio, so that's a, that's high praise, yeah, he's a, he's a rare, he's a rare talent, yeah, well, let's talk about a couple of guys, and there are many from that game that are on the senior bowl watch list, but the two most watched would be the quarterbacks in the game Saturday night, and Jalen Milro, I think, and you could correct me, I think at least Saturday night he laid claim to best quarterback in the nation for now, he had an unbelievable game. He did, I mean, I think there's a, there's a segment of the, at least on social media, segment of the media that wants to give the Heisman already to Travis Hunter from Colorado, in Travis again, I mean, he's, he's, and I use the word rare, I mean, there's not too many rare players out there, Travis Hunter's a rare guy in the sense that he's the first two-way play, like full-time two-way player we've seen, and I mean, I don't know if we've seen one, I mean, in my time, 50 years old, I don't know if I've seen a full-time two-way player, Charles Woodson won the Heisman, you know, back in the day at Michigan after, I mean, he was a little bit after me in school at Michigan, I mean, that was what, 30 years ago? I mean, he wasn't, he wasn't even close to a full-time player. I mean, he would, he would come over on offense and they would run him on a reverse or throw the ball to him, but I mean, he returned some puns, but he wasn't a full-time player like Travis Hunter, but I think it's premature, I think it's premature to give the award to Travis Hunter yet, I mean, Jalen Milro, certainly right now, if we had to pick who's going to New York, I think Jalen Milro will be in New York for that, for the presentation, which that alone is a big deal, you know, it's cool, we had Bo Nix and Michael Pennix from the Senior Bowl last year in New York for the ceremony, but, but yeah, Jalen, Jalen's made a nice jump, and we talked about it off the air, he just doesn't have like good speed or excellent speed, the guy's got rare speed, I'm using the word rare again, doesn't seem too rare when you keep using it, but this guy, I'll, I'll take you back like two years ago, I was at the Alabama, Texas A&M game, and I was talking to some NFL scouts on the field who had been in Tuscaloosa that, that previous day on Friday, and I asked him about Jamir Gibbs, the running back, and they said, yeah, well, the guys in the, in the, in the weight room said he's the second fastest guy on the team on their GPS tracking stuff they use for practice. And I said, well, who's the fastest? And they said, do they said the backup quarterback Jalen Millrod, this is when he was, you know, playing behind Bryce Young, I was like, wow, that's, that's so, I mean, he was, he's the fastest guy in the program. So that's, that's, that's pretty dang fast. So he's, I like the fact that he used in his legs or they're having some more design runs. I think they're doing a better job this year with the design run package than they have in the past for him. And the biggest thing is a thrower, he's anticipating better than he has in the past. He's seeing things earlier and more clearly than he had in the past, which you would expect in his second year as a starter. I did, you know, Beck's game was pretty uneven, but in the end, he threw for like 420 yards. He threw some picks obviously trying to get back in the game, but what did you see out of him? Yeah, it was a really mixed bag, Dan. And you, yeah, you hit it like a tailor to have. So there was some good and there was some bad in the first half. The pressure really seemed to be getting to him. He was, he seemed keyed up to start, then the pressure got to him, it got worse. And that's a big time environment. We all saw it on TV or listen listeners were probably at the game. I mean, those LED lights when they turn the stadium lights off and they get those red and white LEDs going and the music's cranked up. I mean, that's, that's a difficult environment to play. So I, it's a big test, but I think the NFL scouts will, they will, I mean, they won't like some of the stuff they saw in the first half, but they'll like how that kid battled back. I mean, he really did. He led, he led the, he led the nation this week in passing. I think he threw for 489 yards or something. I saw yesterday. So yeah, he, he battled back. He made some really nice throws. He got him back in the game and it wasn't his fault. They lost. I mean, he, he got him to lead at the two minute mark in the defense, blew it. So yeah, there was, again, yeah, it looked really rough to start the first half. He looked like a guy that would be a late round draft pick and then he comes out in the second half and he looked like a guy that, you know, might be an NFL starter someday. So yeah, definitely a, definitely a mixed bag. Like I described as back, played in the first half, like the, the game of football was introduced to him earlier that day. It seemed that way, except that bomb that he placed perfectly was dropped. Yeah, but we're talking with Reese's senior bowl executive director Jim Nagy about this weekend's games. Uh, Jim, you know, one team we haven't really talked a lot about this year and it's just because of where they're located and the SEC is so hot to start the year, but Ohio State continues to just kind of get it done before they start playing some, uh, tougher teams later on in the schedule. Uh, who are some of the players that you're looking at? Uh, who, who are you most focused on with Ohio State? I know Will Howard playing at quarterback there and, uh, quench on Judkins transferred from Ole Miss. They've got some players at Ohio State. Seems like not many people as of now are focused on the Buckeyes. No, and it's got to, you're right. It's because they haven't played anyone and that's not, that's not the Michigan in me coming out. They just, they've had a really soft schedule. Um, so well, and then it seems like that every year they, they don't play anybody out of conference. I mean, they've played Notre Dame over the last few years, but, um, so they'll get into the teeth of their teeth of the, you know, I think they play Oregon. They've certainly got Michigan at the end of the year. Um, and it's not a great, not a great Michigan team by any stretch. So no, they, they did a good job in the portal. Will Howard, the guy that we would have invited to the senior will last year heading out transferred. Um, he was kind of the backup option when we didn't get Jaden Daniels from LSU. Um, quench on Judkins from right up, uh, I 65 at Pike Road High School who, who played a high school game down here against UMS right back in, back in his senior year. Um, definitely a good player. It's had like, I think three straight one hundred yard games for, for them, they've got another running back, Trayvon Henderson. You could make a case. Judkins in Henderson is the best, uh, back field do in the country. I think you actually think it is. Um, so no, they, you know, Amekah Bukka is another receiver. They've kind of cranked out receiver after receiver over the years. That's another one. Um, they've got four draftable offensive linemen and then they're loaded on defense. Um, they're loaded on defense. If, if we're going off the senior ball board right now, we could have four defensive linemen. We could have a linebacker and we could have three or four DBs from the Ohio State Buckeyes in the senior bowl this year. They, they might have a dozen senior bowlers on that roster. Wow. That's plenty. That's fun. Are there any, have you guys, has there somebody jumped on your radar that you were not aware of before the season started? Uh, and you're thinking, now we've got to give this guy a look at it. Could be somebody from one of those smaller schools. Yeah, that happens every year, Dan. And that's really the fun part of the process is, uh, you know, I would say the watch list is just a starting point for us. And we're going to, we're going to try to uncover every stone. You know, last year we had seven guys, people asked me, you know, does anyone ever make the game that isn't on the watch list? And last year, there were seven of them and they all got drafted. Um, you know, we, we had plenty of players today. We had 110 players drafted, but we had about another 20 that didn't get drafted, but all seven that weren't on the watch list got drafted, uh, which is, which is, which is pretty crazy. Um, but yeah, there's, there's, there's definitely some guys that have really risen up the board. Um, trying to think off the top of my head right now, some of the guys like again, it was staying in the SEC. We, I don't think Alabama or Auburn has played it. I know they have and they haven't played South Carolina yet, but South Carolina's got a guy Kyle Canard who is at Georgia Tech last year, who's already got, you know, six or seven sacks and it's off to a, a monster season. So that is, that's the fun. That's what I'm getting ready to do with Monday mornings. We get together as a staff. Uh, we pull up all the grades that were submitted over the weekend that our scouts put in. Um, and we kind of re kind of rearrange the board and everyone gets a chance to talk about what they saw at their games and, um, yeah, that's that Monday mornings are my favorite mornings. That's what we're about to do here in a little bit. Yeah. And, uh, it's our favorite, one of our favorite mornings too, having you on the line to talk about this. And, uh, it's, you know, it's so cool to have the senior bowl in our city. Uh, and looking at the players currently in college who may come down to play in that game, but then Monday nights, you know, Sundays, we're watching guys who were here just last season and, uh, to see them excel here in mobile and then play some NFL football. It's really cool. I know some guys tonight will be playing that we're in that game last time. We're just over four months away now, February 1st, the senior ball. I know tickets are available online at senior bowl.com. Uh, Jim, we appreciate your time so much, uh, every week. Yeah. Thanks for having me on. Have a great week. You got it. Jim Nagy with the, the executive director of the senior bowl. And like you said, his day is going to begin with a bang as they all meet heads and talk about what they saw over the weekend, all the scouts. Very cool. Uh, 821, coming back, we turn up your voice. 2513430106. We'll discuss the, uh, absolute devastation, uh, in the mountains after Helene on the way. Good morning from Dan and Dalton FM talk one of six, five, a lot of attention and it should be given to areas like, uh, Asheville, North Carolina, uh, where these floodwaters have just ravaged that community, ruined things for many, many people and they're recovering now. But right along the coastline, you know, in Florida where, where the storm first hit, they got wailed too. For sure. They did. Yeah. And that might go a little under disgust with the, what's going on north of there. But, uh, yeah, I was looking at this one article that, uh, said tiny Florida town wiped off the map by Hurricane Helene's wrath. And they're talking about, uh, stein hatchy here. They said, uh, when Hurricane Helene battered the Gulf coast, one of the hardest areas was the small town of stein hatchy overwhelmed by a 10 foot storm surge and 140 mile an hour winds had most of the town's 500 residents evacuated the area. But when they returned, they found their homes and businesses destroyed. Wow. We've been wiped off the map. There's nothing left. I have some insurance, but now I have to rebuild and, uh, stein hatchy about 90 miles southeast of Tallahassee, I believe the weather channel and Fox weather had some folks posted up near there as that storm made landfall. They said few buildings were left standing and the ones that were suffered significant damage. But, uh, as this one texture points out, uh, scary thing about North Carolina and Tennessee, et cetera, flooding typically is covered by homeowners insurance. What are the odds they have flood policies? Yeah. I don't know how that whole insurance thing would work with these. You don't expect, was it still? It may not have been tropical storm by then. I think the tropical storm, a portion of Helene's journey kind of fizzled out in Georgia, but obviously the rain continued and you said it before it even moved in to the Carolinas. We were watching the storm and I was really concerned for that area just the topography, I guess is what you call it, but I'm familiar with the area and it's a whole lot different than down here and it just creates its own rivers because the water's got to go somewhere, right? So the small towns or not, you know, mid-sized towns like Asheville, you have these creeks over running and suddenly there's just water. It just creates these almost canyons with the, with, with the rainwater and making these out of nowhere rivers. The governor of North Carolina spoke, his name is Roy Cooper. He spoke yesterday. This unprecedented storm dropped from 10 to 29 inches of rain across the mountains causing life-threatening floods and landslides. I don't know what the, you know, what the local forecast was for Asheville considering that the big storm was on the way, but you remember the day before they were getting a lot of rain from a different system, I guess, and then it all kind of collided together. That storm comes off of the, out of the Gulf of Mexico and they'd already had a day of rain and then this. Yeah, Dr. Bill said one city up there received 30 inches of rain and the footage, I mean, entire towns underwater, like up to the top of vehicles. Yeah. And obviously the horror stories on, on Twitter and other social media Facebook have just been devastating. The part that got me was, and I don't know if this is still the case, but after all that moved through, Asheville was inaccessible. Like no roads in or out were accessible. They had, if you were going to get out, they had to bring a chopper to you and fly you out of there. I think it's a little bit better now. It's better now. I think it's a little bit better now, but not, not by much. And so the, you know, just think about your life is, your life is the city that you knew, much like with New Orleans. I remember talking to somebody after the, after Katrina and this young lady had moved here from New Orleans, but it was right after the hurricane had struck and she said, like, you don't understand, like where I lived in town, it's all gone. Like my dry cleaners, the place I'd grab a bite after, you know, have to work and, and hang with the coworkers, homes, everything no longer there, no longer there. Wow. Amazing. 830 FM talk, 106, five mobile mornings with Dan and Dalton and feel free to text if you like 2513430106, or if you want to call the show, same number. 834 FM talk, 106, five and mobile mornings on a Monday. And now it's time to head over to McConnell Automotive and talk with Louie Arretta. Hey, Louie. Hey, good morning, guys. Hey, we are doing fine. And I want to let the folks know about those new vehicles. I know some 2025 models continue to roll on to the lot, but you also have a bunch of pre-owns that are really nice as well. That's right. You can check everything out online at mcconnellautomotive.com. And yes, we've got 25s coming in. You can order 25 ucos. We've got 25 siers coming in, 25, 3/4 times. We've got a couple of those on the lot. So we've got a great selection, low interest rates coming down the pipe now. So we've got a great deal coming out. So just come on by here and see us. It's that easy. We appreciate your time this morning, Louie. Hey, thank y'all. Come see us. Louie Arretta, go see him at McConnell Automotive. You'll find him on Dauphin Street, just east of I-65. And of course, the website, mcconnellautomotive.com. He's got a call from a gentleman named Thompson. And he said that he is friends with a lineman, who right now is up in Asheville. And he said he's helped repair things in storms and tragedies, like we've got going on right now. Ice storms, hurricanes, the gamut, basically. Yeah, all of it, right? Anything that can do the damage. And he was telling Mr. Thompson, he said, this is the worst I've ever seen. This is the worst situation that I've ever seen. And all my life is being a lineman who the duty would be to try and get things up in Adam again after a storm goes through. Yeah, I know so many road washouts, roads that just crumbled. I think I-40 in Tennessee. You mentioned that. And it was around a curve. It looked like someone on the other side of the interstate jumped the median to warn people that were coming around that curve. Hey, the interstate's gone. Oh my gosh. The chunk of this interstate's gone. And they were able to stop them. That's at least the way it appeared from the picture. But some of these rescue operations, and many of which, a lot of folks weren't able to be rescued. I saw this someone on Twitter was talking about family members or friends they knew. And I think it was two elderly folks in their 70s, and then maybe a middle aged person. And I think this was in North Carolina, I can't recall. But they were basically on the roof of their home. The last place they could go. Because like so many pictures and video from Katrina, we saw where people were on their roofs. And this person on Twitter was like so many others trying to get some assistance for the folks who weren't able to get the message out on top of their roof. But that roof actually ended up collapsing. Yeah, and they lost those lives. But there was another rescue with a hospital in Tennessee. Yes, that was right across the state line in Tennessee. That hospital, it must have been just two stories tall. So a small community hospital, like the ones we see around here, they're kind of going away, right? Like the Thomasville regional discussion there. Yeah, so it said dozens of staff and patients went to the roof to wait to be taken to safety. A few others stayed in rescue boats as winds whipped and brown waters gushed nearby with debris beneath them. Within a few hours, they were all rescued. This was amazing. A unicorn. I don't know if I'm saying that correctly. Unicorn County Hospital in Irwin, Tennessee, right there near the North Carolina border. And it was just one of the many, many rescues. So if you if anyone comes back this way, or you hear of anyone who went out to help with that, maybe buy them a beer after all that. Cause I know they're working some long days, some sleepless nights and just getting after it. You think about a hospital in the middle of a storm, but like we have here, certainly, we, you know, things, it's about as unfortunate situation as you can have that you're sick enough where you're in the hospital. God knows what you're dealing with. And then you have a storm come through where the power is out or the generators, not or in this case, the place floods. It's unbelievable. It might be one of the most terrifying sentences to hear everybody to the roof. Yeah. You never want to hear that. Jimmy from Bayman that said, you guys look back at a few pictures several years ago when that hurricane hit. And remember the town of Mexico beach? There was nothing left there, but slabs and stumps. And I think that was Michael. Maybe it was Michael. And remember what I was doing at the time, I was in country music and Luke Brian's mother lived there. Mama Brian. Yeah. So he was like, this is pretty bad. You know, and I think you showed me a picture. Well, it was like one house, one kind of mansion was standing must have been very fortified. And otherwise, everything else around it was gone. Yeah. And that was Senator Rick Scott, the Florida Senator, before Helene made landfall, he said, last time we had storm surge projections like this, it was Mexico beach and Michael, he said, I think 15 feet of storm surge. And he posted that picture, and I shared that as well. Yeah. What you said about steam hat she was wiped off the map is what they're saying. That's incredible. It really is. Natalie texting in. A good thing that Ukraine is taken care of with billions of dollars from American taxpayers. All that money could help with this disaster angers me to no end. Yeah, it is. You think of how many politicians, how many leaders in our country seem to worry more about people in other countries or bringing people from other countries into our country. And while they, you know, they say what they're supposed to say after disasters like this, their actions don't really prove that they care more about the people who are inside this country and paying taxes and working in American businesses. It's just not, you know, actions speak louder than words, and they all know how to use their words correctly, but it's the actions that are, that are so disappointing. I'm looking at some of these pictures of steam hatchy. Everything that I'm seeing is before the storm. And it's a beautiful place and with some beautiful homes. It's not like this. It's not like a nothing. So, I've seen hatchy was wiped out. There was a lot of people who've lost everything. As far as the presidential campaign trail, I believe both candidates will be making trips to areas affected by the storms. This week, the Kamala Harris crew said, Harris will visit areas impacted by Helene as soon as possible. I believe she said that as she was campaigning in Vegas yesterday, although I can't find exactly where she plans to visit. I imagine, you know, and we were talking about how folks around here help when places are hit hard by storms going to Florida going to Georgia or whatever. And sometimes you can be more of a problem than an actual fix to the problem. Sure. If you took a politician that isn't like the governor of North Carolina or congressman and put them into that area right now, I'm not sure how much good it would do. Right. I think Trump's planning on going to Valdosta, which was hammered pretty good. Go see your brother. Yeah. Maybe he'll have time to visit Carson or Wig. I was over there. But and my brother had one tree in the backyard. He said it was sketchy before the storm. I said, Oh, I hope it doesn't hope the sketchy tree doesn't fall in your house. Well, the tree went down, but it fell away from the house. So good news on that front. But tons of folks in Valdosta and other parts of Georgia weren't nearly as fortunate as he was in that regard. But this is a big week for the, the presidential campaign. And you have the VP debate tomorrow night between Vance and walls. But you also have Trump returning to Butler later this week, returning to the site of that first assassination attempt. It's, you know, I guess it's very symbolic, you know, and obviously man's got a lot of courage. And you could see that from which was already happened the way he emotionally just bounces back from assassination attempts. And then he's got the, the, I thought this was pretty disgusting Saturday night live. They've got a, they have a, and it wasn't Baldwin, but they had a guy doing Trump, which is fair game. I get that. But he made light that the Trump character talked about being shot at or in a way talked about it being bang somebody, you know, but it was part of this skit. And Trump's team is not happy about that. I mean, that's, you, you can, you can, you can choose not to acknowledge it, you know, that much in the media, those assassination attempts kind of didn't happen, it seems. We know they did. But when you make light of it, of how for man's life of a man actually being shot, it just says so much of how little they think of or how much they fear Donald Trump. Yeah. And I didn't catch it. I should, should have watched it. I'll have to see that because I think the way they go about it makes a lot of determined that would determine whether it was distasteful or not. So I need to see exactly how they joked about it. You know, I don't think he, he talked about his rallies being fun and people come and, but then he just said something like, like, well, unless there's a guy out there and he didn't say shooting at me, whatever, but he said it and being peeing peeing. Yeah. And so everybody knew what he was saying. Right. And they laughed along with it. You know, I don't think he, you said he bounced back, and I do think he bounced back. I think it took him some time. If you listen to some of his interviews and the way he was talking immediately after that first assassination attempt, I think it, I think it really affected him for some time. Yeah. I think it did. The first one seemed to, a little bit, he wasn't the convention two days later, two days later. And he was at the convention and he spoke maybe Thursday or so. But when you compare him to other human beings, he's kind of rather on phase by all of it. That's a good point. And going back to Butler, Pennsylvania, that's going to put, I mean, certainly, nothing's going to happen back in Butler, Pennsylvania again. But the Secret Service seems like they're so minor league at this point. Yeah. And all of the things that are coming out about the last detail that it did in Pennsylvania. And then think about this too, that golf course, it was one guy happened to see one rifle, otherwise should the Secret Service be taking a bow over that. Yeah, I don't know. And it's such a difficult spot to ensure you're safe, right? Golf course, wide open plenty of roads all around it and going through it. But I think they did pretty well Saturday night at Bryant Denny. I don't know, maybe if you were there, you can let us know exactly how the security process went for you going into the game. I saw several videos where maybe a sorority girl walked through the wrong area at one point and Secret Service said, get out. Like move, you're in the wrong spot right now. But he, I imagine if someone tried something at Bryant Denny Saturday night, you wouldn't just have the, you know, however many, maybe dozen of Secret Service agents taking care of it, but another 100,000 people that would probably step in, step in as well. And how about the TV coverage? Now I watched that game from the beginning to the end. And I don't remember, I'm sure they did, but I don't remember a cutaway to see, well, former president is here. They did once at least. I saw him show the box one time and then we were playing board games. So I had to go back, pause it because I wanted to see who all was in the booth with Trump. And you had, you had Katie Britt to his immediate left. You also had Tuberville. He was a little more distanced from Trump than Katie Britt was. And then you had some Hank Jr. was there. Kid Rock. I think John Daly was there. You also had my gosh, UFC fighter Colby Covington was there. They had Wesley Britt. He was the hardest one to miss in the shot. He was, I believe, on one side there. So pretty jam-packed box. I know I was thinking how you wanted to watch the game solo, right? You didn't want people talking over the game. Imagine if you're actually trying to watch the game and you end up in the box with Trump. I mean, so many people in there and many of them probably do not care at all about the actual result. I'm sure that Katie Britt being the good Southern gal brought some chicken tetrasini as well, like a little dish as a young lady from the Wiregrass would be raised to do the right thing. But I think it was a pretty successful operation from a safety standpoint. Meanwhile, this Butler PA one, you have former military men, you have Navy SEALs who were serving in Congress telling him not to do it. And not because of just the secret service falling short as many times as they have. But they said, this is just a tough location to ensure your complete safety. It's just so wide open there, but it seems like he's plowing ahead anyway. Looking at the text line here, this textor says, I did see a post on Facebook that Nova Scotia was sending a bunch of linemen down to North Carolina and Florida to assist this texture. Okay. How can we as citizens help the hurricane recovery time to help and stop talking about the damage? I'll look that up. But I think talking about the damage is actually helping. It's doing a hell of a lot more than a lot of the news stations that aren't covering it more or less. They're covering the Hezbollah thing that's going on. They're covering all kinds of things. The North Carolina flooding, for some reason, it just wasn't story A and a lot of newscast this week when it should have been. But I'll find some information and I guess you can just close years as we talk about the damage to the storm. Enough about the damage. Quit talking about that. Why are you talking about the damage during the news at News Talk Station? And Michael says, you got to remember ESPN is extremely left wing network. Of course, they're going to ignore Trump. Yeah, that's fine. But I also didn't want to see- It's on ABC, which is basically the same thing. Yeah, but I also didn't want to see 50 cutaways to Trump in the box. Don't turn this into a Taylor Swift at a Chiefs game kind of thing. Let's just focus on the football because that was pretty good as well. Yeah. What a game, huh? The mayoral race starting to see some more names pop up as potential candidates for mayor of Mobile. And one of those potential candidates was on Midday Mobile on Friday. Congressman Jerry Carl Sean asked him what he thought about running for mayor. I'll have some of that audio for you when we come back. Somebody else affiliated with our station. The DOJ has filed a lawsuit against the Secretary of State West Allen for not providing a quiet period of nonactivity with the voter rolls, which occurs right before an election. This past August, Allen announced an initiative to remove non-citizens from the voter rolls that had illegally registered to vote. The DOJ is now claiming that some U.S. citizens have been swept up in that purge and had their names removed from the role. Secretary of State Allen says he will not comment on pending litigation, but he has said he was elected to this position by the people of Alabama and has a constitutional duty to ensure that only American citizens can vote in elections. I'll be back with more Alabama stories after this. Where I was living was not a great place to live anymore. I began to pray for a place to go, praying for all of these things that a nine-year-old would want. I want to force this big house with a bunch of people my age. I want a parent. So I wanted a mom and a dad. Before I even prayed it, the Lord had already answered my prayer with the Big O'Grange. Who would that nine-year-old be if she never came to the Big O'Grange? I would be trying to fight for survival instead of fighting to break a cycle. Big O'Grange, a Christian home for children needing a chance. A decision from Pornhub regarding the state of Alabama is going to inadvertently help families and marriages become healthier due to the blocking of access to pornography online. Pornhub is limiting that access or even completely blocking it to states like Alabama, the past laws requiring age verification. That's exactly what occurred in the 2024 state legislation here in Alabama. And this week, the law goes into full effect. The law's language decried pornography as a public health crisis that leads to societal harms by treating people as objects and commodities for the viewer's use. I'm Andrea Tysk. We'll stop talking about the damage for a couple of seconds here, but it's the usual American Red Cross Salvation Army United Way. You can google those and find it. There's also some hurricane relief funds on GoFundMe. And one that noted here, save the children. So, they have a children's emergency fund that helps to get child-focused supplies into the hands of families that were hardest hit by the storm that save the children. All of those, just a quick search online and you'll get to where you need to be. I mentioned the Mobile Mayoral Race and some names. Right now, it's all just kind of projection, right? Folks saying who they'd like to see in the race. Yellow Hammer ran an article, Grayson Everett, and he had several names, including County Commissioner Connie Hudson, James Barber, Paul Prine. That would be a great debate, wouldn't that? Prine and Barber, Congressman Jerry Carl, Steven McNair, one of the names they mentioned here. And we know Steven well, that would be a great choice there. But Congressman Carl was on mid-day mobile with Sean on Friday and Sean asked him, well, that exact question. All right, I'm going to throw this one at you, Congressman, because it's come up a couple times this week, and somebody just texted about it as well. As the announcement came out from Sandy Stimson, that he would not be running for re-election. And of course, soon after that launched, then so did the, who will it be? And your name has come up many times on this show here just in the last couple of days. I promise you, in 36 hours, I've probably received 360 phone calls in Texas. I get a lot. And I've never based my political career on what I want. I've always kind of set still and wait for God to tell me. So I've kind of laid some markers down with God and my wife. We've both, and we're going to, we're going to pray about it. We're going to, we've got those markers laid out. We're going to see if he sends us a message one way or the other. We don't get a message. We know what the message is, you know, because that's a tough job. And following somebody like Sandy Stimson, I mean, you look at any elected official that spent 12 years, that's 12 years away from their kids and their families and the stuff that we consider average or normal. You know, been around your family in middle of night or, you know, at night watching TV or popcorn, especially with grandkids, we miss so much of that. And I've, you know, I've donated 12 years of my life too. I've been right there with Sandy the whole time, obviously in a different role. But, but that is a, that is going to be, we are teed up in mobile to do great, great things. I'm telling you, I just get goosebumps thinking about where we're going in the future. And I get excited talking about it. But, you know, I won't got to tell me I'm the person to do it. And I know that may sound a little corny to some people, some people may not appreciate that. But that's why I've always run my life. So there you go. Prayerful consideration, more or less, as he tries to figure out what he wants to do next. Very nice man. Mm hmm. It seems to be a very honorable man. Yeah, I'd say so. And, you know, so, you know, and as these potential candidates continue to roll through our studio here, we'll ask them that exact question, you know, maybe next time we get Councilman William Carol on, we'll try to ask him, get his thoughts on this. You know, I was just kind of, I wouldn't say I was joking last week when I said Jim Ziegler, maybe for mayor, but he actually ended up on this yellow hammer news list as Jim Ziegler, possibly one of the potential candidates. So it's going to be a fun one to keep an eye on. And we'll go right from the presidential election this year into talking about municipal elections, not that far around the corner. Yeah, not that far around. August, I believe, is the May or August of next year. Uh, and will the heat of next year's summer, you know, put us all in touch of days that we, I'd like to real dummy. We don't even know. It's like 100 degrees every day. We grew like delirious and we make your decision before summer. That way, you know, mind games. Uh, Jeff's poor show coming up, uh, state representative Jennifer Fiddler, and hour number one, Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood joins Jeff and hour number two, and Dale Jackson, In an hour three, stay tuned for a great show.
