A boat full of heathen sailors in the midst of a fierce storm feared for their lives and realizing Jonah was the cause of their predicament threw him overboard at his suggestion. Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly and offered a sacrifice unto the Lord and made vows. They were converted after their brush with death and their obvious encounter with divinity. A young man whose infant son was saved from a fatal heart condition pledged to serve God and raise his son to know the Bible. He didn't. How many people who panicked during an emergency, a terrible storm or an accident or a brush with death, pray to God and then forget their prayer when things return to normal?
