All right, guys. What's up? I'm gonna start out this episode started talking about probably what's been the talk of the town And obviously that's this Jeremy Swamin contract situation I am excited because I get to talk about hockey now So I'm very much looking forward to that after what the Patriots have put me through the past two weeks So it's nice to reverse gears or switch gears and go to hockey where Only the Bruins could find a way to piss me off before the season begins Not Surprisingly, I should say but only them So obviously if you haven't paid attention they are in a massive contract dispute with their now starting goalie They've kind of they've had a tandem the past few years But now you can officially say that he is their starting goal these Jeremy Swamin And It doesn't seem like it's getting any better. It seems like yesterday We hit the pinnacle of stupidity and childishness when Cam Mealy at the Bruins press conference yesterday between the CEO Charlie Jacobs Cam Mealy the president of hockey ops and the general manager Don Sweeney Pretty much put Swamin and his group on blast Coming out in saying that And I quote there I'd have 64 million reasons to be playing for us and quote Obviously not a team that is very open with contract negotiations They've never really been that way in the past everything else that they've ever done has been very Hush hush under the table Not a lot of things leak through that front office It's usually at the last second We sort of hear rumblings that a deal is getting done or whatever it may be it usually doesn't come out until the end so the fact that The Bruins of all people decided to make this Contracting negotiation public is really telling of how bad it's gotten between Either the team and the goalie or the team in the agent or the team and the goalie and the agent. I don't know which is but It doesn't it's not an encouraging sign when anyone starts talking numbers in public so Obviously Cam nearly has that Little bit of an explosion at the press conference yesterday The agent comes out and denies that they've never been offered 64 million dollars, which I said That I would buy a bridge in Brooklyn before I ever believed what a fucking agent ever said and I still do hold true to that Frank Saravali a reporter I'm not exactly sure with where he is now at this point in time, but He reported that the Bruins offer was actually eight times 7.8 So that's like 62.4 or something like that and maybe nearly just rounded up. I Don't know I feel like he's kind of going out on a limb if he throws that number out there But I feel like it's probably been at least mentioned in the past to him whether he a Made that off for himself or Don Sweeney made it or whatever so Yeah, I can't imagine nearly just lied straight out to the microphone Especially of that team and I don't believe any agent and so I'm choosing to believe nearly over the agent and over Saravali's Report, I'm sure he had to have gotten that from the Swam inside because there's no way that Bruins would say what they said and then tell Saravali something different so with that being said what a cluster fuck on all ends first off obviously Jeremy Swam in is kind of the main problem here You know You can't this guy is not Worth it depends on what he is asking for now. There's some reports that he's asking for eight and a half and the Bruins are at At least according to Saravali's report He wants eight and a half the Bruins are at 7.8. I don't know if I believe that because Sweeney made it sound yesterday like they were a pretty far apart still and 7.8 and a half does not sound very far apart. That seems like you call it at 8.25 and you call it a day It seems like and and just based off of Swamans comments in the past He did a podcast where he mentioned, you know wanting to Not take I mean pretty much essentially saying that he's not going to take less because he knows that in the future It's going to affect the goalie market To which I would say he really shouldn't be in the business of saying the goalie market. He's not an unrestricted free agent He's not an unrestricted free agent He does not play as much at least to this point He does not play as much as these other gold tenders have played that get paid. He hasn't won a Vesna He hasn't won a cop. He's only won one playoff series You can't be out here asking for nine and a half ten million dollars whatever he's asking for and expect to Have a team really respect that when you're you said you're not on the open market So it's not like any team could sign him to an offer sheet But they're not going to because they're not going to give up the amount of draft capital that it takes to sign him on top of signing him to a big long-term contract and Yeah, but like I said, there's no real reason why the Bruins would bend the knee To make that deal happen the only reason why He has the leverage to sit out is because they traded leanest omar Who was in the last year of his deal making five million dollars a year? Which is perfect money for a gold tender perfect perfect perfect guy was one of Vesna I don't like him as much as Jeremy Swamin. However, I Do have to give the front office a lot of flack for the fact that They just let an affordable goalie walk while Not did they not know? Jeremy Swamin's demands what his agents demands were going to be his agent has dealt with them in the past with Tory Krug So hard to believe that they thought that these negotiations were going to be easy And they had about you know a month and a half or month at least before between the end of their season and when they traded leanest omar to figure this out So I feel like they fumbled the ball when it came in that regard They throw out all their leverage they either show science Swamin beforehand or they should have at least at the least gotten the barometer on where they thought the negotiations were going to be and potentially traded Swamin before they before the draft where they would have a gotten more for them than they did Omark and B wouldn't be in this situation where they're going to have Jonas corpus solo starting opening night for them Which you know I like cheap I don't I'm not really as afraid of that as some people are a lot of people seem to think that Unless they have Jeremy Swamin and that they won't be able to win a fucking game But somehow Swamin makes them a cup contender. I don't I don't see You know, I think that Corpus alo or whoever I feel like they can patch it Well enough that the team can be at least respectable in Jeremy Swamin's absence But that being said, you know, I'm not too crazy about corpus alo because it's not like he was a guy that They identified and they signed and they were like this guy is gonna be our backup in case Whatever shit hits the fan whether it be Swamin's Negotiation or God forbid Swamin gout hurt and you had to you know turn to the backup that's the only thing that gives me pause they kind of just had him fall in their lap and I'm actually watching the preseason game right now Brandon Busy hasn't looked too bad so far After one period of this preseason game, but the flyers eat they're up one nothing But he hasn't looked great so far this preseason, but who knows we'll see could just be rusty. It could just be camp preseason. You never know But there is it seems like there is legitimately people that think that their season is over unless Jeremy Swamin has signed before next Tuesday Which I think is a little bit crazy But that being said Swamin does give them the best chance to win to win at a high level and It doesn't seem like this is going to end that great It seems like I Mean it's hard to imagine them coming to terms on a long-term deal and everyone's just happy happy gory, but You know, it's business and you know once people get satisfied, you know Time heals all wounds and maybe this will all be you know, something of the past, but I don't know It seems like we're heading down a path of you know, is he even gonna play this year? He's got till December 1st. He has to sign If he does sign is it going to be just a bridge deal where it's takes him to his ufa? Years where you can get paid 10 and a half million dollars in two years And maybe that's something the Bruins should look into maybe they should look into just taking advantage of Having the goalie pissed off for two years and and then see you later I mean ultimately if he wants to get paid, he's gonna have to play well. So, you know, I Don't know. It's just it's it's a real conundrum that they're in but it is I mean I mainly put the blame on the shoulders of the goaltender because he's clearly Not playing ball with them. I Think it's more him than it is the team I think the team just based off my experience with the team or anyone's experience with the team They seem like they cannot wait to pay their players. They just they love holding on to They they overrate their players all the time They never want to trade anybody. They never want to let anyone go. They never want to let anybody walk There's been a couple exceptions. Obviously Tory Krug was one of them which was a client of this agent and You know, they were never big fans of Jake Dabrowsk and so, you know, they let him walk But they did give him a contract extension at one point. So, you know Even if you piss the team off to some degree, they'll still at least pay you for some period of time So I just don't believe that the team hasn't been willing to negotiate What this was the guy of all guys that they chose not to negotiate with. I just don't believe that So I have to shoulder the blame on to him and if I'm looking at some comparisons, you know, you look at Andre Vasilevsky He makes nine and a half million dollars a year. He had already won of Vesna by the time He got that contract You know Sergey Babrowski same thing ten million dollars a year. He was signed as a UFA and He had already won two Vesnas by the time he got to Florida on that on that huge contract Where I think he's trying to beat is Ilya Sorokin in New York with the Islanders He's at eight point two five million now. I would say that Swamin is better at the moment than Sorokin is Sorokin has had comparable stats to Swamin throughout their career. He had a bad year last year, but he wasn't playing on a great team So, you know the Islanders have taken a step back. So part of that's probably he's playing on a bad team But he did not have a good year statistically So if I was taken between the two right now, even though Sorokin plays more, I would take Swamin However, Sorokin signed that deal when he was 29 So he was an unrestricted free agent Swamin doesn't have that Ball it doesn't have that advantage He is an as a restricted free agent for the next two years. So if you sign him to an eight-year deal You're only buying six years of his UFA time so You know, he's he's either gonna have to take a bridge deal or he's going to have in way to get paid or he can get paid now and And he just has to take less over the term of the contract Do I think that in the end he'd be end up being underpaid? Yeah, but unfortunately, that's just the way things work So, you know, if he wants this long-term deal, he's gonna have to take a little bit of a hit in the long run To get his money now So, you know, that's just the way the cookie crumbles when it comes to that You know, that was That's really all I got to say about it. I guess it's just it's it's a giant mess of a situation I'm putting the blame probably 70% on Jeremy Swamin and Perhaps is is more his agent because I fucking hate agents and I can't fucking stand listening to them talk and I know that they're all pains in the asses and I would give about 30% of the Bruins because of just you know Regular of Bruins in aptitude. This is the shit that happens to them they somehow go into the summer with two You know high caliber gold tenders probably you'd say top 10 gold tenders in the league at least top 15 the two of them and You know, they're not They're gonna start the season with neither one of them and that's just that's just stupidity on their end to have that happen And not to mention the sort of cloud that's gonna be hanging over them throughout the beginning of the year God forbid Jeremy Swamin starts missing games because it's gonna be every single time that The Bruins give up a goal. You're gonna hear some some part of the fans are gonna be well, this is why we should be trade paying Swamin and then anytime that The Bruins don't give win a game or don't give up as many goals You're gonna be hearing from one side that why why would we pay this guy a million dollars? It's gonna be a whole thing going back and forth until a deal gets done Which I will say I do get the sense that there's a lot of Bruins fans out there and I I know who you are I know who you are because I know some of you are just they They love the gold tenders. They just get a little too infatuated with the gold tending They treat it like it's the be all and all the team like if you have a great gold tender You're gonna, you know be guaranteed success and it just doesn't it just doesn't really work that way I think that there's plenty of good gold tenders in the league that I would take on my team that I really couldn't tell the difference of Obviously, I like some more than others, but you know I feel like there's plenty of Bruins fans out there. They may be rooting for the team to suck at the start of the year Because they just want Swamin to get paid because they like to make a point. I don't know. I think that that's a little stupid I'm personally probably gonna be rooting for the team more. I hope that I Don't know if that makes me fricking anti-union or anti-worker or whatever, but I'm definitely going to be rooting for them to be first and second place in the division and You know be top five and goals against and then it's like well Now all the leverage sort of comes out of Swamin's hand is that sustainable? Probably not probably not sustainable probably Wouldn't work, you know come April if Jonas corpus solo is your gold tender I can't imagine that that's gonna go well But you know corpus allos been decent in his career. He was on a bad team Last year in Ottawa, and he was terrible So you know like I said was it just he's just the product of a crap team and you know Maybe you can get something out of him or You know is he just really gone down the tubes. He's never really been a great gold tender But you know he's had some decent years in his career. So But yeah, I think that that's where I will end off on that note Another thing I will mention The UFC fights. I'm not talking about the Patriots game on Sunday because that Let me just say I'm not talking about you. I have I was going to I wrote some things down I have absolutely no interest in talking about that at the moment that was painful to watch it was unwatchable I Pretty much blew off probably at least a quarter of the game I mean, it was just it was that bad that team All the fun that the first two weeks brought These last two weeks have just completely have been Worse in the opposite direction They've just They've I thought they were gonna be fun bad. I thought oh wow look at though have journeyman Chloe percett he'll you know, he'll he'll make some plays and make he might be fun to root for he's and you know Nice guy coming back home to his a team that drafted him, but good Lord He sucks. I can't watch him anymore. Really. I mean, I feel bad for the guy but at the same time he's that was the first game that he was a detriment to the team and Yeah, I mean I I Please again, don't subject Drake made of that. I don't see where Drake may is going to benefit from playing behind that O-line, which was better in this week but Yeah, I don't know if there was going to be a week to put him in it would be this week because Good Lord of the Miami Dolphins terrible, but it's I still I I mean Ultimately he's gonna have to get in there and he's gonna be behind a bad team That's just that's just the way it's gonna go. But I still don't think the team is Prepared. I don't think the coaching staff is ready to deal with with the rookie quarterback I think the coaching staff sucks. I think the coaching staff is uninspiring. I think the Offense is boring rudimentary Simple whatever the hell you want to call it it just That nothing is going to be learned from Drake May Playing this year. I feel like so the longer he sits the better They'll just just sit in watch how not to operate as far as I'm concerned Don't do anything that's happening at the moment. Please please But okay So I will get to the UFC fights that were on Saturday quickly just shortly obviously That co-main event was a little bit of between Brandon Allen and Nastardine Imovov. I I feel like I'm pronouncing that first name wrong Imovov. I've always been high on I Feel like he's I always say he's going to be champion of that division and my Barometer of that is that he beat Jared can and here and I feel like everybody that beats Jared can and here goes on to win the title So I'm still kind of high on Imovov and if you watch his highlights, you definitely are like oh my god this guy's frickin world champion in the waiting He does leave some stuff to be desired though Specifically probably with his gas tank. They both got exhausted in that fight In Imovov really had to dog that one out against Brandon Allen who was shooting some terrible shots by the middle of the second round It was getting chewed apart But he got the job done in front of his adopted home there in France and then obviously the main event was I Wasn't that surprised by it. I threw some money on Moicano right before the main event Because I just thought that plus 210 was quite disrespectful to him And he showed why I mean that was really the difference between a black belt a black belt and a guy that's got some You know submissions on his record and obviously BSD is a good is a good grappler He's shown that but and that was a different level and those those ground and pound strikes were Those were vicious those were some of the most vicious ground and pound shots I've seen in a while in a long time. I can't think of um I can't think of last time I saw a guy really just lay into some elbows from mount like that I mean what he did to Benoit Saint Denise face Looked like a horror movie by the time they came out for the second round um And then man, I mean in BSD She was credit came back and he probably won that second round I think he did on all three judges scorecards with his face all mangled up Tough credit to him because that he's a tough bastard. Obviously the doctor stops it because I mean look at his fucking face It looked like hamburger meat, but um Moicano comes in with an I didn't even notice this um at the start of the fight um, you know his Shoulder completely Separated broken whatever the hell it was Um, I didn't even notice it During the fight, but the x-ray afterwards looked insane and obviously the close-up images looked insane The fact that he was allowed to fight with that man, that's crazy, but He gets the job done man handles BSD in the first round and then pretty much takes a second round off and gets the stoppage anyway So, you know good for him. He's an exciting fighter I mean obviously I mean a guy that can grapple like that and and inflict punishment like that is Always, you know my favorite guys to watch because you know, I like rapping Sumi um But yeah, I would love to see him fight Dan hooker um, I think it'd be a little weird to make the patty pimblage fight because uh you know, he You know, he's probably not looking to fight down, but you know, that's that's another fight that would draw a fan interest I'm sure it would be You know Viral for the UFC. So they probably might lean in that direction But yeah, it's nice. We've got another contender there 155 that looks legit in hanata micano. So But that's where i'm gonna end off. Um, thanks guys for listening and take care
