Cowboy's coming up at 620, part of a sports hodgepodge. As Dak said today, that he stopped paying attention to what Jerry Jones says on the media a long time ago. That's definitely the sharpest dagger that's ever been drawn against Jones by a player, at least in a long time, publicly. I'm sure you could give me plenty of private examples where players were very upset with Jerry Jones and I have some in mind as well. But I've never seen, or at least not in a long time, seen that I can remember a player going after Jerry like that and it's basically saying what he says in the media lacks credibility. You know how important that media stuff is to Jerry Jones. So maybe this is a new depth of animosity between the two and how's that story evolved? That's coming up here in 20 minutes. It's a college football super segment here in just a minute, but we got to go around the bases brought to you by Uber Eats. It was an exciting Rangers afternoon. They got a win, Corey Seager hit his 200th home run. They swept the White Sox, but they placed outfielder Travis Jankowski, our guy, Janko, and Robbie Grossman on waivers. Per Kiley McDaniel there on X, who says that the pair are among less than 10 players put on waivers across Major League Baseball today, but it not only clears a little bit of salary, it clears roster spots that they're going to use to involve some young players that might deserve the chance. They did send Jack Lider back to AAA, but they're expected to keep his spot in the rotation and bring him back up early next week. He was still very nervous last night. So that's the biggest thing right now. You don't have a chance. If you're too nervous, if you're feeling overwhelmed, if you feel like I don't know if I can get these guys out, you got no chance. So we got to break through that and hopefully another three or four starts and then an offseason can push him in that direction in a meaningful way. You know he can be calm in baseball, but there's that internal thing that hey, this is the highest level and those guys are better than me and if you can't get through that intimidation or uneasyness, you got no chance. The Rangers have set a date for the final de Gromry half start. It's going to be Sunday night. He could pitch against the Angels next week as early as the sixth. Great piece of journalism from Evan Grant on Kumar Walker. Last night, he struck out 10. Allowed one hit in five innings. His double A numbers are legendary. So we're really excited about Kumar Rocker and de Grom next year. Maybe having a dominant pitching staff, at least with the starters, we'll see what they can do putting the bullpen back together. They do want to keep Rocker to about 50 innings in this first season back from surgery. Right now he's at 31 total. And I think you should bring him up for at least one start. That's about it. Now for a college football super segment. Here's the chief. And it is still crazy. Our guy, Janko. Oh, Blondie. Yeah. After a catch like that. I mean, after how much he means to it. How about me? I thought he saved the season. Couldn't save his job. I know. (laughing) Oh man, that's true, bro. They're just eight and a half back with 34 to go. Yeah. Or 28 to go. It's a miracle. It'll be a miracle. Hey, speaking of miracles, the Brandon IU conversation can finally be put to rest as well. We got college football, but we do need to address during LA Live. We got the news here that Brandon IU, and the San Francisco 49ers have agreed on a four-year, $120 million extension. 76 million guaranteed. So on an annual basis, he is now tied with Tyree Kill for the fifth most money per year for a wide receiver. So that's where Brandon IU goes. Money. Just a touch ahead of Jalen Waddle, who just got paid as well, and is considered a number two wide receiver at this point in his career. So that contract tells you he's kind of like, he's like a fringe one, like top end of the one to, or bottom end of the one to top end of the wide receiver number twos there. But it's finally done and we can stop talking about it. And I know John Lynch is excited about that. His latest quotes are just like, please God, can we get this over with? It's time to play. - You know, I was hearing some whispers out of their organization that they were all very tired of this. - Yeah. - They got tired of, but I'll tell you what happened. That Ricky Pearsall that they drafted out of Florida that was supposed to replace Brandon IU. - That shoulder's real. - That's real. And all of a sudden they were kind of thinking, okay, here's our guy, we're gonna move on, we're gonna trade IU, and we're gonna get something, and then we'll be okay. We'll go with the younger guy that's just as capable. And then when it didn't work out, they got thrown right back in to having to deal with Brandon IU again. You know, and then we're-- - That's commitment. I think there's definitely a price that's gonna have to be paid against the salary cap for them in the future. I think this shortens their run. I don't know how long you could have IU and Samuel M. McCaffrey at those numbers on the same roster and try to build out the rest of it, especially you getting ready to pay the quarterback. - Yeah. - That's not sustainable. You're gonna have to let Purdy go. - All right, college football week one. It's here, ladies and gentlemen. We had week zero last week. I do need to address something about that, by the way, but we're gonna get in Boulder. We're gonna get prime time. We're gonna get Shader. We're getting Colorado. They're taking on North Dakota State, who's pulling out all the stops tonight to try and make sure they can leave Boulder with a victory. But we'll get to that here in just a second, because last week, I don't know if you guys, how much you guys were paying attention to some of those week zero games, but now they have the two-minute stoppage in the second and fourth course. - I have to pay an attention to that. - Okay, do you notice what they've called it? - It's the two-minute timeout. - The two-minute timeout. - Yeah. - They're not calling it a two-minute warning in college football. - The two-minute timeout. - Because that would just be two, I guess, in-the-box thinking, too logical, perhaps. And so you're gonna get college football two-minute warnings. We're all gonna call it a two-minute warning, because that's just what it is. It's nothing different than what the NFL does. It's always been a two-minute warning, but for whatever reason, college football wants it to be the two-minute timeout. - I feel like both these sides over the years have done things weird to not copy the other, like when the NFL didn't have a two-point conversion for the longest time, it's like, what the hell are we doing? - Exactly. - Now, why are we calling it a two-minute timeout? Okay, we all know it's a two-minute warning. Let's keep it consistent. Football needs some uniformity. So when you hear your referee throw it to break there for the two-minute timeout, just know that we warned you. It's a little bit annoying, but at your watch party, it's still the two-minute warning. Okay. - You need to get on board as well. Those end zones are way too deep. - College football happens tonight, and in the FBS, they now have the helmet communication as well in college football. So the coach or whatever play caller could be talking to his quarterbacks, and then once you get to 15 seconds before the play clock expires, then they lose communication. Well, I didn't want to do 14 seconds. Sorry. - So the FCS level does not have helmet communications, but when you're playing an FBS team, you are granted that. Now you have to pay all the money for it. Well, tonight, North Dakota State, who's playing Colorado and FBS team, NDSU will not have another opportunity on their schedule, as far as I know, to use this helmet communication because they don't play another FBS team, but they do tonight, and so they paid all the money, and you have to pay for, like, it's not just a one-game thing. You pay just a flat rate for the season, you're only going to use it one time. So NDSU is dying to win tonight so much so that their school is willing to pay for a season's worth of something they won't be able to use other than for just tonight. So respect on them for that, man. That's why it just means more in college football. - How are they going to feel that expense, though, when it's 28-zip, with 10 minutes gone, in the first quarters, what I want to know. - I'm telling you what, nine and a half point Colorado is the favorite. Nine and a half point favorite. - Oh, really? It's close. - And the public is all over Colorado covering that. - This is a bunch that spins their winter month, after the first year, playing in playoffs. This is a national championship program, North Dakota State. - Yeah. - They might pull the upset tonight. - They play the Montana State Bobcats and the Idaho Vandals. - Yeah, but I'm just-- - We all right, Brian. - If you look at the quarterbacks that again, okay, now we'll say about Trey Lance, but they've had, this team's won multiple national championships. And if you're not a very deep roster, like Colorado. - Yeah. - I'm just telling you, though. - You know football? - Montana, I think it was Montana State. Montana State went to New Mexico and got almost a $400,000 payoff. - Yeah. - And beat them. - And beat New Mexico. - These programs, when you schedule North Dakota State, this has the potential, if you don't have the depth that maybe Colorado doesn't have. - They're the new app state. I just can't think the depth matters tonight. I think he's got enough here. Now is the attrition of the season wears on? Yes, and you saw that last year, and it was even worse last year. It probably won't be quite as bad this time around, but I think like on a night like tonight, when you're healthy and fresh and ready to go, I think he's got enough by way of starters, particularly on his offense, to go ahead and light it up pretty nicely at home. - If their offensive line's not ready tonight, Shadora Sanders, you watched him play last year. He took a beating every week. - Their offensive line sucked. They revamped it. - Yeah, we'll see. - He had to. We'll see how good it is. - Yeah, no, I have no idea. - I wouldn't have scheduled these guys. That's what I'm saying. - Well, if it's getting close, then I think the expense for the mics and the speakers and the helmet, that's worth it. - Yeah. Well, if you're not in a half, you can do this. - Sounds like Broadus would be taking the points there with-- - I could be completely wrong to start this season. I just feel like this is a team you do not want to schedule, just because of their background and their history. - Shadora, I think this is a Vegas mistake. I think Vegas knows that a lot of people in the public are doubting and hating on Colorado and setting this line this low is a gift from the gambling gods. - Sorry. - I actually agree. No, I do agree. Like if I would bet Colorado to cover tonight. Now you do have Nike unveiling a massive Shadora Sanders billboard in New York City at Times Square. And so the Colorado quarterback signed with Nike earlier today. And I see it for that. - See from on three sports. Well, I just see the total NIL valuation for each player. I have the top 10. - Is he over five million yet? - He's just under. He is number one, Shadora Sanders at 4.7 mil. - Dang. He's gonna make more than his dad ever did in a year. In college. - That's nuts, dude. And I mean, what do you think? You think the Joneses are huddled around in the man cave tonight watching Shadora thinking that might be their next guy? - I would think that this would be a very exciting college football season to watch. - I think so. - Yeah. - Arch Manning, number two, 3.1 million. And then the other Colorado Super B's who I'm hitting. - He's taking a dime yet and he's not until he plays. - Well, interesting because on three NIL valuation has him at number two. - Yeah, but I don't think. - I need to check with a young Bennett. Him and Bennett are good friends. But I don't think that he's taking any money until he actually plays. - The commanders paid D on a 8.5 for that one year that he played on that bad toe for him. So he'd have to increase his revenue by about 60% in order to best his old man. - Okay. Well, I think he's capable of it. I don't know if he'll run out of time though since he's going to hit the league next year. But start on a winning streak. I'll tell you what, prize picks tonight, folks. Prize picks back with football season. This is the first time prize picking with football season. So this is extremely exciting. And there's some great value right now on the more. If you want to go hit Travis Hunter who is the do it all two way wide receiver corner, super beast, 99 overall, 99 everything type of dude. That's the dude you want to go more on tonight as you put your, put a couple of little wagers or fantasy selections on the line. Of course, fantasy selections, folks. It's prize picks now, come on. Now we have of course the odds for this upcoming season and who's going to win it all. Obviously they're going to be high on Georgia and Ohio State. Right now those are your favorites to be your national champions. Plus three Hyundai, the Bulldogs, then the Buckeyes plus 325. Then you have Oregon. People are pretty high on Oregon this year. They got the old Sooners quarterback, Dylan Gabriel. He's also a national championship. Well yeah, they got national championship potential. Now if they do that, they will have won basically the three biggest games of Dan Lanning's career. He's still missing that thing where you're like, oh wow, you want a really big game. But they are pretty impressive as a roster and their quarterback Dylan Gabriel, veteran dude played for the Sooners. He's the Heisman favorite as well. Then you got Texas at plus 900. The only other teams with odds shorter than a thousand outside of the Buckeyes in Georgia. So Oregon and Texas will see. And then we also have college game day, college station, collision course. Notre Dame week is going to be a big one. And tomorrow we're actually going to have Doug Farmer at covers.com on. He's a college football just monster at five o'clock. And so we'll get his thoughts on this matchup, this game, and these seasons here. Heat and early conditioning will be a problem for Notre Dame in this game. Oh yeah. Early, the thing you worry about the most in the first game is cramping. And especially if Notre Dame is not used to handling this, which I don't think they are. This could be a really a big advantage for Texas A&M. Well, they're also going to have Johnny Manziel as the college game day guest picker. So of course, if you're going to be in college station, it's a rotating cast every week, wherever college day, wherever college game day is. They try and get a tie in with some sort of celebrity or whatever guest picker. So of course in college station, you're going to bring in Johnny football, so he'll be on the game day set with Nick Saban. I don't know, Lucius, do we have the Nick Saban commercial? Did you guys see the Nick Saban commercial? Yeah, where he's running the house. Yeah, it's a pretty great commercial. I don't know if we have this at home. OK, beautiful. Here is Nick Saban in the newest Verbo commercial. Oh, this is cool. Check in time, it's three. It's 255. I know. Is this what he's doing now? Have a seat. As your host, I have some room. First, no showers, longer than five minutes. This isn't a spa. There's no streaming, only cable television. Any games for the kids? No games, no fun. The kids aren't even allowed in the house. That's the rule. There's a great barbecue outside, but don't touch that. How'd you guys get inside? Two flush maximum for bathroom business. Yes, guys. You guys got about 10 minutes because this is Daddy's time in the tub. Meanwhile, out of Verbo, when other vacation rentals make you share your turf with a host, try one you have all to yourself. He said this is the daddy time in the tub. He was actually in the hot tub with the two guests that were staying at his house. And you guys think he is a shirt on in the pool guy, shirt on in the hot tub guy, or shirt off? Shirt off? Shirt off, you guys got him big. Because he's an alpha, right? He's one of the best in the world. What would he care if you saw his nips? He still plays shirts and skins pick up basketball. Did he go shirt on? He went shirt freaking on in this commercial. No way. He is sitting so beta in this hot tub, calling himself daddy while he doesn't have the guts to just go shirtless. Let it all hang out. Coach O, your guy at LSU, that's what he's going to do. He's going to let it fly. He's showing you a picture from the bed he's in with somebody else. I was thinking last night at the swimming lessons. When parent comes in with toddler, that's a shirt on situation because the swim school employees are shirt on as well. I thought this might be the only shirt on moment for pools is when you're taking your toddler. Remy was killing it. She screamed bloody murder for the first 15 minutes then it was pure dominance. In the pool? Yeah. I think she's the next Ledecky. She's amphibious, folks. That's right. That's fantastic. That is a moment of parenting where you don't know if you're doing the right thing. Letting another stranger take your child and dunk her under the water. I know. I need to teach her how to get back to the top. They're so aggressive with it because there's teachers. They've done it so many millions of times. And you're sitting there like, wow, you're really just going to dunk them like that. And you're sitting there going, especially when your kid's freaking out, you're like, is this worth it? Could we just do this next year? What do we-- but man, there's something about powering through, fighting through that adversity, overcoming it, and then you can just shower them with praise. And they're so pumped for themselves. And that's ice cream time, dude. I think we might have pushed through. Yeah, please till next Wednesday. That's awesome. Yeah, they have a short-term memory that way. Like, don't you forget, you were doing backflips last week. And now you can't even step in the puddle with your floaties on. We're live at Shell Shack on Henderson. Come on by. Get you some delicious food. They have drink specials as well. Shell Shack on Henderson. And we're back not only with the sports hodgepodge, but I want to know what these guys think. How will Jerry react to what Dak said, challenging his media credibility? That's next, the GBAC nations on the fan. 'Cause I feel like the chances that Dack actually moves on are higher than they've ever been, okay? Rob Phillips wrote from DallasCowboys.com whether or not you believe Dack deserves whatever, it's hard to argue against re-signing him, decide from the huge cap hit. If he's not on the roster, there's this. Even if Dallas moved on in 2025, odds are it will eventually debate whether the new quarterback should get paid too. Of the 31 other starting quarterbacks, how many of their contracts give you zero pause? And he threw out five names, Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Rogers, and says that's about 16% right there. There's one in seven, one in eight chance that you end up with the kind of player that's beyond debate. - Yeah, but with some of those guys, at least the jury's still out the same way it was for Dack. The first time he came around with his first deal was like, hey, the jury's still out. I'm not gonna make definitive decisions on the fact that he can't get it done yet. Let's let this thing marinate a little bit longer. You're doing the same thing for Justin Herbert, for Jordan Love, for Trevor Lawrence. You're like, hey, I haven't seen almost a decade of you not getting it done, and that's where you're at now with Dack. So I think that's the difference there is you buy, yes, you have your sure fire guys, and then you have your guys that you're like, you're still on the up and up. They haven't, you don't think they've necessarily max themselves out yet. Dack, you're like, have you? And in most scenarios, there are the random scenarios where if he can get in an awesome situation, and they have a front office over there that can really construct his contract and are willing to go all in around him, that he could still potentially get it done. But I think it's a few and far between franchise where he could go be a Super Bowl quarterback at 65 to $70 million. - I mean, if I could snap my fingers and bring anything to reality, I wouldn't want him to go anywhere. I would want the front office to realize what kind of a player he is and build the kind of team around him that could win the Super Bowl. - Well said, absolutely. - You know, that's what I really want. - 'Cause it's a very good quarterback. We've seen a decade that he's not gonna take this team. I mean, they've been one of the best drafting teams. They can't get past the division around. Like, you can't hope to draft better than what they've done over the last 15 years. You know, reasonably. Last eight years, reasonably. You're just not gonna do better. So I think the only way they win is if they have like a run of three or four drafts in a row where they're picking like four or five guys that are really impacting the team. And now a number of years later, we got this full team with no holes on the roster. That's really how you're winning Super Bowls right now is with a team that has a great passing game which you have but also can run and can play great defense, brush the passer, have shut down corners. Like, you need all of it. It's not like how the Giants won where, you know, that was 15 years ago. Hey, we're in as a wild car team. Those teams aren't going on magical storybook runs anymore because the teams that are close make trades and free agent acquisitions to push their team way over the top. So again, you know, I wanna be careful here to make it not all we're bashing back. I think the front office deserves more of the bashing but what we're talking about is what's most likely to happen from this point forward. Jerry yesterday saying you could easily say if you haven't seen it by now, you haven't seen it. And what he means by that is if you haven't seen it by now that it's not gonna happen, it's not in there. Dak was asked about that and, you know, said a number of things but also said I stopped honestly listening to things that he says to the media a long time ago doesn't really hold weight with me. Do you think Jerry takes that personal? How will that be received by Jerry, Brian? What's he thinking about tonight? Relative to what Dak said today? Yeah, I, to be honest with you, I don't think, I think Jerry, I think Jerry's in a fighting mode now. I really do. I don't think Jerry, you know, he's getting to the end of where his general manager's ship of this team, I think is near the end. And, you know, now he's, you know, he's got these contracts that keep coming up and it's, you know, maybe there's a little disappointment with his own group. You know, how did we not stagger these? How did we not get on this? Why am I the one that has to stand here and kind of take the heat for all this? You know, I think there's a little bit of a disappointment that they couldn't get some things done and made these contracts. No, but that's, you know, that's, maybe that's the way that Steven wants to negotiate the deals and Jerry's like, no, maybe we need to do it this way. Me personally, you asked the question early and I didn't have an answer, I didn't get an answer. I don't, I want to see them signing. I want to see the, oh, yeah, I do. I want to see the Cowboys signing. Because I do, I do feel like, though, that they, as you mentioned, they can draft. Well, I think it, I think they're to that point right now with him that he's in that window of where he's gotten, he's getting better every year. We used to talk about interceptions and problems and stuff like that that-- It was sex early, yeah. Every year, it seems like, you know, the playoff success, there's no question that it's been a problem, or lack of success, no problem there. But I kind of feel like, though, that he is in that prime window. And I do think the offensive line, like you've asked, will help them have a better running game. And the key is going to be, how do they manage these backs? And do you, and now, I'll be disappointed if they waste Zach Martin's last year with a combination of backs that can't get the job done. Yeah, but I mean, when you're talking about-- But that would help, that would help. So you're talking about him evolving to a point where he's good as Mahomes, that he can carry him-- There's no, but you're asking, you're asking, nobody will ever be better than Mahomes. I mean, be as good as burrow, who we saw almost immediately him have the ability to go toe-to-toe with Mahomes. His health is already better than burrows. Yes. His availability is better than burrows. So if you're going to tell me that, oh, can he be better than burrows? Yeah, burrows sits out 16 games, 12 games. But burrow has accomplished more in the postseason than Dak has, even in a much smaller sample. Absolutely. He's at least proven that he can live to team up. But if you tell me-- yeah, he's has. And Josh Allen has gotten his team to an AFC Championship game. He's accomplished more. Lamar Jackson has two. So it's not just Mahomes. It's a-- but he said Mahomes. He asked me, can he be at home? And I'm now giving you some more. OK, better than Allen, I think there's time-- some of the same problems that Buffalo fans deal with with Josh Allen. Are you happy with red zone interceptions? No, I'm not. I'm not bad at having problems with Allen. You guys were-- if there was anybody that I was doing radio with that hated Josh Allen, it was you cats. And you cats-- and now you want me to come-- now you want me to sit there and say, oh, is he better? I told you the guy was going to be a good quarterback. I told you that. But now you're going to throw Josh Allen at me. And I'm like, whoa, whoa, boys, you know? So in this scenario, Brodus-- I feel-- don't interrupt right now. In this scenario, when Josh Allen is now better, am I supposed to keep telling you that he's not going to be good or he isn't good now that it's-- I told you he was going to be good. And we've seen him go to overtime versus Mahomes in Arrowhead in an AFC Championship game? Absolutely. Absolutely. So I knew the guy was going to be good. OK, I know I did. And we were late to the party, but we shouldn't be here, right? We shouldn't be keep telling you stupidly that he's not good. But like I'm saying, the doubt should be-- should I trust you for your quarterback evaluation? If you didn't think Josh Allen was going to be good? It's not my evaluation. It's the fact that he hasn't gotten it done in about a decade's worth of opportunity. There's no subjectivity to it. It's the same thing with the whole thing with Jerry. It's the opportunity to get in the playoffs. And it's the hat. We went for years talking about Peyton Manning and his lack of success in playoff games. That was the organization. How many years did we go through that? How many-- how many was it? Five years, six years? He never could seem to win playoff games. And what they needed ultimately was a great front office that gave him the defense. And said, instead of trying to make the playoffs every year, we've been ruining Peyton Manning for a decade. This defense might be better. This defense might be better than the defense that Dan Quins had. Yeah, I agree. So to me, I'm willing to give it a shot. I've been in an organization. I was in two organizations that had no quarterback. OK, speaking of giving him a shot, if you read Tim Kalos shot the day in the morning news, and I rarely do, because I imagine him clearing his throat like 100 times throughout the course of the column. But he wrote it like, Jerry's doing the right thing for putting this on deck, kind of like they did with Jason Garrett. Like, go win in the playoffs, or we're done here. Do you think that's the line that Jerry has right now is similar to Jason Garrett, another man who was basically his adopted son, loved having him in the organization, had all the right work that they had. Jerry has questioned, Jerry has questioned whether this is the right guy. This is nothing new to Jerry. Yeah, you were telling us that five years ago. Yeah, exactly. There were people when I was with Dallas Cowboys.com that were in the organization. And now, I bet you Dak is like, when he talks about, hey, I haven't listened for a long time. Because he probably heard the whispers that Jerry was saying, hey, well, is this really our guy? Is this really our guy? And you know, and Dak's probably like, fine. If you don't think I'm your guy, he even said it. It says a lot. It says a lot that they haven't got the deal done. And there could be that point. Me, personally, I would try and get the deal done. They pushed so much money back with Dak and Tyrant Smith and Zach Martin and Zeke, that their salary cap situation in the future is so screwed over, you have to pick one of these high-page stars and say goodbye to them if you want to have any chance of resetting this thing by like 2026. You do another deal with Dak. You're just creating another big pile of dead cap that you've got to push into the future. And it gets annoying to talk about those kind of things. But I will be surprised, because I think the Cowboys love having the ability to market with a franchise quarterback. I think any team without a franchise quarterback is basically fighting with one hand tied behind their back when it comes to trying to be relevant. You're flushed by every fan. You don't even have a quarterback, not even paying attention locally and nationally. And I think that business certainty and the ability to get into the playoffs will ultimately win out. We're now in a day in an age where quarterback dead cap money and all that, it doesn't affect the team. It really doesn't. Look at all the teams that just get rid of their quarterbacks. And they go ahead and say they put 40, 50 million dollars into its dead cap. And they say, you know what? We're going to survive it. We'll survive it, you know? Because they're willing to flush a year. Yeah, they're willing twice a decade to say, this is our year where we're going to be tearing. This year won't flush a year because they feel like they draft well enough not to have to flush it. Yeah. I'm a place that that's when he was sitting there. But their post-season results prove they're wrong. It's been three decades of their philosophies, you know? And we need the light bulb to come on with somebody over there with the last name, Jones. And say, hey, guess what? Just building a team to make the playoffs is actually the reason why we're dead on arrival when we get here. We're not competitive. We've been embarrassed on one side of the field or the other or both. Degree Bay Flush a year? Yeah. Could they flush a year? They went out and got the pass-rushers. They usually credit card to get the two pass-rushers in, like, 20, 20. They flushed a year with Rogers, right? They had massive, massive dead money. Or Rogers, when he went to the Jets. But you have a rookie quarterback sitting here. Everybody feels like they're probably better team than Dallas. Yeah. You know? They didn't flush it. Better go. They just took the-- they just took the dead money on. Well, that's a rebuilding year, you know? They're in-- And they plan to head with-- They make your rafting a flowcard. --hic and grooming him being ready for the-- Yeah, I mean, that is-- There's teams who are willing to eat dead corporate money. Yes. Green Bay did not flush a year as other teams do. Green Bay was the organization that had maybe the best quarterback in the NFL for a decade and had similar problems to the Cowboys. You know, you want to compare Aaron Rogers to Dak. Dak is really not even close to that category of a quarterback. The Packers were trying to make the playoffs every year. And with Rogers-- And kept failing. --because of a team that couldn't play defense, couldn't rush the passer or couldn't run. Every year they got there, they've having similar problems as the Cowboys. I think the Rams ate cap, right? On golf? Rams are maybe the best at it. Yeah. Rams, and then-- There's teams willing to eat cap, you know? It should not affect the way that you operate. It shouldn't. I think you draft well. It's math, though. Everybody has the same amount of money they can spend over five years here. I understand that. But we're acting like that teams aren't willing to do it. The Cowboys should be willing to do it. They want to move on from Dak. Great. Eat the $40 million in trying to-- You're going to have to. Yeah. This shouldn't. But if you want to-- if you sign him in two years' time, you want to get rid of it, teams move on. They quarterback dead cap all the time. Yeah, and I will just say, for Jerry to hold the Jason Garrett feet to the fire, like he got to do something here, he's doing it with Dak now, it is a bummer that he won't do that to himself. And he's the most common theme over the championship drought. So he wants all everybody else's feet to the fire, but it's never going to be his. Yeah. And that is a huge bummer. But then if you back him to the corner on that conversation, ultimately he says, I bought the team and I want to do it the way I want to do it. We got to run. It is the G-Bag Nation Live at Shell Shack on Henderson in Dallas. We're coming back to cross talk with the Get Right. Thank you, Lucius. And thanks to Shell Shack for having us out. You know, with an order of 48 bucks, you can park for free at Shell Shack in Arlington if you're heading to the Cowboys or Rangers. It's a great way to go to the yard or the staging. We have an anonymous agent survey to talk about tomorrow. We'll be live at the Globe. And we were going to talk about it today, but we got hijacked by Dax saying he doesn't pay attention to what Cherry says in the media, which has been a lot of fun to talk about. The other part about this, what's he mean by-- he said that the negotiations with Dax have more to do with our situation than it does with the merits of Dax being the quarterback of the Cowboys. That's where he's talking out of both sides of his mouth, where it's like, you know, if you haven't seen it yet, are you really going to see it? But he's also saying like, but we feel good about Dax. We know what we have in him. It's not like we're trying to decide if we want him. We know we want him, but we've got three guys to pay in Lam and Parsons and then Dax. And you've got Trayvon Diggs with big money. So he's trying to figure it out from that standpoint. I think that's what he means. Fascinating. I'm more considering than ever that maybe Dax is not going to be the quarterback in 2025. I'm still over 50% that he will be back, but this is definitely very interesting as a level of animosity between the player and the owner of the Cowboys that we have, you know, seen in a long time as we get set now for the get right, gentlemen, good evening. How the heck are you? What's up fellas? A spirited conversation nonetheless about Dax and Jerry. And I tend to agree with, and I don't know, you guys have all had different takes on it, but look, I think if you do decide to part ways with Dax, which it sure feels like it's going to be that way, I agree, you're going to have 50% of the fan base and maybe even more than that, but I think people are going to be that much more excited about the possibility of a new quarterback regardless of who it might turn out to be. Yeah, you know, we might have to sit through a year of Trey Lance. Who you with tonight, Fred? Got you down, man. There he is. There he is. The 30-time Hala Famer, Chris Arnold. How the hell are you doing, buddy? I'm doing great. I got a different angle on this Dax thing for Cowboy fans to consider. They should look at Dax as an NBA free agent. And the reason I say this is the NBA free agents, if you're a star, you hold all the cards. Dak Prescott holds all the cards. There's absolutely no logical reason for him and Todd France to negotiate during the season. You wait till the end of the season and then you let these other teams whine and dine you. And then you decide where you might want to go. The Cowboys are definitely in the mix. And even if the team sucks and doesn't go anywhere in the playoffs because there's only like 16 quarterbacks, there are any good in this 32 teams, there will be 16 teams that will overpay. And so just look at him like, say, a Paul George or somebody that you just know, they might move. And I'm not saying a Cowboy fan should expect Dak to move. I'm just saying, do not expect him for any reason to sign in the regular season. It's just not gonna happen. - What's coming up on the show tonight, gentlemen? - We have, you boy, RJ, a show from Blogging the Boys. He's gonna come on with his day 20. Of course, kind of recap what's been going on. And then Ben Troop, former Florida Gator, former NFL tight end. He's a SEC juggernaut in and of his own right, talking all things college football at 9/20. - It's starting up again tonight. - It's about that time, boys. Little Jayhawks football tonight. Get ready, okay? Get ready as we march to the college football playoff. That's all I'm saying. - I'm looking to see what Colorado does in this first game, see what Colorado looks like. - It starts in 20 minutes. You guys will have it throughout the balance of your show. - We'll keep some updates. And we've got some high school football all over the place, it's kicking off already. So dad, we'll throw in some baseball, props to those Rangers getting done third time in a row. - I like your, I like your Dak thoughts there, CA. I mean, if your Dak, why not? At least give yourself the opportunity to be wind and dined. - Yeah, nothing to lose. - You get flown out by a bunch of different owners, you have some great dinners, and then maybe you leave them all at the altar and you come on back. - Yeah, easily. I mean, it can easily happen that way. - We're for Brandon Ayuk. - Yeah, you ain't kidding. Makes you more valuable. I can't imagine Dak really wanting to leave, you know? - Yeah, he probably won, but guess what? The good thing, what's going on right here? He's no different than Jerry as far as playing poker. The last thing he's gonna do is show his hand. - Yeah, and at some point I feel like they're gonna meet eye to eye and nobody else is gonna be around. It's not gonna be the media and Jerry will wink at him and say, "You know, I never wanted to lose you." You know, I was just saying stuff. - Yeah, exactly. - I feel like he'll let the CD Lamb thing go all the way through training camp for it to be a story for the media, and I think he knows this is gonna be a down year, and he knows this is gonna give the Cowboys relevancy while they're sitting there maybe struggling to get above 500. - Yeah, Jerry has nothing to lose with this thing dragging out, and Dak and his mind is like, if it put like this, it'd be different if he wasn't one of the top 16 quarterbacks. Notice I didn't say top five. It fluctuates where you wanna place him, but he knows there's 16 other teams out there, and somebody's gonna overpay, and this is about which position does he wanna go to? Does he wanna go to New York? Because Aaron Rodgers is done. Does he wanna go to the Raiders? 'Cause he likes playing Vegas, or did he wanna go back to New Orleans? He's from Louisiana. He doesn't have to go to Carolina. What if he wants to be the next time Brady in New England? Who knows what team might out of nowhere to say, "You know what, here's 70 million." - That'd be a lot of fun if you're up for an adventure. Have fun, guys. - Thank you so much. - Enjoy the games this evening, Fred and CA coming up next to get right, thanks to Shell Shack for having us out.
