Friday with open full lines for you. 3-1-2, 3-3-2 ESPN, 3-3-2-3-7-7-6 is our telephone number. Bears and Panthers, our coverage starts at 7 a.m. on Sunday morning all day. On Sunday right here on the home of the Bears, ESPN 1000 as the Bears look to go three and two on the season. And cap, so, you know, what is interesting to me is Caleb Williams as the quarterback for the Chicago Bears and how he is perceived. People believe on one side that Caleb Williams is learning on the job like any number one pick or any rookie, he's learning on the job to try to get, to become a better quarterback. On the other side, some look at this and say, you know, he's struggling too much through four games. He's not, he's not getting it. And what I would say is is that these games coming up, Carolina, Jacksonville, some of the drags of the NFL, there's an opportunity for this office, not just Caleb Williams, but for the offense to really start going here and getting a rhythm as they go into the buy. This is a huge opportunity, huge. First of all, you're playing a team you're better than. There's no doubt about it talent-wise, regardless of what happens Sunday, you're in a better place than they are. That's just the fact, their number one overall pick, a quarterback's been benched. Some are saying he's done in Carolina. I think the sore man in there absolutely believes Bryce Young is done as a starter in this league. You not, Shay? Yeah, I do. So that puts the Bears in a different position 'cause we believe Caleb is the guy at this point. Again, that can all change. They're banged up, I think they had 19 guys on their injury report. 19, where the Bears had nine guys listed, and it doesn't look like any of their key guys are gonna miss the game. Keenan Allen's not even on the report anymore. That's awesome. This is a game you have to have. Again, must win that statement thing. Must win means your season's basically over or is over. Yes. Last night was a must win for the Brewers, and sorry Brewers, see you later. But this is a game you gotta take care of business by hook or by crook, find a way. And it's also, in my opinion, a game that the offense needs to step up. What is your identity? Is your identity what we saw two weeks ago where you're gonna run a lot of stuff to the outside zone runs? Or is it, hey, we're putting three tight ends. There's Comet, Lewis, Everett. Oh, and that's Doug Kramer in the backfield. We're gonna punch you in the mouth till you stop it. What is that identity? And then could Caleb hit some of the deep throws that he's missed on? It's time to go. It is. It is time for the Chicago Bears, and he's, maybe I'm crazy. I just think that against these opponents, Carolina and Jacksonville, and I'm not trying to skip past Carolina. I'm not doing that, Cap. What I'm saying is, is that you know where those two teams are in the NFL, in the hierarchy of the NFL. They are struggling. Andy Dalton is a proud veteran quarterback for Carolina, fine. But you know that the Bears have more weaponry, offensively. So the Bears should be able to have not just one drive that we marvel at. Hey, you see that drive in a third court? No, we're talking about multiple drives where they're eating up clock, where Caleb is comfortable, where the offensive line works as an iron gate to be able to protect Caleb Williams, and that way Caleb can be able to connect to his receivers down the field. And I'll say this, and we'd have in talk about this this week, Cap. The offense has to be more than swing passes to DeAndre Swift. Swift is not here to be able to do the job of Roma Dunesé and DJ Moore and Cole Comette. Oh, no, no. It was easy pitching catch because he took the wins, as we say, right, in football. He took the, there's a win. A wide open DeAndre Swift, five yards away from you. Take that so you can get some run after the catch. But I want him to connect more to Roma Dunesé and more than just one reception against the Rams. More than DJ Moore just getting three. More than Keanu just getting three. I want him to be able to run the football, but also connect to his receivers. So there's a rhythm there. This is all about rhythm between now and the time that they are done with the Jacksonville Jaguars. I want to see this offense be able to be more than just putting up a zero in the first quarter, and then coming alive late. No, no. Throughout the game, get that rhythm going. It's never going to be perfect. But the point is, though, you have to be a competent offense if you really want to be a playoff team around here. Yeah, I don't have problems with the swing passes because I thought that showed incredible growth from Caleb Williams to not force the football down the field and throw like he did where Rome was double-covered and he hit him in the, right in the chest. But he's got two guys hands there and the ball bounces up, picked off in Indy. Or the interception that he threw on the sideline when he tried to, instead of check it down to whoever that is, I'm going to try and make a play here on the lap. That's long gone. He's lucky he wasn't a pick six, but they lost a football game. So I don't have a problem when he checks it down because DeAndre Swift's really good in space. I don't remember at Georgia if he was, you would, if he was that good in space catching the football. I know he was a really good running back at Georgia. Yeah. But again, there's a big difference having five All-American five stars at Georgia and All-American tight end and All-American quarterback, another All-American running back who's your backup and you're playing at Vanderbilt. That's different. All I'm telling you is that what I saw in the Rams game from DeAndre Swift, all the all-purpose yards, the seven receptions, the 16 carries, that's fine. But that can't be commonplace for the Chicago Bears offense. It has to be part of it. But what I'm saying is that, as I just said, I don't mind him taking the wins. However, it has to be more than that for this offense. It's got to be able to run the football. That's paramount. That's number one. It's not my opinion. That's Ibra Flus's opinion. It's not our opinion. It's like he says you got to run the football. However, there's these weapons we've put in place to do something more than just block down field. That's all I'm saying. And as we move forward throughout the season, I expect Caleb Williams to be more and more comfortable with all his weapons. I agree. It's got-- I know that it was Chris Long, because we played it yesterday. Chris Long thinks, oh, making fun of the Bears, saying, oh, they have all these weapons. There's more weapons than any rookie should ever have. No, yeah, they do have all those weapons, and they will be utilized. As far as I could tell, he's making it seem like, well, it's all these weapons and all the Bears are supposed to be four no at this point. It takes time. But I expect for the next couple of games, maybe I'm crazy, for Caleb Williams to really come out and have a better game than he had against the Rams, better game than he had to his whole NFL season, his own NFL career. That's what I expect. Yeah, he's got to continue to develop. Got to continue to develop. Look, at the end of the year, if this team is 8-9, I think there's a coaching change coming. Like, I think he has to win nine or more football games to keep his gig. And I think that's entirely fair. That's not me being a hater. That's not me trash talk and Iberfluze. I think that's fair. It's getting paid millions of dollars. He's a great defensive coordinator, outstanding at his job. And they've given him the talent to execute his defense to the best of their ability. But if this team does not get where we think they should get, at least show progress to nine or more wins, look, you're in a great division. Great. I still think there's regression coming from Minnesota. I do. But we live in this first take world. Oh my God, Jayden Daniels is a better player. Okay, you want that opinion, have at it. It's four games. Can we stop? You know what I want, Cap? I just want for the Chicago Bears to have exciting games like we saw last night on Thursday Night Football. That kind of thing. Where you put the quarterback, puts the team on his back. You know, this whole MVB thing that we talked about with, you know, on our five burning questions is starting to permeate throughout the station. I'm going to be on with Pat, the designer, talking about that same topic later on today about most valuable bear. Where we're scratching and clawing and we're just like him and in harm. Like, who's the cornerstone? Who's the most valuable bear? Is it Brisker? Is it, you know, Jalen Johnson? Is it, the whole thing is that it should be Caleb at some point, the most valuable bear. It's not now, but at some point, hopefully he will be the most valuable bear. - No question. - We could point at him. It's like, that's the guy. That's the guy that makes this whole thing work. - No doubt, but it's not going to happen after four games. In my opinion. - You know what I'm saying? - Yeah. - At some point. - Totally agree. - Yeah. - And then you have to spend significant capital upgrade your offensive line when we get to the off season. Like, I'd like to say, I don't know how to look up who is the best offensive lineman that's going to be a free agent. And then you got three picks in the top 50. Carolina's second, your second, and your first. I want two of those on offensive lineman. I'm always big on take the best player on the board. So maybe it's a defensive lineman. You need help there as well. But I want the best freaking guys on the board. And hopefully it fills a need that I have. - I'm just excited about Sunday. I'm excited about the future of the Chicago Bears team. - I'm excited for every game we get to watch. - I'm excited. And the reason I'm excited is because looking at this defense for years, we've said, defense is going to be fine. Defense is going to be opportunistic. Defense will be able to get a pick six. And again, we're blessed with such a great secondary cap. But I'm excited about in the rumbling of what the offense could be. - Yeah. - All I've ever asked for is a Bears fan is balance. That's all I've ever asked for is balance. And to get into the tournament, to be in the mix in the playoffs. That's all I've ever asked for. - Consistent, we know. - Yeah. - Now, of course. - As a Mark Silverman pop-up. - Yes. That's what I've been looking forward to. And when I watch other games, I go, you know what, I think that the Bears offense could be as good as like what we saw last night, crazy offense on both sides with Atlanta and Tampa. That's what I get excited about is about the future. And I don't mean the future like in a couple of years or my 2032 White Sox. I'm talking about like the future this season. To my this year, game after game where Caleb is getting better incrementally, every game, there's a lead throw. Every game, there's a touchdown comes out of nowhere. Every game, the running game is working. That's the hope. That's the hope. - Totally agree. - So, let's see. We'll see where this whole thing goes. You can only get to one and all this week. And then they're gonna leave. I think early Tuesday morning, maybe late Monday night, they're gonna get on that jet and head to London. You wanna get to London three and two. By hook or by crook, by dominant or whatever, you better be three and two. - Moving Shane Waldron aside, moving the offensive line aside, moving the weapons aside, let's just focus in and hone in on Caleb Williams, the quarterback of the Chicago Bears. Bears fans and Shayla's over the phone lines, 3-1-2-3-2-E-S-P-N-3-3-2-3-7-7-6, right now through the first four games, based on what you've seen. Are you thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle when it comes to Caleb Williams? You've seen him play. You got a sample size of four games and how this offense works. Again, he's a number one pick. He's gonna be the quarterback for the Bears for quite some time. Thumbs up, thumbs down, thumbs in the middle when it comes to Caleb Williams as a quarterback of the Chicago Bears. Yes, as you're driving along or listening to the show, you already have an opinion. Let's hear it. We'll hear from Shane Waldron, the offensive coordinator for the Bears, and your phone calls as we move forward here, as we get ready for the Bears in the Carolina Panthers. Coverage start to 7 a.m. on Sunday, right here on the home of the Bears, ESPN 1000. If you missed something, get the podcast on the ESPN Chicago app. Captain Jay Hood, our back on Chicago's Home for Sports. ESPN Chicago. Hey, how'd the Brewers do last night? They fell short against the Mets yesterday. I put out a video last night. It's over a hundred thousand views. Take that, Brewers! (laughing) Oh, I had fun. When Future Cub Peter Lanzo stepped in the box in the eighth Future Cub way up and way out. Hey, what's the difference between the 2024 Milwaukee Brewers and the 2024 Chicago Cubs? Four days, four days! Take that, Brewers! Bye-bye! We got all three games in Milwaukee at our stadium. Bye-bye! See you, head to the golf course. Go fishing 'cause you're out and guess what? Our front office got their back up against the wall. Oh yeah, they're gonna spend money and they're gonna add on. Guess what? Bye-bye! Hope you enjoyed those four days. Gone! Ha-ha! Take that! Yeah! That was fun, man. Huh! Had a glass of wine and sitting there almost knocked it all over the place. Yeah, sounds like it. Wow! Sounds like you were half in the bag. I got up off the couch. I'm like, get out of here! Get out of here! Go on! See ya! I'm that all-star closer dude, David Williams. One thing for sure is that you wish that you could be able to bottle that kind of enthusiasm in those moments through 162, but you just can't. There's a reason why the postseason is still great in Major League Baseball. It's the best. It's like football, like you and I, we text during the games and I'm talking pro. It's amazing. And we have fun with it. Oh man, but holy cow, when you get to the postseason and you see the drama that we saw and he gives the chef's kiss going around first and he F-Yack comin' toward third. I was like, this is amazing. Look at those brewer fans, just crestfallin'. We're gonna find out from you whether you're a thumbs up, thumbs down, or thumbs in the middle when it comes to Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears. As the Bears get ready, take on the Carolina Panthers. Well, New York, down. They did it. And the crew will have it in here tonight. Really a crushing end to what was a fabulous season for the Milwaukee Brewers. I'm tellin' you, that one had some sting on it. Oh, yuke. Brewers baseball brought to you by-- You singers. Sad. Sad sausage taste in today, yuke. From Amfam Field on the Brewers Radio Network. Sad. He'll have a sense. Here's the pitch. Swing and a fly ball to right field. Pretty well hit. Freel it back at the wall. He jumps, it's gone. He did it. He did it. Pied Alonso with the most memorable home run of his career. Pumps his fist as he rounds second. That's a three-run homer. He's given the Mets a three to two lead. They all pour out of the dugout. Alonso won his way to home plate. They're waiting for him. He hits the plate. He is first congratulated by Nemo. Hooked by Lindor. There are a dozen men waiting for him outside the dugout. Pied Alonso keeps this fairytale season going with the fairytale swing of his career. Three to two New York. How he rose. That's one of the best calls I've ever heard. That's, you know what that is? That's a Metfan. That's a Metfan, right there. That's a Metfan that's been there forever. And I want a fan in the, like, your socks guy. When Hawk was going on, like, that was a socks guy. Yeah. Like, it bothered me when they beat the Cubs, like, whoever hit the homer. I want a fan of my teams in that booth. Like, I know that Joni acts a Bears fan. Yeah. Like, I get excited. It's a Hall of Fame call there by Howie Rose. He's awesome. And then-- Well, New York. Oh, God. Down. They did it. And the crew will have it in. Uh-oh. So long, you. Back to the boat. 312-332-ESPS-332-3776 is our phone number. As we talk to you about the Bears, let's go to Royal, who's in Oak Park. He was the first one to call us on Captain J. Hood. All right, Royal, good morning. Good morning, hello. What's up? Rick, Royal, what's up? I've been a long-term pal. I used to call you when you were on TV. You always called me Royal Flush. That's right, my guy Flush. What's going on, man? Listen, man, look, I love you guys. I just wanted to make a point this morning. We always-- we talk about the real problem, which I feel is the coach. But we were in a close game that we should have warned. And we sort of forget about it. I think that Post missed on offensive rhyming, but he's the best way he didn't hire a coach when he was getting catered. Because for the three years, that even Flush has been there. If you watch the game, he's always our coach. It seemed like he's still learning on the job. I mean, I think he had great defensive coordinator. We need to accept that. I think we need to cut our losses, whether we make the playoffs or not. Because when you watch these other teams around the league and Atlanta and Tampa Bay going up and down the field, well, Coach C, Mooney looked like somebody we didn't even know. But they've never used them right here. I mean, I think it's just time that we get a coach, like you said, about the Cubs. They need it mad and to get them to the World Series. I don't see even Flush taking the barriers to a silver ball. Well, this is what I was saying in the off-season, Royal, is that I think that if you upgrade your wide receiver position, you're trying to upgrade other positions on the field. Why don't you upgrade the head coach? But Ryan Polls feels strongly about Mattie Reffluse. And here's the thing. You may get your wish. If the Bears underachieve, you may get your wish. I thought it should have been a year early. But here's where we are right now. So you have to move forward. So he did not extend him. So as much as I agree with your premise, that Ryan Polls feels a certain way about Mattie Reffluse. Mattie Reffluse has one year left on his deal after this season. You cannot tell me that if this team goes 7 to 10, 8, 9, or even 9 and 8 in offense, doesn't look like it should look by the end of the year, you cannot tell me that he's not going to make a change. Because then you start to come at your standing. Hey, man, OK, you put all these pieces in place. It's something's not working here. What is it? I would think that unless they have a really good year-- I'm not telling you I'm going to win a Super Bowl or get to the NFC title game-- they've got to win a significant number of games. Or I think there will be a change. I think that's fair. Matt would tell you that. Yeah, I think that's fair. It's fair enough. It's about results, man. I mean, this is not tiddly winks or preschool. It's about business. Look, David Ross won 83 games. Get up. Right? Yeah. Ricky Renteria was there with the Cubs. Not the Sox, with the Cubs. That thing started to turn north in 2014. The last seven, eight weeks, you're like, well, that looks like a different team. All these kids, Addison Russell and Bryant and all these guys are going to be coming. And you go, oh, better. Get out. Joe Madden's available. My hockey hero, my hockey hero, number 18, Dennis Savard. Get out. You're going to commit to the Indian. You're not going to commit to the Indian. We're going to take you upstairs and get you out of here. No, you're out of here. Go on. Sorry, Savard. Guess what? Joel Quenville's coming in. A winner. Yes. And then he did it to Renteria again on the Southside. Hey, Ricky, we appreciate everything. Get out. There comes Tony. Yeah, that was a bad hire, but the premise still stands. There's A to B coaches everywhere. Yeah. And so we will see what this season brings. That's all I can say. The Bulls, the Doug. Yeah. Whatever that whole story ever is, they got rid of Doug who went, what, to the Eastern Conference final? Yeah. Get out. Phil, step it. It happened. So Royal, you may get your wish. We understand. He may get flushed. Yeah. No question. 3-1-2-3-3-2-E-S-P-N-3-2-3-7-7-6-R phone number. In Lyle, here's Lewis on Cap and J-hood. Lewis, good morning. What's up, Lewis? Good morning, guys. Just first off, I want to apologize for yesterday. You caught me at a very bad time, where someone has that call was going on. Someone absolutely needed my helping an emergency situation. But that's OK. Well, next time we'll call you at a more convenient time, Lewis. That's on me. That's on me. Well, I just got to say, I think I-- A, I'm some sideways or angled up for Caleb, because as I've said every time I've called in, Caleb has gotten better. Every single game, we're not seeing any regression. I mean, you can see it in instead. You can see it in his passorating everything. Now, with regards to what I think we need to do, I mean, really the offensive line, I think we have some pieces there. I don't know why Donald Wright has a aggressive way he is, but I think he's a mauler. I mean, we saw what he did in college. We saw what he could do last year. Maybe move-- I don't think Nate Davis should be in that lineup. And I think everyone can agree with that. You could move Kevin Jenkins to right guard. That's where he's more natural now that we don't have Nate Davis in that lineup. Acting like a prima Don alignment, saying that he'll only play right guard. He then puts Kevin Jenkins back to his more comfortable position at right guard. Move Matt prior to left guard once he's back. Or not Matt, prior to Ryan Bates, sorry. And honestly, from there, I think your running game is going to get a whole lot. But I know that you have Kevin Jenkins. And you're probably your biggest mauler at right guard. And Donald Wright, your best run blocking tackle, you can run behind those two. And honestly, in the passing game, Caleb's just got to bring his throws back. It seems like he's consistently overthrowing him, which that's correctable. As long as it's precise and consistent, that's an easy correction. It's not like he misses hard left. Miss is hard right. Miss is short. Miss is long. He's always missing long. That's something that he can correct. And I have 100% believe that this is something that will be corrected. And I will-- everybody's saying, Jake Daniels is better? He's not better. He's playing in a simplified system that Cliff King's very designed for a rookie quarterback that I'm willing to bet. I'm not about $20 right now. And I will actually value this if I'm wrong, that come mid-season or by the end of the season, teams will have figured it out. And Jake Daniels will show signs of being a rookie. He's not going to look like this by-- But don't-- well, here's the thing, Louis. You don't have to root against him. You have to root against him. Let him live his life as a rookie. I don't compare Caleb Williams to Jake and Daniels or any other rookie. I compare Caleb Williams to the previous quarterbacks that we've had. Like, let Jake Daniels let him be if he's going to be a rookie of the year, whatever, whatever. Jake Daniels' career has other to do with Caleb Williams. And maybe he does regress to the mean. But the point is, though, is that he's off to a really good start. As I've been saying this recently, Cap, I think you've heard me say that I'm not a jealous fan. I'm not. I only care about my teams and the teams that I have energy for. And why do I care about what's happening with the Washington commanders until we play them? Correct. And so I don't care about what's on the other side. Well, they've got that. And welcome. We don't have that. And we don't-- I'm not a jealous fan. I just care about how our teams get better. Just keep getting better every day, man. Let's go. That's all I'm saying. Right, Yook? Well, they are down. They did it. And the crew will have it in. And Brewers Baseball brought to you by Gruber Law Offices. Gruber Law! As the Brewers lose against the Mets. Devon William, blown safe. Oh, that taste. Well, New York, down. They did it. And Growers. My Delta Dental. Yes. For your team, then your gums Delta Dental. Sanding, her and Milwaukee. On the Brewers. Radio network, I'm 90. Sad. More of your phone calls are the Bears. 3-1-2-3-3-2-E-S-B-8-2-3-7-7-6 is our telephone number. Are you thumbs up, thumbs down, or thumbs in the middle when it comes to Caleb Williams? Do four games? What do you think? Let's talk about it. Shout-a-no-shot at 8 o'clock. All part of the mix on Cap and J-hood. Welcome back to Cap and J-hood. You're officially locked in. On Chicago's home for sports, ESPN, Chicago. It's a Cap and J-hood morning show on ESPN 1000. And streaming on the ESPN Chicago app, or with you till 10 o'clock that Mike Greenberg comes in at 10, Carmen and Mirko at 12, 1-1 Sylvia at 2.30, and Blecken Abdullah at 6.30. Right here on Chicago's home for the Bears and the White Sox, ESPN 1000. If you're just joining us, we're talking about the Bears, they're matching against Carolina. Let's Carolina. Nothing's guaranteed as you will know in the National Football, like anything could happen. But my whole point cap is that you're going to get better, the hope is that you get better week after week offensively. It's not going to be the, oh my God, Cap, 500 and nine yards thrown by Kirk Cousins. It's not going to be that. Maybe you get that in maybe two games, maybe two and a half games for Caleb Williams. But the point is, though, is that each week, we expect for the offense to get better. And so these two games against these two opponents, especially as inept as the defensive line is for both teams, that the Bears can run the football and the Bears can be comfortable offensively. Yeah, my wife has Kirk Cousins on her family fantasy football team. We have 10 members of the family, sons, daughter-in-laws, the whole deal. Dead last is me, oh and four. Dead last. And she has Kirk Cousins, or as she calls him, Kurt. She texted the family, Kurt. Kurt Cousins, take that. I'm like, oh my God. And when she went to bed, she's like, hey, what's your record again? Oh, I said, yeah, oh and four. She's like, oh, well, I had Kurt Cousins. I'm like, it's Kirk, but yeah, 509 yards, she's just cruising. Can't you even rest when you're on home? No. You just want to just be able to rest. And she's giving you the take that. You just want to rest. To my daughter-in-law, Jen, who she knows about football you could put in your eye and have room left to see with. Yeah. She crushed me, crushed me. My daughter-in-law, Maggie, that made me a $10 Starbucks gift card. Crushed me and then Monday morning said, can I get that card because I want to go get coffee today? Oh, God. Geez. Yeah. Hold on. I'll go on the app. Can we trust Kirk Cousins in the prime time? I think we can now. I think that whole thing is turned. The final drive against the Eagles, he walked that defense down the field. They win the game last night, 500 yards. Prime time Kirk Cousins is a problem. Brother. And so I know the bare fan is like, wait a minute now, didn't kill throws. How many passes? I get it. It's not necessarily the right recipe to win football games. But when you rush for 73 yards like the Atlanta Falcons did, and you put it on Kirk Cousins arm, 42 for 58, 509. Four touchdowns. That's college football right there. That is. Like the guy at Hawaii. Yes. Yes. That's not a formula to win. No. But it's good enough to beat the Buccaneers yesterday. Correct. 509. I bet he didn't even know he threw 58 passes. Correct. I bet he didn't even know. Just like Caleb didn't know how many passes he threw against Colts. 52 passes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You got sacked four times on a pass attempt. Two. Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. And Tom is with us on the ESPN Chicago app. Hey, Tom. Good morning. Good morning, gentlemen. Everyone dinner. What's up, Tommy boy? Hey, I was wanting to talk about, I was hoping that three mom and dodgy, they got to the main right. It gets it's master's Sunday. Corona. Yeah. Corona. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I really want to see how well he would do that. Like, let's start getting in some work and something about our defense to is built to stop the path. Like it seems to try to catch up like that's how our defense is built to stop them. So we haven't seen how we at our defense could be yet. How long have you been a Bears fan, Tom? My whole life. I was raised in Naperville. I moved here when I was a kid. No kidding. Yeah. I've been in Tennessee for 25 years now. Pigeon Forge. Like what's what's a big night out in Pigeon Forge? Uh, there's a lot of hiking and stuff. There's some worries and bars to go to and stuff. The biggest thing is watching Tennessee football. Dollywood's right there. Yes, sir. Yeah. It's right there. Close. How would you know that? I'm Jonathan Hood. That's how I know, pal. Wow. Tom, we appreciate a telephone call. 3-1-2-3-3-2. ESPN is our phone number. You know, if you want a real answer. You know what the answer is? Yeah. The real answer is I've seen Dollywood featured on Entertainment Tonight. They've gone through the house and just like the whole amusement park thing of Dolly Parton. That's the real answer. How would I know that? Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. And that's something. That is. Long time, Bears fan, please call again, Tom. As far as Amagogy is concerned, well, Cap, is he healthy? That's one. Is he healthy? He's practicing. Okay. So if he's able to go through practice, he's not on the injury report, then he's healthy. Is he ready? Look, these guys who get, we could say what we want about the coaches, or Shane Wildrenness or Eber Flustace, they're not stupid. They got to this level. They got to know something about football. You don't get a gig in the NFL. And they see him every day. If they thought he was ready to plug and play and whatever position on the offensive line, he'd be in there. Yeah. Yeah. That's the name. It's the name we have not heard all season, but again, he's a rookie and a project, quite frankly. Correct. He's a project. Correct. He missed most of last season with a quad injury, but polls like some. I know Bears fans listening is like, well, why didn't we get a more genuine article than a kid from the, you know, from the Ivy League? Right. Yeah. And you'd be right. I get it. Right. But there may be, there may be a huge amount of upside coming. There's been good players out of the Ivy League before. Jigots. And jigots. There's one. There's one. That's one. Yeah. But if you go back through, I mean, there's been a ton of Ivy League guys. You do not have to go to the University of Michigan or Ohio State or Georgia or Alabama. There's other good players too. We go to Brooklyn, New York listening on the ESPN, Chicago app here is Derek on cap and Jhood. Derek. Good morning. Good morning. Fellas. How y'all doing? We are great demand. I'm great too. Man, my Mets one. I'm so happy. You know, I'm a season ticket holder. You guys never knew that. I never brought it up, but I'm bringing it up there. How is it that? Wait a minute. How do you hide that from us, didn't you? You're a Mets season ticket holder. Oh my God. When I call, you know, it's always, you guys, you know, you talk cubs. I really don't have too much to say about the cubs and the white socks. So I don't really comment, you know, you know, most of the time I call this really about the bears, but I'm a guy who I miss when I became a man when I moved in in the mid 80s. So, you know, it is what it is. Well, you know what? Well, give me a little feeling, man. We'll give you a good feeling about last night. You want to hear the call? One more time. Let's hear it. Let's hear it. Well, let's hear it. Okay, different language though. Different part of you. Oh God, you guys are great. Oh God, you guys are great. You guys are great. I still love these two babies. All right. There you have. There's your Mets call. So right. So about the bears, man. I just want to say this. My thumb is up, but here's the thing, man. I call, you know, I basically kind of repeat what I said a few days ago when I call it's basically on the offensive line, man, and on coaching with Shane because if the offensive line can protect this man and Shane can call the right plays at the right time with this man's skill set, then he should be, I'm not, listen, I don't want Caleb to be Jada Danes. I don't want Jada Danes to be Kayla Williams. I want Kayla Williams to be Kayla Williams, you know what I mean? That's, that's how I feel. And I think he can be a very, I'm not going to say great court, a very good quarterback for us that can take us far, but we have to make sure we put the tools around him for success. And that's coaching and or God damn offensive line or old line and Kat, want to tell you something, man, I love, you know, I love you and hoodie to death. I really do. But Kat, I got a rainy up array, man. The opponent is going to open up the checkbook for a lines up because of what he did yesterday. So he's not going to become a cop, my brother. I love you. Sorry to disappoint you. He will be a met. He will get signed to a long term deal and I love you, man, but you guys got to find somebody else. Don't bother. Don't polar bear incoming to Chicago. He runs away after that. I got a rate on your parade cap. I love you. But polar bear stayed here, Derek. I'm just telling you, you and your met brother and we're ready to chase Alonso out, especially after the misplayed botched fly ball. And five for 30, his last 38, he hits a big home run and like, yeah, everybody's been in on this whole Mets thing in the second half and door. All these guys, right? All these guys have been in on it, except for Alonso. All I'm telling you is that he's beloved now because he's a hero. But before all this, he was the guy that's struggle. He's the one that wasn't in the mix for the Mets for them to get to where they are right now. But he can't do it in the big way. I mean, that one of the biggest moments in Mets history right there, Cap, it's funny. You as a Cup fan, you, I guess because you're, you are younger, you'll have that animus against the Mets, like older Cup fans do. I don't like Sano, I mean, he just despised the Mets. I get it. Yeah. You'd have, I've never heard you like. No, I'm not anti-met. That's interesting. I'm not. Because you're younger than these other guys. I don't cheer for him, but I'm not anti-met. I'm not like, oh God, the Mets. I wanted them to wax the Brewers ass. I loved it. Take that, Brewers. Because you're. It's our rival. You're just nine years old and 69, so you don't have that black cat. I hadn't even turned nine. I turned nine in November. Yeah. I was eight years old. Yeah. You're like most of my Cup fan friends, this anti-cardnel, and I get that. The three teams on my despise list, the Cardinals are number one. The Packers are number two. And then Notre Dame football fighting ours. I don't care about the basket, but whatever. The football. And they're holier than thou fan base. Yes. Those are the three that I hope never score ever again in the history of the franchise. Yes. And a close fourth. Well, New York. Oh God. Zann? They did it. And the crew. We'll have it. We'll have it. And the crew, we'll have it in here tonight. Really a crushing end to what was a fabulous season for the Milwaukee Brewers. How fabulous. That one had some sting on it. Oh God. Oh God. Sad. Funeral. One more time from the use of your sausage studios. And happy at all. On that sausage taste yuke. Brewers baseball brought to you by Molson Kors, delicious going down, especially when you lose in a big spot against the Mets, Molson Kors. Backboard board a moment on the Brewers. Radio network. Sad. No shot at eight o'clock. And more of your phone calls, thumbs up, thumbs down, thumbs in the middle when it comes to Caleb Williams. Our last time to talk about the Bears as they get ready to take on Carolina right here on the home of the Bears. ESPN 1000. Yeah. It went well. Welcome back. Welcome. Welcome back to camping. Jay. Hood on Chicago's home for sports ESPN Chicago. And Jay Hood on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. We will have shot or no shot coming at eight o'clock. More on the Bears with Courtney Cronin at eight thirty five right here on Chicago's home for sports three one two three three two ESPN three three two three seven seven six is our telephone number Mike and Lagrange is with us as we give thumbs up, thumbs down, thumbs in the middle through the first four games for Caleb Williams. Mike good morning. Good morning guys. How are we doing? What's up Mikey Mike? How are we doing cap? We're doing awesome man. The Brewers are done. It's the weekend. Let's go. Let me tell you that I'm not a huge baseball fan by even I got to say that call was was something you guys got to use the end of that that clip for the end of your show when he says and the crew is done. You got to put that in somewhere at the end of the show. Jay Moore. There you go. Bob Euchar there Mike sad yeah, you know, but you know that that call was great. Anyways, I'm putting the Bears and I'm firmly in a camp where I'm optimistic. I'm trying to be patient, not trying to get down, not trying to get excited. Some of the stuff that Caleb's done has been amazing. You can see these flashes and it's great. My biggest fear and this started last year, I think hoodie is a little bit out of my team here is with the coaching long term, you know, falling into this this falling into this pattern where we have, you know, a talented potential quarterback and he's got to deal with, you know, a change in coaching or a change in system. I was worried that when we kept either fluth, we would have we would have one year and then we might have to get rid of them, which usually brings an entire new new offensive staff, which would pretty much mean that Caleb's year one is null and void and he'd have to kind of start over in year two. Of course, he'd be a little bit more used to NFL speed and the defenses, but it's kind of putting him behind an eight ball unless loose can really do something here. Well, here's the one thing I would say to you, if let's assume that the record isn't where we all want it to be. I could see a scenario where they upgrade the head coach, but they keep the OC if Caleb and he develop a chemistry over the 17 game. I think that that is fair because you're not firing everybody. Yeah, like last year, they fired out, cleaned out the offensive staff with the exception of Chris Morgan, the offensive line coach and his assistant because they like him. He's highly regarded in the league and his players like him. Now, do they need better players? Yeah, every coach would tell you, "I look good because I got better players." Sure, sure. Hey, you're in charge of the guards. Our guards suck. That doesn't mean I don't know how to coach guards. It means I better get out recruiting and get good players. That's right. But I could see a scenario where they decide who's the hot guy that's out there, whether that is Ben Johnson, whether that is Bobby Slowick, whether that is Mike Vrebel, whether there's somebody else that hits the streets, you're like, "Whoa." Like Andy Reid when he got fired in Philly. Andy Reid's available? I'm not saying him, but you know what I mean? Absolutely. That type of guy. That I could see happening. You don't get so loyal that you say, "Well, we've developed this with our guy." Well, if you could upgrade, this is just good business sense. It's not just sports cap. It's just good business sense. Mm-hmm. If you could find someone that can be able to accentuate your operation, to make it better, to make it profitable, or in this case, help you win a championship quicker? You go for that guy. You don't worry about the loyalty aspect. You worry about trying to get to the ultimate goal, and that's to win a Super Bowl championship. Hey, Jay-Z's on the line. Jago. Rocco Feli, y'all. And he's in Denver, listening on the ESPN Chicago app, Jay-Z, good morning. What's up there, Johnny? What's up, boys? From Mile High, I gotta tell you, you guys are on point today, and that Jay Moore, who's doing the sound bites, that guy's a star. He's doing the sound bites there. That guy's a star, Jay Moore. Jay Moore, yes. Jay-Z. Jago. Yeah, he deserves a raise, for sure, but anyway, before I get to Caleb, Cap, you gotta give me a favor. Yeah. No one asked the Moore family to chime in. That's enough. Cluck their mics. The whole Moore family. Yeah. He's eating the rain, baby. No one asked you. Step out of the way. Take that. I'm sorry. Go ahead, Jay-Z. You were saying. When the bears win Sunday, you have to bring out that fire blue blazer out of the closet again. Okay. You got it. What? Oh, yeah. You should. You mean the one with the pattern on it? Like the flowers? I don't know. It was blue with some stuff on there. I don't remember what. I don't remember what you had on it. I bought it for my brother's wedding. That would pop in a beautiful, sterling HD on ABC 7. There you go. Put it on. They win. I'll wear it on ABC 7, too Monday. It must be an echo in here. All right. But I'm going to wear it on the recap on Sunday afternoon. No shot. No. No. Save that for TV. Just for the TV. Okay. Damn right. You got it. Put it on there. Done. Coming and striding in. All right. Good morning. I bought my bears. Take that. Let's go. All right. You guys are the best. What do you got? Caleb, I give him a thumb sideways because nothing's changing. I said it a couple of weeks ago, he's still acclimating to the NFL. Does the offensive line and play calling need to get better? 100%. But if Caleb is worried that at the end of the year where he is now, then I'm giving him a thumbs down for sure. So that's where I'm at with Caleb. Jhood, I got one socks question before I go. Yes, sir. He said, I think a couple of weeks ago, that they're going to be worse next year. As bad. Yeah, as bad. Yeah. Are they going to eclipse the losing record next year? Oh, God. From this year. No, no shot. That's a no shot. No shot. Everything went against. There's no way, Jay Z, that that happens. No way. No, they won't be as bad. No. They'll be lose 102. Yeah. Three game shy of that. Out of no shot, that's in two minutes on Captain Jhood.
