That’s the Key!
You can get sidetracked in the story of Jonah, a man swallowed by a whale, three days inside that thing, the storm, mariners, the plant that grew and died, Jonah's bad attitude, but they're not the key details, they're side notes. The main point was stressed by Jesus in Matthew 1241. The men of Nineveh repented at the preaching of Jonah, that's the key. Jonah went to a prodigiously wicked city, proclaimed the judgment of God, and the vile Assyrians turned from their wicked ways. Hard hearts change. The Holy Spirit can get through dense matter. Jonah is a miracle story, and it's about the miracle of conversion, new birth. That miracle is available to you. If you're longing for something better, needing a new hard experience, God still works miracles. Having a good God, whose son Jesus died for you, had experienced a new start today.
