Today is National Frappe Day. Frappe Day was created in Greece in 1951 by accident. They didn't start getting popular until the late 1980s. Frappuccino is just a Frappe, it's just Starbucks name for it. Frappe Day is, if you don't know, they are ice blended coffee that comes in a whole lot of different variations served with whipped cream and syrup. Most popular are pumpkin spice, salted caramel mocha and chocolate mocha. Now no matter how you order it though, not healthy for you, there are a lot of fat calories in there, but I guess that's ok if you want to celebrate today. There are deals today, but not really any good ones, I mean everybody that sells Frappe is doing something like Starbucks, McDonalds, Dunkin' Donuts. So if that's your thing, enjoy a Frappe Day today. Alright, let's see what happened to entertainment in October the 7th, let's go back to 1997. Number 1 album was Butterfly by Mariah Carey, Boys and Men had the number 1 song with 4 seasons of loneliness. Diamond Rio had the number 1 country song with "How Your Love Makes Me Feel" It's my time to sound like much compared to all the pretty thank you, but it's how I explained it, since you brought it up, it won't sound like anybody else's version of love. The number 1 book was Floodtied by Clive Klessler. Top movie, let's kiss the girls, please hunting a serial killer, they finally get a break when a potential victim is able to escape, stars Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd and Carey Elweys. Alright, what happened in October the 7th, now we all know that Christopher Clevis never set foot on or even saw America, but according to his log books, it was today in 1492, he changed his original course, now he'd kept on that course, he would hit Florida. 1714, one of the biggest riots in the history of the Netherlands took place in the city of Alkmar, the people they were told the government was going to start taxing beer, yeah the city went back crap crazy. 1737, a cyclone hit Calcutta India, got 40 foot ways to come and short killed over 300,000 people. In college football in 1916, Georgia Tech, they were coached by John Heisman, yeah the guy the trophy he's named after, they beat Cumberland College 222 to nothing, that is the most lopsided score in football history. 1959, the Soviet Union Spacecraft Luna 3 took the first pictures of the backside of the moon, or the far side of the moon, I mean some people call it the dark side of the moon, but it gets just as much sunlight as the side that we see. Now the two sides of the moon, they are different though, in appearance wise anyway, that far side of the moon, it is just covered in craters of all different sizes, the whole thing, it doesn't look anything like the side that we see. This record still stands in 1965 in Omaha, Nebraska on the 10th hole at the Miracle Hills Golf Course, a 50 mile an hour wind gust to help Robert Mittira, he had a 447 yard hole in one, it's the longest straight hole in one ever, still standing. 1996 Fox News went on the air, in 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California served eight years, it was just last year that Hamas attacked the Israelis, yeah killed almost 1,200 people and took 251 hostages, it was Israel's equivalent to the United States as 9/11. Now they're still fighting, they're still like 100 hostages being held, but Israel they're getting pretty close, pretty much wiping out Hamas from the Gaza Strip. Well let's just check out who was born on October the 7th. I need a leva, that was the first hit song for John Mellencamp, he recorded in 1978 but back then he was going by John Cougar, see Mellencamp, he's 73 today, he was born to see more Indiana in 1915, he started out as John Cougar because his record company didn't like Mellencamp, but John liked it so when he got big enough he changed it to John Cougar Mellencamp, then 1991, just John Mellencamp, sold over 60 million records, Jack and Diane hurt so good, pink houses, rock in the USA, that's some of them. He has three times divorce, he had one child with his first wife, two from his second and two from his third. Any guesses? Yeah you're right that was pretty obvious, Yo-Yo Ma, he is an American cellist who was born in Paris, France, 1955 and born to Chinese parents, 69 years old today, now if you ever wondered what Yo-Yo Ma's Chinese name is, it's Ma-Yo-Yo, probably the most famous cellist of all time, he was a child prodigy, he was performing by the time he was four and a half years old, he was recorded 92 albums, 119 Grammy, his music, it kind of goes from traditional Chinese melodies to American bluegrass, then over to Argentina, Tango and everything in between, but of course he does the classic orchestra music too, he is currently on tour if you want to check it out, he's got dates always scheduled, they'll June, he's been married since 1978 and they have a son and a daughter. That was Michael W. Smith, he took that song "Place in This World" up to number six on the pop chart, Michael is a contemporary Christian singer born in 1957 and Canovo West Virginia, 67 years old. He's won 45 double warts, three Grammys and he's had 33 songs go to number one on the Christian chart, he's also written 14 books, now he kicks off his yearly Christmas tour, November 8th, he's doing it kicking it off up in Greeley, Colorado, it runs till December 24th, doing a whole bunch of shows at the end, they're in Nashville, Michael, they got married in 1981 and they have five children, Simon Cowley, 65, he was born in London, England in 1959, now he was a semi-successful record producer and talent scout, then he hit huge when he came up with the idea of TV talent shows, started off in Britain with the X-Factor and then Britain's Got Talent, then of course American Idol, now that Idol franchise, it's in countries all over the world, it goes from like Iraq Idol, the Croatia Idol, Pakistan Idol, India Idol, Vietnam Idol, Australia Idol, yeah you get the point all over the world. Simon and he's been with his fiance since 2013 and they have one son. Tony Braxton, she's born in 1967 in 7 Maryland, she's 57, sold over 70 million records, some of her biggest hits are, "You make me high, unbreak my heart, he wasn't man enough, breathe again." She had a reality TV show that ran from 2011 to 2020, it was called Braxton Family Values, she was married for 12 years when they divorced and they had two sons, now Tony, she does a lot of shows on Las Vegas, you can probably just find one, she'll be doing a residency out there some more. The lead singer for Radiohead is Tom York, he was born in Wellington in 1968, that makes him 56 years old today, he'll perform Radiohead in 1985, there's sold over 30 million records, some of their biggest hits here in the United States are, "Crape, high and dry, no surprises, nude." Now he releases a lot of solo albums on the side of him Radiohead, but it's nothing like Radiohead, his solo stuff, it's all electronic music, no instruments, he had to send in a daughter from his first wife, married his second wife in 2020, all right let's see what kind of weird factoid we can give you today that'll make you maybe possibly win a beer in a bet. Do you know that you do not have to be a lawyer to be in the United States Supreme Court Justice? No, you just have to get nominated and anybody can do it.
