I am Jeff and today is October the 6th. Today is National Plus-Sized Appreciation Day. Today, we celebrate the beauty of all women. Ladies, you don't have to starve yourself or live at the gym to be beautiful. Yeah, already are. Today, we want to remind you of that. Now, in the modeling world, a model is considered plus-size if she's a six or bigger. Yeah, we all know that's a bunch of BS. So, today, guys, no matter what size that special woman in your life is, let her know just how pretty and beautiful she is. All right, let's see what happened in entertainment in October 6th. Let's go back to 1956. Number one album was The King and I movie soundtrack. Elvis Presley had the number one song with a hound dog. Elvis had the number one country song too. It don't be cruel. The number one book was Don't Go Near the Water by William Brinkley. The top movie was The Best Things in Life Are Free. Three friends, they become a really successful writing team, but then one of them, his ambition causes trouble with the other two. Stars, Ernest Borgnine, Gordon McRae, and Dan Daley. 1927, the movie The Jazz Singer was released at theaters. It was the first talking motion picture. I think in two years, they're all going to be talking in silent movies. It would pretty much be a thing in the past. All right, what happened in October the 6th? 1866, brothers John and Simeon Reno made history. Jackson County, Indiana, making the first to rob a train while it was running. The other train robberies, they happened when the train was stopped at the depot. Not the Reno brothers, they wait until it was heading across Indiana. So 13 grand. Yeah, they'd be about 430,000 a day. Mom and Reno must have been really proud until they got caught anyway. 1893, Nabisco, named in the cereal Cream of Wheat. 1945, a bar owner named Billy Goat Sienna's. He bought a ticket for he and his goat to game four of the World Series in Chicago. Now when the Chicago Cubs official has escorted him and the goat out of the stadium, he casts a goat cursed on the Chicago Cubs. I hope the curse worked. Well, they lost that series, which they were favored to win. Then they didn't win the World Series again until 2016, 71 years later. Now I don't think this is what you really want to hear from your president. In 1961, with tensions running really high between the United States and the Soviet Union, President John Kennedy told Americans to start building fallout shelters to protect themselves from nuclear bombs. Talk about a buzz kill. In 1966, LSD was declared an illegal drug. 2010, two nerds launched Instagram. Another two really rich nerds. I do not understand this. In 2018, a new Cassantu in the Republic of Congo, 50 people were killed and over 100 people suffered serious burns when an oil tanker hit a car. Let's see who was born on October the 6th. Actress Janet Gaynor, she was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania in 1906. She won the very first Best Actress Oscar in 1928. Now they just awarded it to the Best Actress of that year. Now not for a movie. So Janet that year, she had starred in Seventh Heaven, Street Angels, and Sunrise of Song of Two Humans. They thought she did the best job acting that year, so they gave it to her. The next year is the Oscars switched over to just one movie. Yeah, all her movies were silent movers. She didn't have any trouble at all going from silent to talking. She stayed one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Then she retired in 1939 at 33 years old. Yeah, she wanted to go raise her son. She had married her second husband. She was a costume designer, and they married to hide the fact that he was gay. Then she got pregnant when he had a little boy. They stayed married for 20 years until he died from a stroke. She married her third husband in 1964, and they were together until she died in 1984 from a bunch of injuries she got in a car wreck. Yeah, she was 77. Actress Carol Lombard, she was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1908. Now as big as Janet was, yeah Carol, she was bigger. When she was 33 years old, she was the top actress in the world. And she was married to the top actor in the world, Clark Gable. And Carol, she was out touring promoting war bonds. You know, it helped the United States support in World War II. When she was done at the tour, she was flying back home. Yeah, her plane crashed, killed all 37 people on board. Lonning Johnson, old Lonnie. He's 75. He was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1949. 1968, Lonnie, he was representing his high school at the Alabama State Fair. He was only black student, and he won. He had made a robot that was powered by compressed air. Went on to be an aerospace engineer at NASA. Did some great work at NASA, but it wasn't challenging enough. So he quit. Then he went on to invent the super-soaker water gun and the Nerf gun. Yeah, which both used the principle of compressed air. Now that paid a lot more money than NASA ever would. He's actually in the inventor's hall of fame for it. He's married and they have four children. [MUSIC] Kevin Cronin, he still sings lead for REO Speedwagon. He's 73 today, born in Evanston, Illinois in 1951. Been with REO since 1975. They sold over 40 million records. Some of their hits take it on the run, keep on loving you. Time for me to fly. Can't fight this feeling right in the storm out. Now they're actually out on tour right now. They quit right before Christmas if you want to check them out. Kevin, he married in 1992 and they have four children. [MUSIC] No, that was not Richie Valenz. It was David Hildago. He is the lead singer for the band Los Lobos. He was born in Gila, Arizona in 1954. So that makes him 70 years old today. Now he helped form Los Lobos in 1973, means the wolves. They have tour dates all the way scheduled until next May. Now in mainstream, they're pretty much known best for that remake of Lebamba. But they're actually a lot bigger than that. They've released 18 albums, one 4 gram. He's been nominated for 12 of them. David, he has two sons. They're both drummers and bands of their own. Actress Elizabeth Schoo, she's born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1963. 61 year old Andrew Schoo. Yeah, that actor, that's her younger brother. Her first movie was a karate kid and then cocktail back to the future two and three. She was nominated for an Oscar for leaving Las Vegas on TV. She was on CSI for a few years. She's been married since 1994 and they have one son and two daughters. Actress Amy Jo Johnson, she's 54. She's born in Hyannis, Massachusetts in 1970. Best known for TV. She played Kimberly Hart in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers if she was the pink ranger. Later, she was on Felicity and then Flashpoint. Now, she still acts, but she's been his concentrates on directing. She married once for eight years and has a daughter from it. Now, she gets mistaken a lot for being actress Jennifer Garner. Now, she just kind of goes with it. If they ask, she just gives them Jennifer Garner's autograph even though she has no idea what Jennifer Garner's autograph looks like. Okay, let's make some of you real happy today. Hershey's chocolate syrup, rich crackers, dumb, dumb suckers, and Oreo cookies. They're all vegan. Thank you for listening today. Let's end with the greatest guitarist of all time, Eddie Van Halen. Eddie died today in 2020 at 65 years old.
