Tyree Kill, deftly yelling at no one, seemingly yelling at West Welker. Yelling close enough to coach Mike McDaniel to get his point across. And he avoided the media after the game, so he wasn't asked what were you yelling about. Two days later, Tyree Kill basically tells us that our lying eyes might have deceived us on Monday night. Here he is from what he was getting at when he was doing what you're seeing on the screen. I'm in a good spot in my life, man. I wouldn't refer to it as shouting. I was just, that's just me just motivating my teammates. I was simply telling 2-5 that we need more of that. Because he had a great run there towards the end of the game. And I was like, I need more of that. I need more of that 2-5. Number nine, I need more of that. I need more of that 1-8. So that didn't mean, man, like just motivating my teammates. You know what I'm saying? Like there's no ill will, like me personally, my teammates know me. I never break down and I never call nobody out in that moment. If I got a problem with somebody, I'll put them to the side and I'll tell you what's going on. That's the man that my parents raised me. But I was simply just saying 2-5, I need more of that. Because dude was balling, and he was the spark for the offense, so. You said this is our spirit that you've been on a football field in quite some time? Oh, it was a frustration. That was just me just motivating my teammate. They're saying I need more of that. You feel me? See, when you don't talk to reporters after the game, you got a couple of days to come up with a good story to explain what you were doing. If we can roll the tape again, I don't see 2-5. I don't see teammates. I see coaches. I see Wes Welker. I see Mike McDaniel. Do you see 2-5? Do you see any other players? I see Odell Beckham Jr. in the background thinking, "Thank God that ain't me. I've been there before and done that." Right? But where's 2-5? The first thing I thought when I saw this clip, and I saw Wes Welker's face, I'm like, "They must not know. Wes has been on sidelines and seen shouting matches. He's seen Billio Bryan at time." He is not paying attention to Tyreek Hill at all, and to me, that was the glaring thing. You have one of your best players, whatever he is saying, he can tell me whatever. No one is giving him the time of day, which, again, we're all assuming. I could be totally off, but it gives the feeling of, "This guy does that. Whether it's in practice, whether it's in games, he goes on whatever he ran or whatever he's saying, and they're just not interested. They're not interested in hearing it. When your best players are speaking, you usually see guys right away in their life, heads are turning or listening. What is he saying if you're sitting like Mike McDaniel is like, "Whatever's going on behind me, I'm going to ignore it." You only got one ear covered. He heard that. He didn't turn around. Wes Welker legit slid so he can keep his eye on the game. No Odell Beckham's straight face, no one was listening to whatever was going on over there. I thought it was glaring for Miami that everything's not, as Poppy was saying, trolls, everything's not cupcakes and rainbows over there. It's one of the most positive places we've seen in NFL since Mike McDaniel has gotten there, especially after Brian Flores. That was always a talk. It's not happy here. It's not good. He's too down. All of those things, and it's been very upbeat, and it is also proof of just the importance of the quarterback and having a play on that quarterback. Tyree Hill said there's no way he's not frustrated as he was saying that, and we're watching the clip. It's 22 to 6. They're getting handed. One of the things we've never really talked about with this Dolphins offense is a struggle to score some points, and now it's a struggle to get the ball moving, to get some points on the board. There's definitely frustrations. I was just sitting there, and again, this is coming off, talking about Davante Adams. We're now sitting here, removed. Tyree Hill's made a ton of money. They've had successes. Numbers are awesome, but now the outlook again for this team is, for one, it was before coming into the season was well done. They still won't win in the playoffs. Now we come over like, "They're probably not going to make the playoffs." For this Miami Dolphins team, it's just like, "Man, all of these moves seem so good moving in the right direction," and ultimately, they might walk away from the Tyree Hill experience and say, "We didn't really do anything that was life-changer for this organization. It just hasn't worked out, and I'm not blaming this on Tyree Hill at all. There's no way he could predict that, too, it would be going through what he's going through right now and not having him on the field." Mike McDaniel thought did an awesome job coming in and building two up, and what they were able to do. I've said this for years. Whatever people want to think about two as a quarterback, when I was in New England and we played against the Miami Dolphins, when Tua didn't play, we won. I never beat Tua his whole time in Miami. When Tua was in there running the offense, even before Mike McDaniel, the offense is that they built that were made for Tua, he was able to have, whether you want to say just enough success or success. He was able to go win some football games, especially against us in New England. I think it's even more important now, and this Mike McDaniel offense because it's built around to and his ability to come out of fakes and quickly throw the ball, his release. All of those things are off of Tua, and Teddy Bridgewater was a good backup quarterback. He's had some success in the NFL. He went there. I played against Teddy Bridgewater at that offense. It just was not the same, and we've seen now again, when Tua was not in there, this offense really struggles to be able to operate at, I won't even say a high level at, really, an NFL level to do anything other than go out there and punt the ball. So, I do, I think this is just the beginning of the frustration for Tyreke Hill, for anybody else. If Odell Beckham comes back, like all those yards on offense, I think this is the beginning of struggles. And I think even now, watching Jalen Phillips go down last week, it's going to be struggles across the board for this whole team. Our former or current colleague, former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was on the program yesterday, and he's not one for hot takes or hyperbole. He called the backup quarterback situation in Miami, shocking, and really, of all teams, of all teams that needed a veteran backup who could come in and run the offense in the absence of Tua Tonkovailo, the Dolphins would be at the top of the list. That's part of the problem that contributes to the frustration and the point you made. It's 22-6, like you're motivating Devin Achan at 22-6. There isn't a 16-point play in the playbook. The game's over. This is frustration because I'm not getting the ball in my hands. I'm not being trusted to be the one to make the difference. I'm the best player on the team, and we can stipulate he is the best player on the team. He is the guy you got to get the ball to, and it's understandable why he'd be frustrated. So with the team that traded him in 2022 and has won every Super Bowl played since they traded him, the Kansas City Chiefs needing a number one receiver, there's been some speculation. There's been some dot connecting. Why not trade Tyree Kill back to the Chiefs? That question came up yesterday. The question of whether or not he'd be willing to go back to a team he used to play for. Here he is on that speculation. You know what, man? I'm just focused on right here and right now. We've got a beautiful team here, and I want to be a part of it. We've got a great situation here. My family loves it. I enjoy the weather's great, the fans are great. So we've got a beautiful situation here, man. Obviously my parents always taught me control the controllables, and I only keep control so much. So with that being said, we all know the NFL is a business, whatever happens, happens. You know what I'm saying? So moving forward, I would love to be here. I love being here. You know, I love the guys. I love my locker mates, Yvonne Holland. He's a maniac. He's the guy. You know what I'm saying? He brings me nice snacks sometimes. You know, so... Look, there's just enough in what he said and how he said it to crack the door open, and then he can say somebody else made the decision, not me. And I think this is important because throughout the off season, from the end of last year, and he would have had 2,000 receiving yards, but for the ankle injury, he suffered late in the regular season. He'd been trying to get more money and trying to get more money, but also determined not to become that guy, that guy that is so much of a pain in the ass that the team throws its hands up in exasperation and trades the player. The Chiefs already did that once, and I think Tyree Kill understands, I don't want to be perceived the way Stefan Diggs is now perceived, because I think you get traded once, okay, it didn't work. You get traded twice, it's you. And that's why I think he chooses his words very carefully. That's why I think he's willing to tell us we didn't see frustration on Monday night, even though we did. He doesn't want the dolphins to get to the point where they throw their hands in the air and say we can't live with this guy. Some talent, pain in the ass, we're going to dump him on to anybody we can dump him on to. And I think he's determined, determined to craft that reality, that narrative, whether it's real or not, is a different issue. But I think that's why he said what he said publicly. What he thinks privately, we don't know. But I think he's very concerned, Devin, about this notion that he'll be perceived as the villain if the dolphins would decide to trade him, and I don't think they will. Number one, they're not going to get back for him what they gave up to get him. And number two, there'd be a $41.8 million debt cap charge next year that they'd take because they did finally pay him more money in August. Yeah, for them, there's just no reason to trade them. But Tyree Hill, I think has done a really good job of coming in this league, maturing and understanding. And like you just said, the business of the NFL, his answers were exactly what any player should do and say in that situation. Because ultimately, as much as people want to say, like, no, you can control, he can't decide to trade himself. But hey, he probably does love Miami. I don't think he told a lie about that. He's from Florida originally. Loves being down there. Family loves it. But I think also in the back of his mind, like, go play a passion in my homes again. Teams won the last two championships like, yeah, I wouldn't mind going there, and I think that's true. To me, that's OK as a player, like, hey, why would he mind going back there instead of staying on the team that has no quarterback right now that can get him the ball? He could go back there, get right into play. So again, I think he answered it perfectly. I think there's more issues for Miami on the horizon than anything else. Because when you have him jail and wattle, these guys, they have new contracts. They've earned those contracts. And now, all of the conversations will be, well, Justin Jefferson, he played with four different quarterbacks last year, he still has some success. He still had big games. Why can't we do that? Hey, Garrett Wilson, he was on the Jets with Zach Wilson and Boyle and all these different quarterbacks. He still got to his number, so if they can't be productive on offense, that's going to start to be, hey, we're paying these two guys all this money, why can't we find ways to get them the ball? They're not getting open. Can we not change the like those conversations will start to happen. And I think that's what you'll struggle with. That's why football is so much harder than just the X's and O's part of it, because you have players who do, they want to be the best. And that's what makes a lot of these players great. They have a drive and a will to be the best. And when you watch Tyreek Hill and you watch, especially how he came into the league, we used to say if he was running a deep ball, if you stay close to him, he was going to struggle a little bit to track the ball and to bring it in, to make contested catches. You look at him now, that's not an issue at all. It runs by people all the time. He looks over one shoulder, the ball's not coming, he flips his head over the other shoulder and catches it like all of these really complicated and tough catches he can do now. He doesn't want to go backwards. He wants to keep getting better. He wants to get to that 2,000 yards. And now as a player, you look up and you're like, I got no shot, weekend and week out. I have no idea. I'm going to have the ability to change the game, to be productive. That's frustrating as a player. And he has a ton of frustration right now. There's no doubt about it. But I have to give him credit for handling this situation after the game and doing and saying all the right things. Now the hard thing is next week, the week after, to continue to do that and not have another one of those moments, that's the hard thing of what they're going to try to do. So, like we said earlier, winning is fun. As much fun as they were having in Miami, doesn't look that much fun now that you're losing games because again, you do all of this work you want to win. I don't care what anybody says and when you start losing, that's when we see, are you really having fun? We need to take a break. But as you were explaining this urgency that's arising in Miami, I was reminded of something that came up on Tuesday and this is just a real quick little snippet. This is all putting more pressure on the team to get to a back on the field. It's putting more pressure on to it to get back on the field and we're already seeing the reports, symptom free, good to go, eligible to come back week eight against the Cardinals. And I hope there's a grown up in the room somewhere that says, hang on, hang on. Are we sure that these are the right circumstances to put to a back on to the field where the sky is falling, the walls are closing in and somebody's got to wave a magic wand and we're counting on the guy who just had a concussion who needs to do everything he can to avoid another when not throw caution to the wind. I just feel like these things are all coming together in a troubling way because they all are saying and believing we need to have to a back. That's why I kind of hope that he wouldn't play again this year and make a decision detached from the urgency of turning around a season that may be lost. All right, this show is going to be lost. We don't take a break. When we return, Bengals, Ravens, get together this weekend. What does Joe Burrow need to do to avoid falling to one and four? We'll discuss that and more with a week to five grab bag next time. When you learn from playing ball to ball, you say you'll learn how to play teams, but it's specifically what you learn about a ball. You've got to be aggressive out of the gate. You can't let the game come to you because your possessions are going to be so limited. I'm going to have to play a damn near perfect. That's how I'm preparing, so it's an exciting opportunity. It's a big game. It's a big game. We know what our record is. You know, we know the opportunities we have going forward, but it's our first division opponent for one and three when you get this one, and it's a big game for the Bengals. Bengals one and three, Ravens two and two, huge game. Ravens are favored by two and a half points at Cincinnati, and as Burrow said, he needs to be damn near perfect, and I don't know whether that's enough. He looked pretty good against the commanders a week and a half ago. If the defense isn't going to hold up, it's end of the bargain. That's the problem. The Bengals can pull off the upset if they what, Devin? Joe Burrow has to throw for over 300 yards, three touchdowns, because you just said it. I don't know if they can stop this Baltimore offense, so if they can't stop this Baltimore offense, he has to go and have one of those games that is old school Joe Burrow throwing the ball all around. T Higgins needs to have a big game. Mark Chasing has to have a big game, it just has to be one of those games where they score a lot of touchdowns, but also maybe Burrow runs for another touchdown, or Zach Moss scores, two touchdowns. They're going to need to really outscore his Baltimore outfit, and this is the problem sometimes with starting slow in a season. Of now, you're going to play a Baltimore Ravens team who also didn't start the season exactly how they wanted to, but now over the last two weeks, they look like they found their stride and know exactly how they want to play. And now for Cincinnati, you're coming in a must win against a team who's figured itself out while also winning football games, so now is a ton of pressure on you. And I'm going to flip it around. I think the Bengals only pull this upset if they can contain Derek Henry. He has been spectacular the past couple of weeks, 151 yards a week, 390 plus, or there abouts. I think 199. He's right up on 200, week four, he's closing in on 10,000 for his career and 100 touchdowns. They got to control him. He's, you know, surprisingly low on the MVP odds. He's been great so far. They need to contain him if they're going to have any chance to win this game, and they need this one badly. What a difference between one and four, three and two, or both teams at two and three. That's why I love these divisional games. It's a huge swing, and it's, even though it's week five, the outcome is something that will resonate into January. Yeah. And you talk about having to stop Derek. I just don't know how they haven't played well up front defensively when it comes to stopping to run and they have injuries. So now you've already struggled in that department. And now we believe that you're going to go play against Lamar Jackson and Derek Henry. And I think, I think it's going to be a tall task to ask that defense to come out there and get stops, you know, series after series and put your hand in the ground and stopping Derek Henry, especially as a game continues to go on. So as much as it pains me to say this as a defensive guy, I think their best defense is going to be burrowing that offense scoring a lot of points. All right, Vikings and Jets play Sunday morning. The weekend is wrapped up with chiefs at Saints on Monday night. The Vikings and the chiefs are both four and O, who's most likely to get their first loss this weekend? The Vikings who are favored by two and a half on a neutral site or the chiefs who are five and a half point favorites in the Superdome. I think it's, it pains me to say, but I think it's the chiefs. I think they have a, it's more likely they lose to the Saints and it speaks more about who these teams are playing against themselves because I think the chiefs have gone through a lot losing Rashi Rice last week. I think they're the team that can figure this out. I think the first week post Rashi Rice being injured, I think it will be the hardest week that they'll have to figure out and get things going. I think they're going to get the game plan where just take Kelsey out, hold up across the board, keep a safety deep to make sure Xavier worthy can't hurt you. I think they'll get somewhat of that game plan, pack the middle, don't let Travis Kelsey have a ton of catches, and I think the Saints have, you know, what they can do on offense and score some points and hopefully challenge this chief's defense, but again, I think the chiefs will count on that defense not to do it. On the other side of Minnesota, we don't know what jets team we're going to get. You said it earlier. We have no idea what we're going to see from the jets, and I think we know, we know we're going to see from Minnesota. We're going to see a team that's prepared to have a lot of different looks on defense. The key for Minnesota will be, can they impact Aaron Rodgers? He's really sliced up teams that have played zone and teams that have played man, they've struggled with, but Minnesota as exotic as they are, it ultimately falls back into mostly zone defense. So can Aaron Rodgers figure that out and have enough time to get the ball where it needs to go consistently to me will be the test, and I don't know, I don't know if they're ready to do that in London, you know, Sunday morning. Yeah, I mean, when you look at the factors, the easier pick is the chiefs more likely to lose because, like you said, we don't know what jets team is going to show up. And we know what's going to happen in New Orleans. It's going to be loud. It's going to be rockers. It's the team that it started two and oh, lost two in a row, could have won both of those games and now are at a crossroads, early season crossroads. You don't want to fall under 500, the way that you got started. And this is an opportunity to reassert yourself as a true contender. Not only are we three and two, we beat the chiefs. We put the first L on the chiefs and this is the time to get them the first game without Rauchy Rice. They didn't do anything this week to replace him. So it's next man up. And I think the Saints defensively with the game plan that Dennis Allen will put together, Derek Carr has gone toe to toe with Patrick Mahomes in the past and he hasn't been, well, he's, I don't know, he may have gotten one win, but that's better than none. I mean, the chiefs did have their way with that division when Carr was there, but I remember that game where they drove the buses around Arrowhead Stadium after John Gruden, Derek Carr pulled off the victory over the chiefs. So I think you're right. The chiefs are the more likely to lose. Maybe they both lose this weekend. Are you excited? Don't, don't, don't, maybe they both lose Minnesota rock. I don't. Don't do it. Florial. Stay positive. Your team is undefeated. Be happy. Be a joyful fan. Hey, uh, the Vikings were five and O in 2016 and they didn't make the playoffs. So I don't know a way to go before I rekindle. And here's what happens. Here's what happens on those rare occasions where the Vikings have a season where they progress deep into the playoffs. It like causes like years of memories to come rushing back to me growing up with my parents and when the Vikings were actually good every year and my son and I were talking the other night, Hey, if they make it to the conference championship, you know, NBC, we're done. I can go. We can go. And my son's like, do we really want to go? Do we, do we really want to experience that? Six conference, six, I, I've told him, man, you made this choice yourself. They've lost six conference championships in a row since their last Super Bowl appearance. All right. Cowboy Steelers, take your pick. Who will the Cowboys defense miss more Michael Parsons or the Marcus Lawrence? I think, I think we, I think we know the answer to this one. Yeah. I'm, I'm going, I'm going to Michael Parsons strictly because of his versatility and what he can do on the football field, but it's hard because both those guys kind of like one A, one B for that defense and what they've been able to do. Yeah. Yeah. I agree with you as well. They need both guys back, but they definitely need Michael Parsons. I was alarmed here earlier this week. He's got no weight on that foot at all. He's using the scooter that they use when you've got a blown Achilles that that's concerning that he's not going to be back anytime soon. All right. We'll be back very soon. When we return, we're going to preview tonight's game between the Atlanta Falcons and my Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That's next year on Vietnam. You know, we all find ourselves in situations where we can feel a little bit nervous sometimes from me standing in a studio. The lights get a little hot. The anxiety runs a little high as I wonder whether or not the words are going to come out of my mouth the way that they are supposed to. When you get in a situation like that, you worry about sweating. Here's one way to take that worry off the table. I mean you try and treat any game the same but I mean you know the weight that it carries when you play divisional opponents and just the opportunity on a short week playing against somebody on the road. It's a great opportunity for us to continue to build what we've had so far but I think back at last year, every year is different but I think back at last year we were three and one at this point too. Now I wouldn't say that we operated this claim and we knew our identity but right now don't take anything for granted just because you start throwing one like you said it's a long year. You've got to continue to improve and just build as the year goes on. Baker Mayfield getting ready to face the Falcons tonight in Atlanta it's the fourth home game already for the Atlanta Falcons a weird little scheduling park three in a row a Sunday a Sunday and a Thursday that's a lot of times to get your stuff together and get out to the ballpark but the hot dogs are cheap. They were free for the night they put Arthur Blank in the Arthur Blank Ring of Honor. They're not free tonight when Matt Ryan gets into the Ring of Honor but regardless the Falcons are favored in this one by one and a half and I'm not really shocked even though the Falcons are two and two. They could be four. No they haven't been perfect but they had a tough Steelers team right out of the gates and they could have beaten the Chiefs. The Falcons are better than two and two would suggest the question is how good are the bucks and the bucks good enough to go in there and get this done. Who do you trust more at quarterback right now Kirk Cousins or Baker Mayfield? I would say Baker Mayfield simply on a fact of this is year two of him being there being there with that that offense and I know Canales left but having those guys and understanding you know whether it's Rashad White whether it's Mike Evans Godwin like this unit this group of players have now played together for it's going on two years. So to me I trust that more than what Kurt and Atlanta is doing. They're still building like their final product hasn't been seen yet. We've seen what Tampa looks like when they're a full throttle and they're playing the right way we saw that you know last week when they went up when they went and you know early destroyed Philly and you know we were there last year in the playoff game where they went toe to toe with Detroit and then you know went on to beat Detroit this year so I like what Tampa does and I think what Baker Mayfield brings to that team his confidence his little his edge and passion that he has in the game that you can tell they feed off of that and you know we talked about it earlier in the show to say like you were brought to a team because you were going to bring fun and to know that you were replacing Tom Brady like there's a there's a certain level of confidence to even think about saying that that I think those guys really relish on offense of playing with him of how he's going to approach the game. So yeah right now for me it would definitely be Baker Mayfield Falcons beat the Saints on Sunday felt like the Falcons were outplayed a couple of flooky things happened that allowed them to win. They barely beat the Eagles in that Monday night early season classic week two. The Buccaneers mopped up the floor with the Philadelphia Eagles. I really do think the Buccaneers are the better team right now and the fact that their underdogs plays right into their hands they love that they look for any actual or perceived sign of disrespect even though it's a slim to slim one. You can still I think allow the Buccaneers to get a little kick in the pants from the perception that the Falcons are better. What do you think this ultimately comes down to? I'm interested to see I think Atlanta has some injuries on the front offensive line. So you know when you play against Todd Bowles in the Tampa Bay defense you're going to get different exotic pressures. They're going to blitz. They're going to send five guys, six guys, and it's going to be can they hold up. There's no Antoine Winfield Jr. So the different things that they've had to do as a defense we saw they can still be very good on defense and you know big shot of Lebotte Davis still playing at a high level. So I want to see how Atlanta handles that with their front and then the other part of it. I want to see Atlanta's defense. Their secondary has played really well this year led by AJ Terrell and you're playing against Baker Mayfield with Mike Evans who seems like he just keeps getting better and God went and then Rashad White and Bucky Irvents and you have all of these different weapons and Kay Otton has really turned into a good time in for them. So I want to see the passing game of Tampa versus Atlanta secondary then again the offensive line in Atlanta how you handle the blitz pickup and all of those different things that are going to come at you all game. And I think one of the ways Atlanta might try to handle that is turn around handing the ball to Algea and Bijan Robinson so it's going to be a fun game because like we just spoke about the last segment of these divisional games with these teams so much is at stake every time they play against each other. So I definitely want to see how this goes down. You mentioned Antoine Winfield Jr. he got injured in week one and the only good news for the Buccaneers is the release of his injury. He did practice on Wednesday on a limited basis and that's the first time he's been on the practice field since suffering that injury. They need him back. They keep racking up these ones without him. That's good. They'll be even better when they get him back than Ecologic can see back out there as well. They got Vida Vida back this past weekend. I just think this feels like a game where the Buccaneers can go in and take care of business. I like the Buccaneers especially since they're getting a point and a half I think Tampa wins straight up and gets to four and one and the Falcons you know that that boost they got from beating the Eagles 2 and 3 that boost is gone. They're going to have to start winning some games that they lose this one tonight. Yeah I agree with you I think I like Tampa as well. For the fact of I think you hit it Atlanta could have won some of those games you look at Pittsburgh but you also said they could have lost some of these games that they won and I think that's that's the key of Atlanta still trying to find themselves in. You never know when it happens like this could be the night you know that they they hit their stride and they play good ball but I think it's tough when you're still trying to find yourself now you come into a short week against a team who is like they're kind of rolling right now they they fed off the momentum of last year and I've always loved that about teams of yes you can't take last year into this year but you can start the new year saying we're not going backwards like we left at a certain point we need to pick up so we expect you guys to come in to know what you're doing we're going to start ahead of where we started last year and we're going to just start rolling and it feels like Tampa had that approach this off season and you can see it paying off early in the season so far. And if the Falcons lose look they have a winnable game at Carolina next week but then they have the Seahawks coming to town they go to Tampa Bay they play the Bucks twice in a month and then week nine. My good friend Mike Zimmer in the Cowboys defense comes to Atlanta and Zimmer and Cousins maybe there'll be some pushing and shoving like we saw several years ago between Zimmer and Cousins so it's not going to be an easy road for the Falcons and a lot of people like them as the division favorites by adding Kirk Cousins this is not an easy division and the Buccaneers have been overlooked and disregarded the Buccaneers are a very good team notwithstanding the fact that they somehow stepped in a pothole against the Broncos in week three okay let's take a break when we return the Jaguars have stepped in pothole after pothole did Doug Peterson put his foot in his mouth on Sunday to the extent that he has lost the locker room that's next on pft locker room and I would know I talk to these guys every day I see them every day and and no I have not lost the locker room I think these guys have done everything I've asked they continue to play and practice hard and battle and and you know it's a good group the right leaders in there and they know they know what we need to do and you know they're not making excuses for it and I'm not going to make excuses and we just have to do it. The way that phrase came out lost the locker room reminds me that Chris Sims will from time to time say I lost my spleen and he says it in a way that makes me say well did you misplace it did you find it like where is the locker room I've lost it I can't find it and I don't I don't I mean first of all I don't know that Doug Peterson's ever going to admit it like what coach would ever say yeah you know what I don't know why I'm here I don't know why they haven't fired me I've completely lost the locker room the comment that he made on Sunday was so jarring when he's asked about whether or not he's going to take play calling duties from offensive coordinator press Taylor and he says hey at some point you know we don't execute the plays we don't run the plays we just call the plays and that was and then he pivoted back he realized what he was saying so he said blame it all on me but it's just it's not going well and I know Sims thinks he was talking about his quarterback the guy that's making fifty five million a year and the guy that maybe isn't earning that contract there there's just dysfunction in Jacksonville right now and whether he's lost the locker room or not they've lost nine out of ten games dating back to last year he's eighteen and twenty in three plus seasons with the team and the owner wrote a big ass check before the season this is the best Jaguars team ever assembled just a matter of time before Doug Peterson isn't the head coach unless they turn it around and keep it turned around right now and what Sim said is the issue of what Doug Peterson like soon as you say something like that Sim says hey I think it's Trevor Lawrence somebody else is saying hey I think it's this I think it's that you you can't say that and coach Garrett said it's Sunday as much as even now us in the media or fans as much as we hate coaches talk of saying you know the cliche thing and not really answering the question this is another reason why especially after games you're emotional you're in the middle of a game they had a chance to win Sunday against Houston made a good amount of plays to go out there and win that football game and you fall short and you answer questions and you sometimes answer right away on how you feel and I'm sure even before he kind of even you know goes back in and listens to his to to to the transcript when he went and watched the film I'm sure there's things as a coach you're wishing you would have done differently I'm sure there's going to be different plays that you felt players could have done to like that's just the way the NFL goes that's the flow ebbs and flows of a game so you have to always to me have some kind of response that you know are going to be your go-to and the questions that you're going to get asked you know you lost a tough game you know questions about your job are going to start to come out and different thing like you got to have a plan answer what you're going to go with reevaluate it get your thoughts together come back Monday when you do your interview you do your next presser you have a better handle because when you say things like this as a player right away you think as soon as you hear that you think of all the coaching mistakes you've had all the coaching mistakes in the game jump to your mind right away even though you might have made some mistakes as players desert doing now you create an atmosphere that is brutal and I will say did he lose a locker room when coaches lose a locker room they don't know they lost a locker room how they know they don't know if they lost a locker room or not so that's your idea so of course he thinks he still has a locker room they don't know when they lose it yeah nobody's going to come up to you and say hey coach you've lost the locker room nobody's going to say that but I will say this I will say this he didn't say after the loss to the Texans that it was because of the cadence at least he didn't do that but still what he did what he what he did was problematic enough and I look at their upcoming schedule okay I don't want to call the game against the Colts winnable the Colts are two and two yeah it's it's winnable only in the sense that it's a division game and division games tend to be hard fought even if one team stinks as the Jaguars do it's not winnable but they could win it that's the better way to put it and then they go to London for two games back to back bears Patriots in London then look at the next four before the buy holy cow Packers Eagles Vikings Lions I think if they lose the next three Peterson's out before the Packers game I think if they get blown out on Sunday blown out embarrassed like they did against the Bills and I'm not saying they will I'm just saying if that should happen if it's just debacle I think there's a chance Mike McCoy's the head coach of the team on an interim basis when they make their trip to London I feel like it's at that point when the only because the owner said what he said at the end of August is the best Jacksonville Jaguars team ever assembled now maybe he doesn't believe in he's just trying to get people to buy tickets which would make him Jerry Jones but I I think he believes it and he's the one he's he's wrong we've had this conversation he's wrong but it doesn't matter because he's the one that calls the shots and decides whether or not the coach gets fired so they get embarrassed this weekend I think Peterson doesn't make it to London they lose the next three I don't think Peterson makes it home from London but honestly they got to win two of the next three like you look and it's the Colts the Bears and the Patriots if I'm an owner and again no disrespect any owner but I'm going to go out on the ledge and say they don't know much about football and how the game is played but they fully understand watching other teams and seeing what they're going through and what's happening you looking you're like well we you know we definitely should be these teams right Joe Flacco's out there and I know Joe Flacco has been good and we'll see how Anthony Richardson is going to do but for most people probably think we're going to get flack on Sunday so now you get a backup quarterback an older quarterback versus your fifty five million dollar quarterback then we go to the Bears we have a rookie quarterback then we go to New England and you have Jacobi Brissen and people are teeing off on him so you got to feel like hey let's get the Colts game and then we're basically going home because we're going to London we play the other most we should have the advantage over the other two teams coming to London and especially that next week we're staying even though statistics show that stand doesn't always equal wins but you're going to play against a Patriots team who's still figuring things out they should definitely feel good about that so I agree with you this is one if one of these games get really ugly or they lose two of these games especially they start off owing to I think that could be really bad for Peterson. Yeah and it's funny you said that owners really don't know football or how the game is played it's one of the things I love so much about covering the NFL you've got these multi-billion dollar football organizations that are run by basically mom and pop operations and the only qualification is do I have enough money to buy a team or did I inherit the team from a family member right that's it there's no test you have to pass to be an owner you'd also know anything about football to be an owner and you've got all these people that are working for you that know it and you're the one making the decision on when change is going to be made but we all kind of know when change is coming and it feels like change is coming in Jacksonville let's take a break when we return the best match ups that we're keeping an eye on as week five arrives that's the PFT live draft we'll do it next to you. How do you just manage staying focused while hearing all of that around your name and the popularity? Yeah I mean thank God to be able to be in that position be able to impact people's lives and stuff like that but man the main thing is keeping the main thing the main thing man that's football how can I get better each and every week not get caught up in what people are saying or anything because none of that really matters because I could be playing good and playing bad and people would be thinking the opposite so at state level headed God there just focus on what's up what's up what's now and deal with my feet on. The main thing is keeping the main thing the main thing that's even better for a t-shirt than the thing I said earlier that I don't even remember what it is now I should have written it down I said something that you said we should go on a t-shirt and seriously I have no idea. It was the helicopter the world is your helicopter pad all right I'll forget it in five minutes especially because I'm focused on our match up draft week five give me the match up you looking for any team you want any group you want anything that you're keeping an eye on this weekend. Let's start let's start in London Aaron Rogers verse Brian Flores defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings what are we going to get is Aaron Rogers is going to figure out this Flores defense is given everybody troubles but he's Aaron Rogers so I can't wait to see it we played him in 2018 when Flores was our defensive coordinator and we created some magic and it was couple times where he smiled at us because he knew it was coming and he beat my sorry brother on like a 50 yard bomb so it really was all J max fault but we won't get too deep into that I'm going to start with the guy that we just saw the flavor of the moment in the NFL Jaden Daniels Jaden Daniels versus Deshawn Watson on Sunday and who would have dreamed a year ago that we'd be looking at this game saying wow the commanders are clearly better than the Browns and I focus on Watson and Daniels because Daniels is what Deshawn Watson was just seven years ago Deshawn Watson came in and what he didn't start right away once he started playing took the league by storm halfway through the season he was an MVP candidate not rookie of the year he was an MVP candidate he had a spectacular game in Seattle Richard Sherman came to him after the game and said you play this better than any quarterback ever has including Tom Brady tore his ACL non-contact in practice that week Watson told us at the Super Bowl that he believed that the ACL went on a hit that he took in the Seattle game and it just finally disconnected and the knee collapsed at practice but but that's what Jaden Daniels is now Watson what and look at seven in the grand scheme of things seven years is nothing and look at how fortunes can change so when Watson's out there and I don't know how it affects him whether it gets him to rewind the clock today's gone by or whether he just submits to the fact that his time is over he looks across the sideline and he sees Jaden Daniels and he's looking and he's saying that's me and that wasn't that long ago and am I ever going to get back to that and most people are coming to the conclusion that he won't yeah that's that I don't know if that's a good feeling or not so but I love the comparison because I had to play against the show Watson and that was not fun when he was a young guy my my next matchup would be why wouldn't we step on digs and Josh Allen we finally get to see this marriage go wrong and you know you both got the new girlfriend both in love it's going great and now you meet up and you see each other and everybody's gonna walk away but we're all going to look at this game and we're going to say who had a better game who had a bigger impact so as much as I'm sure both guys are talking about it's the Texans versus the Bills we all want to see can Josh Allen be successful against digs team without digs and can digs go in and really get after that whole Bills defense with CJ Strauss I'm looking forward to that one before the season Mike Zimmer who had been the head coach of the Vikings and had success every other year playoffs one year no playoffs the next one to an NFC championship game he downloaded a bunch of grievances to mark Craig in the Minneapolis star Tribune as Zimmer was getting ready to return to the NFL as defense coordinator the Cowboys and I'm going somewhere with this trust me he didn't say a word about Kirk cousins and I know I know how he feels about Kirk cousins didn't say a word and I think the reason he didn't say a word about Kirk cousins even though he fired shots at plenty of other people he faces Kirk cousins week nine so smart smart we talked about that earlier pushing and shoving and all that stuff he's not gonna give cousins anything extra however however in firing shots at Rick Spielman because Spielman drafted Kellen Monde in the third round in 2021 and Zimmer walked out of the room because he was pissed off because he took a quarterback he pointed out that Spielman wanted to take Justin Fields in 2021 and Fields hasn't done anything and I say that because Fields gets a chance on Sunday night to do everything to Zimmer's defense without Demarcus Lawrence without Michael Parsons and I guarantee you if guys are gonna make shit up sorry London to get themselves motivated I suspect Mike Zimmer or someone with the Steelers has pointed out to Justin Fields going into this game on Sunday night here's what Mike Zimmer said about you you haven't done anything just so you know so Zimmer versus Fields a number one all the more reason to tune in I hope I see I'm gonna get my check this week Devin all the more reason to tune in to NBC on Sunday night I like it I like it doesn't know how to sell a game yeah I got to take a break we got one more round each we'll do that as we wrap up this Thursday edition of PFT Live right after this all right one more round in the week five matchup draft Devin you are on the clock we got to go with the obvious one right Joe borough Lamar Jackson why not big game we talked about it earlier AFC North these guys going head to head they'll do it again later this year but huge matchup for the Bengals trying to get back to 500 and working their butts off to get there and they really need to get a win against Baltimore so two younger quarterbacks not as young as they once were but two guys that I think we all love watching so I'm looking forward to seeing them go toe to toe I can't believe this is just a one o'clock game to us it's kind of a big matchup right now yeah it is it's one of the most impactful and compelling matchups of the weekend every once in a while you get one of those games that drops in at one o'clock eastern on a Sunday and you think how how is that how is that in the cluster of seven eight nine games that we're trying to watch all at the same time okay I I usually will look at the schedule when doing this draft in search of a way to give some love to an obscure game and I looked at Panthers Bears and on the surface who the hell cares at a deeper level though think about this Caleb Williams versus Andy Dalton slash Bryce Young the bears have Caleb Williams because David Tepper had to have Bryce Young who's now on the bench behind Andy Dalton who was QB one in Chicago before he got benched for Justin Fields who hasn't done anything according to Mike Zimmer and there's some layers and there's some levels here and it will only heighten the embarrassment that the Panthers have to be feeling because in their zeal to get Bryce Young they handed the Bears Caleb Williams who is the first number one overall pick of the common draft era at the quarterback position to go to and oh at home to start his career obscure fan that you didn't want to know it's all the fans of Chicago Carolina are so happy you mentioned this everybody else is like what the hell is he talking about you do not care about this game I wanted to give that game a little love I was going to talk about your Patriots trying to contain Snoop Huntley who Tyree kill also we didn't play this part he went on and on about Snoop Huntley you know what before the game on Monday night he was in the tunnel with Laura Rutledge going on and on about how great the offense was going to be and we saw how that turned out for the dolphin so good luck to the dolphins and the master the media on Sunday great stuff Devin everybody enjoy your
