Alright, welcome everybody to another episode of Talking Ball Live, post-game with Pat Leonard from the New York Daily News, and on the Believe Network, and on the PL, on NFL YouTube channel. I am sitting here in the press box at Lumenfield in Seattle after the Giants 29-20 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. An unexpected result, an exciting result, a lively locker room. I have everything to bring to you information, notes, quotes, updates, analysis, everything you want to hear from, Isaiah Simmons, Bryce Board Wheaton, Tyrone Tracy, Darius Slate, and Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, Brian Dable. My main takeaway from this game. On the field, we have Daniel Jones, Darius Slate, and Tyrone Tracy Jr. and the offense, making progress despite missing, really they're two top weapons as far as both production in neighbors' case and usage in Singletary's case at running back. These are two players that the Giants have leaned heavily on. They did not have available for this game, neighbors with the concussion, Devon Singletary, with the groin injury, and yet look at the production that the Giants get from the players who step in. Darius Slate and eight catches 122 yards and a touchdown, including the Giants' first 40-plus yard completion of the season of 41 yard down the right sideline. Daniel Jones, 23 of 34 for 257 and two touchdowns, no interceptions. Jones also had 11 carries for 38 yards. Lowered his shoulder a couple of times, too. It took a lot of big hits and still made a lot of plays. Tyrone Tracy, I've been telling you guys this from the jump. I like this player. I like this draft pick. I like this player. Finally gets his shot after Eric Gray's goal line fumble there. 18 carries 129 yards, 7.1 yards per carry, including a long of 27. Talk to him. Kid is confident. I like him a lot. I think he can help the Giants now and in the future. You know, we talk sometimes about the lack of building blocks that have been placed here. I consider Tyrone Tracy Jr., along with Malik Neighbors, the first round pick, a solid building block like that player. And let's give the shot out right away here to the offensive line. The Giants' offensive line takes a lot of heat deservedly so when they don't play well, when they have bad seasons, when the quarterback isn't given a best chance to succeed. In the pass game, pass protection this game, and in run blocking coming off of that disappointing effort against Dallas at Memphis Stadium in week four. Just an all around impressive effort. Talk to John Michael Schmitz, the center as well about that so we can get into a lot of detail here. But the main overall takeaway, of course, Seahawks didn't score a touchdown on offense until the late fourth quarter. That's another big deal. And like I said, the offense taking strides. But what stood out to me in this game was Brian Dable. His temper was hot. He was boiling on the sideline, yelling at the offense, yelling over the headset after the defense allowed a costly field goal right before the half to tie the game 10-10 at halftime. And that to me is what really kind of set the tone for the urgency of a day that it could have gone either way, right? We could have seen it go poorly where Dable has gotten trouble in trouble with his temper in the past. Of course, especially considering all the people from the staff who left last year who left last year. And when you see him smacking his play sheet talking to the offense on the sideline, when you see him screaming over the headset, when you see him after the game saying you basically lost his voice, you screaming at the officials for a missed holding call and defense late in the game that he thought was not the whistle should have been blown and was not. And considering all of that, you say, okay, this is either going to set a positive tone of urgency or it could end up spiraling because if they lose, they go to one and four, you have Dable losing his cool. And then there's the other side of the coin where it could go and how bad could it get. And so I talked to some of the players in the locker room and they liked the tone that he set. Dexter Lawrence said that at halftime, Dable came in here yelling at us that we can't keep doing the bullshit that we were doing. Whether it's dropping a ball, letting him out of the pocket, penalties, whatever, that's how we lose. So there wasn't a lot of praise. It was more, let's dig in and finish this game. Dable also said that after the Eric Gray fumble, what he said to the guys on offense on the sideline on the bench was we should have profanity enter, you know, enter F word here, scored. No more wishy, should have could have would have stuff. Let's do it. Dexter said he was more fired up today, but it was good. We fed off it. And Chris Mann hurts who really is a good veteran presence who has the pulse that you might find. He said, I think it pressed the right button. We know Dable is as passionate as they come when it comes to winning. He knows what it looks like. He's been a part of it in the past where he's been. That type of message permeated through the locker room and sent us into halftime having the right mentality. So I thought that stood out a lot. It was really nice to be in a winning locker room. The Giants players were excited, proud of the effort that they should have been proud of. No doubt about it. They came in here and they out manned and imposed their will. On the Seahawks. There's one thing Tyrone Tracy Jr. said. He said football is all about imposing your will. I love that quote. A lot of fun extra stories to write coming out of this game. I already filed my main story for the New York Daily News that you can find on the website there. But really excited to write a story about Darius Slater. A story about Tyrone Tracy. A story on its own about Isaiah Simmons. A story about the defensive line. Dexter Lawrence being dominant. All of that type of stuff. So, you know, really excited to unpack all of that. So we're going to get right into the questions and to the queue and fire up the chat. Remember, as Patrick says here, as always, smash that like button. Go Giants. So yes, hit the like button while we are live, please. That helps drive engagement and tells more Giants fans that we are here. And listen, we're doing something special here. I'm a beat writer and NFL columnist for a national newspaper in New York. And I'm coming to you guys live after all of these games from the stadium after talking directly face to face to all these players to Brian Dable to the coaches and bringing you firsthand knowledge and information. I really love what we're building here on talking ball with Pat Leonard on the Believe Network. And with all that I've been doing at the New York Daily News. And so fun to have you guys a big part of it here. Jacob Petruzi says LFG and smack that like and sub button for the best Giants beat writer in the business. Thank you, Jacob. I say, use a weapon like that in the ways that he excels and not. For example, Dabel referenced putting guys in the best position to succeed is what the coach's job is. He's going to talk a little bit about that. He's going to talk a little bit about that. I think what I was saying was an interesting play to me as well was when Eric Gray fumbled what I didn't like, because remember coming off of Deontay Banks not looking like he wasn't trying on the CD Land touchdown last week, Jerome Henderson lit up his lack of effort. Coming into this game was like, "How's Banks going to respond? How's the team going to respond? Are they going to quit? Are guys going to quit if things go wrong?" Obviously something went really wrong early and the team didn't quit. They fought back. They battled back. They stuck their noses into a hard, tough kind of response and they did it. But on that play at first, I didn't love that when the Seahawks racial Jenkins returned that fumble for a touchdown 102 yards, only one Giants player chased him the whole way on the offense. And that was Chris Manhertz, the tight end. So at first I thought, you know, that was kind of, I didn't like seeing that, right? It was only one guy chasing a handful of guys, including Andrew Thomas, Daniel Jones, a couple others got out towards like the 40 year midfield, but that was really towards the end of the play too. So I'm saying, you know, I want to see more effort. I want to see more in that regard. Now, that said, I also loved watching Manhertz show that hustle because even though it was only one guy who did it, it was indicative of the fact that someone is setting the example. And if someone sets the example, people will follow. And I talked to Chris Manhertz about that and how important it is to show that kind of finish. And Manhertz said, "I mean, it's everything. You kind of have to lay out. In this league, a play like that is unforeseen, but you never know what you can do to make a difference. Unfortunately, I didn't make the difference on that play. But I think effort is important. And I think that's emblematic of the type of culture we want to build around here." So I think that was a really interesting play that stood out to me. All right. Franklin says, "Will you ask Dable and the defensive coordinator why Simmons is an in?" Yeah. Dable alluded to that, to the fact that he knows Isaiah is a first round pick with pedigree, whose playing time and usage has been different between coaches and teams and that it's not easy for him when he appreciates that he stayed ready. So he kind of alluded to that. Like I said, Franklin, I'm telling you, I mean, they trust corners more in past coverage and they trust other linebackers more in the run game. It takes creativity to use an athlete like that. I don't think this defensive staff, they are evolving and you're seeing them create pressure and do more now. But Martindale was a very experienced defensive coordinator employing Simmons in that scheme last year. And in spots, it wasn't like he was playing all the time always, but that usage was different than you see now. And so, you know, Shane Bowen's a younger, less experienced coordinator who's learning in his first season with the team. So that's what I chug it up to. But Franklin, I can promise you there will be more conversations about that. We have talked about this earlier in the season and we'll go back to it this week in these press conferences. D Kit says, "We had no procedure penalty use the whole game in that stadium with that noise. That's remarkable." Yeah, no, very well done. I did not strike me as too overwhelming of an atmosphere compared to what its reputation is and what it can be. But, you know, credit to the Giants and there are actually a good amount of Giants fans at the end, you know, cheering, "Let's go" Giants when the game ended and kind of hanging around after. So, you know, that was very cool to see. All right, let's see. This is a mini meditation guided by Bombas. Repeat after me. I'm comfy. Comfy. I'm cozy. I have zero blisters on my toes, listers. Granger, for the ones who get it done. Let's go to the next question here. Who is checking in with us? Thank you so much, guys. We have a lot of numbers in the chat. Listen, we need some W's. You know, the last post game chat after that Dallas game. I know it was late at night, but even like last month, this past week as we did our talking ball lives and we were previewing the game, I know baseball is going on. It's playoff baseball. People are excited. But God, there was just a lot, not a lot of energy for the Giants during the week leading up to this game. And you could feel the apathy setting in in a lot of parts of the fan base in reactions and how people were kind of talking about the team and treating them. And you know, that's the worst thing that can happen is that people decide this isn't even worth talking about. Right. And so I think I can feel your guys enthusiasm and excitement. You need, you need results sooner or later and Giants are two and three now. You know, they need to keep doing it though. As, as Dave will said about Daniel Jones, he said the quarterback played well again. And I think the exact quote was he said, we're going to need him to continue to do that. All right. So Jacob says, did we find our running back one in Tracy? How did banks do today? Is it crazy for me to say we have a top 10 align his neighbors or motors injury long term? Neighbors looked like in better spirits on Friday. I did hear that he was having symptoms into the middle of last week. So then like Thursday and Friday seemed like his first two progress days. So that really could mean like the first two days since symptoms stopped. So hopefully he still doesn't have any symptoms coming off of late last week. And then that would indicate it's not longer term, but we will say it's a concussion. You never know. Motor single Terry. I think clearly without Tyrone Tracy just played. I mean, you don't want to be short handed at running back necessarily. But I think, you know, if it requires an extra week, it requires an extra week. Single Terry was inching towards trying to play. He couldn't go. But since he was trying this week, I think it's, there's a good chance he'll be questionable for next game. And maybe end up still dressing. Patrick says we did find our running back. He just needed a chance to play. Iconic says, can you ask if Hyatt is in the dog house or if Jones was told not to throw to him at all? Why did the organization draft him if not going to use him? Yeah. So, yeah, let's take a look at. Yeah. So jail and Hyatt not targeted in the game. He played, I can tell you his snaps here in a second. He played 48 snaps. So that's 67% of the offensive snaps. And he did not see a single target. No, he's not being told not to throw to jail and Hyatt. I think that jail is, listen, the scouting reports on him pre draft in certain respects were spot on as far as concerns with his route tree, what he was asked to do with Tennessee versus what he needs to learn to be able to do in the NFL. Like Darius Slaton's a better all around receiver and route runner. Also, Daniel Jones is more comfortable with Darius Slaton. That is a 100% lock, like, you know, players told me that Hyatt said that when he did an interview about a week ago, you know, on camera, Jones and Slaton have that report. I mean, no targets to jail and obviously is interesting, but I think it had more to do with them liking the matchup that they had with Slaton, especially when they had number 22 Seahawks corner their tray brown he had a really tough day. They were picking on him a lot. But yeah, I mean, you want to be able to spread the ball around and trust a receiver. So interesting that he was not targeted for sure. Something to continue to dig into is like we've talked about every week, Slaton and Hyatt, you kind of go back and forth on like, so wait a second, is Darius Slaton going to be the deadline trade if the Giants are out of it. And then Hyatt is going to be a guy they try to elevate and move into a bigger role or is Hyatt the odd man out actually. And now they're two and three if the Giants are hovering around 500, then they're still competing. They're not trading a guy like Slaton. So then is, is Hyatt a casualty or does he just stay on the roster and he's not used much, you know, all that thing, or all of that becomes a question. 10 Peter says, amazing what a fixed offensive line can do for a quarterback, whatever the solo is paid the Giants should double or even triple it. I think once Daniel Jones can get his default timing with neighbors down what he has with Slaton, let's go. Yeah, you know, I think they do protect the line a little bit by not, they didn't take a ton of deep shots today. They took some, but they're calculated, you know, they try to be efficient. They don't want to set Daniel up to get smoked in the backfield and they don't want to hang the O line out to dry. One thing that was noteworthy though in this game was a lot more 11 personnel from the Giants in this game clearly felt a couple things. Number one, they definitely were picking on the linebackers of the Seahawks early in the game. Screen passes to Gray, they even used Theo Johnson a little bit in the past game. He had a season high 22 yard catch on the first touchdown drive to set up one down Robinson's TDA. And they were picking on them early, but I think spreading the Seahawks defense out helped them in the run game, helped them in the past game. And it got like the Seahawks, they, Tariq Wolin ended up leaving the game and the Seahawks were, they were about a corner short, this whole game defending the Giants in the past game. In fact, if neighbors had played in this game, he would have gone completely off and so would have Slaton, I think, because I think they really would have had trouble defending, you know, let's say with, you know, with Hyatt being a guy that Jones is throwing to, that would have just been another player that was getting fed the rock often. But Ken, to your point about the offensive line, you know, playing 11 personnel that less match protect, and then to your point, you know, encouraging how they held up, how they fared. All the personnel numbers are Seahawks had three sacks and five other quarterback hits. And let's see what the pressure rate was from next gen stats. Pass rush Seahawks past Russia's more pressures than I realized. So Seahawks had Seahawks are credited with 21 pressures. That's a lot of pressures, compared to what I thought they had. Sometimes those things can happen on the same play though, like if three guys are chasing Daniel Jones, that can count as three pressures on a play. Let's see the Giants defense at 13 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 36, 37, so 27 so comparable pressure rates for both sides. What mattered most was in the running game to me, you know, past game that's encouraging, but like I said, they protect them a little bit in the past game by trying to be efficient and keeping it short, but credit to them, obviously, they were non functional as an offense last year, in part due to the line. But John Michael Schmidt said, you know, we found we we focused more on the details and on our execution. It was, we knew it was an area that we had to focus on in the run game. You look at those three and four yard carries early in the first and second quarter, you start leaning on them and they can turn into big and explosive plays and explosive runs. We're proud of the effort and the mindset that we had today. So that is, you know, that obviously deserves to be pointed out. Interesting note, when they went jumbo on the goal line, Josh Zoudo comes into the game as the extra lineman so even going jumbo on a run play of a deal right in the game. Joe Winograd says so ready for Pat to eat his take on the Giants this week but anyway we got to win let's go we dominated the game and almost lost but found a way to win thrilling. Hey Joe I wouldn't admit I was wrong of course I was wrong, how can I not admit I was wrong. You know the Giants took you know they surprised the Seahawks they surprised me. They surprised a lot of people today and it was exciting and encouraging with no doubt about it. I took it on the chin today with my prediction but I gladly will if it means exciting winning football. Brett says big boss giants were pissed just enough. Let's see. Michael says hey guys what a downer start with that fumble then that great play by Simmons to block a field goal attempt. Giants just don't make it easy on fans. Yeah that was, listen, when the Giants got gave up touchdown to Smith and Jigba and then the Seahawks got the ball back after stopping them. You know I think everybody was wondering you know is this is this really happening like I put out on social media on X my account there's P Leonard NYDN. Are they going to win or lose and you know a lot of people knew exactly what I was saying there it's like here we go again is how it felt like that's you just love that they make a play in that moment because. And it goes differently season to season as well. You know there are some season where it feels like things are going against you as a team or as an organization or as a fan base it's just like nothing's going right. And then there are some days or seasons where you just feel like you're getting the breaks you know some of these years where the Giants have lost on last second 63 yard field goals and stuff like that you know, or remember Dexter large jumping off sides on the Miss field goal in Washington. They're like this where I say Simmons makes it and the Giants prevail and they're the ones who make the play as Simmons said. You know I've kind of staying ready and making that play to win it. He said. I just knew that it was my turn it was my turn to make it play so go make it. I like Simmons a lot. Oh right. Hunter says does table hate players on social media after games. Just saw something from Bleacher report of him telling on Dale to shut the shit off or something. I did not see that Hunter that's interesting. I'll go take a look at that I'm actually going to make a note of that right now because I had not seen that. I mean I will say this, the Giants leadership Joe Shane and Brian Abel they're very attuned to and pay a lot of attention to what is written, what is said, what is on social media on the Internet, how fans feel how the media is covering them what people are saying. They're also from my vantage point very active and trying to drive the conversation and build certain whether it's narratives or at least get their side of stories out there. I'm very active with it as well more so than any regime I've seen as far as I'm trying to be to preempt stories by telling their own. So yes, I believe that that would be true because they're very involved in that. Patrick Evans what's up again Patrick thank you. He says Pat I think it's time to say cable is a good coach with just slain and Robinson to get a win in Seattle is impressive we need to keep slight. Slaton is a I would say a lovable player as far as a fan base goes right don't you think. Yes a true a true giant and an OG at this point basically even though he's still a young guy. So is it time to say table is a good coach. Listen I think they he did a good job today. I thought that he was losing his cool today and I thought that if the result didn't go if they didn't make that play and they ended up losing this game. This was headed towards the bad table like the hey we did a lot of good things but then we didn't manage the game well enough at the end we lost. And now, you know, Rome is burning type thing and that's what you know happened last year right. And so this is why the results matter so the giants are two and three. Is stable am I going to sit here and say tables a good coach. He should be with the Giants for a long time he's a great coach he's fine. No no no I'm not I'm not going to sit here and make that sweeping judgment. I am the and I'm not no I'm not I'm not like converted is that's what you're asking me. You know, small picture here I'm of course going to sit here and praise Brian Naples coaching and game plan and victory for this game. I mean he did a great job for this game in how they attacked Seattle's defense in how their defense was motivated and playing hard after Deontay banks and that stuff last week. And that's what you expect that's what you need. Listen to Patrick the way I see it is. He should be the standard. And what I mean by that is the effort the physicality. Getting in the end zone like for example, they went seven straight quarters without a touchdown as a team from the first half of the Cleveland game in week three, until the second quarter of this game here in Seattle. So after you know winning one game I'm not ready to sit there and say, oh yeah everything's fine, you know what I mean like as far as from a big picture, everything's now studied out we're good. So that's why I would resist that but yeah of course of course this is excellent. As far as winning this. And by the way, on the subject of Darius Slaton, and you saying we have to keep slay, Dave will actually send. He said something about. He's very dependable and very smart about Darius late he said he's always done whatever we've asked of him. He was like pretty praise worthy of him. He says Daniel Jones last four games six touchdowns one interception on a Hail Mary 68 completion 68% completion 261 yards per game fifth most efficient passer during that stretch and that's with 12 drops which is second worst. That's a great summary MJ thank you for bringing that to us great summary. Hey, Daniel's doing while we're on the subject of Daniel. I'll share with you guys some of what he said podium. So, Daniel Jones's parents were at this game by the way I saw them outside the locker room there. So, all right let's see. He said the wind feels good big play at big time play at the end by Isaiah Simmons the defense played great all day against a really good offense feels good. He said he was confident coming into the game without Malik neighbors or Devin single Terry. He said he thinks they're deep at their skill positions and he said you saw a lot of guys step up today make a lot of plays when we say that we need it, we have a lot of confidence in those guys. He said he felt really comfortable today. He thought the line played really well all day in the past game and running game they had a really good game. And especially he said the running game getting going was huge he said a lot was made of not being able to run the ball as well last week. I think when you look at our starts in the season we've run the ball well for most of the time we're confident in our run game. You saw that today how they played I think we understand who we are and what we can be. We're not to get too distracted by some of the stuff that comes up after one game we have a lot of confidence in our running game. That's really interesting that's Daniel kind of going after us in the media a little bit. I mean they did have 24 calories for 26 yards against Dallas it's not like anybody made it up. Daniel also said he was asked there's a constant thing in New York for you media attention and constant storylines how do you handle that and not get distracted. He said I think just knowing what's real knowing what's actually going on what happened. He said you know you can't follow the storyline of the week. I think that's just about focusing on what we do listening to the opinions that matter. That's the people in the building coaches teammates focus on that. You're not distracting yourself or allowing yourself to look outside of it. So I thought we did a good job of that this week and that's important for us as a team. But always be a story of the week or a kind of idea that's out there and it's our job to know what's real and fix the problems that are real and also to ignore the things that aren't. Very interesting spicy Daniel spicy Daniel Jones. Oh, winner grad. Thank you Joe Joe says I feel that year one. We were as good as we could be year two was the worst possible outcome with this year splitting the difference it's early but more to take away from this season in my opinion, especially with bookies. Yeah, you want to you want to just keep seeing it build right keep seeing it build. And Joe thank you for that $10 super chat there really appreciate it. All right, let's get back to the queue here. Kyler also noting that it looks like Tracy stole single Terry's job tonight possibly I mean single Terry obviously be involved when he's healthy but you know you can't keep time when Tracy off the field much when he's playing like this, of course. And yes, Joe and I not involved even though he was on the field. Patrick says, Pat, I think we should have should be using Theo Johnson more. He looks like he could be a dominant player. And I love the youth movement today. Yeah, good to see the young guys chipping in Theo Johnson they do have him involved Patrick. I think that the the rookie tight end, they like him as a blocker they know you can help in the past game as well you want them eventually to help in the red zone. I mean I thought it was kind of is almost discouraging to see him come out of the game on the goal line at one point in favor of Isaiah Hodgins, but like Hodgins has proven over the years to be a reliable red zone threat. Theo Johnson supposed to help you there but as a receiver, he hasn't made the amount of plays they've wanted him to he's had some drops. He's had some mental errors as well just just in the in the games in general. Like, like whether it's alignment or who he's blocking like those kind of things so those things have cropped up. So that's part of the rookie kind of growth and development and kind of the bumps in the road. Let's see. Patrick, thank you for that super chat there. All right, let's get back into the queue. We are rolling here on talking ball live post game with Pat Leonard. Here from Lumen Field in Seattle. Yeah, love this love this stadium Seahawks have been gracious host as well. Hunter says Tyrone Tracy is a God dang stud. Wow does he have some burst and he's shifty as hell Michael agrees he's impressive. Just wish they had a spy on Seattle quarterback the 35 run yard run never should have happened. Yeah, the defense was playing well and then would just have some like huge breakdowns. But obviously like I said, they didn't score. They didn't score a touchdown on offense the Seahawks until like 206 left in the fourth quarter. So. All right, let's see. We've got. Kyler says flat has been playing not too bad last three games. I got to hit you up once I won last week. Since I won last week. Oh, yeah, on the state. Yeah, you won the estate 98 coffee trivia question last week. So yes, you have to direct message me your address so I can send you that. He says, I work too hard and the Giants trust me out. So I forgot. Hit that like and subscribe. Thank you Kyler. Yes, please send me your address. We will have, we'll do an ad read in a little bit and then we'll come out of the ad read with the state 98 Giants trivia question of the day. Jake says not expecting to see any columns from that trashing table and Shane this week. Jake, why would I write a column trashing the GM and coach after the team played really well and some guys looked good. You write a column criticizing a team for mistakes and concerns and misuse and issues and management and bad drafting or whatever. All those things can still be true and still relevant like it's a full picture, you know, every week's different. Even they will set it after the game. He said, listen, we win this one. He goes, it's great. But now we got another tough one. We got an explosive offense and Cincinnati coming in and we got to prepare for. So. Jake says if I isn't going to do anything more, I'm more than fine trading him. I don't want a six or seven in return though. Todd says single Terry just got wildly pipped by Tracy. Jonathan says, I know Daniel Jones has been playing well lately, but the Giants can't fall for the banana in the tailpipe right and bring him back next year. I just don't trust he could do it again and stay healthy. We'll see. Got to give him credit for today. Todd says, great win today, we should be four and two. Yeah, you can't do that though. Like, you know, these games are coin flips either way. Like today, the Bill's Texans game, the Bengals, Ravens game, the Jaguars, Colts games, like all these games are decided by final play over time coin flip stuff at the end where you say, hey, one play here, we should have won that game. So the results are what they are. Like, for example, here, the Giants had a strong performance at the end, looked like they were starting to maybe cough it up, maybe it was going to slip away, but what happened. They caught it, they made a huge play, they won the game so they deserved to win it. You know, can't sit there and say, well, like if you're a Seahawks fan, can't sit there and say, well, the Seahawks technically should have won the game, but, you know, there was a free play that happened on their kickoff or the special teams and on the field goal that you can't do that. Patrick says, I think Daniel Jones is doing well, I still think we should have to quarterback remember he has an injury history. Yeah, it all goes into the decision making process but I can tell you if Daniel plays the way he played today, like throughout the rest of this season, then he's their quarterback. You know what I mean, like, the Giants ownership feels too strongly about him to bail on him with something like that, you know, like, if he plays like this, he ain't going anywhere. Hers, great to see you. Hers says, Cam Ward and Jalen Millrow both have much higher upside than Daniel Jones, James says Daniel Jones has played great this year minus the Vikings game. Barb says, Dimes, and what an ending Wow Isaiah Simmons, Eric says I wouldn't mind Travis Hunter as our CB one and wide receiver three top five pits as Hersh Tracy needs to be the number one says bar her says the true MVP of the Giants is Carmen the O line coach. Jake says does this win tell you they are moving in the right direction. This is one of those wins that says hey, if this is the team that they're turning into they would be heading in the right direction. Yes, let's see if they can back it up and be consistent But yeah, this is definitely an impressive win, no doubt about it. Tony says much needed win proud of my G men today. Jake says best Giants O line since yeah that's a good question. I mean, like I said, this is one of the more complete offensive line performances I've seen from the Giants line in quite some time. Super unknown says we won Pat we won, john wants to know if I asked table about his job set status. I did not because they were not going to staring down the baller barrel of potential Oh and three, Oh and four start with a coach who's nearly the majority of staff had left the previous off season because of mismanagement and dysfunction in the building. And he was under pressure to show some results early or else. So that was all based on, you know, reporting and information that I had and so the trolling really doesn't, you know, I'll take a page from Daniel Jones here and say that, you know, the outside noise doesn't matter, you know, that's my best Daniel Jones impression. But, but genuinely seriously john I, you know, that that that question I asked able it was born out of like definite information that I have about the pressure that he was under at the beginning of the season. And so obviously if he had turned to performance like today and in week one or two, then the question wouldn't have been asked, you know, but that's not what happened. This was big packs as batch no doubt solving the race is who do you give the most credit to for this win. I would say, I think I give the most credit to this is a team win man, like, like I said, online defense, Dave old coaching staff, you know, Daniel Jones slate and Tyrone Tracy. Team win team win for sure. Yeah, that's right, Stephen big win. Stephen says let's go giant this win should propel us to a winning streak we are finding our identity we have a young tough group of guys go big blue. Franklin says Pat, I watch the show each week, love the content but let's be real it's pro football and they both can shouting it out of me and folks have to have their big boy or girl pants on you're getting paid. Oh yeah, no listen, there's nothing wrong with getting fired up. Dave old history though is that he gets fired up in a finger pointing way, and especially with in regards to how he handled his staff in the past. It obviously has led to problems. And so that's something that he has worked to get control of and keep control of. But today it was coming out as there was a lot of urgency because if they had slipped and lost this game and fallen into a one in four hole, looking at the Bengals Eagles and Steelers coming up. You know, that would have been what it looks like, which is a scary proposition for Dave on his future and for the Giants this season and beyond. And so, you know, I think that there's nothing wrong with showing intensity and having urgency. It just has to be coming from the right place and done in a constructive and a constructive way rather than in a way that tears down, you know. If people know that you're coming from the right place and that your intentions are good, intensity can be received very well. It's when people are doubting what your intentions are when it's a problem. But yeah, for sure, these are professionals I mean they should be able to take some sternness now and then, and you know let's be honest. Sometimes coaches are losing their minds over something because they've worked on something let's say 50 times in practice, or like let's say, let's just hypothetically say that, you know, they've told Eric Gray now, 75 times how to protect the ball. And then the goal line let's say maybe he fumbled because he didn't heed their advice that they give him every day. That would be maybe a reason why a coach would lose his mind to be like, is this the thing we talk about every damn day, right. Vincent says I want to hear your opinion on where you think the Giants online ranks across the league what a dramatic change from last year. Yeah somebody asked earlier if they're top 10 I mean, if they run the ball well like the Dallas run run game like, you know, you can't I mean, Daniel Jones said hey we've been running the ball pretty well. I mean that if they've had two games the Vikings game so they played five games. They've had three where they run the ball either. Do you ever have to deal with a nose roller? How about a snub bully? Well, if you're installing a new conveyor belt system, dealing with the different components can sound like you're speaking a foreign language. Luckily, you've got a team ready to help. Click Granger.com or just out by Granger for the ones who get it done. Okay, we're well. And then they've had two games where they didn't run the ball well at all. So I think the way I see it is if they can run the ball this way or they even run the ball fairly well in a lot of these games. Then I think you're talking about a line that looks like it could be a top 10. It's definitely top half of the league for sure at the moment with how they're playing. But what I'm saying too is if they're running the ball pretty well or even just efficiently, then that is definitely a well-rounded O line because I think they're pass protecting pretty well in general, even if sometimes they're getting help in some of the games with a heavier personnel 12 personnel. I think if they're running the ball consistently though, that makes them a true like, you know, higher tier offensive line right now. He says hey Pat Bingwin is the vibe of the building confidence that they're improving only game that felt at class was five and no Vikings and no neighbors this game. Yeah no I agree I agree with you that that was the only game that they were clearly outclassed in that first game for sure. You know Darius Slaton said something interesting to me as far as like the vibe and making progress. So I noticed that after Slaton had the 71 yards on that one drive including the 30 yard touchdown. He was over on the sideline like smack smack in his teammates hands pumping them up. And frankly I told him I thought he was saying to them hey that 22 can't cover me because from my vantage point that's what I would have been saying because he clearly, he clearly could not cover Darius. I think that an interesting comment about the vibes he said, there's just been a lot going on these first few weeks, we were one in three, and there was just a lot of negative noise and this and that I just wanted to galvanize the guys. Obviously I was able to make some plays today and what it's going like that that helps breed confidence big plays specifically just breed good vibes being able to hit some big shots. I think that answers where the vibes are in a lot of ways. You know I think he's saying and listen, Daniel Jones he's been alluded to to to to this is what I was talking about about like there's so many extra stories coming out of this game. You know, Slaton saying that about kind of the negative noise, Daniel Jones talking about all this outside noise like they are definitely paying attention to and now making a point of kind of shoving the narrative or shoving the message back in our faces are back in the media's faces or whoever it is like even there's been some of these weeks where you know I'm not even participating in it at all be like a lot of like earlier this season all the national people mocking Daniel you know they're talking about that kind of stuff too. So that's very interesting but I think it speaks to the fact that the Giants are listening they're hearing it, but they're staying confident they're proud professionals, and they're using it as fuel and they're as Slaton's describing there. They're trying to create a different vibe about their team, I think is what I see there, they're trying to create a different vibe and that's what we saw from the players and from the team today. Let's see. All right, let's get to the next question. Thank you so much Elias for checking in. They're very loyal participant and die our Giants fan. All right chat is cooking tonight. Let's see. That says why was this the second time someone had to tell hi if he was either offer on the line last week single Terry told him he's on this week Daniel Jones saw him before the snap and told him to do it. These are the kind of little things that become like mental errors or reasons why guys don't play, you know they or they go into it. Like I was saying, the Johnson has had a handful of these early on in his rookie season and it's going to happen to young players but you know they always say you can make a mistake but just learn from it and don't make the same mistake twice is what you want to try to avoid. And so you're hitting on the you're hitting the nail on the head there where if you're seeing it from a player over and over again. You know, not fun. That says on the slate and touchdown Hyatt was jogging. I need to go back and look at that. Let me see if I can find it right now on next gen actually I should be able to. Oh, let's see. So. You said Jalen Hyatt was jogging. Oh, interesting. Yeah, I'm watching it. I just watched the TV copy. And he run like an underneath about from left to right. Yeah, I guess he he knew the drop of the play probably and he knew the ball was going over there to sleep. But to your point, got to be running harder than that, for sure. I agree. Where are my entertainer says yo congrats told you man neighbors Tracy junior and new in solid draft picks rookie contributions are huge for a team like the Giants good stuff. Yes, the more from the rookies the better. Brett says no quarterback for you you or you not you Pat fans. That's what I'm saying Brett I didn't you you're what I probably just said earlier. But someone saying, you know, hey still draft a quarterback if Daniel Jones plays like this, we get a week out they interest in a quarterback. Lucas says respectfully with cano age injuries and getting paid five times what Joseph is should we move over to Joseph that's an interesting conversation. Interesting conversation Graham cano's contract. Let's see. Let me see what looks his money looks like this year. This year the dead cap. The dead cap is, you know that they take a hit if they were just to like, you know, get rid of Graham cano at this point. But next year and then 2026. If you, if you cut him, if you cut Graham cano after this year, you would have 2.5 million dead money 3.1 caps savings. And then there'd be 1.25 dead money the following season 2026. I mean, listen, I know that you like what you've seen from Greg Joseph in these last couple weeks but Graham cano has basically been one of the more valuable players on this team since he got there. He's that consistent. He's been that good. But to your point, if he's hurt, it's obviously doesn't help. And what, you know, the only time he's really let them down is when he's been injured. So if he stays healthy, then you're not giving up on a guy that you paid and you trust as a leader and you believe in. Thomas says they seem to have been getting better week by week but unable to see success. Does this feel like a watershed game for Shane and they will move him forward. Possibly could be, you know, like I said, you know, I think, even though the Cowboys game was close in the score, the Giants didn't score a touchdown in the game. And they haven't scored a touchdown in MetLife Stadium yet in two games this season. And they had seven quarters straight of no touchdowns before Wandel's touchdown in the second quarter today. So, yes, we've seen some progress and some key areas, but you need to see them make this a watershed moment by building, especially on the offensive side of the ball, by building this into a trend and a new way of operation and a new default, right, of efficiency and production. Yes, it could be that. But we've seen the other side of the coin this year too. So that's why, like, Dave owns the one who said it. He said, like, you know, this is great to have this win but like, you know, we're going to have a really explosive Cincinnati team we got to face next week. You know, so in other words, he knows the league that they live in which is it's what have you done for me lately. Well, it's really in our jobs the same way. You know, I could have a great day at the Daily News and my writing and my, and on the podcast this and that then if I get a couple things wrong tomorrow that's all anybody cares about they don't care what I did yesterday. John May says Daniel Jones is the hammer. Where my entertainer says Jones needs to stop running for real massive hits. The Geno blew that first downsliding heart, don't slide Pat. Dave all needs to get better at these end of game play calls says a lesson learned come up with a set of plays and just perfect them. Yeah, they definitely need to approve in that area second halves closing out games, being kind of solid and secure there I agree. Brett says who would have thunk it when he's not running for his life Daniel's pretty good catch the dang ball. Yeah, too many drops. That one one Dale Robinson third down drop hold cap horrible job. Holy cow. Let's see. He's fired up. Great to see you in here Mills. Intel says I give Daniel Jones credit but I still won't be a quarterback in 22, but you still want a quarterback in 2035. Optimal says walk in your trap and take over your your trap smoking that Seahawks pack all week love it optimal. He says baby fat Davidson coming through decks gave them problems all game yet decks had quite a game. Evan Neal has he taken a snap all year you say no he has not. Let me double check I didn't miss anything today no yeah he did not play snap again today so he has not played a snap all year. Mike says we're clearly in a way team as of now we haven't scored a touchdown at home yet yes exactly thank you for saying that Mike. Maybe a little bit of I remember I remember I covered at one that President's trophy winning Rangers team the NHL years ago. And the Rangers were not very good at home that year, but they were like a us against the world team they would go on the road and they thrived under that nobody believes in us kind of attitude. And when they have less pressure on them from the home crowd and they were able to apply to pressure on the opponent and on someone else's crowd. And so that could be what we have developing here you guys are kind of helping me craft a story for early this week about the Giants and how they're functioning and operating. You know with their backs against the wall and also with Daniel Jones kind of sniping the media a little bit. Patrick says I think it's time to say day moles should be our coach the scheme he had today against the sea chickens was great. Ezekiel says not sure if you answered this yet but do you think Tracy takes Singletary's job especially with Devin's fumble issues. I think he's definitely obviously going to eat into Singletary's share of workload based on this performance. I don't know if he'll steal his if he'll while he pimp him and steal his starting job I do not know that because they paid Devin Singletary some money and Dave will Dave will trust him. Mike says DJ played so much better this time against Seattle. Yes. He wants to know Simmons can be a third down linebacker yeah that's that's how they've used him in the past basically, but they're using him less like that now. Adam says not the biggest Daniel Jones family but for the first time in his career having a solid O line I feel like we're actually seeing real development. He says, oh yeah no you were answering the old line question yes they all have played every snap this season the old one. Joe says so what you're saying is that we should let the opposing team fans fill the stadium to fame that atmosphere of an away game. Brett says if I had a dollar for every time I said throw it to high MJ says Daniel Jones has been playing good football no doubt MJ says Tracy should start Brett says Isaiah Simmons is Gino's arch nemesis. Dennis says Eric Grace Fumble kept us from blowing them out why is he still on the team. We can't be using them in that role for sure Brett wants to know if Evan Neil can play D line that's funny. By the way I will say this nacho Raqib Nunez-Roches. He had what did he have three tackles a half a sack quarterback hit pass defended. Much more active than he's been in the past heard his name a lot over the loudspeaker. So we keep all the young running backs from camp battles and battles got to do wide receivers online D line the same we've got to we're going to take this team. Very important city on the planet and thinking things up Omar says hey Pat also feels good that some picks that Shane drafted contributed and signings. Yeah you got some contributions from a lot of guys, definitely a full team win including some young guys. Ken says we play better on the road until that changes we're not going anywhere. Dave Z says I just poured in a state 98 ice coffee after hitting the thumbs up now I need to use my bookie and some boom chaga love it. Barbara says oh my god Pat at least Daniel Dimes is better than Gino Smith. Jay Wordman says DJ Davidson definitely began his day with some boom chaga as I do daily. Listen to that Jay Jay uses boom chaga daily Jay how does it make you feel what does it do for you. I'd be curious for you to know get a little get a little testimonial going from you. Can would be really interested in that. Alright let's see. Thank you for plugging boom there though and thanks for using it and and purchasing it with the talking ball. Code talking ball 25 there on it's right here on the screen guys talking ball 25 you can use the QR code to. He says the plate calling made a big jump today on offense and defense got to give credit to table on the staff definitely. Brett says good job meatball the red zone calls were iffy but I'll take it. Diaz says we win when Gray spots team seven points. Yeah exactly why are you so upset with Eric Gray every time he gives the other team a touchdown early the Giants win. DJ Davidson hustle all day made the tackles that came to him barber says I told you Slaton was far better than hi it is you did. Justin says hey Pat what was the vibe in the locker room post game how much confidence do you think this team is getting being such a young team. Confidence is high I mean Tyrone Tracy said he could see the like basically in the Seahawks eyes that they were wearing down against the run. That was interesting. You know I thought that was very interesting. The let's see. I mean Ford Wheaton was funny so on the broadcast they pointed out that Ford Wheaton should have gone down after recovering that fuel goal instead of returning and scoring. You know to run out the clock. And Ford Wheaton said yeah but I needed that meaning like yeah I know but I was going to get the touchdown he goes. I needed that I saw the end zone and nobody behind me. And I was and I was going to take it basically so that was fun. Funny comment. One person who stood out to me was Dexter Lawrence decks. He said like he was asked about what they did as a defensive line to you know battling and creating pressure against the Seahawks today. Like schematically almost he was being asked about how they manage things and he said we defeated them. And that's what we're going to do every week we're going to find ways to get pressure on the quarterback. And we did a good job executing that plan. Dex is. He's not like the. He's not the sequan locker room leader necessarily he is a lead by example guy though like a proud. We're not going to lose if I have anything to say about it guy you know what I mean. That's the type of player he is he's a great player and he's one who sometimes he can decide to take over a game and he just does right. So you know that's what stood out to me was like the confidence of a player like him who's also a leader of the team. Like you saw today Dexter Daniel Jones Darius Slaton Brian Burns. These guys all sitting there saying I know that I need to play well for us to win so I did some of that here but we need to keep it going like Brian Burns actually said that he's encouraged or he's made some game changing plays in the last couple weeks. But he said he still feels like he can do a lot more you know he was asked about is this justifying now you know the type of investment that the Giants are making in you. And he said you know I made some plays but I need to make more. Michael says I've always liked slate with his speed and that touchdown was a nice route Daniel Jones led him perfectly. Intel says shout out to the Liberty. Brett says flip of a coin and could have been four and one for the Giants. Yeah I mean again you can't do that you can do that with any team in the league. Marco says Pat love the lives and what you do but got to give credit where it's due man Giants showed up without single Terry and neighbors and executed as much as this team has under performed able worked it today. Oh, Marcus 100% totally agree. I don't you know I I think it's funny when people come at me and say, you know I love this but come on you have to give him credit. I'm sitting here for 90 minutes giving the Giants credit for a really good win like I don't know. I don't understand. I mean I guess my MO is to be more critical of the Giants. But to me, it really has been the Giants lose lose a lot. And when those problems are occurring I'm able to have my finger on and my information and sources on kind of exactly what's going wrong. I don't tell you guys about what I have it. But you know I'm obviously eager to talk about a victory and I've said this before on here but constant losing doesn't doesn't do me any good. Doesn't you got do you guys any good as fans. Nobody wants it. I mean you guys asked about the vibe of the locker room. The vibe of the locker room is so much better after a win like this and all the players are excited to tell you what they did they're not going to try to give away schematic advantage stuff that they think can help them in future. In future games or like in a match ups that they intend to use maybe they think they found something somewhere right that type of stuff. But you know the the vibes are high after a game like this and yes of course they deserve credit no doubt about it. AJS points out importantly that hi it did get two first downs for us with two flags today that's true. He did draw some some penalties. Patrick says Pat I think we need to keep slightly nice complimentary piece to neighbors and we didn't have him today we wouldn't have won this game. Great. Brett says we have tight ends right on. Michael says it's amazing how much the Giants play better on the road than at home. Barbara says if they fed the ball to slate in as much as neighbors he'd have stats to I see neighbors making mistakes to he's not perfect. Hunter says I told you to your post who's going to win late in the game something about neither going to need a bottle of whiskey or something. You know bottle whiskey and what was going to go down in this game I'm glad I didn't do it. Andre says can you describe tables demeanor right before the half after giving up the field goal. Yeah he was he was yelling into the headset at somebody. He was barking into the headset at somebody and he was then like looking back at some people behind him on the sideline and said a few things but it was largely into the headset. It reminded me I didn't I didn't hear what he said right but it reminded me of all the information I got to last year where like he was yelling at you know martin Dale and the defensive staff about mistakes the defense was making it kind of. You know finger pointing and how that all kind of spiraled out of control and so in that moment that was important for me I think to notice a note because you know it could be viewed as pressing the right button and making a strong adjustment and showing urgency or it could also be something that isn't appreciated and results in like last year with the GM sitting in the on the headsets before games listening to the head coach. But yeah he was he was yelling into the headset a bunch and then that was actually before the field goal was like when they gave up the second play and then they were going to set up the field goal. And then when the field goal went in like he did he did more more yelling you know and more frustration. Gino Smith acts like the Giants are the only team that dumped him when in reality he failed on the Jets as Barbara nobody wanted him he got a backup job of the Giants for one year then was irrelevant for six years. You know, I think his chip on his shoulder is earned being that he's been developed and has played so well now in Seattle I don't think about him that at all. I mean the Giants did fire like the entire building because Gino played in a game. I mean it's not like they treated him very well. Let's see, Brett says house cave on they cut the commercial I was expecting a stretcher that he was back in seemed fine he was kind of clouding around the locker room afterwards you seem okay. Barbara says bad coaches are in Cleveland Cincinnati and Buffalo. Yeah what was with McDermott not challenging. Yeah, that that that catch. Like that catch that looked like it was in bounds from James Cook, and they called it out of bounds and he didn't challenge it took a few more and then they ended up losing by three. Then what was that, has that been, has that been talked about like everywhere all day because after that I was glued to the Giants game. MJ says, Dave was a good coach he was coach of the year team roster improving and they don't quit on him. He was coach of the year in 2022 that's right. Yeah. Jay Wordman says 24 draft looks like Shane's most productive. We will see it's early. I will say, you know, I like Tyrone Tracy alive and tell you guys that for a while, and obviously neighbors is a player. He's the one to continue to follow to see if he continues getting better. He looks like he has a lot of potential. Drew Phillips has made some plays. Interested to see him keep making them and also to stay on the field healthy. But yes, I like some of the picks. So far. Intel says okay Pat tell Daniel Jones let's see what you do against the Bengals great win but don't get cocky because you haven't been good the last six years. And he deserves credit right now. He deserves credit right now. So we'll give it to him. Brett says Jones is spicy Pat. He tried to put his head through some chess today. No doubt. Hunter says today was the first time Danny looked confident in what Theo could provide and was willing to target him some. Brett says did Bellinger get many snaps. I thought he might be the favorite today and for the next couple of games. Daniel Bellinger played 13 offensive snaps. Let's see snap totals at tight end we have Theo Johnson 55 Chris Manner's 18 Daniel Bellinger 13. That DK Metcalf will be sore tomorrow. Patrick says I don't think we should fall for the Daniel Jones trap he did this in 22 when he got hurt. Or then he got hurt. I think they should draft a quarterback nonetheless. I like Daniel but I don't trust his history. Mel says six years in and about to make the same mistake about giving that contract waiting no. We draft a quarterback to push him and the roster. Archie might not be there for 26 draft by roster and need. Yeah no. Hey Mills that's a really good point and I what your point is to listen you can feel however you want about whether you make Daniel Jones. The guy or not you know like whether you still draft a quarterback or whether if he keeps playing this way you stick with Daniel you can feel however you want about that. But I think what Mel's is saying is you know don't just say hey we're fine. If you're a if you're a facilities manager at a warehouse and your HVAC system goes down it can turn up the heat literally. Granger for the ones who get it done. People to take a really good young quarterback there's nothing wrong with doing that pushing Daniel pushing the program trying to get yourselves into that you know. The stratosphere that Washington is tasting right now early with Jane Daniels who knows where it's going to go but that's where you want to be right that's the ultimate goal. Matthew says did I miss or see it but was Andrew Thomas on the right side when they when Gray fumbled I also don't think they have the best camera angle to see if the ball crossed the plane. So on that play I'll tell you the alignment right now. So the Giants alignment on that play. They had Andrew Thomas on the left side so it was man hurts on the left then Andrew Thomas then John Runyon Jr. John Michael Schmitz. Greg van wrote Jermaine Alumino right tackle and then Josh Zoodoo at as like the extra sixth jumbo tackle out there jumbo tight end. And then they had Theo Johnson and Daniel Bellinger in the back field blocking for Eric Gray so that was the alignment there on that play. Barbara points out that David McKinney has five interceptions already. Yep. Great to see him balling out. Happy for him. Here is the link right now guys. If you want to write that down or you can go to my YouTube profile or my Twitter profile P Leonard NYDN or any of my social media accounts. You can go to my YouTube threads PL on NFL as the handle and click on the link it's this link right here my bookie dot website backslash join with Pat's picks. And then you can use that Pat's picks promo code. Get that special deal that is the my book deal. Barbara says Pat I think Aaron Rodgers is done he looks horrible this year. You know it was interesting Barbara the touchdown he threw to Lazard and late in the first half I think it was. He stepped through kind of made that on the run, kind of extended the play and then threw it. Cut or gave bought time for Lazard to find a window and then hit him. It was an improv improvisational play. It was classic kind of vintage the way Rogers does play when he played well. But you don't see that enough and he made a lot of mistakes today. Miss some bad throws, including interceptions Miss Garrett Wilson late. That loss is definitely in many ways on him. Let's see Barb says let's go Steelers. Right they're playing the Dallas Cowboys. I think the Steelers end up winning that game looks like it's six three right now Dallas. Barb says giants lead the NFL with 22 sacks. Is that true that's interesting. Let me see where everybody stacks up there. NFL sack numbers. Let's see. So the Giants have 22 sacks the Vikings have 20. The Broncos have 19 the Jets have 18 the Seahawks have 17. So yeah, it looks like they're going to lead the NFL and sacks going in the next week because well most likely I mean the Saints are the only the Saints are the closest team to them that still hasn't played their fifth game and they only have 12 lions. Yeah, leading the league in sacks. There you go. And it's coming from, you know, let's, let's look at the Giants numbers there. I'm glad you brought that up. I did not know that. Let's see. I always say this. You guys teach me as much as I share information with you when we do these seriously. It's another example of that. All right, let's check out the sack numbers. I was going to say it's largely come like by committee in a lot of ways. So. Oh, that's going into this game. So these stats didn't update yet but Dexter Lawrence has six sacks on the season now after having three today I believe. And Jason pinock has three. And that looks like cave on has two. Lot, you know, a lot of guys spread throughout like Aziz has one not show has I think one like the two half sacks. Drew Phillips has one Chapman has one burns as one. Okay, okay, is one and a half McFadden has one and a half. And Ryan Burns actually got his hand on the football a couple of times today at two passes batted down and a fourth down stop to turn them over on down so the Giants could kick a field goal there. That was the tackle for a loss. I've got a quarterback hit. He was pretty active today. James says, what's up, Pat? Oh, well, I thought we were tanking this year. What's going on? What are your thoughts on hi, and I think we should trade him if we aren't going to use him. Yeah, just don't know what you're going to get for him but for sure I agree like that's probably something you would do if he really is a guy that they're just not incorporating or even when he's on the field that that the quarterback's not going to throw to. But definitely there are other matchups they liked but it is interesting he didn't have a target. Let's see. Oh, yeah, you made a comment about I thought we were tanking this year. Yeah, no, I mean, John Marrow is never going to tank. D. Pat says John Runyon looks like Trent Williams in the run game running out in front of Tracy. Run game was very impressive. He says, Pat, who do you think is the most polarizing figure in the NFL? Dislighted by most of the media and his own fans. I'm going to go with my boy Jones. He has more heart than any player. What do you think? The most polarizing figure in the NFL. I mean, Daniel is that is that in in major part because he's talking about the outside noise and people whose opinions we care about all that. But let's face it, the interesting part about Daniel Jones and what makes him so polarizing is not like that's a media member criticizes him. It's that players all over the NFL trashing. That's the crazy part about Daniel as a polarizing figure. And it was happening again in the preseason with the pick six against the Texans, right? So that that is the crazy part about the Daniel Jones story. And I think that is what makes him so polarizing. I agree, Brett. There are a lot of polarizing quarterbacks. I mean, Toa is incredibly polarizing, obviously in Miami when he's healthy for sure. He's a guy who, you know, it's like every time someone brings up his name, it starts an argument, you know. But I would, you know, I would throw to it in there as well. Rush five, I'm going to give you, I'm going to let this slide once. But if you keep being vulgar and nasty and making this personal, you're going to get blocked out of this chat permanently and in a timeout. I don't mind disagreement and I definitely don't mind debates. I love debates. I also, as you saw earlier, I don't mind somebody calling me out for being wrong and I read it out loud and I say, yeah, I got the prediction wrong and here's why I was wrong and all that. I love all that. But please don't be vulgar or personal. So this is my, this is your last morning. Yeah. Nicking around says, Jones haters are punching air right now. Barb says, funny CD land just made the same gesture that Darius slavery did with no penalty. That was a ridiculous call, ridiculous call. Michael says, yeah, what's the deal with those first down signals being called on sportsman like Barb says, yeah, Michael total BS with that penalty. I think that the official thought he was doing like a rifle or a gun, because they've been finding guys like neighbors got fined for his touchdown celebrations in Cleveland. And so, so the, you know, I think that's why they, that's why they penalized him but I didn't view that as him using a gun or pretending he was using a gun I thought he was just making a big first down sign. Brad has says Daniel is taking massive hits very scary with his injury clause he is taking massive hits. It's a big boy though he can handle it. Brett wants to know what's the range of our new kicker. Well, he hit I believe a 61 yarder in Minnesota endures to beat the Giants two years ago. You know that he has that indoors, he missed the 48 yarder out outside in Cleveland, but he's hit in the 30s and 40 ranges, the last two weeks and has been hitting pretty consistently. So, he has hit in the 60s in his career. You know, it meant like stadium. Is that is that a little bit different. I'm trying to remember what his long was in the, in the Cowboys game I think he hit a 50 some yarder in the Cowboys game, trying to go back and look here. Yes, he hit 150 plus against against the Cowboys in meant life so that's good he already has that one under his belt longer from there. And then in his career, he is 17. He is 17 of 29 over 50 yards in his career. He's 33 over 40 yards, and then 33 of 34 in the 30 range and 30 for 30 in the 20s. I was like still on the street that the Giants were able to pick up. He's a veteran he's not a young guy who hasn't been there before he's made some big kicks, but he also, you know, gets less reliable as you as you get to step out further. So, let's see. Big Pat says the team is getting better every week so far they didn't have neighbors or Singletary today either. James also says this game shows the skill positive. Depth improvements this year's draft class strutting their stuff. Hunter says we should trade Evan Neal for anything would be best for both sides I don't like him but I do think he has some potential and a great fit. Very strange, very strange scenario there. Walter says Neal is a waste of pick Miss Ella says he is probably very good at the run game. He is better in the run game for some reason they won't play him. Joe says Dexter Lawrence has six sacks that's tied for second behind Aiden Hutchinson what a player making a case for defensive player of the year. Deepad says he for McKinney has one interception in every game as a Packard. James Ella says this is not your second game this year where he killed it yeah he did play well today. Jay pointed out that Boom Chaga hold on here's his comment right here. Let's see he says that Boom Chaga adds a bit of extra pep to my coffee Jill that's a good way to put it. David G says Tyrone Tracy Jr. should be starting what's up Pat what's up David Vish what's going on how you guys I'm doing very well thank you for asking Vish. I will say pretty tired with the time change did go to the Michigan Washington game yesterday that was a lot of fun. I want to go as a fan just taking a college game and a football game as a fan. I don't get to do that very often. So that was a lot of fun. And yeah but you know long trip long flight. So let's see. Next in the queue here strong chat tonight guys strong chat. Vish says I guess we are stuck with Dabel and Shane if they keep playing games like this yes of course. We'll see D kids as Pat I think the Giants needed this win for Dex's mental health you could see the frustration building with him. That's a good point. Yeah like I said too. I don't think he's the leader he's not the Saquon stand at your locker and just keep speaking for a team that's not going anywhere you know what I mean. He's the I'm going to go out on the field and dominate and set an example that way guy. And so when he's in that position like he was today that's where he thrives the most and getting results is really the only way. You know that you're going to feel as that Dexter Lawrence is going to feel the way that he wants to feel after these games right. So that's that's a good point. Vish says another wasted season of five or six wins a no top pick same script every year all you gotta hope that that's not where they end up in that middle ground that's dangerous right now that's where you don't want to be. You want to turn this around or you want to keep building you don't want to be in that middle ground of one foot on either side of the fence. Big Pat says decks is that heck of a player man we're lucky to have this guy. Vish says good thing the nicks are look for real and the Mets are slaying. Well yeah hey listen let's let's give the let's give the Giants some love here man they deserve some love they played a good game hard game. Matthew says hey Pat do you ever go into the opposing team locker room and ask questions curious what the former Giants players may have said after this game. I actually like doing that here and the let the last time I covered the Giants and Seahawks. Here I did go into the Seahawks locker room. This time because of the Giants when it was such a big win for them. I felt like I had to go into the Giants locker room and really kind of hear what they had to say. They heard that but joy and love said it wasn't ideal it came down to execution I don't think in any phase we played good enough to win today. We had a shot kind of at the end you can't win this league if you don't play well. When asked why the Giants round them all effectively he said I'm not sure that's something we have to seriously address. It's been showing up on tape a few times we've got to get our fits clean guys just got to bow up it's a short week. We've got to go in there and address some issues with we've been facing. He said the Giants converting on third downs we have to be stick aware meaning like where the first down markers are a lot of these routes or concepts were at the sticks and just leaky yards I think we have to clean up our tackling. We're just allowing too much free access things then when we are in man to man we have to play man better and be aware of situational football and zone. That's all of us I'll take accountability for the back end we just have to play better it's pretty simple in terms of our secondary. So, Julian love taking it on the chin there and saying that the Giants beat him so good. D kids as Pat interesting to me that this win without neighbors who has been dominating the narrative probably magnifies its importance within a locker room, whether they admit it or not. You mean magnifies the importance of the fact that it shouldn't be neighbor centric or what exactly what exactly do you mean by that that's an interesting I think I know what you're getting at but let me know exactly what you're saying there. Hunter says, Oh, no I didn't want to bet a bottle of whiskey I wanted to drink whiskey because I thought we were going to choke got it. Andre what's up, D kid says you're at the coffee capital of the US I wonder whether whether there's any boom chaga there, there's definitely some boom chaga here in Seattle know that about it. The Seahawks actually had a, they have like a barista during the game for you to use in the media as the media in the press box. They have a barista serving Starbucks coffee and they have you know expressed it's an espresso bar. So you can I've got an Americano today with some whipped cream. You know treat treat yourself Seahawks do it right. Brett says banks showed up today great job no doubt. Hunter says field Yates gave Joe Shane a lot of credit. It's always interesting how those national guys always seem to have a quick trigger on praise for the Giants general manager. Hunter says the Giants best rookie was not on the field today, but this statement win over the Seahawks reaffirms what has become clear. Early this season Joe Shane had an outstanding outstanding 24 draft. Key playmakers on both sides of the ball add in says Hunter candy man says well what a game. Deep pat says the spite of celebration of burns mega flag looking like a gun to he has to be careful. Let's see. Joe says Pat I know this probably goes without saying because you already know it, but when I made the comment about you eating your take on the Giants this week I was teasing and then no disrespect. Oh Joe absolutely no that's what I was referring to was like a comment like yours is a great way to do it and I enjoy that banter and I enjoy you saying. Hey pal you're going to admit you're wrong you know the Giants play well I enjoy that totally no doubt about it. Yeah no I was talking there was somebody else in the chat who keeps throwing like vulgar kind of personal shots at me and you know it's just silly like it's you know we don't we don't need that stuff. And actually I saw it again so they're going in timeout. Let's see. Patrick says hey Pat once again great show thanks as always thank you Patrick. Barb says Daniel Jones is ninth in passing yards. Hunter says you should have gone and said hello to wink Andre says wink was getting killed on Twitter. Yeah Michigan I mean obviously defensively. You know they want Michigan wants to make more stops than they did in that game. And also though like of course you saw the quarterback change mid game which was late coming I mean they needed to do that earlier and their offense is really struggling. Brett says thanks again Pat Barb says signing off Pat talking ball live is awesome you're the best so are you Barb thank you for saying that I didn't do our trivia question let me drop in the estate 98. Thank you for your question here giants trip. Let me get a key stat for you guys going here. And All right. Which one should I go with I've been stumping you guys. I've been stumping you guys the last couple weeks. And I feel like I have a lot to live up to now because I basically had to tell everybody. You know the answers in a lot of these cases. All right here's the here's the question. I have one last one last one last one last one last one last one last one last one last one last. In the same game. That is the estate 98 trivia question of the night for the Giants when is the last time. The Giants had a 100 yard Russia. And a 100 yard receiver in the same game. Put the answer in the queue when you think you have it. And, and the first person who answers it correctly. Will win a bottle of estate 98 coffee, which is one of our proud sponsors here in the chat. All right, let's see who else we got here. D kit says what I mean is they came in and got the win with a next man up mentality and overcame the absence of our only weapon not playing had to be satisfying and it was to team building. Yeah, that's a good point. I think that's another thing that should be written about and is a really good point by you kind of this idea of really it's the identity part of it right. So I said going in to the season that it was. It was not clear what the Giants identity was right on offense, especially. And without sake, Markley was kind of like, okay, yes, they drafted neighbors, but what are they going to be. And when you see that. Developing early, they can't get it off the ground against the Vikings. And then week two in Washington, they start moving the ball, but it's very neighbors centric with some single Terry mixed in right very neighbor centric to neighbor centric. And you started to see them forming an identity as a team that was now now had a really explosive player on their team. However, with that explosive player, it was a question of, okay, but is this sustainable. I think you make a great point that this was like an ability for a lot of guys to remind themselves and remind the Giants, and maybe even remind the coaches from a usage standpoint of what they are what they can contribute what they can do well like, obviously, the top example is tyrant trace as far as getting an opportunity and making the most of it right. So, obviously that's that's the case there. But I think you look at Slaton, you look at one else had some jobs but he's become, you know, a consistent part of the offense. The one that I'm upset about not giving out as a prop. I thought of this this this morning before the game out as I was doing some more research. The thing that I should have given out as my pick because I gave out Kenneth Walker touchdown and Jackson Smith and Jigba over yards. And I realized that the bet was Daniel Jones rushes and Daniel Jones rushing yards that was the prop to give out in this game. I could have given it out last minute, but I it was it was too late was too late, but I should have given out, given that out last minute to you guys so that's my bad. It's a nice string of prop bets hitting that that's stalled. Okay, still looking at some more answers rolling in in the queue on the trivia question. When is the last time the giants had a 100 yard Russia and a 100 yard receiver in the same game. That is the question. All right, let's see what other questions and answers are more in the queue here. Okay. D kit says exactly Pat folks are talking about key contributors not named neighbors these guys all have pride. Full game what's up thanks for checking in. D pat says did Kate did Jordan run on do something to anger the giant seems like Dave well and cave on really don't like him. The cave cave on has snapped at different people. That that's, I don't know, you know, I think. Sometimes, sometimes you players see something you write or just one snippet of your evaluation of a game they played and they take it personally and they get upset. So that can happen with a player here and there but no there's working relationships with, you know, players and reporters in the locker room. You know, like Jordan cave on and Jordan does a great job. But also the day bowl thing that you're asking about. So in the press conference, when Dave will said, how long was that past the area slate in Jordan. That's basically sometimes if there's a topic that Dave all feels. Let's say Jordan asked about a lot or like I asked about a lot. You know, he'll keep coming back to it in that regard. So in other words, that's like his way of saying, you keep asking me about big plays to, you know, to Jordan. He's taking Jordan as the guy who asked about big plays all the time, I guess. So, you know, that's him saying kind of going back to the well and saying, Hey, how long was that past again, how long was that past. You know, so just kind of pushing it back, pushing it up, or push, you know, shove it in his face basically. Again, it's like the Daniel Jones spicy thing with the medium. Elle Gante says, Hey, Pat, great work. Thank you. Oh God, he says big game from the defense flot stepped up this running game needs to be our identity. Running game, I agree. And Daniel Jones like as much as he had an efficient game quote unquote against. Against the Cowboys, the lack of the running game hurt him. And if he has a strong running game like that, it helps take some pressure off the offensive line in the past game, and then Daniel can not only be efficient but then also, you know, take some more of those deep shots. All right, let's get, let's stay in the queue. I'm still waiting for still watching these answers roll in. All right, let's see. So, let's get to the answers. I'm sure by now someone has to have it in by now. D kids as 2018. Let's see. Joe says playoff win versus the Vikings know Vincent says 2005. No. No, no, no, no, no, no. You are correct. That is the correct. Those are the two guys. Do you remember what game that was? D kids says Pat not to minimize a great win, but it shouldn't be lost in anyone that we had nine days to prepare in the Seahawks were coming up a short week. Both teams played like. Granger for the ones who get it done. From an energy standpoint. For sure. Yeah, I wasn't going to say that as far as to take anything away from them either, for sure. But yes, the Seahawks are banged up on a short week. They have another game coming up on Thursday, I think. I think they went Monday, Sunday, Thursday, which is just brutal. I don't know how the NFL can do that to a team. But, yeah, still they had a chance. They had a chance in this game and there's no excuses to the NFL. Matthew says he does not know what game that was for Barkley and Shepherd. He just guessed. Matthew, here it is. You do win because you got the two players, right? So the Giants, last time they had 100-yard rush or 100-yard receiver in the same game, was December 15, 2019. That was Eli Manning's last career game when St. Juan Barkley rushed for 112 yards on 24 carries and Sterling Shepherd had 111 receiving yards on nine catches. Matthew, make sure you send me your address on Instagram, P.L. on NFL, direct message me on Instagram. And I will send out the boom chaga, or not the boom chaga, sorry, the estate 98 coffee to you. Maybe I'll throw in some some boom chaga to you never know. Undefined says table is a mental patient. That's not nice. That's not nice. But he does fly up the handle sometimes. Yes, great game from table and bow and says Dennis, no doubt. Antonio, yes, big win. Do I expect neighbors in Singletary back next week? Not sure. Neighbors, I think, was, you know, two days out from symptoms of Thursday, Friday, that was day one, day two, from what I could tell. So if he's no symptoms now throughout the weekend and they come back and he's on the practice field on Wednesday, then that's encouraging. If he's not on the practice field yet, Wednesday, the disc averaging. And then Devin Singletary, maybe this, does it buy an extra week with the way Tyrone Tracy played? You never know. He was trying to play today, but couldn't do it. I think he's probably going to be listed questionable this coming week. We'll see if he plays or not. Not sure. Don't know of any injuries coming out of this game. Kvon was in the locker room and good spirits. I'm not sure if that's bad or any kind of issue. Deepat says they both looks great. That's not Pilates. It starts with an O. All right, let's not make it personal though. But this has been a great chat. We've gone two hours here on Talking Bowl Post Game Live. Great numbers. No surprise that the apathy is out. And the interest and excitement is back here for not only the Giants, but also our NFL talk and my coverage of the Giants here at the New York Daily News as the NFL Columbus and Giants beat writers since 2016. As well as the host of the Talking Bowl with Pat Leonard podcast on the Believe Network and Talking Ball Live with Pat Leonard, which of course we do several times a week, including post game, every Giants game, home and away. Now this week, we will not do Talking Ball Post Game or we will not do Talking Ball Live on Monday of this week. We will do Talking Ball Live later in the week, I believe on Thursday again. And then of course we will follow it up next Sunday night with our next post game live after the Giants host the Bengals in MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. D Kid says, "I have one more observation. JMS is quietly coming along. Yes, he's playing better, no doubt." Jackson says, "Will we have any update before Wednesday on neighbors?" We'll talk to Dable tomorrow, so I doubt he'll provide an update there, but maybe we'll at least get an update from him on whether he has been asymptomatic. Let's see. Mikey says, "If G-Men win more games than Daniel Jones keeps playing the same way he might finish his contract, one of the chances they finish picking top 10 if they keep winning." Well, yeah, no, if they play like this, Mike, throughout the rest of the season, then you have to think they'll end up at least 500 and not in range of the picks that you're talking about, right? But you have to play like this every week, you know, and you've got to make the plays at the end to win. This one started slipping out of their hands and threw their fingers, but they made a big play to win, right? Undefined says, "Dable is a bully, and I hate coaches that yell. One reason why I love Shiano, he explains he doesn't yell or flip out on the sidelines." Some players feel that way too. I think there's nothing wrong with intensity as long as it's coming from the right place, and it's not pointing fingers and being unaccountable, which if it goes into that territory, it becomes a problem. Yes, yes, yes. Yeah, you can get into, you're giving credit, you're giving praise, like Gable was sharing more after this one. Obviously he felt good about some things they did, some things he did, and you know, usually you see not all, not with everything, like Gable didn't want to get into like schematics here and there all the time about how they executed certain plays and what they saw in the defense or like what they saw in Lincoln, Tomlinson getting low on the field goal block or something like that. But he and the players are more willing to go into detail and to kind of explain to you how they did something well, rather than just constantly being asked, you know, questions about why they fail at something. They're just much more open and better moods and makes it easier. D. Kitts says one thing we've learned about the NFL is a week to week league got to move on to the Bengals, no doubt. But Gianna says Daniel Jones made a good day, still not sure about long term deal, good game by him, sure, even with that remains dependable on the defense side to not lose games. Big Dash says Shano absolutely used to yell. Interesting. Good point. Big Dash. By the way, yes, I should have, I wanted to do this last month, we didn't get it going, but new content creator series definitely coming around the corner, we will do one definitely in October. Luchiano says DJ is the long term solution. I don't think Dave will thinks that G-men still dependable on defensive side to not lose games. Eligante says it should not have to come down to the block field goal that offense had ample chances to put it away and didn't Simmons save the day. Agree. Luchiano says 100% agree with you. No doubt. We will end on that. Thank you so much guys. For being here for participating in talking ball live post game live. This has been fantastic. Great trip out here. Thank you to the New York Daily News for sending me on the road to Seattle. Thank you to believe for hosting talking ball with Pat Leonard. Well, if you're installing a new conveyor belt system, dealing with the different components can sound like you're speaking a foreign language. Luckily, you've got a team ready to help. Granger's technical product specialists are fluent in maintenance, repair and operations. So whenever you want to talk shop, just reach out, call clickgranger.com or just stop by Granger for the ones who get it done. Bingo. All right, Phil. We're recording now. So it's live. Go ahead. Pick on me the way that you want to. Did I say that? I would say that to my son. Man, I mean, come on, man. Just go. This isn't CBS. All right. Be quiet for a few seconds. Why would people want to listen to the Sims complete podcast? Well, a couple of things. One, if you like to see sons pick on their father, this might be the place. If you want to see a place where the father just kicks the **** out of his son, this would be the place. What do you like about it, Matt? Ditto. Father, son, dynamic duo talking about the game of football that we love and share and appreciate together. And, you know, hey, it's an extension of what we did, right? Growing up, I was able to watch my father play football, then obviously watch him as a broadcaster. And then he taught me the game of football and share the wisdom that he learned throughout his playing career. And, you know, hey, sometimes we're full of it. And sometimes we're, we actually know a thing or two. Well, we do do a lot of research, at least I do. I'm you, you're a little spotty, but, you know, you're, you hang in there. It's fun. I love doing this and it's been awesome. Sims complete. Check us out wherever your podcasts are available on the Believe Network. Appreciate it. See ya. If you liked the show, please take a moment to rate, review, and subscribe. It really does help the show to grow. Thank you for listening. (crowd cheering) [BLANK_AUDIO]
