Alright guys so I'm imagining that this is going to be a heavy UFC episode. I'm gonna do a breakdown of the UFC's event this past weekend and give you some of my thoughts. But I do want to touch on just first I want to touch on the Jeremy Swamin signing yesterday morning, early morning waking up and saw that Jeremy Swamin had signed a new eight-year deal. $66 million with the Boston Bruins so he will stay a member of the Boston Bruins for the foreseeable future. Obviously very public negotiation. I did a whole episode rambling about it and you know I think that at the end of the day cooler heads prevailed and they met somewhere in the middle. I know that some people were sort of you know throwing around blame who gets blamed for this going around so long. You know I saw some people throwing it on the Bruins which I don't know. I mean we weren't in the room you know so who the hell knows who was really holding up the negotiation. I have a feeling that the Bruins drew a line in the sand at $8 million a year and they said this is where we're going. We're not doing anything more than 8 and they conceded the 0.25. I think it was important for them. I think they tried to keep it below Ilya Sarokan's contract and I think Swamin won more than Ilya Sarokan's contract I think I think Swamin won at eight and a half nine million dollars and I think the Bruins didn't want him up there and I think they just came to agreement and said hey how about Ilya Sarokan and yeah so he gets the same deal as Ilya Sarokan at eight times 8.25. He's a better goaltender than Ilya Sarokan but he was you know an RFA so again hasn't really ever been a starter before so this is going to be a new venture for him going into the year. Yeah so you know good news for the Bruins they move past this. I'm sure that his feelings are still probably hurt and obviously he seems to take things a little personally if especially if you watched any of this Amazon series about the behind the scenes I've gotten through a few episodes and I saw Swamin's episode and you know he's definitely a guy that he's a goalie you know they're not they're wired just a little bit differently than the other dudes on the ice so a little bit more sensitive they're a little bit more agitated that's just the way things go he'll get over it I think as time goes on he'll you know time heals all wounds and I'm sure when you shove a bunch of money in there to it it also helps it so you know the at the end of the day you know whatever he it got dragged out it got public it was not a pleasant experience but I think ultimately everyone is going to move on and and hopefully he ends up panning out if he doesn't pan out obviously you're gonna that's going to be the first thing anyone brings up and holds over his head and I just hope it doesn't get to that point so hopefully he's worth it and you know but all the people though that were you know saying that oh he deserved every penny of this then it's like again he didn't have the leverage of being a UFA he's never been a true starter so the Bruins are taking a risk here the Bruins are taking a risk it's just inherent they're taking a risk they're paying a guy that hasn't really gone out and played that type of contract before and they're giving him that type of that type of money so anyways it's just good that he signed I feel confident about it I again you know it couldn't it might not pan out small chance but all things considered we should be okay and you know I'm just happy it got done and the Bruins have a goaltender and I don't have to worry about watching Jonas Corpisalo as much as that would have been fun for the first few games to see where the ball who's bought who's caught the ball went into on that one but I will say it'll be interesting to see if he starts tomorrow against Florida as of now that game is still going on obviously with the hurricane going down there hopefully everything is okay I know my grandparents are down there so hopefully that's not gonna be a problem the Bruins are already in Fort Lauderdale but and that area is not really gonna be all that affected by the hurricane but obviously the travel back I'm sure is what the league is worried about so as of today they said the game is on but obviously that could change it seems as if Swamin might potentially start tomorrow which would be very interesting it's been said all along that Corpisalo was gonna start and he's I think it's been that way for about a week but sound Montgomery left it open that Swamin could start tomorrow and I saw some people being like well that's kind of unfair to Jonas Corpisalo if I'm being really truthful with you I don't really think anyone cares you know I don't even think Jonas Corpisalo cares but that's just my opinion it'll be interesting though to see if they get Swamin going right away or if they give them a couple games before they throw him in there he's been working out at BU I know that but that's what he said but you know he hasn't really faced any NHL shooters and in this you know since the end of the since the beginning of the summer so it'll be interesting to see how they handle that situation they do have a tough schedule coming out they have Florida they have Florida multiple times they play the Kings who are a playoff team they have a softy on Thursday and their home opener against the Canadians but yeah they play Florida a couple times they play the Kings I know they got Toronto somewhere at the end of the month they have a tough schedule coming out of the gate actually if you look at their if you look at their schedule so you know getting off to a strong start it's going to be a little bit tougher this year they've gotten off to some strong starts the last couple years but I don't know when you look at their schedule and you combine that with the whole goalie situation they might get off to a slower start than they have in previous years but that'll be interesting to see alright let me just move on and let me say I'm so excited for hockey see I'm so excited for hockey season after what the Patriots have put me through this past month I am so happy that I get to just zone out and watch hockey now and it's it's probably my favorites board at the other day I mean between football MMA and hockey those are my three favorite sports but hockey is probably the one I get the most emotional over so I don't know all right let's move on to the USC card this weekend in Salt Lake City Utah UFC 307 it ends up in it ends up kind of being a little bit of a lackluster card if I'm being honest from start to finish a lot of weird judging decisions you know a couple you know an injury finish a fight that sort of was looking good and then it didn't end up and so well but I would say at least at the very least the main event sort of saved the card from being a total shit show Alex Pareta in the main event knocks out Khalil Rountree in the fourth round in what was a crazy title fight I feel like I was mostly right in my prediction is that I thought that Khalil was gonna come out in a heavy Muay Thai stance he's gonna be well guarded he pretty much was for the a large majority of the beginning of the fight got off some big shots didn't really catch Alex with a clean one though he didn't do enough to really hurt he dropped him I was gonna say I shouldn't say that he did drop him at one point when Alex threw a kick but other than that he was kind of catching Alex at the end of the punch and Khalil Khalil was dangerous he he was in there and he was he was making a fight he realized that it was his one opportunity and he was looking to seize it but man Alex he's so good he was just cooking them as the and he had to weather a little bit of a storm because Khalil was coming you know guns blazing but he just he just cooked him he waited till he exhausted himself and then he just started picking him apart in that finish that was as I mean that's gonna be on highlight reels for the rest of time that was that finish was ridiculous just the patience the skill the mastery that it took to finish that fight in that fashion the head movement the defense Khalil is still dangerous he's still throwing bombs back at Alex and Alex is just a touch at a range and he's landing big shots it was it was crazy it was masterful it really was it was masterful and it just goes to show though Alex prayer is the most reliable star that they got at the moment you know every the suits fighting three three times a year defending his belt sets the record for fastest three title defenses or most title defense whatever the shortest distance between his first title defense and third title defense at 175 days breaking Ronda Rousey's record this dude is fighting three times a year and in a sport that right now champions are fighting once every 12 to 15 months and yeah this dude is this dude's much needed never made at the moment this dude is much needed every fight he's in is exciting every fight he's in there's a finish it's just yeah he's a site to behold he's he's really special and enjoy it well it laughs because you know he is on the older side and not don't know how long he can really go for but man he is he is something special just the aura that he brings to the octagon is just crazy and it's he's climbing up as far as you know greatest of all time he's he's climbing up there obviously if he could get a big fight with John Jones or you know whoever and or become the first if he became the first three weight world champion that would really cement his status up there but he's gonna be there anyway I mean just the way this this run has been incredible for him and it's it's really been a sight to behold he's he's much he's must watch TV every time he steps in there but all right moving on from Alex obviously the homemade event a little bit weird a little bit wonky I would say it actually exceeded expectations it really wasn't that bad of a fight I did say it was gonna be so bad it was good and for I would say for three rounds it was really kind of just forgettable I kind of zoned out I switched over to the Cal Miami game at one point had it on my phone and you know I would say the fourth fifth round it started to pick up I thought Raquel Pennington had done enough to win the fight I definitely didn't think that Julian opinion did enough to win the championship I would say and usually that's just the way the judging goes but judges throw a curveball and give Julian opinion of the fight when there wasn't really any media members out there saying that Juliana won I guess it comes down to the first round Juliana definitely won round two and three Raquel definitely won four and five it comes down to that first round I thought Raquel was just being more active but I'd have to go back and watch it I don't really have a solid opinion on it but yeah it kind of ashamed that a fight that already kind of had little fanfare ends in controversy but that's MMA for you the fight before that the Batista fight now now we're now we're starting to get into the ugly so Mario Batista and Jose Aldo UFC legend fighting it was a good close competitive fight until the third round Batista seemed to seal it with you know clinching and you know holding up against the fence and you know in the moment I didn't really have much of an issue with it I was feeling like they just know now this is not my opinion of what I think should be scored but watching it I felt like Batista was gonna win the fight just because I know how MMA judging is scored should you pun it should a guy be rewarded for that I would probably say no my issue was I didn't see enough that Jose Aldo did to win the round I didn't see enough from him to offset the control time if he had hurt Mario at any point in time if he had landed some more solid strikes against Mario in that round I may have given it to him but I always feel like whenever these things happen I feel like people want to punish the guy clinching more than they want to reward the other guy and it's kind of like well it's a catch 22 are you gonna reward this guy because he got held up against the fence or you're just gonna you're just punishing this dude because that's how he fought and it was another thing was I saw a bunch of people saying like I've never seen a fight where a guy was of want to fight by avoiding fighting and it's like are you here are you every single week if you watch every single week and I'm sorry I got Monday night football on in some big dude just intercepted Patrick Holmes in the end zone good Lord at least I thought it was bad it could have been something else but it looked like he threw a pass and it was intercepted by this big fat guy that's incredible but yeah are you here it's like are you here you know every single every single fight oh it went off his hands went off the dude's hands and fucking right into this big ass dudes pop mitts look at that oh it's juju Smith's juicer oh of course it was oh he sucks yep that's what you get but yeah it's like are you here are you do you do you pay attention because it's like every single week there's a fight at least one fight where you know a dude is holding up against the fence or taking someone down and just sitting in their guard and they win the fight so it's like I don't see where anything new happened in that in that whole exchange but whatever it was a little bit disappointing because it was actually a pretty decent fight up until up until the third round and and I think that just took the wind out of sales obviously the Kevin Holland injury happens in the Roman de Leeds they fight a bit disappointing it was a weird matchup to begin with but you know it just ends in a whimper and hopefully Holland recovers early a rib injury is never fun those things take forever to heal the last time I I had a rib injury it felt like anytime I moved in the wrong direction I felt it for about six months and it's like it's just one of those things that just never goes away the Kayla Harrison Kettlin Viera fight was a little bit disappointing as well for for Kayla you know she ends up grinding out getting a win against tough opponent and you know to Kettlin's to Kettlin's credit she didn't get run through and she proved herself to be a formidable test but you know Kayla at some points that in that fight looked like she was reaching for takedowns you know kind of showed that if she did fight Amanda Nunes in the future I kind of worry about her if she that's how she's gonna fight just based off of how the Rhonda Amanda Nunes fight when I can't imagine that Kayla could come out with that sort of game plan and have success and then obviously Wonder Boy and Joaquin Buckley that was a crazy fight that was honestly probably the best fight of the night up until the main event and eventually Buckley ends up catching him in the third round didn't seem like things were going all that great for Buckley Wonder Boy looked very sharp and it was definitely one one going into that third round but Buckley lands a big shot a huge shot I mean he comes in Mike Tyson's a hook and sits Wonder Boy down face first don't know if he actually went out but he got the finish there a little bit sad to say because a huge Wonder Boy fan and how could you not be you know it set the tone for the rest of the card for me at least being a huge Wonder Boy fan it just seemed like the whole night just went to shit until the main event I parked up my mood but other than that a little bit of a weird card you know definitely left some to be desired not with that main event though the main event sort of saved it from being a total zero and yeah I thought I thought that if the main event ended up not happening because of prayer or sickness that they would have been in trouble with that one but thank God for the next potato that's all I got to say but I hope you enjoyed listening and I'll see you guys later I might do one on the Patriots tomorrow I'm waiting I think I'm gonna wait until this news comes out with whoever the starting quarterback is gonna be I'm sorry again it's just like the Patriots just they just drive me out of my mind so I'm gonna just hold off on doing an episode on them and yeah take care guys
