Hey everybody! It's Lee Ferrickson Day! King of the Bergen! [Loud rumbling] Ahoy, Patrick, it's Lee Ferrickson Day! There's a note! SpongeBob went to get more giant paper. Uh, Patrick, PS happy leaf Eric'son day! Today is National Leaf Eric'son Day. Now he was a Viking, his dad was Eric the Red. Round the year 1000 leaf and his crew landed in what today is Canada. They were sailing to Greenland, but they got blown off course. Possibly the first Europeans to set foot on North America. Now he named it Vinland because of all the grapevines that were growing there. Now that was too late in the year to try and get back to Greenland so they just made camp for the winter then headed back to Norway in the spring. When they got there they told everybody all about it when they hit Norway. Yeah, the Norwegians then, they all started trekking over to Vinland to check it out, or Canada. Now I know that's cool and all but how do you celebrate? I guess you go Nordic, you know, be all Viking, you pickled herring, smoked salmon. Let's remember this guy got to America 500 years before Columbus and the rest of the guys have fallen in so he's worth celebrating. Alright, this is going on in entertainment on October 9th. Let's go out to your 1977 number one album was Rumors by Fleetwood Mac. Mecco had the number one song with Star Wars theme. That kindles they had the number one country song with Heaven's Just a Sin Away. The number one book was Summer Really End by J.R. Token. The top movie was Oh God. God, he came to Earth as an old man and makes a young grocery store manager, his messenger to the modern world stars George Burns, John Denver and Terry Gar. Alright, what happened on October 9th during the Civil War in 1864, the Union Calvary and the Confederate Calvary went at it at the Battle of Thomas Brook in Virginia. Now the Union, they whooped up on the rebels. Locals watching the fight call that the Woodstock races as the Confederates on their horses just turned tail and ran with the Union's chasing them. Now it was not a significant battle at all, but what makes it interesting in the two officers that were in charge, they removed roommates back at West Point. The Confederate officer, his name was Tom Roser, his former roommate, General George Armstrong Custer. 1930, Laura Ingalls became the first female pilot to complete a transcontinental flight across the United States. No, not that Laura Ingalls. 1936, the Hoover Dam began sending electricity to Los Angeles. Today, 15% of all the electricity generated by the Hoover Dam, it still goes to Los Angeles. 1946, the first electric blankets went on sale, $39.50 each. That would be $650 for an electric blanket today. 1989, Pinhouse Magazine. They started printing a Hebrew edition. He brew edition. You know, there are so many kosher jokes. I don't even know where to start. 1992, a fireball blazed across the sky over a peace-kill New York, scared the hell out of a stadium full of people watching a high school football game, especially in the hurlad boom and crash. Well, everybody rushed to see what happened. Luckily, they found out no one was hurt. It was just a meteorite, the size of a bowling ball, it had taken out the Nat family, Chevy Malibu. They had it parked in their driveway. And that meteorite was actually seen from Kentucky all the way to New York. Let's check out who was born on October the 9th. He was married to his first wife from 1962 to 1968, and they had their son Julian. And he married Yoko Ono in 1969, and they had their son Sean. She's had the his Tennessee Orange. I'm not pretty. Can't break up now. She did that with old Dominion. Now we played her current song, Am I Okay?
