A lot of Americans are not happy with the economy, but this morning we've got a sign that the job market is healthy. The AP's Sagar Magani. American employers added a surprisingly strong 275,000 jobs last month, again showing the economy's resilience that made high interest rates. The Labor Department report also drastically revised down to hiring estimates from December and January, from blockbuster jobs gains to still solid ones. The unemployment rate ticked up to 3.9%. In what could be encouraging news for the Federal Reserve as it fights inflation, average hourly wages rose just a tenth of a percent, the smallest monthly gain in more than two years. When average pay grows too fast, it can feed inflation. Sagar Magani, Washington. A man expelled from Congress is going to try again, the AP's Jackie Quinn. Former New York Congressman George Santos says he's running for Congress again. On the social media site X, Santos posted a message he'll challenge Republican Congressman Nick Lalota for his seat, which is a different district than what Santos represented before he was expelled. Lalota, who serves part of Long Island, was a leader of the effort to expel Santos. Santos faces federal charges of defrauding donors to his 2022 campaign.
