A surprise in the new jobs report out this morning. Employers added a healthy 275,000 jobs in February. AP Washington correspondent Sagar Magani. The unemployment rate rose to 3.9 percent, but has now been below 4 percent in 25 straight months. The jobs gains come despite the federal reserve's interest rate hikes, but despite a healthy jobs market and sharply lower inflation. Many Americans say they're still unhappy with the economy overall, with average prices still about 17 percent higher than three years ago. Many voters blamed that on President Biden as he pushes economic stewardship as one reason for giving him another term. Sagar Magani, Washington. And last night during his State of the Union address, the president took a bow for the number of jobs created during his term, and he said he is a by American guy. On my watch, federal projects that you fund by helping build American roads, bridges and highways will be made with American products and built by American workers. Former Congressman George Santos says announced he is running for Congress again. Santos posted on X that he will challenge fellow Republican representative Nick Lalota. Lalota represents a district on New York's Long Island that's different from the one Santos represented before he was expelled. He faces charges of defrauding donors who is 2022 campaign. If you see the video, you won't forget it, a United Airlines jet lost a tire on takeoff. It was flying from San Francisco to Japan yesterday when the tire dropped off the plane. The plane landed safely in Los Angeles. The tire landed in a parking lot. United says the plane is designed to land safely, even if it's missing a tire. This is AP News. An Army soldier is accused of selling sensitive military information. Just as department officials say Corbin Schultz is accused in a six-count indictment. On charges that include conspiring to obtain and disclose military defense information, and bribery of a public official. Schultz was arrested at Fort Campbell, Kentucky after the indictment was released Thursday. He's accused of disclosing various documents, photographs, and other national defense materials since June of 2022. Schultz had top secret security clearance. He allegedly conspired with a foreign national and received at least 14 payments totaling $42,000. I'm Mike Kempin.
