I'm talking to William Phillips, the mayor of Madison, our monthly get together, and mayor always good to have this time together. Hope things are going well and lots of exciting things coming up in Madison. Everything is well, man, and I hope the same for you. Madison is looking great. Very proud of what we're doing and what we have accomplished so far. A lot of positive stuff happening. That's exactly right. I know you've got your regular board of alderman meeting Thursday, 6 o'clock, the municipal building and anything in particular we need to mention on that. We'll jump right into some of the events coming up, if you like, whatever. Not a whole lot going on this month, Mike. I do want to highlight we have a Veterans Day program, actually it's a Veterans Day parade. It's going to be November the 9th and the community has gotten together. We have approved $5,000 for fireworks. That's going to be different. It's going to be very entertaining. By the way, sir, how the merchants, those guys are doing a great job. They have been working with the town to make things look better and to keep some activities flowing. Give us the date and the time and where that starts and where it ends up and all of that. It's going to be a wonderful event and we can still be a part of that. There's no cost to be in the parade, is that right? No, it's no cost to be in the parade. I do think since the last I heard how we wanted to make it interesting. I think it was going to give away. If my member says me correctly, it was like $250 for the best-looking decorative-- Patriotic. Yeah, so I think he's throwing that incident in there. I think that's going to be really, really great and I hope a lot of people come out forward. In fact, I think I'm going to participate. I mean, if you want $50, that's right. Yeah, sure. That's right. There's November the 9th and I think it's a bit on the start. I think it's tennis. The morning, 10-11, something like that in the morning on the 9th of November. But if anybody want to have any questions about it, they can, of course, call down to the merchant's office or either call Howie at Mason or Hall and get more information on what they need to do to get signed up for it. Yeah. That starts at West Murphy and Wall Street and through the downtown area, ends at the town clock with the fireworks show, like you mentioned, and yeah, in recently talking to Howie at Ray Funeral Home and yeah, a lot of works going into this. A lot of people involved. So yeah, cash prizes for the most patriotic. That's going to be great. Yeah. So Veterans Day Parade Saturday, November 9th. Come out and show our support. Yeah. Yeah. And I may be a little off with the time to go because I had coffee at times in my so but just sit with Howie or call down to the merchant's office and they'll give you update on the time. Sure. Okay. Anything else you need to know too. Yeah. All right. And I see a note. I have a note also about, I'm talking about parades. The annual Christmas parade is December 14th. That starts in May at end and ends up there in Madison. That's always a fun event. That's always a fun event. So we're all looking forward to that parade as well. Mm hmm. I've got that on my parade calendar. We've got parades of all kinds coming up. Right. Okay. I think we got October 31st. We got our downtown chocolate tree. Mm hmm. That's always fun for the kids. I'm starting to believe that it's also fun for the adults to get out there. Yeah. I've been to that before. Kind of kind of give them some space on the sidewalks or they'll run you down. But oh gosh. That's just a big turnout for that every year in Madison. Yeah. That's a big deal. And I just encourage everybody's safety during that event. People always expect to go about traffic and crowds and you know the safety of the children to say that everybody's always important in their time. That's right. We're going to make sure that we have everything in place to assure that you know we will have safety during that time. Of course. I think one other thing I want to mention. Maybe two other things. We had to get another fire truck at the fire department. Something went wrong with one of our main fire trucks. And we got to be at well three hundred and fifty thousand dollars. And so but but we were also we were all suppressed if we got another being four hundred thousand. So we of course jumped on that one and we got that fire truck from summer season. Okay. So instead of having to pay the three hundred and fifty thousand we got one for a hundred thousand and it is a beauty and it works perfect. So we're excited for Chigwichi and the team there at the fire department. So that was a big one for us. You got a deal there it sounds like if everything works okay. Yeah. Because you know I know from past experience you know if you want to order a fire truck you're looking at two or three years before you finally get it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think you have that one available and you know you got good. Okay. Yeah that was a blessing man that was a blessing. Yeah. So we got three additional police cars. We got three Dodge police cars and so I think they are in the process of getting straight. So we got extra money for that and I'm just grateful for the work that Chief Hester and Captain Jones is doing. They have literally transformed that whole department there. I mean and the officers we've got new officers in and everything is looking great. It's looking great man. Well both your chief and assistant chief were in our studios here last week and we had just a great podcast with them and that whole team that's coming together there at the Madison Police Department. Very impressive. That's for sure and the whole morale of that department has changed. Chief Hester came in and it was low and a lot of things needed to be fixed and they're working on that and a lot of that has been fixed and people are proud to be a part of that department and I think if I remember correctly he said that's the Madison PD is the highest paid for their officers for your officers there in the county and you've got to have that to bring in the good people. That's exactly right. We live in a competitive world. Things are not what they once was and but we're fortunate to have the people that we have and the leadership that we have and I'm just grateful because we were going in the wrong direction at one point as it appears and but now things are turning and it's not that we don't have issues or we'll have issues but we'll meet the challenges head on and we'll have those challenges one by one as they come up. That's life but hey so far everything is great and the ones things to be working great together and that's what you want out of your town and your leadership here. It's exactly right. Okay and good board and you know that goes back to the board of Aldermen and Amy Roberts as town manager doing great job too and you as mayor and it's just a whole team effort we're talking about but yeah and the chief and assistant chief mentioned that in their podcast that it all goes back to the board and the support and how appreciative they are of that so yeah that's always good always positive. Yeah for sure. Yeah and we're equally we're equally excited for them for the chief and captain. Amy Amy Roberts it's very unique how that happens but I think that she's what she needs to be and what she belongs and since she's taken on that job description as our town manager she has done a wonderful job and I always praise her for her close doors and I play so publicly. She she's doing a great job and she has a heart for the city and she puts her best foot forward and she leaves with integrity and she's always looking behind herself to make sure she's gotten it right. Sometimes I think she's a little too self-conscious but hey I'll take that. Yeah sure that's exactly right. Okay anything else mayor before we wrap up. No I think that's it I just hope to see everybody during our week down town on the 19th to 31st the 9th and 14th I just look forward to seeing everybody and I'll play that everybody is well and will be well and we'll see you guys soon. You bet okay thank you mayor always always thank you talk to you we'll talk again next month. Okay thank you thank you everybody. You too sir bye.
