[Music] Hello and welcome to The Ice Guy! This is the show that takes you into the world of the National Hockey League. Every game, every day, from a vending perspective. With pro sports handicappers Ian Cameron, Alex B. Smith, and various guests from the world of hockey and sports medicine. And now, here's your host, Ian Cameron. [Music] Welcome to The Ice Guy's 2024-2025 NHL season premiere edition of the show. We are back, welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. We are back, it is a brand new NHL season. Ian Cameron, as fucked up and crazy as ever, your favorite host back. Once again, Alex B. Smith, I can't believe it. Now, eight years doing this show and back again for another brand new season. And with us, a band that joined us on the show for the first time, middle of last year, and he has become a regular fixture twice a week here on The Ice Guy's show ever since. The man from Texas, Dallas Boy, as he's called by certain chat mongers, I guess you could say, Matt Robinson, back with us on Tuesdays and Thursdays, once again this season. Alex will start with you. Can't say obviously enough about how excited I am for the season to start tonight. Officially start. Never mind that saber's devil's nonsense. This is the real start of the season right here, get that shit out of here. This is opening night, in my opinion, Alex. Yeah, absolutely. Well, we can also say opening day now, too, because we do have an afternoon game for everybody to lead off with. But yeah, I mean, absolutely excited and just, you know, re-energized. You know, I mean, everybody who watched the show last summer probably knows just how miserable I was during the end of the playoff run. To have that time off and now to regroup and looking forward to what should be a very exciting, already interesting hockey season. I mean, this has been one of the more interesting off seasons, I think, you know, not a whole lot of movement. But the movement was significant and a lot of, of course, deals and different things getting done late into training camps and so forth. But here we are, the game's count now for real for everybody. All 32 teams with a fairly clean slate and getting ready to roll. Absolutely. Matt, I know you're excited for another season. Another chase for a Stanley Cup for your beloved Dallas Stars. After back-to-back conference finals, open the ending and the ending of the story. The final chapter, if you will, is a little bit different this year. But it's good to see you. Great haircut. How are you? Yeah, I'm good. Obviously, an exciting off season, as Alex mentioned. And I'm really excited for things to get started. I know tonight's officially, or today is officially the started in North America. But obviously, Ian and you and I talked offline on Saturday, had some good luck with Stefan Nason scoring the first goal of the season. I think it was plus 2,500. You hit me up right before puck drop. Decided to throw a little cash on that. Nothing big. But I mean, anytime you're getting a plus 2,500, even if it's a couple bucks, it's a good feeling. So, hoping that's a sign for a great year to come. Yeah, obviously, another year that Dallas is one of the teams in the mix. You know, a lock-in change between now and the end of the season though. So hopefully they get off to a good start. But three big games tonight on national TV on ESPN here in the US. And so, you know, very excited for that. And as Alex mentioned, it's an early start time. So out for anyone out here on the West Coast, I think 130 is the first puck drop. And then the last game, I think, is at seven. So, you know, you got a good window of non-stop hockey. So can't beat that. You sure do. We're going to get to the three games coming up again. ESPN triple header. This is what they did last year as well, the first night of the season on a Tuesday. So we will get to those games in a moment. But before we do that, because Matt was not with us on any of our season preview shows that we did last week. And still check those out if you haven't. We did the Eastern Conference and Western Conference season preview shows last week. You don't have to go through anything and everything, Matt, that you have bet as far as futures and season-long player props. But if there's anything that you bet for futures or season-long player props or season-point totals for teams, let us know what you got. Yeah. So I didn't put too much down futures-wise. I know I was on the show after free agency when we talked about Stanley Cup winners. And as I mentioned, the top eight to 10 teams, I feel like all out of legit shot. But there wasn't a lot of stretch teams this year. There's obviously some teams that I think will be exciting. I know a couple of these are things that you have, but a couple notable things. I'll start out with the stars and get the bias right out of the gate, but I do have other props as well. Homer, here we go already from the chat, I'm sure. I think the point for me is the why Johnston over point total. I think he's due for a big year. I think he's going to be playing with the big guns this year. He had success with Ben and Stankovin and bouncing around lines, filling in for Podelsky, but I think giving him that first sign role, he already plays a lot of minutes. I think there's no doubt that he has the potential to get over on those points. And then I didn't take it, but I mentioned, I mentioned, I think, on the free agency show, if you think Dallas is legit and I know much more than half the chat is not, I think they're going to commit and say, Dallas sucks. We'll see how long it takes for the season and me being on the show for them to get to that point. But if you do think Dallas is legit and has a chance to have a great regular season when the president's trophy, I think Pete, as the Jack Adams award is something worth a look, because he's not one of those top two or three favorites, but I think if Dallas is a dominant regular season, I think that's worth a look as well. And then same thing with Andra, if you think he has a great season, he's in a contract year, he's going to want to play well. Andra as a Bezna trophy winner could be something worth looking at. A couple other plays I have that were obviously not Dallas stars. I have a little money on Josh Jones. It's when Ricky of the Year, I think that's worth a look. You know, we'll talk about Bryce if it hits. I'll tell you that right now. Yeah. And he will talk about him more tonight on the show about his game tonight. But with that also, I've got Utah making the playoffs. I think they're going to, you know, be one of those wildcard teams. I don't see him being a real contender this year, but I think they win some games. So that's really all I've got preseason. I'm trying to think if there's anything else. I'll throw in the chat if anything else comes to mind that I threw in early, but I think that's really it. I tried to keep it pretty light as I'm expecting a pretty competitive beginning of the season and we'll see how some teams kind of play out. No doubt. Great, great analysis there and breaking down specifically the Dallas stars and futures of interest that Matt likes for them. Before we get into the games, we have some big personal news here. I see in the chat. Melissa Cunningham is now the mother of a beautiful baby girl. It seems like and just delivered yesterday. That is awesome news. Congratulations. That's absolutely outstanding. I know you are concerned when we filmed the Pittsburgh Penguins season preview video with you a couple weeks ago. If you'd be able to be part of it, you know, hoping the baby would hold off until we recorded that Pittsburgh Penguins season preview video. Sure enough, she did, but she has been delivered and now sleeping peacefully. That is awesome. Melissa, congratulations. Congratulations. The entire family. Mama times two now for Melissa. One of our favorites here, of course, on the ice guys show. Melissa have another baby and then Goose is going to be expecting to have be a grandparent this fall or late this fall in the winter. So definitely want to mention that we have baby merch available at iceguys.maspretch.com for those who are expecting to have some financial gain for us. Yeah. Got to get the ad done. We got to do it. We got to do it. Turning someone's beautiful personal moment into how can we make money off this? No, congrats. Hey, you're talking a bunch of fucking bettors. What do you expect right here? All right. Anyway, shout out to everyone in the chat right here. It is great to see all the familiar names. So many of them. I mean, Dan Handsome, Tim York, of course, Goose. That was great. Stop Goose with Jay Rosehill at you and me and Alex for the leaf preview. Good stuff. Glad we could make that happen. This is Bailey. Good to see you again in the chat. There's a familiar face. Justin Casey, Tom Leach, Jerrick Ruble, of course, who joined us for the Black Ox video. The next biggest broadcasting star. We're just waiting for his shot. Hopefully he gets one, but Jerrick, a broadcaster in the making, in my opinion, if I had a choice, certainly I would make it happen for him. Robert Nick, Rich H, of course, from Vancouver. Rich H was part of our season preview videos for the Vancouver Canucks. It was me, Rich H, and Eddie Lach. It's supposed to be Alex B Smith too, but that's another story. Aaron Bruins fan, of course. And Aaron's joined us for a lot of the bet casts throughout the course of the season. Max Freely, Kyle Hintley, and another Boston man, Boston Bruins fan. Claudio, yes, we will have best bets again this year for the show, and yes, we will list. We'll try to list the records this year. I mean, people, if they want to keep tracking them, they can because they're posted every day, but we'll try to do that. We're going to look on having a tracking system, but I'm actually kind of working on it today. Yeah, exactly. It's something that we can just do to be easier for us to track. And of course, best bets, and of course, we'll have the full card. And that's another thing about Patreon. We'll talk more about Patreon later in the show, but the full betting card will be there each and every day. So make sure you check that out. patreon.com slash ice guys, ice x, of course, one of our favorites, Jose F K P, goryon nin Kovsky, preach, I think a new name there, but great to see you. We always welcome in new fans, new viewers, new listeners, Grant, Josh Lucero, of course, abs fan, Bruski. He was on, I think, one of Evan McLaren. Sorry, we were so rough on your penguins, Evan. Even Melissa was giving them shit. She's a penguins fan. So, you know, it's definitely nothing personal. We're just trying to be honest. And yeah, not a big fan of what the penguins are doing right now. Well, this year, I mean, long term, obviously, they're going to try to build the system. But yeah, issues. Ryan Robinson, little Maddie Robinson, as we call him, Ryan Robinson, in the chat stuff there. Shay Walker from Nashville, who brought his little kid with him on the back one time last year. Great to see you back in the chat. Vito Garcia from Texas. Hal L. Ergo. Ski's picks. My goodness. Real deal prime. There we go, Mr. Savers with the Rick Generat. Savers can do no wrong in his eyes, but we love him having him here in the chat with the Rick Generat. And I love the Rick Generat display pick though. Rest in peace, Rick made me a saver fan growing up. Jeffrey Lara, Seabills distance. And we just wanted it. Russell Deck, we just wanted to shut out everybody in the chat. I'm going to try to do more of that this year, more chat interaction on the show. A lot of the time. Yeah, I'm seeing the comments, and I'm not really saying a whole lot about it, but definitely we're going to be interacting more with the chat. We appreciate it. All right, let's get our handicapper hats on for the first time this year. We got some games to preview, and we will begin with the first game of today's triple header on ESPN. An afternoon affair, 430 Eastern, 130 p.m. Pacific locally in Seattle. We got the St. Louis Blues and the Seattle Kraken, Seattle minus 155 home favorites. Note the total six after it was five and a half for the majority of the off season. It has moved up a half goal. Pretty much across the board here for this one. When you start with the St. Louis Blues, obviously Drew Bannister gets a full training camp with this team after being a mid-season replacement last year, replacing Craig Barubay as the head coach of the Blues. That's usually a benefit for a team when they get that first training camp, obviously in with the coach. You look at this St. Louis Blues roster, and I think we hinted at this in the Blues season preview video that me and Alex did. We think they're going to be able to score goals. We think offensively, they're going to be capable because you look at what this lineup has with Robert Thomas, Jake Neighbors, who had a terrific season, kind of a breakout year for him last year, going to be on the top line, certainly going to get lots of opportunity. You bring in an Alex Tessier, who at times with Columbus has flashed at the offensive end of the ice, Pavel Booch-Navech, Jordan Kyrieu. You add in a Dylan Holloway, who is going to get a top six look right off the hop for this St. Louis Blues team after signing him to that offer sheet from the Edmonton Oilers, an offer sheet that the Oilers did not match. And then you look down, even at the third line, has Matthew Joseph, Kaspari Captain, and Braden Shen's kind of filtered down to that third line center spot. That's a solid two-way line, in my opinion, but even Shen's someone that can pop offensively at times. And then you've got Torrop Chanko, who's someone that stepped up and put the puck in the net later in the year, got better as the season went on last year with Nathan Walker. And someone Matt Robinson knows very well, Radik Foxa coming in here as the fourth-line center now for this St. Louis Blues team. The blue line is where there's more concerns, big-time concerns. Tory Krug, we don't even know if he's going to play again. Nevermind IR and Odin definitely. We don't know if he's going to play again at this point of his career. And we saw just the dejection and the emotion when he had to have that press conference following the announcement that he'd be out long-term. And certainly, that's just a blow because he's still, I think, one of the better defenseman on this team, even though he's now in his 30s, and he's had some injury setbacks. So it's disappointing for the Blues to not have him. And now there's some more questions. Here's what we know. We know Nick Lettie and Colton Pareco are going to be their top pair. And Pareco we like. Lettie we like, although I worry about tread on the tires showing up a bit for Nick Lettie. It's a guy that's now going to be asked to play on top pair, big minutes. And this is a guy that's played a lot of hockey, a lot of years. And he's now entering this season at the age of 33. You know, are you going to be able to count on him for health? Are you going to be able to count on him for not only heavy minutes, but he's going to have to defend the best players best forwards on the other team. Is he going to be up for that challenge? Is going to be the big question you have. You have Philip Broberg, the other player that they signed with the offer sheet from Edmonton to go with Justin Falk, who again, you know, I think defensively at times kind of saw his game regress a little bit last year. We know he's a good puck mover, gets the puck moving up the ice transition wise, but still some questions about the defensive side. And then in the bottom pair, you've got Ryan Souter, who I know a lot of Dallas Stars fans are happy that they moved on from him after that, especially the way it went for him in times in that Edmonton series in the West final. He's on the bottom pair, the third pair with Matt Kessel, who's just a young guy who's barely played a handful of games, you know, in the National Hockey League. In fact, how about 39 games last year with the Blues, 41 altogether in his NHL career, but not a full season yet for Matt Kessel. So you got set, definitely a lot of question marks on that blue line. Certainly, I grade out the Blues as stronger up front, weaker on the back end to begin the season, and I've obviously Jordan, Bennington and Joel Hofer remain your goal tenders. We expect Bennington to get this opening night start, although the goalies for either side haven't been confirmed. Flip it around to Seattle and new head coach and Dan Bilesma history in this game with Jessica Campbell, first game in the NHL for her as an assistant coach. First time in an NHL game, there'll be a woman behind the bench and it's a great site. She's deserving of it. She knows what she's doing. She did a great job with the Coachella Valley power play. When she was there under Bilesma in the AHL, she's been in hockey for most of her life. So this is not a token gender higher, DEI, whatever the fuck that term is. This is someone that's, this is someone that's earned at 100% for the Seattle crack. And so congrats to Jessica. I'm sure she'll do a great job. And then you look at the crack in and up front, they have some weapons. You know, Jared McCann, Maddy Beniers, who I said on the Seattle preview, I think he's going to have a bounce back here. I like some Maddy Beniers season long props. Jordan Eberly, Jaden Schwartz, Chandler Stevenson, Andre Burakovsky. You know, that's some talent up there that can put the puck in the net. I love the addition of Chandler Stevenson. No doubt to be that second line center for the crack. And then you look at the fourth, third and the fourth line. Don't sleep on Ellie Tolfin and Oliver Bjorkstrand and Shane Wright, who we know came on like a freight train last year, Shane Wright, when he got that latest opportunity. No question about that. And then you've got a very good fourth line. You've got some bangers, some crashers, some mashers, some forecheckers, some guys that are going to throw the weight around, really try to frustrate the opponent with Yanni Gord and Brandon Tanev, and then Ty Cartier with them, who's got a little bit of offensive punch. So I like the look of the forward group, the blue line, Vince Dunn, Adam Larson, we know Vince Dunn has had a breakout to his career here in Seattle without a doubt, especially the offensive side of things, puck movement, shoot, his shot, the power play, the playmaking, all that. He's really seen his game grow. Adam Larson, Jamie Alexiak with Brandon Montour. I've always said, I like a rugged physical tough stay at home defenseman with more of a guy that can skate and lug the puck and be more the offensive minded player. And you've got that with the Alexiak and Brandon Montour pairing. And of course, that was a solid signing from Florida in the off season. You get that Stanley Cup experience, too, that Brandon Montour brings. Riker Evans, they have high hopes for him with Will Borgen on the third pair and looking at a Philip Grubauer, Joey Decord, pairing and net. This is a very interesting game. Two teams, I think they have the potential to surprise people. I'm a little personally higher on Seattle coming into the year than St. Louis. I think with Alex, it might be a little bit of the opposite. But I think when you look at this, it's a very interesting game. I did grab Seattle overnight at -140, a small bet, just very small. It's gone up since then, just like the situation of new head coach, home opener, you know, for Seattle to get it done. The bet that I really like, and unfortunately, it's the bet where we've mentioned it a few weeks ago with the Kraken preview. And I mentioned it because I figured we wouldn't see five and a half when this game, with game day arrived, opening night. And that's exactly what we've seen here. The total move up to six. I already bet over five and a half minus 125 weeks ago. Obviously, that ship has sailed. You can still find over five and a half minus 140 at points bet. A couple other books have over five and a half as well, still juiced to minus 140. Apparently, is that true? He's a late scratch. Someone saying about McCann, I'm going to have to get that checked. I haven't seen anything, but we'll double check. I think McCann's good to go, for at least from what I saw it. But either way, I like over five and a half. If you can find a five and a half grade, if you can find if it's just six, I'd still play it at six. Here's why I like the over. Seattle is going to play off tempo this year. We know they're going to push the pace a little bit more. Dan Balsma is going to go kind of let this team let the horses out of the stable. The blue line, but the defenseman want to pinch at the blue line. They're going to have the cart, the green light to do that. He definitely wants more of a pace, offensive-minded system where creativity can flourish. I'm not saying Dan, sorry, Dave Hachstall thwarted that kind of thought process, but there were times when it was just a little too, not very creative, not really letting this team go offensively. Dan Balsma is going to be the opposite. I think you're going to see that right away here. Look at the way his Coachella Valley team played. The farm team for this Seattle Kraken franchise last year. Up tempo, very, very explosive. Always a team that could score four or five goals on a nightly basis. I think there's going to be nights you see Seattle pop for four or five goals playing a little bit more of a free-wheeling. Not saying they're going to be lacking responsibility defensively, but they're definitely going to be more aggressive offensively for sure. I like over five and a half, six. I would still go with it. Like I said, I have a smaller bet on the Kraken on the money line here as well. Alex, first game, St. Louis, Seattle. Yeah, like I said, we did talk about this game when we did both season previews. It was kind of because we figured that line would move with the total five and a half were widely available for months, which is so bizarre. This is a bet I actually made. I think it was August 11th or August 10th. So obviously at six now, I would say wait, live bet it. That's the approach I'll be taking with the first period over as well. I'm not betting that pregame. Even at one 30, one 35, that's a fine price to lay pregame. But I'm going to just wait. I'll be watching the game. I can try and get the plus money. It's good to sharpen the sword that way too, just looking at some spots and getting your timing down with live betting, especially when we're doing it at a volume like we are. So that's the way I'm approaching as far as the totals go. Side wise, except I think we see a lot of goals from Seattle this year. We touched on the hiring of Balsma and bringing up Jessica Campbell back-to-back Western Conference champions in the AHL with Coachella Valley and that team, they were a running gun kind of a team. They can get that kind of situated and settled in Seattle. This would be something that we can watch where we can look for team totals. So I would be leaning more toward a team total over with Seattle rather than looking at laying 140, 145, 150, especially if they started winning early and they started becoming more of a favorite. That's the way to kind of attack in a first slot. Nothing on the side in this game, just staying with the total over five and a half. If you still can find one that's under $1.35, $1.30, I know some of these Canadian books will have kind of off numbers you can pick off. I would recommend that. Otherwise, I'm seeing a 140 at Fandoor. Just wait for that juice to come down to around $1.20 or even $1.10 and grab that live. Also grab the first period over live. By point there is about $1.15 or cheaper. So that's the only things I got for Seattle. I do have a bargain bin play coming up in this contest. I'll be talking about it a little bit later. Yeah, we do think there could be some offense, some goals. It's a good player prop game and for me, there's a bunch. There's really a bunch that stand out. So I'm just going to rhyme some off. And by the way, I want to point out the tip of the cap to ESPN's Ray Ferraro. He's going to be calling two games today for ESPN. He's going to have St. Louis Seattle with Mike Monaco and then they're flying him to Utah right after the Seattle game and he'll be there for the Blackhawks and the Utah Hockey Club. First game in Utah and a work-back game with Bob Wishesen. How about that? For Ray Ferraro. Two games for him today. Good stuff. And Sean McDonough normally works with Ray, but so that Ray could do the two games. They split them up. Ryan Callahan auto parts will be with Sean McDonough for the Bruins and the Panthers game as well. So that's what we're looking at. As far as the props in this game, there's a lot to like. I like Chandler Stevenson in the Scracking debut. I see that price staring at me at +425. I think that's worth a look. Very good price. There's a lot of really good big plus prices with great value and great opportunity given where some of these players are going to be in the lineup here going into this game tonight. Matty Beniers at +340's worth a look. And the one that stands out the most for me for the St. Louis Blues because I'm seeing upwards of +550 on him at Bet Victor. Giving that opportunity right away on the top line with Robert Thomas and Jake Neighbors. It's Dylan Holloway. Holloway. Celebrate. If we bet on Holloway. Take some time to celebrate. Dylan Holloway, man, is finally going to get a real opportunity with St. Louis that he was rarely afforded with Edmonton to be on the top line right off the shoot. Drew Banister put them there with Jake. Won't you be my neighbor? And of course Robert Thomas. And I'm seeing +550 at Bet Victor. I'm seeing +500 at Van Dual +475 at points Bet +450 at DraftKings. So shop around. You've got an absolutely outstanding price for a guy that's chomping at the bit to make an impact. Who's got skill, who's got speed. We saw it on full display in the playoffs when I thought he played very well for that Euler's team. That is absolutely incredible value for Dylan Holloway here playing with Thomas and Neighbors on that top line for the St. Louis Blues. So those are my three favorites on the blues side of the equation. They're actually Chandler Stevenson's for Seattle, but for the blues, Dylan Holloway can't go wrong with Neighbors either. We cashed a lot of gold props with him last year. You're not getting the good prices. The bargain been prices anymore with them, but still +275. Still pretty good for someone that put the puck in the net with regularity down the stretch last year. But the big bang, if you will, bargain here with the St. Louis team today to me is Dylan Holloway. You can get him a +550, like I said, at Bet Victor and still north of +500 in a lot of spots here in this game today. You flip it around. Torp Chanko may be a small sprinkle as well, just because of what he did down the stretch, although he's only on the fourth line. I don't like that one nearly as much. And then for Seattle, I mentioned Stevenson, Matty Beniers, I think is going to have a bounce back year. I think +340 for him's worth a look. You can never go wrong with McCann, but the ones that stand out to me are that third line. You can get great prices with those three players on the third line for Seattle. You can get Bjork Strand at +390. I think they're going to be an underrated offensive group, that trio. +550 for Ellie Tolven. And then the one I really like on that third line is Shane Wright upwards of +420 in some spots. Although it's dropped a bit, +310, +340, still a very good price to bet Shane Wright as far as scoring a goal as well. Someone that I think we saw what he did last year with the Kraken down the stretch. I think now that he's made the Seattle team out of training camp, I think he's going to have a great year. I really do. I think his trajectory has took him a while. Sometimes you've got to be patient, even though you have high hopes for someone you draft, high in the first round. They were patient, they let him develop in the American Hockey League. He got called up late last year. He was a different Shane Wright. I think Shane Wright's going to have a very solid year here for the Seattle Kraken. So I like that one as well. Yeah, Percy, it's hard to bet everybody, but Tessier is not the worst idea in the world either. And again, you're going to get Tessier here for St. Louis on the second line. So he's going to be on the top six role. He's going to have opportunity. So I don't mind taking a shot with him either to score a goal. Looks like Tessier is around. Let me see what the price is here. I'll get it in a moment for you. Matt, we'll go to you. What do you like here, St. Louis Seattle? Yeah, so I'm going to keep it pretty simple. That'll probably be the theme for this first week or so as I sort of feel out of teams and things like that. I did jump on the over by effect last night. I got in at five and a half. I think it was like minus one 15 120 something like that. So pretty good price for five and a half. And then, you know, first period over. Completely honest. I it's more a I'm open for an exciting first period in the first, you know, North American game here. So that's more of a bet with the heart, you know, just see what happens. Hopefully there's a couple of quick goals. But I do think, you know, both of these teams can score. As far as player props, all I'm really looking at in this game is a Matty Benier's anytime point. It's like even money. You know, he's their top line center. He's on their first power play unit. I think if Seattle gets two or three goals tonight, I'd be shocked if he's not at least involved in one of the three. So that'll probably be my only prop. Again, I like to kind of go light on player props early in the season, just because there'll be guys that, you know, you can get good value that'll get hot early. But I just like to see kind of how teams are playing guys, you know, how different lines are playing. I saw someone in the chat mentioned, you know, Seattle is going to roll three lines most of the game. You know, we'll see if that's the case, things like that. So kind of like to get a feel for it before I do too many props. So those will probably be the only three bets I have on this pregame. All right. Nothing wrong with that. It's nice to see someone scales back. You know, can all be like I said, heavy volume right off the hop. But that's just my, that's just been me for years. You know, we're always ready to fire away right from the get go. But I agree with that. I understand that part of it. So sometimes you don't always know which players are ready to be at their best, you know, right off the hop immediately. There's no doubt something to keep in mind there. Yeah, I just want to mention big part of my season long player prop betting, as most of you guys know, from the preview videos and the season preview shows we did, was looking at those players that are UFA's next year. RFA's too, but especially UFA's because UFA means they're really playing for the big money. And for the St. Louis Blues, you don't have too many that are in a UFA scenario for them other than Kaspari Kapanen, some of their depth forwards, not too many. And then you've got for Seattle, as far as a UFA's going into next year, Gord Tannev looks like John Hayden, you know, depth players. So it's not really one of those games where you've got a ton of options here for betting on players that are going to be those UFA's coming into the season. So there is a couple in this next game though that fit that mold. And this is the second game of the triple header, Boston, Florida. We've got the Florida Panthers, minus 150 home favorites, six the total here in this game. The big news for Boston coming into their opener tonight against the Panthers. Of course, there's a playoff rematch of the second round. Panthers knocked out the Bruins. It'll be a banner night for the Florida Panthers raising the Stanley Cup championship banner. I'll be honest, I like the obviously the Florida Panthers and the NHL social media accounts really went to town posting the images of the Florida Panthers Stanley Cup championship rings. Actually, they look pretty good. I got admit, I thought they were solid. Nice design. It's pretty cool. A lot of bling bling, obviously, with those rings. And like I said, I was impressed with how good they look. No doubt about that. As far as this game goes, look, Bruins, they got Jeremy Swamans deal done last minute, just a few days before their season opener just after training camp ended. But finally, the deal got done. And he is a Boston Bruin for the next eight years, $66 million contract for Jeremy Swamans. But we pretty much figured without training camp, not participating, not really taking the ice, not playing in any preseason action, pretty much figured that Jim Montgomery was going to be cautious with Jeremy Swamans and not start him tonight. And that is indeed the case. It will not be Jeremy Swamans. It will be Jonas Corpusallo brought in, of course, from the Ottawa senators to be the starting goaltender. Now, here's the thing about Corpusallo. Was he not good last year with Ottawa? Absolutely. He wasn't. He obviously struggled mightily last year. He does have a better blue line in front of him here. And we'll see if that can make an impact and help get him turned around a little bit because quite honestly, 890 state percentage, 3.27 goals against average last year from Jonas Corpusallo, just not good enough. He's going to have to be better than that here. No question. You flip it around and you look at Boston up front, you know, you've got Pavel Zaka, who's been a nice fit for this team. You bring in Elias Lindholm to center the top line, posture knock, of course, on the right side. Brad Marshon, Charlie Coyle, Morgan Giki, the second line. Charlie Coyle's got to bring it offensively. He's capable of it. We don't always see it. And now if you're going to be second line center, I know he had 60 points last year. I believe it was a career high. It was a step in the right direction. 25 goals last year as well. I'd like to see him hit 30 and maybe even more than 60 points this year, more than 30 goals, more than 60 points. Your second line center now, at least to begin the year. Let's see if he can up the ante as far as offensive production is concerned. You got Max Jones, Trent Frederick, Justin Brazo on the third line, John Beecher, Mark Castelich, and Cole Kepke. You're a fourth line here for the Boston Bruins. The concern I have for that fourth bottom six is where's the goals coming from? I don't see a lot of proven offensive talent there in that bottom six for the Boston Bruins. Blue line solid. I mean Lindholm, McAvoy, Mason Lowe, Ra, Mason Lowride, Brandon Carlo. And on the second pair, you bring in Nikita Zadoraov. I'll keep refraining from calling him Big Z. He does not want to be called that because he kind of looks at that as a comparison to Chara, the legendary former Bruins. So Nikita Zadoraov and Andrew Peake. Andrew Peake played well, actually, for the Bruins after they got him from Columbus. And of course, Swamin' and that. For the Florida Panthers, they bring back a solid contingent from last year Stanley Cup championship team. But they do lose a couple guys like you don't have Brandon Montour anymore on the blue line. You don't have all of her loss of Dossam, Ekman Larsen anymore on the blue line. So there's some changes back there. That's the biggest, I think, question with Florida, right guys? I mean, Forzling and Ekblad, we like it. Mikalun Kulakov from last year's team. That's fine. That third pair though, Belatby and Ubus, but Balinskis, and Adam Bocquist, and an aging Nate Schmidt is your extra defenseman. That's where the questions are for Florida. Do they have the depth on the blue line they had last year? At this point, the answer for me is no. They don't. But that doesn't mean that third pair can't develop into a solid pair up front. You have Carter Verhage, Alexander Barkov, Sam Reinhardt. That should be a phenomenal top line. No issues there. Evan Rodriguez who stepped his game up in the playoffs last year was even better in the postseason than he was in the regular season with Sam Bennett and Matthew Kuchak. E-2, Cool Mint, Loose, Toreenan, Anton Lindell, who are two guys that I thought stepped their game up two postseason-wise. And they're going to give this young kid a shot here out of training camp has made the team Mackie. Samiskiewicz is going to make the team. And this is a guy that got into seven games last year. It's a guy that's produced at the AHL level. 54 points in 62 games with Charlotte last year, but didn't score in seven games when he got called up to the Panthers last year. But he's now going to get a start right from the beginning of the year. So Mackie Samiskiewicz is going to be someone to keep an eye on. And then you've got Jonah Gajevich for a little muscle. Yes, for both Quist and AJ Greer who he can be a thorn in your side too. That guy, AJ Greer plays a very hard heavy game as well. So that's going to be a nasty fourth line to play against. So up front, I think they're fine. I still like the top four on the blue line. I do have some more questions about the bottom pair. You don't have questions in net. At least we don't think so with Sir Gabe Abrovsky. He was outstanding. Unlike two years ago, Alex, as you know, of course, Alex, I would say our goalie expert of our crew here. Sir Gabe Abrovsky didn't have a great regular season two years ago. And then it was in the playoffs when they went to the final against Vegas, where he turned it on and looked like a different from Brovsky. Last year, start to finish. He was awesome. Regular season. He was great. He was solid. And he was just terrific in the playoffs as well. So I don't have too many issues with the Brovsky. I know another year. A lot of games last year. Maybe that it was shows up at times, but I don't know. It's hard to doubt him after the form we saw start to finish last year. So look, I sprinkled on Florida in team total here over three just for a little protection over three at minus 140 at Bet Rivers is what I got. And I like that. Bet Rivers is offering half goal increments with the team totals this year. So I just felt a little safer with three instead of three and a half with Florida team total. I'm taking my chances with over three team total with Florida against Jonas Corpisolo, even with a better blue line in front of them. You know, I've got to see it from Jonas Corpisolo first. And it hasn't been the automatic, at least it doesn't feel that way. Maybe Alex can correct me, but it doesn't feel like it's been the auto bet against the team raising the banner on home ice that it's been in the past. I don't think it's been that automatic that what we got to bet against the team raising the banner on opening night at home. I think we've seen some instances where that home team raising the banner is still one and still gotten the job done. So like I said, Panthers for me, I've got to prepost it out for the first time. There we go. Florida Panthers team total over three minus one 40 Alex, Bruins Panthers. Yeah, like I said, that is kind of an it's becoming a bit more antiquated the look of fading the the champ at home for the banner ceremony night. Like said, you know, these guys kind of go through. Now when you look at the NHL and you'll see this to all of you over the next week, week and a half when they start these new seasons, you know, everybody skates out. There's a long ceremony. Everything's 20, 25 minutes. So so every team has to kind of go through a ceremony at the beginning of the year. The championship one doesn't necessarily of course, some will go longer than say your standard retino season opener, but you still have guys waiting around 20 minutes extra kind of getting out of their routine. You see them nervously shaking around skating about before the game starts. So everybody kind of has a basic plate with that. So that's not something I factor to have you in the handicap. Like I would say eight, nine years ago, and that was kind of something we would automatically just bet, especially if it was a dog situation for the visitor in this game. You can throw that out. These are two teams that don't like each other. Two teams that have deep playoff history. And the fact that it's Boston being in that barn, watching that banner go up, knowing how two years ago with Florida that ruined their chances of having a banner run. I think that's going to fire them up a bit more. I think we get a back and forth game. I think we get a chippy game. I think this plays like a playoff game. So this is my first draw the year. I got to draw plus three 10, a little bit cheaper a little bit. That's not our price range. We like to stay within three plus two hundred higher when it comes to draw plays. But three 10s about fair, continuing the situation with these two teams. Like I said, very defensive minded. You know Corpusau is going to want to have a good night. You know that defense is going to want to play well in front of him because of all the talk with Swamin. That's the last thing you want him to get lit up or shelved. And all of a sudden Swamin has to come in cold or just the fact that you have this talk of, well, thank God you're signed Swamin because Corpusau can't do shit. You don't want to have that night one. So I think they're going to play well defensively, like you said, Babrowski. The last calendar year of his career has been phenomenal. The absolute best we've seen. Two cup appearances, a cup win. But before that, you know, he was just a middling goalie. And we were all talking about how his $10 million contract was an albatross. Now all of a sudden revisionist history kicks in and he's the top five goal tenant. So I don't know about that. But he's good enough to rely on tonight in this game. I think they keep it close. We will see goals. I think this game does end up going over, but it's going to be a little bit of a sweat for your betting with that team total because I like three, three correct score, 60 minutes at plus 1300 a fan duel to go along with that draw. Like I said, I'm seeing as high as 350 360s for shop around. I did get that 310 at bed online when I woke up this morning. So I should have just shopped around and got a better price of fandall. But draw correct score three three plus 1300. Those are my two best. All right, going for some big plus money with both of those, obviously the draw. One of our favorites draw season never sleeps here at the ice guys show if you're a new viewer and listener, you will find that out very quickly. We'll have a bunch of draws throughout the course of the season. So you had draw it over plus 300. What was that plus 340? Well, 350 at fandall. That's right. That's still pretty good. And correct score at 13 to one of three three after a regulation. So there we go. I'll get to player props in a minute. Matt, what do you think here? This is this probably the game of the night on paper just because of the history with these two teams, Bruins and Panthers. They played each other in the playoffs two straight years. Should be a great, great that I'm glad they put this these two teams on opening night. Great job. Making that part of the ESPN drive back to here on opening night. Matt, what do you think here? Bruins, Panthers. Yeah, I'm hoping Alex, both his bets come to fruition because I'm on the over by fact, and Florida team total over three and a half, which can hit if they win an overtime. And obviously three three would be great for the overs. You know, I think every year after a team wins a cup, they talk about, you know, are they going to have a hangover year, be a little slower, be a little tired. And obviously Florida went to the cup back to back years. They finally got the win. I do think they'll have some hiccups and some hangover this year, but I don't think it'll happen tonight. I think tonight, you know, first came back against Boston opening night of the NHL. You know, I think they'll be buzzing. So that's why I like the Florida team total over three and a half. But I do expect some goals coming out of Boston as well. So really just open for a lot of goals here. You know, I hope for Alex's bet that that would work perfect for me. So maybe one one after the first three three after the third and then Florida gets it done in overtime. So we both get everything we want here. So that's what that's what I'll be hoping for. But yeah, I'm excited for this one. Again, I'm excited for all three games for various reasons, but this is probably, you know, the game, I guess maybe with the two most contenders right out of the gate, things like that. So it should be an exciting game down in Florida. I can state different reasons why I'm most looking forward to each of the three games. When it comes to Seattle, St. Louis, fresh look with both of those teams. And so I'm excited to see it with this game. I mean, as far as the quality of the matchup, this is probably at Boston and Florida and with that playoff history and the intensity and the dislike, that's what makes me most excited about this game. And obviously, when it comes to the next game, Chicago, Utah, it's the atmosphere, okay, in the environment that I'm excited about, especially seeing the first NHL game in Utah and Salt Lake City tonight. So there's definitely a valid reason that I have for liking really all three of these games tonight in some form. As far as player props here, not as many as the last game, because I don't think there's going to be quite as many goals in this game as the last game, even though, like I said, and that the one thing that does concern me about that Panthers team total, even though I like it and I'm on it, is that I even though I got my questions with Corpusolo, is this a dig in type of night for the Boston defense in front of him to help him out and get him a win and make him feel confident, comfortable in the net, maybe a little extra extra attention to detail, maybe you block a few more shots than you normally would, and do all those little things to help your goal tender out. That's going to be something to watch as this game goes on. But as far as player props, I'm going Brad Marshawn. And Brad Marshawn made my report as far as season-long goals and points. He isn't a contract here. He is. Now, and he's 36. How much money is he going to get? It's a question, but you're definitely going to cost yourself more money if you don't have a productive year. And I think Brad Marshawn is going to be fired up to do that this year for the Boston Bruins, playing for that new deal in the off-season. So Brad Marshawn, goal and an assist, I think, worth a look. As well. Pavel Zaka, we talked about him last year for Boston. Up on the top line, there's still great value there with Zaka, even though he's now playing with, like I said, the top line with Posternock, as well as Lindholm, of course, the new member of the Boston Bruins. And you can get upwards of plus 400 on Zaka. Think about that. Plus 400. He's the left wing top line player. Kind of like what we talked about with Holloway for St. Louis in the last game. How are you pricing these guys? Plus 400, plus 550 with Holloway, and he's playing on the top line to start the season for St. Louis. And here we are, plus 400 here with Pavel Zaka. So take advantage of these prices. They're not all going to hit. You know, Zaka may not score. Holloway may not score, but my goodness, you can't pass up betting it at a price like that. They're considering where they are on that top line. There's no question. For Florida, here's another guy that's in a contract year, Carter Verhage. It was Sam Reinhardt last year. Maybe this is Carter Verhage's year, guys, to go 40, 50 goals. I have that big explosion for the Florida Panthers this year. He's playing for a big money contract. And I believe Carter Verhage is only making like two million right now. Like he's dirt cheap right now. You think he and he knows he's definitely a player that is worth a hell of a lot more at this point in time coming off the year he had last year. He's worth a lot more than two million. There's no doubt he is going to be chopping at the bit here to have a big year playing for that big contract as a UFA in the off season coming off of 72 point season 34 goals last year. Down a bit from the 42 he had the year before, but I think this is a year where we see up, you know, Carter Verhage, you really have a big year, like I said, playing for that new deal. So again, the price is not great, plus 190, but I still like it given the situation that he's in, I think, to have a big offensive here. Rodriguez worth a look. You know, we talked about how good he was. And I'm going to do a little sprinkle on Mackie for the Florida Panthers in his first regular season game with the team this year. Mackie Samaskiewicz, who you can get upwards of plus 500 to score a goal tonight for the Panthers. He's got some offensive upside. We have not seen it at the NHL level because he played seven games with the Panthers last year late in the year didn't score, didn't even register a point. But there's a new year, new opportunity. If I like that he earned a spot on this team via training camp with the way he played. So that's why I'm taking a shot still with Mackie Samaskiewicz here in this one. All right, the final game for this triple header on this Tuesday opening night of the season. Chicago and Utah, as we well usher in the era of the Utah Hockey Club, and they will be known as the Utah Hockey Club this season, although I think the worst kept secret is that it's probably going to be the Utah Yeti starting next season and moving forward long term. But for now, for this first year, they are the Utah Hockey Club. It's pretty crazy how just they moved everything from Arizona to Utah. I mean, the same management, same coach, a lot of the same players, same broadcasters too. Matt McConnell is back. That's the play-by-play guy for the Utah Hockey Club, who was, of course, the play-by-play guy for the Coyotes all those years. And I think Tyson Nash is not the analyst, it's Dominic Moore, but they put him in the pregame or something, post-game studio or something like that. So he's still actually involved in the Utah broadcast. So it's like basically Arizona's completely transplanted to Utah in every way, and a lot of the parts are still the same. Utah minus 170, home favorite, Delta Center, six the total. I saw some of the preseason games. They don't have seating right behind the glass, in behind the net at both ends. I noticed that they don't have the seating there for the preseason. So again, it's not going to be quite the capacity you would see at some other venues, but the bottom line is for the Delta Center for Hockey, they'll pack the place tonight. They are excited. It is going to be an atmosphere that you can you imagine a guy like Clayton Keller, who's been there now for a long time, just named the captain of the Utah hockey club. Seeing this dead as a doornail atmosphere, years and years going back to he was back years along with the Coyotes going back to when they still played at Hila River, arena in Glendale. And then they went to that band box known as a mullet arena. It's great for Ryan Robinson and the Arizona State Sun Devils hockey team. It's not great for the NHL and the Arizona Coyotes. So to go from those atmospheres to this bigger environment, place is going to be packed. I mean, you can only imagine the excitement, especially the longer-tenured members of the then Arizona Coyotes, now Utah hockey club, just to be playing in an environment like this tonight. And Clayton Keller, you know, is the guy that stands out, which is why I'm not surprisingly, I like him in a goal prop tonight here in his debut as a captain here for the Utah hockey club. Look, just like we talked about with, I think, St. Louis, we like Utah offensively. We really like Utah offensively, hard not to, right, with what they've got up front. They should have no problem being able to score goals this season, the Utah hockey club. When you look at what they've got, you know, it starts with, of course, Keller, Schmaltz, Barrett, Hayden, that's going to be certainly top line that's going to be able to make things happen and be very, very dangerous offensively without question. They're going to be able to have probably a lot of success throughout the course of the season. And then you go on down, Logan Cooley gets talked about, and he had a solid year, but to me, he was outdone a little bit by Dylan Gunther. He's the one that stands out. I'm on Dylan Gunther, season-long props as well for the Utah hockey club here in this season. And Dylan Gunther, right away, we're going to hop on the goal prop for him tonight as well in this game. This is someone we cashed a lot of goal props with last year. Dylan Gunther, especially the latter part of the year, not as good the price this time around, plus 210, we're seeing that adjustment, but still like it enough to bet it. And then you got loss in Krauss, the veteran Alex Kerfoot, Matthias Bachelli, and then you've got Liam O'Brien, Kevin Stenland, and Josh Doane. Josh Doane on a fourth line. I mean, I get it. There's a lot of value. There's a lot of depth now up front. I don't know if Josh Doane's someone I'd want that low in my lineup because I think offense is his game, but it looks like he is going to be starting on that fourth line to begin the season here for Utah. They also have some decent options extra forwards, like they've got Michael Carcone, who's not dressing apparently tonight, but he's an extra forward. Nick Butch's dad's on IR, and of course, Kyler Yamamoto, who of course has been with Edmonton in Seattle, made the team off a PTO for this Utah squad. So and he's someone that can deliver offensively on occasion. So they do have some solid depth up front too. If there's any injuries, the blue line was the issue last year. Did they address it? Well, they did a good first step to address it, getting Michael Sergachev from the Tampa Bay Lightning. That's assuming Sergachev stays healthy because he has had some injury issues, but if he does, we know he's a still a upper tier defenseman in this league. Him and Sean Dursey could be an excellent pair. Yusso Valamaki was better as the season went on. Michael Kesselring, they like, they bring in the veterans like Robert Portuzo, John Marino's on IR to begin the year, but Ian Cole. It's a nice veteran edition. He needs some of that little grit, sandpaper, physicality. Keep an eye too on Blattislap, Coolia Chonok. There you go. That's a tough one to say, but he is someone they like. He's made the team. Not only made the team, he's going to be on the third pair. So keep an eye on whether he's able to make a big time impression right away for Andre Tuirini and Connor Ingram and Net, who fantastic last year's best season in the NHL bar nut, and he's confirmed as the starter tonight for this first game. And by the way, just also confirmed Peter Morazik for the Chicago Blackhawks. They're going to be able to score their blue lines better. Can Ingram duplicate what he did last year's the big question? Chicago, on the other side of the equation, there's no doubt you look at this roster on paper, better offensive lineup has to be. And while it has to be, they sucked offensively last year, has to be on paper better. It can't be worse. Connor Badard, Tevo Terravine, and you talk about someone that's going to have some value playing on that top line with Badard and Terravine. And how about you? You make a getting that opportunity. Toronto, Vancouver, previously in his career, now with Chicago playing on that top line with Badard and Terravine. And this is one of those deals where, you know, Badard's going to be priced, you know, the plus 150 plus 200 score. Terravine and is going to be in that range. And you're going to get something a whole lot better with Ilya McKayev to score a goal tonight. So definitely McKayev's got great goal prop value tonight in this game, which I like. I took it. Taylor Hall, Philip Curishev and Tyler Bertuzzi. Great to see Taylor Hall healthy again. You just pray to the heavens. And I'm sure Alex is as a Chicago fan. Bless Taylor Hall with health this year. Keep him because I think he could be a difference maker for this team without a doubt. Curishev. I'm waiting for him for consistency. Still waiting. Tyler Bertuzzi's great. Love the addition. Score some of those dirty, you know, goals in front of the net. Take a pounding, but deflections tip. That's another thing too. Get in front of the net. Tip the puck. Deflect the puck. Stay in that area right in front of the net. Make the goal is life miserable. Tyler Bertuzzi's going to do that. Chicago needed someone like that after last year. And Tyler Bertuzzi's the kind of guy that can deliver that for them. Tricky Nikki Folino, the only choice they could make as captain. It was the right choice for sure. Jason Dickinson, who's one of those guys who can just all of a sudden, he could go 10 games without scoring. And then he'll go six games and get you five or six goals and just go on this little heater short term. So Jason Dickinson on that third line centering it. Joey Anderson, then he got the big rig, Pat Maroon, along with Donato's pizza, Ryan Donato, and Craig Smith. I did see Craig Smith score, I believe in the preseason. So maybe some optimism for Craig Smith this year, even though we think maybe his best days are behind him, especially offensively. We'll see how that goes for him on the fourth line. And then on the blue line, Alec Martinez, veteran experience, Stanley Cup winner, Seth Jones. It's on Blasic, Alex Blasic. I like him. He got so much better last year. TJ Brody, I know it was a nightmare in Toronto season last year. Didn't play well, but he had some issues on the ice, family issues, medical concerns within his own family as well. You get away from that Toronto noise and media pressure. You'll probably be more comfortable, more relaxed. And it wouldn't shock me to see TJ Brody up a nice bounce back here. Nolan Allen and Connor Murphy rounding out the blue line. And look, we were all excited to see LaRompa del Sua be the guy in net this year for Chicago because he's earned it. He's been one of the better backup goalies the last two years, Vegas and Winnipeg. But unfortunately, the IR to start the year, which means we're stuck at Alex, especially with Peter Marasic and Arvid solder bloom to begin the year as the goalie duo for the Chicago Blackhawks. So there we go. I've pretty much said what the props I like. I like my KF for sure. Terrabine and two, I think on that top line, those are the ones I like the most for Chicago tonight in this maybe Bertuzzi two in his Blackhawk debut because I always think the player in the making the debut for a new team wants to show out and show up and make an impact. And last but not least, as far as sides and totals, this is one of those games where I've got multiple bets on Utah, but I'm going smaller with each, you know, to we don't want to put too much exposure on night one with one team. But what I'm looking at here with Utah, Utah first period puck line, that might be my favorite look, Utah minus a half plus 140, first period puck line, you got to believe that place is going to be bumping, come out of the gate, storm and take the play to Chicago, get the lead early, get that first goal, get that crowd into it, think you have a chance to see that. So I like the first period puck line here with the Utah hockey club minus a half plus 140. I split that with Utah team total over one plus 125 in the first period at bed MGM. And we thought this is an this is an approach I used quite a bit last year, first period puck line and a little first period team total, where if they score one goal only, okay, it's a push, we get our money back. But I think there's a chance they could break through for two goals in that opening period. So over one plus 125 with Utah's team total in the first period, little bit on the Utah full game team total over three minus 144 as well at that rivers and the full game over six. And I'm actually surprised this drop from six and a half to six a little bit, not totally shocked, but I'm a little bit surprised it dropped to six and you can get as low as minus 110 with it right now. I think this game does go over the total here with the black ox and Utah over six minus 110. Alex, your black ox starting another season and they are going to be the intruders here on the first night of hot NHL hockey in Salt Lake City, Utah. What do you think here black ox Utah hockey club? Yeah, well, obviously Delta Center is going to be an absolute buzz, right? Like it's got 11, you know, 1000 people. So it's double the amount of what we saw for the last home game in Arizona. Coyote's history. He said, you know, the players they're already acclimated to the town. The fans are, you know, showed up in droves already at the beginning with that whole ceremony thing they did at the end of last year. So this is now going to be a culmination of what has all taken place and what all Utah has done in the city of Salt Lake to put together everything to get this club from Arizona, you know, to there. It's incredible seeing that. And I've seen some different clips when if you watch the preseason games, they've kind of shown a lot of behind the scenes stuff during the intermissions with Craig Smith, the owner, and his wife, and everybody, you know, the Ryan Smith, I said, and the owner. And how they just put everything together and did this in such a quick and timely fashion. So now to see where it grows from the game, I think it's going to be a lot of excitement and explosion. I think we get goals going both ways early in this contest. I think the Hawks, we're up for the challenge too. You know, obviously, Connor Bernard, you know, first full year in, you know, now you know, take that next step toward being that superstar towards being the leader of this team. You know, like I said, having Taylor Hall back in the lineup, you know, having these guys kind of looking like a more competitive Hawks team. The preseason, they kind of just skated through it. They didn't look good at all most of those nights, but they were jumping a lot of different things around. They, you know, Luke Richardson, a company, they were looking to see certain things amongst players. It was more of a player evaluation preseason than a let's get wins, let's score goals evaluation. I'm fine with that. Now you have to turn up the intensity, especially on offense. We got to see better puck movement. Yes, got to see better overall skating. And like you said, guys getting in front of the net, Tyler Batuzzi, you know, Pat Maroon on that bottom line, you know, skating with, with Fledo and Joey Anderson, those guys have to be disruptive, it down low, disrupt the goalie, disrupt the defenseman, create open lanes for some of these forward, so you can get some shots and get some offensive movement going. I think the Hawks are going to do that. And he said Ingram, fantastic season last year, but now he's got to try to duplicate that and invest that if possible for Utah to try to move forward and then be a potential playoff team this year. I think he will do that, but I think that, you know, that may not come right away in game one. I don't think he's going to just be, you know, shutting down the lights here. So I actually grabbed the five and a half way, way back when this opens, this went from five and a half to six, six and a half and back down to six over the course of literally two months. So I do have that in pocket. Of course, can't give that out. That's nowhere available now. But at six, I would recommend either waiting live. I do have the first period over. I bet that minus 128 at FanDuel. So I that is an official play pregame for me might, you know, grab a little bit more if that goes up to a plus 120 or something in game. But for full game total, I would wait for a five and a half to drop down around 110 just a few minutes into the contest along with that first period over. But you want to be quick if you're trying to grab that full game over because I do think we get a goal here pretty early. I like both teams to score plus 170 as well. They can get that over at FanDuel. So first period overlooks definitely my spot and I have Tyler Bertuzzi to earn a point plus 100. That's available at DraftKings. I think he's going to be, he's going to find his way on the score sheet. Like I said, maybe it's a deflection that bounces off of him. Maybe he gets a pass and you know, gets to feed somebody and gets an assist. But I think he's going to be on the score sheet tonight. So I like him to get a point at even money along with that first period over and both teams to score. All right, great stuff. Yeah, I figured this would be a perfect for this would be the Alex B Smith icebreaker first period over the season. This one, I have no question about that. Yeah, it does make sense goals early. I can definitely see that for sure. You answered my question, Bailey, so that I was going to add to Tom Leach said, which favorites more most likely to lose? I would say blues if I had to pick. I honestly think I lean, I don't like doing it because, you know, I like my underdogs and I'll always try to make a case for an underdog when it makes sense. But this is just one of those days where everything lines up match up wise, situational wise that I do lean to all favorites in the three games tonight. Yeah, I agree with that. So the way I have the scores in my head, I think we see five three Seattle, four three in a shootout for Florida, and six four Utah. Yeah, I can't even see all three of those. Yeah, it'll be Bennington and it is confirmed Bennington and Grubauer for the Grubauer was a cracking game for your goaltending match up there. Matt, I know you'll be excited because this was a team in Arizona. Now Utah, but like Josh, don't connection, especially that your brother has as well with him. But I know you're excited here. Utah hockey club making their first NHL game in the state. What do you think here? Chicago, Utah? Yeah, I know we talked about that Bruins Florida game being maybe the most exciting game on paper, the rivalry that playoff history the last few years. But this is the game I'm most excited about. I think there's a ton of gold props you can take here. I think there's a lot of electric offensive players in this game. I think both teams, defense slash goalies is a question mark. Not maybe to the level for both teams last year because otherwise we might have a 10-9 game on our hands. But I do think both teams are going to come out with some juice. That atmosphere in Utah is going to be wild tonight, to say the least. And I agree with Alex. I think Chicago's got some guys that will give some push back. Tyler Bertuzzi is a great guy to have in your lineup in a game like that. I think Connor Badard is coming back for his first hopefully full healthy season. I know he was out a few games last year. But when he was playing, obviously, he was rocking and rolling. I think he's coming back a year stronger. I think he'll be incredible right out of the gate. And he's got a little more support. Once he came back from that injury, there's no Taylor all there. He was basically playing with an AHL roster with a few exceptions. And I think this year they got some weapons for him to be playing with. So yeah, I think goal is galore. I'm on the first period over. I'm on the first period both teams to score in the game over. So back to the over track effective. This will be the first one of the year for me. I think you kind of talked to me into Utah first period team total one, as well as their team total game over at three. And then as I mentioned, I'm not going to be on 15 different props, but I could make a case for a lot of guys tonight. I do have a bargain bet on this game. So I'll save it for just a bit. And yeah, I just I like goals in this game. And I'm super fired up to watch this game. It'll be an exciting one for sure. You know what the game could stink and be absolutely horrible. And I'd still be excited and probably still be a great viewing experience just because of the atmosphere and the first game in Utah. But no, I expect the game to actually be solid. But this is more so about the the atmosphere and the environment that we are going to see here with Utah at the Delta Center here tonight for that. I mean, they got the whole ESPN crew there. They sent the studio guys out there to, you know, do the man, the fort for the triple header tonight from Salt Lake City from the Delta Center with the sent Steve Levy, Messier, and PK Soupan out there for the coverage tonight. So it's a big deal. No doubt as Utah plays their first NHL game tonight. Great stuff. Shout out to everyone in the chat. Hit the like button. This segment we just that the right before we started the season last year. We decided we're going to do this bargain bin special of the night. We said, well, let's give it a shot. Who knows how it's going to turn out? Who knows if people are going to like it? Who knows if we're going to be any good at it? And sure enough, we were fucking really good at it. The people loved it. And it has become one of our top most popular segments of the show. Because what this is and just to refresh everyone's memory for those that have forgotten or those that are just watching or listening for the first time, the bargain bin special of the night is our favorite player prop at plus 300 or better on the NHL board for that given day or night. And that's exactly what this is. So anything plus 300 or better is what we consider bargain bin material or bargain bin worthy as a bargain bin special of the night recommendation. So that is what we will be bringing once again every single day on this show. And hopefully with at least half the success we had with it last year, we'll be in some pretty good shape. Alex, we'll start with you. What do you like for your very first bargain bin special of the season? Well, we got to go with the very first game and why not go with the choice for the first goal of the first game? I like Maddie Beniers of the Seattle Kraken to get things rolling for the season. I like that plus 2000. So 2021 that over at FanDuel, then we get on the board. I think he's going to have a great year. I think those top six forwards for Seattle, they're going to really be invigorated now with this plasma system. And like I said, you know, playing some faster, freewheeling, open night hockey, you know, the way I think it was intended to be played, in my opinion. So Maddie Beniers, first goal of first game plus 2000. That's my first bargain bin special of the 24/25 season. All right, there we go. First one, Maddie Beniers for the Seattle Kraken for Alex B Smith with his bargain bin special of the night. Matt, your first bargain bin of the season. I'm just fired up with Alex's pick there. I love the pick, but also I just love when Alex is a higher up bargain bin. I think we've joked about it before. And Pete, there was a bargain bin that's plus 320. It's probably not going to hit, but anytime you think about something big for anyone who watched all last season, I remember numerous plus 1500. His hit rate with 10 to one or better was incredible. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fired up for that one, especially in that early game. So hopefully we'll see that one go through. As I mentioned, my bargain bins in that Chicago Utah game got to keep it close with a guy that I think had a great end to last year, had a solid preseason. And I know he's going to be excited for tonight's game. I'm going to take Josh Jones anytime goes for plus 400 plus 420, depending on the book you're looking at. Again, he's going to get some power play minutes. I think that game could be 6-4, could be 10-8, obviously a little bit of a stretch there, but Wow, that is a bit of a joke. But I think 6-4 would not be a surprising game to anybody. And if Utah scores six goals, why not Josh Jones getting one of them? So Josh Jones anytime goldenite. Yeah, let's get it. There you go. Josh Jones for the Utah hockey club. And a great price with that. And again, even though he's down the lineup, and he's going to be on that fourth line, it looks like, doesn't mean he can't make the best use of his time on ice that he does get to make an impact. And we know he's got that ability to do that. So plus 4-15. Panpanatics and a couple other books, you can get that kind of a price right now. Josh Jones for Matt Robinson with his first bargain been special the night. My first bargain been special the night. And this was a tricky decision. I'm going to go with two. I'm going to go with two just for tonight because one of them is, I don't want the people that watch the show later to feel like, ah, game's already off the floor. I'm going to give you one from the St. Louis Seattle game, and I'm going to give you one from the Chicago Utah game. The one that I'm going to give you, and they're both same premise, exact same premise, ridiculous value on a guy that's suddenly on the top line. And for the St. Louis Seattle game, it's Dylan Holloway plus 550, Holloway. If we bet on Holloway, take some time to say the braid, Dylan Holloway plus 550 at Bette Victor, best price out there, playing with Robert Thomas, Jake Neighbors on the top line, saw with the ability of Dylan Holloway last year in the playoffs with Edmonton when he got the opportunity so Dylan Holloway, St. Louis Blues plus 550. That's my first of two bargain bin special of the night selections. My second one comes from the Chicago Utah game, and we're going to go to Ilya Mikayev, alongside Connor Bedard and Tevo TerraVinen on the likely top line tonight for the Chicago Black Ocks. And you can find Ilya Mikayev at plus 570 at Petano Sportsbook to find the back of the net tonight. That is, like I say, that's a price that I cannot pass up. Now, Mikayev had a down season last year, no doubt. He was in Rick Tockett's dog house much of last year with the Canucks, but a fresh start, clean slate, new team, an opportunity right off the hop given to him by Luke Richardson and the coaching staff to start him on the top line this year with Connor Pedard and with Tevo TerraVinen. And again, you can't argue that price. I think he's a motivated player, bounce back. Like I said, fresh start should help him. Let's go Ilya Mikayev, Chicago Black Ocks plus 570 for my second bargain bin special of the night. So there you go, Dylan all the way and Ilya Mikayev to bargain bin specials for me for this opening night of the NHL season. All right, our first best bets of the season, Alex. What do you like? Let's head out to Salt Lake City, Utah. First time saying that on the show. Chicago Black Ocks in the Utah Hockey Club, we will go first period over one and a half. Best price available right now is minus 128 available at FanDoo. Go over one and a half with Hawks and Utah. Get two goals in the first period. That's the first best bet of the season. There we go, Chicago Utah, first period over. Best bet for Alex P Smith. Matt Robinson, great to have a full season of Maddie on the show this season and Tuesdays and Thursdays. As always, Matt, what do you like here tonight for best bet? Yeah, so honestly, my best bet is the exact same bet as Alex's. I like the full game over whether you got it in at five and a half, whether you get it at six, whether you wait for it live. But for the best bet, especially kicking off the year, I know the followers and the ones in the chat want as many best bets as possible, but I can't. I added marks since I've been looking at these three games on the schedule. I just think it's going to be rocking in there early. I think there's going to be some action. So I also will be on Chicago, Utah, first period over one and a half. That's my best bet. Can't break away from that. That's all right. Not the wrong with that. First period over as well for Matt Robinson with the Black Hawks and the Utah Hockey Club for his first best bet of the season. And my first best bet of the season, I'm actually going to go from that game as well, but I'm going to go with the side and I'm going to go with the Utah Hockey Club first period puck line, minus a half plus 140. That to me is the best value with Utah. The money line is not the best, minus 170 in some spots. And if you're going to take the full game, you've either got to lay that money line price or take the puck line. I think the best is focusing on the best look is focusing on that first 20 minutes. When that Utah team is going to be so amped up, excited, ready for a strong start. I think just filled with such energy that they're probably going to be first to a lot of the loose pucks that you see in that first period with that crowd going nuts behind them. And they are still, in my opinion, a better team than Chicago right now. So to me, Utah first period puck line at a great price, Utah minus a half plus 140 first period puck line for me with the first best bet of the season here for this opening night of the NHL season.
