Panthers Pounce on Bruins, Drake Maye to Make First Start Sunday
All right, so I'm gonna record this even before the game is even over cuz what's the point of waiting for this to go final? But obviously Bruins get embarrassed by whatever the final score of this is gonna be right now. It's six to two Florida Just a dreadful night from beginning to end It didn't get off to a good start and it never it never at any point in time Looked good for the Bruins You know they give up they were getting out shot I think 14 to one in the first ten minutes of the game, which was ridiculous. They were already down to not then Somehow miraculously found themselves in a position where they almost tied it actually at to a piece after the Pavel's Akugo made it two to one short-handed and They there was a moment there where they got a power play and a lice in home almost cross-checked the puck Into the net on the power play, but alas they end up giving up a short-handed and then another goal Just an awful night all around You know this team is They got a problem with this Florida team You know Florida's just in their head Florida's in their head, you know the Bruins are just trying out here. They're trying to fight They're trying to start problems are taking stupid penalties because they're getting overly emotional Florida knows they're in your head. They have no reason to engage in that sort of nonsense but you know, it's just typical Bruins they just act stupid and they just do dumb things and and You know they take stupid penalties because of it and You know luckily their penalty kill is so freaking good. They they're able to keep Florida from scoring But you know it takes any chance they have at gaining any sustained pressure offensively against this team and They and they struggle with that enough without taking the penalties You know the defense tonight not good The defense letch down You know everyone on that defense is six feet tall and 200 some putt some up six foot plus tall and 220 somewhat pounds, but they can't push anyone out from in front of the net Don't even get me started on the goaltender tonight. He sucked Back up goaltender Jonas Carpisolo Let's in the first goal was a bad one first goal loses completely loses the rebound pops up in the air And he has no idea where it is a second goal hard to blame him on Aaron Andrew Pete gets put pushed in is getting pushed around in front of the net and It's a crowd of two Panthers standing there so hard to blame him for that one The shorthand a goal. He's got to stop the shorthand a goal. I'm sorry. It's like You know Ryan Hart Makes a hell of an effort there and Mack boy try it I mean Mack boy shouldn't have let him get all the way up the ice, but he tried to make his power move and Give Ryan Hart is little time to get that shot off as possible and you know Corpisolo just gets beat from a bad angle You just can't you just can't get beat from there and then he also gives up a rebound on the fourth goal And after that it hasn't gotten any better That's the last goal that Florida scored he he really should have had and it's another one. He's too far into the net Yeah, you know, it seems like it's unfair to pin it all on him because of how bad they they've looked tonight, but You know, you can't you can't get by with goaltending that bet, but I will say though I mean getting out shot 14 to 1 when you have your backup goaltender in is In the first 10 minutes is just ridiculous You know, they came out just looking flat just looking terribly flat and It really makes me a little bit worried though here for the start of the year because they have they don't have the continuity That they've had through the past few seasons that's really allowed them to get off to good starts because they have so much chemistry As a unit that I think it really helps them in the regular season with, you know How much they've been able to just stick together and and all that jazz it really they really haven't had much turnover They've kind of had a decent amount of turnover over here This year, you know, you're adding a new top six forward and Lycelyn home and you add Nikita's a door off into your defense. He was playing on the bottom pair tonight which You know, I'm sure they're gonna experiment with all year long, but Yeah, you know, you when you plug in a couple of big-name guys in there and you know They haven't had their continuity as they've had In years past and and they have a tough schedule and I just kind of worry that they may not be able to get off to a strong start As they have in previous years and build up such a You know a base as far as points go That you know, they may be towards the end of the year, you know fishing for points to either stay in the playoffs or You know, get get a good seating, but you know, who knows obviously just one night You don't want to completely judge and throw those season on one night, but Not not good, especially when you look at, you know, just they're gonna I mean they're gonna have to go through Florida at some point. So, you know, I just don't like to match up against this team I just think that they've got your number and I think you're too emotional when you play them You're too emotional when you play them You're resorting to you know Shit that is just not you at this point in time. Like you're just not the big tough Boss and bros, which is another thing. It's like you get down to nothing and all of a sudden you start pushing and shove in and starting Starting fights and just all that shit and it's like You just look ridiculous. You just look ridiculous in Florida Didn't have to engage in any of it with you and they didn't they just said look at the scoreboard buddy You know, you're not getting under their skin. They are clearly in your head And you know At this point the Florida Panthers are just your daddies, you know They've beaten you two times and in the past two years in the postseason. They've ended your season prematurely While they went off to the Stanley Cup finals you're an afterthought to them And every time you face them you can't stop, you know dropping the gloves and fighting them So they need to get over that thing. They need to get over that thing You know the coach didn't have them ready to start the game tonight Paul Maurice did on the Florida Panthers He had his team ready to play and engage on a banner night, which you know, you would expect hey You may be able to catch them on an off night They're worried about you know the past and here you are You're the ones worried about the past the other ones worried about last year and the year before that and trying to Beat them up and make a statement but No, just a horrible game all around and hopefully, you know, they get to reset Thursday night against Montreal But so off the Bruins as this game is starting to wind down I'm gonna just mention briefly the Obviously the big news today Coming out that Drake May will be starting on Sunday For the Patriots against the Houston Texans the Houston Texans team that is four-in-one Really? Made Josh Allen look ordinary this past weekend at large points in time And it's just on a roll right now Definitely an interesting time to throw Drake Drake Mayan especially if you just played the dolphins who were a terrible team That's still we're able to find a way to beat you, but Nevertheless, they decide to reverse course just one second here. I'm gonna take a sip of water Wait, but nevertheless they sort of get off course with Drake Mayan here, I think And I don't think that this was part of the plan. I don't understand how Anyone could really think that this was part of the plan Obviously the reaction to losing on Sunday. I think has gotten some urgency down in Foxborough for changes And I think people are starting to get a little uptight and I think that's why the rookies coming in Maybe to his detriment You know, he's not working out there with much. He's got no receivers. He's got no offensive line even the offense line has been better That that last game was their best game and even they were pretty decent against the 49ers But no receivers no real, you know help there He's got a running game. I will say that they do run. They did run the ball pretty well on Sunday the coaches insist on passing even though they're averaging seven yards a carry in that game, but So, you know, he doesn't have the coaches. He doesn't have the coaches. He doesn't have the offensive line per se At least personnel-wise and he doesn't have the receivers. So overall, he's kind of set up for failure That being said if he's able to have some success Whatever how little it is it doesn't matter if he's able to steal a couple games or or just, you know Put up numbers or just not be the reason why you're losing games If he has any number of success You got to look at that and be like hey, maybe we got something here Maybe if we invested some money and some assets into building an offense around him Maybe we could get something but I Don't know seems like a total PR move at to me. It seems like it's the ownership getting involved and sensing that people are turning off the TVs and They're not going to be going to the game soon and you know, they'd rather be three and fourteen with Drake May Then be three and fourteen with Jacobi per set because what's enjoyable about watching Jacobi per set Play football at this stage He's not very good He slow Takes too long to make a decision and So a at least Drake may he's gonna add some flair He's gonna be able to make plays out of the pocket. He's gonna be able to make plays with his feet He's gonna be able to throw the ball Probably better than Jacobi per set is I mean we all saw the preseason. He was definitely better during the preseason he By all accounts won the job quote-unquote If it was a true competition, which it wasn't but So, you know, it should be a slight improvement and the Bruins just got a goal. So A meaningless goal here. I think he was trend Frederick, but Nevertheless But yeah, you know it I just don't think it's a wise move In the long run if you're looking at the long run, it's very kind of short-term thinking. I think a lot of people are urgent a Lot of people are nervous down there and that's what prompted the move But other than that my throat's kind of bothering me.
