And Cap, we are counting the hours, the minutes, the days to the Bears taking on, the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Our coverage is all day on Sunday. The kick is at 8.30 in the morning on Sunday. Right here on the home of the Bears, ESPN 1000. And I love that the Bears are in the UK. I like some of the video and the audio I've heard so far from the Bears in London because, okay, it's a pressure cooker here in Chicago, as you well know. The press is there in Lake Forest, talking to the Bears, but I've seen various interviews on different platforms, NFL, network, podcast, ESPN Chicago, where the Bears, it's not like they're 100% comfortable, but they're just more at ease. Because they're in a different land. They're just out there and they're just comfortable. And I'm glad that some of the stuff internally is starting to reveal itself as far as the working of the Bears and some of the personalities that we're watching every day with this Bears team. - I feel like they are on the precipice of taking a very big step. Does that mean they're beating Jacksonville? No, I'm not talking about short-term. I'm talking about a more macro look that Caleb Williams has taken significant steps. Anybody that watches the Bears, if you don't see growth and improvement from what we saw the past several years between Jay, to Mitch, to Justin, and see this guy and think that's our future, I can't help you then. And that is not a personal shot at anybody that's no longer here. Period, it's just not. Justin was a good guy, great athlete. He'll be fine in the league. I want more than fine. I want to chase greatness. And this kid has a chance to achieve what we've never, ever seen here. And it just feels like the vibe around this team is really, really good. - The first five games that we've seen from Caleb Williams has been very, very important because it's just all about growth. That's the only thing that you look at for any rookie, not just a rookie quarterback, but for any rookie, you're looking to be able to have growth. No one steps onto the field and is great in the first game or the first season because what you want is for the player like Caleb Williams or any other rookie, just to be comfortable out there, growing from the first game to where we are right now. No matter the opponent, the offense looks better. Caleb talks about those first five games and why that's such an important factor for him and his growth. - Yeah, I think it's been great. I think it's, you know, these five games have been really important for me. The amount of ball that I've been learning, and I think the progress that I've had so far only amounts to everybody else, meaning the other 10 guys and the coaches that are out there calling it, us running it, I think it starts in practice and how we've handled ourselves from that indie loss. From there, we've made jumps in practice. I'm not speaking about the game or anything like that. We've made huge jumps in practice about focus, about details, and I think that starts with our leaders that we have. - And, Cap, the growth is not about necessarily the numbers and the touchdowns and all that. It's about the leadership in the room, as a quarterback. - In the room and on the field. And I described the play after talking with Waddle at the play the other day right before the half when he threw a dime to DJ Moore for a touchdown, and that I think made it 27-7, and you went, all right, we're good. We're gonna win this game. The way he looked to safety and drew him over, and then bam, down the seam, there's no safety help. See you later, touchdown Chicago, ball game. We're gonna win. - Yeah. - That is huge growth, man. Huge. Everybody there has to continue to grow. Are they as good as the Lions? I don't think they are right now. Can they get there? - Maybe. I just really, really love that we have a quarterback. Love it. - So, along with the numbers and all of the success that we've seen, especially the last two games with the Bears and Feeding the Rams and Carolina, you know, you've gotta be able to connect to your weapons. And one of those weapons is DJ Moore, why receiver for the Bears? He's noticed a difference in Caleb Williams from game one to now. He says that this guy right now, Caleb Williams, he's bossy. - That's amazing. He's taking those strides that he needs to. He's been bossy lately, telling us that we need to be on the details. But we really do for him to be the best player he needs to be. So, but yeah, I think that's it. He's been a leader. So, what I mean by bossy is, we don't hit something in practice. He's gonna tell us how we need to run it, this, that. And we just look at him and be like, okay. And then when we get out there on the game, you just better make sure it works 'cause he's gonna have some words for you if you don't. So, that's him being a leader. He's a little bossy. No, he's still a little bro, so. - That's what you want. (indistinct) - Yeah, you do wanna see that. Like I said, he's like little bro. So, he's like looking at him like, dude, don't be talking to me like that. But it's like, I understand, 'cause we need to really connect on that. And that's what we did this past week. So, I took his advice. Now, listen, you know what I'm saying? Older bro had to take it backseat for a second. - Get little bro. Call him. - I'm bossy. - He's bossy. - I loved it. I loved hearing. - Wait a minute. - That he's bossy. Because that's what we need. 'Cause the famous story is that Jim McMahon, when he went into the huddle for the first time as the Bears quarterback in a regular season game, member Avelini was starting. - Yes, good number seven. - Yes. - That Jim got in the huddle, and guys are all talking and barking. He goes, shut the F up from this moment on. It's my huddle. Nobody speaks in here. Me. - Got it? - Whoa. - And Jim McCover said, "Oh, okay." - That's crazy. But I love that. And he's pretty much saying that, yes, he is bossy. - Actually, I think it might've been Noah Jackson. - One of them. - I'm bossy. - Definitely. - Wow. - Yeah. - He had a guy take control like that. That's what Caleb's doing. - Imagine if he was just a wallflower and the quarterback overwhelmed by the amount of veterans on the team. - Excuse me. Could we maybe run this? - What? - Oh God. - No. - You can't do that. You cannot have that position without balls. You gotta have balls. - Correct. - You've gotta have the to stick your fortitude, to stick your beak in there and tell a player when he's wrong. It's just about sports, it's business. It's just about being a good teammate. You just have to say it, Cap. As a good teammate. - I love that, Scott. We'll play it again today. I love that, Scott. - I thought it was. - Awesome. But then D.J. Moore says, "Little bro is talking to me, I'm big brother." And he's like, - Don't be talking to me like that. - I'm positive. - You can't do it. That's what he's saying. - And then he said, "Big bro, I had to take back seat for a second." - I mean, this is the position. This is what you have to do. You gotta be, how else can you grow, Cap? Now about your fantasy football numbers, it's not about, it's about how the team can get better. - Right. - He can't be less than. He's a rookie, yes, but he can't be less than. Everyone's got to be on the same page, on the same level and respect it. - We're great. - Gotta be respected. - And that's our leader right there. And I remember, I told you this, I ran into Major Wright, remember him? - Major Wright, yeah. - 21. - I ran into him at the East Bank. He was with Jerry Zuma. - Zuma. - And I said something about Cutler. He goes, "You guys just in the media, you just don't get it." He goes, "J's not a horrible person." He goes, "We just look at him and go, 'Ain't following that dude.'" He's like, "He's not a leader." He goes, "Till we get a guy where we go." I'm following that guy. That's the problem. We haven't had one. Guys liked Mitch. Nice guy. He wasn't good enough. So are they going on following that dude? No. - Yeah. - They liked Justin. He wasn't good enough. It's okay. So we might have our guy now. - You know, Bears fans cap can be really picky. Sometimes leveling on pessimism, being pessimistic versus being optimistic. I think that you and I are optimistic about the bears, only just based on the depth charts, how things are going in the right direction, momentum is going their way, a couple of wins in a row. But you know, I know that there's, I don't know if you feel it like I feel it on the show every morning, but just based on our listeners, people on our social media, there's this level of wait and see. Wait and see. And so I don't know how you can have this level of wait and see and make your big bold opinion in January. Cap, it's about now. You have to make a decision. Now if there's a Bears fan, do you feel like this team can be a team that could be a playoff team or go further than they did last year? I think that they can, just based on the roster composition. I just think that when we look at, if we had a yellow pad, like this one in front of me, and we drew a line in the middle of it and I'd say, what are the positives and what are the negatives or the question marks about the Bears? The positives would outweigh the negatives. You just don't want the negatives to overwhelm this team. Like we talk all the time about how the offensive lines get up beyond the same page. Or Matt Iberfluze and some of his picadillos when it comes to not being able to understand time and score. Little things like that. Taking a time out before a two point conversion. Little things like that. Yeah. All I'm saying is, if you draw a line down the middle, you would say this team's got more momentum on the positive side than the negative side. Would you agree? Oh, a hundred percent. Hundred percent. Hundred percent. Now you've got three picks in the top two rounds next year. Currently. Got to add more to the offensive line. That has got to be paramount. Paramount. But again, he's going to, when he's told us a billion times, I sat with him, Paul's, this summer. And I said, you're going to have three really good picks next year. He said, and I'm going to take the best guy on the board, whatever he plays. I hope to God, that's an offensive alignment. Don't smart the room. I mean, everyone, how many people here were calling us his first draft? They wanted George Pickens. They wanted an old lineman. They wanted whoever chased Claypool at the time. They took, they ended up taking, they took Brisker and Gordon. I'm glad we had them. It was odd because they built the outside of the home. They, well, they built the secondary before the offensive line. Because he said, I'm taking the two best guys on my board. And that's who they are. And it worked out. Those were the right picks. So unfortunately, Brisker out this week. It's all right. This is one you build infrastructure. It's Hicks, right? That's going to be the starter in this place. Looks like Elijah Hicks will get the start. You'll see a large dose of Jonathan Owens. Okay. That's fine. Others on that secondary can make big time place. Splash place. Yep. If it's not, if it's not going to be Brisker, okay, there's Gordon and there's Johnson and there's Tyrek Stevenson and so many others that can really make a difference in that secondary. So it's all good. Yep, correct. So again, you got to get pressure on the quarterback. You've got to. You got to get pressure. And if they can, Billings and Dexter Demarcus Walker, at some point, they're going to have to help on those guys if they're getting beat all the time. And that will free sweat up to do more because he's taking on double teams right now. So let's ask this question. I like to let's take the pulse of the bear fan this morning. Kevin, let's open the phone lines at 312-332-ESPN-332-3776 as our phone member. Bears fans, as you drive to work, as you listen to the show, wherever you are right now, I want to ask this question. Cap and I want to find out from you how you feel about the bears this morning. That might change tomorrow. Might change after Sunday's game, but how you feel right now currently about the bears. Is it wait and see? Is it more pessimism or is it optimism for this bears team? Because some cap, the reason why we ask the question is, some are taking the last couple of wins away from the bears. Yeah, only Rams are banged up and the Panthers are good. I don't care. I watch the game with my eyes and I see what my quarterbacks doing. Again, they might lose to Jacksonville. I wouldn't be stunning. I hope they win. They should win. They're better. But it could happen. Yes. But I look at my quarterback, I go, you got our guy. We're good. It's OK to be positive about a Chicago sports team. Yes. I just want to make sure I understand who I should major league baseball playoffs last couple of nights. And there's none at those levels. There's no Cubs or Sox there. We understand that the NHL started and we also understand that, like, there's no chance for the Blackhawks to be a playoff team this year, Bulls clinging to maybe eighth or ninth spot. But the point is, Cap, is that with the bears, it's OK to be optimistic. It's OK to feel because you don't want to be left behind on the bandwagon. Yeah, because the other four teams are. The Cubs are OK, Sox are horrible, Bulls are in rebuild, and the Blackhawks are in a rebuild. It is what it is, man. It's pathetic that this is the state of Chicago sports, pathetic. It is. It is. We've got two New York teams in the playoffs and baseball. Can John Middleton, the Phillies owner who's now going to go out spending more money to try and fix what they missed on? Yeah. We get in. Yeah. So, so let's just get the pulse of the Bears fan this morning, 3 1 2 3 3 2, ESPN is our phone number as we talk to you about the Bears optimism, pessimism. How do you feel right now? And by the way, listen, if you are still waiting to see, we want to talk to you about that as well. It's early in the season. Yes. You got to take a one game at a time. However, there's momentum with this Bears team, and we're talking to you about it here on the home of the Bears, Cap and Jay Hood. It's a Captain Jay Hood morning show on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. Here's hoping that you're going to have a great Thursday. It's a deal Brecker's Thursday here on Captain Jay Hood. We will have deal Brecker's coming away at 835. Ultimately, Cap, we're just bringing our on the street conversation. On the air that we talk to Bears fans. They stop us all the time, grocery store in the streets, whenever asking the question. So what do you think of the Bears? I get that you get this all the time, UPS driver comes to the house and of course, you know, it happens at my house all the time because the doorbell rings, at least I know the doorbell rings. I know it works at least three times a day because of the amount of boxes that come in to the house. Amazon UPS guide knows who we are, sees the package, Jonathan Hood, Jay Hood, right? Yeah. That's me. Yeah. What do you think of the Bears? Say, well, I think that we're going to win. I'm going to close the door because the flies are coming in, but thanks. Yeah. Have a good day. No. That's funny that you interact with your UPS driver because I was walking our new puppy Maverick. Yeah. And we had a UPS driver for years. Huge socks, man. And he once said to me, he's like, yeah, love you guys on the air. I'm more of a hood guy. I'm a socks guy. I'm like, okay. I'll tell him that. I think I told you. Yeah. We got a new guy. He's coming through. He stops. Hey, that was great this morning. He listens while he's not driving. And he's like, can I give the puppy a treat? He carries dog treats in the UPS truck. That's cool. Like dog cookies? Yes. And I see the box. I'm like, those things they'll wear. Okay for him. He's like, oh, yeah. He goes, got it. Bam. He's like my buddy now. Yes. Smart guy. Yes. So you and I vibe with the UPS driver. Just because they're, they take care of us. So we take care of them. Yeah. I feel like I married Jeff Bezos's wife. Oh my God. So at least I know the doorbell works because it rings a lot and the guys like asking me what about the bears and that and so ultimately we're asking you what about the bears as a bears fan. It's not kept like every year we come in here marching in saying, yep, this is going to be the year. Yep. This is going to be the year because if they were terrible, we would tell you that they're terrible. We would tell you there's no reason for optimism, but it is different. It is different. If you just flew in to Chicago, you became a bears fan this year. You think, oh, well, maybe it's maybe they're going to win. Maybe they won't know. If you're armed with the knowledge of knowing what bears football has been for years and how bereft it has been as far as getting quality talent and a front office appeal, all this stuff. I mean, it's been like this for a long time, but things have changed over there. Now here's the thing. They have not won the, been in the playoffs. They have not won the playoffs in this regime. So that's the next step. You won games, but can you get to the postseason? That's a big question. It is. This is a huge, huge question, and this is a game you got to win now again. It's not a must win. This is a game you need though, if you're going to be taken seriously, as we were talking with Kevin before the show, if you're going to be taken seriously, this is a game you got to find a way to win. Find a way and just keep being what I know every year, every, every day, right? Every time they play, go on and know, right? You can only be want to know this week. Yes. And I had. Oh God, would you just clear it out? Sorry. Harry. I've been busy. Hello, my baby. Hello, my honey. Hello, my rag. God. So, have you been drinking again? No, not a drop, because usually that gurgle cups on a little wine. Yeah. I have not had any wine. Okay. I haven't had any booze. Okay. Nothing. All right. In several days. That's true. That's it's Monday. Go ahead. Here's the fact that the matter is you can only get to want to know each week. That's it, and I was talking with my neighbor again the other day, and he gets all panicking. Right. Just awful. Yes. I mean, people listen to it with headphones. You understand that, right? I do. But it's the allergies have been kicking in. I understand. Oh, God bless you. I know. Hello, my baby. Hello, my baby. Hello, my baby. God, we don't win this game, and then we get the break, and then you're usually a little flat after the break, and then we get Washington, and then he's like, this could spiral. I'm like, would you stop? Yeah. You can't live life like that, man. Dude, they're three and two. They've won a couple in a row. They've won eight in a row at home. Just stop. Yes. Please. The trend is in the right direction. Just one play at a time. Let's go out and see if we can beat Jackson, though. We're just taking your pulse as a Bears fan of how you feel about the team. 312332 ESPN is our phone number. Logan Square. Here's Terrell on ESPN 1000. What's up guys, it's been a while since I spoke to you guys. I'm a video editor, so I've been kind of in the dudgeon, but yeah, I got, I'm feeling real good about the Bears. Super good, and I'll go as far as to say I'm thinking, thinking Caleb's going to have another 300 yard game. He cuts down and one of them is going to be to Keenan Allen. They're going to get their first one. So you feel good about the Bears where they are right now? Very good. Yeah. Play off good? Or just wait and see good? Oh, I'm 100% playoff good. Okay. I hope you're right. And I have said, I thought they would go to the playoffs this year. But this is a game. If you're going to be taken seriously, go to playoffs, this is a game you've got to get. Yes. Yeah. No, I'm not taking the game lightly. I feel like, you know, Caleb, he's getting it, getting it right at the right time. They'll have a nice little get right by week, you know, heal up and then come back strong against Washington. Get that dove there. T, we appreciate the telephone call now. You see he leaves line open three, one, two, three, two, three, seven, seven, six is our phone number. Look at the phone lines. Let's look at what you've done. Every line lit. Oh, yes. Lovely Glenview. Here is Matt on Captain J. Hood. Matt. Good morning. Hey, good morning, guys. Um, so my take is not necessarily optimistic as of right now, I'm more optimistic for the future. Um, I kind of go back and think about the 2021, like Philadelphia Eagles or Caitlin Hurts is young and he didn't have the weapons. They necessarily have everything he needed. I'm more optimistic that we're going to fix some stuff in the off season and kind of have that boom that those eagles did where they went 13, three and went to the Super Bowl. And that take that second step and Caleb second year. I think we're going to probably go around eight and eight, maybe eight and nine this year. Sure. I mean, eight, nine or nine and eight this year and hopefully make the playoffs and I'm not going to be like pessimistic about the season. I still love the bears. I'm trying to teach my kids not to be the delusional Chicago fan, but I think the optimism for next year is definitely higher for me than this season currently. You know what Matt, it's, I'm glad you brought up your kids because, you know, a lot of kids and Cap and I've talked about this before. They see the angst from us, the adults as Bears fans or Chicago sports fans. And they go off and they find themselves with a homes Jersey or a Steph Curry Jersey likely because they know they're in my neighborhood. They know the angst, right? Because they don't want to be like dad and granddad pissed off about Chicago sports all the time. So they just go for the stars. You got to make sure that you arm them from that, Matt, they got to be locked into Chicago sports fans. You know, I'm trying so hard, he wants to be Steph Curry for Halloween because he doesn't know what to root for for the Bulls. See? Yeah. Matt, you have, that's a long sit down, don't you? Like, I mean, but if you're a kid, you have a choice. Steph Curry, the greatest shooter we've ever seen or Zach Levine. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely picking Steph Curry. I mean, seriously. Yeah. Or see if he knows who Matus Bosellis is and that kid. Yeah. He's a new cool flavor too now. Right. Like, he develops, like, oh yeah, Bosellis cool, he's got a chip on his shoulder, like, okay. But then those other teams are in the playoffs all the time. Right. Yeah. They're on all the commercials. Yeah. My grandson, who's three, we bought him a Holmes jersey. Oh, why? And that was when we were in KC a couple of years ago. Yeah. I said, maybe let's get that for Ben. Buy it. He doesn't want to wear anything else but that. See, that's tough, man. He sees your recaps and gets and gets that dad's upset when you're recording them. And then he's like, I don't want to be that mad about sports. No, I want the easy route. Correct. Here. Patrick, my home shirt. Oh, my God. I told you I see Silpy's kids now they're getting a little older and I think they are more locked in on Chicago teams, but I have Braxton hanging on my car last year. And he's giving me a hard time. Yeah, he jumped up holding on the door. Yeah, he's talking trash to me. Did he say he's a packer fan? Did one of those kids say that to you? I think it was Braxton, so Silpy's probably up listening. I think that's what Braxton said to me, but I think he was just giving me a hard time. It's like, who says that? Who says that? The troll. But his kids are hilarious. It's crazy, man. They're hilarious. One, two, three, three, two, ESPN, three, three, two, three, seven, seven, six, our phone number. We're just measuring your pulse this morning like how you feel in the reason why we bring this up. There's a number of reasons. But one of the big reasons is that at this point in time, as Cap mentioned earlier in Chicago sports, the Bears are our only hope. That's it. That's all we got. We're campaigning on hope and the hope is Cap is that the Bears are the next team that will be a perennial playoff team. You like for all to be a playoff team's cap, but if it's at the Bears, this is it. Completely agree. So we're talking to you about that. If you're on hold, you will be on the air on the Cap and Jhood Morning Show. Dude, let me be talking to you like that. Checkmate, one, six land here suppression on target. Good morning and welcome in to the Cap and Jhood Morning Show on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app with David Kaplan, Jonathan Hood with you. I'll remind you in an hour from now, we will have Tom Thayer, he'll join us at nine o'clock right here on Cap and Jhood. Yeah, Tommy, if you're awake yet, I think you are. No almonds. But first, shot or no shot. Here's Kevin Zepack. Good morning, fellas. How are we doing? We're doing well, man. We're doing well. It's a beautiful day in the beautiful city. All right. Let's get started here. I'm good. Thanks. I'm good. Doing well. Didn't ask me, but that's fine. I said fellas. How are we doing? I think that's a collective. Well, I didn't get a chance to answer because you just put your beak in there before I can answer. That's what happens. I thought you like to keep it moving here. Damn. All right. Well, I mean, it's a good point. But I also, I'm also very personable. You are very personable. That's the whole thing. One of the things I like about you, unfortunately, you would not allow me to be personable. What you did is you stuck your beak in there before I could tell you good morning. Jonathan, good morning. How are you? All right. Let's go, man. We don't have this time. All right. Let's get started then. It's seen with you. Jane Daniels, start to his NFL career has opened up eyes around the league. He's got the Washington commanders off to a pretty stunning start out there in the NFC East. And of course, we've already had the debates had did the bears take the wrong quarterback at number one. Let's not talk about the debates. It's a sports show. Go ahead. Not only Jane Daniels, you've got Malik neighbors putting up big numbers in New York. You've got Marvin Harrison, Jr. out in Arizona off to a hot start. Yet Caleb Williams is still second in rookie of the year voting right now. He's plus 300. Jane Downs is the favorite minus 250. So shot or no shot, you would still be willing to put a wager on Caleb Williams to win NFL rookie of the year. Absolute shot. Absolute shot. It's a shot Kevin because that's what I put my money on already. And I can't go back on it. There is no cash out feature for Caleb Williams in rookie of the year. There's no button on there. Like, can I cash this out? It's not going well, pal. I can't do that. So that's what I've always felt. The kid Caleb Williams, going back to his time at USC, you could see that he was ready to be a pro. When you played USC, you're pro anyway, even though it's a college team cap, everything is pointing at you. The big spotlight's on you. And I thought maybe not a senior year as much, but the junior year told me that he was NFL ready. Now again, we always say that and then there's your Marcus Russell. Then there's Brady Quinn, you know, there's Joey Harrington. There's always these examples of, hey, here's a first round draft pick that's a quarterback. And sometimes the infrastructure does not work for the quarterback that comes in with Caleb and what the Bears have done. I think it's a match. I think it's a match, and it's bossy. Yeah, I absolutely think it's a shot. I think he has a very good chance to win the rookie of the year award. Jayden Daniels had a great start. No doubt about it. So we'll see. Neighbors didn't even play last week. Is he playing this week? He's in the concussion protocol. Like you. Possibly. Wow. Here's Kevin Zepak. All right. Kevin Warren spoke yesterday from London, still steadfast in the idea that the Bears are going to have their new stadium going, construction going by 2025 downtown, not in Arlington Heights. It seems like he's digging in more and more every time we hear from him. He is totally into doing this on the lakefront, not out in the suburbs. And it seems like the momentum, at least from the people I'm hearing from here at the station and elsewhere is that the want is Arlington Heights and not the lakefront. So shot or no shot, shovels in the ground on a new lakefront stadium in 2025 based on Warren's most recent comments. Kevin, you're one of the brightest guys at the station. You're a smart guy. I think so. Yeah. I think it's pretty clear. Okay. Just ask you. All I'm telling, asking you, Kevin, is this okay? You know better in 2025. Think about this. It's 2024 now as an intelligent man. Do you think that there'd be shovels in the ground next year for a new stadium? I trust Kevin Warren. To do what? Get those shovels in the ground. In 2025. Yeah. That's the city that works. No shot. Kevin. He's just trolling. I don't know why he's doing it. I'm not trolling. What are you talking about? It's an unfortunate. I wouldn't come show up on this program. This is a steam program and start trolling you guys in the morning on a beautiful day. But if we work afternoons, possibly. Here's the thing, cap. We talked a lot about it. Just the other. I don't I don't know what Kevin sees. Kevin Warren looks at this and says, oh, yes, we love the idea that coming off of a commercial break on TV that you can have the drone footage of the new soldier field off the lakefront, dude. So you want to be able to have the friends of the park control even the new stadium to? They're not going away. They're not. So you're good with that versus having your own land to do whatever the hell you want to do with it. That's what I mean. That's the choice. I would love to have like break bread with him. I've never met him. I would love to break bread with him and go, can you explain to me other than the visual appeal of being a picture of your stadium down there? Why? Why makes no sense to me? I mean, I mean, statuses, we're continuing to make progress. I mean, we have a plan. We stay focused still to be able to be in the ground, start constructing sometime in 2025. There's a lot of activity that's still going on. We're having regular meetings with key business leaders, key politicians, just staying focused and on course, you know, this is a long journey on any of the stadium projects and try to make it as straight of a journey as you possibly can. But this takes time. It takes a lot of effort. It takes a lot of energy. I've been there before. And so we're exactly where I thought we would be at this point in time. Did I read that they're going to put a lid on this new thing, a new stadium that they're trying to think of? How do you put a dome on it? Did you read that? On what? On the new stadium. Yeah. On the lakefront. It will be dead. You mean on the current one? On the lakefront. Yeah. No, I'm talking about they want to build a new stadium. Yeah. On the lakefront. We're interested in putting a lid on top of it, like a dome stadium over here. Did you see that? Yeah. I'm surprised. You want an outdoor stadium? I'm just surprised that they can get that done in the city. In Chicago. Yeah. They're not going to build an outdoor stadium ever. But you understand that I'm surprised that that would happen here the way just how politics works in Chicago that they could be able to have enough money to put a a dome stadium on the lakefront. The Arlington Heights. Yes. I'm just surprised this happens here. That doesn't surprise me because they won't build a stadium if they don't get a dome on it. It has to be able to be used for other events. Do you understand why it seems far-fetched for it to happen here down here the Arlington Heights for me? It's far-fetched to build any stadium down here, but there will be no stadium down here unless it is a dome. There is zero chance. I just can't see that happening here at the lakefront. I can see it at Arlington Heights. Definitely see it there. I'm surprised. Yeah. I would think they'll eventually end up in Arlington Heights. I think it's a massive mistake to put it on the lakefront. Massive. And deal with all the nonsense. Hey, we'd like to put that. No. Sorry. We gave you a stadium and not getting that. Just go where you own the land and do whatever you want. I'd just like to have to do something to your house when they go, "No, you can't do it." No, that would suck, yes. I just want what's best for us as Bears fans, as far as amenities. I mean, you've done the Penguin Walk way too long at Soldier Field. It's not a great spot like it used to be. Why don't go? So, but to be able to spread out, have fun, have all these things, a Bears-centric location that's open 24/7, not just during the Bears season, but all year round to go to Bears Park or whatever it is. That's, I think, makes more sense. Agreed. Instead of, "Well, Bears are done, so see you in August." Well, can I just come and get to the store? No. No. You're not supposed to be on the grounds. No. Sorry. That's, you know, at some point, it's time for change. Correct. So. Correct. Z. Uh, our director of content, Danny Zetterman, just sent me a text cap. We're wondering if Tom Thayer was awake yet. It is 2.0 now, 2.10 now, local time in London, where Tom Thayer is. I believe he is awake. Yes. I was actually being facetious. Where are you? Yes. Okay. Good. It's six hours later there. All right. Let's get to the, yeah, the next one here. So, we got a little bit of a group chat with some of the producers here at the station, myself, Shea, Black and Abdullah, Charlie. No, I wonder, I wonder what it looks like on that for us. Yeah. It must be ugly. It looks good. It's glowing praise. I was hoping for that show. Those two idiots. Yeah. Guarantee. It must be ugly. Jaymore, you're on that? Absolutely not. Love you, Jaymore. That's right. That's right. On brand. Go ahead. You're saying Kevin. Oh, is that on brand? I don't know what you're implying there. Uh, anyway, you know, we, we like to banter with one another, talk a little trash as you do with your friends, you know, about sports, other things. So last Saturday, the Tigers were down, I believe, five nothing early to the Cleveland Guardian. So I send a text in this group chat and say, hey, Tigers are looking good. Next thing I know five minutes later, you have been removed from this group chat. What? Shot or no shot. Shea as soft as hell for not being able to take the banter and kicking me out of the group chat. That's a shot. Wait a minute. You're complimenting the Tigers. Were you not? No, they were down five. Nothing. I was talking trash. Oh, well, that situation you do not remove you. He needs to just put his phone down. Oh, wow, Kevin. That's something. I did not know that. Or come back at you. Like, yeah, that's what I wanted. I want to don't want to joust like if we fire on the Jayhawk about Kansas, he comes back at you. I don't know if he's soft. I just think that, you know, it's a very sensitive time for Shane Orling. He hasn't seen his Tigers in this situation in a long time. And so do you take offense to it, Kevin? I think that's the question. No, I don't take offense to it at all. He can react. However, he wants to react or however he would like to, but what I do take offense to since you bring it up, I didn't hear Shea say one thing about the Tigers from about March up until about the last week of September. And now all of a sudden, he's got the mascot suit on. He's waving his pom poms around like he's Mickey Tettleton or something. I just want some consistency. I want you to keep the same energy from March through September. You can't go dark for 99% of the season and then hop back on the Motor City bandwagon, Seamus. That's not how it works. Wow. That's outstanding. That's very good. That's very good. Yeah. I mean, I think he should be allowed to be back on the text chain, I believe, to be removed like that. Add yourself. Yes. Can you do that? No, you cannot. That would be the Wild West. Well, who's the grand poo by the create the wise Shay get to determine that? Well, I think anybody in the the chat can add or remove anybody at any time. There's not like a vote on a leader or anything like that. I see. Great. All right. No, I think you should be added back because I believe that your your your comic comedic timing, I think it would be good for that chat. Correct. So I would call them Mickey Tettleton. You hear that? Wow. If he even knows who he is, can you squeeze it one more, sir? Yeah, I can squeeze in one more here. We've got some situations going out with the New York Jets. Of course, this week with the missile of Robert Salah, Aaron Rodgers came on Pat McAfee tank top hour yesterday to say he had nothing to do with it, of course. You know, don't blame me. I just work here. It seems like my entire adult life, this situation in New York has never really been good for the football jets. We as Bears fans, we talk a lot about getting a bad a bad rap here or a bad luck with the quarterback situation. It seems like the Jets have kind of that same issue, at least they have as long as I've been around. And it seems like it stems a little bit deeper with the Jets. So shot or no shot, the Jets are the most dysfunctional franchise in the national football league. Hmm. Wow. The Jets. Well, the only thing who else would be this fun, like the Bears aren't dysfunctional, they just haven't been very good. Correct. Because Carolina has been a bit dysfunctional. I think they're in the team photo for sure. Browns. Browns are dysfunctional. Hmm. Um, those would probably be the two that would jump out at me. Giants. Okay. Maybe they're just not very good. Oh, they're like the Bears. Yeah. Uh, the Raiders for jeez, for years, there's always something that changed the quarterbacks again, Cap. O'Connell's in now. Ain't no count on Lynn. John Hermitch who to the bench. I would probably about Browns jets. If I said Browns and jets, I think the Jets are the most dysfunctional and probably the most poorly run. I think that's right. I agree. When the owners that puts out there that I fired, they had coach me alone, which is not true. Um, that's, that says a lot, you know, outside of Jerry Jones, we got to get away for these metal, some owners, man, this is a, this is a common place in the seventies and eighties. You know, you have multiple owners making these big sweeping changes as if they knew what's best for their team, not allowing general managers to generally manage their team. But my God, man, it's unbelievable. But if you buy something for that much money, you got the right to do what you want, man. So a sidebar, maybe I approach. Yes, brought to you by Anken law, three, one, two, six million for the great Howard Anken. So my ball, folks, this is the second time that my partner has looked up at the screen and want to get this floodlight for his house. He did it yesterday at the same time. He doesn't realize the commercials come out at the same time. He's writing on his, yes, you did this yesterday. This bionic floodlight. I have one. You do. You never asked me, but I have one and it's fantastic. It's better than their usual, the regular lighting in the garage. It's fantastic. Serious. It's like, no, I'm serious. It's like lights up. I see that. I've seen that ad for two years. Yes. Never bought it. I've got to get this by and you'll forget it. And I was out. Okay. I take the dog out at like 10 to five every morning. Yeah. The puppy. Yeah. The like four of the last 10 times, there's been a skunk outside, a skunk. I don't want to get sprayed. When I read online, it said, make sure you have a bright flashlight or a bright light and it will repel them. They'll go away. They don't want to be in the light. Okay. So I keep seeing this ad. I'm like, ah, I forgot to write that down. So I saw it over my, over your shoulder. I'm like, I'm writing that phone number and tell them a call after the show. I mean, it's just, it's just amazing. I, you saw, you did this yet. I didn't say anything. And now it comes up. Oh, I got to remember that. Because I couldn't remember where I wrote it cap. It's a tremendous light. I'm going to buy it. It lights up more than your, just your garage. It's that good. So yes, you should get it. The bionic floodlight. Yes. Yeah. Bionic floodlight.com. So the people upstairs on seven, you should call them. They should be a partner with us. What is the skunk saying? All is love and fair and war. It is me. I admire her mind too. Like pepula pew. Yes. You would speak. I do not want to get sprayed. I thank God I've never had that happen. And I want my dog to get sprayed. Your lips, they say no, but your eyes say yes. Pepe le pew. Of course, in 2024, that's probably out of bounds. The stuff he was doing because he was sexually assaulting the other skunk. Wow. You do recall this, right? You do. He's getting too close. He was. Back off there. All right, we have got around the NFL, deal breakers at 835, cap and Jhood weekday morning seven to 10. Welcome back. Welcome. Welcome back. Welcome back to Captain Jay Hood on Chicago's home for sports, ESPN Chicago. It both sucks. He sucks. I'm just a fan. I'm not a football about here. I love the Green Bay Packers. The guy is front, but there we go. This is not Detroit, man. This is the Super Bowl. I love winning. He starts to come in. This is a really thickly built guy. I mean, what's the answer you're looking for on these things here. It's time to go around the NFL, right here on the Captain Jay Hood morning show on the ESPN 1000. And streaming on the ESPN Chicago app, still to come over next half hour, deal breakers at 835. All right, guys, on Thursdays here around the NFL, the man sitting in this chair goes over what he would like to see from teams this weekend in the national football league. All right. So let's start with the Bears and the Jaguars, of course, they'll be in London. The Jags finally got off the Schneider last week with a win versus Indy. But I still have no faith in that team in the head coach in the quarterback quite frankly. Meanwhile, yeah, Caleb Williams, the first Bears rookie QB to win three out of his first five starts since, you know, who Craig Frenzel 2004, 20 years ago. Oh, wow. Yeah, hopefully turns out a little bit better than Craig Crenzel. But last week, Caleb beat up a bad Panthers team resulting in his best game so far as a pro and a win that was wrapped up before halftime. We could have got a fade to black moment, honestly, in the second quarter of that game. So what I need to see this Sunday is the Bears taking care of business. You brought it up earlier, Cap. If you want to be taken seriously in this league as a playoff contender, you need to do it all beat up the bad team. So I need to see the pressure continued amount offensively with Shane Walger and Caleb Williams. You need another blowout opportunity against an inferior opponent this Sunday in London. I don't care if they win seven to six. Find a way to win. No, seven to six. I'd be disappointed that we didn't score more. You got to get on that plane for it too. Yeah. By hook or by crook, you got to find a way to beat this team. They're a beatable opponent and then go on your vacations. Enjoy your week off and then let's get back at it. I concur Kevin. All right, Monday night, you've got Buffalo Bills visiting those New York Jets who we talked about a little bit earlier. Robert Salla was unceremoniously, you might say, dismissed this week. And now it is the Aaron Rodgers Show. It's what he always wants. He's got all the attention, all the spotlight on him. He's got all the control now in that locker room. He's got his guy there in Nathaniel Hackett, his buddy still instilled as the offensive coordinator. He's finally gotten what he wants, time to put up or shut up at home. Let's see what the old man has got left. He's got to look a lot better than he did last week. Yeah, I think that that's fair. Absolutely. No more excuses. What no one wants to say out loud is that the Jets offense looked broken last couple of weeks. It does not look good. Yeah, the whole thing is just something was off. Okay, he decides to fire him. You better win now. It's not that they haven't spent money. They've given Aaron autonomy. They've allotted to bring in certain guys. Some have been good. Some haven't. They're a better team than this. They got more talent. Period. They do. When Woody Johnson says in one of the most talented Jets teams that he's been around, that might be the case. But like anything else, Cap, it's about the head coach in the quarterback. Can they be on the same page? And now it's fractured. Like there's no solid in the mix. Aaron Rodgers, I believe that without a question, it's in arguable that he is in the autumn of his career. Now, what's he going to do about it? Like he still has the ability, but can he do it like he used to? I don't know. I told you they're going to beat the bills on Monday. I don't know if that means that they can get it done this season. Oh, no. I think you've got to play it. At his age, it really is about Super Bowl or bust. There is no in between because there's no building with Aaron Rodgers. Either he's going to get it done or he's not. Or the offense are going to get it done in the night because this is not like a young quarterback you build for five years. It's Aaron Rodgers. Yep. He's already at the door. Well, he hasn't gotten it done in terms of winning a Super Bowl since what 2011? That's correct. And he's going to be 41 in a couple months. I mean, he was still efficient, but I think he's still a rust, man, from being out that whole year. Well, when you're that old, rust is no good. What rust might be something else? ayahuasca is supposed to clear out that rust. It's like a rust-oleum, isn't it? That clears the cobwebs. Was it the ayahuasca? Didn't he say he did acid down somewhere and on a beach with his friends? Yeah. He's going up that third eye and get a little bit more field vision, I think. You know what, Kevin? You know what it comes down to? You know what it comes down to? He's not serious enough about football. It's not. It's about everything else. Aaron? Yep. Oh, I disagree. I think he's all in on football. I just think he's getting old. I thought it was about football. He said this place has got to be more about football, and then he goes to Egypt? Then he goes on a trip, and then he's got a documentary, and then he's got a book, and then he's got McAfee. Well, where's the football fitting in this? We're doing McAfee about the VP bid almost. When's it going to be about football, Cap? See? I got a laundry list for you. Yeah. And you got, I love Aaron Rodgers. I do. I like it. That's all you've got. I've got the laundry list, though, of things that's not, has that to do with football? I think he's pretty damn committed to football. I do. All right. I do. Don't forget also about the jewelry company as well. The jewelry company. Rodgers and Holland. Oh, wow. Poor now and forever. You do call that, right? And then Aaron Rodgers sticking his beak in there. You hear him the other day talking about Robert Salah? Horrible. What he had to say about Robert Salah. Did you hear it? Yeah. He said I had nothing to do with his firing. You know, he said about how Aaron Rodgers was responsible for the Jets losses. Just listen to what that bald-headed imbecile said about me after the Vikings came. Think about that. I mean, what kind of teammate is that? I can't believe he said this. I would say. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Aaron Rodgers. Wow. Here's Kevin Zepack. Kevin. All right. We all headed in this game. You heard that. People have said that about me. What? No, but I mean, it was undeserved for Robert Salah from Aaron Rodgers standpoint. Robert Salah was getting in my way. Wow. Opening his mouth to the media about how Aaron Rodgers was responsible for the Jets losses. Just listen to what that bald-headed imbecile said about me after the Vikings came. Kevin? All right. We got Washington at Baltimore this weekend. And of course, we mentioned Jane Daniels. He's been fantastic for the commanders this season, but he's got a very, very tough test this Sunday as Washington visits Baltimore. Washington's four-on-one, but their only loss this year was against Tampa. Coincidentally, that was the only team Washington has played that currently owns a 500 record. I need to see Jane Daniels get it done against a real team this Sunday. I'm not saying he's not talented. He's obviously very, very talented. I don't want to get into the whole reliving the first pick. I mean, if the Bears made the wrong pick, that's preposterous to me. It's too early. But I need to see Jane Daniels establish himself against a real opponent this Sunday against Baltimore team who defensively has not quite been there this season offensively. They've been spectacular defensively. They step back a little bit. So there might be a window, but that's still a good team with a lot of talent. Jane Daniels is a prove it game where I'm coming from. What do you think? Jane Daniels is just a big, big statement game. If he plays well against Baltimore, puts up big numbers, that would be incredible. Incredible. Is that Baltimore cap? Yeah. That's a must-see game. That will be a good one. You know what? It is a must-see for you and I and the rest of us in Chicago because the Bears games at 8.30. Correct. 8.30 and then you roll into a Commander Raven. Correct. 8.30, what time does our pre-game start? 6 o'clock. 3 a.m. 6 o'clock. Yeah. So 6 a.m. I was going to say, are we starting at like 4 a.m.? Yes. 6 o'clock. And then you go to the Bear game and then we'll have Yurko and Peggy. We'll have the post-game coverage. We'll have Caleb and Coach Ebert Flus before they talk to the media. Correct. So we'll have a lot for you to do here. And then you can saunter over to the Red Zone or whatever's on TV after that. Commander Raven at noon. That's going to be great. I'm looking forward to it. Yeah. Go Raven. In the afterglow of a Bears victory. I hope you're right. How about that, Kevin Z-Pag? It sounds good to me. I love the afterglow. Morning glow afterglow. Soul glow. Thank you. Coming up. Coming up. Coming up. Coming up. Deal breakers. You also like soul play right here on Kappa Jhood. We're so low. [BLANK_AUDIO]
