This is Mule 2, Ears Edition, your daily dose of Alamo Heights Junior School news updates and needs to know. From the first bell to the last class, Mule 2, Ears Edition has you covered from ear to ear. Good morning, Mules. I'm Quinn. And I'm Ginger. Today is October 10th. Remember, the pep rally is this morning, so be ready and we're all pink today. And don't forget, it is the four-day weekend, so don't come to school Monday or tomorrow. Great. And don't forget about the 2025 Washington, D.C. and New York City Tripp informational meeting on November 4th at 5.30 p.m. in the A.H.J. as auditorium. If you're already signed up, no need to go to the meeting. Good to know. Is there any odyssey of the mind practices coming up soon? Yes, on Tuesday morning from 7.30 to 8.15 at the Woodbridge auditorium and they'll walk you back to the junior school. Great. We'll be right back after this break. Hey, did you know that this month is Hispanic Heritage Month? No, I didn't. When does it start? Hispanic Heritage Month starts on September 16th to October 15th. What is Hispanic Heritage Month? Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the cultural heritage of people from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America and those with ancestors from these regions. Are there any famous people of Hispanic descent? Yes, a lot of people actually. Can you give me some examples? I'm sure you're familiar with Rita Cola, who is Hispanic. I don't remember who she is. Would you mind telling me about her? Yes, Rita Cola was a wonderful Mexican painter. One of her most famous paintings is called the Two Fritas. She sadly passed away on July 13th, 1954. Is there anybody else? Eleanor Choa is another person who should be on the list. She was the first Hispanic woman to go to space. She also played the flute while she was in space, which is pretty cool. That's cool. What are some fun facts about Hispanic Heritage Month? Hispanic Heritage Month started in 1968 under President Lyndon Johnson when it was a one week event. President Ronald Reagan expanded it to a 30 day period in 1988. Wow, that's so awesome. Thanks for teaching me all this. No problem. I hope you learned. And we are back. Isn't there a volleyball game tonight? Yes, 8th grade is playing at the Mule Jump and 7th is playing at Medina Middle School. 8th white is playing at 4-15, gold is playing at 5 o'clock and blue is playing at 6 o'clock. Perfect. Attention to students interested in UIL science competition. Practices are on Monday afternoons from 4-15 to 5 in Missicosis room or 1-20. Isn't UILW giving away free football tickets for family night? Yes, any A-H-I-S-D student has a chance to get a free football game tickets for a family night on October 12 at 6 p.m. Chair on the Cardinals and the special student family and staff section. Great. What was the answer yesterday's riddle? The riddle was, "Ford, I'm heavy, but backward, I'm not. What am I? The word not." What's today's riddle? Today's riddle is, "What has words but never speaks." I don't know. The answer would be revealed on tomorrow's podcast. Have a great day, Mules. And don't forget to be amazing. [MUSIC]
