I was on mute. I was saying, "Good morning. Good morning. Good morning." The Dom's getting arrested right now. Let's go. Good morning, buddy. How are we doing? How are you feeling? Uh, feeling okay. Hoping the humples of this sickness, um, but, you know, we're here. It's a little tough getting up this morning, but we got out there. Oh, man, I'm glad you got out there. I saw you walking. I saw you walking. You're getting it in. Okay. My goodness. Yeah, I posted the video just now. Like, just, I keep forgetting, man. I keep like, I keep going on these walks and I keep wanting to take a video, but, um, one of those people that doesn't like to, like, video and take pictures, like, very publicly, you know, when I like to, like, I like to make it a decent-looking video, and, you know, just all kinds of stuff going in with that, with that saying. And so I'll, I'll not do them sometimes, and then I'll forget, and then I'll be like, "Dang it. Now I gotta go on just like another walk to do a video just to post it." You know, like, and again, it's not for anything other than, like, the competition and the extra two points, but, you know, whatever, like, so I'm just like, "Oh, I'm just gonna post it, say something, put it out there, just get it done," that kind of thing. Do it. No, it's in here. I think it's a great practice of just, uh, I'm just making sure that it happens. Wait a second. I see this. Nate, I need your, Nate, Nate, do I have your attention? Nate, I think I got it. Nate, are you, are you okay? I heard, like, God damn it. Well, he's bringing up Vegemite saying, "I need a spoonful of Vegemite to help me kick this, kick this, uh, whatever it is." Well, I mean, let's, let's be honest, he wasn't saying it. Was he? Wasn't it? Oh, yeah. Wasn't it, never mind. David, David was saying it. Wait, hold on. I have a question. I was in Whole Foods. It was in the story yesterday. Uh, no, two days, whenever it was. And for some reason, they don't carry Vegemite, but they're very willing to carry, to carry Marmite. Why, why would a store be carrying Marmite and not Vegemite? I'm so curious. I need to know, and I think this could start some sort of Vegemite, Marmite war between the Aussies and then the, uh, between the Aussies and the, uh, New Zealanders that we call them. Is there another name? The Cubies? Is that, is that what they are? Oh, sure. I need it. Nate, I need the answer. You're more than welcome to let us know. Anyway, we're there. Uh, all right. So, Whole Foods, our backs, are they? I don't, I don't know. I don't know if this is true. It could be, but I still, I still have, I still have my Vegemite. I've eaten on screen before. Well, yeah. Um, yeah. Yeah, I did it the other day. I think someday or something like that, when you were camping, it was, it was bad. Wait, what was that? Vegemite? You ate it? Yeah. I was just like, just like a tiny, uh, quarter of a spoon or whatever. Just, just straight out of the can, right here on Twitch. It was bad man. And it was like, it's stuck with me for a better part of the day. Like, I was like rinsing my mouth out, like doing all kinds of stuff, trying to get that taste out of there. Wait, hold on. I feel like I have to stand up a little bit for Vegemite because Vegemite on its own. Like, let's think of something else. Let's think of, uh, I don't know why it was on my mind, maybe it's because my kid eats this, but it's like the same thing with like ranch powder. My, my daughter loves to eat carrots with like ranch powder. Like we have like, you know, the Hidden Valley ranch powder and we put it in like a little bowl and she dipped her, her carrot in there and then she eats it, right? So she gets some of that ranch in there. We don't really make it into like a dressing. But if, if someone were to take a mouthful, like a spoonful of ranch powder and put their mouth, they're going to, it's going to be gross. But if you prepare it well and eat it, right? It's good. Same thing with, with Vegemite. Now, Vegemite on a piece of toasted bread with butter and not overdoing the Vegemite tastes pretty decent, I must say. And I mean, I will eat anything as long as I know it benefits my health. And so I feel like Vegemite can be there, but you got to do it right. Yeah. I mean, to be fair, I said that, but like, I was like, well, I just want to taste what pure Vegemite tastes. Like, and see why people, see why people talk so much crap about it. It tastes like, you know what it tastes like to me? Tell me, tell me if this hits home. It tastes like someone pooped on a bunch of pennies and you put the pennies in your mouth. That's what it tastes like. All right. So little about that. I can't imagine what that is. It's what it is. It's better. That's better. If somebody asked me what Vegemite tastes like, I'd say poop pennies. It tastes like poop pennies. So that's, that's all I got. Anyway, gratitude. What we got for gratitude today, you know, we're going to do also, because we're here and you say we're going to do it, and then Blaze didn't want to show up and do it. We're going to, we're going to try some of these today. Where am I at? We're going to, we're going to try and ginger shots, because there's enough research behind it to show that it does help the mucosal lining of your throat, and it can actually protect you from rhinobirus. So I would like to make sure that we do that. And I'm, this is going to taste better than poop pennies, I believe, but we'll see. I never know what to try. Do you, do you, do you do those often? Like do you look like a part of the thing that you do anything like that? No, because they're like $5 a shot. So it's like, to me, it's like, no, although, no, I don't. I mean, like it'd be beautiful if I did, but I got to be honest. Whenever I buy a bunch of ginger, I'll do it for like two days, then it's my counter and just rise out. So like, I'm not going to, I'm not going to de-ex myself. I figured you'd have some like jar of like fermented, like super foods that you just pour into a shot and take it every day. I love the idea of what my kitchen might look like, but it's not so much like that. But I do, I do have these. And then later today on health dads, we're going to, I am going to at least, we're going to, we're going to talk about some canned salmon, we're going to talk about some canned mackerel. And then we're also going to see, we're going to taste that, which one's going to taste better between any of these. So that might be a little bit more like what my kitchen is going to look like, but we'll see. Pull over the place. Where are you outside? Did you get to go outside? No, man. I hadn't, I hadn't really thought about it this morning. Do you have one while I take a second to think? Yeah, yeah, I do. I will say that my gratitude right now has been, I don't know what exact, I can't really form it into the best message, but I've been, I've been really appreciating lately my, um, oh, my focus on being able to kind of get a health message out and a little bit differently and the consistency with Brofit and hopping into health dads. And it's been just really helpful for me. And just like mentally, so I've been really, I've been definitely loving that. So that's definitely where I've been. So yeah, that's, that's my gratitude. Yeah, okay. That sounds good, man. Yep. Yeah, mine is probably going to be the walks. I'm really enjoying the walks. Some of all my due in, in peace and quiet, nothing in my ear. Um, and just kind of like let my mind wander. Others, I have a book on tape, others, I'll, you know, call a friend or call a, uh, like a networking person, like an architect or someone like that. But yeah, I'm really enjoying getting out there and just having that, that time where I'm not in the office distracted by emails. Um, yeah, it's good. I'm enjoying them. You're also saying, would you say yesterday, you said that you were glad that you were sick and not at home, that you were, um, outside at home, right? Yeah. Yeah, it's a little bit easier to be sick in a secluded place than to be sick with your wife and kids. Cause, you know, I want to be with them and, you know, like, I can't, you know, like that's the whole reason why God's sick is like my son was sick and like, I wanted a distance myself, but, you know, he wouldn't let me. Um, and that's fine, you know, like I, I firmly believe in like, you know, be close with your, your young ones and cuddle them as much as you can until they get to a point where they never, you know, they're teenagers and they don't want to sit next to you anymore. Cause I have one of those too. Um, and then also just the fact that like, you know, I'm feeling a little like low, a lot lower energy at the end of the day. And, you know, they can be a little like demanding, like a little demanding, you know, like, and there's just less stuff that I have to take care of when I'm just alone at the end laws. So put more on my wife, but, you know, my center, the nice message and she and I have been on the phone having good conversations. So she's, she's good. Her parents came out the other day and hung out with her and helped her out. Do you guys ever have, um, the conversations about you kind of taking that time away to go work and obviously you're working, so you're doing something there. Um, but I feel like you're such a good communicator. And I always see you as such a stellar guy. Is that communication with your wife? Um, definitely something that is, um, I guess my question is more like, how is it talking about being away and working outside home like you are? It's, it's, uh, it's a miss. Like, we definitely have communication issues. That's like one of our number one things that we are, you know, always something we're working on. So we're, we're, we're touching base with each other like a couple times a day. Um, like she has these empty pockets in her day where she'll call me and, um, you know, I try to pick up the phone every chance that I get or call her back. Uh, and then I'm just trying, you know, I just basically just talk, talk about everything that's been going on with her and the kids. So I'm kind of like somewhat knowing what they're doing and how everything's going. Um, and then like for a while there, I was staying out here every day of the week. Uh, you know, like kind of like how I am this, this week, but this week's a little different because her parents came out and I was sick. So it made sense. And then she, she, she kind of told me that it was too much. So, you know, it came up with a different, different kind of plan where I would just stay out here every other night. Um, so I'm on kind of like, I'm trying to get back on that. Yeah. Uh, David, I think that's David, right? Yeah. FaceTime is, is pretty clutch. Oddly enough, my wife's phone and I've, I've checked her settings. I think it's just, you know, I don't know if anyone else has this, but my wife is, she just has this weird thing where like tech, her and technology, like there's just bugs. So she can't FaceTime for some reason. She has the new iPhone. She's the same one I do. Uh, our girls have like a less than like a 13 or something like that. I can FaceTime the girls. The girls can FaceTime me, but like my wife can't FaceTime anything and I've checked the settings. So yeah, I got to FaceTime the kids the other day, my daughter's phone. They showed me, oh, this was something I want to talk about. We got beta fish a while ago. Oh, yeah. We've never done the beta fish thing. My son really. I never did. But I obviously know what it is. And by the way, where is, uh, where's form chaos? Where's our fish man? Is that here or here? Yeah. So we got, we got these beta fish and we got two of them and we put like a divider in the tanks because they like, you know, you can't really have them together, I think. And they both died, like they like fish do. And then just the other day, when I was on, when I was on call with them, the kid, one of the kids goes, um, I think there's like babies or something in the tank. And what my wife found at it and Googled it. And we have like 40 to 50 little fish babies swimming around in the dang tank. Wow. I don't know. Good job. What a great environment you guys created. I mean, the dang tank has been like straight up green some days, like the whole thing, like, and we've cleaned it and everything. But like, it might be like having being a fish baby. So I'll just, I'll put them in bags and mail them on tall to be that. See me your address. I'll send you a fish egg. Maybe they all have to go to Colorado just to make sure that they can be taken care of. They need to who knows, uh, no, to, to, to David to form chaos. Oh, he's out there too. Okay. Gotcha. Yeah. It's got to be there. I wanted to go back for a second here. We're talking gratitude, which I definitely love just to give some love to the couch. And if you are listening in for your first title over here, the couch is our chat. And, uh, these are our OGs, our amazing people. And I just want to say this is that if you are just, if you're listening along on your walk or just that, you know, getting your coffee ready for the day, I just want to say that you are a different kind of person. You are someone who is just, uh, really focusing on your overall mindset and health and family. So thank you for being you. And if you ever want to join the chat line, guys with the couch live, please head over to, uh, please head over to, um, Twitch because we are there right now. We have most of our people checking in on daily dads, a few over on, uh, X in a few places there. So thanks for checking in. Uh, but Nate, um, seen over here, gratitude taking time and battling the mental demons part of this week. So having quiet the past few days to try and reset gets the bottom of the issues consuming. Nate, I am just wishing you all the clarity possible and the time that you need to get that together. Please just let us know if there's definitely something that we can support you with because you want to make sure that you're not feeling like you're alone. So, uh, we'd love to make sure that, um, you know, we'd use this space as a space to share. Uh, and you know, we're not just talking about our lives. We want to make sure that we're caring about all you guys. So we have that carrying camel. Thanks for showing up as well. Nice to see you in here. Um, a few other, uh, points. Um, first, Jason, thank you so much for sharing that gratitude too. Good energy is always, is always, uh, good. Uh, Nathan's been talking about fondling sheep and raw jogging a bunch in the chat this morning. So thank you, Nate, for the colorful conversation. Um, always a good time. Uh, it's, uh, good. So guys, uh, let's get into, uh, the bread and butter. We do. I've been saying bread and butter a lot lately. I don't know why, just, well, I guess it is just easy, but we're going to get our daily meditation going from Ryan Holliday. And again, if you were checking in for your first time, Ryan Holliday, I don't have my book with me, two days in a row, uh, but I got my reading done and Ryan Holliday, uh, the daily dad, uh, a daily meditation that Dom had turned us on to. It's why he's here. Dom is our resident stoic and Dom kick us off. What's going on today? We got a little bit of throw. Yeah. It's titled, let's get to the bottom of it. So this one's again about stoking the curiosity of our kids and, you know, um, it tells a story of, wasn't thrown in class, where someone was, you know, just the kids were just saying like, what's, what's, I wonder what those noises are. And like, instead of just saying it's frogs, that's move on to the lesson. Like, you know, went out there and caught a couple of them and showed the kids and, I mean, all that kind of stuff. So it's, you know, it's just, it's a, it's a good lesson. Like, like, kind of like all these lessons are this month is just basically like leaning into the curiosity of your kids and, and, and not necessarily taking like the, the quick road and explaining to them, but more like having them ask more questions, get more curious, talk more about it, show them things, take them places, you know, just basically like double clicking and diving deeper on, on everything. Yeah. Um, and in case you guys don't have it right now, and I'm always happy to share. I think I could probably get sued right now if I was, someone saw me showing this, I don't know if that's the case, but if you guys haven't checked out, the daily dad definitely can, but, um, some really good stuff and maybe we can do this more often, but a great little quote from Thoreau right there. Um, talking about, uh, talking about frogs and, uh, really, um, letting these kids discover everything about them. As I figure this out, I'm thinking about what it was that was said that I love the most. Um, but I definitely feel like, you know, Ryan Holiday always wraps these things up so well. And I think that what hit me is that, this part right here is that we are always busy, um, and that we usually know the answers. And so, I think, and this has been something, especially in the, in the, in the, the, the, the, the friend's world for me is like, just staying even more furious. Curious train has been something I've been really kind of leaning into a bunch and just keeping kind of questions coming and, you know, not thinking that I know what someone is going to say or what they're already thinking, but really making sure that it's something that, you know, why are they thinking this way? Like, if I think that my kid did something on purpose, they likely didn't, right? So, um, understanding it or me trying to kind of teach my kid, uh, you know, what they should have done or what I think that they already know or what they don't know. So I think just the idea of like, we can get so busy that we forget to slow down and just really listen and then be able to help the kids kind of figure it out themselves. Um, because it's easy. It's, it's easy to move things faster. It's harder to slow things down. Uh, and I thought today's, um, message was, uh, really helpful for that being a reminder. So just want to make sure that, you know, if you guys haven't checked out any of these meditations, you guys can always look at it and happy to send you any of these pictures beforehand if you guys want to jump into it. But I liked it today. I thought it was good. Do you feel like you're a good teacher? Do you think you're staying furious with your kids most of the time? Somewhat. Um, you know, I do, I do find myself a lot of the times, uh, getting distracted by whatever it is, you know, or, you know, the hopeless addiction that brought us all here, which is be friends and everything they do. Um, so I, I, I find myself getting distracted in that. So I'll, you know, kind of try to set myself up with like a little timer or something like that, put my phone down or just, you know, just one more, one more comment in, and then I'll go do something with the kids. But yeah, I think I'm decent enough at it. Oh, hey, Blaze. I'm pretty good. There's a car, boys. You're never late. You're never late. You're always on time. Whenever you show up, it's a good day. Just kick something and broke something. Appreciate it. Uh, Blaze, you want to share some gratitude? Um, what is some gratitude? I, how are you right now coming into this? Are you, are you good? Yeah, I'm good. Um, I thought I was sick last night, but I just think I ate too much popcorn. So I'm okay. So there's my gratitude. I've had that, I've had that stomach ache. Because the kids have their, um, getting a skull picnic yesterday and they give out bags of popcorn. And it's like the kettle corn that's kind of sweet. And I just like, that's a week of time. So there you go. Well, awesome. Oh, it's okay. It wasn't like regular popcorn. Wait, what is the best pop? What's that, what's, what's that popcorn from Chicago? You know what I'm talking about? It's like sweet and then cheesy and then plain buttery. Oh, yeah, tripod. Is that it? I feel like I definitely over eaten that before. Made it. You need to go grab a ginger shot to settle your stomach. Speaking of which, that's a good idea. Oh, speaking of which, which, what should I do? Should I do left, left hand or right hand? Left hand. This one? Yeah. Fiery ginger. Is that what it says? Fiery ginger. Let's, let's back out a little bit. So we can take a look at this. Fiery ginger. All right. So this should help my immunity. So apparently what it does, it helps, it helps like the mucosal lining, everything in your, in your throat to get what it was. It had the research out just before exactly like what the mechanism of action was. But let's try it. Now, the thing is warm. It's usually cold, but let's see what happens. What's that? Hold on. Let me see. We got, oh, it's mainly orange juice. It's orange juice ginger tea, citrus. Oh, there's the black pepper, black pepper extract. Is that usually what it is? Don, you kept saying that. I don't know. All the ones that I've had and I've only had three, they didn't read the ingredients before I got them. And it just felt like I was drinking black pepper. Baby ginger. Yeah. Yeah. That hurts a little bit. It's, it tastes mainly like pepper. It doesn't taste like ginger whatsoever. There's no sweetness to it. What's this one like? Well, turmeric, is that one better? Oh my God, I got to wash this out of my mouth now. Wait, am I, I think I'm going to have super immunity. If I take both, though, let's say ginger, turmeric, cayenne, and it's gonna be hot. Oh my God. It tastes like feet. That means you've tasted feet. Well, earlier he was telling us about how he's, how he's tasted dog poop pennies. Dog poop pennies. What is it? What is it? It's the cayenne was the only thing in the royal, what is, what is royal jelly? Someone know what that is. I just drank royal jelly. I don't know what that is there. And the aliens. Those are both gross. And the aliens prize the mother alien produces royal jelly. I don't think that's the royal jelly that it's referring to. Goodness. Well, Andrea, is it Andrea or is it Andrea? Thanks for showing up. Appreciate that. Yeah, these shots. I, I would make my own. I would make my own now. And I think David has had the idea, David put it up somewhere. So David said he, David said he makes his own ginger. I don't know if that, he ever said you're reading that. I don't know which one was worse. No, definitely the feet that I would not buy this one again. I would, I would have to go with that one. That one would definitely be it. So anyway, now, now that I'm super human and my immunity is boosted to know. It should be good to go. Hey, please, did you end up reading today at all? Any, any meditation? Um, I did just listen to it right before I jumped on. And so it actually, every day that I love these meditations, but one thing I'm trying to work on with some of my kids right now is how to be a good friend. And it's a lot of me coaching them on like be kind to people, do things for people, call people, text people. Well, don't do those things. You don't have a phone. But like, how does someone get a good friend? And it made me realize that like my kids don't really see me being a good friend. And so trying to think how I can show them more of me being a good friend. Because like, I think I'm a good friend to you guys about, I have a mental block that I don't have a lot in common with the other dads in the city that I live. Um, because they don't like be friends, they don't want to come over and you know, like pop minis. Uh, so I, I'm trying to think how can I do that? And from the other perspective, it always brings my mind to do I need to try and schedule more play dates for them. But there's a lot of emotional stuff there to deal with too. So do you think that there's something I feel like my mind is like where you felt like you couldn't connect with other dads or you don't have anything in common with other dads and you'll or, um, in your community over there? But I always think that you're such a personable guy. And I think that you're also someone who's incredibly, um, friendly and I think you're curious. And I think that you're someone who is really just putting themselves out there to make sure that someone really feels good about really who they are and what they do. Um, kind of blows my mind a little bit. I wouldn't have known that you didn't feel like you can connect other dads in your, in your, in your community. Well, I think most of them are five, 10, 15 years older than me. Um, I think my wife and I have like a reverse relationship where she's the breadwinner and I'm like, I support, I'm the like more the kids manager than my wife or as like 90% of the dads here aren't. And so, um, and they all golf and golf. So I think like, but again, like, there's still common threads. But I think probably if I really had a thing, it's a lot of these people have grown up in this community together and they've known each other their whole lives. Rive only lives here two years. And like, it's just, I don't know how much work I want to put good to penetrate these like social circles of to do. I love that you shared that. Thank you so much. It looks like Nate's kind of feeling the same way over there. Um, and I think that's a really good. And Jason says that, um, you are that you guys are the butter winners. I think that's I think that's a great way to look at it. Bread and butter goes together all the time. So, uh, if that's the case, I just can point it. Uh, great topic for another day. I know we're at time right now. We're always keeping this at 30 minutes. It's 9 a.m. over here. It is 6 a.m. over on the west coast down. It's going to get a great sunrise. It's going to get a few more steps in right now. Um, and, uh, I think it was a great conversation. I think, um, I, I always, I, I always love a good throw example. It's always good. We got this pumping over there. Guys, we got a lot going on. We're really excited. We have the, uh, we have the V friends car to coming up. Um, teaching our kids, I would love to do alive. What time is it coming out? Does anyone know the deal on Monday? It's, it's actually a week from Monday. I want to say it comes out at 8 a.m. because I remember looking at it and thinking, okay, maybe I have like, it's missed the bus and we watched together as soon as it comes out. And then I drive into school. Um, that's from my mind. Yeah, got it. I would love, I would love to do a, um, mountain time doesn't really exist. It confuses me, Jason. So I don't think that you exist. Um, I would love to do like a live, a live, like a watch party. I feel like a watch party would be fun. But obviously, I think with the kids, that would be even better. Um, I'm just curious though, if it releases here at 8 a.m. Does that mean it releases in California at the same time? Or does it, well, it's YouTube, right? So to assume, I don't know. Good question. Yes, I assume it does. They don't ever take that into account. Oh, are you okay? No, I'm not. I hate translating everything into ESD. It is. You know what? I'll, I'll tell you there was a, there was a project that I was a part of. It was Tom Billie's project, which was the person who wanted to get nailed by the, uh, the feds. Um, but, uh, he was, he was West Coast the whole time. And it, I had, it was like, the worst thing to have to figure out, like when, like the groups were getting together. Anyway, neither here nor there. That doesn't matter right now, but we love all of our West Coast and our mountain people anyway, guys. Um, let's leave it there for today. We'll show, we'll be back here tomorrow. And, uh, if you guys want to show up for health dads, health dads will be at 130 Eastern today, uh, 10, 30 mountain time and we'll, there's two different mountain times. There's like, I don't understand it, but anyway, I'm just going to stop job. I think, I think it's time to go. Okay. Bye guys. Love you all. Slide it off. [laughter]
