Listen to the news agents on global players. This is an NBC News radio special report, Hurricane Milton. At least 12 people are dead after Milton rumbled on shore. On Florida's West Coast, Milton made landfall last night as a powerful Category 3 hurricane, bringing torrential rain, powerful winds, and several tornadoes. Governor Ron DeSantis said Milton was significant, but wasn't the worst-case scenario that forecasters feared. The damage, however, in many areas is extensive. Bill Logan is Manatee County Information Outreach Manager. Manatee County is not far from where Milton made landfall. There's still a lot of power out there. I mean, 79% of the pre-co customers, or Peace River Electric Cooperative, are without power. And about 73% of FPL customers in the county are still without power.
