Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says search and rescue efforts are continuing after Milton slammed into the state last night. We're continuing supporting search and rescue operations as of this afternoon. At least 340 individuals and 49 pets have been rescued. DeSantis noted power has been restored for 880,000 customers so far. More than 3 million people remain without power. Experiencing Milton on the ground was terrifying. That's what Floridian Dan Maddox said after he wrote out the storm in St. Petersburg, saying the storm featured some of the strongest winds the region has experienced in recent memory. Herman may come a little bit close, but feeling the wind, this is definitely a wind effect. And there's just no other way to describe it. So far, Hurricane Milton has left at least 11 people dead.
