I'm joined by Joe, um, none other than lovely Joe. Hello, just me. Girls only tonight. Yeah, this morning or whatever. Yeah, girls have gone wild. We've gone rogue and we've gone absolutely solo. The boys got their own pod. So, um, we got our own pod. Let's see how it goes. Yeah. No, in all seriousness, Kev was supposed to join us, but he's had to pull out last minute. So we hope obviously everything's okay with him. But so it's just the girls today. And today we are covering off a preview of the weekend's fixture, Newcastle versus Everton. Now I say Everton like that because I'm really sorry that anyone has listened to this, but that is probably the one team. I really, really, really do not like, in fact, I absolutely hate them. I hate their fans and I hate them. So lovely. Um, now we are sitting in, good start. Yeah, nice and negative. So we are sitting nicely in seventh place. I'd say, I think it's been, it's been quite the journey, obviously the last month or two sitting in seventh place, not our best, but particularly not our worst either because obviously we have seen some worse teams. And we are about to go in and face a, I think it's a 16th place, Everton, who I think got their first win last and undoubtedly they have struggled against some really top performing teams and haven't had the best of starts. So, yeah. So Joe, I thought we would just cover off how we, as in me and you are feeling sort of post man city, because obviously that was last weekend. And obviously post Wimbledon as well, because we had a midweek match. And I think from me, the two games, I know it's one to Premier League, one's a cariboule cup. So I know the games are going to be slightly different. I know we're going to line up differently and I know we are going to approach them very, very differently. However, if you ask me how I was feeling left for the man city game, which we done a pod after that, I was buzzing. I thought, you know, that is the Newcastle that we like to see, nice and intense, and it was kind of like the old Newcastle back and the teams that the teams at Newcastle play, they're used to. And we hadn't seen that for obviously a number of weeks. And it was like something to collect and we completely changed. But now if you ask me, obviously we were all out the Wimbledon game as a whole team, as a Newcastle pod team, we were all there. And I think we've all got different opinions, which is fine. I don't think we played a Pauling, but I also don't think we played like we did on the Saturday previous. In fact, I think we looked pretty flat in places. We sort of struggled. I know we dominated possession wise, but I thought we struggled sometimes to sort of string passes together, receive them properly. And I know there was a lot of changes in the team, so I am thinking about that. But you know, it's got me a little bit like for this game, I know he'll approach it a bit differently. But I'm also I'm a bit like how are we going to approach it and how are we feeling going into it? Because for me, I'm a little bit nervous. Ever in I find sometimes our bogey team, we've performed really well, or we perform really bad against them. There's never really an in-between. So how are you feeling about it? We've got to expect that we're going to go back to how we played against Italy surely, go back to the Premier League ways. At the end of the day, the lineup is going to be, well, we'd expect anyway. We'll talk about lineup later on, I suppose, in the pod, but I would expect it to be a lot more like the city game, obviously. There was a lot of changes made for Wimbledon. It was a tough one, wasn't it? Yeah, it was. I never expected like, I think we had a lot of jokes about our two-nail, four-nail, five-nail, six-nail. When I was saying I've got to be honest, I never ever thought it was going to be that kind of level of score. I did honestly think it was going to be a two-nail. I even put a five-a-bet on a two-nail just because I thought it was just a realistic kind of score, especially knowing fine well that there were going to be that many changes, but I think my only disappointment after Wimbledon, I'll be honest, was obviously Kev Blessom. He did the post-match on his own. We haven't really had much chance to talk about it for really, but I think the main disappointment was the fact that anyone who hasn't had a chance to kind of shine or do anything really get the season, Mickey as an example, didn't really then step up, which is weird. I actually read some stuff on social media as you do. Some people slating him as they do, but some people really sing this praises and I thought, well, I'm not going to go as far as slating the guy, but I'm also not going to sing these praises because I don't think he did enough. He wasn't as good as we know Mickey can be. He said to me down at the time, I said, look, we're no, he's peaked. We know we're not going to get the best out of Mickey again. To me, we've had his best. He's not going to hit that. Those heights again, unfortunately. I'd love him too, but I just don't believe he's going to. But then again, the whole kind of team, like you say, we're dominated in possession, but does that not go back to something that we talked about in a previous part? I don't think it was us actually, was it the lads that touched on it about how we do better with when we've got less time on the ball? Yeah. And I think we've discussed this before. I mean, God, look at the Spurs game, where we absolutely smashed them. We only had about 30% of the ball, like in the entire game. So it just shows we are more effective sometimes with less of the ball, less of this kind of messing about. So yes, all right, we had tons of the ball at Wimbledon, but again, it goes back to we didn't do anything with it. No, yeah. It was a massively different game. And I suppose in a way, moving into Evert and we shouldn't really focus too much on Wimbledon, because it's kind of, it's done, we'll move on, we'll know fine well, we're going to set up differently against Chelsea in the next round. So I'm almost thinking of, let's just forget about it, even though I've got to say, met some awesome Wimbledon fans in the strawberry beforehand. They were cool, there were some really nice guys, and the fair play, they're making that journey. There was a lot of that last minute change, if you think, that one like 1500 of them came up. Yeah, they respected them for that as well. Yeah, absolutely. So I think from a Wimbledon perspective after that game, obviously, I just want to touch it on the part, because obviously we haven't all got together as a team. I just did think the difference in performances was it was like watching a completely different in Casaside, which technically I know we were watching nearly like 10 different players, but yeah, it was, yeah, it was one of those and sort of going into the weekend a little bit. Probably like you, forgetting about Wimbledon and expecting us to perform like we did against Man City last weekend, which let's hope we do see against them. I think we'll end that part there, and we shall have the first sponsor, please. Wonderful. Today is first sponsor of Zincaster. Do you have a story to tell that the world needs to hear? Thanks for that, darling. All right, so part one, we covered off how we were sort of feeling going into the weekend post Wimbledon, post Man City, I guess. And then part two, we normally use this part just to like cover off how we think Eddie will approach the game and how we think he will line up. Sometimes we've been bang on, sometimes we've been so far off, it's embarrassing. So yeah, I'll kick this one off as well. I think we're going to see the same side that played Manchester City. I don't think there's going to be any change from that. I don't think there should be. I don't think there should be, to be honest. Not at all. That start on 11, I thought played unbelievable. And again, had that high pressing intense new cast aside that we're so used to seeing nowadays, I thought Sandra O'Tunally, I feel like I'm in like, starting a Sandra Tunally fan club, just myself here because I know I've never loved him, but I'm on the wall with Murphy. You can talk about him every single pod. But I just think he was so massively missed. And that's obviously what we've been missing for so long. He doesn't give anyone any time on that ball. He's constantly closing down, man to man marking. And it's just so nice and refreshing to see. And it's actually really nice to see him come back. And I guess, you know, after the year off that he's had, obviously due to his ban, is actually not really affected in that much. Really? I think he's sort of come and he's like, yeah, I've got a point to prove. So yeah, I'm here. And you know, he's given back to the fans, I think, which is lovely to see. So I actually don't think the team will change much from the man city, the side that face man city, the only thing that I think potentially may change, and I haven't actually seen anything, so this probably makes me a bad fan, is I'm not sure if Alexander Esack's fit, or has he been ruled out now for the season? The last thing I saw is not going to be playing, no. So, and then we've got the international break after that anyway, haven't we? So kind of give him that time to get better. But the last, unless I've missed something today, I saw something yesterday, and I'm going to swap him out of Eddie's mouth as well, to say that realistically, he's not playing the Evan game. So that is fine. It's all right, because again, going back to what you've just said about the city game anyway, we've proven that we're actually, we can be without him. Obviously, we don't want to be without him long term, but we can cope without him, especially, I mean, again, if you can play against city and cope without him, I absolutely expect us to cope against Evan. By the way, going for what you've said, I don't expect to see any changes from city, I mean, however, I do expect a different approach with that team. So as much as the press inside of things, absolutely hope that that happens as well. I don't expect so much of the defensive work. Please, God, don't let that bite is on the backside. You know, when I was talking about big Joe sliding into the back and making a five and stuff, I don't think we're going to need to do that as much. It could be a good tact if they do want to press us and stuff. But what I mean is, we need to do that more against a stronger team like city than I feel we should against a team like Evan. But yeah, I mean, surely there isn't much to change. I mean, Eddie likes keeping his team, we've seen it in the past, sometimes even when they're making mistakes and sometimes whatever, he still likes to kind of sometimes pick the same 11. So if he's going to do that after certain players haven't played well, you can't see him doing it after nobody's really messed up. Nobody deserves to be dropped for that way, did they? So no, I don't think anyone deserves to be dropped from the side that faced Manchester City. The only player, and I don't think you would agree with me on this, I don't think he's had an awful start to the season, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he's at the best that we've seen him. Now I know players go sort of for a dip and things like that, you know, it is to be expected, they can't all perform at a high level constantly. But I've got to be honest, Joey Linton, he's not done much for me, like, it's all right. I do understand and I agree here. Yeah, second half of the Manchester City game, I thought was probably the best he's performed this season and the Southampton game. I thought he had an unbelievable, I think it was a Southampton game. I think he had an awesome game. Yeah, it was then. However, in between sort of that period, I don't think he's been at the best that we've seen him. Do I think Eddie will drop him? No, I don't. I don't think he, because obviously I think he relies on him for a lot more than what we can probably see. But if there was to be a change, maybe, maybe him. But then, I mean, I guess I don't think Joe will actually had the best start either. So no, yeah, it's a difficult one. But I just, I don't think I can't see any changes from that side to be fair, that face Manchester City. So yeah. Well, I think because we've had such a kind of a weird start, all right, the results, like we said, have exactly been tragic, considering we haven't had the strongest to start. Yeah. But at the same time, like you've just said, as much as Big Joe hasn't had the best start of the season, then I agree with it, by the way, I know I love the guy, but you know, you've got to be honest about it. He hasn't, he hasn't hit his high standards in that sense. But then so many others haven't until the last game Bruno hadn't, you know, you could pretty much go through the whole team and say that there's not a single person that's performed amazingly in every game so far. So at any given point, I suppose any of them are switchable. But then like you've said there, do we bring well again who also hasn't been outstanding? There's no single person that would be like that, that person has been amazing every game we played. So yes, all right, that's switchable, but in the same sense, no, because you're switching them out with other people who also aren't performing. So going back to that, let's just say that we reckon he'll stick with the same 11 from City rightly. So in the same positions, I'll be honest, let's hope they do what they did against City as well. And against a weaker team, you know, no disrespect to Everton, but you know, they are competency. Let's hope we smash them quite frankly. And I hope Pigford hasn't unbelievably horrible game to say. Yeah, yeah, me too. This brings me on to Everton because I don't know why this is probably just a personal opinion. I just find them like one of these teams that we either perform really well against or we don't. And I don't know if that's my opinion, it probably is. But no, I don't know if I'm honest, I probably haven't looked back at all the results, but it does feel like that watching it like kind of season in season now. We aren't consistently brilliant against them, put that way. Yeah, they are. I mean, the results are mixed, obviously. We've had quite a lot of draws against them. We have won, I think most of the games. But you know, there's been the odd time where Everton, like last season, have caught us out. So this brings me on to Everton because they have, you know, proved a point last season where they can, they can score against teams like Newcastle and, you know, we were our Champions League side last year and they still beat us three now. I'm not saying they didn't deserve to beat us three now, but you know, they have proved that they can, when they really want to and play good football, they can catch. I mean, I know we particularly won our best at all. So I think this just sort of brings me on to, you know, yes, okay, they're not performing the best and they're not having the best start to the league, but they have got players to watch out for. And we've just mentioned him and I'm not going to give him any credit whatsoever, but Jordan Pickford. He is- He's probably one of the biggest wind up merchants in football when I watch him. If I'm completely honest, I absolutely hate him. I think he winds people up. He's got the ability to wind plays up getting their heads and, you know, and that's concerning for me. So I think he's massively one to watch out for. Sorry if everyone's watching my partners. Also, if he's fit, I mean, I don't massively haven't watched much of him, sorry, but Dominic Calvert-Luan is, if I don't know if he's fit or not, I haven't actually really had a look at this idea. I haven't heard anything about him, you know, so I've got to treat that as his fit. But I think he's another one to watch out for. I think he could potentially get it on them. And again, a player that can score goals. Oh, good. Yeah. So who do you think, other than them, too, to watch out for? I don't know, because I used to be a bit of a fan of Tarkowski, when we were afternoon to be fair. And I didn't actually want us to get him, but I wouldn't say I'm probably scared of him. I don't think it's someone that we can't deal with. And it really does boil down. The likes of- It is as simple as I think Pickford either playing a blinder or not. And Calvert-Luan being on his game or not. And again, Calvert-Luan's the one that we've been after, but I don't want him in our team either. I don't rate him that highly that I think. I'm not saying he's a bad striker, by the way, and again, he does score goals. So it's, you know, but it's not something that being someone I'd be interested, sorry, in us buying it all. Yeah. It's one of those tough ones, isn't it? Like, McNeil scored both their goals last weekend against Palace. But it doesn't mean that I feel McNeil's massive threat. Yeah, please don't go on score against us after I said this. And then everyone would be like, "Ah, Joel, you fool." We know nothing. No, we know nothing what we will. This is what happens when you do let girls go wild on the pod. Yeah, we're gone round. But in all honesty, yeah, it is to me a game that we should be able to get a hold of. And he gets him kind of, not riled up, but gone by what you've just said about Pickford, right? He can wind people up, but we can get to him. We have got to him. And there's been a few times where he's lost the plot and he's threw his fingers up towards the crowd and that. Oh, yeah. He does. He gets to the point where he cannot let his emotions kind of, I don't know, keep buried or whatever or be professional. And he does lose it. So if I'm honest, if he wants to wind us up fine, we'll do it right back. We know how to do it. We've got wind up merchants on the pitch. In fact, play Murphy, please. He'll get in his face. You know, just, just anyone who wind him up, bring Murphy on for the last 20 minutes and I don't know, let him get a card or anything. I don't know, just wind Pickford up and there. But this can be reversed is what I mean by it. I don't see it as too much of a scary thing. I would hope our players are kind of, yeah, they know him, put it that way. And something I don't even know from the England set up, so it's not like they just know him from playing for a bit. And so they'll know him as an actual person as well. So one hundred percent. Yeah, they know Pickford's, I guess, style of play, if you can call it. And we're probably sending him right back into anger management classes. So that's great. I think we'll leave that part there there as well. And I think we have another sponsor. Wonderful. This one's GSPN. So the Global Sports podcast, I can't speak. I'll start again. The Global Sports podcast network is changed in the face of football podcasts. It's dedicated daily content for every Premier League team, women's football, fantasy football, and a daily Premier League wrap-up broadcast in five different languages. It's your one shop stop, stop shop for daily football fix. Find GSPN wherever you find your usual podcasts. And this is why I read the Zincaster one, by the way. We got there in the end. Oh, God. Also, that's different from the advert that I have, by the way, for GSPN. Oh, well, I don't think it's even better than the wind at the pod. No one cares about that. So because there's just two of us, and we haven't got any of the boys to just blabber on for minutes, just joking before they all start coming for me, I thought we would end the pod by, we'll talk about our score predictions. I was massively off for the Wimbledon game, but we draw for the Man City game. So I'm given as credit for it. We did. Absolutely. But we'll go to that. And then I thought we would maybe cover off. I don't know if I should talk about this or not, but I think I'm going to bit about the atmosphere that's been had at St. James Park. Let's just do that. So score predictions, what you going for? Two nil. Right. Okay. I am going for a three nil. Go on. Love it. Three nil. I think we're going to dominate. I think we're going to come out and yeah, it's like the same performance that we did against Manchester City. And I think we're going to go full troll and get the win. I'm going for a Harvey Barnes goal as well, because why not? Why not? Yeah. That is my score prediction. He can hit it, hit it top-ins. And like we said, paper can't reach, so we're good. Yeah, with his T-rex arms. Gordon's going to score in one corner, Barnes and the other. T-rex is like that. Yeah. We'll go for Nick Stone for the other one, because why not? He's going to run the lens of the pigeon and dive into the pit. Because he stays in the box most of the time anyway, so Nick Stone can get this big one. A little tapping. Chest-joking. Right. So, I know we don't forget about the women in game, but I'm just going to quickly touch on the atmosphere at St James Park on, what night was it? Tuesday night? I thought it was a little bit of flat. And I think the last pod that me, you and Kev done, I think I asked like what we were worried about and Kev, to be fair, actually pointed out, he was worried about the fans. Obviously, we've all seen a lot on social media about how it's Eddie Owl, we need this, we need that, and you know, people have just gone, took a loss then. Which I think is very unfair. We can criticise a bad beforehand to Newcastle, don't get me wrong, but I think to personally come for Eddie at the moment is a little unfair. I do think it's a little unfair. So, obviously, we were all at the game on Tuesday. We all actually sat in different parts of the ground. Me and Joe were actually in the same sort of section of the ground. And I've got to be honest, it's probably one of the worst atmospheres I've experienced at St. James Park. It's definitely got to be up there with the top five, maybe. Now, I know we touched on like, you know, I don't want to disrespect Wimbledon, but it was just the Wimbledon game. But it was a cup game, you know, we're after some sort of silverware. So, I did expect the atmosphere to be a little bit more. You know, there was fans sort of leaving, I mean, where were our sat? There was actually fans leaving in the 70th minute, you know, and the person I was with, like, yeah, the person I was with. Now, I don't know these people might be catching trains or whatever. I get it. But we were sat there and we were like, well, it's not pleasing. And I kind of then, I mean, that happens every game, unfortunately, I've got to be honest, yeah. Well, yeah, I guess it does. But I was kind of sat there with the person I was thinking, what on earth is going on? Then I kind of clicked on the way home. So, I got three and a half hour drive home. Kept touched on that. The previous pod that we done. And I thought, I can actually see why he was a bit worried. I don't know what you think about that. I just thought we would quickly finish on that, because I'm just hoping we have a bit better atmosphere on Saturday. Yeah, I mean, I appreciate obviously we're going to be away. And our way fans are superior, let's say, in terms of cause and noise. I think my main disappointment, because I do get to every home game. So I've kind of seen what it's like, like, peaks and troughs. And because I'm a member, I sit in all parts of the stadium. And before anyone says anything, whoever's listening, by the way, I think and how she a member and gets to every single game, because if I don't win the ballot, I'm relentless on the thing, by the way, I do not win in every ballot before everyone thinks I've got some sort of inside connection or something. But no, like, I have literally sat all over the stadium the last couple of years as a result. And yes, all right, certain areas, like the posh seat or a nightmare. I had a few ones, I sat in there, it was tragic. I was the only one singing because, but whatever. Then you get the likes of up in level seven, I quite like level seven, because generally, apart from swearing from the youngens, because the kids are worse than the adults in that place. It is louder because it's nearly a way of fans, you're almost battling back with them and it's how it should be in a game, I suppose. But what my main disappointment about Tuesday was, as specifically aimed for and managed to get seats, or sorry, standing in the actual strawberry corner, so the Gala gets strawberry corner, the singing section of the stadium, so I thought, get in. If anything else, right, we're going to sing all game, it's going to be brilliant. And don't get us wrong, for the first, in the first half, we sang for most of it. But then towards the end of the first half, kind of pitted off a bit. But in the second half, there was literal chunks of that half, where there was not a peep. And this is the singing section, I'm thinking, and I appreciate getting into Cup Game, there's some people in there that normally aren't in there. I mean, I was in there, however, I do sing, so I can't be included in that one. We could hate it. Appreciate it, it's going to be, you know, oh, I love a good sing man, I'll have to do anything to sing. Until the last 20 minutes, where they started singing Ocelaire's song to Tequila, which did my dad's dinger in, so the more that they did it, I like stood there, I'm doing this, singing along. And I'm like Tequila, Ocelaire, in my dad's face, all over and over again, just to wind him up, I'm not going to lie. But that about as much crack as we had coming from that corner for the last 20 minutes, it was just literally that long. So that's what I found weird. And I do find that stadium, by the way, it's a funny one, because people always say, oh, it was crap here, it was great, they are, whatever. The kind of acoustics, because of the shape of our stadium is a nightmare. So for example, in that corner, right, I could hear along the world where you were in the Gallaget, I could hear if anything was happening there. You can only hear a certain way in the East Dan, but by the way, I've sat in the East Dan for years and years prior to all this, it's quite a quiet stand, by the way, in comparison to some others. I could hear the Wimbledon fans just, even though some people are saying they're creating a great atmosphere, but there's such a distance between the Gallagas corners. And then up in the court, when you're up in that section as well, it's hard to hear everyone down there. So I do understand that everyone's always going to have mixed opinions on the atmosphere, because you can't hear, you just can't, the acoustics are just all wrong, because of the imbalance and the size and stuff. But I've got to admit, it was poor. There's no other way to kind of describe it, but it was a cup game, it was kind of flat weekend. You weren't exciting us, we weren't exciting them, it was bouncing badly off each other, I suppose. But I expect more on the next home game I'd do to be fair. And obviously the weekend's away, so it's by the by, but I do expect a lot more from the next home game. However, the away fans never let us down. I think it's bright in yet. No, the away fans never let us down there. Never. They're singing loud, aren't they? I can't hear the need for a way. Of course you do, yeah, you hear it through the, yeah, you do hear it through the TV. I'm not lucky enough to get to go to away games, but when I'm watching it, you can. Yeah, you can really hear it. So yeah, but yeah. So I'm not going to end on a negative because I just want to touch on that because I don't know if I don't know if I do anyone think in that. But yeah, we face Everton away on Saturday. I personally, and so does Joe, I think that we're going to go there and give them a good game and beat them, judge, bit to a nail, I'm in the three nail.
