live on SCN track. Welcome to breakfast with the Kiwis. Kickstart your day of racing. Have breakfast with the Kiwis. Head to love racing defense in. Good morning. Welcome to breakfast with the Kiwis. Great to be with you as we look ahead to another weekend of racing right around New Zealand. A pleasure to be with you, Jordan Canellis here and alongside me as always is the CEO of Waikato thoroughbred racing. Butch Castle's morning. Butch, how are you? Yeah, I'm good. Thanks, Jordan. Looking forward to big days racing action here at Turahpa. Of course, the relocated Liverpool classic, the feature there, the Valley Divine restaurant, spring sprint as well. A feature and three year olds takes into stage in the South Island of Ashburt and with their annual big race day. Excellent stuff. We've got two guests coming up on the show today. We'll have a chat to Andrew Scott in a little bit later on. But first up, our guests to open the program today is none other than Mark Walker. Mark, it's a pleasure having you on. How's things? Morning, good morning. Good thanks. Good day, Mark. You got your forces spread far and wide across Australasia this weekend. Plenty of interest in Australia, but we'll concentrate on New Zealand and Turahpa. First, L Terry kicks off in the first year. It's come up a strong three year old race. But what we saw early in his two year old career would indicate that he's got tons of ability. Yeah, exactly. And he said the ultimate operation. He's now a gilding, so expect him to go on with it this season. It's got a nice barrier draw as well. Looks like there's enough speed in the race. You leave that to open note out. Yeah, yep. He's about to, you know, he's not far up 100, one, one, so you don't have to tell him a lot. No, no. He's going to beat him to it by the looks James. But anyway, it's been a good race. Race format inspired by art. Look, she showed plenty as a three year old last season, kicking off at a trip, maybe short of a best, but sometimes they can sprint well fresh. Yeah, exactly. So a little bit of. Try out the track will help as well. Yeah, track will be a soft seven soft six unless it rains out of the blue right. I could have appeal was good. This is race number six, the Dan Disposito Memorial Court of Appeal was good at last time. Steps up. And what is the pretty even sort of a field? Yeah, a bit of a tricky draw, but she's just a bit stronger this time round and go on with it this season. OK, race number eight, the Thompson Suits 1200 Pratrucci have had has had the benefit of one run that was in a stronger race than this drops back and you're claiming here with Narkia Hailey. Yeah, so she should sort of hit four and this type of race probably was a little bit on the big side first up, but she's trained on and if you couldn't run top three in this, you'd be scratching your head a bit. Yes, she's an open class sort of a mirror, isn't she, on what we've seen and on her best form? Yeah, exactly. Yep. Right. Oh, the Liverpool Classic Group 1, 550,000. It's been a interrup, ruptured prep with campy and easy. You've had to do things you wouldn't ordinarily do leading into a 2040 metre race, but the last two pieces of work have been at home, which will have been a help. Yeah, exactly. So we trialled her on Tuesday, which is just a bitter and usual way of doing things, but and we've gone 14 back to 13 and then trialled over 12. So we're just trying to catch up and have a fidd enough. But if you could produce a soft six track, I think she'd be right in it. Yeah, it's not really over to me. We'll we'll leave that to above. But in saying that, I suppose when you look through the field, the class factor, she's a group two winner in Australia. She's won a group one at a similar distance. I suppose the query is the preparation. Yeah, exactly. Just that last 100 metre switch with a quite seasoned enough for it, but she seems good at the trials the other day and yeah, so yeah, better but an unusual threat, but we'll get her there on the day. Yeah, for sure. Right. Over the last cognito and my lips are sealed, he flying my lips are sealed. The last two have been very good. Yeah. Yeah, she is. So hopefully she goes on with it to the Thompson handicap at Trenton looks to be suitable sort of a race for her. What about cognito again choosing to claim with him? Yeah, just just don't not sure about him on that first up run, so would want to see a bit more tomorrow. Right, let's turn the focus to the South Island team. You've got a number of runners there. You've got a big team down there getting geared up towards the carnival at Rickett and race six number six Fellini racing really well in consistent form and our Australian listeners will be interested to see the fact that Liam Reden's over doing some riding for you this weekend. Yeah, is that the beach that found one now today? Liam happened to be there and I was having a chat to him and he mentioned New Zealand. I saw what about this weekend. They have a nice ride in a group three, so that's how it all happens. So Fellini should run well. Race number seven. You've got a couple of runners there. Bellamyo and Vivacious. Lily Sutherland claiming off the top of the road to the road. Yeah, and Vivacious with Liam Reden doing the riding. Yeah, Vivacious. She's going well. The other horse needs to step up with Bellamyo, but she's in pretty good form, Vivacious. The Barnswood farm stakes. That's the group three for the three-year-olds. A real stepping stone towards the guineas four runners. Let's go through them. When stars align, there's head the two runs back. They've been struck a bit of a rain effect to ground, so I'm hoping for a genuine firm track. I think he shows us best on that sort of track. The Victress was good resuming. Okay, last time. Yeah, question mark on the distance, which might be just 1,000, 1,100 meters sort of fully. Dream of the moon. This is the one that Liam Reden rides. So is it fair to say she's the top seed? You'd think so off her last run in the Canterbury Bell. It's a tricky sort of a draw, but she's gone well. Donna Kiara, look, she always showed enough as a two-year-old to think that she was going to be a force come three-year-old year. It's proved that way. It was good second resuming. Then the win last time was good. She has got the good barrier. Yeah, exactly. So she's trying to get the nice run. And I had brought up a pedigree the other day, so she's going to at least get a mile, if not further. I don't think that distance will worry her. No, I don't think so. And the last. You've got a couple of runners there. Tokyo Tycoon at the top. His run was adequate resuming. It was very good sectionally. The last bit. And he lumps a big weight here, but a kilo off will be some help. Yeah, exactly. I think he's really coming back to form, and he's enjoying it down south. It's like, you know, change a scenery for him. So it should run well. And Elmenet, she's racing well. This preparation, the win two starts ago, was good. Yeah, exactly. So, no, it should be both trifecta chances anyway. Righto, you've got a big team of them, Mark. If you had to back one of them for your life, which one would it be? Probably at Cranborn tonight. I like our paramour. Oh, there you go. Our paramour at Cranborn. But of the New Zealand runners, what do you reckon? Oh, the New Zealand runners. I'd probably have to go milip the field in good form. Yeah, she's flying, isn't she? It was a very good win in a strong field last time. Thanks for your time. Good luck with the runners, spread far and wide this weekend. And we'll look forward to seeing you in the near future. Cheers, Bob. Thank you. Pleasure having Mark Walker on the program today. Thank you, Mark. We'll chat to you again in the future. We'll take a break here on breakfast with the Kiwis. We'll come back after this and have a chat to Andrew Scott. That's up next. Your listening to breakfast with the Kiwis. Love Racing.nz. Your home of New Zealand, thoroughbred racing news, previews, reviews, profiles, and more. Welcome back to breakfast with the Kiwis. Jordan Canellis and Butch castles with you. You couldn't get ahold of Andrew Scott. So Butch, let's have a look at the Tarapa race meeting ourselves tomorrow. We're starting off with race number one. The Collier's commercial. What are you liking from this race? Look, Kiwi Skyhawk, the favorite here was a really good run last time when running fourth over 1,200 meters at Tarapa. It gets up to 14 from a good barrier draw, which will suit. So got to be in the mix. Sort of thought sought after was very good on day boo at Taupo. Look, he'd trialled well. He'd been pretty soft in his trials, or that'd been soft on him. He's at a nice price. He's $9.50 and $3. He's one that I think can step up to a good three-year-old company. It's number seven sought after Kitty Flash is in the market. Number 11 at $5.50. There's a ton of chances. It is a really, really good three-year-old race that will shed a light on some of the hopes of these horses heading towards Guinea's races and the like. But if I had to back one at a price, it would probably be number seven sought after at the $9.53 quote. Race number two over 2,200 meters is the tab punter of the year. What are your thoughts on this one? Yeah, even race. Look, high country drops back in class here out of the pike stable. He has had two runs back. When they drop back into 65 company, they can be awfully hard to beat. It is the favorite. $4.75. So, it warrants tons of respect. Thought black Betty's run at hour last week was very good. Warren Kennedy links up with this one out of the John Wheeler stable. Number seven black Betty. And the best one at a price is number four. Piper's son was really good winning, resuming. They've put it up at $17. It's in the 15s already. I reckon it'll start shorter than that. The run last time it had no luck at Hawkes Bay. Masahush Azumi does the right in here. And I thought the quote Piper's son was some chance at a big price. So, high country with real respect dropping back. Black Betty and Piper's son number four. Race number three is Don Locker celebrating 100 years over 2,000 metres. Yeah, well, we were going to chat with Andrew Scott about the chances of sassy last who brings impeccable form to this. One, one, one, two. Her last four starts. Look, she slides into this race reasonably well. Warren Kennedy again does the riding. 2,000 metres. I think you'll suit here. No problem at all. So, she's got to be on top at $4.80 and $2. The quote. Our final was very good winning on the course and distance. Last time, $2100 last time at the $10 price here. I give it a chance to be able to carry on with its good form. Number three, Arfina and Seva Cat won over a mile last time. Steps up in class here, but no reason why she cannot be competitive either. Really good race. Really good betting race as evidenced by the $4.80 favourite in sassy less. And I did have her on top. The fourth race on the card is all the news at trackside.co.nz over 1200 metres. Yeah, another good betting race. This is another $4.80 favourite. So, I went outside. The favourite here thought Pocahua was the one to beat. It's got a horror draw. Craig Grills will have to go back from the draw. But, gee, if you look at the tape last time from its run at Taupo, it was super late. I think that if there's enough speed in the race, it'll bring Pocahua into it late. It has been back seven into five already on the strength of what people have seen out of its run, resuming. So, we'll give it a chance. Inspired by Art, Mark Walker gave it a chance, didn't he? Off the one gate with Opie Boston, has been back $6.50 into $4.80. So, we'd have to take note of that money train from the Tiacia team. And Frosfere didn't have all favourites last time. Has a tough draw to overcome as well. But has tons of ability. I didn't think Pocahua was a nice each way chance. Number two. What do you like at race? Number five. Three wise birds over 1400. Laks Libertas is throwing into this. Look, it's a handicapping certainty, really. It's won four of its last five starts. Gets in with just 57.5 kilos. Again, Warren Kennedy rides. It's $1.70. There's no reason why it shouldn't be. This race will change complexion. There'll be a lot of scratchings come out of it with the likes of smart love running today. Sothito running on Friday at TriStar. Probably likely the line up in the first. Laks Libertas will take all sorts of beating. Not being very brave. But at $1.70, she should get the job done. To race six, it's the Dan Desposito Memorial, raced over 1600 meters. Your thoughts here, Booch. Yeah, wonderful friend of ours taking far too soon. Dan Disposito. So hopefully we can back the winner of this. I thought that RJ's flight was really, really good resuming at Taupo. He gets to stay in rating 65, which is always good. They can get another run in the 65 class. Nakia Haley will take three kilos off his back. So it brings him down to a good weight. He is the favorite, but a loose one at $5 and $2.25. Real interest in the ring of fat number one. Be known to your listeners. Race that's last couple in Victoria running food on that occasion. One of those occasions. Harry Grace does the riding here. Drawn Handy will race on the speed. That's what he does fat. So it has to be afforded a chance. And Cyberpatch built to a really good win last time. Number six. And on the strength of that, I think it can cope up in class. But I thought RJ's flight was the one. Number two. All right. It's a race. Number seven now, the Group 3 Valley Divine Restaurant Springs sprints over 1400 meters. Yeah. Pretty tough race. The track keeps coming back. What's in clearly the one to beat? I know they're a little bit concerned about track conditions. Excuse me. But on the strength of what we've seen and what we saw resuming from what's in. If he can get a decent track then he will be very, very hard to beat. Geriatrics known to your listeners. Good enough to win a race at the carnival in Brisbane. Resuming run was only adequate. But I think it'll be a quick improvement. Got a horror barrier draw. But should be getting home strongly. And look, there's a horse in here. I'm just not sure that it's tomorrow. But it'll be one worth following right throughout this preparation. He's called out of stock. He won a staying race at listed level as a three-year-old. Comes back here as a four-year-old drawn barrier one. Might just toodle along. Three, four, five. Back on the fence. And if the splits come in the straight he'll be finishing off big. Probably short of what he's looking for. But sometimes those sprinters can go big fresh. And those stairs can go big fresh. And maybe out of stock is that runner. But the track is half reasonable. It'll take all sorts of beating. We'll number 13. What's the end? Race under eight over 1,200 meters. Is Thompson's suits? What are you liking here? Yeah, a really good race. This tough leg of the quad. We heard from Mark Walker that Prattushi should be very competitive in a race like this. But I have to throw it in on the strength of that. I thought candle was a chance off the good gate with Opie Boston number five at a nice price of $9.50. And I thought the way that Mars trial would give it a chance as well. But look, you could back almost anything in this race and be a chance it is really, really competitive. If I had to back one it might just be on an each-way basis Prattushi after we listened to Mark Walker saying it needed to be competitive in a race like this. The big one is race number nine. It's the third leg of the quad. The group won Liverpool Classic over 20 over 20 meters. What are you liking? Yeah, same distance as the Cox plate. I was in the camp of number 15, Snezi Tevi. She's had an uninterrupted run. These rest of them have had to trek all over the North Island looking for their lead up run. The arrowfield after the race by meeting was abandoned. So Snezi Tevi wasn't in that. She won her race here the day before the arrowfield disruption. So she's had a trouble-free preparation. She steps up to 2040, which should suit. And she's unbeaten here at Tarapa. She is three wins from three starts on the course. So she'll do me even from the horror draw number 15, Snezi Tevi. Huge respect around Kempe Anissa. As Mark said, it's had a really tricky prep, but she just oozes class. Look, one bold cat was good in winning the arrowfield. And I thought the best roughie was number 14, Poole of Alsace, who placed in this race last year. And looks, had two runs back and was probably, for me, the big improver. But on with number 15, Snezi Tevi. And the last race on the card is at race number 10 over 1,600 metres. The Hawkes Bay great wine capital mile. What are you liking here? Yeah, another great building race. My lips are sealed from the Walker Stable and Bergerson Stable. As we heard when it's last two and should be awfully competitive on that. But I'll go right down towards the bottom. Number 15, Arabian Songbird. Gee, it was massive resuming at Alsley. If I was able to replicate that form would be very, very hard to beat. Steps up in class. But on what we saw at Alsley with the lightweight should be able to cope for us a hushazoomie. Number 15, Arabian Songbird. Over the four, my lips sealed. Gave channel surfer number two, a chance with the three kilo claim. Really, really hard way to get out to the last on what is a supercard at Terrapa for Liverpool Classic Day. And boych, to finish us off, have you got a best bet or two of the day? Oh, gee. Well look, luck. Slumber test should be winning. It's a handicapper special. But we can't be tipping that at the price. What about, we'll go to the Dan Disposito Memorial and a really even and competitive race of RJ's flight. Bought the form that he did to Taupo to Terrapa. He would be awfully hard to beat at $5 and $2 on an each way. So that's race six. Number two, RJ's flight. Excellent stuff, butch. A pleasure. Enjoy the weekend of racing and we'll catch up again next week. Good on you, Jordan. Before we finish today's program on breakfast with the Kiwis, let's get the latest thanks to Ladbrokes. Take on the fun and download the Ladbrokes app today. Chances are you're about to lose. Jared Timbs, it's a pleasure to welcome you in. And Terrapa is what we're looking at today. Yeah. Outstanding betting at Terrapa Jordan. Thank you for having me back. Of course. Thank you. Last week day, we're going to kick off earlier on the program as we usually do. Race number five, so far, features the best back runner on the program here at Ladbrokes. Our bookies went up with luck for Libertas. A very clear $1.90 favorite. That price was snapped up. We've had interest all week, and he's into $1.70 today. He accounts for more than three quarters of the Ladbrokes hold in that race. Race number seven is the first black type on the program. The group three spring sprints certainly a far more open contest from a betting perspective. This one here at Ladbrokes, which then went up a $3.70 favorite in our market. That has not changed to a rock solid at that price. But there has been interest for a few of them. Navigator has gone $8.00 into $7.00. Rudyard, $8.50 into $7.50 out of stock, $9.50 into $8.50 and a bit further down the market order here. Gosspot, and currently your Ladbrokes market mover, $31.00 into $23.00. We'll move into a big one here. The group one. Live them all classic. It's race number nine, Campia Nessa. We know who well over here in Australia remains a $4.50 favorite. But it's actually just a small drift from opening odds of $4.40. One bold cast has actually been the best back in the Ladbrokes market so far. Rock solid on the second line of betting. You're going to have $5.00 about that Galico right now. Look, interest for plenty of them, though. Roles is over from Australia. Of course, Maddie Raymond chasing her first group one win and has been given some chance by a bookie here as well, $13.00 into $11.00. A bit further down the market. No compromise. Another one that we know over here in Australia, $19.00 into $16.00. That's it for me this week, Pontus. Good luck, as always. Hope you can find a winner. Thank you, Jared. A pleasure having you on. As always, take on the farm with Ladbrokes and download the Ladbrokes app today. Chances are you're about to lose. For free and confidential support, visit gamblinghelponline.org.au. That's it for breakfast with the Kiwis. We'll catch you again next week.
