And yeah, it was a bit of fun But yeah, so that's not the scene for a pretty interesting practice too Indeed, I mean, we've had kangaroos We've had a kitten as I guess we'll probably do a snake As you said, we've had two one-hour supercars practice sessions this afternoon The first one featured mainly the primary drivers And that was topped by Grove Racing's Matt Payne Ahead of Tickford Racing's cam waters and Triple 8's Will Brown And then the second was for the co-drivers only With Triple 8's Jamie Winkle ending it on top From the Triple 8 Wild Card of Cooper Murray And Mr. GT Worldwide himself, Jadon Ojeda In the number 9 Erebus Mercedes And that afternoon session after starting All that, like, basically half an hour late It ended up finishing early anyway Because of a crash for Scott Pie in the number 87 Triple 8 Camaro Up at the cutting We've got the full report and results from each session on v8sleaf.com.au Plus a bit of reaction from Scott Pie on that crash But what were the performances that caught your eye today, Connor? Well, as you put it, Mr. Worldwide, so maybe Jadon You should be expecting a call from people for Tickford's napkin team But, I mean, he was very, very impressive He's done a lot of racing of late And he was on the money very quickly in that practice too session The time that he finished in third was, yeah, I think on his third lap of the afternoon Yeah, he did a great job at Sandown And, yeah, straight out of the blocks very, very quickly See, I thought he was great In the morning, Cameron Hill, he was fast all morning He's really fast here in February too You know, Matt Stone Racing, I think, you know, it'd be a popular team To sort of upset some of the big guns And, yeah, he was very impressive as well Coming off the top ten at Sandown, you know, yeah, Cameron Hill was tenth basically Off top spot there in practice one, so, yeah, a couple of, I guess, yeah They were both pretty good in my eyes It really was a tightly packed order at the top in practice one I think it was what 0.03 or something, some minuscule margin covering the top three cars But, and quite a few big guns throughout the rest of the top ten But the one that caught my eye in the morning was someone who was outside the ten Andre Heimgartner, he had an interesting morning with having a power steering issue That took him off the track for the best part of ten minutes out of that one-hour session But when he came back, he didn't mess around He was so fast in sector one and sector three And probably would have been in the ten and right at the pointy end But, for a mistake on his final lap of the session Bryce Ford got in for BJR and it was good to see Good to see their performances given the fact that BJR have struggled here In the gen 3 era so far For the afternoon session for mine, Aaron Cameron did a great job First of the Fords in sixth place in the number three Blanchard racing team, Mustang And on the subject of the Mustangs, one of the big pre-race stories We had a bit of a resolution to it today, the Ford Crankshaft saga Of course, at the Sanddown 500, Richie Stanaway launched a motor In the number 26 Grove racing machine during the big race And then a couple more happened on the ride day the next day And, Connie, you've been following the story since Sanddown It's been a massive operation this last few weeks Look, it's not ended until the checkered flag waves on Sunday afternoon But the next step happened today with a batch of engines Arriving in pit lane this morning Yeah, and as we saw when we rolled in There were teams getting straight to work on changing and putting those new engines straight in the cars There was no mucking around for six of them, six of the ten Mustangs Yeah, the engines went straight in I think, yeah, it's been clearly from, you know, it's been an incredible effort Something that wasn't really expected, I don't think coming before Sanddown But, yeah, the last four weeks has clearly been a massive, massive effort And I think there's going to be some heroic kind of stories that will be told If all goes well for Ford over the next couple of days But at the same time, I think there's also quite a few people Crossing their fingers and just praying that it all does come together Because obviously what happened at Sanddown, particularly the day after the race Yeah, it obviously would be a disaster if that was repeated Over the course of a thousand kilometers at Bathurst, so... Yeah, massive job, massive props to those who kind of got the emergency spec for Mustang engines ready to go And, yeah, we'll, I guess, so far, so good And it's sure, between that and all the dramas in practice too this afternoon And the relatively balanced top ten in practice one It's really taken a lot of the heat out of the fact that there were, of course, parity changes In the lead-up to the race between the chev and Ford motors Off the back of the two rounds of AVL dyno testing in the US I guess it remains to be seen what impact that will have come race day The supercars track schedule for Friday, all these times are Australian Eastern Daylight Savings time 10.05 a.m. is when the field will return for practice three Which is a one-hour session, all drivers can get in, not just the co-drivers It's the same again at 1.05 p.m. for practice four, 60 minutes, all drivers And then, 4.15, it's Hollywood time, 40 minutes, qualifying 10 fastest drivers will go through to the top ten shootout on Saturday afternoon But those three times aren't the only times we're going to see supercars on track tomorrow As there's a special test session happening pretty early doors, I think around 7.25 in the morning Yeah, yeah, so this will be, I guess, you know, another test of the new Dunlop tyre Because we'll introduce, they've officially announced that they will introduce this as the new soft tyre for next year The current soft tyre will be gone, the current hard tyre will be gone Next year will just be this new soft and the current super soft And yeah, there's been apparently quite a lot to like about this compound a tyre It's apparently, you know, the deck is an issue where drivers need to nurse it But this still provides enough grip, and yeah, I guess this will be just one last test after it's been run at QR, S&P, tail and bend, yeah, just get some insights into, I guess, how it's going to work at Bathurst So yeah, half hour session, I think a Tribway Camaro and a Blanchard Mustang So yeah, that'll be nice and early and some more learnings for the category to take into next year And great for all the campers on top of the hill to have a nice, loud V8 engine at 7.25 in the morning Thank you, Connor, of course Connor, myself, Noonz The entire V8 Sloof team is on the ground here at Mount Panorama this weekend So keep an eye on the website, v8sloof.com.au For all the latest news, and if you're here at Bathurst like we are, make sure to pop into the Repco track side stores They've got anything and everything you'll need, including this year's Repco Bathurst 1000 official program put together by V8 Sloof once again this year But wherever you're listening from, we will chat to you all again tomorrow with a wrap of all the action From qualifying day at the 2024 Repco Bathurst 1000 on Castrol Bathurst daily The super cheap Porto TCR Australia series is heading to Sydney for its next round of turbo spinning front wheel driving tintop action It's on October 19 and 20 at Sydney Motorsport Park as part of race Sydney You can watch it alive and free on 7+ or grab your tickets now Get trackside via motorsport tickets.com.au Motorsport is the ultimate test of performance That's why BWT LPF1 team is proud to endorse HighSpec Castrol's new hybrid performance standard Castrol HighSpec engine oils endorsed in motorsport designed for everyday [MUSIC PLAYING]
