Today's October the 10th. Angel Food Cake. Angel Food Cake. The best darn thing my mama can make. On my birthday, make no mistake. I get Angel Food Cake. Angel Food Cake. Angel Food Cake. The best darn thing my mama can make. Today is National Angel Food Cake Day. This light, fluffy, airy cake. It got its name because it's what's believed that angels might be eating. Angel Food Cake. It was created in the United States in the mid-1800s. No one gets credit for it. Slow in carbs. So that's cool. Pretty simple. The bag. Beaten egg whites. So it's baked in a tube pan. That's the pan with the hole in the center. Now that allows the cake to rise when it's baking. See if you cook an Angel Food Cake just on a regular pan. All you'll get is a big cookie. Yeah, it won't rise. And then you get to top your Angel Food Cake however you want. So that's all up to you. So enjoy some Angel Food Cake today. Do you know any one named Kevin? I can honestly say I do not. But if you do, it's National Hug of Kevin Day. Alright, let's see what's going on in entertainment on October the 10th. Let's back to your 2007. Someone album was Reba Day. Reba duets by Reba McIntyre. Soldier Boy. I had the number one song with Crank that Soldier Boy. Crank that song. Now why? Crank that song. Now why? Soldier Boy baby. Why me lean that why me raw. Superman that old. Yeah, why me crack that road walk up. Superman that why me jock. Jockin' on them hat on me. When I do that soldier boy, I lean to the left and crank that thing out. I'm jockin' on them, jockin' on them. Brad Paisley had the number one country song with online. It turns girls all that I'm mysterious, I tell 'em I don't want nothing serious. 'Cause even on a slow day, I can have a three-way chat with two women at one time, I'm so much cooler over. So much cooler over. The top book was playing for pizza by John Grisham. That movie was, "Why did I get married?" It's about the trials of marriage, and what happens when a sexy young woman enters a picture? Stars Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson, and Sharon Lee. 1977, Aerosmith, they were playing a concert in Philadelphia when someone threw an M-80 on stage. When it exploded, it hurt the singer Stephen Tyler's cornea and hurt guitarist Joe Perry's hand. So of course the concert was over, yeah, they had to take those two to the hospital. Now to show that there were no hard feelings against the people of Philadelphia, Aerosmith went back and played a concert there next year. Stephen Tyler got hit in the face with a beer bottle. Ah, that's what happened on October the 10th. Now with Milton rampaging off through Florida, it was today in 1780, the deadliest hurricane ever in the Atlantic Ocean. It was called the Great Hurricane in 1780. It hit Barbados. Yeah, it had wind speeds of 200 miles an hour. It destroyed Barbados. Then it hit some island hopping, took 'em all out, Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, yeah. Pretty much, when it got up to Bermuda, then it varied east. Yeah, it never did make landfall in the United States, but it had killed over 27,000 people on all those islands. Remember that was 1780, not like populated like today. Now do you like shooting pool? In the 1800s, billiard balls, they were made from ivory, from elephants' tusks. Yeah, they were expensive and kind of hard to get. Then in 1865, in Albany, New York, John Wesley Hyatt, he solved that problem, he took this new invention called plastic, and he modified it into a celluloid. He used this thing called celluloid nitrate. Now, if you looked and felt them, you could not tell the difference between the celluloid and the ivy balls. It got really popular. There was one difference between them, though, the celluloid ones? Yeah, they turned out to be flammable. If you hit the balls, just right, boom, they would explode. Today, billiard balls are made from a vanilla resin. Now, don't you honestly think pool would be more exciting if the balls would explode? 1886, Griswell, Loreland, dude, was a rebel. He wore a short black dinner jacket to an autumn ball in Tuxedo, New York. Now, when he walked in, everybody thought, "What a goofball, no one had ever seen anything like that." But as I watched him through the night, he was just talking to the ladies, and he was dancing, and he was having a good time. By the end of the ball, everyone thought that jacket was pretty cool. So the Tuxedo, it's been worn to fancy events ever since. This would really be embarrassing. In 1957, President Eisenhower, he had to apologize to the finance minister of Ghana. See, the guy was visiting the United States, and he had been refused service at a Dover-Delaware restaurant because he was black. 1973, United States Vice President Spiroagner resigned over allegations of tax fraud. Gerald Ford replaced him. 1978, Congress, they approved a silver dollar with Susan B. Anthony on it. When it came out, everybody just thought it was a really ugly representation of Benjamin Franklin. Okay, so he was born on October 10th. Earl Dixon. He was born in Grandview, Tennessee in 1892. Now Earl, his wife, Josephine, she was a real clets around the house. She was constantly hurting herself. So much though, that 1920, Earl invented the Band-Aid. That's right. It made him easier to fix her up. See, before then, all you had was some cotton gauze pads and some not-so-sticky tape. So Josephine's cletsiness ended up making them a lot of money. Earl, he died at 68 years old. Josephine, she actually outlived him. Considered to be the first lady of American theater, Helen Hayes. She was born in Washington, D.C. in 1900. She was the first actress to win the Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Awards. Yep, the E got, she won her first actress Oscar in 1931. She won it. Then she won her second Oscar in 1970. Yeah, that was for the movie Airplane. Now, she didn't win any awards, but she's also in Herbie Rides again. I just wanted to give you something that most of you had actually seen. She married once for 30 years before they divorced. They had two children. She died in 1993, 92 years old from heart failure. Okay, now this is a rock star. This is not a rock star. David Lee Roth, he's 70 today, is born in Bloomington, Indiana in 1954. The original lead singer for the band Van Halen, they had it from 1974 to 1985. They gave him the lead singing job because he owned a lot of sound equipment. That's right, by making them lead singer, they didn't have to rent or buy any of it. Now, when David's with Van Halen, they sold 57 million records. They sold 27 million with Sammy Hagar. David, easily six solo albums on the side. Like I said, you can't call him rock. Van Halen, they did screw up over a couple of times though, they announced they're getting all back together, then pull out at the last minute. David has two daughters and one son. That was 13-year-old Tanya Tucker with her first hit song, Delta Don back in 1972. She's born in Seminole, Texas in 1958, so that makes her 66 today. She has one of the few child singers who ever really made a smooth transition into being a successful adult music singer, so at least 25 albums, 89 singles. Some of her number one songs are Just Another Love, One Love at a Time, I'll come back as another woman, it don't come easy. She had a son and a daughter from a boyfriend, then she got engaged to another guy, then she found out she was pregnant, so she canceled the wedding, yep, she did not want to walk down the aisle pregnant in her wedding dress, so then she had a baby girl, then she never married the guy. That was Eric Martin singing late for Mr. Big, he was born in 1960 in Long Island, New York, 64-year. From late 1970s, he started out singing in punk bands, then he'd just go from band to band to band. Finally joined Mr. Big in 1988, now that song only wanted to be with you, that was their only really big hit year in the United States, but Mr. Big, huge in Japan. Mr. Big, they actually just played their very last show ever, that was on August 23rd, so no more Mr. Big. Eric he got married in 2002, actress Jody Benson, 63, she's born in Rockford, Illinois in 1961, she's mainly a voice actress, she was the voice of Ariel in the little Mermaid movies, that whole franchise, then she was also Barbie in the Toy Story movies, she got married in 1984, and they have two children. Mario Lopez, he's 51, he's born in Chula Vista, California in 1973, first got known playing Slater on TV, saved by the bell, then all those reunion shows, and dancing with the stars, he got second place, he lost to Emma Smith, now that he's pretty much mostly just a TV host. She did extra for nine years, he's been on Access Hollywood since 2019, he was married to actress Allie Landry for two weeks, then she found out that she cheated on her at his bachelor party. So he didn't have a bachelor party, married his second wife in 2012, they have one daughter and two sons. She's so cool, she just goes by Maya, she's going to Washington DC in 1979, 45 today, start out studying to be a dancer, and she switched over and came as singer, but I'm sure she still dances at her shows, now as popular as she is here in the United States, she's even bigger worldwide, she's over 20 million more records worldwide than here in the United States, some of her heads are, it's all about me moving on, case of the X, Lady Marmalade, that was with Christina Pink and Lil Kim, Maya, she just finished her tour up two weeks ago, don't know she's doing it next year or not, Maya, she married in 2013, she married herself, yeah, sometimes I don't ask. Let's go back to pool, now Bill Earth's is one of the oldest games of all time, it dates back to the early 1500s, now of course we talked about it, so what they make the balls of they've changed over the years, but the cloth on the table, it has not changed, the cloth they used on the table in the 1500s, it was made of wool, today the cloth on pool tables made of wool, oh thank you for being here with us today, you like good old country music, don't forget country underground radio, yeah the best independent country music on the internet, gonna look wherever you want, or you always go to country underground radio dot com, let's end with actor Orson Welles who died today in 1985, he's 70 years old, Orson says, "My doctor told me to quit having intimate dinners for four, unless there are three other people there, you guys having an awesome day and we'll talk tomorrow."
