(upbeat music) - Hi to folks, I just wanted to let you know that there's an opportunity to take a couple of courses that I'll be teaching this October and November. These are online courses in parapsychology that I'll be teaching for the Ryan Education Center, the most prestigious school on the topic in America. Parapsychology is the scientific study of two principal areas, the evidence for psychic functioning and the survival of bodily death. This October, November, I'll be teaching two eight-week courses. The first one is Introduction to Parapsychology. I've taught this several times before and in it, I survey the entire field of parapsychology. I'll be discussing the scientific evidence for reported psychic abilities like precognition, telepathy, clairvoyance, and psychokinesis, or mind over matter. I'll also be discussing what science has to say about whether we survived the deaths of our bodies. And I'll be looking at phenomena like deathbed visions, near-death experiences, and after-death communications. We'll also look at field investigations of hauntons, apparitions, and poltergeists. You can either take this course for a grade or not your choice, and if you take it for a grade in pass, which is not hard, then you'll get a certificate signed by me and the director of the Ryan Education Center. The second course I'll be teaching is brand new. It's religious perspectives on psi. And in it, I'll be discussing what all the major world religions have to say about the subject area of parapsychology. I'll be covering Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and folk religions from around the world. And as part of that, I'll be looking at how some saints and doctors of the church, like Saint Augustine, Pope Saint Gregory the Great, and Saint Thomas Aquinas, were open to and positively believed in psychic powers as natural human abilities. We'll also be covering religious beliefs about life after death and how they correspond to what parapsychologists have found. Finally, we'll be looking at how discoveries in parapsychology actually support religious belief. As before, you can either take this course for a grade or not your choice. These classes will be offered online and you don't have to be present at the time when I give the lectures. All classes are recorded so you can watch them at your convenience. Both courses shed light on many of the subjects that I discuss on mysterious world and listeners who have taken the courses have been extremely pleased with them and what they learned. If either or both of these classes sound interesting to you, I'd encourage you to take them. That way, you can find out more about parapsychology, a subject that most people know almost nothing about.
