Hello. My name is Lewis and-- Hello. This is-- Jack. Hello. Unfortunately, we have not joined by Jazz this week. She's a bit poorly. Yeah, we're soldered down. Forts are on her. Yeah. What was the first go with that? Yeah, exactly. Yeah. We're soldered down, but we soldier on. But we still got some great music and some great topics. Now, I was just saying I do not like it when people bring popcorn in the cinema. When you say bring in, do you mean buy it from the-- Cinema. Yeah. Buy it from the cinema. I don't. I have ever-- I bring it, I smuggle it in. Really? But I keep that between you and I. I think you're allowed to now. Well, I don't like it in any means, because they're very noisy. These popcorn sort of things. And sweet rappers as well. Sweet rapper each time. It's against the rules of cinema. You know what I hate? Well, I've seen clips of it just later in the night, you scroll on your film, don't you? Yeah. On the YouTube rabbit hole. When you-- yeah. It's late at night, you think, oh, god, YouTube. Yeah. I was just scrolling mostly in America. Yeah. Excuse me. They shout and applaud at every bloody-- whenever something big happens in the film, they applaud. And they shoot. They go, wait. And they-- No! That's-- if the scene is loud, I do not mind that. No, I bloody hate that. It's shut. Thank god we don't have it in this country. Yeah, yeah. But it shows the love of a film, though, doesn't it? No. Shut up. I can't hear what they're saying. But it's a loud scene, though, isn't it? No, we don't do it in this country. We shouldn't do it anywhere else. It's mostly America, they do it. Yeah. You know what the Americans like. They're a bit excitable. I'm against loudness and inappropriate times. Like, if you're constantly drinking a drink throughout the whole film or eating popcorn throughout the whole film or eating sweets throughout the whole film, that is an instant annoyance from me. Fair enough, fair enough. Yeah, yeah. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to going to films. Very good. Very good. Top man. Yeah. Top man. Shall we have our next one? Yes. This is going to be about you. Oh, I thank you, Lewis. No, about me. Yeah. About me. Thank you. You get faker. [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] In some reception there-- and speaking of-- In some reception we are going to talk about a controversial director that is a bit hit and missed for me, Christopher Nolan. Is he really hit and missed for you, is he? Yes, some films of his are really good, and some are really lazily made and bad. I did not like his film tenant. I didn't like tenant Oliver. I think that's probably the only one I didn't really like. I didn't like his last Batman as well with Bane. Yeah. I wasn't too keen on that one. No. No. Oh, Batman! Oh, yes, Batman, I'm going to bring you back now. Well, you've been on some what they were saying, because you've got him going like, oh, yes, and then you've got Batman going, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. It gets worse as the films go on, doesn't it? Great man, stop talking, just have a punch-up. I want to see two men just beating each other up, I don't want to hear dialogue. No, exactly, exactly, they could have had a completely silent film, and it would have been a lot better, probably. Yes, speaking more, Nolan, do you have a favourite, Nolan? I would say, you've got Inception, which is a real good film, that is a really good film Inception, and you've got Donkirk. Donkirk, that was a really good film, and I can't remember it right now, but I can remember it being really good was the film where he, the film started from the end, and ended in the beginning. On the mental. On the mental, yeah, yeah, that was a real good film. On his body. Yeah, yeah, I really like those films. His early films, I really like, it's just the films where he's a bit too show-offish with sound effects and explosions and things like that. Yeah, so, um, what's the recent one that he's made? Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer, I did not like that. I did not like Oppenheimer because it was all noise, and the dialogue was very dry and boring. Okay, I suppose you could have an interest in that period of history. Yeah, yeah, um- Are you a history buff? Did you like history? Not much. Ah, I suppose you wouldn't like it then. No, um, and, um, the person who made Gladiator. Ridley Scott. Ridley Scott, I don't like most of his films either. I don't like his recent ones. No, no, and he's another one that falls prey to that boring dialogue. Because his early stuff's really good. Well, it probably is. Alien. Alien. Alien. Alien. Fantastic. Blade Runner? Blade Runner, yes. Yeah, I watched the original Alien just this week actually. Did you? Yes. Is that the first one? Son of a beach. Son of a beach. Son of a beach. Indeed. Your phone is talking to us. No. Is that the first time you've seen Alien? Um, I saw it, um, um, um, I saw... It loads the times, I think. Yeah. I always thought the second one would be better. The second one is better. It is better. Yes, it is. Depends with me. Yes. The first one's more horrible. No. You look at Terminator the first film versus Terminator the second film. Um, the first film to me was better, but a lot of people think the second film was better. The first film is more horror orientated. It's a slasher film. Whereas the second film is sets up what people try and copy throughout, um, as you go through the Terminator franchise. Don't bother. They're all terrible after the second film. Oh, yeah. Um, Terminator 3 with an older John Connor. Yeah. Didn't they do one without Arnold as well, where it was set in the future? Yes. Yes. That one wasn't bad. Yeah. Yeah. And then you go. Oh, God. She got the one with old on in it. Uh, yeah, I can't remember. I don't know how. There was one with, um, older Sarah Connor and older on in it and go all that. Oh, God. I remember that one. Yeah. That one was predictable and boring. Phew. It was. Yeah. Yeah. I heard Frick Jack for three o'clock in the afternoon. Yes. I could say to me else, but we're not that type of shit. Yeah. Maybe it'll be past nine o'clock. Yeah. Shall we have on? Next one. Against the current. Here we go. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Against the current there we've all been there trying to swim against the current. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Erg. Erg. Lewis. Yeah. You've brought something in. Yes. Yes. I have. Um, and I knew that it was just going to be us too. So I thought we would, um, have a conversation at one point about it. Um, so it's, um, but with the vampire, sorry, graphic novel, um, time of your life. Time. No, I've never watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Um, it's very gender bending. It's the right word. How so what gender bending means, um, so yeah, when I say bending, I do not mean, um, the other bending that people refer to now gender bending is, um, you have a horror, but you incorporate fantasy elements or drama elements into it. You're mixed. You're mixed. The genre is all together. Yes. Exactly. That's called gender bending. Nice. And, um, Josh Whedon in his early years was a master of doing that. Right. And this, and this comic here is, yes, it is a carry on season eight is, um, and why is it called? Is it because there was seven series of it seven series? Yep. And this is the eighth, um, in the fourth installment of the eighth season. Do you mind if I pick it up? Yeah. Sure. Sure. Sure. Yeah. So, um, each, each part happens in, um, arcs. So you've got, um, the four, the first arc was, um, book one, the, um, second arc was, um, book two, and the third arc book three, et cetera. So, and just for the listeners to prove we're not mental. Yeah. There it is. I hope that can catch pages just to prove we're not mental. Yeah. Exactly. And the artwork is, uh, the artwork is especially beautiful in it. Um, it makes the, um, Buffyverse feel like it's what we call it. Um, actually in the Buffy community, um, Buffyverse. Yeah. Exactly. Um, so. We've got a crazy way with an eyepatch. Yeah. That's, um, Zander. He gets that, um, eye patch during, um, season seven. Yep. And, um, um, Buffy's sister in that one becomes a minus whore. I think she does. I've just seen it. I've just seen her. She's a half. Nay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. I've just, I've just, I've just, I've seen a quilt. I'm here. She's speaking. I want to eat hay. Yeah. Yeah. And each, each shot in that comic book, um, is vastly different to the television series. Even though the television series is an excellent viewing, even today. I suppose with a comic, you're not a strictly fine subject. If it's like a film, it does. And you're not restricted by a budget. No. Exactly. And back then, um, that's how you could make your art look like a film, really. By doing things like that. And, um, yeah, so that's where it all carried on once, um, season seven ended. It appeared to have stumbled across a Blade Runner type scenario where they got futuristic cars. Yes. Yes. In this one. They are in the future. Yes, they are. There's a spider monkey here. Yes. A spider monkey as well. Yeah. Um, well, just, just to live a quote. Yeah. Starbucks. Where's that? Yeah. Yes. Ah, that is the, now quotes like that is what you get all the time in Buffy. So, um, quirky sort of quotes, creepy sort of quotes that you could just quote and things like that. Oh, I've got to never quote you from the, from the Minutal woman. Yeah. Dawn. Yeah. Thank you. Right. And the eye patch geezer. Yeah. Patch geezer. You're pulling my hair. Yeah. Exactly. My hair. My main is my hair. Yeah. There you go. That is quality writing. There you go. That is funny in itself. But it's only good. I don't know. Yeah. That's another quote. It's actually. Yeah. And there was a lot of that in Buffy's quotes that you wrote. There was a lot of that in Buffy's quotes that you read there. We got, we got a golf, we got a tough, but a woman here. Um, a golf woman, um, yes, that is, um, dark willow. I assume you're talking about show you quite a coffee, sort of, um, this one at the bottom is yes, that is dark willow. She looks like, um, this is going to be an obscure. Maybe people will know. Scooby Doo. Yeah. Do you know the, the, the, the Free Singers? Oh, the hex girl. That's the one. The hex girl. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She does. Um, in season six, willow, um, gets addicted to magic. And then. It's a magic. Yes. And then it turns her into something dark. And in, um, this futuristic world, that's the villain that Buffy has to face. Which is dark willow. But they do save willow during season six. I'll have a quote here. If you hate her, she'll be harder to kill. Yeah. Oh my word. What have I stumbled across a naked woman with a naked and a. Yeah, that is a bit of a stabbing shot. That one is, it's a snake. It's a snake. I thought it was a secret. Yeah. Yes. Um, I actually, um, stumbled across that. Very good. I thought I'd, um, give it to, um, show you as you are an initiative to Buffy and see what you thought. Yeah. Well, if I, well, I'll be honest. If I was to start, I would probably start with a series. Yes. Um, yes. Um, I would suggest if you did that, I would suggest, uh, episodes. Uh, episodes to watch because, um, oh, episodes to watch. Um, because I haven't read comics since I was a wee youngster. Yeah. So, um, basically, um, it starts off very, very teeny. It does. But then it gets very dark as the seasons go on. And, um, the early seasons, particularly, you need to just follow the arcs. We'll do. So that's Buffy. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There's, um, little, um, things like, um, there's little guides where it shows you episodes that are crucial for you to watch episodes that are not crucial for you to watch. I don't mean that. I got you, Lewis. I don't need that guide. Oh, God. Yeah. But I used one of those guides. I'll probably, I'll probably know him. I'll probably, if I was to watch it, I'd probably just watch them all. Yeah. That's what you do though, isn't it? You can't stroke gold all the time. Just, just do not judge it on the first couple of seasons. Okay. Yep. This is, oh, a new unit. Here we go. Here we go. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] That's a whistling tip for you. That's a whistling tip there. Can you whistle? No, I cannot. That's two complications. Yep. Just keep practicing and you'll do it. [Music] We've discussed the Buffy comic.
