And you're listening to Sonic Haven with me, Louis. - Me, Jack. - Me, Jaz, hello. - Hello, everybody. Hello, yes, we're back. The three of us are back for this week. Yes, we are. - On the afternoon. - Yes, yeah. On a bit of a cloudy Friday afternoon. Yeah. - Yeah, it is. - It's a bit nippy on that. - Yeah, it is. - It's been in the cold now. - The sun is gone now, everyone. The hot, sunny weather is just gone now. - I think it was long gone anyway. - Yeah, I think so. - Well, it wasn't really here in the first place, was it? - No, no, not here. - I don't think, no. Happened occasionally, but not much, did it? - Welcome to England. - Yeah, exactly. Welcome to England, everybody. - Well, we all talk about the weather. - Yeah. - It's constantly changing. - Yeah. - But constantly the same. - We're not made for the weather, are we? The English, we always moan. - Oh, it's too cold. Oh, it's raining. - Yes, that's what I noticed as well. - Well, really? (laughs) Yeah, so, if you've got gorgeous weather, people still moan because they want some cold. And then if you've got some cold weather, they moan because it's not hot enough. - Bang on. - Yeah. - That's true. (laughs) - Exactly. Willow was through there, a.k.a. orange. You said it kind of reminded you of early 2000s electronic sort of thing, techno, didn't you, dance? - It did. Yeah. It kind of reminded me of the Fast and the Furious movies. - Yeah. - That type of vibe. - Yeah. Yeah. I can really get that, really. - Yeah. - I'm hearing it. - But you said it was a modern track, so. - Yes, it was. - Interesting to hear something like that. - Yes. - Old is the new new. - Yeah. - It is, so. - Yeah. - This is intro by Sophia. (dramatic music) - So if we intro the full horror there. Now I think I may have stumbled across a bit of a horror soundtrack there about realising. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Yeah, maybe it's a film, maybe it's not. - Yeah, exactly. It had a very psychedelic sort of vibes to it, it did. - Yeah, it was very nice, very ambient. - Yeah, ambient, yeah. - ♪ That's trapped there pretending to be a ghost. - It's terrifying. - Yeah, exactly. - It is October. - It is, yes. - It's a good time for dark ambience ghosts. - Yes, yes it is. [laughter] - Mm. - Full for you by bank here. - Bay and K, full for you there. This is an ink stain that we're staring at on the piece of paper, which is a sort of video that goes with the song. And it's quite fascinating actually, isn't it? - Yeah, so it was Spotify, you can upload visuals. - Yes. - And the visual image. - Yes, you can. - It kind of resembles an ink stain. - It resembles what? It puts you in the mindset of the actual music I think it does. It's whatever it does. - Yeah, puts you in a bit of a trance. - Yeah, it does. So like intro Sophie, you would get this spacey sort of look of the animation on that visual there. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Yeah. - You know that song kind of reminded me of? - What? - Weirdly. It's Phil Collins. - Okay. - Yeah. - I can think of the name of the song now that I can feel it coming in the air tonight. I don't think that's the name of the song. - Okay. - I know the song that you're talking about. - Yeah. - I can't remember the name of it though. - Yeah. - Well, you mean his songs, not just Phil Collins himself? - No, it's music. - Yeah. - The drums kind of reminded me of that. - Yeah. You. Originally, he was a fantastic drummer. - Indeed. - Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. My dad actually told me a story about Phil Collins where he was a part of a band with a man that dressed as a starfish or something every time he went up. Flower. Land. Every time he went on. And then he couldn't do it. And then they needed somebody that sounded just like that person and then Phil Collins fit that build. And then that's how he became a singer. - Really? Yeah. - Janisys. Janisys, wasn't it? - Janisys. Yes, it was. Janisys. Yeah. The original singer of Janisys. He sounded like the original singer. And that's where I gave in that thing as a singer. Really. He was originally in Janisys, the drummer. I think he was. - I like Janisys. I know people don't, but I like them. - They have like an interesting style. I think their style is quite like niche. Definitely an acquired taste. Yeah. Was it like a hard sort of rocky sort of sound? Not necessarily hard rock. I'd say it had more electronic elements to it. But definitely rock influence as well. Yeah. Yeah. Kind of strange. Yeah. Interesting to listen to. This is Sad Girl by Tasha now. God bless her. Well, she'd hide inside her room next to the records that she could ask. Looking for better ways to spend the hours and the days that don't connect. She was down on herself. And just wishing that she had someone to say. Sometimes the sad feels better than feeling good. And that's okay. Sometimes we do want blue skies. Fade away into clouds. Perfect gray. She thought a life of just happiness. Pretty sad, anyway. She was a sad girl. Lonely girl. And sometimes late at night. The only one in the world. The only one. Stay inside. Stay lost in the ceiling. Just trying to find someone. Something to believe in. That slight feeling that we keep her still. And the days that run on too long. So she'd surround herself with noise. Stop her silence from switching on. She'd scream her out while sitting on dying stars. She wished upon. Just wishing she was normal. Her friends all said the same. But she wasn't really there. Lost and thought. Giving sad for her own name. Cause she was a sad girl. A lonely girl. Sometimes late at night. But they only one. In the world. The only one in which the ground would open. Swallow her up. Cause her mum would softly ask. As you hold someone. They refuse to be loved. And maybe you've seen her too. Head down in the blue. This sad girl who stayed alone. Cause it was all that she ever knew. [Music] Tasha, sad girl. A bit of like spoken read poetry there. And accompanied by more beautiful visuals. I think. Didn't exactly take you in the moment though. Well. What a spoken poetry. Spoken poetry is what you just heard there. Spoken words. Like modern Shakespeare then. To be or not to be. Yeah. Exactly. Romeo, let down your hair. Yes. Yes. Exactly. Exactly like that. Easy peasy then. [Laughs] God. [Laughs] This is. Angie now. Angie Schneider. Angie Schneider. Yes. Turning my head. Turning my head. Here we go. [Music] They said I was wrong. [Music] They say I was much too cold. [Music] But I just couldn't get in the mood. [Music] What do they call me or is it? [Music] But when do you teach me? [Music] Touch me. I get a rush. [Music] [Music] But when do you touch me? [Music] Oh, I get a rush. [Music] [Music] When you touch me. [Music] [Music] When you touch me. [Music] When you touch me. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] A really interesting journey of pure music for six and a half minutes there turning my head and that was a real good entrance sort of listening I think it was. Yeah, very, very fancy indeed. Yeah, I think so. Lot of ping pong noises. Yeah, that sound felt like it was in the room. Yeah, didn't it? Yeah, that sort of sound. Yes, yeah, I completely agree with you there. I wonder if they actually didn't affect to make it sound like that or if they actually did it in the room. I think it's just because it's very loud and very dry with a strong tone. Yeah. It just stands out. You shut up playing that ping ball but you want to record a song here. Yeah, maybe that. Yeah, and they just just started keeping it. [Music] That kind of works actually. Yeah, that probably was it. Yeah. We've got a Casbo next. Here we go. Yeah, here we go.
