#1 Queer Psychology

In this episode I talk about Queer Psychology with Gabriela Moita. Gabriela obtained her PhD in 2001 from the university of Porto writing about "discourses on homosexuality in the clinical context". In the first half of the podcast we discuss the omnipresence of heteronormativity within the field of psychoanalysis. Consequently, Gabriela explains why she therefore prefers psychodrama as it enables people to set their own frame and rules of the game instead of being pushed into predetermined ones. In the second half, we turn towards identity and Gabriela talks about her work with the LGBTQIA+ community. We address politics of recognition, the question of visibility, as well as the status of human rights in our utopian world. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did ! & I am your host Béla Belissima, non-binary soul from Berlin on the quest to dismantle our cis-heteronormative world and look beyond all binaries. Re-writing our narratives and telling our own stories. Come join me.
