Charles Franklin on Declining Public School Satisfaction in Wisconsin

Less than half of Wisconsin voters say they’re satisfied with their local public schools, according to the latest Marquette Law School poll. That’s the lowest approval rating yet since the poll started asking about school satisfaction more than ten years ago. And when voters were asked to rate the success of education policies like phonics, school choice, and special ed programs, around a quarter of them answered that they didn’t know enough to have an opinion. That’s on the rise compared to previous data - despite the fact that these are some of the most talked about education issues in the state. Charles Franklin is the director of the Marquette Law School poll. He told WORT News Producer Faye Parks today that they plan to follow up on the same questions in the coming months, in an effort to determine if these numbers are a one-off or an enduring trend.
