Assembly District 48 Candidate Andrew Hysell Says He’ll Protect Abortion and LGBTQIA+ Rights

Wisconsin’s partisan primary is on August 13, when voters will head to the polls to narrow down the number of candidates who will appear on the ballot in November. This is the first statewide election since Governor Tony Evers signed Wisconsin’s new legislative district maps into law earlier this year. The Democratic primary for state Assembly District 48 is especially crowded; five candidates are running to represent the district, which encompasses Sun Prairie and parts of Madison’s far east side and Dodge County. Andrew Hysell is one of those candidates. He told WORT News Producer Faye Parks yesterday that he would fight to add an explicit privacy right in the state constitution - in a bid to protect abortion rights and the LGBTQIA+ community.
