(upbeat music) - Good morning, Chicago, and welcome in to the Captain J. Good Morning Show on a ESPN 1000, and we're streaming on the ESPN Chicago ad. With David Kaplan, Jonathan Hood with you. We've got Shane, we've got J. Moore, and we've got you here. On this football Friday, this Bears Friday, Bears take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, our cover starts at 5 a.m. When Jeff Miller with the Fantasy Football Show, and then of course, six o'clock, we get underway with our coverage, 8.30 kick. Sunday morning right here on the home of the Bears, ESPN 1000, cannot wait for the Bears and Jags Gap. And we've had so many great experts. We're blessed to have so many different people to talk to about the Bears through a different lens. Whether it's the reporter lens from Albert Brere, whether it's the playing end from Waddle and Thayer, the intrepid reporting end from Courtney Cronin on the bus. We get the coverage. - That was awesome. - We get full coverage all the way around. - That was awesome, man. That was awesome. - We even got a thumbs up from the boss. - That was cool. - Who's that? - My wife. - The Jayhawk. - Oh, I thought my wife chimed it. The boss, you said. - The boss. - I see. - Danny. - Some thoughts here from Tom Thayer regarding the Bears and Jaguars matchup should be interesting. We believe we have not made our official predictions, but we believe the Bears are going to win, but Tom gives his thoughts on the Bears and Jags. - You know, the middle of the field does concern me because with your quant brisker not being here, Kevin Byard making one of the greatest interceptions I've seen in a long time by a Bears safety last week. It seems like that middle area of the Bears defense is more attackable, more inviting because there's a lot of respect for Jalen and Tariq on the corner position. And if they get sturdy of enough protection and they got Mitch Morris and Shref, the other offensive guard there that have a lot of experience and they got decent tackles. And then Trevor Lawrence is six, six plus, but he's turned over the balls, I think 62 times in the last few years. So he's the type of guy that he's going to take a chance and he's going to try to fit it into a tight window. Sometimes it results in an interception. So if they can kind of formulate a plan to secure that middle area of the field a little bit better, I think Doug Peterson being a former quarterback, being with the Green Bay Packers, being with the Miami Dolphins, he understands exactly what you're seeing cap, that there's vulnerability in this defense. If you can hold up that interior offensive line protection, keep the quarterback some security in his spot in the backfield and take advantage of some crossing routes. And they got legit receivers. There's, you know, Evan Ingram is going to come back and play, he's only played one game this year, but he's a tight end that kind of gives them that middle area of the field opportunities. - No, the Bears are not a full strength, especially their secondary cap. But the point is though, there's enough upfront for the Bears to disrupt Lawrence in their offense. It's sweat, it's Dexter, it's Billings Walker, at least they're healthy. But we do have some concern about the secondary, but I guess from this standpoint with the Bears, this next man up, agreed. You get an opportunity when you're the backup, you're going to practice every day going, I can play, I deserve my opportunity. Well, guess what? We reported Jason Leeser was the first to tweet it out that Tyreek Stevenson's been downgraded to doubtful because of a cap injury that he suffered in practice yesterday. That's not good because Jaquan Brisker isn't even there. He's out with a concussion. And even if he had cleared the protocol, I thought it was paramount of the importance that you did not bring him there. No eight hour flight each way, no violent game collisions. We'll see in two weeks 'cause there's a buy coming up. So I absolutely 1,000% think they're making the right call on him, that's one. Losing Tyreek Stevenson's a big loss. Okay, next man up, let's go. You heard there talk about the pension for the Jaguars that turned the ball over. You're talking about Trevor Lawrence. Again, another opportunity for the Bears to be opportunistic, especially in that secondary to get some takeaways, some turnover. But I think that's right in the cards for the Bears. It's what they do. It's funny, when we watch Lovey Smith all those years, the number one thing you talked about is takeaways. Takeaways, takeaways. And I don't know where that is on the chart of things that's important for the Bears 'cause we're not privy to that like it was with Lovey 'cause Lovey would talk about it openly. Getting the ball out, punching the ball out. Flip it for the offense. But the Bears find a way to be able to get these interceptions. Now they're always in the right spot. It starts with Jalen Johnson and just moves his way through that secondary room. - Yeah, as I watched that all 22 and we talked about that with Tom and you played some of it, that middle of the field, even when healthy concerns me a bit, we saw Matthew Stafford being able to use the middle of the field. - Okay, now no Tyrek Stevenson and no Brisker. That concerns me. Evan Ingram as a good receiver came from the Giants. He's a tight end, not a great blocker, but he's a really, really mobile dude who can catch the football and do something with it after the catch. That concerns me. I think the linebackers have to have a great day on Sunday. Great day because if Trevor Lawrence is putting up 355 yards and two touchdowns, I think we're in some trouble here. That is a key for me. Run a football, make plays down the field in the passing game when they're there, put them on their, kind of back on their heels like, "Oh God, we got to score again." - Yeah. - And then see if you can turn your guys loose up front to eat. Like Billings. - You mean back on your heels like Braxton Jones more times than that and left tackle or that kind of thing. - I want them that way, yes. Yes. - I went ahead and played a couple of weeks ago. Braxton Jones was bent backwards. - Yeah, because he's like this, trying to get back. - Look, I never played offensive line in the NFL and I never will. - I, you know. - You've had some experience on the O line. - Yes. - He's too upright. First of all, he doesn't have enough heft in the rear end. - Yeah. - I know he lifts weights and he's just not that strong. And when he goes back and he gets upright, they bulrush him back into the backfield, not Caleb's like, "Oh God, come on. "I need a little top, give me another second." - Yeah. - And that's a problem. - So I think it gets upgraded in the off-season or at the trade down, then probably in the off-season. But, but run the football, punch them in the mouth, make plays when they're there and don't turn the football over, period. - Shane Waldron is the offensive coordinator for the Bears. He spoke to the press in the UK talking about the offensive line. Just trying to work together as one. - Yeah, I think starting up front, those guys have done a great job of sticking together. I know it started out where we were trying to gain some more yards, obviously, in the run game and those first couple games there. But I saw a group that really stuck together right there, worked on communication, worked on, you know, the details that they felt could help them improve as they were hitting blocks and getting in phase with the runners. And like everything, you know, the run game's gonna take all 11 receivers, tight ends, quarterback, getting us in and out of things. So I think those guys just sticking with it, trusting their process, Chris Morgan and Haas have done a good job of leading the way right there. So every single week, whether it's been a win or a loss, we're coming in on Monday and looking at ways to improve. And I think those guys are stuck with that process. And so the results will come when the process is right. - No, no, Waldron, there is no loss. It's win. Now, winner loss, win. Yes, even after a win, you're trying to improve on stuff. Ask cap. He's been in that dark room with the tape. Even after a victory, trying to find ways to improve, trying to get better. That was you. It's your job. Even after a victory, you felt good about it for how long? - You would go-- - 10 minutes. - Unless you were traveling back and we didn't have laptops with video on them back then. But the next day you would come in, you'd set a cup of coffee down and then you'd have the film. Put it on. We can't do that, even though you won. - Yes. - You'd eat something on the way back on the bus. And if you were at home, I had to drive to Chicago on Grand Avenue and bring the film. And then I'd have to wait two to three hours down here. I'd go eat lunch, walk around. All right, the film's ready. And I'd drive it all the way back to DeKalb. And then I'd have to figure out how you thread the projector. Like this is the old days, man. The old days. But you'd go through it, then you'd get into practice. Just get back, do it, eat a sandwich while I'm doing it. And then we'd go to practice. All right, Dennis Douglas. What are you doing here? You cannot put the ball in that position. Coach, we won. I don't care. We got to play ball state on Saturday. They're not going to let you do that. They get filmed too, you know. That's it. All right, turn the lights on. (laughing) - That's you said your piece. - Now turn the lights on. - That's it. - Talking about that running game, part of the offensive line as well. It's starting to look really well. - I think every week we're always going to be looking for that balanced attack. So, you know, starting with the run game when we're efficient with runs. And then that efficiency can lead to explosives, right? We saw it this past week with Swift on the left side or in the week before when we were able to run one in from, you know, 30 something out. So, sticking with the run game, staying efficient. It's always going to allow our full offense to come to life. - The Chicago Bears will win if, fill in the blank. 3-1-2-3-3-2-3-7-7-6 is our phone number. In beautiful Homewood, here is Lewis on cap and J-hood. Lewis, good morning. - Hey, what's up, blood? How you guys doing? - What's up, brother? How are you? - I'm well, me or my nose, I'm well. I just want to say one thing. We shouldn't look past Jacksonville. I feel a lot of people looking past them like they're going to be a pushover. A good offense, two good receivers. They have a martial folk type running back. We know that Lawrence keeps swinging the ball at stone over 4,000 yards two years in a row. And we're going to be without brisket, so I'm more worried about this game than any game we've had so far. - That says a lot for Houston, by the way. And he says a lot for the Houston game. You weren't concerned about that one? - Well, yeah, but I really wasn't worried, worried. I don't know, I'm just really worried about what Jacksonville can do. I know what they can do with offense, and they're kind of underrated. Even though they have a bad record, all I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if we lose this game. And I'm really, really worried because we're playing without brisker, who I feel is like the quarterback on defense for us. So that's why I'm just concerned about this game. - Yeah, I think you went into the Houston game and I don't want to speak for you, Lewis. But I did not, I don't believe I picked the Bears to win that game. I thought let's go compete and see if we can surprise people. This game, I am picking the Bears. Do I think Trevor Lawrence could have a huge day? Absolutely, he was the number one pick in the draft and he's a really good football player. He is, has he been everything they expected? No, but they've got Brian Thomas Jr. The kid who you don't even remember this, but I listened to everything you say. Last year before the draft, you said that other kid at LSU, 'cause they had the other receiver, Malik Neighbors. You said the other kid's just as good. You loved Brian Thomas Jr. They have him and they have an Ingram coming back and that got tank Bigs B when it gets out of the coffee stand. They got offensive weapons, they do. And that quarterback got $275 million this summer. He's talented. So yeah, there's some concern there, no doubt. - Shay, you are a, well actually, I can't even pinpoint you as like which coffee you like, 'cause I've seen you drink Dunkin' and Starbucks, but the Big B Coffee in Detroit, where is that rank? And it's in Chicago now too, by the way, that coffee that you grew up with. Where is that rank as far as your coffee choices? - Low, I grew up with Tim Hortons. The Big B Bagels are better than the coffee. Coffee, there's not great. - Oh, I love their coffee. We buy the toasted coconut coffee and have it shipped. - The Big B Coffee? - Big B Coffee. Love it, went to a place in Michigan. We were like vacationing, we rented a house, the kids. And I, no coffee here in this house. So I drove like four or five miles down the road in this rural area, Big B. I went in and I'm like, this coffee's amazing. I love their coffee, big fan. - I've never had it, but I just know. - They're in like the region, like northwest Indiana. - It's in, there's one in Joliet. Big B? - Yeah. - I did not know that. - Sure would. - I'm actually, my favorite one I found now, is Scooter's Coffee. And they're coming in this area, they've already started opening. I think they're out in Schamberg, but they're huge in Wisconsin. Scooter's Coffee, I'm all in on Scooter's Coffee. - Okay, let's go back to what I asked, if you don't mind. - Yeah. - So, Shay, the Big B Coffee, what makes it not as good? Do they have iced and all the other stuff too? - I think they have all the, I just, I never liked the coffee when I went there and I was a hop, skipping a jump from Canada. I could throw a stone and hit a Canadian, so Tim Hortons was all over the place. - Yeah, okay, did you ever do that, by the way? Do you ever hit that stone? - Thought about it a lot. - Through it at and on, somebody from Ontario. Did you decide to do that? - Thought about it often. - Okay. - But Tim Hortons was always my choice. Big B was never for me. - Tim Hortons is big in the hockey games. I always see there on the dashboards that Tim Hortons at. - We don't have, in fact, that's where my luggage was, when it was lost. - Timmy Hose. - Remember, we looked on the, I had an air tag and my luggage that was lost in the Toronto Airport this summer in June and it kept saying it was right outside the Tim Hortons, or as you call it, Timmy Hose. Yeah, at the Toronto Airport, I finally got it back. - Yeah? - Back to the Jacksonville discussion about Tank Bigs B. - Coffee? - His real name is Cartavius. I told you, I promised I'd give you that before the show ended. Cartavius Tank Bigs B. He's from Lagrange, Georgia. Did he play it, George? - You see that first name? - Cartavius? - He played it Auburn. - Yeah. - He played it Auburn. - That first name? Probably Southern. - Yes. Cartavius. - I never knew a Cartavius. - Probably Southern, it's almost a key and peel bit, but yes, Cartavius, not a surprise. Coming up, something very special for the Friday folder at 935. - What do you got? - On to, 'cause I got something for you too. - Well, I mean, no, I mean, it's what you have. You are gonna vote early vote often. Are you not at 935? - I've actually been back there with Jay Moore voting on the Grammys. - Yeah. - I'm a Grammy voter this year. So I picked a handful of categories that Jay Moore let me go on his computer, do the little research. My kids helped me out a lot. There's so many of the people that are nominated or have entered. I've never heard of them. - It's typical of the show, but once again, not referring to the person on your left to help you with these things. - You don't know most of that music. - You're old. - Really? - It is amazing, folks. How much he underestimates anything, 'cause it's almost an intuitation forum that I know things that he doesn't. It's weird. Like, I think that we can learn from each other, not cap though. - He doesn't know, take that. - That's how it is. - You could at least refer or come over. Hey, honey, you know what, I'm voting on these things. Could you help me? Do you know any of the, are you familiar with this art? Is this any good? Nope, doesn't do that. - He doesn't know 'cause I don't know. Ha, ha! Take that. - He doesn't refer to me. That's what he does. But the pay's good. Coming up, we will take more of your phone calls. The Chicago Bears will win if on cap and J-hood. - No. - If you miss something, get the podcast on the ESPN Chicago app. Jab and J-hood are back on Chicago's Home for Sports. ESPN Chicago. - It's a cap and J-hood Morning Chill on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. We're with you till 10 o'clock and then my green bird comes in at 10 followed by Carmen and Yurco. They're broadcasting live from Buffalo Wild Wings in. - Berwin. - And then Waddlin' Sylvie, as they said, a son of Swiggly Berwin. - There you go. - Waddlin' Sylvie at 230 into Northwestern against Maryland. David in it on the call. Has a wild pants or a town, 38 to 13, pending the extra point. Hmm, coming back, keep listening. - I guess I should sit in the car in the driveway. - Sounds like they're rallying, Ted. - You're like me as I'm a radio geek. - Yes. - As we grew up, I got to pull in the driveway. - I got to hear this a minute. - You can tell by the inflection of the announcer and like you hear lead Casper and he would do a call and you'd be like, oh, back in it. Hold on, there's men on base. I gotta stay right here. Hang on, maybe I'll be ready. And it, who I love, he's the greatest. - The best. - You hear this like passionate call. - Yes. - And you go, oh, I'm gonna stay in the car and listen this. And then it's 56, 14, but the cat's goin' for two. - Wait a minute. But it sounded like a rally's coming. - And now the program is at a much better place. - Onside kicked, they're right back in it. Hold on a second, you go in the house, I'm gonna listen. - Thank you, coach Fitzgerald. He should get the credit for building that thing. - You mispronounced Coach Walker, what's that? - Coach Barnett got him to purple to Pasadena. Then the late Randy Walker, who I loved, won the big 10. - Fantastic. - He tragically passed and then... - Fits. - Yeah, no question. - Built that whole thing. So let's go. - So, Bleckhamdala on their YouTube channel, youtube.com, look for Bleckhamdala for their show as we give you Northwestern Maryland. - Let's do it. - Shadow Station, 3-1-2-3-3-2-E-S-P-A-A-Hock, making moves, man. 3-3-2-3-7-7-6 is our poll number. Speaking of shadows, here's Eddie over the north side on cap and J-hood. Eddie, good morning. - Good morning. Did you guys see that play where the NFL said, $20 billion company that they didn't have the cameras is prime video did to overturn the call when it should have been 49ers ball? - Late in the game, 3rd half football, yeah. - Yeah, that's just unbelievable to me that I don't know that whole thing, but as bad as the 49ers look, the last couple of weeks and everything, you know, losing them in games late, I'm thinking they're done and then I look up on the standings and I'm talking about all the teams and even the Bears. They lead the division now. And even the Bengals aren't out of it. You get a loss by the top and one win by them. They're a game out of first place. So even though Minnesota's 5-0, I think the Bears got a shot. They can even still take the division with a couple of losses like that. - Depends. And the Bears can get to where they want to get to in the postseason if they go, what is it, Kath? What are you talking about the other day? Like not 3-3, but they could be under 500 against the Vikings or the Packers and still get in. The Bears? - They could. - They could. You can't get trucked from the division. You gotta win some. You have to. - It's funny that you mentioned that, Eddie, and we appreciate the telephone call. - Thanks, Eddie. - Have a great weekend. - I didn't hear anything rattling around in the truck. Is Eddie still working? - Yeah, lunch. - Wow. - Probably lunch, I don't know. - A couple calls ago, he could hear all the meadow rattling. - Yeah. You know what, Shea, remember when Cap said, like after the Socks and Cups seasons, like yeah, I just took the night off. Just like God. - Yeah, unbelievable. - But here's the thing, even today, I gotta get used to Thursday Night Football. I was so immersed in the baseball, rooting for Shea, rooting for his Tigers, watching the, you know, watching Kansas City. - There is no question. - Just be overwhelmed. - I forgot. - Watching the baseball playoffs this year. - Yeah. - Far better than Thursday Night Football. I'll get plenty of football. The baseball playoffs have been magnificent. - It has, however, it's one of these things where it's on your, you know, you got your TV set up, Cap, like, all right, baseball here, baseball here. As an ancillary college football game, we'll put that on monitor three or four. But Shea, you know what happened is, is that I'm watching the baseball, and I forgot about the 49er game. I totally forgot about it. - Yeah, Cody, I'm right there with you. And honestly, I think a part of it is the NFL product this year. It hasn't been great. Quarterback play across the board's been atrocious. A lot of the games have been bad watches. And when you're getting what we're getting in baseball playoffs, that's a better product being delivered to me. - Okay, I think the Yankee game was over. I'm like, what are all the sports? And like, Utah still on. And was it the Louisiana Tech play yesterday? Shea something like that? - Yeah, I think so. - And it was like, oh yeah. So I know what Eddie's talking about, 'cause I tuned in late in the third quarter. Okay, so bad. - Again, we get plenty of football, and I'll get a ton of football. You cannot tell me that a Thursday night game early in the season is better than Timmy Trump at coming out, and here comes Edwin Diaz. - I get it. - To put the Phillies down, and there's that man on base for Schwarmer, and I know Sylvie. Sylvie had his fingers right on his iPhone, probably a little wine into him. So wine fingers ready to go when he hit a home run to come right at me, go. - Beer leagues football player, huh? At the Catman instead. - And now it's in his drafts. - Rock 'em out. - See you later, thanks for coming. That entrance for Edwin Diaz is one of the coolest things I have seen in a long, long time, especially when Timmy Trump at his there, and he gets the trumpet, and then he's dancing around the place goes insane. - So ridiculous. - It's the best. - I don't know what to make of. - It's fun, obviously it's fun. It's some of the best that we've seen because we've seen all these series tied at one at some point. Kansas City got overwhelmed yesterday. It's just what it is, like, Kansas City, and it just goes to show you. It's what Shea has said in the past, and which is still true today. Cap, if you're an owner, immediately baseball, if you want to spend money, you can. It's your choice. There is no small market in major league baseball. It's BS. - Agreed. - It's so ridiculous, like, all of a sudden, we were sitting here, and it came across our screen. Bobby with signs for what? - 285 million. - The Royals? - The Kansas City Royals? You can spend if you want to spend, Cap. And this is, and it's so frustrating as a White Sox fan sitting on the sidelines building the playoffs for the American League Central. 'Cause they beat our ass every night. - Correct, but the thing is you've got Garrett Crochet, who's at 26 years old. You had Dylan Cece in his 20s. Trade him. - Why don't you sign those guys? - Cheap. - And not understanding about the future, building toward the future. - There is no way anyone could tell me that the White Sox would have given Bobby with 285 million dollars if he was with them. - No shot. - They would have written it out in arbitration and then traded him. - And Cap, just the way that they did, like, it's more than just Bobby with. It's a way of playing. You see what the Royals did? They made sure their 345 is set up in the lineup. They just got cast offs at the top and the bottom of the lineup. But you know what they did? They were very good offensively. They were patient offensively. Yeah, why are the Tigers in this situation? Ask Jay why the Tigers, because they're one of the most patient hitting teams in the big leagues. They take pitches. - Yeah. - They're riding on the crest of Scooble, their starter. But damn it, they have an opportunity here to go to the next level. They have an opportunity because they're just that fun team. - So Tiger Met, you ready for this, Jay? How about a Tiger Met World Series? - All right, let me listen. - How about that? That sounds good. - Cody, I like what you're doing. Can I get through tomorrow, please? - Okay, I won't report them then. - Let me just, I like where your eye at, just let me get through tomorrow before I start thinking about anything else. - Just trying to support you. - Shay, win or lose? You got to a decisive winner take all game and you have your ace. I'm full rest, right? - Full rest. Yeah, we're putting the best pitcher on the globe on the mile and tomorrow when a decisive game. - That's right. - Now, I remember going into the wild card game in 2015 and we had on full rest, the best pitcher on the planet that year, Jake Arietta. And he was tweeting at the pirate fans. Whatever makes you guys feel good, I'll find it's tweet. Just know it's over, you're gonna lose. And he got up on the plane and he grabbed the phone that the flight, I almost called her, Stuart. - Oh my God, I can't. - The flight attendant. - Come on, man. - Better known as toots, go ahead. - The flight attendant puts. - Sweetheart. - He took the fault and he said attention, just letting you guys know they're not score tomorrow night. And it's over. Shwarmer hits one in the Allegheny River. See you later, have a good one. - So I'm clear Shay, is still undecided for Cleveland? - Yeah, so they got a bullpen going. (laughing) - I think it's gonna be Matthew Boyd again, but we'll see. This is, let me just tell you a cap. Just from my standpoint, I think the Tigers have it. And you know why? 'Cause Cleveland is sliding into the lake. Their sports teams are just, they're going through a tough time right now. I'm just telling you, I think it's their time. - I hope for Shay's sake, they win. - He doesn't want my rooting interest. - No, I do, I'm just, I can't start thinking about World Series, I gotta get through tomorrow. - So I looked up, Arietta's tweet. Here's what it was, October 4th, 2015 at 5.29 PM. Whatever helps keep your hope alive, just know it doesn't matter. And that was that pirate parrot. Yeah. - Okay. - That's awesome, like when you go into a game, how good must you as a teammate feel that your guy is like, whatever helps keep your hope alive, just know it doesn't matter, bam, shut you out. And you know who the starting pitcher was that night for the pirate? - Jesse Jackson. - Peep hope alive. - Wow, Jericho, Garrett Cole, who's a beast. Who's the number one pick that draft? See you later, thanks for coming. - The Friday folder, special edition is next on the Captain J. Hood Morning Show. - Peep hope alive. - Captain J. Hood are back. - And you know this, man. - Chicago's home for sports. - ESPN Chicago. - 'Cause it's fun. - It's time for the Friday folder. - Anything else you do? - On the Captain J. Hood Show. - Time for the Friday folder here on Captain J. Hood and it's brought to you by. - That would be my friends, my wife, Mark Malnotti, Mike Archer, Lou, Mal, Notties. Go to luemalnotties.com, get a location near you. Go to tastesofchicago.com to ship all their Chicago treats around the United States, friends, family, business associates, and the like. And today's a Friday. My friends, Adam of Dolla and Chris Black always tell me Friday is a pizza day. So, call Malnotti's, go online and get an awesome pizza, get the chocolate chip cookie pizza for dessert, and the salad that my friend Hoodie likes, the Malnotti salad, with the sweet vinaigrette dressing. - That only is it a great night for pizza, but this weekend is gonna be great for hockey. - Yeah, our friends at the Wolves play their opener tomorrow and our friend Chris Cook said, you guys sound great, man, love the show, listen every morning, can you just mention that the Wolves open their season tomorrow night against the Malnotti admirals at Allstate Arena? Prices are family-friendly, can have a great time, and they've renewed their affiliation with the outstanding Carolina Hurricanes, so they're a new coach, Cam Abbott, ready with his club, and they're always in the mix to win the championship. So, if you're looking for something to do Saturday night, go to the Wolves game at Allstate Arena. - Yeah, by the way, walking downtown, you'll see these Wolves sweatshirts. - All the time. - People still run all the time, it's got it. - And the white-- - It's interesting. - It's a maroon in yellow or gold, to your disease. - Yes, we are Chicago, we are the Wolves. - Here's Shay Norlin. - All right, I'm gonna start with Captain, his Grammy ballot that he won from J-Moor, because this guy has been just oscillating back and forth during commercial breaks. He's back here, huddled around J-Moor's computer, looking over the Grammy ballot, and hoodie in the first break of the show. Cap walked back and said to J-Moor, I think it would be a disservice to the Academy if I voted in your place. I don't think I wanna do this, because he doesn't know anyone. - Oh, I'm looking at all these people, and I'm asking my kids, I'm like, that's not really a singer, right? They're like, yeah, that's a super popular site, never heard of them. - I didn't stop you from voting for judges. (laughing) - Well, I take the newspaper into the thing, 'cause when my dad was alive, he was a lawyer, I go, "Dad, you know any of these judges?" Yeah, he's a bad guy, that guy's a great judge, he's awesome. - I just hope for this lady, this guy, however, he's been gone. - Yes. - It's a tape rule, one of 2,000. - So, Cap went in the dark. - I take the newspaper in. (laughing) - We're in the duchess legal by the way. - I just did, but we're in the dark. - Yeah. - When he comes to that. All right, so, Cap, you won the bet, so you're gonna have to be able to vote on some of these things, correct? - Yeah, so I voted for song of the year, I think I have album of the year in there, so I picked, you can vote up to five in each category. There's like thousands of nominees, thousands. - Mm-hmm. - So I voted for Taylor Swift, she's part of a group with Post Malone. - See, I know, Jay Moore. - All right. - I voted for Chapel Rohn, who I love Pink Pony Club. My grandkids love Pink Pony Club. - That's the instrumental we're playing right now. - Okay, all right, that's what that is, okay. Thank you, Jay Moore. - Yeah. - I didn't, actually I had no idea. - Big fan, my granddaughter, Nora, loves Pink Pony Club and Chapel Rohn, so I absolutely voted there. - Is that an artist or a place to go? - Chapel Rohn is an artist. - Okay. - And she actually had to be moved off the stage, they had her on at Lala Palooza, because the crowd was so big, it's the biggest in the history of Lala Palooza, they had to move her to a main stage, and it was insanity. Insanity, she's great. - Was she the main event? - One of them, she had the top of the card? - Yeah. - Wasn't planned that way, but she's just blown up, she's phenomenal. And then I voted for Bruce Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scalfa, and those are my three choices for Song of the Year. - Had to get the boss in there. - I had to get the boss. - He's in sports radio, he had to. (applause) - So there you go. - If it wasn't him, it was gonna be Hanley voting for Springsteen. - There you go. So I have made my contribution to the Academy, and I hope that if any of those three win, that when they go to get their award, their trophy at the Grammys? - Yes. - I'd like to thank a new voter in Chicago for putting me over the top. - No shot at the cap, man. - I think those three are safe. I think you're gonna have a winner out of those, definitely for sure. - I got a shot. - Taylor Swift doing her acceptance speech. I couldn't have done it without my boyfriend Travis and David Kaplan in Chicago. I pass out. - That would be the great. And you should follow him at the cap now. (laughter) - Oh my gosh. - Did you imagine? - You would have eight million followers in 20 minutes. - Wait a minute, how come I went from 136,000 to 80 million? Oh, Taylor shouted me out at the Grammys. - Mindy, look at this, this is unbelievable. Take that. - So, I think that's outstanding. At least you were able to vote to be part of it. - Yes, and for people going, why did you get the vote? Jay Moore and I had a bet on a game. I won, he lost, and the bet was, I would either have to buy his lunch or I got to use his Grammy ballot. - Yeah, that's equal. There's equity in those two stakes. - Adam Abdullah just texted me. He had a question regarding the song of the year. - Yes, Adam. - And the record of the year was the difference. - Yes, Adam. - The song of the year is just for the songwriters. The record of the year is for the artists and the songwriters, so that's the difference. - Jay Moore, how difficult is this, by the way, the ballot? - It's not difficult at all. I mean, we used to have to mail them in. That was difficult. - They're trying to find a stamp. - Yeah, okay. - And just so you know, as I did my homework, talked to my kids, Swift has never won the award for song of the year. That's one of the few feathers in her cap. She has not been able to garner yet. - Don't know if we can use that phrase anymore. - And by the way, - All right, Jay. - Shout out to Tay Tay. - Oh, let's not, okay. - She just gave $5 million to Hurricane Relief. She's one of the most generous celebrities we've ever seen. - All right, what else do we have here on the mix? - Love you, Tay Tay. - You are begging for that shout out. - I am. - That is sad. I have beef with Kevin Zepack after he filled in yesterday and slandered my name over me, removing him from a group show. - You do know he's injured right now, right? - Because he fell off a scooter. - On his face. - Dude, he looks like Mike Tyson got a temp tool on his side of his face. - Yeah, your skill is you. Have better balance. - I've always said that about him. He should have better balance. - Fall off a scooter. - Mike Zepack. - Kevin Tyson. - Mike's dad. - So I did remove him from the group chat because I, listen, he is not a Cleveland fan. As far as I know, he doesn't have a wager on Cleveland in the game. So he waits until the score is five nothing in game one and then fires off in the group chat. Tiger's looking good. I simply wasn't having it. I removed him. And then he's gonna bitch about his comedic timing. Well, he must have missed because he wasn't in the chat at the time that everybody laughed at the fact that I removed him and Tyler Ocky even fired a screenshot of one Kevin Zepack hat in hand texting Tyler. Can you please add me back to the chat? - Wow. - Now I did add him back about half hour later once I let go of some steam. But is this not the worst friend move that you can make? You have no involvement in the game. Your friend's team is playing poorly and you rub salt in the wound? That's a bad friend. - Shay, tune out the Matote, kid. A thousand voices in your head or on your green or your keyboards. Just tune him out, man. - You tune him out, he blocked him. - Yeah, I got rid of him. I eliminated the voice entirely. - I understand your point of why you did that, Shay, because during Georgia, Alabama, it's funny, some of these Alabama fans, not Abdullah, I wanna make sure that's very clear. Some of these guys only became Alabama fans when saving one his second national championship. - Right, you said not Abdullah. He's been a long time fan. - He's a lifelong fan. - Like you with Georgia before they ever won. - Yes, but these people that jump on the bandwagon and wanna text me about, "Oh, Georgia's gonna lose. Georgia's losing." And then it's like, "Hey, man, you can't tell me anything before saving was the head coach. You're a fake fan." - Felipe off. You don't know anything about the history of the team. You just jumped on the bandwagon when they started winning. So I had no time for them during Georgia. I mean, that's the worst, by the way. Don't bother me when one of my favorite teams is watching this point. - Thank you. Don't bother me. - Georgia's down 28-0 to Alabama. - Oh my god. - Did I text you? Dogs look good, no? No, 'cause you would have beat that F out of me. - Just leave me alone. - Leave me alone. - Just leave me alone. - Miserable. We had to leave for 12 seconds. Just leave it alone. Just don't bother me. And clues your brother, by the way. - Why, Shay? - It's not your day, kid. Take that. - Thanks, Dr. Brew. Thanks for the obvious. - He loves you. - Right. And Z-Pax, like I wanted him to fire back. Well, that's like kicking a puppy. What am I gonna say? What time do the White Sox play? - It's low-hanging fruit. It's not even fun for me. Just go away. And I brought him back. He was gone for 30 minutes. It was funny. It was good comedic timing from me. - That's exactly right. - Anything else in the fall? There's a number of things, I'm sure. - Oh yeah. Cap, you walked back here earlier. Saw something on my computer screen. Do you want to tell the people what you asked me? Do you recall? - Yeah, why is there a male appendage sculpture on your screen? - I told you I'd let you know in the Friday folder. Naples, Italy, the town square has erected a statue of a, no good way to say it, giant penis. It is not like a sculpture that's supposed to be something else and just looks like that. That's what it is. It's even named, you're a big thing. Now, people in Naples, Italy have said this is disgusting. There's no place for this in our town. The mayor of Naples says, people discussing it, people talking about it, means the work has achieved its goal. It is a piece of art and the goal wasn't for it to be discussed. So I ask you, a sculpture of a giant penis, is it art? - Shout-o-no shot, is that art? - No shot, I've been to Naples, Italy. - Penis that art. - Trust me. - You don't want to visit Naples, Italy. - Italy's cool, Naples was a dump. - Answer his question. - I did already. - No shot, you said Shout-o-no shot, I said no shot. And because. - I don't need a giant penis down in the town square. Like the daily setter has a Picasso. You got the Klaus Oldenburg baseball bat sculpture that's over on like Randolph headed to the Kennedy. I don't need a giant penis in the middle of the daily setter. (laughing) - I love the little fuck square there. - Thank you, Jay Moore, in advance. - That is a no shot, no need for a giant penis. I want to win. I'm gonna read you the first two paragraphs. - Is it good? Is it juicy? Is it something that you would say? - I would have been a little stirner because I would have had a press conference. It said, "Jed's got one year." We're not extending his deal right now. I've got to see more. - That's good. Okay. - Tom, is that is it how Tom does it? I get it, but he was pretty, pretty direct here. - All right. - We'll get to the end of him. This is not where we plan to finish the season. Like our fans, we had high expectations for our team this year, and early victories delivered hope for post-season baseball, but inconsistent play and injuries up ended that promise, leading us into a hole too deep to recover from, despite another second half surge. Bottom line, we did not play a complete season of competitive baseball as a result. We have again missed the most exciting and exhilarating month of the season, October.
