It's October 11th, 2024, and we are primed and ready to go for the best football weekend of the fall to this point. In college and in the NFL, on a football Friday. Daniel, what's up? It's a big one. It's a big one. You got a lot of college foosball, a little appetizer. Appetizers oftentimes are restaurants for the best thing on the menu. It's a transfer. The chef to kind of show off a little bit, some really creative ideas can come forth. It can also just be potato skins. And those are all so great. And then you got trying to fall foosball. You know the marquee match up is on Sunday? You know this one? Have you actually seen this? Washington Baltimore. I've looked into it. That's the one. That's the one that everybody is interested in. Yeah, the appetizer Saturday, this is a fried appetizer. This is one of the good ones here. College matchups all over the place tomorrow. Texas, Oklahoma, one versus 18 Penn State USC, even though USC is not ranked. That's a classic Big Ten match up there. Really excited about that. You got Ohio State, Oregon, two versus three. Ole Miss LSU, nine versus 13 and Kansas State and Colorado is going to be great. 18 Kansas State taken on the Buffalo's trying to pull off an upset. Danny, great day of college rock. Fact, my kids are out and about tomorrow. So I'm actually going to get a couple of hours in the afternoon. Oh, I get to just watch some college football. Hello there. Giddy about that. And then Sunday in the. The commanders and the Ravens. What a weekend ahead of us should let everybody know. We've got caps tickets to give away today at three o'clock when Jeff's rebick of the athletic joins us and Audible at the line here. 52 is Mike, 52 is Mike, tobacco, tobacco, tobacco, 52 is Mike. You get the Audible Danny? Yeah, either. Chuckle me. I tell my head, I tell my head, I tell my head. At let's go 445. How do we feel about 445? Does Ryan know it? Does Ryan know it? Does Ryan know it for caps tickets? They've just been a minute. You know how the game's played? Yep. You basically, you get a line with us. You'll talk to Ryan first. It's weird. And then you'll talk to us. We'll be like, hello, you know how the game is played? And you say yes. We'll ask Ryan a question. Doesn't matter if you know it or not. You're betting on whether he knows it or not. And he knows just enough to keep you guessing. It's a very popular game. Very popular. So we'll play that at fall 45. Do you watch any Thursday night football last night? I got some of the foosball last evening. This is the most, by the way, every season, every week is its own kind of story, right? And there are little chapters within it. I would not peg San Francisco as this kind of team. But here we are. Coming into last night, they were plus 40 as a team, I believe. I think I have these numbers right. They were plus 40 in the first half of games. They're like minus 20 in the second half of games, which explains the record that they have. And you're going, man, what a first half. And then here comes Seattle in the second half. It's played out like the whole season. There have been four losses all year by teams leading by 10 points in the fourth quarter. And two of them have been by San Francisco. And we were headed in that direction when they were up 23 to three at half time, or I should say early third quarter. They scored five minutes into the third on a 10 yard pass from Purdy to Kittle to make it 23 to 3. Then a 97 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Levisca Chanel. We're good on the kickoff being changed, right? Everyone still want to complain about that. Everyone still want to get all up in arms about the new kickoff, because it looks funny. And they're only five yards apart. She had up. It lasted about as long as the complaints for the pitch clock, right? I mean, the pitch clock said, but, but, okay. Yeah, it's better. You know what I mean? Like here we are. Follow along with me, friendships. Follow along with me, pals. Do we want returns? Yes or no? Yes. We're getting them. Do we want the occasional big play on specials? Yes or no? Do we want touchdowns as an option on the table again? Yes or no? Yes. The kickoff change is working. It's good. Now, real ones already knew it would because you watch this thing in the XFL. You did the spring football thing and you already knew this was going to be just fine and dandy. We could tweak it. I got no problem tweaking it. You want to move the football up or back. What's your tweak? You got a tweak? I mean, people want to continue to get more returns. So cool. Let's do that. Back them up some further penalize the touch back. Instead of starting at the 30, Roger Goodell has said, we could put the ball at the 35 and we'll get even more returns. Like the cut of his jib on that one. I love that. Whatever you want to do to get more returns, you do it. But this works. Injuries are going to be down. Collisions are less existent. It adds to some offense and some fun. I'd have to look at the numbers. I don't know if penalties are up or down. But I think when everybody gets the hang of it and it's not new, penalties will be the same or maybe even on par with where they were before maybe down a little bit. Because there's less speed and you're not getting beat as much enough to grab anybody. But I think it's worked. It's been good. I mean, you look at a punt return, for example. And I don't have the exact numbers. I wouldn't know where to even begin to try to find this sort of thing. But it feels like more than half the time, if there's a big punt return, you're sitting there going, "Any flags, any flags, any flags?" Damn, there is one, right? It's almost always got to be a hold or got to be a block in the back. It's got to be something to spring the guy, just the nature of the play. I think the nature of this play doesn't have that same ratio. Because it used to be the same for kick returns. When you line up right there, you got to sprint back, sprint and then double back and deal with the blocker. And everyone's got more momentum. You had to either hold someone, block them in the back, etc. I think it lends itself less to those things. Now, I know the irony here is, of course, at the home opener, Austin Eckler went to the house and away from the play, there was a penalty. But I don't think it's because of the nature of the play. Does that make sense when I'm trying to say that this thing, the same thing? So for punt returns, you still have that thing that hails it. But for kickoff returns, outside of the weird beginning, this is as clean as it's been in some time. If you're out, it's because you hate kick returns. That's my, that's as simple as I can. I just go back to the entire premise was to have more kicks return, and that is happening. So everything else. Mission accomplished, yeah. And I think it is kind of reintroduced the kick return in a lot of ways to the game. Speaking of the game, the game this weekend that you guys care about and that we care about is the commanders in the Ravens, four and one Washington, three and two Baltimore commanders are still heavy underdogs, I would say, little surprised by the line. I will bury the lead, I guess here to tell you right off the top, Danny. I'm sniffing a commander's cover and a Ravens win probably tight. Okay. I think Baltimore does have enough firepower and maybe it's just my lack of full trust in Washington's defense to make the stops that they're going to need to to win the game. But I think this idea that it's going to be seven, eight, 10 points. I'm not seeing that. I think the commanders go up a weight class. I think they quit themselves very well. And I think when this game ends, the Ravens feel really good because they just beat a solid Washington team that is four and one and they're now four and two and where they need to be. And I think commanders fans like you guys, people like Danny and I talking about this team and everyone in that locker room, while they won't feel it right after the game, I think they're going to feel like they're in a really good place because they just took on one of the better teams in the league and handled them very well. I generally roll my eyes and then look for something else to listen to when people start like ripping off gambling trends as part of my sports radio listening experience. When someone's like, for the last 17 games, road teams that are two and a half point dogs, it actually covered 41% of the time. So bet the over, okay, I'm sorry, that's not interesting to me at all. Like talk about the football game. But here is something that I do find interesting as it pertains to this one and the league in general. I don't have the exact number in front of you, but I think I saw it yesterday. It's around 80% or maybe more of teams that are huge underdogs have either covered or won outright over the course of this season. The reason I bring that up is this is not what we're used to where there's a handful of teams that are just, you know, so on with the ring on whooping everybody's ass. They're good teams. There's plenty of teams that are pretty good to good. The ending of Sunday trope, of course, applies. But I don't think there are true separators yet. Even though Kansas City's 5 and 0, Minnesota's 5 and 0, they're good. They have the best resumes. They deserve all the accolades. But it's not like it was maybe a handful of years ago where you go, that's a have and that's a have not. I think a lot of teams have not a ton, but they've got that it's spread out a little bit. Those more teams have not, but maybe that way. Yeah, like it's all a bigger bucket with more teams in it. And also, I also just this line does not make a ton of sense. Now they know what they're doing. The buildings are big for a reason, but it does not feel like these two teams should be seven points apart. But the idea that the line is this big is a clear indictment on Washington. As if to say they expect a regression. That's what this is. They're saying, we don't think you can do it again. So either the commanders go out and prove them wrong or it's a 10 point game. And they do come back to earth a little bit. But that's what this is. I don't think it's this huge endorsement like the Ravens or just some immovable object. It's not like they've been favored by this many points in other games very frequently. It wasn't the case when they played Dallas as an example. So I think this is a still sign that everyone's not completely bought in on the commanders. I did a radio hit in Baltimore today. By the way, here's how you know, if I could say this selfishly, that business is a boom in town. Everyone's like, oh, it's better when they lose for you guys. You want them to lose. It's the most wrong thing in the world, by the way. No idea what you're talking about. I started my day with a hit on Fox five. I have subsequently did an interview with channel nine in DC. I have gone on a fan podcast for 40 minutes in DC. I did a radio hit in Baltimore. I did a national phone call earlier today, like from nine a.m. Until one 30, I was just doing things about this game. And it's not happened since I was on the beat in 2012, when Robert Griffin and Washington were playing Dallas for the division. When they're two and five, we're not asked to do those sorts of things. No, nobody really wants to hear from us. Unless a coach gets fired and then it's back to business as usual, where no one wants to hear again. I say this, though, not to brag about the fact that it's been a fun day for me. Yeah, good humble brag, Graham. Thank you. Let me just pick up all of these assignments that I had today. No, I said this because when I was on the Baltimore interview that I did, one of the things they brought up was, yeah, but the commanders haven't beaten anybody. And I don't remember exactly, but I think the combined record was maybe like six and 14 of the four teams Washington's beaten, which I had not seen anywhere. But they were doing the like, are they that good bit? And the point I would like to make to them or to anyone else's, it's not that the commanders are beating teams. They've dominated teams. If they beat the Cardinals by a field goal and they beat the Browns by a walk off Austin cyber at 41 yards. Yeah, we're doing. Yeah, but sure. Then disrespect them at your own peril and all you'd like to. I wasn't impressed by their win over the Giants. I think you could rightfully say they laid an egg and got destroyed by the Bucks, a pretty good team. They barely beat New York and probably should have could have lost that game. But you can't play that game with the last three, I don't think. Are the Bengals one and four? Yes, but you went to their place before they were one and four when they still had a chance to save their season and get on track. And when borough was healthy with Higgins and Chase and you got a really impressive win. Then you go to Arizona and you bludgeon them. You didn't beat them. You take the half of the fourth quarter off and then the Browns game, you don't even play your starters in the fourth quarter. It was such a laugh or it was so embarrassing. So the whole they have, who have they beaten? This is their record. This is the record of teams that they've won against. It does not work for me. When you're not just winning, you're dominating. It's an important distinction because had they had, they won four in a row. Had they won all four like they beat the Giants, you'd go, this is fun. But come on, we know those are regression. You'd say they're not that good. They're squeaking out wins against bad teams. And when they play a good team, they get destroyed. We've seen that here in town that Alex Smith, the year that he broke his leg. That's what they were doing. They were winning these weird games, these low scoring rock fights. And you go, this is, I'm glad they're winning. That's fun. I'd rather win the lose, but this isn't sustainable. They're not great. And you know something bad is going to happen. You didn't know it was that, by the way. But yeah, this is different. Like when you are playing a team that's trying to save their season on the road, running out of football and the kid plays the best game of his career. One of the best games you're going to see this season. Then you follow that up with all the accolades and all the success and all the finger guns and all the people super excited. How great is all this with an even better performance on the road with that Austin Echler? Then you follow that up with a game because scored 50 against a pretty good Cleveland Browns defense. It's not like they're eking it out, right? When you look at some of these games that other teams are playing that are in their same bucket where, whether you win or lose, it's like, you know, Nippetot, I think it's really good. Just did not deserve to be Jacksonville, who's garbage. And their coach is about to get fired. Like if it's that, you're going, okay, I'm a bit more skeptical. There's a reason for optimism here that's beyond they've won four in a row, right? You can, you can get heads on a coin toss four straight times. It's different though. It feels like the commanders are going to have to stop the run if they're going to win. There's probably a path to the Ravens running the ball really well and still losing because points ultimately do come from the passing game. But if the Ravens are running the ball, they probably have everything they want at their disposal. The formula I've drawn up in talking about this game all day, I do not think the commander's defense can stop the Ravens offense consistently. I don't think they are built to shut down Henry and Jackson. I just don't think it's a fair ask. I know they were pretty good against Arizona and they were very good against Cleveland. But to Sean Watson is now walking through that door and that unserious joke of an offense is not the assignment this weekend. So here is where I'm at on this. I think it's a game where you need to be preaching all week, Joe Witt. You know his ball is life bit. I need you to make me five plays. That's what I need. I need five game changing plays. Ideally, two of them, at least maybe three of them are takeaways. There's going to be, I'll give you 55 that don't go our way. They get a four yard, seven yard, nine yard run, a 14 yard pass. Lamar rips off a 21 yard scramble on third and three. I'm going to give you, if you want 55 bad plays, you can have a defense. I need five really good ones. Because even if they score in the 20s, if I give my offense a short field a couple of times, if I generate a takeaway, if I get a big sack fumble that puts them behind the sticks on a big drive and I make that one of my plays, I've got a chance to win. You know, coaches are always up to their like stick, you know, they're breaking a watermelon or, you know, whoever has the biggest hit holds the bat. You got the hit of the week, right? My stick this week that I came up with, if I'm coach Paulson, is like Thanos's hand, okay? So everybody walks into the meeting room on defense and I've got a little gem on every person's desk. And I want five of those bitches at the end of this game, handed to me. Grant's going five infinity stones. Yes, I like this. I want five of those put into each one of these fingers and you get, you make the play, you get to take away, put a gem on the hand, right? You get a short field from my offense, put a gem on the hand. And if I got five of those, we win the football game. Who's bringing me my stones this week? That is my bit. If I am Joe Witt with this defense, you're going to get yours Baltimore. Lamar, really good at this. Derek Henry, big, bad man. Set from another planet to run people over and stiff arm them into Wednesday. I need five plays, can I make five plays? And that's the whole game for me. Best formula to me, I smell what you're cooking, by the way. Best formula to me is Baltimore has to have to do this. They usually don't, by the way. They're good at what they do. And they end up with 12, 13, 14 wins a year because of it. But if you make them play from behind and make them a dropback passing team, they can beat you that way. But they're not as good beating you that way as they are playing their way. Their way is it's Derek Henry early and often mixed in with some Lamar keepers, mixed in when you get tired of both of those things. Then it's the, you know, tied in in the seam or somebody down in the football field. There's a deep shot or something, that effect. The thing that Washington hasn't done very much of, and I wouldn't either, by the way, is leave their corners on an island. They're terrified, rightfully so, of their cornerback play. What if this is the week you do it? What if this is the week where you say, you know what? Big boy Pantaloons on time, Noah Benogany. Big boy Pantaloons time on Benjamin St. Juice. We're going to walk some folks down into that box. Close to that line of scrimmage. You guys aren't going to have much help. Have at it. We're going to thump a little bit. We're going to try to win a pushing contest early. Then we'll help you later. Do you think they have the Huizba? Do they have the stones? Do they have, you got the stadium to give them a grand finale? You think they got the chance to do that? I don't know that I would. It scares me. But this may be the week you see it. I don't trust my corners enough to play that game. Even this week? No, because I think Zayflowers is a dude. Oh, he's good. I think if you do that Zayflowers goes like 8 for 114. And probably scores a couple majors. Because they're, you know, that's a good bet. Because like, this to me, this defense is not good enough yet. And by the way, two good weeks in a row for them. They've turned into good assignments against Cleveland. I think you and I could have coordinated a pretty good defense, but that's, that's a side. I still don't trust them to be able to stop a bunch of things at once. So this is like, which hole do I want to plug? And if we decide the most important thing to plug is running, stopping the run or stopping, you know, gas runs, keeping everybody in front of us, maybe that's the play? I don't know though. I mean, to me, I think they're just going to be willing to deal with the body blows all game long. So here's my question for you guys. Will the commanders be able to stop the Ravens running game? And we're not talking about holding them for like, you know, 25 attempts for 70 hours or something. Nobody has, by the way, literally nobody. It's the best rushing attack in the national football league right now with Washington. Are the commanders going to be able to shut down the run effectively? Or is that going to cost them the game? That's the question. Let's open up the phones. 800-636-1067. When it dive into some of the numbers on the Ravens run game next, you're listening to GND on the fan. Doors take us to summers away. You've got to be in your gap. You have to be able to defeat blocks, send them where you want them to send them. And in that standpoint, from a tackling standpoint, you talk about it. And this every week, it's not just with Derek. You have a tackling plan for every back that you have. And you try to stick to the plan. And so we have our tackling plan for him just like we had it last week. And that doesn't change. >> That's Joe Whit Jr, the defensive coordinator for the commanders on defending Derek Henry and the Ravens. Welcome back to GND on the fan. Baltimore owns both the NFL's number one rushing offense and rushing defense in the league. Get this, they have rushed for a 211 yards per game. They have allowed 60 rushing yards per game. That is a juicy little discrepancy. The Ravens are plus 754 in rushing differential. This year's second highest ever to the 1984 Bears who had four better yards, plus 758 through five games into a season. And you're going back to the 1970 merger. That's pretty staggering. And that's why I would say Danny on paper, it's a bad matchup for Washington, because it is a team that can stop the run that can force you to throw the football. Except that so far, nobody has stopped the commanders running the football. So it's a power versus power, like good on good. Something's got to give matchup where you think you can stop the run cool. I run it great, let's see. Yeah, my college team, he was our number two as a freshman, named Adam Bolicic had a nasty curveball. Left handed was filthy. Scattering report says, do not throw this guy curveballs. He didn't care about that, because he goes, he hadn't seen my curveball. And most of the time he was right. So like, I wonder if Washington has that same viewpoint where they go. They stopped the Raiders. They stopped, you know, I don't know, pick your middling rush office. Yes, Cincinnati, who's here to throw it, they didn't stop us. They didn't see our looks. The only wrench I'll throw into this is maybe no Brian Robinson, who again today didn't practice and who is listed as a game time decision. Did not play in the second half, although supposedly did not have a setback. I told you though, in the locker room, he was in a bad foul mood. He was annoying. He just looked salty and just didn't want to talk. I thought it was because I didn't play him in the second half and he was healthy. I guess it's possible. It's because he just didn't feel right. This thing is nagging maybe. He's a game time decision. My guess is he plays in that he's just not 100% or, you know, isn't going to be four quarters of Brian Robinson, kind of like we saw last week. But regardless, if he's not there, it is a big loss because you still have a lot of talent with Echler and the way McNichols has run, he's been very good. But that's your battering ram. That is your thumper. They kind of softens things up. Softens everything up you. And he has proven to be really, really important, but they have the number one rushing a tail back in the NFL and Derek Henry, 572 yards, six a pop. They have the number eight rusher in the league and their quarterback Lamar Jackson. So both sides of the ball run game is kind of king for the Ravens. And it's why this matchup's so fun because it's what the commanders have done so well. The question for you guys is Washington going to be able to stop the Ravens running game enough to win this game? Shane's in DC. What's up, Shane? What's going on, commander? What's up, Grant? How are you doing today? Happy Friday. What's up, brother? The answer is hell no. No, no, no. I mean, look, Derek Henry is, like you said, he is a different kind of running back. I mean, he's bigger than most of your defensive ends and linebackers. And he can run. You know, and plus you got the Lamar Jackson. No, I don't think so. But here's the thing, though. They're not seeing our running game like we have with Daniels. He's the same area image of Lamar Jackson. So, you know, what's it say he don't go out there rush for 100 yards? You know, I don't want him to rush for 100 yards. But, you know, I don't think so. I think that this, they knew what they do when they signed Derek Henry. But it's going to be hard to stop. But if they do stop them, the commanders will hour out win this game. You got to stop the run. You stopped the run. You win the game. Yeah. Make Lamar Jackson win from the pocket. That has kind of been the book for a long, long time. And most of the time we've seen this this year, frankly, with Jake Daniels. Good luck keeping him in the pocket. I mean, it's just, it's so easy to say it, Bill Bella. Check on Pat McAfee. Here's how you beat Jaden. You just do that. Okay. Good luck. Nobody's been able to. Right. Maybe the Ravens will be the first. But just sticking with the Washington defense against the Ravens run game. If they cannot stop the run enough to stay in the game, it could get lopsided. Yep. That's the formula, right? I mean, question is, are they going to be able to affect Baltimore's running game enough to win this thing? I don't think the defense can. And this is a, you know, my axiom for baseball kind of applies. Like, I don't get mad when Paul Skeens shoves it on you. He shoves it on everybody, right? This is this Ravens rush offense is excellent. Full stop. That's the, that's the end of the, of the thought. They're excellent. They run it on everybody whenever they want at will. Washington's defense is not better than everybody else they face, including Kansas City, Buffalo, et cetera. They're going to run it on you. The only way to stop the Ravens run game is with Washington's offense having a lead. I think that they can. I just think they're going to have to commit so many resources that it leads to big problems the other way. Like you go bare front with five across your blitz and A gaps and you're mugging up in the middle of the formation and you're getting luvoo and Wagner and these guys coming downhill to help in these run fits. And now all of a sudden their line, their tight ends are eating in the line. They say like a tight and throwback play. You could already see there's just so much stuff that you open up. So it's almost like do you want to take your chances with them just running the ball normally and make them matriculate and hope they get a holding penalty or fumble or would you rather give them like almost always my philosophy is give a team the run game. Take away the explosives in the passing game. And in this game, I just think the Ravens want you to basically give them the run game. So I'm going to try to take that away and say if Lamar throws it 40 times, I'm going to bet on some inaccuracy. I'm going to bet he misses some guys. I'm going to bet that a ball bounces off one of their mediocre receipt, shock Bateman's hands and end up my waiting DB's hands. I'd rather that than just Henry plowing forward. Let's go to Ray and Baltimore on Grant and Danny. What's up, buddy? Hey, what's going on, man? I love y'all. I love y'all show, man. You know what I mean? And I'm going to say this real quick because obviously you can hear about my accent. I am a Baltimorean. But what I will say is, I think y'all sleeping on Patrick Rickard. I mean, I've been listening to every show all week. Patrick Rickard name hasn't been mentioned. Justice Hill name has barely been mentioned. Ronnie Stanley is having a renaissance yet. Nobody mentioned Tyler Lindenbaum. I don't think that the commanders is going to be able to stop the run. Because just the way Patrick Rickard has been playing at an elite level when he comes to fall back. But I was going to say he's a blocker though. I mean, he's not like he's going to run the ball all that much. No, it's not fourth and one, he might. His last carry was 2022, my guy. Yeah, yeah, he's not going to run the ball, obviously. But we're just talking about just pure blocking schemes. It's not going to happen. And on the other side, because everybody's been talking about the latest game. And when am I playing by saying this? Everybody talk about the Raiders game, but context, because y'all write down the role, but y'all have an impact context for your families. The Raiders gave up a 10-point lead in a fourth quarter. Zack Orr really just didn't, was really just shot and to get his feet wet a little bit. And Lamar had a turnover. And on top of that, we already beat a better quarterback. That's Malcolm and Josh Allen. So at the end of the day, this is why the fan base in Baltimore, just like when you was on that podcast, we were looking at y'all laughing and talking all these predictions is because we've seen this before. Well, maybe let's say you buddy. Let's see what happens on Sunday. I know this. You lost to the Raiders, bro. Remember that? We had a 10-point lead. What's that getcha? Gardener Minshew moved the ball on Baltimore the entire fourth quarter and they beat the Ravens. They were two and two and they should be two and three right now. If not for a bad hold on a misfield going overtime. So let's not pretend like you're, you know, Goliath and Washington's David. Washington might be David, but who's half of Goliath? That's what you are. You should be two and three right now. You've been fine. Put your chest back in a little bit. That's what I would say to the Ravens. Yeah. I mean, this to me again is not about this year's Ravens as much as it is, the track record of this organization over the last handful of years, where they deserve a lot of benefit of the doubt. I'm just saying that this year, they're very okay so far. And that, that to me is indisputable. The results have been mixed to this point. Now, I think there's a lot of people, maybe like me, maybe a bit more bullish than you, which I think is reasonable and fine that say they'll eventually catch their stride and they'll be one of the teams that's around in December and January and they'll be relevant and really, really good. And that's based on past track record. Not this year so far. There's no way you could tell me that the homework they've turned in this year is this juggernaut that can't be stopped. This is not a couple of years ago where they were the one seed with, you know, 14 wins. They're 31st against the pass and a 32 team league. Yeah. They're 26th at the points they've given up. They're 25th in red zone defense. They just had to hire Dean Pease to help out their 32 year old defensive coordinator. Like, let's not pretend like they're 5 and 0 and they're the favorite to get to the Super Bowl right now. I'm not crowning Washington, but you shouldn't crown Baltimore either necessarily. But if you want me to shout out Patrick Picard, I got nothing but love for him. It's one of the best blocking fullbacks in the league. He looks like me if I was six foot. He's just a big fat full back who just he hunts man. Literally just wants to go helmet to helmet in the hole with a line. It doesn't seem like a lot of fun to play defense against that guy. No, I guarantee that guy weighs 315. You know what I mean? Like he is just a big you'll know you may not know what he looks like. You'll see it. Just look for the fat guy who's the lead blocker who's beating people up. Is that lineman lost? Why is he lining up there? Let's go to Trey, a tribe in Calvert on GND. What's up, Trev? Hey, what's up, GND? I'm I'm so glad I got the answer after radio. I've been hearing nothing but Baltimore fans talk smack all day. Well, see, I got a little irritable there. Don't call a DC radio show on Friday and try to sun. Don't pat me on the top of the head and try to sun me. Wait till Monday when you guys win and then call me. But today you two and you are looking up at me in the standings. You are lucky lucky to be three and two right now. Lucky. Go ahead, Grant. Don't sun me on a Friday. Bunch of jags that lost to the Raiders. Your quarterback turns the ball over all the time. When he improves a little bit, he'll be Jaden Daniels. Call me then. Anyway. Exactly. All right. So I was telling Ryan, I already think that we're going to hold them to like like one. I said 115, but then when I heard the stats you gave out, I'll say like 150. We'll hold them to. I think that'll be enough because we already beat the bangles. They barely beat the bangles. They only beat them because they've mopped the fricking still go kit. So I think we're going to put at least 10 on them. We're going to shut that down. Appreciate you buddy. Thanks buddy. See, if a commander's fan called up and said the exact same thing he just said, I'd be like, no, yeah, you're right. I totally. But I'm a Ravens fan. You guys, you're making me laugh. Go beat the Raiders and come back to me. Losers. Go give up another 10.4th quarter lead. Go let Danny crayon you in the off season again and then come out and play like butt for a month. I'm so tired of Ravens fans all week telling me what we are and what they are. It's annoying to me, but it's not a rivalry in any way. It's not on the field. No, it is not on the field. Baltimore, Washington don't like each other very much. Is it a geographical rivalry? Sure. I'm just not going to be sung by a Ravens fan. The epitome of mediocrity through five weeks. My team good. That's what good looks like. Now, what's going to happen this weekend? I'm picking you to win. So call me on Monday after you do and rub my face in it. But right now you don't get to talk trash to me. You're below me in the standings and you lost a gardener meant you loser. Grant and Danny on the fan. Texas, Oklahoma, Penn State, USC, Ohio State, Oregon, Ole Miss, LSU, Kansas State, Colorado, tomorrow, NFL games headlined as always, as is always the case. Per the norm by your Washington commanders and the Baltimore Ravens. Danny, we're talking about that vaunted Ravens running game. Nobody's been able to stop it. It does not seem like the commanders are built to do so. No, and to me again, this is my theme throughout, the way to stop it is to have a lead. It's to make the... I was calling the Raiders. Make the Ravens do something they don't normally do. When they play with their plan, they win 12, 13, 14 games a year. You get them out of their plan, you got a better shot. They didn't guarantee you a win, but it's your best chance. So you get a lead somehow, whether it's turnover early, whether your offense is home in early, whatever. You get them out of their game plans straight up, drop back. I'll take my chances then, but trying to play the run? No, nobody stopped it. They are worse than the defenses the Ravens have already played. In a couple instances, nobody has stopped this running game. Baltimore is the better team, in my opinion. Lamar is a two-time MVP. Derek Henry is the perfect fit. You and I and everybody else, I think, probably with an opinion in this medium, thought that that was such a perfect place. Feels like he's always been a Raven. He's always been there. What a nightmare that is now to defend and read option when Lamar is in the goner and pistol with Derek Henry behind or next to him. It's going to be a problem. I think it's about generating a couple of takeaways, and frankly, this offense just has to put up points. Like the Bengals did last week, let's we forget, Cincinnati did whatever they wanted when they had the football against Baltimore. Joe Burrow had a field day, one of the top days of his career, through for about 400 yards and five touchdowns. Got intercepted once and was one too many mistakes. They have a field goal attempt where the holder can't get the hold down. Otherwise, they win the football game. You cannot have those types of mistakes. I'm not saying you got to be perfect, but you're going to have to score 30 or so in this game, and then you're going to have to generate a few takeaways. That's the formula. Yeah. It's not easy. By the way, you probably are going to do that like 15, 18, 20 percent of the time. That's probably about what we should expect is the chance that they win this thing. But if you do, boy oh boy is going to be fun around here. Come Monday. Let's go to Reese in St. Mary's on Grant and Danny. What's going on? Hey man. I think that we're not going to stop the run, but I think what's going to happen is that we're going to stop them when they try to go for it on a 4th and 3 and things like that. We're going to beat them with the past game. We're not going to set their ram out here into the wall because they got a good run defense. We're going to outscore them, but they're going to lose because they're going to go for it on 4th and 3, 4th and 5. We're going to get a couple of chip balls from Lamar Jackson. Isn't it? You know, chipping the balls. We're going to, we're going to play a solid defensive game, but we're not going to stop the run. We're going to beat them with offense and them going for it. And disrespecting us on 4th and 3, 4th and 5 and things of that nature. They are the original commanders on 4th down where they have the cheat code in Jackson. Now we have the cheat code in Daniels and they never went for a 4th down they didn't get for a couple of years. It felt like right now Washington's eight for eight on 4th down, by the way. But I would take a solid defensive performance in a heartbeat. Ken's in Leesburg. What's up, Ken? Hey, big time fan. Well, time listener. First time, Paula, guys. Oh, well. Hit it. Hit it. All right. Hit it. Jim's on it. He's ready. Yeah, um, I honestly, I don't think we can stop Derek Henry. Like you said earlier, Grant, we'd have to stack the box. And then you got flowers and Andrews and likely, and I just see a hard time stopping your offense. And guess what, Ken? Even that doesn't always work. He's run against stacked boxes, eight men or more in the box. Exactly. 28% of the time this season, 7th most, and he's still leading the league in rushing yards. Exactly. Exactly. That's what I'm saying. The only, only hope I think we have is scoring more points than them. And honestly, we haven't faced other than the box. We haven't faced the defense like the Ravens. I don't think they shut down Buffalo. They made Buffalo look elementary. I mean, they, yeah, they, I honestly, this will be the test for Daniels. Appreciate you, dude. Thank you. Yeah. I mean, the formula, how good the Ravens defense is, I think, is still up for question. They played great in that Buffalo game, certainly, right? As they got a lead. They have had a really good game. Yeah. But there have been some moments where you go, what are you guys doing? And again, they brought in a consultant who was there for a long time as the events coordinator, not because things are going great. I just wanted to show Dean Peace how awesome they are. Like, I know you didn't believe us, but come see how cool everything is. Is it everything perfect? How good are Jobs Akors doing? Let's go to Gene and Batamore, home of Dem Raventon. What's up, Gene? Hi. How are y'all fellow doing today? I listen all the time from Baltimore multiple times. I just want to say, I love you guys, but great. You did wrong today. Uh oh. You did wrong because if you didn't watch the Cincinnati game last week, the Marjak are three for 300, some yards, four touchdowns, hit like eight different receivers. He played the Bengals, bro. You would have thrown for 2.79 and two. Before the season is over, the Bengals will be in the playoffs. Okay, we watched Washington play them a month ago. Jayden Daniels is still throwing the ball to Terry McClure. Okay, this week, I'll guarantee you Baltimore put up 40 points. That's all I'm going to say. Okay, I mean, they might because the commander's defense sucks. I don't know what that has to do with Lamar Jackson though. Let me tell you something about Lamar Jackson. Okay, right now, his completion percentage over expected is minus 4.1. If he improves a little bit, he'll be even with the Sean Watson. Okay. If he improves a little bit, he'll be even with Caleb Williams. He's identical to Andy Dalton. And he's right there with Trevor Lawrence down at the bottom of the NFL. Out of his hand, 65% of his passes should be complete. Excuse me, 69% of his passes should be complete and 65% have been minus 4.1. Jayden Daniels number one in the NFL plus 6% Joe Flacco. You know, plus 5.5% is he like Purdy Derek Carr jail and hurts. That's the top of the league. Curco chains, Joe Burrow. You got to scroll way down toward the bottom of fine Lamar Jackson. I don't want to hear about how he's throwing the ball right now. Now, he has the benefit of getting to play Washington secondary this week. So things will trend up a little bit, but relax. Here's a list of all of his signature playoff performances. You can miss me with all of your, your, all the things you're going to do this weekend. He just can. I'm sorry. I think this is Danny talking now for a second. I think he's going to win the MVP again this year. He's ninth in passing. He's a dual threat. We love that. Well, he can't get enough. He runs all over the place. It's awesome to watch. He's really good. But this guy's talking about him as a passer. That's what he was talking about. Minus 4.1% of expected completion percentage this year. So it might win the MVP award again. He can make plays. He's an incredible player, one of the best in the league. And he deserves both of his MVP awards, by the way. He also deservedly doesn't have any hardware in the postseason, because teams have kept him in the pocket and hadn't worked out that well. Grant and Danny on the fan. Let's talk to Jeff Zarebik next of the athletic. He covers the Ravens will scout the opponent on GND. What is your favorite player in the game? All right, we've had Ravens fans condescending to us all hour. -Sure, Penis. -So let's find out about this Super Bowl bound juggernaut up in Baltimore that probably hasn't lost this year the way their fan base has been talking. Jeff Saribic of The Athletic joins us to break down the Ravens. Jeff, it is good to talk to you, brother. It's been a while. How are you? -Good, but you guys from DC aren't calling people from Baltimore condescending. There's no way that's possible, is it? -Well, I normally take your back on this constantly on this argument because Danny's like, "Oh, they hate us in Baltimore." I'm like, "Yeah, there's some condescension that goes their way from time to time. There's some little brother-sonning." But all I'm doing sitting here, and I got Ravens fans calling me to tell me how much better Baltimore is than Washington and why Washington is a fraud. I find that all very interesting is all. That's all. -Yeah, no, I got you. I got you. I mean, both of them are playing well. There's no question about it. But this is a flawed team in a lot of ways. I mean, the past defense has been terrible. As good as they've been in offense, and I know they're first in DVOA and all that, there seems to be patches in every game where they sort of have a lull for two or three possessions. So there's still, this team still has a lot to prove going forward. And I think just being around here in the building all week, they know the test that's going to come Sunday with the commanders in town. -Jev, one of those things where it's either going to be a footnote and forgotten, or it's going to be the turning point. I don't, maybe there's an in-between, I'm sure, but in this day of declarative gavel slamming statements, who knows? But Zach Orr, I would say, maybe you could say, struggled as a first-year defensive coordinator. I'd probably point to a lot of the players and turn over maybe some injuries. But what is bringing in Dean Pease as a second set of eyes? How do you expect that to manifest itself, maybe this week or going forward? Is it going to be somewhere where you look back and go, "Man, that change really changed their season." Or is it just an afterthought? -Yeah, you know, that's a good question. And I think there was like some talk. You know, I got it on my Twitter or X timeline, but oh, they felt like they had to do this before facing Jane Daniels. This is something that was in the works for a while. They were trying to, you know, Zach Orr had contacted Dean Pease in the off-season about potentially coming here and helping out. You know, so we'll see how it works out. But here's the thing. I think everybody around this team expected there to be struggles defensively early. That's just kind of how it works. I mean, you know, Michael McDonald's was all the, you know, praise he got last year. His first half of season with the Ravens, it's Chris Corrion. They were trying to run him out of town too. I mean, it takes a while. And yes, the Ravens lost some defensive personnel in the off-season. Patrick Queens, you know, Stone, Judevia, Clowney, Ronald Darby. But the biggest loss of all was defensive coaches. It's just, you know, not just Mike McDonald, you know, Donard Wilson, who is probably the best secondary coach in the league, is now leading that Titan defense. And, you know, voila, the Titans have the number one past defense in football. That guy is really good at what he does. They miss him too on the back end. Anthony Weaver, now the Miami defense quarter. They miss him too. So there's a major brain drain from the Ravens defensive coaching staff this off-season. Zach Orr has had some, you know, there has been a learning curve. There has been some problems. But it's not been a disastrous as some people make out. I mean, they completely shut down Josh Allen and the Bills. And then for two or three other games, they played three really great quarters. And then they really just wilted in the fourth. So consistency has been an issue of veterans that shouldn't be mistaken. And making mistakes that they're making is being it been an issue. And I just think Dean Pease and Generals, the veteran guy, can kind of settle things down a little bit. Will be a resource for Zach Orr. And, you know, we don't know how it's going to work out. You know, if this, if they all of a sudden start playing a lot better, people probably will point to that and say you see what they did there. But I think in general, this defense was going to get better as the season went on anyway, just because you have a lot of young coaches who are still learning and should be getting better as the season goes on. What's the Ravens health like going into the game? It's not a problem, Graham. I mean, there's, you know, around these parts, there seems to be such hand ringing every year about injuries. But that can't be excused for some of the inconsistencies this year. They've been pretty much healthy all year. They won't have Broderick Washington, one of their rotational defensive linemen. They won't have Malik Harrison, who started a little bit at outside linebacker, but it's more one of these, you know, early down guys who sets the edge and, you know, chips tight ends and stuff. He, he probably won't play, but, you know, you're talking guys who don't play a ton of snaps, don't play front line snaps. I expect the three starters who have been limited a little bit in practice, Marcus, excuse me, Marlon Humphrey, Ronnie Stanley, Rasha Bateman, barring a setback late in the week. I expect them all to go Sunday. Jefferson Raven covers the Ravens. That's why we're talking to them, breaking down the opponent here on G and D. The pass rush, I think at times has been really, really good, though, just sort of a couple of suspects. Is this sort of a unit that is about to break out in general, or we're just relying on a couple of guys up there at the top who have, I think nine of the teams, or nine and a half of the team sack totals. Yeah, I, one of the, one of the things that was so good about Mike McDonald is how they schemed pressure, you know, some of their pressure packages and, you know, simulated blitzes and they just were very creative what they, what they did last year when they led the league in sacks, Jadaevian Clowney also had a monster year last year. I guess he had nine and a half sacks, but he was even more impactful than, you know, the statistics show. So I think they're missing him a little bit, but I also think in terms of, you know, they're still trying to scheme free runners at the quarterback and, and, and, and create some pressure without blitzing. That's something that has to be worked on this. You know, Kyle Van Neuwe has gotten every bit out of his, you know, his ability. He's a solid pass rusher. He's a smart veteran guy. He'll be a factor, but he's not kind of a guy that, you know, teams are, you know, feel like they worry about wrecking the game per se. And, and the other Ravens pass. Trustors are just young guys, you know, former first round pick a daffee. Oh, wait, former second round pick David, a job bow. Maybe they'll activate Janik and got away for this game or elevate it from the practice club. But yeah, it's just not been consistent. They have been pretty good in the interior. Matabique and Travis Jones can be problematic with getting penetration. But, you know, when we talk about the past defense and how the rank 31st, it's always, well, the secondary's getting beat and letting balls, too many footballs get thrown over their heads. And that's a part of it, but also has been a part is just not a consistent enough pass rush. And, you know, getting to the quarterback and impacting the quarterback, but they are capable, but they're just not one of these teams that you fear that aspect as much as some others. Jeff, am I wrong in assuming that the Ravens no longer need this game? It's, it's more of a want this game after three straight wins. And the schedule ahead is Tampa, Cleveland, Denver, it lightens up a little bit. Yeah, I think that's a fair statement. I mean, you'll get, you know, you get the normal coach speak and, you know, about needing every game and not wanting to lose that home, but they've stabilized, right? I mean, they're out of the 0-2 hole. That doesn't mean they can't go back in it, but they've won three in a row. They found themselves offensively. They have a good thing going with an offensive identity. Their defense obviously needs to catch up, but they're in a much better spot. I don't, you know, I was writing, which is unheard of in Baltimore here. I was writing about must win games in like week three, which, you know, is not usually where they're at, but they have dug themselves out of it. And now it's just kind of, you know, the Steelers have come back to the back, back to the pack in the AFC North. The other two Ohio teams are struggling. So they're in a good spot right now where, you know, the must win labels are no longer on a few of these games coming up. Why hasn't Mark Andrews gotten going? I think it's, I think it's multi one. They're in big packages a lot, and which I think is the most kind of interesting part of this game Sunday from X is an O stand point. You know, Washington's in nickel more than any team in the NFL. And the last time the Ravens played a heavy nickel team was the bills a couple of weeks ago, and it was just a tough matchup for the bills. The Ravens racked up like 275 rushing yards. And, you know, that's going to be, I think, a key. But the Ravens put a full back on the field, they're two big tight ends who are better at blocking the Mark Andrews. And they're not afraid just to run the ball down your throat if you let them. I think that's part of it too. I think, you know, Mark Andrews had the major leg injury that he came back from last year. You know, so he had, he had some rust to work out. He made like the return to the front for the playoff game last year, but he wasn't right. So I think there was a little, and then he got in a major car accident around the facility, which was very serious, which is quite frankly, he escaped without a major injury. But it was a setback, right? He missed some time during training camp and all that. And then the third thing is, look, you know, we hear from Ravens fans all the time asking, like, what happened to Mark Andrews? Well, meanwhile, for years now, they've been complaining we rely too much on Mark Andrews. So I think there's a part of it this year where they're spreading the ball around more, they're getting their tight ends involved for shot Bateman's got a bigger role. They flowers as their number one receiver. They're getting their backs more involved in the passing game. And there's only one football, and I just think Lamar Jackson's at a stage of his career, where he can afford to depend less on Mark Andrews. And that's sort of what we're seeing. Jeff's really big on Grant and Danny. Here on the fan, Lamar Jackson is off to another MVP type start. Nine touchdowns, one interception, obviously what he does with his feet. What have you seen from him this year and what is kind of left for him to prove other than, I guess, them just making deeper playoff runs? Yeah, I think you're exactly right there. They were as a team, and I'm not saying, you know, you're granted the playoffs. I mean, it obviously takes a lot to get there. But they were in the position this year and they are in the position where there's going to be skepticism about the Ravens regardless until they're able to make us run to the Super Bowl. I mean, that's just how it is. That's sort of the case with Lamar Jackson. I mean, he's done everything you can possibly do in the regular season and won multiple MVP awards and the team's win loss record with him. The star is phenomenal. So the proving ground is going to come in January for Lamar Jackson, the Ravens, assuming they make it. And I know that's an assumption you just can't necessarily make. But as of now, he's playing the best football of his career. He's in complete control. They've asked him to do more at the line of scrimmage in terms of getting them out of bad plays. He has more power in terms of the whole play-calling process. He's more involved than he's ever been. And, you know, he's got the big guy behind him to hand the ball off to. He's never had that. You know, they've had some good backs and they've always been able to run the football, but they've never had Derek Henry. So I think when you when you couple all those things, it's been a really good start for him. He's not making too many mistakes. He's taking care of the football. He's just playing at a really high level now. As high as we've seen him play, even in, you know, the years he won the MVP. Easy answer here, Jeff, but I'd love for you to go into it. The Ravens record with Lamar Jackson against the NFC is astounding. I've seen different numbers, whether it's 21 in 3 or 22 in 1 or something like that. The point is it's a lot and then not a lot in the second column. Easy answer is they're good all the time when he plays. They won a lot of their games. But why is it that dominant against the NFC? Yeah, I mean, the one number I got got 21 in 1. And the one loss is to, you know, a Ravens longtime defensive coordinator, Wink Martindale, and they lost the Giants a couple of years back. And obviously Wink know all about Lamar, how he played a practice against him. So even that kind of has an asterisk because they knew him well going into that week. It's just so hard to simulate how he plays. And it's not just his athleticism, you know, and his, you know, how elusive he is. And some of the ball handling stuff he does and taking the ball out of the running back's hands and keeping it and just some of the stuff they do at the mesh point, which teams just don't see it. It's just the uniqueness of the offense as a whole. They just do things that other teams don't do. And I just think they're very tough to prepare for. And the teams that have been best at held Lamar Jackson down best, the Steelers come to mind are teams that see him regularly and know what it is to play against their offense. They just do things differently and they do it at a very, with a lot of speed, so it's just very hard to prepare for. I mean, you have teams using wide receivers in practice to simulate him and doing other things. It's just tough. So I don't think that the teams that don't see it regularly, I think it kind of takes a while for them to settle in and realize what they're facing and get used to kind of the pace they do and what the Ravens are doing. And oftentimes the Ravens have had two and three touchdown leads by the time defense sort of get a hang of it. And that's that probably is the best explanation for why they have that record against the NFC that they have. Jeff will let you out on a prediction of sorts. I don't know if you need to give us a score, but if you got one, we'll take it. How do you think the game plays out? I'm a process of doing that. So I'm pretty far along. I think I think I picked 2620 Ravens. You know, the Ravens play everybody close. Like you just learn it doesn't really matter. So I go into pretty much every Ravens game thinking it's going to be a one score game. But, you know, I've been, I've been amazed what I've seen by the Washington offense and just the poise and, you know, the maturity that Daniels plays with. I think this is going to be a really tough challenge for the Ravens. But I think it could be a mismatch Ravens offense versus the Washington defense, just because Washington's a nickel so much. And the Ravens have the ability to get big and just keep pounding with the run game. And then that opens up things to play action. So that's why I give them the edge, but it's a slight edge. I think it's going to be, you know, this game for all the talk, we haven't seen really the only memorable stuff that's really happened in the regular season matchups is the RG3 unfortunate injury. So I think this has the ability to be kind of the most memorable game. These two teams have played. I think it's going to be a good one. Jeff, great info, man. Really appreciate it. Have a great weekend. You too, guys. Great talking to you. You too, brother. There's Jeff's Arabic. Check him out in the athletic covers the Ravens in Baltimore. He's got a similar field to what I have in that six, seven point Ravens win. Both teams in the twenties over under is set for right around 50. And I never take the over when the number starts in the 50 in the NFL. But it does feel like this is going to be a game where both teams move the ball. Yeah, I think the ball move without question. I also wonder if there'll be so much effective running that it may limit the score instead of like, you know, I think Miami Dolphins, when everybody's healthy, two plays touchdown, we'll go back the other way. Three plays touchdowns like a fast break offense or like 1980s hockey. This feels like everyone's going to run the ball well, and you would think. And that leads to longer drives, maybe a little bit. Though everyone's going to move the ball and score a lot of conversions. I don't know how many touchdowns will be. So I've got an under there as well, but I think offenses will be effective. "We will win off the field at 345 coming up in a little over 15 minutes on Grant and Danny, and we will get you blitzed at four o'clock with the teams in town you care the most about Grant and Danny. Here on the fan is we welcome you back. What are people going to be saying if Washington beats Baltimore? Let's start right there. We come in here on Monday on a victory Monday. Doesn't really matter how it plays out. Commanders beat the Ravens. What is the narrative going to be? This is a contender. I don't just mean, hey, wouldn't it be nice if Philadelphia doesn't get right? And you can win the division. You can go to the postseason and have a schedule. This means contender, like, raise the ceiling. Some people are there already and I think that's awesome. You're excited about it. It's cool. To me, nothing is unreasonable anymore. There's no okay Homer, okay guy that drinks the Kool-Aid every time around a very good tired or whatever. No, no, no. This is a real thing. I think as of Monday, if they win to your point, nothing's off the table and anything you want to say plays. You'll be five and one through six. Your head coach will be one of the leaders in the coach of the year race. Your quarterback will be one of the leaders in the MVP race, not the rookie of the year race, which he will for the moment have just, they might even take the damn award off the board if he, if he balls out in a win this week. I mean, he'll have five rookie of the week honors through six weeks. Maybe it eventually goes back on the board if something changes, but for the short term, they might even just take the thing off the board all together. Cliff Kingsbury, assistant coach of the year, you know, Adam Peters, executive of the year, like they're all in the running. Just a bunch of hardware. It's like one of those movies where everyone wins the Oscar and the Oscar for editing goes to and the Oscar for sound goes to and the Oscar for costume goes to and the Oscar for acting goes to and the Oscar for best picture, like just a clean sweep. Just a sweep. That's where we are. If they lose, what are we going to be saying? The only I've got to, if it's a blowout, if it's a non-starter, if Baltimore dominates. Give me two different game styles. Yeah. First one is Washington plays its worst game of the year. It's over in the late third quarter. It feels like and they lose like 30 to 13. Fun while it lasted, right? Cool. We had a great time. You can't take those four weeks away, where I was prom king and all my clothes fit and I look good in pictures. You know, but maybe, maybe let's all slow our role a little bit. They leveled up and they played someone really, really good and they got the tarbee out of them, right? Okay. That's that's that one. If the other scenario that they lose, but it's back and forth and it takes up, you know, fourth and goal. This time, Isaiah likely stow is in bounds, right? And they win the game talking about Baltimore. Then you go, we can play with anybody. The our philosophy and on our belief and who we are, our evaluation, based on what we've seen in the last with this will now be five weeks. Team's still for real. Team's still really good. Jake Daniels is still really good. They've got something here. You dropped one. Nobody was going on. They were going 16 and one. That was a pretty good game and we'll see those guys again. I think if they lose the game close, we'll echo some thoughts here. It's still to me, I don't do like moral victory Monday or whatever, but it's still a step in the correct direction. It's not a step backwards. I still feel better about them making the playoffs. Better about them winning the division. Better about this being something you can put in cement here and right in Sharpie that they're actually good. They're going to be around all season long. If they lose ugly, if they get blown out, I don't think I'm going to even feel like it was fun while it lasted. I'm just going to say, I'm going to say one part, they had their bad game, like they had the Tampa game or whatever, you're allowed to have those. And one part, Baltimore is a terrible matchup. They'd have to really lay an egg against like Carolina for me to say, fun while it lasted. Losing to a Ravens team that I don't think is a good match up on paper for Washington, I think that if you play them 10 times, they beat you 7, something like that. There's really no path to me feeling like it's revealing that they're not that good. I think styles make fights in a sense and I don't love this fight for them. Yeah, I don't either. So that's kind of where I'd be on that. Let's spin around the NFL. Let's look at some of the other big games of the weekend. Spend it a lot of time as you'd imagine on Washington and Baltimore, both because it's local and it's the best game of the weekend. Some of the other notables, Caleb Williams played a lot better last week. He'll try to make it two in a row for the Bears, Danny. They're trying to get the four and two, it's Soldier Field. When they play the Jacksonville Jaguars, they fended off the dogs this past week, finally with a win over the Indianapolis Colts to get to one in four. But there's still some barking outside the front door for Doug Peterson. Yeah, everybody's over 500 than NFC North. So it's better than, I don't say better than we thought. We thought it'd be a pretty competitive division. And I guess it's playing out that way. The surprise is that Minnesota is at five and oh, and you touched on it. Jacksonville is trying to have a season. It's trying to keep it on the rails so that you can stay relevant. It's used to now has a two and a half or three game league, depending on who you're talking about over everyone else in that stupid AFC South. But yeah, the Wolves are at the door. Let's go to Green Bay. Limbo field best place to watch a game in the National Football League. Packers at home hosting the Cardinals. I just don't like Arizona as much coming cross country toward the East coast. Has not been kind to them in the one o'clock window over the last couple of seasons. Green Bay three and two chance to get the four and two. If that's what happens, they'll have won four of their last five with the loan loss being that two pointer to the Vikings when they actually fell behind 28 seven and then came all the way back in that game. We'll be back to back wins with Jordan Love going into the Texans and Jaguars over the next couple of weeks. Feels like a pretty big game for Green Bay to try to keep up with Minnesota in the Vikings do have a buy this week so the Packers could pull the within a half game or so with the Vikings. A very winnable game for Green Bay at home. Surprised there wasn't more love after Arizona did what they did this past week to San Francisco. That was one of the more impressive wins. I would say at the week, they're five and a half point dogs going on the road. But I think it speaks to your point that, you know, I don't think the odds makers love them going back across country playing at 1 p.m. against a Green Bay team that's very sound. We haven't seen the full Holy crap, Jordan Love MVP candidate thing that a lot of us thought was coming. Now I know he's been derailed by that injury there in week one and it hasn't really clicked just yet. There was some drops this past week from his receivers. But Green Bay is just very solid all around very well coached stream. I expect them to get a W this weekend Texans Patriots in New England. Happy Drake May die to Patriots fans. He is making his first NFL start in Foxboro four and one Houston against one in four New England. The Patriots were worried about Drake May behind their offensive line, which has given up the worst pressure percentage in the league. So they waited until they played the team that gets the most pressure in the NFL Houston to debut him. Nothing they've done makes a whole lot of sense. But at some point, the kids got to play football. Houston, by the way, is four and one and they're good. This is not me criticizing Houston. They haven't played that great yet. It feels like, right? CJ Stroud is a baller and that's kind of my point here is you know they're going to get going. And what does that look like? I mean, they're already four and one again with a couple impressive wins in there. One terrible loss at Minnesota, but they sort of eked by Chicago, eked by Jacksonville, played a competitive game against Buffalo wherever either team could have won. So this is a chance for them to kind of start to flex a little bit and get right. Now this stuff like this always happens, right? Where on paper, it looks like they're going to go dominate because as you said, it should be a feeding frenzy. And for some reason, maybe it's not and we're trying to love to pick up the pieces. But on paper, it's a game Houston should go in and dominate Drake. May is not the only rookie quarterback making his first start this weekend. In New Orleans at the Superdome, the boxer pan, the Saints of visit and Spencer Rattler will be filling in for Derek Carr is going to miss not one but two games because they play again on Thursday night against the Chargers. So he will miss both of those games means at least two starts for Rattler. The Bucks with a really good chance to get to four and two and keep up with Atlanta in the NFC South. So this is what I thought no one was going to be not without Derek Carr. I've said no idea to be hurt. But before the season, I said, I think that is how it gets fired. They're not real good to me. I don't get what their plan is. I don't know what they're doing. Well, then they scored 45 and a half a game through two weeks and idiots like me were forced to eat their words. Now they've sunk back down. It's kind of a, you know, they're sliding down the mountain a little bit, looking for a handhold, tough, tough matchup for them with the Tampa Bay team that's pretty decent. Three straight losses. They've scored 12 24 and 13. So twice sub 15 during a three game losing straight to the Eagles, Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs now speaking of the Saints. Let's keep it moving Sunday match ups in the NFL on Grant and Danny. The Browns are one and four. We just saw them here in Landover. They are a disaster and that offense is gross. They get the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Browns are one and four. Philly is two and two. Feels like a nice little get right opportunity for the Eagles. They're off of a by taking on to Sean Watson. Remember, Philly was very interested into Sean Watson. If you go back in time, they wanted him badly. They dodged a real bullet there. It's been an inconsistent season for the Eagles. When loss, win loss by they come out of the by. I think they win big. I do too. Nine and a half points spread in that one at Philadelphia. Also, AJ Brown's back. I think Devonta Smith is back. It's gonna say I hadn't seen the Ninja report just yet. Finally for Friday practice yesterday. So there you go. I so I would expect Philadelphia. Maybe as a chancellor, looking at their schedule, they survived. They didn't perform particularly well by their standard, but they've got a pretty easy schedule coming up. It starts this week against Cleveland. We could look up in a few weeks and they could be seven and four or eight and three, something like that. So this is where I think it begins. AFC South matchup Colts Titans, Anthony Richardson is getting healthier. There's some thought that he could be back very soon for the Colts. They're in a weird situation because I think you got to play Richardson ASAP and for the duration of the year and you're trying to figure out what he is. But I also don't think there's any debate that they're better offensively with Joe Flacko on the field right now because Richardson's been a bit of a mess. He's inaccurate. He just misses too many throws, but he's also got all the talent in the world and they drafted him in the top five. It's kind of a strange situation. They're two and three. They're playing the one in three Titans who look like they're ticketed for the top of the draft board. Yeah, Titans have not been frisky like I predicted they would be for the Colts. You mentioned it's an interesting spot. I still think their team talent wise is pretty good, but you drafted a project and would you be surprised that a project showed up? Now, what's derailed this thing is Richardson's been hurt a bunch and maybe you'd argue that's inevitable with his playing style, but someone who's that big that fast, that strong with that kind of arm strength. You got to be patient here, someone that demanded patience, but maybe you don't have any because you're competitive in a bad division. Chargers off a buy against the Broncos. This is a four o'clock window game on Sundays. We get to watch this one after commanders Ravens. Denver's getting better performances at a bow nicks here. They hung 34 on the Raiders. He looked really good last week. You can see he's feeling himself a little bit. He's shouting at Sean Peyton on the sideline. They're giving each other the back and forth and the what for. They beat the box 26 to seven. Then they got a one point went over the Jets in a gross weather game. Then they handled the Raiders 34 18. So that's three in a row for Denver. And again, they get Spencer Rattler on a short week Thursday night football after the Chargers. Now the Chargers are off a buy, but if they can somehow be to LA this weekend, they could be looking at a potential five game winning streak and a five in three record. Fun little thing I was looking up when when thinking about some topics for the show and a bit of discussion, I happened to go down a little rabbit hole, start clicking on Denver, some things, some stats talking about bow nicks and the like, you don't know who's an a linebackers assistant coach for them. You don't know. Greg Manoski, old Greg Manoski find a landing spot in charge of just a specific group of linebackers, not all the linebackers, just a couple of guys. Really inside guys, I'll be able to coach you. But for Denver, they're doing kind of what they did last year. Remember, they got off to that terrible start including losing to Washington and they looked unprofessional and awful. All of a sudden, here they go. They're three and two. They won three straight games. You mentioned one of them is incredibly gross that went against the Jets, but they've got a chance now with with the Chargers. You mentioned the Saints on short rest. Carolina, we could look up with Denver having a pretty decent record here through the midway point of the season. Steelers Raiders in Vegas, Pittsburgh is three and two. The Raiders are two and three and the Raiders have made a quarterback change at AOE C time. Aiden O'Connell starting over Gardner mints you for the Steelers. Perhaps one last ride for Justin Fields. They've lost to straight. Mike Tomo was asked last week how does Fields keep his job with now Russell Wilson finally back practicing in full. And he said, when? Well, I guess that means they got to find a way to pull this one out against the Raiders. If they are three and three with three straight losses, I think there's a possibility Russell Wilson starts a prime time game against the Jets on Sunday night next week. Yeah, the the Raiders aren't very good. I think that's pretty clear. The Steelers are odd because one of their groups that defense is awesome. It travels. When TJ Watt plays, they are disruptive and tough to deal with. And he's presumably playing. He's he's he's he's good to go. So the Steelers offense is terrible. It's about doing just enough. Whoever can give you just enough. That's the guy you end up playing. But it's it's a strange looking group here for this modern NFL. The other two games on Sunday afternoon, the Falcons are at the Panthers. This is a very strange four o'clock game, by the way, in Charlotte. I don't understand that at all. Maybe they they moved it after the weather in Carolina or something. Oh, I don't know. I don't I don't either. But Atlanta's three and two, they got to handle their business, get to four and two against the Panthers coming off of a huge overtime win against the Bucks. And then you've got the Lions and the Cowboys at 425. That's a great one. That's your nationally televised Kevin Burkhardt Troy. Kevin Burkhardt Tom Brady game, I'd imagine. If Dallas can win their four and two, but you got to like the Lions to get to four and one, probably on paper coming off there by as well. So they yeah, that's a group that's got one weird, strange loss at Tampa where they outgained him by a whole bunch still find a way to lose the game. But people kind of forgot about Detroit, how good they are. They I think you saw some of that this past week when they played Seattle. But I think that's a game where Dallas kind of needs it to get some good vibes going. And I think Detroit shall ax him. All right, let's went off the field next, Danny. We do this for Bruce Allen. And we want you guys to honor Bruce's time in Washington and all the good he did for the then Redskins by calling in now and telling us what little moral victory made you smile today that nobody else would care about. But I also think this is a good opportunity. How are you spending this crisp fall weekend? Anybody getting out and about? We're doing a little pumpkin patch situation. We're going to eat a little apple cider donut ever had one of those and we got a little bonfire. My neighbor just texted me. We might be doing a little bourbon sipping and watching some sport outdoor tonight fired up about that. Grant and Danny on the fan. But then do they stay there? Oh, that's after they go up. Got it. Once they go up, it is time to win off the field on Grant and Danny. It is Friday, just before four o'clock, three forty five every day at this time a double play driven by your local Washington area. Honda dealers stopping for a great deal in the rugged and capable Honda pilot. Contact your local Washington area. Honda dealers today. The double play is winning off the field. Don't do it for me. Don't do it for Danny. Do it for Goose. Who one day said these words we're winning off the field, but we got to start winning on the field and we won't let them forget it either. It's just too fun. So what's it off the field when it is something that doesn't matter. It's something minor, something like it's cool out. A lot of people are putting the jacket on for the first time in many, many months. You might find a dollar bill in that jacket. If that were to happen, therefore, you would be winning off the field today. I wore jeans for the first time in a long time. Here we go. Through on my jeans, you don't know how they're going to feel, how they're going to fit. Button that button snugged just so everything looked and felt just like I wanted to do. All the right places there. I mean, look at me wrong. It didn't look just like I wanted it to, but the jeans went on and I didn't have major issues. Therefore, I was winning off the field. Normally, normally Friday evenings for my oldest soccer team, they have this big sort of huge mega joint soccer practice with a couple other clubs, which is actually really cool, but it's in the it's in the depths of Chantilly. It's like where Chantilly ends and like kind of the sun meets the the horizon and they run out of water and they would be scared to sail over it if it was Spain back in the 1400s. You know what I mean? Well, they don't have that tonight. No practice tonight, because they got a tournament this weekend. So the tournament's going to be a kick in the jiblets. It's going to be a nice punt to the shins, but there's no practice in Chantilly tonight, thus saving the wife and I from transportation issues. Therefore, I am winning off the field. Now, this is going to be a version that wouldn't work. Don't tell us about on the field wins. Major life accomplishments. Things that everyone will understand to be a victory or something that actually happens between the lines winning on the field. Thank you. The sample I'll give you is the mighty Anandale Adams last night. Okay. I was on the scene. I was reporting live on the scene last night. Yeah, you know, the Anandale Adams sponsored by the grant and any radio program. I do know them. Yeah. They got themselves a big win last night. Here we go over justice winning on the field. They are off the Schneider as they say. Justice was served him. All right. Here we go. Just here we go. Thank you. Silly 37 point output by the boy. Really? Oh, Carlos was running wild. Noah made the Adams Adams drop 37. Noah's rolling right and finding deep shots in the end zone. I mean, it was a beautiful game for the locals, but that is not an all field win. That would not work. Okay. Therefore, I am winning on the field. You switched it up. You did. Here we go. Rich and only. Go ahead, Richard. One of those I feel on today. I bought it. Hey, quick shout out to my wife who's going to be running the Chicago marathon this Sunday. So far. Thank good luck. Did she consider running a marathon somewhere near where she lives? That's never occurred. Okay. I love leaving each other in the area and going somewhere else. That's what you love to do. Mm hmm. She left. I stayed, but it worked out. All right. Yeah, they do. Got it. I'm going to have a bunch of people over on Sunday. I'm going to order a bunch of pies. And then in the mail is to buy one, get one pizzas from Little Caesars. So it's going to be pizza and whiskey. Therefore, I am winning off the field. Sounds like a good time. Dude, I haven't had little Caesars in forever. I see the commercials all the time. Pizza, pizza. It's probably been 15 years. You sleep on those ads. Well, I don't sleep on the ads at all, but I sleep on the pizza. Pizza. I just, I wouldn't know what if I saw it. Once the last time you had little Caesars, you know, probably was 10 years old, something like that. Did you know it's the official pizza of the NFL? Now, by the way, no, it's not. Yes, it is. It's the official sponsor of the NFL. I feel like I see the ads a lot. So that makes a little bit of sense. Although I wouldn't know if you gave me a million dollars in a compass right now, and I had three hours to find a little Caesars, it ain't happening unless I can use a GPS. I mean, there's just no way. Drew, Grace and Bill, how are you winning off the field? Our guys had been a great day. I've been preparing for a tailgate for Sunday all day, and I went to get oysters because we're going to grill some oysters out there, and I went to one of the oyster places out here in Grace and Bill, and I pulled up, and I said I need to get a case of oysters, and the fishing boat was just coming in. And they pulled it right from the boat into my case. Oh, come on. I love that. So what do you do now? You keep them on ice until then, or do you have to keep them on ice? It's 48 hours, that's not as good as you can get. All right, winning off the field. That's pretty legit. He's headed to Baltimore for a football match. Let's go to Dan and Fairfax. What's up, Dan? Hey, boys, so this is the second week in a row that my boss has called me and said, hey, you can leave a little early. And I called last week and said that, but like all of this sequels, like Empire Strikes Back, Big Dope and Two, Godfather Two, we have to amp it up. Big Dope and just knock it out. It's silly. Sorry, Dan, hold on. You popped the room. Go ahead, please, please, please. Yeah. Oh, what happened? We ruined it. No, we didn't ruin it because we were laughing. We ruined it. It was not me. Oh, it's me, I guess. You stopped him in his tracks. You made him stop. He may have said the thing, and I was talking over him. That's possible. That's absolutely crazy, sir. I ruined it fine. I'll take it. No, no, I'm not rubbing your nose. That's fine. I ruined it. I'm just saying, you could have laughed without stopping him. Why didn't you stop him? I just want to roll past that. Where he's going to Empire, Godfather, Beethoven, too. It's a great line. It popped me. I tell you what, that was better than whatever he's going to say. Anyway, he made a funny joke that made us laugh. Therefore, we are. There you go. Winning on the field. What? Whoa, whoa, whoa. That's ridiculous. Bruce, that is ridiculous. Winning off the field. God, Bruce, that's ridiculous. You can't do anything right. Still, you know, the culture is actually damn good. Well, it makes you feel better. He's right. It makes you feel better. You feel better? I feel better. Armando, how are you? Hey, Bob. Hey, Bob. So I haven't been feeling great all week. Just had some kind of upset stomach, having them feeling great. But I haven't the road. Therefore I am. Winning off the field. It's a deeper cut. You got to have been listening. I mean, the real ones now. A few days ago. Man. When's the last time you leroid? I haven't let's be it's several months now. Okay. Yeah, I leroid when I overate five months ago. Justin Arlington. Well, guys, so a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that my grass was looking a little patchy out front. Had to go to Home Depot. I had to navigate that place. Big Saturday. Found myself some good grass seed. Came home, started doing some work, and my wife was a little frustrated because the boys were alone with her. Do you wanted some help? Two weeks later, this morning, outside, out front, added nowhere unsolicited. My wife says this graph looks really good. Wow. Therefore, I'm winning. Winning off the field. He's a dad win too. That he's worried about his yard. He's getting some grass seed. That's two birds with one stone right there, sir. We're going to Home Depot going to be a big weekend. It's got a stub in Richmond. This is the stub I would imagine, right? This is a one stub. That's me. What's up, guys? Hey, it's up, brother. I wanted to say I was at the state fair the other day. It was hot. So I went to the vending machine, put in three bucks to get a drink. First, nothing came out, started with disaster. Then put in another three bucks, decided to take my gamble. About 20 drinks pour out of the vending machine. I spread it amongst the people around me. Therefore, my guy winning off the field has the difficult task of finding takers for a lot of drinks. Yeah, he's the soda god king at that point. Hey, that's amazing. B drinks cost three bucks in a vending machine now. What is the world coming to? 2024, the year of our Lord. I mean, that is absurd. I guess it makes sense because when I was in elementary school, as we led, it was like 50 cents and any machine in like a place would be a dollar. But I remember, I don't know, they must cost 20 bucks now at King's Dominion. Because I still remember I would go to King's Dominion and the Coke machines. It was like 550 for a bottle of Coke. And this was in by 2006. So you might, it must be $42 for a bottle of Coke. The full, the student body led when they jumped it to 55 cents from 50. I mean, you would have thought they'd, they'd invaded a foreign country at that point. It was unreal. Wow. I'm being told there's a little ceasers on little river turnpike. No, there's not. I mean, maybe there is, but like, no, there's not. Is that what I'm saying? They're saying maybe near Anandale high school home of the Adams, Grant and Danny on the fan. Matt Valdez joins us on G and D Valdez. Now I have heard some of the back and forth. The junkies have had this week on this game, but give the people your gut feel right now on Ravens commanders and how you see this thing playing out. Well, I wouldn't be a pompous Raven fan if I didn't think the Ravens were going to win 41 20. So that was my score prediction on the junkies this morning. So I'm sticking with it 41 20 Ravens. It's kind of close, but they pull out late in the fourth quarter. They kind of lean on them with Derek Henry. So Valdez, I you are a Ravens seer like people that follow their teams. I think you have the highest shooting percentage of anybody I know as to how games are going to go and how seasons are going to go, etc. What gives you the confidence? Because I'm with you. I think the Ravens are good. I think this team is going to be right there come Super Bowl time and have a chance to come out of the AFC. It hasn't been just that good yet though. What gives you the confidence? They just have a track record, especially against the NFC Lamar 21 and 1 against the NFC. And they just have a history of kind of, and I don't want to call the commanders a pretender, but just kind of taking these teams that are punching up in a weight class and just kind of putting them in their place. So they have a history of that. You look at the lion last year. You look at the dolphin last year. It's just it's just history. That's all I got to say. It's just history, which makes sense. And I was on a Baltimore show today and they were talking about how the commanders just haven't beat anyone. And I think that's fair when you look at the records. I think the four teams they've beaten are like six and 14 or something. But my retort to that is, okay, they played Arizona. They're not that good. They destroyed them. The last week they played the Browns. They're not any good to Sean Watson's a joke. They beat them to a pulp to the point where they didn't even play their starters in the fourth quarter. Like, do you give any more credence to Washington based on how they're beating the bad teams? Look, Washington is a good team. And I think everyone should be proud of that. Who's a commander's fan. And to be honest with you, on paper, the commanders are probably the best team the Ravens are going to face through six weeks. But until you prove it, I got to go with the Ravens. Until you prove it, I got to go with history. And that's all I'm going to say is that this is a huge benchmark game for the team. I know at the end of the day, if the commanders lose this game, that it still doesn't mean they're a bad team. But until they knock off one of these upper echelon teams, you just can't buy in just yet. Now, these, what's going on with the Ravens defense? And do you think bringing in Dean Pease as kind of a consultant seconds out of eyes, whatever you want to call it, is going to make a difference? As a fan, I really hope so. It's just it's very weird, Danny, because you look at the build game, they really shut down Josh Allen and that high potent offense. And to be honest with you, last year, the defense had the triple crown. They were number one and points allowed. They were number one and takeaways. They were number one in sacks. And the personnel really hasn't changed much. The only thing that changed is Mike McDonald leaving is Anthony Weaver leaving. So if Zach Orr can get his crap together and hopefully Dean Pease can help him with that, I can see them improving upon the season. And it doesn't take much to improve. All you need is just a little bit. I don't need them to be a shutdown defense with how explosive the offense is. I just need them to be middle of the pack. All right. So let's just say hypothetically, you show up to work with the junks on Monday and the commanders have beaten the raven somehow. How do they do it? How do they do it? I think I think a lot of big plays over the top. They're very susceptible over the middle. They're very leaky in the back end with Eddie Jackson and Marcus Williams. And honestly, if there's a lot of flags called, I can see, I can see the commanders really moving down the field that way. I'm not, I'm not going to blame it on the rest. That's not me. But I'm saying the Ravens are heavily penalized team. And it gives you a nugget by the way. You texted me a silly nugget. I did. Land Clark, his referee crew is calling the game. They really don't throw that many flags. And the Ravens on the outside with Wiggins and a slow Marlon Humphrey. They're very handy. So if they let them play hands on the outside, it could be very difficult for Jayden Daniels. I don't think we can throw into tight windows, but to throw in into tight windows for four quarters straight, it's going to be very difficult. So if they, so if they let the game play out that they let, they let everyone get handy on the outside, that's how Jayden could have a subpar game. I bet you didn't have Aldi's giving you a scouting report on the ref. Did you? I'm telling you man. I'm telling you. Who else is giving you ref scouting reports today on GND? Valdez. Thank you, buddy. Thanks, dude. Hey, no problem. Hey, by the way, I'm winning off the field because this is my first call in the grand game. Okay, is that true? First ever? No, he's been on with us. No, first ever. You then you've been on in studio. You've been on with us a ton. Not through, not through a call as an inside. Okay, winning off the field. There you go. Yeah, inside of my building. Yeah. As Ravens insider, we've had drabby. Last time we had drabby as our Seahawks insider was right after the same house rate, I think. Yeah, he was, he was reeling a bit. That was the, that was the veritable kiss, the toilet seat situation for grab there. That was the first of a couple. Thank you, Valdez. No problem, guys. See you again, man. All right, let's keep the blitz moving. All right, that day produces Kevin Sheehan by day and then talks about college football. Also by day, big slate this weekend, double D. What are you looking forward to the most? This answer should be Texas, Oklahoma. I want to say Texas, Oklahoma, but the easy answer is going to be Oregon, Ohio State. First ever match between the two and the regular season. Both of them have expectations to win a potential national championship and neither of them have been tested at all. So we get their first test against each other. It should be a fun one. And it's in prime time. It's not only new and slight to capitalize off television ratings. You get a big game under the lights. I'm excited about that one. I don't believe in Will Howard. Why am I wrong? You're not wrong. I have no reason to believe in Will Howard either. I wanted to last week. The problem is they went up against a good defense in Iowa with everything that goes in on Iowa's offense. That defense is still good. The problem is if you can't score, it doesn't matter how good your defense is when you have the level of talent that Ohio State does. So I'm in the same boat as you, Grant. I don't really know what to think about Will Howard. I liked him at Kansas State, but I think he's moderately better than Kyle McQuarter they had last year, which is positive, but it's not like he's CJ Stroud. So we're going to learn a lot about him, but I'm in the same boat as you. I don't believe in him yet. So I was going to say to you, Ohio State just feels completely untested like they've proven nothing, but it sounds like you feel the same way about number three Oregon. I think Oregon's schedule has been a little bit better, but not a whole lot better. And in the last week, the thing about people, when I talk to people about Oregon, they say, well, you know, they're starting to execute better. And that is true, but at the same time, Dylan gave up to two picks early against Michigan State last week. That shouldn't happen. He should be past the point where he's making silly mistakes, especially when there's opportunity for points on the board, because those came deep into the field, deep into drives. And then you're blowing drives, leaving points on the field. That's when there are a cutely sealed this entire season. So they've been a little more battle test. I mean, they play Boise State. Boise State's a pretty good team, even though they're not a power school. They've been a little more tested, but they still haven't been really, really tested. And Dylan Gable was great in the Red River shoot out last year when he played local homeless. So he hasn't they gave experience, but this might be a different piece with Ohio State. Yeah, then you mentioned Red River shoot out. This is longtime SEC opponents, I guess now Texas, Oklahoma. As soon as I figured out they're going to both be in the ACC somehow, or they'll be like a new conference that like also plays in London or something. I hate it so much, but whatever 120th meeting between Texas and Oklahoma, break that one down for us. Yeah, as they say, Danny, just needs more with the Red River shoot out starting this year. Um, this one should be great. Like I should be super excited about it. If only Oklahoma had a quarterback, like you're getting Quinn Ewers back this week for Texas and with Quinn Ewers healthy. I mean, there's going to be some sort of rust, I'm sure, but with Quinn Ewers healthy, Texas is the best team in college football. And I would say there's a a pretty noticeable gap based on some of the things that we saw last week. But they're the best team in football. And then you look at Oklahoma and they are one of the many really good schools, really big programs that does not have a quarterback that can throw a forward pass consistently, which is shocking in 2024 defensively. They're great. If they could take this year's defense and match it with like one of those Lincoln Riley teams, they would have won a championship, but they don't have a quarterback. This feels like while it should be a great game, it feels like Texas is going to run all over Oklahoma. And that's kind of what I'm expecting them to do that line 14 and a half. I usually don't love big lines in rivalry games, but that's one that I mentioned towards. My second favorite game is not Texas, Oklahoma. It's Ole Miss LSU in the SEC, 9 and 13, LSU's 4 and 1. They lose Jaden Daniels, Malik neighbors and Brian Thomas, who have all been unbelievable and that they're still sitting pretty. By the way, I don't know how they didn't win more games last year. I mean, the defense was obviously terrible, but those guys have all been incredible in the league. What do you make of Ole Miss LSU? Bet the over in this one. That's just free advice. Bet the over. There's going to be a lot of scoring because despite the fact that offensively they've made some adjustments, obviously with no Jake Daniels. Garrett Nussman at their quarterback is a really good quarterback, but has zero running ability. So their offense is way different defensively, they still can't tackle and they still can't stop anybody. And they will let anybody go points up on it. But the funny thing is, guys, if they win that game LSU, the conversation that we've had for the first couple of weeks this season is how does Ole Miss get to college football playoff? If Ole Miss loses, that's their second loss. Presumably if they've already lost two, they're going to lose another one. But then you're looking at this LSU team was an early loss against USC, but they're a one loss team as we approach November. So this is a big one. I mean, this really has a lot of long term season defining stakes on the line here. So I'm with you, and I think this one's going to be a lot of fun. And I think you're going to see a lot of offense. Jackson Darden needs a quote unquote Heisman moment. He really just needs an I'm him kind of moment because he should have had one against Kentucky and he dropped the ball. So this is a great opportunity for him to get back that day. You're the best buddy. Thank you. I appreciate it, fellas. Enjoy the weekend. Hit that local 53 sounder. Our pal Michael Phillips and Richmond, the Richmonder, 910, the fan down there in the capital of the Commonwealth. Miguel, it's still a six and a half point spread. Washington's an underdog in this one. Do you see them competing and maybe even winning? You know, this is crazy. So I'll jump straight to it. We'll get straight to the crazy. You can see a scenario. I'm not saying it'll happen. You can see a scenario where they win by two or three touchdowns, right? You can see a scenario where Baltimore wins by two or three touchdowns. It's a fascinating game because if either defense shows up, that team is immediately at a huge advantage in this game. So I, you know, I respect the six and a half and where it's coming from. But if you're offering the points in a game like this, what that has a lot of randomness to it, I like getting points. Brian Robinson did not practice all week. Two parter, one, do you think he still plays despite not practicing? And two, assuming let's say he does as a game time decision, it's almost a certainty he's not himself. How big of a deal is that? Yeah, today's the first day I worried, right? I don't mind giving a veteran guy Wednesday, Thursday off. We've seen that so many times over the years, guys who know how to get themselves ready for the game. And he's 100% in that camp. The Friday practice is a light one. And it's usually a walkthrough style practice. And that's where the bulk of the mental prep work goes. And with this offense, the speed they move at, you know, one of the things you hear if they're walking through plays a lot because they don't have time to reset after each one. That's a part of what's making this offense good. So I got a little worried when I heard that today. Now, he may still play. He wants to. But if he does, I think you're still looking at an Austin Echler game, which short term doesn't bother me at all. He's been great. And I think he's certainly ready to go. So it doesn't affect me for this week, but it's not great for his long term availability. Miguel, do you buy that the defense is improving? Or is it just, you know, they got to play Cleveland? Well, they didn't get to play Cleveland. I thought they were legit at moments against Arizona, though. So I wouldn't discount that. I think everybody's in a little bit better place. If you look, you know, Stan Ristel moving to the outside, I'm going to bold call to take a young guy out there. Ignagany settling into that inside role, that slot role just feels like everybody's a little bit more comfortable where they're at. I don't know if they're better, Danny, but they're more comfortable and you take anything and get at this point. What is your final prediction and how do you kind of see Washington's offense performing against the bad Ravens defense? You know, I hate to be that guy who says like conventional wisdom is right. But I've looked at this a million different ways. I know you guys have as well. We do all these hours of radio all week. I just don't see a defense on either side that can stop the offense on the other side. I think it's a high scoring game. I'm going to give it to the good guys 35, 34 just because I that that's atonement for all how long it took me to come around on just how fun and how good this team is. But until further notice, I just don't see how you could predict puns happening in this game. We go to the best body. Enjoy the weekend. Take care. See you pal. There is your beltway blitz on Grant and Danny. 25 minutes from now, we will play does Ryan know it for caps tickets. Next, we're taking a look at the fandoll individual player projections looking at the props. We'll play over under commanders Ravens on Sunday. This is Grant and Danny. [silence] Looking forward to giving away the final pair of caps tickets that we have for next Thursday night against the Dallas stars that's coming up at 4 45 right here on Grant and Danny. Ryan will be playing does Ryan know it? You guys will call on to participate at the end of this segment. We'll let you know when right now though it is time ahead of commanders Ravens on Sunday to dive in on some of the individual player props at fandoll. You know, I am a fandoll sports book guy. fandoll.com/gp for all your fandoll needs. Why don't we go over or under the individual player props for commanders Ravens as we do each Friday, Daris. Good afternoon, gentlemen. Come on. Let's start with the start of the country props. Jaden Daniels has the higher passing prop between the two quarterbacks here to 24 and a half. I've got an over on this one. I generally don't for them. Wow. I think they're chasing a little tiny bit. I think there's going to be a little bit of late slinging it here in this one kind of spoiler alert for how I think the game is going to go. But I think Daniels goes over this total by a little. I'll go a slight under. I think he's going to be around 220. Look, you could have a really good passing day and it doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be lighting it up like the Bengals game as an example. He was fantastic throwing the ball. It was 250 and out now that's 20 or so yards, 25 yards past the number here, but hit the 55 yarder to McClorny had a long touchdown at the end of the game. So I think 220 and we saw him look really good at foreign completions against the Cardinals barely through for 230 in that game through for 226 against the Giants at a huge second half. So I think mid 220 something like that under the number for Jaden Daniels. I'm with you though. I think there's a chance they're chasing and throwing the ball in the second half. How about the reigning MVP? He comes in with the passing prop of 221 and a half. Lamar Jackson. I will go over because he's playing Washington's defense. I also think Zate Flowers is going to have a good game. I mentioned that earlier, but I like Benjamin St. Juice as a big physical long lengthy corner against big physical wide receivers. More than I like him against like smaller twitchier guys. Flowers seven for a buck 11. This past week, it was his second seven catch, 90 yard game this season. I think they might have found something there and got something going. So I'm going to go over for Jackson, not by a lot. I think he throws for around 230 to 40, but he's coming off of a pretty strong passing performance. And I do think they're going to be able to run the ball pretty well. So it's not like he's going to have to throw it a ton, but I think they'll make some big plays. Yeah, I've been hammering the overall and opposing quarterbacks against Washington. I've been wrong the past a few weeks. So I'm going to say over, but I'm with you. I don't think it's like a 400 yard down. I don't think it's what he did last week against Cincinnati. I think they'll run the ball too well for that to happen. So I've got him in that 225 230 range. So a slight overage. They have a bunch of rushing props here for the quarterbacks, of course, Jaden Daniels. His rushing prop is set at 48 and a half under for me on this one. He's been under bread about half the time. And I think both were so focused is going to be to prevent that. I think it's going to be a lot of espionage. It's a lot of boring rush lanes, just sort of keeping him there in the pocket again. Easier said than done to negate all of it. But I think when he does run, it's going to be a lot of those three and four get out of trouble, not much there. Instead of the play getting minus 10, it'll be plus two or three. So I've got a slight under here. This is an over 82 yards this past week. Second time he's run for 80. He has been at 44 or higher four out of five weeks without really breaking much of a sweat. He has not been held under 40 yards, essentially this season. So the answer is over. If they're going to win, he's going to have to be spectacular and put his cape on and fly around a little bit. Plus, it's the Jaden Daniels Lamar Jackson show. We know that. He said all the right things at the podium. Frankly, I loved what he said. I'm not Lamar. I'm not trying to be Lamar. We're played different styles, which to me means in his mind, he's more of a passer, less of a runner. It's like, I dig that. I like that. All that's good. Still though, when this game starts, you're basically going head to head and everybody's mind with the two time MVP is the dual threat superstars. And you're going to want to run for more yards and throw for more yards than him. So he's going to try to make the spectacular play a couple times and he's going to make it once or twice. I think he goes over that number. Well, Lamar Jackson go over under 55 and a half rushing yards over 55 yards. Again, I don't see a path really to stopping the Ravens on the ground. And that means primarily him. So I think he goes over. If I'm saying he's going to throw for 260 and run for 60, you know, it's a 300 plus yard day for Lamar Jackson, which is not abnormal. That's how you win two MVPs. And right now he's probably the front runner in the MVP balloting for a third. He's been spectacular. Nine touchdowns, one pick so far this year. Yeah, he's had one game underneath this rushing total. So I'm going to go over here again. I don't think it's 150 yards, but I do think he goes over the total. But he goes for like 150 or 25. Which one would you pick? 150. Yeah, I mean, there's a path to the monster game just so we're all on the same page yardage for him this year, 55, 54, 87, 45, 122 that week one game against the Chiefs who ran 16 times. It's mostly been that he's been held in check other than the Dallas game where he kind of ran all over. But I think this is going to look more like the Dallas game. He had 14 for 87 and a touchdown. I'm banking on like 12 for 90 and a score from Lamar in this game. Well, the other big rusher from that Dallas game was Derek Henry. He has this prop set at 83 and a half. I kind of want to go and under this, which I think stuns people probably. I think I am going to go under. I think Washington just like puts all of their energy into clogging up the interior. And it's like a 18 carry for 80 yard kind of Derek Henry game, something like that. Yeah, I'll say under narrowly. And then it's the Lamar Jackson show. Interesting. I thought I was going to have my little hot take that they hold Derek Henry under the total, but I do. I have him under, but here's the little caveat. One Lamar Jackson has a good rushing day. And so does Justice Hill. He'll have up, you know, seven burst runs that are annoying and knock you around a little bit too. But Henry's going to be the bruiser, the thunder there. And then Justice Hill will be the lightning. They will run it effectively. Henry will be the yeoman, you know, sort of the workman like yards. He'll be a bit more explosive. With Brian Robinson's injury status in question, there are no other rushing props available. So move on to receiving. Let's start with Terry McCord, 60, 60 and a half receiving yards for Terry McCorn. I got the under here. I generally go under on a more you haven't given Terry an over yet. Yeah. So a hundredos in there. Yeah. And I've so but I've been right the other three times. But it's not a great track record. It's three out of five. It's unbelievable. But again, I think everybody knows that's that's the threat. That's the guy that can cause your problems. Now it hasn't stopped him a couple times from going all over 100. But I think for Baltimore's sake, they're going to try to keep everything in front. I think other guys are going to have a chance to eat. I think Terry's right around 50 55. What's the number? 16 and a half. It's getting higher because it's been in a low 50s. Under. Under. I think it's like a five for 58 or something like that. This will be the other, the other's game. You know, this is there's no a brown back. Maybe it's a three for 40 for Luke McCaffery. I think Austin Eckler's going to catch a bunch of passes out of the backfield. I don't think this is a Terry McClorin game does have one hundred and one 12 over his last three games with 52 sandwiched in the middle. The second week in a row that Zach Gertz has his receiving prop set at 27 and a half. I always go over on this and I'm I've been wrong. I think four out of five times. So I'm not going to go under. Maybe it maybe that changes his fortune this week. But just there's nothing dynamic happening. He dropped a couple passes last week. They should have caught. So I, you know, again, I think we're getting closer and closer to Ben Senate time, maybe being featured a bit more as a receiver, but I think it still catches his four for, you know, 25 26, but he's right there. I'll go over it. It takes two decent catches in the middle of the field to get him into the numbers. Just so small. By the way, as I think about the McClorin thing, the Ravens are 31st against the passing of a lot of big plays. If I'm going under on McClorin, which I'll stick with, that means I got to hammer some overs on other receivers, because there's going to be plays to be made. Like I think this could be a, I know we just got one last week and two in a row over two weeks wouldn't make sense. But like a Deami Brown home run game. Like I could see a Deami 57 65 yard. I think Zacchaeus has an ice ball game. I think McCaffrey has another, you know, four for 35 kind of a game. Yeah. No injury designation on Noah Brown either. So he'll be back. They do have a prop for Austin Echler receiving yards at 18 and a half. Over. Way, way, way over. I'm going to double that night go over. I'm going to say he catches six balls for 75 yards in this game. I think Echler could end up being their leading receiver in this game because they, they don't want the pass rush to get home. They're going to try to keep things simple on the road. It's going to be really loud and they're going to get the ball in his hands. You saw it with Cincinnati, by the way, he ended up getting banged up with the concussion or, but in that game, in like a raucous environment on the road, the entire game plan in the first quarter was like, hey, how do we get the ball to Austin Echler so that he can just calm everybody down by getting yardage just ripped off half the field, by the way, in a couple of touches. Yeah. So give me over on Austin Echler over. Actually, that might be the thing I feel best about that we've talked about. Me too. Raven's wide receivers a flowers has this prop set of 54 and a half. I think there's an over here. I think there's a couple underneath, and then I think he's the guy that wanders behind the secondary when everybody's tired of getting the gut punch from from Hill from Henry from Lamar Jackson from likely and everybody else kind of underneath. There's your home run shot. I think he catches one big pass to put him over that total. This feels like an easy over for me. Again, I could see him going for 90 100 100 10 something like that. I do not like that style of receiver against this team. The Amman Ross and Brown school. Yeah, he's even yeah, kind of like the volume twitchy underneath guy, but like whatever that is, I think he'll chew them up. They live in nickel and diamonds. It's almost all zone for the most part. So you just throttle it down. You find those little spots and holes in their defense. I think he'll be able to do that. The thing that always scares me with him is it seems like he's always good for once every few games, like a bubble that he takes for 70 yards or whatever. I just need that not to happen. Make them earn every blade of grass. Make them go on long drives. Don't give them anything over the top easy. And Lamar has not really hit on those throws this season where they have the deep shots, like the home run balls down the field, middle of the field. But let's not give Zaflauer as a catch and run situation either. The tight end duo of Mark Andrews and Isaiah likely both have receiving props at 23 and a half. How do we feel about each of them? By the way, what happened to Mark and I don't know what's going on. I don't know if he's just lost. He's 29. It's a lot of mileage on those legs, but he's not 35. Yeah, there's been injury. There's he's always seems to be slowed with something nagging. Maybe it all finally caught up with them. Listen to these numbers. Two catches for 14 against the Chiefs. Four for 50, which isn't terrible against the Raiders. No catches against the Cowboys. He played in the game. No catches against the bills. He played in the game back to back weeks, none. And then he had four for 55 against the Bengals. They ran 100 plays. It was kind of like, you know, the Falcons game where everyone's like, Oh man, Drake London, great game. Of course, everyone had a great game. They ran 90 plays and threw for 500 yards. Of course, they had a great game. So I don't know, man, he is not the same. I will go. I'll go over on both because it's such a low total. Yeah. And I'm not going to bet under 23, but he's been over that in just two of five games and also feels like the game where he gets going just because it's Washington. And of course, does he have it gets going? Do they even want him to get you? Who knows? Maybe it's a likely show tight end. Yeah, like likely could go for 90 yards. It wouldn't surprise me. Yeah, I think likely as I said, I think likely goes for 45, 50 yards. I think he likely does do like he does. Yeah, likely. Maybe not unlikely. Likely or not. The segment on Fox. I wonder if they do that. You think they should do that. Thank you. We'll want the end of this one back. Got away from us a little bit. That one got away from me. I blame myself. I blame myself. What is that? It's Sam lot. Where they design the, you know, the little device to get the baseball, the two brothers, the one is like an engineer. And like he's got like dust all over his face. Do you remember what I'm talking about? I know. He blows up and it doesn't work in a big explosion. And he goes, I blame myself. It's such a very adult thing to do. The blame yourself. That's what's funny. All right. Next, who wants caps tickets? Raise your hands. Put your hand down, Danny. Who wants caps tickets in your car? Raise your hand. If you want them, you got to play right now. Next does Ryan Noah 80636. 10067. We've only got one pair for you right here on G and D. [BLANK_AUDIO] Yeah, it's game time on Grant and Danny. They'll be playing the Dallas stars Thursday, October 17th, capital one arena for tickets in the complete cap schedule. Go to the Fandisi dot com slash events. The way you're going to win these tickets is very simple. We're going to play does Ryan know it? We have put together a huge list of questions. I've pulled most of mine from some fifth grade quizzes that I could find online. Danny, you've scoured the internet for yours as well. I've gone all over the place. It's a myriad of categories. With that in mind, it is time for does Ryan know it? Now, the only thing I think we need to get out of the way is how many correct guesses are needed to win the tickets? I say we start with three. Okay. Let's start with three. And if we don't have a winner, you know, seven, eight, nine, ten minutes, whatever, then we'll go down to two. Okay. Everyone agree? We agree to that? Yeah. All right. So we will start. We'll go first come, first serve here. Dylan and Gaithersburg on Grant and Danny wants to go see the caps next Thursday night. Hello, Dylan. How are you? I'm doing well. Thanks for having me on. You know how to play the game, correct? I think I just got to get the answers right. Don't have the right. No, no. So here's what's going to happen. I'm going to tell you the question. You and Ryan will both hear it. You do not answer. You don't say anything, except whether you think Ryan will know the answer. This isn't about you. It's about Ryan knowing. We don't care if you know it. It's if Ryan knows and you bet yes or no. All right. So here I'll give you the first question. Ready? The first question is what force was discovered and named by Sir Isaac Newton in 1665? Does Ryan know the answer? I do think Ryan is a pretty sharp guy, but I do not think this is in his repertoire. I think the answer is going to be he does not know it. Betting on no. Ryan, what was discovered and named by Sir Isaac Newton in 1665? Is it gravity? It is grabbing. Starring Sandra Bullock. It is. Sorry, but I believe Dylan, you bet against your boy Ryan and you best not miss. Let's go to Chris who's in Falls Church, home of the Jaguars. What's up, Chris? How are you? Good. How are you doing, buddy? I'm fine. I'm gonna. Unfortunately, I'm supposed to banged up. Sorry. Let's see if we can go through it. Are you okay? Yeah, Chris. Are you on Bluetooth or speaker or anything weird? Yeah. I am on Bluetooth. All right. Hop off that for us because you sound terrible. Just get on your normal phone. All right. Here's your first question. Are you ready? The question is Danny question is who sings the song? Don't stop believing. The song don't stop believing. Does Ryan know the answer? Ryan, who sings don't stop believing fellow Falls Church, man. You went to high school, Falls Church. Is this Led Zeppelin? It is not. Oh, it is not. That's tough, Chris. It is not. So here we go. We've had one person back, Ryan. Wait, so who was it? That's journey. We'll figure that out later, buddy. Okay, I'm sorry. That's okay. Billy's in Springfield on Grant and Danny. Hello, Billy. How are you? Good. How are you doing? Very well. You know what a play does Ryan know it for caps tickets, right? I do. All right. Here's your first question. You need to get three of these right? Nobody's gotten one right so far. Which planet in the solar system was considered a planet for decades until 2006? Does Ryan know it? Yeah. Ryan, which planet considered a planet for decades until 2006 has been reclassified? Uranus. That is incorrect. That is tough. I honestly, I asked Danny, I said this one's too easy to ask him, right? And Danny, this was a great answer. Danny goes, I never know what's too easy. I never know. I never know. I never know what the right level is. This one was so you didn't know that one. I'm not an astronomy guy. You wanted a second guess real quick. This doesn't matter. But is it Pluto? It is. It is. Yeah. We were looking for Pluto. Pluto there. Remember all the news stories about how Pluto is not a planet. Pluto no longer a planet. They didn't say anything about Uranus, which is still very much a planet among other things. Annie is in Arlington on Grant and Danny. Hello, Annie. Hey, hi. You want to go to the CAPS game? Oh, yes, I do. All right. You know how the game is played? Yeah, I do. Very good. Ryan, there's six main characters on Friends named two of them. Annie, can you name two characters from the show Friends? Um, oh, I hope so because I'm going to say yes. betting on Ryan, Ryan, go. One of the most famous shows ever. Of course you can, Ryan. We're going to start off with Ben. Anybody else? Victoria. There you go. Sorry, Annie. You're doing a bit. I've never seen the friends. I've never seen Fred. You don't know any of the characters on Friends. No, I haven't seen a second of Friends before. You've never heard of Ross. Rachel. No, Joey. No, Chandler. Is it Jennifer Aniston and Friends? Is that it? Is that it? She played? What did he just say? Electoria. What did you play as Victoria? What was Ben again? Ben Ben Ben Ben's Ross's son, but you didn't know that. All right. Yes. So would that have worked? No. Yes, it wouldn't have. I said the six main characters on Friends. The show's about six friends had a son. So it's not one of the main characters. Not a friend's guy, but still for some reason bothered by your answer. I'm sure. All right. I mean, just please know that that's not that's not difficult. Oh, that's just on television. Friends, thanks. Go to George and Waldorf. He's letting so many people down. Someone George. What's up, George? What's up, guys? Come on, Ryan, you can do better. Just go. Kenny, though? Just go. No, three times and see where that gets you. All right. Are you ready? You ready for the question? All right. Here we go. In the number sequence, 0.0347, 0.0347. The three is in which decimal place? 0.0347. Does Ryan know the answer? No. Ryan, 0.0347. The three is in which decimal place? It's not the 10th, because that's the first one. 20. I don't know. I mean, this is incredible. I always want. It's the hundreds. Okay, it's the second one next to this is third grade. I don't care about this. The 20th guy. Don't don't don't get bogged down. We have to give away tickets. Okay. Don't get bogged down. So we got that first one, right? He's doing a bit. No, he's doing a bit. This is very real. That's what that's right. You're doing good. That's what makes it great. This says you're doing good. All right. Here we go. My boy. You need two more to win here. Okay, bet on or against Ryan. Ryan, who won the 2021 World Series? Does Ryan know the answer to who won the 2021 World Series? No, he's a big baseball guy. Guy. Who was it? Oh, he's taking too long. Wow. No, no, for three seconds. I don't want to count down. We got tickets to give away. He's got five minutes. I'm drawing a blank right now. I need an answer. I know 2021 was it the Dodgers in 2020. Who won it right after that? And Braves Braves. I mean, it's right, but that took too long. Yeah, that took a really long time. I don't know what he knew it. I guess he knew it. And you guys know I knew it. You know what too much controversy. I'm starting a five second clock from now on. You got to give him another question. All right, here we go. I don't want to screw Georgia. Next question. You got five seconds to answer, Cleary. All right, George, does Ryan know who's sang the song Billy Jean? Who sang Billy Jean? Ryan, you know it? Yes. Michael Jackson is correct. All right. One more for the win. Get it right. You're right here, George. You got one you really want to use. I got a fun one here, I think. Whichever one I can go, you can tell me. You go. Here we go. As a geography guy. What is the capital of Alabama? What is the capital of Alabama? Does Ryan know it? George? No. Ryan, five seconds starting Montgomery. Boom. Oh my god. Sorry, George. The thing about, Cleary, we never give away the tickets. It's an how could anyone know how could anyone know ever? All right, we got to try one more really quick. We might be late. Here we go. Let's go to Walter and warranted on Grant and Danny Walter. You there? Yes. All right. Speed round. Ready for your question? Huh? What were the names of the artificial Earth satellites launched by the Russians starting in 1957 during the space race? Does Ryan know it? No. Ryan, the name of the three artificial satellites launched by the Russians in '57? No idea. I know it's not right. Star length. That's Elon Musk. Very close. We were looking for Sputnik. There's one. Here we go. Here's the next one. What band saying hey Jude? Does Ryan know it? No. Ryan, who's saying who's saying hey Jude? Journey? Two for two? We were looking for the Beatles. The Beatles there. The Beatles. No, hey Jude. No idea. Hey Jude. Maybe if I heard the tune. I think you just did. I think that right. Get it. Grant just smashed it. Two words. Okay. All right. Uh, Danny, one more? I got another one. Here we go. You're on a heater here. You're just saying no. It's working out for you. All right. The current governor of Virginia is Glenn Yunken. Can Ryan name any other governor in the history of the state of Virginia? No. Ryan. Ralph North, I'm Terry McCall of name mall. How could you know? How could you know? I don't know. What is that one? All right. We still got tickets to give away. We will do that as soon as we return on Grant and Danny here on the fan also at our five o'clock top of the hour, the commanders will beat the Ravens if that's next on G and D. All right. We'll see you in the next one. Bye. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. All right. We got a pair of tickets. We got to give away so we can get back to our football game. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. you. we're playing does Ryan know it. - It's very simple. Don't care whether you know it or not. That's not the question. Does Ryan, well, we'll ask the question. You will have a chance to bet on or against Ryan. You'll say, does he know it, does he not? And if you get too right, we're lowering it to two now, then you get to go to the caps game. - That's the big development here. You only have to get two in a row to win the prize in the interest of time as we are now on to an unplanned second segment to try to give tickets away. - Does Ryan know it in the order that they came in? Can in Bethesda is next. Hello, Ken, how are you? - Doing okay, have a job. - Doing well, you know how to play, correct? - I've been listening carefully. - You know what to do. - Here we go. - All right, so here's the first question I've got. Which legendary American novel features characters Atticus Finch and Boo Radley? - Does Ryan know it? - Ryan does not know that. - I mean, we all read it in school, let's see. - It's been a long time, but I think I know that one. - Legendary American novel Atticus Finch and Boo Radley. Ryan, what's the book? - Ooh. - No idea. (laughing) - What if it was called No Idea? (laughing) You are correct. - It's to kill a mockingbird, ever heard of that? - Yes, I did read that back in the day. Attaboy, I left the lasting impression. - All right, Ken, you got a chance to win right here. Here we go. - This would be quite a development. - Who wrote the star-spangled banner? Who wrote the star-spangled banner? Does Ryan know it? - Ooh, it's a tougher answer, but I'm gonna say he does not. - He does not beg against Ryan. Ryan, who wrote the star-spangled banner? - Ah, the tough one. I know it, I don't though. I'm gonna guess I know it's wrong, Patrick Henry. (laughing) - What a journey we just went on. (laughing) I know it, no, I don't-- - Ken, you're going to the cap skating center. - Oh man, congratulations. - Way to go, Ken. - All right, thank you. - We'll start with that. - Oh, no. - By the way, I had a question that where the answer was, Patrick Henry, I didn't ask it. - I wanna go back to that real quick. (laughing) Workshop that in, noodle me through that answer. - I don't know it, and that's why I guess Patrick Henry. - You said you knew it. - 'Cause I know it. - I don't know it. - I do wanna say it's now, it's gonna come to me a little bit. It's a female who actually wrote that song. - Is it though? - Is it? - I don't know. - I'm out going from Patrick Henry to a female, right? - No, 'cause I've told you I don't know this. - Okay. - Who is it? Before we get to that. (laughing) - How did you settle on Patrick Henry as your guess? You just came to mind. - You came to mind. - When you're first instinct is correct most of the time, right? - I believe the answer is Francis Scott Key. - That was the theme with Baltimore this week. Yeah. - That's right. - That's who I went with. - Well, an Edgar Allan Poe would have been a better one. - For the National Anthem? - Who wrote the Raven? Edgar Allan Poe. There you go. Francis Scott Key's that you're looking for? - Yeah, I was looking for Francis Scott Key there. - I love the idea of... - I know it though, I doubt it. - I know this one. - Oh, I don't know this one. (laughing) Oh, by the way, Patrick Henry. Oh, that was priceless. - That's a lot of fun. Thank you, Rhino. - Thank you always. - Way to go. - We appreciate you. That was a good time. Hopefully, Ken enjoys himself at the caps game for everybody else who participated. We appreciate it. Better luck next time. We'll have caps to get throughout the season here on The Fan. Let's get back to our football Friday though, and the commanders in the Ravens, speaking of the Raven and Edgar Allan Poe up in Baltimore. Danny, the commanders will beat the Ravens, if. - They have a lead. They're prolific early. If they get up on Baltimore, somehow. I mean, it happens. Kick off return, a busted coverage, long touchdown pass, a defensive touchdown, something crazy happens, where they get a lead, and that lead continues. Even if you're going back and forth at some point, the Ravens will be able to stay with their game plan for a while, right? If it's just a one-score game, if it's a 10-point game, et cetera, they know they feel good about themselves to be able to wear you down and win playing their way. If you make them play not their way, then you got a shot at this thing. If Washington is up by a couple of touchdowns in the second half and it becomes a dropback game, I like the chances. - If they can be plus two in turnovers and keep Derek Henry quiet on the ground, I don't know that either of those two things is likely on the road, and it's why I'm not going to pick them to win. But if you were to tell me right now, Washington beat the Ravens, you're looking back in Rewind now at this game, I would say, okay, I bet you it's like three turnovers for the Ravens and only one or zero for the commanders. And Derek Henry was held to sub four and a half yards per carry. They held him in check. If they do those two things, that's kind of the whole checklist for me. I think it's a tight ball game that comes down to the wire at that point and it is very, very winnable. But it sounds like you agree with me that the Ravens are better and you agree with me that this is not a matchup where Washington's defense looks favorable on paper. This is not a game where we should expect them to go out and shove it on Baltimore, look really, really good defensively. I just think you got to make a few plays to cancel out a lot of the bad along the way. It's a chunky-artage playmaker's league. So you pick off Lamar, you get a sack fumble, maybe you knock the ball out as a flower's hand, as he's diving for a first down or something. You know, a couple of wacky things happen along the way and you're right there. - There's a lot of good history on Baltimore side here in terms of their overall record against the NFC and you know, their regular seasons, when Lamar Jackson plays and a lot of stuff that says that. So I also think, partly from a Washington perspective is, it's not just, we think about this in terms of stocks, right? Like the hockey stick, that's the dream, where it starts off one and then it basically just goes straight up and stays there forever. This is not what happens in pro sports. Like I know the charmed ride isn't over 'cause you lose a game, but there has to be some kind of setback, the helium that's given us this unbelievable rise from they're gonna pick top five in the draft to maybe their number one in power rankings. And Jaden Daniels is the MVP through five games type helium that's surrounding this team. There's gotta be some moment of adversity, some moment of you gotta recover. It doesn't all work out like a fairytale, right? This isn't a 90 minute movie on the Disney Channel, okay? I think there's a little bit of a setback coming. I think it's fine, by the way. I'm not down on that. I shouldn't, I don't sound pessimistic. - Fairness, I mean, like we've kind of had some of those moments. We just don't acknowledge or remember them. And I mean that in a good way, not a bad way to-- - I mean like in-game? - Yeah, like I thought the Bucks game was not good. They could throw the football at all. They were one of the lowest graded passing offenses and he was one of the lowest graded passers in the league coming out of week one. You know, the first half the Giants game was awful. If you go back and watch that now, it's like a different offense. He got sacked, I think five times in the first half of that game and kind of what was hemmed into the pocket and hit a bunch. Like we now don't think about it 'cause that's a long time ago. - Right, well in this, I mean they ripped off four straight, week one results are always kind of weird. So I'm sort of looking at it. - Making like excuse, I'm not poking at 'em. I'm just saying like, maybe that was the bad. Like it's not like it's-- - It's really awesome. - Great, like the bad has kind of happened. It's just been a little while and there's more coming clearly. It's not gonna be linearly awesome the rest of the season. I just mean that I would feel more like there's gotta be a bad half, there's gotta be a bad performance, there's gotta be a dud coming. If they hadn't already happened, we're just focusing on the 85% that's been really, really good. - But I'm not talking about a dud. I'm talking about where like it's, right now it's charmed life. It's, they stub their toe and it's to bend over and find a $20 bill on the sidewalk. - You're saying they fumble a snap and you know they-- - Or just lose a game against a good team. Like that's all I'm talking about. Where this charmed ride where everything that you do turns to gold doesn't turn to gold for a week. And you play competitive game and you could lose. Like that happens all the time in this league, right? Teams that are good don't be another team that's good. It's not gonna change my view of them or how magical the season already has been to this point. My point is like it can't just be elevator on the ground floor, ding! Now you're on the roof, here we are at perfect. And number one, there's gonna be some setbacks. There's got it like the momentum's got a, one balloon's got a pop but we're still a float. - So okay, that makes more sense. I, I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought that the idea was like everything's been so good so far offensively that there's no way that there's not basically the bottom falling out coming. - Right. - And I'm just saying, well, it could be another couple of games before that happens or it hasn't all been perfect. I mean, we've mixed some of those quarters in and there've been enough plays that maybe this is what it looks like. If you have a bad half, the next half's really good and it's good enough to win. But I think you're onto something there. Going into the Bengals game, my argument for why everyone was not giving them enough of a chance. I didn't think they'd win outright was. If you remember, I kept saying like, what if Jaden Daniels just has one of those games? Where he won the Heisman because when he was on national TV, under the bright lights with Kirk Herb Street on the call or whatever, like the, when the audiences were the biggest against the best opponents he balled out. That was the college resume last year. You play in Alabama, you pick the match up for LSU, he does some of his best work. And my point was, what if he's just one of those guys? What if you just got one of them dudes? That just, oh, is this the huge stage the game everybody cares about? This is your when you're Heisman game. Just like the Bengals game was for him. It was the best he's been. What's to say, this isn't what he does, that you don't have one of those super special guys that has an incredible performance. Like, what if he's better than he was against Arizona and Cleveland in this game? Which, I thought he was pretty good in both of those games to really good. Bengals game's been his best game. What if this is his second best game of the year? And that's just what he does. He elevates his game in these spots with everybody watching with the most anticipated game of the weekend because he's going head-to-head with Lamar Jackson and, you know, those two guys have a chance to put him in the show. Exactly. Yeah, I mean, it happened again since he. Why can't it happen again? Entirely possible. I mean, that's the thing. It's not as if this is the 85 Bears, the 2000 Ravens defense you're playing against as well. That might lend itself to having a big game. That certainly is the path to winning. You know, like, it's the type of thing where you sort of hesitate this early in his career. At this stage, with Patton Holmes making whatever he makes and all the different pelts on the wall for him, it's fair to say, Pat, listen, Pacheco's hurt, Rice's hurt, we don't have much. It's got to be you, dude. It's all on your shoulders. And he's like, that's no problem. And all got MVP multiple times. However, we're going to Super Bowl again. I may try having a co-trade. Boom, fine. For a guy in his sixth NFL start, it's probably not fair to ask every week, but there may be weeks where you got to be like, listen, dude, you got to be super hero this week. We're playing a team that frankly does what we do and has done it at a high level for a much longer time with a lot more deposits in the bank. So we're chasing this group to be legitimate and well thought of them being top five or six or seven and everybody's power rankings every week. We've had a nice run of four games in a row. They've had a nice set of seasons, five, six in a row now, including a 14 win season, a 13 win season last year. That's what we're trying to get to. So this may be a week where you've got to do a little bit more. That's a little bit extra on the scrambles. Instead of going out of bounds, maybe cut back that time or die for the end zone that time. I mean, who knows? You can't major in that, I don't think. And keep them healthy, but maybe this is one of those games where you go, yeah, put the cape on, dude. - There is the team version of what I'm saying with Daniels too, which is maybe they're just better than Baltimore. - That's not crazy either. - Maybe they're just that good. Like we know they're good, they're four in one, they've dominated Cleveland, they've crushed the Cardinals. But maybe they're just elite. I mean, I know that sounds silly, but I think it should be acknowledged or at least thrown out there before we play a game on Sunday here as a town. What if they are just one of the best teams in the NFL? - Yeah. - And the Ravens, we view as like they're going up a weight class and they knock out Baltimore. And we realize they actually are a heavyweight contender that they could, in any weight class, they could get to strap. - That's of the different sort of scenarios and path in this little choose your own adventure book, right? Where that's the best case is none of this stuff is, I'm not arguing that it's a mirage, by the way, you got to be good to beat a couple of teams in a row that they have. That's not flooky. That's what good teams do. But it's now bonafide. You're real, real good. Not just, oh, that's nice. Good couple of weeks, gang, need oh, and now we're back to normal. There's no regression because they're nasty. Like they're legit. - Do you guys think that the commanders beat the Ravens? - Yes or no, 806361067 and how would Washington beat Baltimore? If we're telling you, they pulled it off. After the fact we know this already, how did they do it? 806361067, Grant and Danny on the fan. (silence) (silence) (silence) (silence) - What a game Sunday shaping up to be for the commanders and the Ravens. There is a lot of excitement in town. A litmus test opportunity for the four and one commanders to see how they stack up against a team that a lot of people think could make a deep playoff run out of the AFC in Baltimore. Question for you guys is how do the commanders beat the Ravens? - 800-6361067, 800-6361067, let's hit the phones and go to Mike in Waldorf. What's up, Mike? - What's going on, fellas? - Hey, buddy. - Hey, man. So look, our run offense is top five and from that mistaken. They run defensive top five. Our pass offense is top 10 if I'm not mistaken. And their pass defense is lower ranked than the lead. I feel like we come out, pass heavy. Jayden does his thing when he has blitzes coming, gets to moving around, making plays, and we are going to get it done in a big way. I know that does not sound like, you know, the normal talk around them because I feel like this is more so a challenge for us as well as them defensively. Let me know what you think. - Appreciate you. - Love you all. - Love you all. - Be safe. - Thank you, man. Yeah, I mean, that's the best case scenario. We talked about it before the break, right? Where Washington, like Baltimore struggled, there's one really good game on the resume against Buffalo defensively, but nobody has stopped Washington yet. The same way I was saying earlier in the show, nobody stopped Baltimore's running game. I don't think Washington's the team to do it. We'll flip that. Nobody stopped Washington's offense really since week one, since Jayden Daniels kind of has grown into this since the second half of the Giants game. And they only stopped themselves in that game, really, when they had nothing but they had no punts and got to the red zone every time, end up selling for field goals. But lining up and playing, nobody slowed them down. And is this the defense to do it? I mean, I think that's the question for the game, right? Their running game is their offense. And this is the number one run defense in the league. So I think that's the complicating part for Washington is when we say the Ravens defense is not that good, that's fair, they're middle of the pack and they're terrible as a pass defense, 31st out of 32 teams. The penultimate defense and rankings in the entire NFL. But that does not tell the story at the thing you're good at. They are the best at taking away. 60 yards per game on the ground. And it's not like everybody has been up on them so much, or I should say behind on them so much that they have to, you know, salt the game away or something like that. That's not what we're talking about. I do think some of it is like the Bengals last week never had to run it because they could throw it. The Raiders in the second half of Gardner-Menshew ate the Ravens lunch, didn't really have to run the ball 'cause they could throw it. The Chiefs didn't really do a whole lot running the football in the first week because they were able to move the ball with short passes. So maybe Washington is gonna be able to do that and if they run it or not, it doesn't matter that much. Let's go to Nick in Prince William. What's up? Nick, you there? He hung up as soon as we went to him. Unbelievable. Waiting for that exact time and then he's like, "Nope, that's all for me." Let's go on a Sea App style. Let's make the rounds. Callahan in Minnesota. What's up? How are you? What's up, guys? First off, I have some things I want to list really quickly but first off, left hand up for both of you guys. Danny, the perfect basketball game I heard and Grant standing up to those pesky Raven fans earlier in the day. I loved it, dude. Talk your stuff. Oh, thank you. Thank you. An extra acknowledging my Tuesday night, hot ending to pick up basketball. I didn't play great the whole time, but that last game took it upon myself. It took a personal like Michael Jordan and helped the team win. I love it. You got the tongue out and you got ice in your veins. I have Washington winning 31 to 24 and how we're going to win is we need to continue to play clean football with minimal penalties like we have the last few weeks. I think that's key. Our old line needs to keep playing really well. They're not the hogs, but I'm calling them the piglets because they're the baby hogs right now, dude. We need to clog up the holes on defense and we need another good week of linebacker play. Plus, take some shots down the field with their week secondary. I think Luke's going to have a killer game. He's leading the league with 81.1% creating separation. And I see him having a touchdown in 65 receiving yards. So love you guys. Thanks for taking my call and have a nice weekend. We promised him yesterday if he scored a touchdown, we'd eat chocolate lava cakes for him on Monday. From Chili's. From Chili's. Those are where he likes his chocolate lava cakes from me and him event and comment. I mean, this past week against Cleveland was the worst it's been for Washington recently in terms of penalties. They had five for 30. You would sign up for that site unseen. Oh, every time. Every single week. Because the big ones are the 15 yarders or the 42 yard pass interference or something like that. Five penalties for 30 yards. Absolutely, yes, please. Week before that for Washington when they were out in Arizona for the second time in as many weeks, they didn't commit a single penalty on offense until the end of the game when it was already out of reach. And then they ended up getting 40-some penalty yards down the stretch, but it was over. It didn't matter. When you and I were in Cincinnati with Daris sitting in the stands, watching them just move up and down the field against the Bengals. All game long, they had three penalties for 28 yards. They have been amazing in that regard. When you go on the road, that's not supposed to happen. That's why it was so amazing. In that environment in Sensi, that was so loud. Like Arizona is not as impressive to me. It's still cool, but that's a neutral site game almost. I mean, the commander's fans, Redskins fans, you know, whatever you were wearing in the stands, it was all burgundy and gold. Luke McCaffrey even told us yesterday, I was like, man, you guys have been great on the road. He's like, I don't really count the Cardinals game. And he's right about that. We were away from home, but it wasn't a road game. It's true. And they were staying, you know, they stayed out there. It wasn't like they flew in and had to get adjusted to the time zone. So to me, this is the second biggest test probably that they will face on the road all year in terms of environment. I'm going to say the Bengals is still one. It could be wrong. Don't you think there's going to be a ton of commanders fan there? It's just too easy to get there. You would think so. Like, so that's why I'm thinking Bengals won Ravens two in terms of hostility and noise and things like that. But the stadium will be all a buzz though, right? Just because there's energy in it, there's there's a little bit of this local rivalry flavor. You remember that? Well, I just mean differently. Like in terms of, how do I try to phrase this? Cincinnati, it's everyone in Cincinnati screaming at you the whole time for this Baltimore thing. It's going to be like Washington games a lot of times where there's like a 25% opposing fan base that's in there, making a little bit of noise and chirping to and then that'll kind of raise the den. That's a different style of noise. Do you disagree with my point that the Bengals game will be more hostile? Yes. No, I mean, let me rephrase. I agree with that point. What you're saying is correct. It's the that's the most hostile. I made it more complicated than it should have been. Jason's in Miami on the Odyssey app. What's up, Jason? He hung up too. Christ Almighty, what is going on here? We're all scuffling. Guys, we're doing this thing together. It's a big week. It's a football Friday. The local 53 of their biggest game in the regular season since 2012. Bring your A game here down the stretch. Only a couple segments with your pals left this week. We got to leave it on the phone lines here. We leave it on the field today. We do everything we can so they can do everything they can. Steve is in LaRae on the Odyssey app. What's up, Steve? All right, maybe it's a phone thing. Do we think it's a phone thing? I don't. We haven't had a phone issue in like two weeks or so. I think it's people's phones. I don't think it's our phones this time. Really? Yeah. Steve, can you hear me? Going once. Gone. Let's go to Jake Enrichment on Grant and Danny. Jake, are you there? Yes, sir. I'm here. What's up, Jake? Three people in a row. Was there a phone? Yes, sure. Yes. All right. My phone works just fine, just fine. Listen, I think we're overcompeting this. The ravens shoot themselves in the foot week after week, especially when they're the heavy favorite at home. They shoot themselves in the foot. I think the last time they really put a woman on a team at home with the lions last year, and let's just make it a lion's problem, not a raven success. But we need to take deep shots because these safeties are going to have to respect Jaden. And Austin Echler and McNichols are going to eat in the flats. And Cliff Kingsbury, he lives in the flats, man. We're going to eat these linebackers up. I mean, we're going to expose their defense because the Bengals exposed their defense big time. Yes, it was a divisional game. But I just don't think the Ravens are as good as everyone says. I just don't think they are. So I'm going to come back to that point in a second because you've got somewhat of an advocate in me and that. I do have to take issue with one of his points. He talked about how long it's been since the Ravens just dominated somebody at home. They played the Bills two weeks ago in Baltimore and beat them 35 to 10. And at the time, that was a 3-0 Buffalo team. That was in prime time, right? That was a under the lights night game, standalone national TV, 3-0 Bills. Baltimore came in 1-2, by the way. I don't want to say their season was on the line. It wasn't. They needed it. You fall at one in three, you're in a bad spot. And they manhandled Buffalo. They out gained them 427 to 236. They ran about the same number of plays. The Ravens, eight yards of play, the Bills, four yards of play. I mean, they were twice as good. They ran for 271 on the ground to the Bills 81 yards. So we'll disagree on them not showing up big home games. I think the opposite is actually true. These are the types of games where they really do a nice job. Now, if you want to tell me you don't think the Ravens are that good, I'm one of the few people I think around here, Danny, willing to hear that argument. Because I think that by the end of the year, they will be good. Right now, it's not who you play, it's when you play them. I got no problem playing Baltimore this moment. They should have lost to the Bengals last week. They should be two in three. They lost to the Raiders, collapsing in the fourth quarter. Everyone wants to give them an award because they almost beat the Chiefs. Everybody almost beats the Chiefs. Nobody does. You don't get something for that. They're not that good offensively. So everyone hangs in games. And by the way, they went on a mad dash. Remember, it was like touchdown, drive, like second drive right after that. I mean, that in a cookie, you'll get you a nice snack when you get home from school. I don't care about that. I think they are good. They're not great. They're very beatable. And if the commanders are excellent and that is a possibility, if they're just legit awesome, then they might be better than Baltimore. I actually leave that open to possibility more than a lot of people do. So I've been wrong a couple of times this year, just sort of thinking back on it. I'm wrong a lot, as you know, always trying to be accountable for it. But where I've thought, OK, this, this team hasn't played great yet, but we still think of them or evaluation of them or their track record says they're going to get going. Cincinnati, most specifically, right? For the last several seasons, Cincinnati has started terribly. And then when Burroughs healthy, they get going and rip off a whole bunch of wins on their offenses, really prolific and they're really, really good. And I thought that's what was going to happen when Washington went to Cincinnati. Of course, it's wrong about that offensively. They were good, but defensive. They were a hot buttered mess. I thought similar things as we kind of progressed through. So I'm doing it again. I realize I'm falling into my same trap. I think two discussions about Baltimore. This year's work with that they've turned in has not been the usual A work from Baltimore. You know what that looks like, though? And it's they were were a year removed, but they were the best team in the NFL for probably four or five months. They've been all comers. San Francisco went out there. They got their butts kicked. Detroit got destroyed by Baltimore. They had a couple of weird losses, but for the most part, they were awesome. They were wired to wire the best team in the NFL, postseason, different story. I'm aware of that, but we're in that that normal period where they do what they do, which is win 12, 13, 14 games. Part of what my my thought for this weekend is I know I haven't seen it yet, but I've also seen it, right? But I'm acting on faith and you're basically going, that's adorable. The league turns over over here. They lost a bunch of defensive coaches about speaking for you, but they haven't turned in great work this year. And you keep showing that and it makes a lot of sense as a case for why this game may turn out the way you think eight hundred six, three, six, one oh six, seven. If you want to hop in on the commanders and the Ravens ahead of Sunday's clash, who is feeling the most heat in the NFL going into week six, whose seats are getting warmer coaches, quarterbacks, we'll get into that next on Grant and Danny. That's run of Grant and Danny taking you up to six 30 on a football Friday. Let's go around the NFL as we get ready for the sixth week of the campaign and try to figure out who's feeling the most heat going into a brand new weekend and slate of games. I'll start off with the New York Jets brand new coaching situation. Jeff Obrick taking over now as their defensive coordinator. He will be their interim head coach. Robert Salah has been fired. Aaron Rogers got to be feeling the heat. The story is that their offense is the problem, not their defense and that he got Robert Salah fired. Rogers can't have another dud and this is a primetime game on Monday night football against the bills. A win in the Jets are in first place, a loss. If he looks bad, it's too important. I think the pitchforks will be out for him a little bit. The tide is turning in New York on Aaron Rogers after Salah got fired. And now there's really not that many more levers to pull other than just acknowledge. This guy's not playing well. You handed the organization to him and blew up in your face last year and things are spiraling south this year. Nick Sirianni Jalen hurts for the Philadelphia Eagles coming off a buy where they've had a bunch of injuries and could be three and one or it could also be one and three, right? They're two and two sit kind of smack in the middle, having to play particularly well. The softest landing spot maybe you could have right now in the NFL at home against Cleveland. But the pressure's on. You're getting AJ Brown back. Devante Smith is coming back to both, I believe, having, having practiced in full. So you would think this is as good a landing spot as you're going to be. You lay a dud. Now given the what happened last year with a turnover, the coaching staff where he was under fire already talking about Sirianni, this could be trouble in paradise, AKA the opposite of Paradise Philadelphia spotlight and heat check on Anthony Richardson. He's got the oblique limited participant in practice today questionable for Sunday against Tennessee. I don't really know if he's playing or not. I don't know what the trend is there, what their local media would say. But whether it's this weekend where he might come back or next weekend, the heat has to be turned up. I would imagine on him as this offense started looking better with Joe Flacco out there. He makes too many bad turnovers, too many mistakes, misses too many easy throws when he gets back on the field Sunday or if it's not till next week, fine. I think it's time, man. You got to start showing something, guys like him or you want to put Will Levis on the, I kind of, I think the jury's already been returned on Will Levis at this point. They'll be looking for a quarterback. But regardless, when you're picked as high as Richardson is, you don't get forever to show something. And when you start to see another guy run the offense, Andy Dalton for Bryce Young, and it looks very different and way more professional and you can move the football through the air. It's not a good look. Richardson, I think is feeling some heat at this point. The Jacksonville Jaguars, it's not exactly George Pearson. It's Doug Peterson, who is in a little bit of a heat lamp situation. Not like the full fire, but like those warmers at the truck stop by Rogers, just off the turnpike. You know what I'm talking about, right? He's keeping that Frisco bacon cheeseburger warm. He and Trevor Lawrence at some point, good quarterbacks play good. That's all I'm saying. It hasn't happened really this year for Trevor Lawrence and company and Doug Peterson and company are shuffling. They got the Chicago Bears this weekend, they need a win to have a season. If you're one in five, now it's update your resume time. Who's feeling the heat in the NFL in week six on Grant and Danny? How about Drake May, making his first career start and he'll be under siege probably best pass rushing team in the league in terms of pressure rate, the Texans, worst pass protection team in the league in terms of pressures allowed, the Patriots and it's his debut. There's not a whole lot more pressure that you can face than doing it for the first time, the entire fan base watching everyone's going to be declaring what they think of you based on what you do over these four quarters. We went through this in week one with Jayden Daniels. Every rookie goes through it. But finally, Drake May gets to start. It's going to be a tough matchup for him in the one and four Patriots. Pressure is on and the heat is on him. Justin Fields, days as a starter from Pittsburgh might be numbered, right? I mean, it's not exactly what we're thinking of, but maybe it is for him specifically. Pittsburgh is so pedestrian offense. They are boring. They stink. They make me sad in a way to watch them play offense. But defense will be there. Really, really good. They have a Super Bowl caliber defense again and the dumbest, grossest offense that exists. So Justin Fields is trying to hold off for us. So Wilson, maybe we're not a chance to do so. What is their offense? Exact? Okay. You could picture it. It's like the meeting. It's like Steelers. What'd you guys bring about the offense? And it's like the quiet one. Yeah. It's a gross. Uh, follow me through this one. Got you. I don't know if this one plays. I think Spencer Rattlers feel in the heat a little bit. Here's what I mean. It's an amazing opportunity. He's starting. Now again, this is not hot seat like he could be, he could be benched. But if you're Spencer Rattler and you go out and ball against the bucks, you have a chance to play your way into a starting role the rest of this year over Derek Carr. You certainly have a chance to be thought of as the future quarterback, even if because of money they put Carr back out there in the second half of the season. But at least if you look good in this game, you get two of them. If you look good against the Broncos, I think it is on Thursday night football coming up. You play two solid football games. You know what they're going to be saying in New Orleans where our buddy Christian is at Brennan's right now serving some delicious food. Everyone's going to be saying we got our guy. Let's move on from car this off season. But if he comes out and stinks to join up, throws a bunch of picks, gets sacked a bunch just doesn't look good, not necessarily going to be fair to him, but I don't think there's going to be any kind of urgency to turn things back over to him. You're not going to be clamoring for him down the stretch to the same extent. You might not be advocating as a mid-round pick that you don't need to go get a quarterback because you got Spencer Rattler. I just think there's a lot on the line for his standing within the fan base. Anytime you get to show out for the first time, so I'm going to put the rookie just like Drake May as feeling the heat because you're trying to get off to a fast start. The Bengals run a crossroads shut up on Thugs and Harmony, Zach Taylor, Joe Burrow. They're one and four, dude. Do you want to have a season this year? Yeah, it's up to you. What would you like to have? Do you want to have a season or do you want to have this be just a lost cause? You sell everybody the trade deadline and we'll come back and figure it out next year because they're one and four playing the Giants on the road. Now the Giants are not good, but they're also not that terrible either. They could mess around and beat you if you're not careful. The Bengals very easily could be one and five to start their season and pretty much cooked dead in the water. A lot of pressure right now, all of a sudden for a group that a lot of folks thought had super well aspirations. That's who's feeling the heat in the NFL this weekend on Grant and Danny. By the way, Daniel Jones, been playing a little better. We were talking about that. I think he gets Malik neighbors back this weekend as well. Darius Slaton, Malik neighbors is out again. He is officially out. Correct. What on earth? He was just, he just came back to practice and they said he was trending in the right direction. You catch too many balls. His hands get hurt. Oh, so he has a concussion. They hit a game. Then they had a bi-week. So he's going to be out three weeks with a concussion. That's what we're doing. And must have a pretty serious concussion. You don't see that very often. Well, I stand corrected. All right. They don't get Malik neighbors back. So it's a lot more Darius Slaton and Wandell Robinson, but they have not slowed down. They beat the Seahawks. They hung with the Cowboys. They beat the Browns. They've been playing. All right. G and D on the fan. We'll give you our confidence points picks next. We will give you our commander to lock in on and make our final game predictions for commanders, Ravens, also give you a preview of what is maybe the best sports weekend of the fall to date here when we return on Grant and Danny.
