Now alongside me here on Friday night at Mount Panorama is V8Sluth.com.au website editor Connor O'Brien and the top 10 shootout field is set after a pretty dramatic qualifying session. Let's quickly run through the field from 10 to 1 the way they'll roll out tomorrow afternoon. In 10th, Richie Stanaway in the number 26 Grove Racing Ford Mustang and he's a bit lucky to have that position. He was under investigation for impeding Bryce Fullwood on those final qualifying runs but was given a clean bill of health so he'll roll out first tomorrow afternoon. Then it's Anton Teepersquale in the number 11 Dick Johnson Racing Mustang. Jack Lebrock in the number 9 arabist motorsport Chevrolet Camaro. Andre Heimgartner getting into the 10 for Brad Jones Racing in the number 8 Camaro. Jaz Moss in the number 25 walk-in-shore and ready United Mustang. Then Will Brown the points leader in the number 87 AAA Camaro. Brody Kostake last year's pole sitter, the number 1 arabist motorsport Camaro. He qualified fourth today so he'll roll out fourth last tomorrow. And then the top 3 Brock Feeney in the number 88 AAA Camaro who actually set the fastest time but it got disallowed and we'll get to that in a little bit. Cam Waters in the number 6 Tickford Racing Mustang and the fastest man by the stopwatch this afternoon Matt Payne number 19 Grove Racing Mustang. Head to our website for the full list of results from the qualifying session. Connor, there aren't really any huge surprises about who made it in and who's at the pointy end. Yeah, thanks for the look. It's a good mix, lots of big names in there. It says the stage really well for tomorrow afternoon with the shooter and for Sunday's race. Yeah, I mean, plenty of big names in there. The shooter is going to be interesting. There's lots of guys who could end up on top of that. Probably the biggest surprise for someone who didn't make it. If someone will talk about it in a second, probably Dave Reynolds who was really quick, well, always is really quick at Bathurst and has been quick all weekend here. But yeah, he had some other issues going on, which yeah, so he'll be starting back in the pack a bit. Yeah, as you allude to Connor, there were two very big shunts in qualifying. David Reynolds had one of them. He went in very hard in the number 20 team 18, Camaro. Early in the session at the S's and then Will Davidson brought out the red flags right at the end with a hit at the Dipper in the number 17, Dick Johnson Racing Mustang. And the timing of those red flags cost Brock Feeney what would have been the fastest lap of the day. He was just coming around Murray's corner, expecting to see the checkered flag and cop the red instead, which means you don't get to complete your lap. And I think it would have been up on Matt Payne's effort by 0.02 of a second or something miniscule, but alas, doesn't count, so doesn't count. Connor, you've popped into the team 18 and DJR Garages earlier tonight. What are the teams saying? Are those cars repairable? Yeah, look, so all hands on deck, that's for sure. Yeah, there was a lot going on in both camps. The team 18 guys, they're pretty confident. They'll be back out for practice five in the morning. It was always very impressive to see the mechanics at work here. And in this case, team principal Adrian Burgess was going back to his F1 days of being a mechanic. He was on the tools as well, which is always cool to see. But yeah, they'll be OK. It's just front end damage. The 17 for DJR, it's a different story. They're not sure. They're going to give it a red hot crack, but there's a bit of shazzy damage. I think they're trying to work out how to fix. Basically, it's not easy to do on site, so they're not a guarantee right now to make the race on Sunday, which would be obviously a shame. Certainly, they're clearly giving it a go because when we left the track at about eight o'clock, they were hard at work. And yeah, there wasn't much left of the car, that's for sure. The whole rear of it was gone, much of the front of it was gone. Yeah, so I'd be shocked if that car is out there for practice in the morning, but funnier things have happened. And yeah, they'll be certainly at the very least trying to get it ready for Sunday. Indeed, and if you're listening to us, we know you love a stat. If they unfortunately aren't able to get the 17 out for race day, it would mean that this would be the first year since 1972, where a number 17 car has not taken part in the Bathurst 1000. Hopefully, though, it does not come to that. Now, one of the other big happenings at the track today was actually off the track. It was the covers coming off the full-size model of the Toyota GR Supra, the Gen 3 Supercar or Supra car, as Toyota was calling it. It's not a real race car, it's still a model made out of clay. But, Connor, one thing that was very real was that all the Toyota staff that were on hand have a huge passion for motorsport. Yeah, it was really cool, actually. Like, I mean, Toyota coming to Supercars is such a momentous sort of thing, and it is nice to sort of almost take half a step back and sort of just soak in what's going on, and, yeah, I mean, seeing that happen live today was very cool, and, yeah, the Toyota guys, right from Sean Hanley, you know, down, like, they all speak with such passion about it, yeah. And, yeah, it's clearly something that a lot of people, whether they're Ford teams, or Chev teams, or Neutral, or whatever, is there's a lot of people on the outside that are massively excited. But, clearly, there's a lot of people on the inside that are really, really excited, too, which is great. It's a, you know, they've been telling us, you know, repeatedly, it is a Toyota Australia project. And, you know, with the blessing of the global company, that, yeah, it's a really home-grown project, and something that they are really, really excited to get into, and I'm sure there's going to be plenty more parts of the story to follow in the road to 2026. Now, the Supercars track schedule for Saturday 10.05 a.m. Practice five 60-minute session, which all these practice sessions have been this week. This one's only for the co-drivers. Then, they're back out at 1.10 p.m. for practice six, another 60-minute session. This time, any driver can have a spin. And then, 5.05 p.m. the top 10 shoot out the big stage that all the drivers want to be on, but it's only 10 every year get the opportunity. Of course, all those times, Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time. Now, we ran through the top 10 field earlier. So, Connor, putting you on the spot, who's your pick for poll? It's a hard one, isn't it? I mean, I think the smart money's probably Ken Waters. He's a real master in those top 10 shoot outs. He's awesome at it. But, I like to be different. So, I'm going to say Brody Kostekki. It's felt like this year is building to something at Brody. He seems happy. The car's fast. He was, like, unbelievably good here this time last year. So, I'm going to say Brody's going to pour one out of the bag tomorrow. Keeping in mind, Brody was fastest throughout the early part of qualifying. And then, he hit the fence at, was that at Stormman Park on the exit of Stormman Park, I think? And he bent both rims on the right-hand side, but also bent the rear suspension. And also, he tweaked the front suspension. He was able to fix the rear, but I think he went out and did the rest of the session with the front, not quite right, and he still improved his time. So, with a straight car, I think you've probably hit on a winner there for a very, very strong contender for back-to-back polls. I think my money's, though, is with Ken Waters. He's got the runs on the board. We know he's extremely good in shoot outs. And one of the things that they were all talking about afterwards is the top three drivers, anyways, that this shootout could be one or topped by the driver that just makes the least mistakes. Because on the hard tire, with the lower amount of downforce that the Gen 3 cars have, that's part of the reason why we're seeing so many incidents this weekend, and really, Ken, for all the tiny little errors he's made, he self-confessed that he made quite a few mistakes throughout the qualifying session, but he has the capacity to put all the pieces together. Yeah, he certainly explored the limits today, so those learnings might come in handy come tomorrow. Thank you again for joining me, Connor. Connor, myself, Aaron Noonan and Shane Rogers, of course. The entire V8 Sloop team is on the ground at Mount Panorama this weekend, so keep an eye on the website, v8sloop.com.au for all the latest news.
